it's kinda wild to me how "official" content performs so much better on here than fan made works. like I'll post a web weaving thread that took me a couple of hours to make and it'll get a 1/4 of the notes that a pic I reposted from instagram will. It's just that I am fully anticipating that whatever Sikozu thinks is going on between them he throws it back at her to be like see, that was all a trap and you walked right into it, (because that is what should be happening between Scorpius and John except it would massively alienate the hetero audience and everyone who wants to see John and Aeryn be together to go that far so they need someone to stand in for John here) and I don't want to see that happen to her!!! It's fine to believe people can change!!! It is not a crime to be naive and overconfident in your own assessment of the world!!!! But god does it feel like this particular type of naivete is repeatedly crushed in fiction in a way I just get tired of after a while!!!!!

Which is why I am hoping she is playing him right back because it would be so so delicious for her plan of attack re: gaining his trust to be to be like, I see good in you, playing to his own overconfidence in his acting ability and willingness to suffer a string of neverending blows to his pride to get what he wants, counting on him to take her at face value, counting on being underestimated.

But also because I think Scorpius sees himself as fundamentally alone in the universe with no allies and he makes that kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy, even though he has put himself into a position to make that no longer true and is actively taking steps that should make that no longer true, it's fake, right, he's playing at it because he's spent his entire life the only thing he can count on and he's never done anything else and he's counting on John to be lulled into a false sense of security around him because he believes John thinks people can change, but John turning off the comms and proving to Aeryn he's listening proves that actually!!! He won't be fooled again!!! Scorpius is fundamentally alone in the universe!!!! Sikozu is playing Scorpius the way Scorpius is playing John!!!! It's seduction all the way down!!!!!!

...or that is what I am hoping is going on, because the idea of Sikozu's Beauty and the Beast thing being played totally straight is deeply cringe to me.

please stop using the “subordinate” thing as a basis for your arguments. that word does not mean what you seem to think it means.

y’all talk about jc asking wwx to be his subordinate as if it’s like some show of disrespect. some of y’all literally use it as “evidence” that jc “never cared about wwx” and that he “never viewed wwx as anything but a servant” but like.

my friends. subordinate literally just means “someone with a lower rank (than someone else).” it does not carry any connotations of subservience, servitude, lesser worth, or disrespect.

we understand how sect leadership works in mdzs, yes? there is One (1) sect leader.

Everyone who is Not the sect leader, but is affiliated with that sect, is Subordinate to the Sect Leader.

nobody ever claims that lan xichen didn’t care about lan wangji, lan qiren, or any of the juniors, even though they were all subordinate to him as the sect leader.

nobody ever claims that jin guangshan viewed madame jin, jin zixuan, or jin zixun as “just servants” or even servants at all, even though they were all subordinate to him as the sect leader.

hell, nobody even claims that nie mingjue viewed meng yao as “just a servant,” even when meng yao actually WAS a servant!
