Final Content update + Fixes (4.2.0 - beta)

This is the actual final major update for this game. Fixed a bunch of stuff (mainly maze in Chapter 5, NewGame+ error at endings). Made some QoL addendum. And added Achievements (37) and Codexes.

This update breaks the saves (sorry, I forgot to add the Achievement variable last April), so please restart the game completely - or you'll get an error.

If I don't get any bug report during this summer, I'll move the game to Released and Complete. :)

Just wanna put this disclaimer out before anyone starts reading under the cut: Despite this ask & post and my own feelings about the show, it has been really heartwarming to see BIPOC fans delight in this show and my fandom friends gushing to me about this :D That is something no one can take away from them and I'm very glad they enjoyed it!

All in all to say the Kosem copying was bad and it should be called out but the Barbie references are all in good fun!

Since this is the main ask I've gotten about the show, I'm also going to put my main thoughts here and I don't think I'll be answering any follow up asks because every take has kind of been said and done. I really don't have much to add on since I'm not ever going to watch the show either.

Outside of the show, I adoree that India and Arsema are getting their flowers and the couple is being promoted how they should be! It's all well deserved. A small part of me does feel sad because if this is the PR team going all out, where was all this fanfare for S2, Jimone and Kathony?

However, based on what I've been told:

- I'm glad the chemistry between QC and George was good and everyone enjoyed their romance

- Who on the team hates LD?? Because COME ON martial rape AND giving her a not-hot older man IN VIOLET'S DAD OF ALL PEOPLE?? They did her so dirty. Idc if Lord Ledger gave her the first orgasm of her life, I see that man and no thank you. My girl deserved someone as hot as Adolphus!

- These two things is a HUGE reason why I can't watch the show cos of my triggers: I hate hate how gratuitous they were with the torture porn - both with LD's scenes with her husband (FOURRRR MARTIAL RAPE SCENES THAT'S LAUGHED OFF AS A GAG???) and George getting waterboarded for his mental illness. As someone who experienced SA and has a mental illness, these are very sore subjects for me so no thank you QC, but I will not be tuning in.

Anyway to close this out, congrats to the cast for doing a great job and whoever enjoyed the show, I'm glad you did! Those who read this and agree with me, just know you aren't alone in your critiques of the show. Johnny: Hey, hey, hey! Good day, everyone and wow was I not expecting the turn out.

Mark: Agreed! We have like triple viewership, er, listenership than our first season, it’s crazy! Like, hi, I guess. How are you guys doing?

Johnny: Honestly, I didn’t think people would be so interested. But, seriously, thanks, we really appreciate it. And maybe we’re a little surprised by it? Especially after how much support the anti-vigilante bill got, so it’s interesting to see the support for Limitless. But anyway! Let’s talk vigilantes! We saw your comments and quote tweets about who you wanted to hear about first and our local favorite [TN: Said with sarcasm] Spades won by a landslide.

Mark: Right! That’s insane, geez, must be because Spades was on the news, right? No one cared about Spades until then, or at least I thought so.

Johnny: You’ll have to forgive him, he’s a bit of a fan.

Mark: But not as much as a fan as our special guest, drum roll please, Nakamoto Yuta!

Yuta: Hi, everyone.

Mark: When was the last time you were on the show?

Yuta: Hm, probably last season when we were talking about, what was their name again? Vendetta, right?

Johnny: Yup, they’re retired now though... allegedly.

Mark: Allegedly.

Yuta: Right, you’ll never know with vigilantes.

Johnny: Yeah, so why don’t you introduce yourself since it’s your first time on the new season?

Yuta: Gotcha. I’m Nakamoto Yuta and I’m a journalist for the local paper, I have about six or seven years in the business, give or take. I’ve been following the movements of Spades since the beginning with Four Aces and such I know quite a bit about them... maybe too much.

Mark: Maybe a little.

Johnny: He’s also Mark’s roommate.

Yuta: That I am. But still qualified to speak on the lovely Ace of Spades.

Mark: Yup, so let’s dive into the episode and start with some history, what do you think?

