Use your 3rd house & Mercury for manifestation
Finding your own manifestation method that gives consistent results, at a consistent frequency is peak life magic for me.
My manifestation method is called "Written coloured words on calendar". I have a theory that since Mercury is associated with The Magician in Tarot, it has something to do with manifesting, especially by using verbal or written words. Mercury will help manifesting the themes of the house that it rules. While the energy of the planet that rules your 3rd house will be the tool to communicate and express your messages.
Do give it a try and tell me if it's effective for you too. If you have your own manifestation method, feel free to spread the magic.
1. What you need
Coloured pens (the colour of the ink of the pen or the lead if you are using pencils, not the colour of the case)
A calendar that has space to write on (other things like a piece of paper or notebook don't work)
Basic astrology knowledge & your chart: you should know what planet rules your 3rd house and what house does Mercury rule in your chart
2. How I do it
The colour: Choose the pen with the colour that matches the colour associated with the planet that rules your 3rd house.
The phrase: I write "I want/need change" with that coloured pen around the space of the present day on the calendar. The phrase should be short, with a broad meaning, conveys the matters related to the house that Mercury rules in your chart. Don't be too specific like I want a red dress or I want 100$, start with general terms like asking for changes, surprises, chances, opportunities, helps, guidance.
Timing: the manifestation will happen within the next week, without fail, this is how it worked for me, the speed might depend on the planet that rules your 3rd house.
Example of how it works: I have Mercury rules my 3rd house & 6th house so it can be straightforward, whenever I wrote "I want change" with green (colour of Mercury) pen on the calendar, within the next week, a new business partnership/offer & more works (3rd & 6th house matters) appeared, I met someone new who would have Gemini or Virgo or both placements in their chart, who I would do business with, work with, travel with or became my friend (3rd & 6th house matters).
*Notes:
So you won't be able to manifest other things related to different houses & planets other than 3rd house and Mercury? → Most likely, I've tried with different houses & planets but it usually had short-term effect or no observable effect, while 3rd house and Mercury gave more long-term effects.
Each manifestation works only once, if you want it to happen again, you will need to write again.
3. Colours associated with each planet & their effect
Here is the list of effects I have observed through the years practising this. It can change depending on your chart though, try to experiment with each one yourself.
Yellow - Sun: Joyful events
Grey - Moon: No observable effect
Green - Mercury: Business, friendships, partnerships (strongest manifestation power, at least for me)
Pink - Venus: Interactions, pleasant exchanges
Red - Mars, Black - Pluto: Immediate unpleasant effects like traffic problems, meeting people in bad moods, troubles with machines, things become more hectic
Navy - Saturn, Blue - Uranus, Teal - Neptune : No observable effect
Purple - Neptune/Jupiter : Increase or decrease of interactions with people, can give rise to popularity but can also slow down your progress (I haven't really figured out this one yet)
Orange - Jupiter: Chances to expand your perspective, be more brave, test your resolution and faith. Some events can be negative at first but will turn out alright, after that you will learn some valuable lessons.

How to manifest (Law of Attraction) for 8th house and Scorpio placements:

The 8th house, like Scorpio, is ruled by Pluto, the great God of the underworld, of the bowels of the Earth. It is the magnetic force of Pluto that acts on the Earth's core, which is why people with important placements in the 8th house and Scorpio are magnetic, they have that sublime magnetism that pulls people in, attracting them with that something that people generally don't know how to define it exactly.
Unlike the magnetism of the Sun, which is hot and radiates light and which everyone wants to be close to its heat, Pluto is quiet, cold, it’s extremely silent, it is that spirit that stands still in one of the corners of the room, without anyone noticing it. It's energy is not clearly perceived, felt, but it's so strong, so strong, that it doesn't need clear manifestations, "scandalous" situations to show itself. Its vibration is extremely low but he is extremely powerful. Pluto gets what he wants because his strength is vibrating so strongly within itself that it becomes a pole of magnetism for the things around him. Pluto governs irresistible attractions, governs the depths of the earth (the richest and purest gold), governs the most lethal bombs, governs the most dangerous places, Pluto governs the strength to walk through “Hell”.
Okay, so how to manifest using Pluto?
1- Look inside yourself and see what/how your thoughts are.
Have you ever stopped to think about where/what your thoughts are most of the time? You may be dwelling on what someone did to you, your mind may be fixated on the bad things that happened to you in the past, you may be furious with your insufferable boss or your ex's new girlfriend. You're going to have to start paying attention from now on - while you're manifesting - where your thoughts are in the moment.
2- Change your thoughts from what bothers you to what you want.
You know what you want, 8th house and Scorpio individuals always have something they really want and they know what it is. So, from the moment you start manifesting you will have to redirect your thoughts from the things that bother you to the things that please you, the things that you really want. This process is not easy, you may need to heal some wounds from the past first, so that you can finally have a strong and clear mind to act on your desires.
