I watched scooby doo and the witch’s ghost for the first time in Years yesterday and even though at this point in my life I don’t remember a lot of the movie very vividly, I Do remember that it influenced my understanding of magic and witchcraft and stuff quite a bit in my childhood, and it was very interesting to look back on it now, so I just wanted to write out a couple of my favorite parts

First of all they delineate between Wiccans and Witches which is interesting but also interesting is that witches are bad guys/evil and Wiccans are good guys

Second it’s the whole “witches are separate from humans” thing where they call normal people mortals and things are strictly hereditary, so like the main guy can only use this witch’s grimoire (I’m not sure if that’s the word they use for it or not because I was kinda half watching) because she (the titular witch) is his ancestor

Third when he reveals that she was a witch and he’s totally a bad guy he refers to himself as a warlock which is one of the only parts of the movie that I vividly remember from childhood and that’s because the line where he says informed my opinion of the whole witch/wizard female/male thing for Years, which was “witch Is female but male is warlock, wizard is gender neutral and everyone else is wrong” (this opinion has obviously changed)

Fourth, and probably my favorite part although it directly goes back to point two, is that when they’re all freaking out because none of them can get rid of this ghost because they’re not Magical, they save the day by having Thorn from the Hex Girls read the spell that banishes the ghost, because it was previously mentioned that she is “1/16 Wiccan” and it Works

Anyway idk but if you’re someone who tries to understand their own thought processes and where they come from I have long believed in rewatching things that you enjoyed in your childhood because you’d be surprised at how much stuff makes you go “huh, is That where that idea comes from?”

I want more platonic stobin and bisexualy disaster Steve and gay disaster Eddie in my life. So I wrote some :)

Steve wanted to scream as he tried the handle again. "Steve. Steve!" Robin pulled him away from the door. "They aren't opening the door, and you're just gonna break the handle. Keith already hates your guts. Don't make it worse." She pointed out, weirdly calm about all of this. "Plus, it's not like we don't share space normally." She says and sinks down to the floor, tugging him down with her.

Steve looked at the door, "Why can't they accept that we're only ever going to be platonic?" He asks and runs a ran through his hair. He was sick of this. Of the comments and the teasing. It stresses him out.

They kept pushing the two of them together, and Steve was worried that it could mess up what friendship he had with Robin. Because Steve's used to messing up and hurting someone, and he really doesn't want to hurt Robin. He has nightmares of outing her by accident and ruining her life. It terrifies him.

"Steve, come on, it's okay. It's just a stupid bathroom. We've shared a bathroom stall. This is bigger than that." She jokes, and he pulls his knees up to his chest.

"I can't do this, Rob." He admits and watches her freeze. Her walls climbed up like he said something really stupid. "I'm sorry, but I'm just-"

She cuts him off, "I get it. You don't want to deal with the backlash of being a lesbian's friend." She says, and he blinks.

"What? No! I don't want to say the wrong thing. I get bitchy when I'm annoyed and I'm easily annoyed when I'm stressed. And I'm stressed! So I don't - I can't be the one to out you. I can't mess that up for you." He says, and it's nice to finally admit his fears.

Robin blinks at him, "That's what- Steve, that's what bothers you about all this?"

Steve nods, "I mess up everything I touch. I can't do that to you, I won't do that to you. Honestly, you should probably find better friends. One who thinks with his brai-"

"Shut up." Robin snaps, and he stops speaking. Looking at her with wide eyes. "You can't talk about my best friend that way. I won't let you," She states.

"You're best friend?"

Her eyes soften, "yeah dingus. Who else would be my best friend? We're soulmates," She decides, and he's confused because she sounds like she means it. "Platonic, with a capital p, soulmates."

He swallows back a ball of emotion, "even if all the kids I babysit-"

"Mother."

"Babysit," he stresses, and she smiles. "Try to get us together at every opportunity and won't believe that we aren't in love. Or that I'm in love with you at the least. I think you're better off because you call me dingus more than my name," he mused.

Robin sighed, "I won't say that it's not annoying. But I'm used to dodging questions about boys, and this way... with you, I have someone to be myself with. That's more important to me than some stupid preteens who think locking us in a bathroom would get us together."