Johnny: Sounds good but first, a little thing from our sponsors.

Yuta: I use neither. If I have wordy and hard to follow sentences so be it, it’s the reader’s fault for not being able to pick up on my artistic intellect.

Johnny: Dude, what?

Mark: Just go with it.

Johnny: Okay then, anyway, back to the episode. Yuta, what can you tell us about Spades’ history?

Yuta: What can’t I tell? Basically, Spades was originally in a group of four, you can probably guess their names. Hearts, Diamonds, and Clubs were the other three. The group was definitely a force to be reckoned with, you can pull up some of the old articles from when they were active, it was insane. They were like real celebrities, you know?

Mark: Well, Clubs later became a celebrity.

Yuta: Right, but that’s besides the point. Either way, they worked as a great unit, any person observing can see the great camaraderie between them. According to popular rumors it’s said that the group were originally school friends turned vigilantes when they’re fifth person in the friend group was murdered. The murder was brushed off as a suicide, however, but they knew their friend better than that. 

Mark: Friend that was murdered? You wouldn’t happen to be talking about the Eric Son case, would you? 

Yuta: Yup. You have to admit that the whole thing was sketchy. The autopsy came out months later, there were signs of a struggle, even the suicide note was sketchy, his partner at the time said that it looked nothing like his handwriting. And then came the gun, it was right next to Son’s hand but his prints on it were smudged. If this was a murderer who tried to hide their tracks, they did a seriously messy job with it. Either way, it was this ruling of the case that marked the beginning of the Aces, we don’t know if they ever found the original killer though. Their leader, Hearts, always refused to comment on it. But that team, damn, the way they worked was insane. They each had their own specializations too, it’s a shame what happened to Hearts.

Johnny: Right, the accident.

Yuta: Yeah, we only knew it was Hearts because her mask was in the back seat. That was just the beginning of the end for the Aces. With Hearts decommissioned for good, the remaining three fell into disarray. Hearts is bedridden now, no one knows where she is though, which is probably a good thing given that the Aces made more enemies than friends. Then there’s Clubs, who would later leave and reveal his identity to the public right before the Vigilante Ban came out.

Mark: You mean the absolute heart throb Han Jisung who would later become a hit actor with the series All In on HBO Max that you can watch ahead of time before it airs on HBO with a basic membership that only costs $14.99 a month and you get premier access to new movies included in that?

Johnny: Did HBO Max DM you?

Mark: Yup. I saw a chance and took it, go give it a shot and tell us what you think about All In, the series started about two weeks ago and follows a mob gang that doubles as the police force for a cover, it’s got an interesting narrative. But back to the episode. Han Jisung, damn, he like commands presence.

Yuta: Hell yeah, his movies are great. Can you imagine? Going from vigilante to a fucking movie star? You’d think someone would be out for his head, but I guess when you’re that jacked no one would want to mess with you.

Johnny: Oh, definitely, what the hell? I swear, I think he can crush skulls with his fist alone.

Yuta: Oh, without a doubt. I think the only thing that saved him was the fact that the Aces had a mutual agreement to never actually kill anyone.

Johnny: Right, the court case for Han was crazy enough, I can’t believe he won. Turning everything into self defense? God damn. I really thought that they were going to lock him up.

Mark: Same, but what happened to Diamonds?

Yuta: Diamonds fought with Spades a little bit until the Christmas day incident. I think you’re all familiar.

Mark: Yeah, but for the viewers who don’t know about it, basically there was a show down in Central Park between Diamonds, Spades, and the then villain Absolute Zero. Things were looking pretty bad, lots of property damage and civilian casualties everywhere, and while Spades was on civilian duty, Diamonds focused on Absolute Zero. Near the end of the fight, Timekeeper was able to intervene, but details from there are muddled. All we know is that Diamonds was dead.

Yuta: Yeah, it was a really dark Christmas that year. Spades even went inactive for a long while after that. We thought that that was the end of the Aces.

Mark: We all thought so! One Ace was dead, another one paraplegic, one who wanted nothing to do with it, and another just completely disappeared.