3 – Write what you want and don’t show it to anyone
Write down what you really want to manifest, you can use any type of manifestation method (scripting), write with all your heart what you want to manifest, be it a boyfriend, be it a position at work, be it the fame you want to gain, connect with the desire and let your words flow. Keep the notebook/sheet in secret (Pluto), and let its manifestation be something intimate between you (8th house or Scorpio placement) and Pluto (force of the Universe).
4 - Activate your personal power
You are angry that things are not going the way you want, you feel ugly, you feel disconnected from yourself, you feel bad inside yourself. Look, this is the hardest part. You will have to change your entire emotional universe to work deeply with your emotions, remember, the 8th house is the house of deep emotions, just like the 12th house, you will have to dive completely within yourself, to discover what hurts you (8th house), what you are afraid of losing (8th house), what gives you pleasure (8th house) even if it is prohibited. You will enter one of the most sensitive areas of yourself. There's no getting away with Pluto, however. If you want your gold, you'll have to walk through hell first. Remember, however, that Persephone had the help of Hecate, Dante had the help of Virgil, so you can also ask for help, whether from a psychologist, through witchcraft, meditation, or through physical or emotional self-care.
5 – Keep working on your personal power
After you understand your inner universe, now it's time to activate the power of Pluto. “What I want also wants me”, “What is mine is coming to me”, “I love myself, I accept my intensity, I accept my power. My power doesn’t scare me”, “I’m not going to give that power to him/her, I have the power to move forward, I have the power to change this situation”. These are some of the phrases that you will repeat to yourself, at any time of the day, while you are manifesting, you can create others, just remember that they should remind you of your personal power, that they should affirm your power, be creative and repeat firmly because Pluto will listen to you.
6-End: Don't be afraid of the journey
Pluto rules you, baby! Don't be afraid of the shadows, let them work for you, not against you, the dark cannot scare you, you are a creature of the depths, a child of the realms of the darkness. Good luck!

Welcome Back Home
Phic Phight Fic for Avi!
Danny may have been a superhero. He may have been annoying. He may even have been ‘practically an adult.’ He was still Jazz’s little brother. The one who had once begged her for play time and increasingly baffling milkshake combinations. The one who helped her fight reanimated turkeys every Christmas. The one who painstakingly researched what books to give her for her birthday.
So, it wasn't so much a choice to throw herself between him and her parents’ newest and most worrying weapon as it was a reflex. If any thought crossed her mind while she dashed across the parking lot and into the path of the beam, it was either this is going to hurt or I hope I'm fast enough.
Well, it didn't hurt. It did drop her in the Ghost Zone. Immediately, She whirled, trying to find the portal.
Way back, when she and Danny had come clean about their respective secrets, Danny had sat her down for what he called his ‘Ghost Zone Survival Guide.’
“Okay,” he'd said, spinning in his spinny chair, “Ghost Zone survival, part one. Don't go there.”
Tucker had snorted. Jazz, who had taken out a fresh notebook and her special note-taking gel pens, glared at him.
“I'm serious,” Danny had defended himself. “The Zone isn't a good place for humans.”
“Why?”
“Do you want some reason other than it operating under different laws of physics and being full of super-powered people who don't care if they kill you by mistake? The radiation, maybe?”
“Never mind. Go ahead.”
“That's what I thought. Anyway, if you wind up going through an unstable or temporary portal, the first thing you need to do is go back through that portal. Like, forget about anything else that's going on. Fights, escapes, your car, other people, get yourself back through.”
“That seems a bit callous,” Jazz had said.
“Well, maybe. But the Ghost Zone is huge, and natural portals and temporary portals aren't just unstable in space, they're unstable in time.”
“They could spit you out in my first life, the middle ages, a thousand years in the future, you name it,” Tucker had helpfully added.
“First life?”
“Don't worry about it,” Danny had said.
“Pharaonic Egypt,” Tucker had answered.
“The point is,” Danny had continued loudly, “you don't want to take a chance with portals unless you know they're stable or have the Infi-Map.”
“Or time grandpa has your back.”
“Stop calling him that.”
“Who is–”
“It doesn't matter. He doesn't have your back. He doesn't have anyone's back.”
Tucker had made a noise of negation. “He has your back.”
Danny had responded by beaning his friend with a pillow.
Somehow, despite being genuinely informative, Jazz had come away from the ‘lesson’ With more questions than answers. None of which were pertinent to her present situation.
She turned on the spot again, surveying her surroundings in more detail. It didn't help. No matter which direction she turned in, there was no portal.
So. Step one: failed.
Onto step two.
“What if I can't get back through the portal though?” Jazz had asked.
“Well, if you aren't being actively attacked–”
“You should definitely take care of that first if you are.”
“If you aren't under attack, see if you can spot any landmarks. If you can see one, you'll at least have a general idea of where you are. Mostly.”
“We're making a map,” Tucker had said, “but it sucks.”
