omg yeah!! the thing about puppy play is that it's not like, a super common kink, and i think the idea of being treated like a dog squicks people out enough that they react negatively before giving it a chance, so i don't have a tonnn of recs but i'm more than happy to share some of my faves!!

King by T.M. Frazier - no actual puppy play, but the FMC wakes up with complete amnesia and the MMC names her "pup", which reallyyyy worked for me. There's a kinda 24/7 D/s thing going on, and I overall really enjoyed the dynamic between the two characters

Fight Me Daddy by Skylar Snow - i actually really enjoyed the overall dynamic of these two! the puppy play is definitely Present, but all the heavier kink scenes are fade to black. despite what the title would suggest, there isn't much daddy kink here

His Captive Pet and Protecting His Pet by Measha Stone - nonconsensual puppy play and kink life in general. these ones are pretty intense, and the FMCs are actively distressed by the fact that their consent is ignored. but the puppy play here is realllyyyy heavy - full on living in kennels, sleeping in dog beds, being walked on leashes, all of that. but they're also very dark books, so keep that in mind

Ooooo so I discovered this book on Tik Tok and all I can think of is Channing Tatum saying, “imma bout to make a name for myself” this book definitely made its name for me!

So we start off in a dystopian world. We follow the character Ivy, who is a feral omega..well deemed feral by the council. We don’t get a ton of Ivy’s backstory, we catch bits and pieces of it but I’m hopeful we will get more of it in the second book! Ivy is abused in the home she’s in that’s for “feral” omegas! I do enjoy Ivy’s character! She has a spirit to her and doesn’t just take whatever life throws at her. She tries!

Shortly after we begin to meet the MMCs. I have mixed feelings about how some of them were portrayed. I loved all of the characters but i definitely had a favorite. I wish we would’ve gotten a better bonding feeling between the MMCs. However I do understand that their group or pack is essential a military assassin group.

Thane, is essentially the pack leader. He is supposed to be the reasonable one and he is the first to meet Ivy. Hes also the first person to really show her a “softness.” Personally, I believe he’s the most calm natured of the group and tries to evaluate the full situation.

Plague, is the medic of the group! Hes described as wearing a bird mask so all I see when I read his character is the Plague Doctors, I think the author did a good job with a little play on words with this. He definitely is the “smarter” one in the group when it comes to Ivy. Granted Ivy has some medical needs when she comes to them so he knows how to help her.

Whiskey, well he’s whiskey. I think the author used him as a comedic relief to help lighten the book up. I really enjoyed it though. Personally, I think he would be my second favorite character in the story.

Vakel, personally I couldn’t get into his character. Partly because he’s a bit like a mystery? The author doesn’t go into a lot of detail about him. He seems to be one that could be angry super quickly but to me his character needed a bit more for me.

Last but not least, Wraith! Now he is my favorite character! We learn later in the book he is mute and he is often referred as a monster. But hey we love the challenges right? He strikes me as someone who was hurt deeply. His friends seem to not have a lot of trust in him since he has such a high blood lust. I won’t give spoilers but there’s one scene that changes my perspective on him soooo much. He became my favorite quickly!

Even though these are big burly men, it’s all about consent. And this is part of her healing journey!

I had to take a little moment for myself when I read this. It broke my heart a bit but I was so glad that Ivy was finally getting a bit of healing in her journey!

This book is a slow burn! We don’t have really any spicy scenes between the FMC and MMC until the last few chapters! It definitely works for this book because I think Ivy needed time to heal and feel comfortable and work on trusting the MMCs!

It does end on a cliffhanger! Now it’s not a huge cliffhanger but it’s there. I typically HATE cliffhangers like I won’t read a book if I know it ends on a cliffhanger if the other one isn’t out. But this one was manageable. It was a gentle one.

Overall I’m super excited for the second book! I’m so glad that I came across this on Tik Tok! Please note this is a darker book so check the trigger warnings before you read! Also the author has really nice art on Tik Tok as well from this book. I couldn’t find who actually did the pieces or I would’ve posted them with credit because they are amazing!