Johnny: Man, what I would pay to see Twitter again that day, I never knew they were so divided on the Aces.

Yuta: It was kind of disheartening, the Aces had really only done more good than bad, it was just that Christmas day that screwed everything over. Do you remember how the media absolutely harassed Han about it? It was ridiculous, and all he said was that anything the Aces did was none of his concern. Talk about cold, makes me wonder what happened between the four for them to have grown so distant. In their earlier days people would talk about how they would just have basic mundane conversations with each other while fighting criminals. Hell, remember when Spades loudly proclaimed that Clubs left the stove on? And how Hearts was worrying about rent? It’s crazy, I think a lot of people forget that these vigilantes were actual people under the masks. Then they just... fell apart.

Mark: Yeah, it was just... batshit crazy. Then, out of nowhere, like maybe half a year later, Spades was spotted in the red-light district beating the hell out of a serial sexual assaulter.

Johnny: Good for Spades.

Yuta: Yeah, fuck sexual assaulters.

Mark: I will never forget the video because the person who took it was like “Yaaas beat the shit out of him” like five times.

Johnny: Oh god, the memes on that.

Mark: Gold!! No, but seriously, that was like a pivot point for Spades.

Yuta: No, because it really is. Up until that day Spades was known to be the people’s favorite, always focusing on how the Aces were perceived by the media and the public and always knowing when to hold back but, fucking hell, what Spades did to that guy was horrific. Granted, he deserved it, but many people who saw the video said that they had to go to therapy after because they couldn’t get the guy’s screams out of his head.

Johnny: They had to get therapy? Please, he had to get therapy. I heard that the guy’s constantly afraid that Spades will come finish the job one day.

Mark: Yeah, but that’s super unlikely. One thing that Spades has stuck to was the Aces’ original “No Kill” rule and thank god for that. If only we knew the Christmas say incident was the beginning of a whole new vigilante I think this ban would’ve come much sooner.

Johnny: I’m talking about the aftermath, guys, Spades literally took this half-beaten-to-death man and dropped him off at the fucking Police Station and dipped. That’s fucking ballsy. Imagine if Spades pulled that now with the Vigilante Ban? I’d be going insane!

Yuta: Seriously! Spades got ten times more brutal than when the other Aces were around. Then the ban happened and it got so much worse.

Johnny: Yeah, vigilantes now can’t leave any closed ends, they do that and they get caught, but shit, still some of the scenes that Spades leaves behind is downright horrific.

Mark: Honestly, I can’t believe they’re still alive after that. Do you remember the Rich Avenue incident? On Halloween? Shit, I can’t believe those people were still alive. There was blood everywhere. 

Johnny: I know, damn, Spades must have been fucking pissed. What Spades left behind in that house was downright terrifying. Must have found out about the Vigilante Ban, remember what was written on that card?

Yuta: Fuck Senator Keeves, I do what I want and will keep doing it?

Mark: Yup. Damn, talk about power move. Now Spades is a fucking hurricane, since then, I swear, something changed in Spades, from fighting styles to the criminals targeted, it’s insane. I just want to know what goes on in Spades’ head, you know? I feel like Spades has a lot of interesting opinions. But, seriously, I’m glad to know that Spades stuck with that part of the code even after the Aces just fell apart. Do you know if Spades still talks to Clubs?

Johnny: If they do talk we’d never know. Spades is the only identity still kept a secret from the public and, if anything, I’m sure Spades is kissing up to Clubs right now so he doesn’t reveal it.

Yuta: Or it could be the other way around, I feel like the two have perfect leverage against each other and I don’t know how else they’d keep one another in check. As for Hearts no one knows either, if they do talk, that would be interesting considering the fall out they all had. But I would like to know what they thing of Spades now.

Johnny: Spades became kind of a dark horse, no? Out of nowhere and suddenly one of the most active vigilantes. 

Mark: Dude, people were in such disbelief that they actually thought the person who orchestrated the Rich Avenue incident was just a copy cat, remember? Then the police released that it couldn’t have been because they kept a certain detail out of the records so they could tell if attacks were done by Spades or if they were just copy cats.

