Programming? On my Tumblr?

It's more likely than you think >:3

So anyways here's an early tech demo for a lil project I've been working on. I'm making a game in pure C without any external libraries or game engines or whatever, writing everything from the ground up. Why? To see if I could. And also because I hate myself.

This bad boy's got low-latency audio output with a custom audio mixer and WAV file loading, input handling (keyboard + mouse, no controller support yet), and a basic graphics renderer (with BMP file support), as well as some other fun little features. It's built on the Windows API but all the platform code is isolated so that the game can easily ported. And what grand creation shall I make with this? ...Tetris. I'm planning to make a Tetris clone. Lol.

Oh, and the tetris remix you hear in the background? Wrote that myself. Music was never my strongest subject but I am determined to make everything by myself.

A friend of mine is training for a marathon and it’s super inspiring and impressive and one day she was telling me about it and I sort of sighed and went “man. I wish I was the kind of person who wanted to do that” and she was like “OH do you want some tips? We could go on a jog together some time. You know if you just get in the swing of it, start running a few miles a day-“ and I had to be like Nonono. I do not want to. I WISH I wanted to. Currently though I would actually prefer to die. And it's only... 51 days late. It's fine it's fine #Thanks to everybody in the dfpu chat who helped me come up with stuff to doodle for the border. It was a big help and a lot of fun!#we really did recreate what is going on in the drawing!#also thanks to snails muffin and terror for the animation pointers & terminology #Smear frames were def the way to go! Not whatever I was trying to do before asking for help #I guess this counts as my first *real* animation so hooray!#I *might* use some of the remaining prompts for future drawings but at this point I have other things I want to work on #even though I was only able to finish a few of these I felt like I still learned a lot #it definitely got me into the habit of drawing every day #and I'm still doing that so this event was a big win in my book!#and no joke I really did color pick from the load cursor just so I could do the silly spinning thing