“That's not a comment on our self-confidence or whatever,” Danny had said before Jazz could interject. “Stuff moves in the Ghost Zone. It's kind of like trying to make a map of the solar system. If you're sitting on Jupiter, you know where the sun is, and you've got a pretty good idea about the inner planets, but unless you have a model you can put the time into, you're not going to have any idea where Pluto is.”
“And you wouldn't know the right time, either,” Jazz had said, contemplatively.
“Exactly. But landmarks are still good. They'll give you your general area, at least. And maybe what else is around, too.” He'd given her a photo album full of Ghost Zone landmarks, then, and they'd spent the next half hour going through them.
Jazz was on a floating island. It was medium-sized, perhaps a dozen or so acres square on this side, full of softly rolling hills covered with purple grass and pale green flowers. As far as Jazz could tell, there wasn't anything else on it, although that didn't mean there wasn't. It didn’t look like any place she'd seen or heard of.
Offshore, the Zone was a moderately-familiar green-on-green. Foggy ectoplasm and the lack of anything like a horizon made it difficult to judge distances.
There were a few other islands Jazz could see. Something like a mountain range, a floating sphere, and, just on the edge of her vision, a slightly more regular conglomeration of shapes that could have been a town.
Bingo.
“If you don't recognize anything, do your best to head towards civilization.”
Jazz had raised an eyebrow at that. “Despite the super-powered people who don't care if I die?”
“She’s got you there, Danny my man.”
“Ugh, why couldn't Sam have been here?”
“Gasp, don't tell me you forgot the mega-ultra-turbo grounding already? How could you?”
Danny had thrown another pillow at Tucker. “You're so unhelpful. Anyway, people are dangerous, but they're also the only place you're going to get directions.”
“And if I see something, how do I get there? Considering everything is a flying island.”
“That’s a bit tricky.”
Jazz bounced on her the balls of her feet, staring down the green void between herself and her destination. She’d never done this before, and despite Danny and Tucker’s attempts at an explanation, or even Sam’s later on… Well, she felt like she should’ve convinced them to bring her to the Ghost Zone to practice.
There was nothing she could do but try. She closed her eyes and jumped into the air, believing she could fly with all her might. Her feet hit the ground again. Damn.
One, two, three, she tried again, and again, and again, and then, finally, when she got mad, when she got frustrated, her feet left the ground and stayed off the ground. She was flying, like only a human in the Ghost Zone could fly.
She opened her eyes and looked over to the distant probably-town. It was just as distant as before. And now she was exhausted from jumping. Both the jumping right now, and the jumping into the line of fire she’d done earlier.
Well, no time like the present to get going. She took off.
The little details of Danny’s advice hadn’t stuck with her - he’d really waxed poetic - but she was still able to move forward. She also spent a lot of time moving down whenever her concentration slipped. Of course, she knew it wasn’t really down, thanks to those same conversations with Danny. It was just the direction she perceived as down, or something like that.
Danny liked flying like this. Danny liked every method of flying to ever exist. Jazz, personally, hated it. A lot. Every minute that passed, every time she slipped, she was terrified that she would go plunging into the murky depths of the Zone, never to be seen again.
Danny hadn’t been wrong about the Ghost Zone not being good for humans.
Thank goodness the town really was a town. She wasn’t sure what she would have done if it wasn’t.
“If I do get to civilization–”
“--or what passes for it–” Tucker had said.
“--what do I do then? Be polite, I assume, but what’s polite for ghosts? What are the cultural touchstones? The social norms?”
“Dunno,” Danny had said. “It’s not like ghosts are just one big group that’s all the same. But if you get to a group of ghosts, like, I don’t know a village or something, they’ll all probably be fairly tolerant. To live together without fighting, you know? Normal politeness will be fine. Probably. Assuming they can speak English.”
She managed a landing at the edge of the town. She hit too hard, and her knees buckled. A few ghosts stopped what they were doing - she didn’t know what, couldn’t spare the attention while flying - to stare at her. With an effort she smiled at them. Closed lips. Many cultures considered smiles with teeth to be aggressive or rude.
“Hi,” she said. “I was wondering if you could help me.”
“Kio? Kio ŝi diris?”
“Mi ne scias, mi ne parolas la francan.”
Ah. She should’ve taken up Tucker’s offer to teach her some basic Esperanto. Danny was never going to let her live this down.
“Okay, so, what do I do if they don’t speak English?” she’d asked.
“Get good at charades? You probably won’t be able to get good directions without speaking the language - I have no idea how you’d do the portal in charades - but you can trade stuff. Bargain, barter, whatever you want to call it.”
“For food? Supplies?”
“Eh, not food, actually. Ghost Zone food is mostly ectoplasm. Not good for humans.”
“Then what? Well, you’ll think it’s crazy, but…”
Somehow or another, she got the idea of marketplace and trade across to the ghosts. Apparently the Esperanto word was related to the English. Cousins. Brothers. Whatever, it didn’t matter.
