I love this BL either way but what a terrible case of second lead syndrome it gives. Already complicated to make the main relationship work, I don't think any of them are mature enough for poly, but I still stand by this choice.

This is a cheat because I want it to be both a BL (it wasn't, sadly) AND poly. But there it is. A solid choice. Probably the best of the bunch.

It's no accident that the only still I have from this show is of the original relationship not the later MaxNat pairing. I just think they had great chemistry and they should have had their HEA in both time lines.

Oh yeah all of you gonna be mad. But I was never was big on the 2nd lead pair in this show. Would have preferred poly for the mains instead. Would have changed the ENTIRE tenor of the dialogue around this show and its tropes, but I would have enjoyed that too.

It occurs to me that the books I want to read feature elements and characters that are DNF-able for others so I thought it’d be fun to list the various concepts I’ve written about that I legit didn’t think about being objectionable.

I think coming from fanfic where the solution to many canon problems are exactly the scenarios I’ve written has muddied my perception of all this. Not meant to be mean-spirited, for some of these I very much went “ohhhhh, I forgot that people don’t like this”.

Neurodivergent characters

Markus, in ENNS, is on the autism spectrum. I had a neurotypical beta reader way back when absolutely despise him and make no effort to understand him, calling him unsympathetic and confusing.

Which must mean I wrote him perfectly.

He gets to have a variety of scenes, from those focusing on the frustrations of being autistic among neurotypicals, the limitations autistics face in certain situations, the strengths of not being neurotypical in certain situations, and just little moments here and there that put Markus apart from others as autism isn’t a thing you switch off, nor is it always visibly obvious, but if you know, you know.

A lot of my work predates my understanding of my own neurodivergence, otherwise I’d like there to be more.

Asexual characters

It’s tough, when you write books with romance as the secondary genre, that you’re going to have disappointed readers no matter what who expected differently because allosexuality(?) is the norm and especially recently, smut carries otherwise awful storylines so not having it is a massive letdown, no matter how clearly you state that it’s not that kind of romance.

I’d love to market ENNS more forwardly as a romance novel, but if I do, I risk people getting salty that asexuality is ruining their ability to vicariously enjoy the smut that isn’t happening.

I… I was not aware in 2025 that not reading a romance on the grounds of it being queer, while calling oneself an ally, was still a thing. Whoops. Given that “make the love triangle poly” is a thing that abounds in fanfic, I was also surprised when I had beta readers hating Dorian like he was “cheating” when it’s stated pretty explicitly, within the linguistic bounds of this fantasy setting, that he’s poly and has an open relationship with his main partner.

Depressed characters/PTSD

My boy Bel ain’t your angst fodder PTSD, he’s written intentionally to be frustrating, uncooperative, illogical at times, and self-sabotaging and a little ridiculous with his worldviews and assumptions about other people. I had a beta reader who said I wrote him too well, that she had no sympathy for his bullshit and didn’t like whenever I wrote in his POV when plot happened and he got very difficult.

Character development gotta start somewhere.

I also tend to have characters with non-“tropey” phobias, like when they’re only the butt of the joke or never explored by the narrative and taken seriously.

Bel has claustrophobia and thalassophobia. Elias has acrophobia and thalassophobia. Dorian has (eventually) pyrophobia. Gregori has germophobia.

I’ve done my best to write some serious takes on panic attacks at different degrees, intrusive thoughts, and just general behavior that comes with living with these fears and the efforts to avoid triggering them in various situations.

Consent, and no actually meaning no

I got to write a scene in ENNS where A propositioned B for sex, B said they weren’t in the mood, and A listened and immediately offered a different idea that B was quite happy to indulge in (it was snuggles).

I’ve also been able to write the antithesis to what I hate most in the usual romance novels I see: Character D ignores partner C’s ‘no’ and is very clearly in the wrong and punished by the narrative for it.

Sorry if that’s underwhelming I guess…?

I know I write about vampires but geez. Edward has already been written. There doesn’t need to be more of him.

First Shout Out to the Only Confirmed Poly So Far (Both F/M/M): 3 Will Be Free and Me, My Husband and My Husband's Boyfriend (the last one I have not watch so be cautious I do not know the ending)

There is two BLs that hint at a poly solution (M/M/M): My Mate Match & Tinted With You.