Yuta: Well, yeah, but it really just reeks of “Source: OOMF said,” you know what I mean? The styles are just so drastically different from one another that it was hard to believe.

Mark: I don’t know, maybe Spades was just pissed. The Aces were no more, the Vigilante Ban, and just... who knows, maybe Spades was just tired. Tired of things not going the way they were supposed to.

Johnny: It’s kind of scary, but in somewhat of an admirable kind of way? But then again, and even scarier, apparently some people have spotted Spades talking to Blackguard.

Yuta: Oh, fuck, if those two team up I can only imagine the chaos.

Mark: Right, they’re both on the top ten most wanted too, have you seen the rewards on their heads? Spades is at $500,000 right now and Blackguard twice that just because of the people he’s killed.

Johnny: Damn, vigilantes, I get that the people they get rid of had it coming for them but, god, they come and go so fast. Spades, at the moment, is just targeting petty crime right now just because there’s nothing going on locally, and if there was then Blackguard takes care of it.

Mark: Yeah, it’s like there’s a system, or something. Or maybe just mutual respect. I wonder what Spades is going to do now with that one unknown person going out to kill Vigilantes now. Does that make them a vigilante too? Because they’re exercising power outside of government authority, but at the same time it’s to, like, aid the government. I don’t know.

Yuta: Yeah, Mark, take it easy before you get a headache. All we know is that Spades chose to stay active and now the government’s doing everything they can to figure out who they are.

Johnny: Right, right. But Spades, what a character. Remember when we’d see the Mastermind, Huntsman, and Spades team up? It was crazy. First team up we’ve seen since the Aces basically disbanded and fucking hell that was a trio. Mastermind is a genius.

Mark: Yeah! Have you seen his traps? Very Jigsaw esque, you know? I wonder if he’s a fan. If one of his targets falls in them that’s it. But it’s kind of interesting to see how he works, you know? Those traps are equally as genius, and combined with Spades’ technique and Huntsman’s aim it really makes the whole thing pop, you know?

Johnny: Yeah, it’s just insane how these vigilantes work and think, I want to sit down with one and have a deep conversation with them, I think they’d have so much interesting things to say.

Yuta: Agreed. Who know what Spades is going to do next, one of the interesting things about most vigilantes is that it’s hard to pinpoint what exactly it is that they’re trying to achieve or trying to do. Who knows, maybe some of them are just bored adults who have nothing better to do, or maybe they’re like the Aces who noticed that there was just something horribly wrong with the system and wanted to fix it.

Johnny: Or maybe even both.

Yuta: Maybe. It’s definitely interesting, though.

Mark: Yeah, but, with that said, we’re going to have to wrap up the episode here now. My thoughts on The 100 7x05

Hey, guys,

Sorry for not doing any comments on the last two episodes. I’ve been a little busy and I struggled to connect to the show, so it hindered my enjoyment, but it’s all better now. Liked episode 4 and 5 was even better, jampacked with info and it answered a lot of questions.

Welcome to Bardo

Badass Octavia is da bomb (people don’t say that anymore, right?). When she was captured in episode two, I thought she had lost her fighting spirit, but it’s back, bitches. Well, until she runs into an invisible wall trying to escape. She’s captured and transported to M-cap (whatever that means). Then we get a welcome little flashback to Lincoln but it’s obvious that Bellamy would be the hand reaching out. He’s her rock, like she’s expressed many times.

Unlike John Murphy who is not quite a friend, or family and definitely not a lover. Introducing so many new characters in the final season of a show is never a good idea, because this is the time to wrap up all the stories of the existing ones, but come on, who cannot love Levitt. Even when he first meets Octavia, he doesn’t want to hurt her. Jason, you better not harm one hair on this precious little puppy’s head!

As he binges The 100 through Octavia’s eyes, he starts rooting for her, and he actually gives a damn, unlike most people on this show. He understands her strengths and weaknesses and he makes her see it too. “You’re a warrior to be sure, but your heart is pure.” Wow, what an honest and beautiful line. (Scroll down for my shipping comments.)

