Tuesday! 9/13/22 That means DANCE AND YOGA! Today's Affirmation is " I Trust Myself" OOh Boy that one is going to hit home for me. In Gentle Yoga, we will be continuing our study of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras with Chapter 1 Verse 13. " Of these two, (practice and non-attachment) effort towards steadiness of mind is practice. " Our Asana Practice will focus on Core and Balance as " We learn to trust ourselves." 6pm $25 Drop In, $80 for the 4-week session. In Dance Core Basics, We will echo the themes of Core and Balance. We will start at the barre with Tendus, Rond De Jambs, and Releves, moving to the center to work on isolations hip, chest, and core. Then finally working to trust ourselves with free movement. 7pm $25 Drop in, $80 for the 4-week session. Yoga saved me in many ways. ⁠ ⁠ When I was working two jobs and around 60+ hours a week, it was a one-hour Saturday yoga class that soothed me. ⁠ ⁠ When I was battling negative body image issues and dysmorphia, it was yoga that helped me accept and respect my body and its capabilities. ⁠ ⁠ When I was fed up with being overworked, underpaid, and undervalued, it was yoga where I heard Spirit speak and say "it's time to think bigger". ⁠ ⁠ Yoga helped me breathe⁠ Yoga helped me relax ⁠ Yoga helped me explore ⁠ Yoga helped me connect deeper with myself. ⁠ ⁠ After a year of disconnect, my spirit craved yoga once again. I even tried to complete Yoga Teacher Training. If you’d told me a year ago I’d be teaching yoga, at the farmers market, 8 and a half months pregnant, I would have laughed... then cried. A year ago I was deep in the grief of losing my first pregnancy. I wasn’t doing any yoga at all. It would’ve taken a lot to imagine being a pregnant yoga teacher. But here I am. I was so happy to be representing Story Yoga this morning. So grateful to be teaching in the grass in the bright sun. So delighted to rock out with my preggo belly out. I moved a couple of weeks ago and am finally mostly settled in. I wouldn't say that I'm 100% happy with the move, but it was the smart thing for me to do, and I'm back in my hometown, where I have a safe neighborhood for walking, which I have missed the last few years. On my walking route is this huge, beautiful oak tree--it used to have more limbs to climb on, but those seem to have been cut off since I've last seen it. Just standing under it is so peaceful...cool, shady, and filled with the soft chirping of birds. Yoga is something I've always loved. Being able to practice in the comfort of my home is such a blessing. I don't have to worry about being judged, I don't have to worry if I need to take a breather, I don't need to focus on anything other than my body, my mind, and breathing. . . . While I mostly do my yoga at home, I can also do it in the park, at a gym, at the airport, at the beach, and anywhere I have access to my phone (yes, even in the forest --the workouts are downloadable!).