NOW ONTO THE MISSED OPPURTUNITIES:

CHOCO MILK SHAKE: The title is in all caps because I am still so bitter about it, the second couple came out of nowhere for me and I am bitter as hell!!!!

Light On Me: The only good love triangle I ever saw and one of the only ones that actually made me believe that a poly ending could work in canon.

Happy Ending Romance: I am not as emotional about this one, but I do remember watching and thinking why can't he just date both?

Oh My Assistent: Same as above

Gen Y: Mark-Kit-Wayo: LAST BUT NOT LEAST! I am so mad about this, it was right there. All the peaces laid out, Wayo deserved it. And so did I Damn It!! I have been wanting to see the actors that play Wayo and Mark play a ship together since I watched the first 2 Moons and thought that they had super great chemistry.

Regarding the La Pluie one, the one in the linked post, I did thought about it, but I think it's not the right drama for it.

Not just because I want Tien to be happy. Even though I really do!! But also because I feel like this would go against what the show is trying to say with the soulmate plot.

If there was another character that had scene with Tien and that could filled the role of a secondary love interest then maybe it could work but as it, I don't really want it, even though I do see it, don't get me wrong.

Anyway suggestiongs of more dramas are welcomed. I for one have a few that are less missed oppurtunities and more like "There's An Idea" poly ships. If you guys want to read that list is:

Not Me: Gram-Black-Todd (I love this one - but Black is also really shippable, I am following a Black-Yok fic with great pleasure)

Until We Meet Again: Read two fics about the two couples dating each other or having a "one night stand" of sorts and thought the idea was neat.

Bad Buddy: I never went there but I know there are fics with a poly relationship between Pat/Pran and either Wai or Korn (or both). Not too mention the fics the Our Skyy 2 crossover most certantly brought about.

History 4 Clost To You: When I first watched it I had a moment during the first scene where I imagined the plot of the drama to be Ten and Li Cheng competing for Xing Si affection with a poly ending and I fell in love with the idea.

do you think yuki and kaname shoud just opt for an open relationship where both of them can date other people while still being with each other? That way everyone would be happy and no one will feel like they aren't enough. Do you think this will be a great solution to the love triangle?

Not actually. In my opinion this would never be a great solution to the love triangle presented in this manga. I don't think kaname is the type of person who would do things like this , like being in a relationship with others while he is in a relationship with yuki . He would choose one path , not stand on two boats . Besides I don't believe he would be able to love anyone other than yuki , maybe one day he might but definitely not while he is in a relationship with yuki. He is not that merciful and forgiving to himself. He constantly punishes himself. And yuki is just normal , too normal I guess . I highly doubt her mentality would let her be in a relationship with multiple people at the same time , one of the reasons, she believes she doesn't deserve kaname . Besides if they were like this , like it would be so easier for them to fall in love with others then I guess it wouldn't be them. Besides to see all these parts of kaname , he needs to be alive, Hino needs to show parts of himself, his thought processing . I feel like it would be ok if they end up in poly relationship with Kaname , yuki and zero , but I guess it's only limited to these three , not any fourth person, but maybe we can include hooded woman as well but she is also long gone in the series . They are just what if scenarios which are just what ifs. But in my opinion,more like my wish is for them to be happy together without interference from third party like when they were young...but that is also just a wish ...

so i’m reading this book and i can’t talk to my friends about it because i’ll spoil it for them so i hope you’re okay with it?

it’s the last book in a trilogy, there has been a love triangle throughout the books. i’m pretty close to the end and it looks like the solution is going to be a throuple?

idk it feels very out of nowhere. it’s a girl and two guys and neither of the guys ever had their sexuality explicitly stated but it feels off that suddenly they’re both bi. (and i’m bi myself.)

basically there are parallel worlds and they’ve all been together but separately (girl x guy 1, girl x guy 2, guy 1 x guy 2) and it’s not bad exactly. but it feels like a cop out. it’s been heavily emphasized that she loves them both and doesn’t know how she could ever choose so it seems fairly obvious where this is going.

i will say i don’t read poly books because that’s just not something that interests me, i am very selfish with my partner and would never share them with another person in this way. so it’s not my cup of tea to begin with and i feel blindsided.

on the other hand i’m sure this is probably relatable for someone out there, i mean minus the parallel worlds lol. and i do think people being able to see themselves in books is important. but i also feel disappointed personally.

no i totally get your disappointment bc that ending is kinda… anticlimactic? like if a poly relationship was always an option why did they build tension and have you guess which would end up with which if the answer was just all 3? like there was no reason for any conflict then if that was always an option where everyone would be happy

Y’know, I am very much a solve a love triangle with polyamory person, but I think the only exception to this rule I have is Leo, Jason and Nico.