What did matter was what she was going to trade to the ghosts. All she had was her purse, and for a teenage girl, she traveled light. She had her wallet, parking change, a small handful of coupons, number two pencils, a pencil sharpener, a pen, various hygiene products, lipstick, laser, lipstick laser, sunscreen, the universal pocket psychology guide, granola bars, a screwdriver, a couple of bolts from the Peeler - if only she kept that in her purse - spiked bracelet from Spike, phone, and, okay, she didn’t pack that light. There should be something in all this that the ghosts here would probably like.
The ghosts who had seen her less-than-stellar landing ushered her to a colorful, cloth-covered stall, the contents of which looked like the detritus of a million flea markets. The ghost… manning it? Ghosting it? Haunting it? What was the terminology in this case? Whatever. The ghost at the stall was pale green and nondescript except for the swathes of polka-dotted cloth wrapped around their body.
They stared at her with wide eyes. “Ĉu tio estas homo? Viva homo?”
She smiled, forcefully. That didn’t sound like a hello, but she’d take it. “Hello,” she said. “Do you have any boxes?” She made the shape of a box with her hands.
“The Box Ghost? You’re saying that if I can’t get directions, my next step is to try to summon the Box Ghost?”
“Hey, believe it or not I’ve got an agreement with a lot of the regulars. If they bring back lost humans, they get, um. A nonlethal free day. In Amity Park. I can get you a list. And even if you end up in a weird time, like, before I made the deal or something, the Box Ghost is pretty easy. Worst case scenario, you can even let Walker catch you. He always sends humans back.”
Jazz sat on the edge of the town, a cardboard box in hand, purse lighter by a novelty pencil sharpener and the spare screws and bolts. “Oh, great and powerful and completely terrifying Box Ghost,” she said, feeling ridiculous. “I have an offering for your awful, terribleness. It’s cubical and cardboard-ical. Cardboard. Whatever.” She sighed. “This isn’t going to work, is it?”
“DID SOMEONE CALL UPON THE FRIGHTENING AND FRIGHTFUL BOX GHOST, MASTER OF RECTANGULAR CARDBOARD PACKAGES?”
Jazz shrieked and almost fell off the island.
The Box Ghost blinked down at her. “Beware?” he said.
“Hi,” said Jazz. “A gift?” She held up the box.
“THE CARDBOARD IS MINE!” He leaped on the box and held it to his chest like a baby. “What do you want from the HORRIFYING BOX GHOST?”
“So, uh, I know you have a deal with my brother?”
“WHOMST?”
“My brother,” repeated Jazz. “Danny. Phantom?”
The Box Ghost stared at her blankly.
“To get humans back to Amity Park?”
“THE BOX GHOST DOES NOT KNOW THE REALM OF WHICH YOU SPEAK?”
That wasn’t good. The opposite, really. If the Box Ghost didn’t recognize Danny’s name…
“What if I am in the past?” Jazz had asked.
“Get back to Earth anyway, and survive. Find a way to get a message to the present. Between the Infi-Map and, um, other contacts I have–”
“Time grandpa,” Tucker interjected.
“I should be able to go get you if I know where and when you are. But I need to know when and where you are.”
Then, Jazz had asked why he couldn't just pick her up at the exact moment she'd arrived, if he was going to time travel anyway, and that had spurred a migrane-inducing argument about paradoxes. Jazz had gotten the impression that the real reason was more along the lines of ‘Danny isn’t allowed to have any more paradoxes’ than ‘the universe won't let paradoxes exist.’
Jazz smiled thinly. “Can you get me to Earth?” she asked. “Please? It’ll be worth your while.”
“Worth the while of the GREAT BOX GHOST?”
“Yep. It might take a while, but you’ll get more of those.” She nodded towards the box in the ghost’s arms. “Consider it an investment in future, um, fear.”
“FEAR?”
“Yes. As in, um, fear me?”
“No, you shall FEAR ME!”
“Exactly,” said Jazz. “Just like that. Can you do it? Or… is it beyond the powers of even the Box Ghost?”
“NOTHING IS BEYOND THE BOX GHOST! I AM EXTREME IN EVERY WAY! THE BOX GHOST WILL SHOW THE STRANGE GIRL WITH GIFTS THE WAY TO HIS SECRET PORTAL!”
At least something was going right. “Thanks,” Jazz said. “That sounds great. I really appreciate it. Where is it?”
“FOLLOW ME!” The Box Ghost paused. “AND FEAR ME!”
He flew off, and Jazz struggled to keep up. Luckily, the Box Ghost was courteous enough to stop for her every once in a while. The flight seemed to go on forever, but, eventually, they came to a stop in front of a twisting, spluttering portal.
“Does this really lead to the Earth?” Jazz asked.
“THE BOX GHOST DOES NOT LIE!”
“Oh, no, I didn’t mean to imply that. It’s just… is it always so sparky?”
“IT IS UNSTABLE! ONLY THE BOX GHOST IS BRAVE ENOUGH TO USE IT!”
Which meant that it could spit her out anywhere, at any time. But at least she’d be on Earth, AKA somewhere she could eat the food and drink the water.