Morning Glory by Lavyrle Spencer: cried literally from just how healthy and beautiful their whole relationship was. Western/WW2. Beautiful writing. Flawed characters. This book was a 12/10 at least. BUT NOT KU UNFORTUNATELY :(

Against A Wall by Cate C Wells THIS BOOK HERE IS NARUTO FROM AGAIN. HE IS MY INSPIRATION, MY MUSE, MY EVERYTHING. MY HIMBO!! Love Cash more than life itself. AND IT'S KU ;)

Win Some, Lose Some : MMC on the spectrum, high-school setting, 18, such a healthy lovely relationship. Loved her and loved him. Only MMC's perspective.

Real Players Never Lose by Micaela Smeltzer. He's sweet and hot and a college jock but intelligent and loves his plus-size baddie to bits.

Beast in Shining Armor by Cassandra Gannon. I just loved them. He was beautiful, mean, but so, so in love with her. Enemies-to-Lovers but make it i-loved-you-since-we-were-just-kids. Fantasy, crazy writing, awesome setting.

Bass-Ackwards by Eris Adderly. I won't say anything just age-gap and not ethical. But awesome. Read at you orn risk heheheh

Nine Minutes by Beth Flynn. This is a trilogy and has no business being this good. THE PLOT WAS HEAVY WILD CRAZY AND A WHOLE FUCKING LOT. But it all made sense!!!!!!! Warning though: it's underage.

Dear Grumpy Boss by Julia Wolf. This is sweet with some light angst. Plus-size baddie and hot, rich brother's best friend.

Honestly everything by Claire Kent. Short novellas, lots and lots of smut but holy goodness. 3rd POV. Personally, love her writing, not everyone does though.

Last Light by Claire Kent Embers by Claire Kent (age-gap but make it my-dead-boyfriend's-dad-old. He's literally her dead boyfriend's dad HAHAHA. Post-apocalypse. Just surviving. He's hot in his very own way but oh well, Kent's writing is special in its really weird way. It's kind of a hit or miss hihihi)

Haven by Claire Kent (he's hooooooot and responsible?! i'm always in for that ;)) Hold by Claire Kent (just love it. it's in a kind of sci-fi setting but honestly, Kent's writing is solely focused on the relationship it doesn't really feel like sci-fi) Fall by Claire Kent (this here ladies and gentlemen... DON'T SHOOT ME, HE'S A CAVEMAN. A REAL FUCKING CAVEMAN. I think I need to see a psychiatrist because holy macaroni, this story shouldn't have made me feel so many things. And well, keep in mind he's a caveman in a prehistoric setting... She's not... The dynamic is special)

A Soul To Keep: fantasy and well he's absolutely not human. SIX FREAKING PAGES TO DESCRIBE HIS DICK!!!!! but so so sweet. He just wants to be loved and love.

Consider Me by Becka Mack: adorable read

Eyes of SIlver, Eyes of Gold. Beautiful, healthy relationship. Plot is 12/10. I loved him and her just so much. They work together and we see there relationship develop in a way that's incredible. I would literally give anything to re-read this book for the very first time.

Lord of Scoundrels : beauty and the beast, regency. loved it. Not on KU :( but it's worth buying honestly...

I’m kinda ashamed to say this bit, but I feel like it needs to be said- I think some of my enjoyment came from the fact when I was younger I found a story on Wattpad about a werewolf shifter who became a guard at a prison and found her mate. I loved that story- like read it more than once loved it.

This one was super short. I am a huge sucker for a/b/o fanfics and so yeah I’m looking for them in my books as well. 🙈.

The writing was really good, I found myself wanting this to just go on, I never really wanted it to end.

The characters were nice, while not the most dynamic they each had a personality that definitely set them apart individually. While reading you could tell that whatever depth they had was planned ahead of of time and worked into the story but they came to the reader as ‘aha’ type moments. They at least were each their own person. You could tell exactly who was speaking even without being told.

This was dual POV, both the FMC and MMC got chapters from their perspective. The FMC, is Ellie she is an omega who works as a researcher of a/b/o dynamics and she helps institutes help make things equal/accommodating for everyone and making sure no one is being mistreated due to their presentation. The MMC, is Erik, he is an alpha, and an inmate. He is a serial killer, and the only Alpha in his prison.

Gerard can go fuck himself. Like seriously- he is such an asshole. So can Dr. Porter, they both can go fuck themselves.