Steve smiles, "last time we shared a bathroom did go pretty well, honestly." She knocked her knee into his. He glanced over at the door. "Do you think they'll give up?"

Robin snorts, "Dustin's more invested in your love life than you are. I don't think he'll give up unless you're dating someone else or the truth comes out."

Steve sighed, chewing his lower lip until something clicked in his head. "What If I come out?"

Robin blinked, "you- what?"

Steve nodded, "I mean I like both but I could just say I favor guys." He shrugs, "it's not like they could disprove it since it's mostly true."

Robin stared at him, "Steve... since when did you- what? Steve oh my god," She shifted onto her knees and slammed into him. "Since fucking when! Why didn't you ever tell me!"

Steve raised an eyebrow, "what do you mean since when? I literally point out hot guys all the time! When we watched watched Rocky Horror, I said Tim Curry was sexy!"

She shook his shoulders, "you did no such thing! You ask if I also think a guy is hot and you said- oh." It clicks for her and she falls back on her ass. She covers her face, "holy shit."

Steve smirks, "holy shit."

A giggle escapes her lips, "you so have a type."

"Shut up," he groans.

But before they can really dig into it, there's a loud knock on the door. "We're gonna open the door in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!" The door swings in a Dustin's hand is over his eyes like he's gonna be scarred at the sight of them.

"We're literally just sitting on the floor Henderson. Not having freaky bathroom sex," Steve rolls his eyes and stands, Robin following suit.

Dustin looks upset like he expect his plan to work. "I don't get it." Steve ruffles his hair as he passes the kid. Robin lets out a small laugh as she stretches her limbs like she had been stuck in there for more than just 15 minutes. Steve turns, and she locks eyes with him, a silent question.

"Kid, I've said this a million times, but I'll say it one more time." He glances at the other kids that had either always been there or gotten here at some point since he'd been locked into the bathroom. "Robin and I will never date. She and I have no romantic feelings for each other. And if you pull this shit when we're at work again, I'll kill you."

"It's not like it was hard to figure out how to check someone out," Max shrugged and Steve huffed at her nonchalant grin from behind the counter.

Steve ushers the kids out from behind the counter before taking his normal spot, looking around at the empty store. Robin moves and bumps shoulders with him. "Platonic feelings only." She gestures between them.

Dustin groan, "I just don't get why!"

Steve glances at Robin, "because I'm too gay for her." He states and everyone goes quiet. "Honestly boobies are so high school." He winks at Robin who looks at him like he's bravely stupid.

"Wait but you dated Nancy?" Mike questioned arms over his chest.

Steve rolled his eyes, "so? I am more picky on who I date. Doesn't matter the gender. Robin doesn't tick my boxes."

"But she should!" Dustin complains and Robin groans.

But then Steve sees someone in the windows, heading towards the doors to Family video. "My type is more," and he just gestures just as the door dings to call their attention to the newcomer.

Eddie Munson glances at the kids and then at Steve. "Sheepies," he says. Eyebrows raised in confusion at the eyes on him. Eddie glanced at Steve, "Harrington, you break the kids?" He asks as all the kids continue to stare at him as he moves to the horror section.

Steve waves his hand, like he can brush off the confusion. "Nah, they're just shocked that I'm not completely in love with Birdie over here."

Everyone's jaw is on the floor as Steve leans his arms on the counter, not even bothering to hide the way he checks Eddie out when the man looks away. "Right," Eddie sighs and grabs a movie. "Well, not everyone's type is jocks." Eddie teases slightly, having warmed up to Steve little by little when Steve picks the kids up from Hellfire.

Steve takes the movie from Eddie, giving him his one free movie he gets for the week and hands it back to Eddie without charging him. "I'll win ya over." He winks, and Eddie's eyes go a little wide.

Eyes glanced around like he could ask if anyone else saw that. "Um, well, yeah, how-how much for the-"

"Consider it on me." Steve waved his hand and then leaned more into Eddie's space, "I haven't seen this one yet."

Eddie swallows, "You should check it out. It's, uh, pretty good."

Steve smiles, "I'm shit with horror, maybe if I had someone to hold my hand through it." He sighs overdramatically, then snaps, "Oh, I know! If you're not busy we could watch it together. I mean, it seems like a scary metalhead like yourself would be capable of holding my hand through the jump scares."