“It doesn’t come out above an ocean, does it?”
“THERE ARE NO BOXES IN THE OCEAN. THE BOX GHOST HAS NO USE FOR IT.”
“What about crab pots?” asked Jazz.
“THE BOX GHOST DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH THE COUNCILS OF CRABS.”
Jazz… wasn’t going to examine that too closely. She braced herself and flew into the portal. The transition this time wasn’t the smooth, blink-and-you’re-in-another-dimension it had been with her parents’ weapon. It had turbulence, and lots of it. It was like being in a washing machine. Or a blender. A really fast blender. One that pulsed and shook and sang a song while it was at it.
It spit her out ten feet above ground. It wouldn’t have been a problem for a ghost, but for a human… Well, at least she didn’t break any bones. Instead, she laid, winded, on the ground. Tall grass framed her vision on all sides. The sun was hot overhead. Which was… less than ideal. It had been Autumn this morning. However long from now that was.
Jazz rubbed her temples. All she had to do was send a message, satisfy Danny’s no-paradox rule, and then she’d be home. Until then, she would survive. She refused to saddle Danny with the guilt associated with her disappearing.
She got up. Looked around. There was a dirt road. She staggered over to it and flipped a coin to decide whether to go left or right. Left it was.
She grew steadier as she walked, but the heat was punishing. She took off her sweater and was tempted to take her shirt off, too. She was wearing a sports bra underneath. It wasn’t like it’d be indecent.
Unless she’d been dropped into the eighteen hundreds. Best not to risk it.
The dirt road became gravel, became poorly-paved asphalt, merged onto another, bigger road… A road with a recognizable name. Jazz wasn’t that far away from Amity Park. She could probably even call… home…
“I’m stupid,” she said out loud. She pulled out her phone. No service. Typical. She kept walking. And walking. And walking.
And then she saw the smoke. Right where Amity Park should be. She ran, then.
She crested the hill, passed the Welcome to Amity Park sign - something was off about it, but she didn’t stop to try and see what it was. She hit the top of the next hill and stopped.
That– That wasn’t Amity Park. At least, it wasn’t her Amity Park. The buildings were bigger. Shinier. Whiter, even. The logo for the GIW sat proudly on one of the tallest ones.
And so many of them were smashed. Burning. Green blurs swirled and fought with white ones. She sat down.
“And what if I wind up in the future instead?”
“I don't know, hope the rest of us don't cause the apocalypse before you get back?”
There was one more explosion, and then a high-pitched wail, a ghostly wail, threw all of the shapes back and away. The white ones didn’t come back.
Jazz… wasn’t sure what to do. She watched. She waited.
And then a familiar shape appeared out of the air in front of her. It was Danny, but… not. He was thinner. Sharper. There was silver and ice in his hair, and blood and ectoplasm on his face. “Hi, Jazz,” he said, smiling sheepishly despite the dark gleam in his eyes. “Well… it isn’t the apocalypse, so…” He spread his hands to either side, and the GIW building behind him fell over. “Welcome home?”

Mercury Enters Gemini
As Mercury returns to its airy home of Gemini, the collective mind shifts into higher gear. Thoughts scatter, spark, and connect. Curiosity surges. The archetype here is The Messenger: quick-witted, playful, and sharply observant. When the Sun in Gemini forms a trine to Pluto in Aquarius, something deeper stirs beneath this light-footed breeze. Messages carry more weight. Behind casual chats may lie truths waiting to be uncovered. Hidden motivations and quiet obsessions could come to light—not with thunder, but with a knowing glance, a well-timed phrase.
Expect increased mental stimulation. You’ll want to speak, write, read, scroll, connect. Ideas come fast, conversations flow, and information is easily absorbed. Use this period to learn, teach, network or express what’s been waiting for words. Keep a notebook close; the mind may be moving faster than your typing fingers.
Those who write, speak, or work in media may feel especially energised. But with Pluto in the mix, notice what draws you in too deeply. What idea, topic, or rabbit hole refuses to let go?
Be mindful of distraction disguised as productivity. Not everything deserves your attention. Gossip, overthinking, and anxiety loops can easily sneak in.
Be wary of using clever words to manipulate or avoid vulnerability. Speak honestly. If you're tempted to spin a narrative, ask yourself what you're avoiding. Let this be a time to communicate with clarity and courage. You’re being offered not just speed of mind, but depth of insight—use both wisely.

hi! any tips for turning an idea into a plot / story?
hiiii sorry this took me so long!! tumblr doesn't tell me when i get an ask anymore for some reason???? idk idk but!