So is O and Hope’s fleeting little reunion. It’s amazing to experience this deep loving side of Octavia after her darkness. She’s truly one of the most diverse and developed characters on the series. Now Hope and her resilience is quickly making it to the top as well.

While Hope is trying to send her back home, we learn that memory loss is due to the time dilation. One quick note on this, it’s not linear, there’s no easy equation to calculate it unless you’re Stephen Hawking or Einstein. I don’t think it’s constant either. 10 years on Skyring = 11 days on Bardo = a few minutes on Sanctum. In the current time, 5 years on Skyring = 1 day on Sanctum = 7 days on Bardo. So, it’s clear that the planets are moving, and other factors are playing into the phenomenon. It’s more important to understand the time relative to each planet.

Levitt was the one who tattooed Hope’s code onto O’s back, also the one who planted the note into Hope’s arm. Indeed the kind of man you want on the inside, he even accepts a blow to the face as thank you.

Sheep-ish?

Thirty minutes on the clock and the trio gets led to a congregation to praise the shepherd. I never thought it was Anders, I do, however think it might be Cadogan. The Bordoan’s built the underground forest because they destroyed their planet. Ugh, what’s new? The shepherd herded his sheep from earth to Bardo via the stone. Cadogan and his second dawn cult?

Back to Clarke. So, after last episode I thought ‘the key to winning the last war’ line was an artifice for luring Clarke to disciples, but now it’s clearly true. They’ve located the key and they will win the last war. Levitt was interested in Clarke surviving the City of Light with the flame in her head, they probably assume she still has it. Cadogan burned Becca alive. Could it be because of the flame? Is this all because of that damn little chip that can’t seem to die?

Bellamy is not dead, I repeat, Bellamy is not dead! I believe that memory could be staged or implanted for a reason. Also, there’s no body, he jumped through the bridge. In the promo photos, he wears a ring but his actions towards Octavia seem a little cold and generic. On first watch, I thought it was bad acting but if he was programmed to do this, it makes sense.

Note the sequence of events. Octavia returned 7 days ago and was asked to talk her brother down, but we don’t see the actual scene. Instead we’re shown a memory. They could have implanted it to make her vulnerable and perhaps more susceptible to the procedure. I don’t know, but this theory could lead to Robot-sheep!Bellamy on Nakara, where he’ll encounter Clarke and the gang.

I have to be honest, I really don’t like this character arc for Bellamy. It’s unoriginal and a mime of Peeta’s storyline in Mockingjay. Sorry, but so far it feels like the writers were so over the show, they just wanted to get it done. And that attitude really bleeds into one’s creative concepts. I could be completely wrong, in fact, I hope I am.

Echo spins a Finn

My word, I lost the love of my life once, but I sure didn’t kill anyone. When Echo received that vision of Roan, I was hoping for some progression on her individual arc, they’ve made me care about her, and now we get the opposite. Why? One thing I have to admit, a killer performance from Tasya Teles! No pun intended.

Look, this show hasn’t explored Bellamy and Echo’s relationship enough to make her murder believable. It was the exact same thing with Finn. I wasn’t invested in Finn and Clarke’s connection, so his actions of killing a grounder tribe was more repulsive than understandable. Sure, Echo loves Bellamy and her sole purpose is to save him, but I’ve never truly witnessed their love for each other. They had one or two intimate scenes which cannot compel a deed like this. And in the process, she screwed Hope and Diyoza.

Anyway, I don’t think there’s any coming back from it. She murdered an innocent person in cold blood. That’s sure to open a door to the dark side.  Just look at Octavia after killing Pike and her actions were justified by jus drein jus daun.

Say Sanctum three times slowly and it sounds like… Sanctum

Blind faith

Look, I’m just gonna come out and say this song is getting old. Every episode featuring Sanctum is the exact same thing with different lines. Can we please move on from it, already? Yes, we know the COG want Russel dead, and the adjusters will go to extreme lengths to free Russel and the prisoners are background noise.