Eddie's eyes are blinking rapidly, "it's for the boys." He says, looking lost. Steve frowns, and Eddie jumps into action, "But I could-" He stops himself and groans. "I've got to- plans- fuck-" He stumbles and practically smacks into the door in his rush to leave family video.

Steve sighs and leans his head down on the counter. Robin pats his back, "I miss my whiteboard." She sighs and he looks up to glare at her.

these are his babies, so of course he is delighted by the play time features some of the games have

One his brothers once transferred one of his Pokémon as a joke and he started crying when he found out

he has to be analytical all the time, he has to think with his head before his heart, so if he is relaxing I think he should be just full of heart and love

Idk much about Pokémon, but I'm crying at this idea. Imma transfer it to something I can understand:

Tim relishes being able to care for game characters/creatures. He enjoys feeding them, buying them clothes/treats/furniture, and overall just doing tasks for these fictional beings. He gives them names and personalities (such as liking certain foods/music/colors).

Although he'll never admit it to himself, he enjoys looking after the physical and emotional needs of these completely fictional characters. The reason for this is his parents' emotional neglect as well as having to care for Bruce throughout his teen years.

With these fictional game characters, there's no pressure or real-life consequences to his actions. He can treasure them without anxiety. He can shower them in the attention he didn't receive and provide for them without worrying that fucking up will lead to Gotham's destruction.

Just Tim, under the covers of his blanket late at night, being lit up by the game screen. His silent and almost desperate adoration of the plethora of fictional beings

here are scraps from chapter 6 + explanations on why they were scrapped!

Scene 1

This was a deleted section from the conversation with Paige and Michael:

Michael just nods in response, letting Paige continue. “I think I’m in love with Azzi.” The verbalization shocks both of them as the words slip out of Paige’s mouth. “And I don’t think she loves me back,” Paige slurs out, hugging her knees for comfort. 

“What makes you think that?” Michael asks a little quieter this time. 

“I just don’t think she sees me like that. I can’t really explain it.” 

Michael hums lowly, continuing to listen. 

“I’m not good enough for her,” Paige pauses for a moment before continuing, “And I don’t think I ever will be.” 

“I think you’re being harsh on yourself.” Michael chimes in finally, “You should talk to Azzi about this. I think you would be surprised at what she has to say.”

“And ruin my relationship with my best friend? No way.” Paige scoffs, “Plus, I can’t give Azzi what she wants… or what she deserves. It wouldn’t be a good idea to tell her.” 

“But are you happy with what you are to her? Are you happy seeing her with other people?”

The question made Paige stop and think. Was she happy? When Azzi had told her about the girl she had hooked up with, Paige had gone on a mini-rampage, finding random girls to sleep with every chance she had. She had chalked it up to being in college and an unlimited population of girls who wanted her (which was true still), but she would be lying if she said Azzi hooking up with someone else didn’t influence her choices. It had hurt her more than she anticipated and that hurt terrified her. 

“It doesn’t matter what I feel. I can’t lose her. If I told her right now then we would have to date. And if we dated that means we would break up. And if we broke up, well- well then our friendship would be over and I don’t know if I can handle that.” 

“Why would you have to break up? You’re dooming a relationship before it even starts. What’s the point of that?” 

Paige shakes her head, “I’m not dooming anything, I’m just being realistic.”

“Or you’re projecting your commitment issues.” Michael cuts in quickly, causing Paige to have a mildly offended look on her face. 

“I do not have commitment issues!” Paige exclaims.

Explanation:

I didn't want Paige's first verbalization of loving azzi to be in this chapter (aka want it to be a bigger moment)

I thought the outward mention of her commitment issues was too cliche and scrapped that

just not well written and flowed awkwardly to me idk

Scene 2

This scene jumped from multiple places such as the beginning on the basketball court and the bathroom scene at the party:

“We would get to spend three years playing together, that’s one.” Paige says, counting off her fingers, “We would get to hang out at any time, go to bars together, and just have more freedom. I mean I love Katie and Tim, and my parents are good about letting us sleep over, but let’s be honest we always have to end shit early, and that’s just two. I got like three more.”