✨✨✨morgan's guide to turning ideas into a story✨✨✨
these may not work for you BUT if you're having a hard time piecing together something then i would give these a shot!
the first thing i do when i have an idea i write it down. USUALLY my ideas for me come in a sentence. For Tell Me If There's A Way Home, the sentence was "cowgirl that has to keep burying a body that pops up along her journey"
for This Grave Calls You Home it was "in the light of a dying star, the last astronaut wakes up"
BRAINSTORMING:
so anyway i immediately write this down somewhere, usually the notes app on my phone and i STOP WHAT IM DOING IMMEDIATELY
for me, i have hundreds of these sentences written down somewhere, but the ones that stick with me always stay in the back of my throat.
if its one that gets me really hot and bothered, then the seed is planted and it needs some water babes....
im RUNNING to find media that i feel fits with the idea ... on that netflix or spotify or library app STAT looking for anything that will help that seed grow inside my head. i need the VIBES and the MUSIC and ATMOSPHERE.
once that's on lock...i'm plotting with my little grimy hands rubbing together...
...and i buy...another....notebook... and i KNOW this sounds ridiculous but hear me out...writing in notebook vs on a computer has genuinely saved my life with writer's block so many times. ideas and thoughts and fragments just flow when i allow myself to write in a notebook. idk what it is. but this is just me, if computers or typewriters or what have you works then STICK WITH IT
by the time i'm done scribbling ideas in my notebook and acting unhinged, i have a decent idea about the atmosphere and the themes i'm looking to write about
IF AN IDEA CAME TO YOU, IT MEANS SOMETHING IMPORTANT. DON'T DISREGARD THIS
you need to figure out what it is about the idea that means so much to you - and whatever that reason is, that's gonna be the fundamental core of your story.
PLOTTING:
i have to admit something. i dont plot my stories. i dont know how to plot. i like to discover the story right alongside everyone else. what's gonna happen next? idk babes you and me are gonna find out together.
BUT i do try to have a general idea of where the story STARTS and ENDS. everything else is trial and error. and if u dont have any idea where the story ends, just know it'll come to you eventually. u have thousands and thousands of words to write before the end, so don't sweat this; it'll happen. even if its really simple!
using Tell Me If There's A Way Home as an example:
Start: a woman doesn't know who she is, only knows that she's looking for something
End: She's Found The Thing
think of it like a question and answer. (also! NOT answering the question is totally valid story telling too)
if u are really struggling, the number one thing i suggest is READING. you can glean so much information from reading its actually crazy. study your favorite books or movies or video games. almost always in western media there is the exposition, conflict, rising action, climax, falling action, and denouement. (this is super formulaic, so don't feel tied down by this! just a guide line.)
SETTING:
i think everyone gets really tied up in knots about setting. and it shouldn't be like that! this should be YOUR fun!!
setting has very little to do with story/plot itself. it affects the ATMOSPHERE of the story you're telling instead. (except, like, if you're telling an alice in wonderland story or a story about climate change ofc, there's exceptions to everything)
look the locked tomb for example. take out the space aspect, this story at its heart would be the exact same if it were set underwater inside decomissioned underwater research facilities. its just cool as fuck to have a space nun living on pluto.
Take twin peaks and put it in space. the heart of the show works anywhere, but the atmosphere and the mood is enhanced because its in a small, strange town.
you can write a story about generational trauma and put it into the world of jurassic park.
anyway, i hope that you are hearing me say have fun with your setting. it absolutely is a part of the story you're telling, but it is not the heart of it (sometimes)
MISC TIPS:
remember that this is YOUR work. you do whatever you want. it's not up to anyone else.
be obsessed with your own world and your characters!! i literally went to a craft store and made a rosary today for one of my characters and it has actually helped me write a ton today.
you are not stuck in this story. i feel like a pitfall i face often is like "ah man but this writing doesnt make sense in this genre i cant write this" and its like YEAH I CAN. why cANT I . do whatever you want with your story im so serious. you have no idea how many books are releasing now and the common feedback is "man this feels like a book ive read a million times before" and with movies its a remake or based off a book like the entertainment industry DESPERATELY needs new original ideas SO SO BAD. dont be scared to write that book that you're worried is too weird or doesn't make sense trust me.
make playlists! watch movies! play video games! these are all things that count as writing believe it or not.
and remember you are loved !
#i literally hope this is helpful#im so sorry if itsnot#writing tips#writeblr#writing community#this is so long god almighty

Spotlight and Shadows
Mickey slumped into the chair, rubbing his gloved hands together as he let out a deep sigh. Across from him, Mely, Oswald’s daughter, sat with her tiny feet barely touching the floor, a notebook propped on her lap. She twirled a pencil between her fingers, not even looking up.
“So, what’s eatin’ ya, Uncle Mick?” she asked, flipping a page.
Mickey swallowed, hesitating. It felt ridiculous, he, a grown mouse pushing thirty, pouring his heart out to a kid. But somehow, it was easier this way.
“I… I can’t stand it anymore,” he finally blurted. “Oswald and Felix.” His fingers clenched into fists. “I love ‘em, I really do. But they’re so—so in love. Always in their own little world. An’ I—” His voice cracked, and he quickly wiped at his eyes before the tears could fall. “I feel left out.”
Mely hummed in acknowledgment but kept doodling in her notebook.