I did appreciate Nelson stepping in to try and save the girl, though. Still doesn’t save the fact that it’s repetitive. The Sanctum plotline is really struggling to take shape and I hope it happens soon. Dramatic eyeroll.

At least in the drought of a desert, you can always count on Murphy. “…I say we live and let die.” Typical cockroach line, right, but it’s ironic when he’s the one to step up, even if it is for Emori. Under the magnifying glass it’s the exact same plot as episode 1 and 3. He hesitates to take action, and eventually becomes the hero.

I mean, he saved that poor kid from being burned alive. Can you imagine sacrificing your own child in such a horrific away? Cults are beyond whacked, and, unfortunately, it’s reality that cult members are so blinded by their faith that they do not see rhyme or reason.

How did Murphy fail that test? I didn’t. When Trey named the four pillars, I thought, isn’t rejoice one of them? Surely, a cockroach would have smelled that trap a mile away.

Can we just give a massive round of applause to Adina Porter!!! That powerhouse walk vibrates strength and majesty, damn, she should be a false god, I wouldn’t dare threaten her with or without an army.

Three little words was all it took for her to recognize evil. “There’s a spider on your shoulder.” Smooth. Too bad she can’t kill him. Why not, how many of the faithful are left to cause an uproar? Wonkru doesn’t know it’s Sheidheda, they won’t care, the COG will fall in line and the prisoners will be happy as long as they get their compound. Sorry, I don’t get it and I don’t understand why she doesn’t tell anyone.  Someone please explain?

Granted, JR Bourne as Russel is way better, but I still don’t understand his actions. I hope they explore and explain him more, because he still feels flat unless he knows something of this final war. I’m hoping these two storylines align soon since it’s really driving a wedge between me and my love for the show.

Shipwreck

I’ll start with the easy stuff, Murphy, Emori and the perfect dress gets a heart eye emoji from me. They are so damn cute this season, can they please live happily ever after in the palace?

Octabriel vs Levittavia

Now, I enjoy Levitt fangirling over Octavia. I feel like he has a deep sense of her through her memories. If I have to root for an underdeveloped relationship, it will have to be one where the characters share thoughts and experiences even if it is through a sick, sci-fi procedure.

On the other hand, Gabriel and Octavia have immense chemistry, two seconds of them together bends my mouth into an “Aah, cute” pout. This will also add some approval and representation for mixed racial relationships.

I really don’t mind either way as long as they make me care through showing and not telling.

Bellarke

So, if my theory is correct, and Bellamy does end up on Nakara, Bellarke will encounter each other quite soon. Bellamy won’t be himself though, but he might pretend to be Bellamy to win Clarke’s co-operation. Is there hope for Bellarke yet?

Echo is now trotting a dangerous path and Bellamy might be pledged to a cause, so I doubt there will be a happy ending for Becho. Since 7x01 I’ve been thinking that the writers might want to develop something between Clarke and Gaia but if they are separated, is there enough time? Guess we’ll see.

This monster of a review is finally done… If you read through everything, you deserve a gold star! Let me know what you think, till we meet again…

After that event in August 1st, where the VAs of Sesshomaru and Rin revealed the twins' designs, the Jaken's VA send a letter on twitter (i don't have the link im sorry) where he congratulated to them as "newly weds" and he said that he wishes Rin hapiness. What do you think about this? Do you think this is a confirmation that Rin is the mother?

So based on what I know, no, I do not take this is as confirmation that Rin is the mother. That's not to say she can't turn out to be it, I just wouldn't use this as evidence. The letter you are referring to never actually mentioned anything about a wedding or newly weds, as that rumor has been debunked.

Since it's almost been a month already, I had to refresh my memory and ask a couple others to recall what exactly it was that Jaken said to Sesshomaru and Rin throughout that livestream. Jaken's VA couldn't make it to the event or maybe it was that he wasn't invited, Idk.

First thing's first, it wasn't only a single letter Jaken('s VA) sent. It was 3 separate ones- one to Sesshomaru, one to Rin, and one to the audience. Now I'm not sure about the order they were showed in, but in this instance I don't think it matters all that much.