Paige takes a step closer to Azzi, in her face now. 

“Three, we would be teammates and you know how well we worked together in Team USA. We are like Curry and Thompson. See? I even used an NBA player you knew. That’s just how well I know you.” Paige says with a shit-eating grin on her face, warranting a tiny shove from the brunette. 

“Four, I want you to meet my friends. I just know you would get along with everyone. Why would I not want the best team for you? And you would love Geno. He’s a tough coach and I know you like that.” Paige just smiles, resting both her arms on Azzi’s shoulders. 

“And five?” Azzi asks a bit quieter when Paige doesn’t respond for a moment, just staring at the younger girl with a flirty smile.

“We could be as loud as we want,” Paige says while maintaining eye contact, only breaking it once to glance down at Azzi’s lips. 

“Oh yeah? Is that why you want me to come? I didn’t realize my Mom telling us to quiet down while playing Fortnite was so annoying. I’ll ask her to back off.” Azzi says while feigning innocence, not wanting to play whatever game Paige was playing.

“Yeah, it gets really annoying when our hangouts get interrupted. I mean we’re just two girls tryna have fun, what crime are we committing by laughing too hard?” Paige says, playing along with Azzi. 

“I guess I just have to come so we can laugh into the night together,” Azzi says while leaning in for a kiss. 

Explanation:

it lowkey killed me to take this out because i liked the way i wrote it but i just didn't have a use for it

kinda forward and i wanted paige's reasons for wanting azzi to come to uconn to be less superficial? if that makes sense

her actual list will be revealed later in the fic

Scene 3

This was the original ending to the fic, i just didn't like it that much:

“Do you remember that party we went to before you committed when I asked you to narrow down to two schools?”

Azzi looks at her, confused, “What does that have to do anything?” “Just trust me. Do you remember that night?” Paige says, still unsure of where she is going herself. 

“Yes, you were being an asshole… what does that have to do with anything?” 

“I made of list of every single reason I wanted you to come to UCONN, but I never told you because I was too scared to tell you how I felt.” 

Azzi looks back curiously now, wanting to know more.

“And I thought about sending you that list every single day leading up to your commitment because it was driving me insane"  

“But I realize now, that I can’t do this anymore with you. I can’t sit and hold back every single time we talk about something serious because it’s been years of this back-and-forth and it’s driving me insane.” Paige pauses for a moment before continuing, “I’m not going to tell you what to do because that’s up to you to decide. But if you're genuinely asking me if I think you should get married to Ben, I'm going to say no."

Explanation:

I initially wrote this with the intention of this being the moment Paige tells Azzi she shouldn't get married, but it felt way to premature and i just didn't like the level of impact it would've had to the plot

I didn't like most of the wording

too much blatant flashbacking, felt unnatural

this is a slow burn and this would simply be too much progression when it hasn't even been a full 24 hours of them being resolved friends again (aka wtf was i thinking)

Emporio Ivankov and Bon Clay seem to be celebrated as excellent examples of queer representation in anime. However, at least to me, they both seem like horrible caricatures. Please tell me I'm wrong, and this is just One Piece's unusual art style playing tricks on me. Because One Piece has had so many Characters in the Canon Pride polls, and they all look like caricatures in some way. Now I know it's a Shonen anime that's been on for a long time, so the bar isn't necessarily high for good lgbtq representation, especially when compared to others in the same genre from the same time period. But does One Piece have good lgbtq+ representation and characters, not just queerbaiting like actual canon characters? I specifically named Emporio Ivankov and Bon Clay because they look the worst to me based on character design.

Okay, these two characters are going to require some background information to help explain them. Just based on your question, so everyone is on the same page before we start defending blorbos

Here are photos of both male and female versions of Emporio Ivankov since they switch between them. But for more info, Emporio Ivankov ate The Horu Horu no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that grants the user the ability to create a variety of special hormones that can alter the recipient's body in any way the user desires, making the user a Hormone Controlling Human. So they can change their gender and anyone's gender at will. They are a founding member of the Revolutionary Army. Plus, they are also the Queen of an island of canon genderqueer people.