“I know it’s selfish,” Mickey admitted, shaking his head. “But I can’t help it! I feel invisible. I’ve always had the spotlight on me, y’know? Ever since I was a kid. But now—” He inhaled sharply. “Donald has Daisy, Goofy has Max, even Pluto got himself a partner! And me? I can’t even ask Minnie out!” He let out a bitter laugh. “It’s pathetic. I’m almost thirty, sittin’ here, complainin’ to a kid.”
Mely tapped her pencil against her chin, finally looking up. “Yeah. That is kinda pathetic.”
Mickey winced. “Wow. Thanks.”
She shrugged. “It’s true. You lost time ‘cause you wanted to. Papa always says the spotlight comes for one person at a time, not forever. You should be usin’ this time to focus on yourself instead of tryin’ to be the hero in everyone’s life.” She tilted her head. “And about Miss Minnie? You don’t really wanna ask her out, do ya?”
"I really do..."
"Then do something about it, 'cause it seen that you want her to be the one asking you out, do somthing BE A MAN."
Mickey opened his mouth, but nothing came out.
Mely smirked. “Thought so.” She flipped her notebook closed. “So stop cryin’ about what you don’t got and start chasin’ what you really want. Oh, and maybe let your friends have the spotlight for once? Kinda selfish to hog it forever.”
Mickey blinked, then chuckled softly. “Y’know, kid? You’re gonna be a great therapist one day.”
Mely grinned, flipping open her notebook and showing him the pages, filled with nothing but doodles. “Oh, I don’t do this to help. I just like gettin’ good gossip for Papa and my friends. And thanks to you, I got a whole new chapter about your pathetic love life.”
Mickey deadpanned. “…You’re a menace.”
Mely giggled, kicking her legs. “Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. Who knows?” She waved him off. “That’ll be five bucks. Now scram, I got a long line.”
Mickey turned around, only to see a crowd of kids waiting for their turn, coins clutched in their hands. He sighed.
Maybe he really did need to rethink his life choices.

bweirdOCtober Day 9 - Relationships
Post-College Medeia - Thread
“You are lost.”
“Mayhaps. But the journey is what matters most, no?”
“It is. Though less so when your destination has a strict time window.”
Once upon a time, there was a witch. Although, that wasn’t the profession she’d use to describe herself. Her long black hair, color that combined with her conversation partner’s attire, was slightly messed up by the wind passing by.
Hearing his answer, she frowned and returned to alternating between staring at her map and her cellphone that held the bare minimum of data, in hopes they made any sense whatsoever. In fact, all her travels carried a time limit, which, thematically, was very appropriate.
“I don’t suppose you could give me some hint regarding where I should go? It is your cult, after all.” She argued.
“I could. But this is your lead and your hunt, Medeia. And in my defense, it was more of a cult to dethrone me than to assist me.” The man accompanying her answered, floating a short answer behind her while wearing a tailor-made suit adorned by punctual, but valuable, rings, watch and jewels. “Of course, you have other tools that you can use at any moment.”
The suggestion was received and immediately thrown away. At the same moment, the spark of realization came to her face, showing she found the desired thread. “No problems, I located myself. Onwards!”
“Right behind you.”
Once upon a time, there was a girl, the kind you'd find anywhere. And her travel companion, Death.
A little village in the middle of nowhere.
Medeia had stopped by many of them on her odyssey,
“Your people really like this kind of place, don’t they?” She asked, while typing away in her notebook, the soundtrack of a tween musical playing softly as she worked.
“They are death cults. You do not think most of them would try to hide away in the midst of the biggest metropolis, do you?” He answered, filing his nails.
“Wouldn’t be impossible. Both of us have already lived in one of the biggest cities of the country. We know very well it’s super easy to hide stuff there.” She ceased typing for a second, pondering over some possibilities. “There likely are a bunch of rich guys plotting stuff right under our noses on some capital. I should go to one after exhausting my current clues.“
“Who knows. I but request you to remember, all business I realized in the world of the living was completely legal and according to the law. Including precious jewels that, officially, I found by pure luck. You cannot blame my own golden touch.“
“Don’t worry, Pluto, I know. You’re my favorite capitalist.“ She said, using the name few mortals were aware belonged to him. Closing her notebook and getting up from the chair, she declared. “Alright, let’s see what we’ll find here.“
-----
“You know, you probably would find the right path more easily if you used magic.“ He suggested, making use of his incorporeality to randomly go through the ruins’ walls.
Writing down all she saw on a notepad, she replied. “I remain only a potion maker and journalist. I clearly have no sanity and am addicted to adrenaline, but I won’t use free magic to make this worse.”
She kept patting around the walls and furniture of the place, eventually making an unnoticed mirror fall to the floor and shatter in a thousand pieces. Welp, just another relic of incalculable historical value.
One of the shards made a small cut on her leg, though, creating a thin thread of blood that would go all the way to her heel. Annoying, but no big problem. Still, she made a mental note to exchange her shoes for bigger boots.
“You know, I don’t think this partnership of ours is very equal.” She said, repeating an argument they made every other week, almost a little inside joke.