In the letter to the audience, he was wishing everyone the best during these trying times of covid-19.

The second was to Sesshomaru. In this particular letter he says he "doesn't understand" in reference to either something happening or what Sesshy did/said. He also says he hopes he's doing well.

The third letter was for Rin. He says something along the lines of "my daughter, I wish you well."

All in all, the three letters were pretty short and vague. There is however no mention of a marriage or a congratulations.

I believe what happened was that a lot of pro-Sessrin fans took his wishes for Rin to mean she got married to Sesshomaru. I think the confusion started because the contents of all letters were initially believed to be only the one letter.

This part has bugged me forever haha but I'm still not sure why Jaken being her dad has to automatically mean Sesshomaru isn't like one, too. By leaving him out one assumes so, I guess? Or why does Jaken being Rin's dad somehow translate to Sesshomaru being her husband? Please explain to me how we arrived at such a wild deduction. I suppose we can partially owe these interpretations to fans getting overly excited and carried away.

There's just so many (unknown) factors we have to take into account. If I were a Sessrin shipper, I'd probably jump to a similar if not the same conclusion ngl. It would be hard not to "read between the lines" and take these small potential clues as proof, but fans must be wary. I totally get the temptation, alright, but wishful thinking may be getting the best of us if we allow ourselves to mistake potential fanbait for legitimate assurance something will guaranteed happen.

The way I look at it, keeping the mom a mystery is nothing but a marketing ploy to keep all sides of this fandom appeased for as long as possible until the sequel is out.

If we try and acknowledge only the facts provided to us (accompanied with as little bias as possible), then all I'm really witnessing is Jaken dedicating sweet handwritten letters to his beloved Lord Sesshomaru and his former traveling companion/sister/daughter Rin. I'm not sure why they can't simply be letters without turning them into some riddle we need to solve or a code we need to crack.

Sunrise is well aware of the risk Sessrin going canon poses. But if Sunrise decided to go through with it and the mom is just going to end up being Rin anyway, what's with all the secrecy? Especially seeing as that livestream with her VA present would've been the perfect opportunity to reveal it. The entire fandom- shippers and antis alike- were expecting it. So what gives? For some reason Sunrise insists on keeping the mom's identity a secret, which tells me one of two things:

1) it's a new character

and/or

2) she's integral to the plot for this sequel

Supposedly Rumiko was behind the idea of keeping the mom's identity hidden, which makes this predicament that much more curious. One fan recently pointed out in the comments section for an ask I answered 2 days ago here that the VAs from that livestream keep talking about Jaken being a dad to Rin probably to "protect their products." Although this is a valid point, we must consider it from the opposing side. A similar and sound reasoning can be applied to a counter-argument, as well.

What I mean by that is what if the VAs' efforts to go out of their way to please the Sessrin fandom could be partly due to the fact that they want to give those fans a little something knowing what's in store. They know what's to come won't go in their favor, but better to give them crumbs and keep them satisfied and engaged until the sequel than nothing at all. We've all been there before, where we get hooked by the promo interviews but the end results wind up being almost nothing like those actors described it. It can be disappointing when we allow ourselves to get our hopes up high, but it happens all the same. The baiting/trolling stops for no one, ha! Of course I'm directing this at all Inuyasha fans, not only Sessrin fans. Gods know I've been guilty of being let down, I just pray this time ain't one of them. 😉

Yes, I'm well aware that many of the staff on Inuyasha support or even ship Sessrin. We must however remind ourselves that this wouldn't be the first time staff shipped a pairing on a series they worked for, but that doesn't necessarily mean these ships go canon either. In all actuality, I'd say most if not all times these pairings in question never go canon. The shippers among the staff can create all the unofficial merchandise or advertisement they want- drama cds, calendars, what have you- but that may be all they're allowed to do when all is said and done. At the end of the day, those aren't what ultimately shape and define the story Sunrise and Rumiko are collaborating on together. Let's just hope this ain't solely some cash grab and that Rumiko isn't a sellout. If neither is the case, we may very well have ourselves a decent sequel. 🤞🤞