Plus, their design is based on the iconic Tim Curry character Dr. Frank-N-Furter from The Rocky Horror Picture Show

This is Bentham, aka Bon Clay. He ate The Mane Mane no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to turn themselves into a physical double of anyone they touch, making the user an Imitating Human. So basically, they're a shapeshifter with some limitations. He did start out as a villain, but now he's the queen of the Queer Paradise "Newkama Land" in Impel Down that the prisoners made to hide from the guards. It was initially created and ruled over by Emporio Ivankov until they escaped and returned to their home island.

I know that was a lot of background information, but I thought it was necessary based on the question. Now, any other defense of the characters and other lgbtq+ One Piece characters I will leave to the rest of the One Piece Fandom. So, One Piece fandom, Defend Your Blorbo

April's crossover art features Ferngully: The Last Rainforest!

Coach is trying his damndest to seal away Hexxus for good!

Definitely a childhood favorite of mine, Ferngully is one of those 'save the ecosystems' type stories where the bad guy is the embodiment of pollution that has to be sealed away by the fairies to keep the rainforest safe. And you really can't go wrong with a villain voiced by Tim Curry. Plus there's a fun bat character voiced by Robin Williams who has a very catchy rap song. Because yes this is also a musical with a few musical numbers to bop to. It definitely shows its age though with it's very 80s/90s lingo, though I don't think it was supposed to take place in modern days but actually more in the future. Avoid the sequel at all costs though, it is insanely terrible with one of the worst most obnoxious musical numbers I've ever heard.

From the MOMENT Devil first spoke all I’ve heard is Dr. Frank N. Furter from Rocky Horror; nothing can convince me he wasn’t an influence for Devil’s character so of course I had to draw it 😂 I love Tim Curry, I love Devil, and Frankie has always been a special character to me so this was just fantastic to draw, plus Dice as Columbia was just too perfect. I have more crossover Halloweeny ideas in mind so stay tuned for those!!!!

The Bad Kids and Rocky Horror Picture Show

(In my brain, the Black Pit has monthly shadowcast showings)

Fig: Fucking loves it. She’s been to so many midnight showings and has single handedly dragged every single member of the Bad Kids with her at least once. She can and will play all the songs on her bass. She is counting down the days until she’s old enough to join the shadowcast. She really enjoys talking with the actors when they have a smoke break after the show. She would dress up as Magenta, but she secretly sees her freshmen year self in Janet (repressed innocent looking girl to hooking up with men she just met pipeline)

Kristen: Soon after coming out, Fig and Tracker take her to a showing. She was very wide-eyed trying to take it all in and a little scandalized at first, but she comes back and gets really into the audience participation part. Her ADHD can’t-shut-the-fuck-up brain loves a movie where she can just yell stuff and not get in trouble. She knows every traditional line and adds her own. She owns a Columbia costume that she wears with Fig’s Magenta

Riz: Respects it for what it means to his friends but you could Not pay him to go to a showing. He is not interested and does not understand why all his horny friends like it (Alternatively: He went once with Fig without knowing what it was about. He was one of the virgin sacrifices and left with Fig shortly after)

Adaine: After going to it once, Rocky Horror becomes her Aelwyn’s parties. While she’s not a huge fan of all the sex parts of it, she fully loves having a space where she can be weird and loud and herself. The first time she dressed up, she was really anxious about it, what if no one else was in costume, but when they got there she saw a bunch of other people dressed up and felt better about it. Her first time, she goes as Riff to match Fig and Kristen (plus she loves just being a weird guy and having an excuse to silently stare off into space at random times (it’s in-character)), She also realized, with horror, that one of her old school uniforms would’ve made a good Dr. Scott costume

Gorgug: He’s been a couple times with the group. It’s not really his vibe and the movie isn’t his favourite, but he really loves the experience of going to see it with his friends. He’s added a couple of the songs to his playlists (Alternatively: He went once, saw his parents there and refuses to go back)

Fabian: You cannot convince me this repressed bisexual with a thing for toxic women didn’t take one look at Tim Curry in drag and suddenly have some Realizations. He gets a crush on the shadowcast actor who played Frank, but utterly fails at trying to talk to them after the show. He also gets really into doing the time warp every time. Fig has gotten him to go in an Eddie costume