“Because it isn’t. I can destroy these magical artifacts and cults at any moment. But I grant you the opportunity to do so yourself, to further your own goals.”
“And for that not quite bare minimum, I’m eternally ungrateful.” After that jest, she finally found a place that looked slightly weird. Taking a small vial from her pockets, she spilled its liquid on the floor, making a stairway show itself. Great. At last, progress.
-----
A salvo of shotguns ringed through the air above the strategically located waist high half-wall Medea was protecting herself with.
“You REALLY can’t help me right now?” She shouted, her cover vibrating from the impact of the guns.
“In your age’s terms, nope. Work your magic, alchemist.” He replied, noticeable only to her.
She needed no magic. All that mattered was resources, ingenuity…
And many wiles!
At a spot, the noise surrounding her faded ever so slightly. Realizing her assailants were reloading, she quickly grabbed a potion bottle and threw it towards them as strongly as possible. With the cracking sound of impact and their surprised noises, she knew she hit her target.
Alright. Let's face the music!
-----
"Food poisoning. All considered, you suffer from that very rarely, for someone who is always traveling." Death pointed out.
"Hahaha. Very… urgh." Medeia remained on her knees, holding back nausea while facing the lunch she just finished throwing on the side of the road. "Very funny, Plu-"
The girl couldn't finish the sentence, instead returning to throwing out her own stomach. Truly, a lesson to never trust divine-looking beef.
Throughout the entire experience, her travel companion used one of his hands to hold her long black hair, keeping it from dirtying itself, while the other hand calmly pet her head or back, soft, calm words comforting her all the while.
It was a parental care she long didn't feel.
-----
In an almost desert, with no visible reference points, Medeia evaluated her maps and information. She could keep riding down the road with her bike, no problems, but having some idea of how long it would be before she got anywhere would be handy.
She somewhat asked herself how it would be like to be made of the same material as clouds or have the same wings birds use to fly. And in doing so, she noticed she was really, really bored.
"Why do you follow me?" She asked.
"We have known each other for a very long time. Old friends, practically." He answered.
"You can say that to a lot of people, not just me. Even within the occult means, I'm sure I'm not the only one."
"You are not. But you're also dedicated to solving terrible incidents being built with me in mind, be it in homage or against me."
"I am. But you're Death. You don't need my help to fix these."
"No, I do not. However, your motives are unique enough for me to consider them worthy of my support." He explained, putting an end to their little back-and-forth with a more in-depth explanation. "Mages are creatures of extremes. Many, as you know within your own blood, aim to deny me, destroying the natural order of our world. Others still seek to wreak great destruction, thus ignoring the equilibrium of life. You, not being a mage, are a very sensible person, Medeia. And your reasons for seeking passageways to my kingdom are approved."
And so, he vanished, leaving her with her own thoughts for a while. But she knew he was close by, as always. He was many things, but not a hunter unbeknownst to his prey.
Looking at her map again, she noticed she should go east. As she prepared to put it all back inside her bag, she found a piece of obsidian, which would easily finance her next hotel.
"Thank you, Pluto." Closing her baggage, she kept on going.
-----
Entering the new set of ruins, defeating the local cult with a sleep potion, a wool scarf and a high jump kick from really sturdy boots and finding the relevant magical artifact was, all considered, rather easy, with the maze she traversed to get there having unraveled in front of her experienced gaze.
Incense and liquids she brought now adorned an altar surrounding a curious mirror that, soonly, would cease having a connection to a world beyond.
"Alright, I think I neutralized the portal enough. How long can I make use of it?" She asked.
"Roughly ten minutes. Unfortunately, I cannot allow it to remain open any longer than that." Death informed her.
"Less than I got last time. Welp, it's enough. The cops are getting in eighteen or so to pick them up anyway." She reasoned. Picking up a brush and a hand mirror from her pockets, she looked at her own appearance for a bit, before deciding she was satisfied. "Let's do this."
The potion maker put down a feather and a golden coin in front of her, then lightly cut her own hand, letting blood fall on the proper place. Then, holding on to the mirror, she let her magic activate its restrained power.
Her reflection quickly vanished as the portal activated. In its place, were plains in eternal spring and, within them, a girl with the purest tranquility in her face.
It couldn't be traversed. It was but a camera, microphone and audio system, traversing the greatest of distances between two people.
Noticing the portal, the girl turned around and greeted the person standing on the other side with the greatest possible smile on her face.
From the deathly catacombs where she found herself at, Medeia theatrically bowed and proclaimed. "Fair maiden! Many dangers and journeys I faced to see thy lovely face once again!" With the overkill court provoking the desired laughter, she stood up straight and affirmed. "You're as beautiful as ever, Ariadne."
Carrying that special smile, from within her peaceful eternal rest, she answered. "And you're as courageous and smart as the last time we saw one another, my Medeia."
At the end of day, there is only one that truly makes life worth living.
And so, each and every day, she would search for her love's thread.