Like, I’m a big fan of Jasico, Valdangelo and Valgrace but together in one big relationship doesn’t do it for me.

I think the best way I can explain it is in the way that each one of these relationship really delves into these characters personalities in very different ways. Jasico is what you get when you have someone who will never give up on you no matter how much you push them away because you both know that you are worthy of love and they won’t stop until they’ve heard you admit it. Valdangelo is big on parallels and two different, yet disturbingly similar individuals coming together to find someone they can really understand. And Valgrace has the whole prophecy of seven backing them up. Two people who were doomed from the start. They can’t both make it, but do everything in their power to make sure their story doesn’t end in tragedy, even though it is inevitable.

Throwing them all together in one big relationship however, though it definitely can work in the hands of a competent writer, feels more like an easy solution, or just someone who thought I'd be cute rather than something to be narratively dissected.

Though of course, if you can find the same meaning in the poly ship as you do with them individually, please let me know because I’m genuinely really interested if that’s the case.

The WOF Love Interest slander has made me think about it. What would be my ideal love interests for each Wings of Fire protagonist?

Clay - Keep him without a solid one, he can have minor flings but honestly I like how the books kept him single and made it pretty clear Peril’s crush was one-sided. I don’t personally headcanon him as aromantic or anything I just think him not having a love interest is more useful and interesting to the character dynamics and the story than having one would be.

Tsunami - As I have previously stated, pathetic malewife ( gender-neutral as usual for the bisexual queen ) or equally as tough dragon who has a soft spot for Tsunami and she has one for them. I like how Riptide is the first person Tsunami meets but not in the way the books portray it, it shouldn’t just be “first male of the same tribe as her now they are dating” I feel “this was the first person I felt I could relate to on all the things I never knew why I did and you taught me so much but never used me for being a princess or forced me to be a certain way thank you”

Glory - Okay girlboss and her hitman bodyguard is cute, kinda reminds me of Yor and Loid Forger in a way but also the age gap has to go Tui how’d you fuck up the timeline that bad 😭😭 I don’t actually like how Deathbringer is written either I kinda would want more of a serious to outsiders but playful slowburn when alone with eachother. I feel like Glory wouldn’t actually get with anyone until she’s an adult because she would be so focused on her career BUT GOD GET A MAN OR A WOMAN OR WHATEVER IDC WHO IS YOUR AGE PLEASE DONT MESS UP THE TIMELINE AND IMPLY STRANGE AGE GAPS IT RUINS SHIPS

Starflight - Tbh… I love him and Fatespeaker nerdy quiet boyfriend and his bundle of energy nerdy girlfriend, just crank it up to 11 I want more I don’t care if she’s annoying it’s fun I just wish they did more with it it was so cute :(

Sunny - The aromantic queen.

Moonwatcher - Everytime I heard her worrying about “oh gosh oh me should I choose the nice funny guy who is nothing but kind to me or the nasty racist man who keeps telling me who hates me because I’m a nightwing” makes me want to rip my hair out. If you can’t tell love triangles are often poorly written and both choices are not equal. Solution: Give Qibli more apparent flaws and maybe don’t make Winter dragon racist it makes the bad boy character a lot less of a bad boy and more of “why are you giving this man the time of day Moon he hates you” energy. That was a rant and a half but basically balance it out more and in the end I don’t want her to decide. She can have some romance drama on the side but I feel like she could never choose, or she could go poly or open relationship but who knows. If I could throw Qibli and Winter in the love interest trash bin I would give Moon a quiet gf with an interesting backstory or something like that, someone who doesn’t have a bombardment of thoughts and is calm and peaceful and Moon can just chill with her. Or honestly if Arc 2 wanted to focus on plot more, discard love interest for Moon until Arc 3.

Winter and Qibli - Stated before. Honestly would prefer if Winter didn’t have a love interest at all and worked through his own issues with his friends where as I’m a little more open to Moon and Qibli personally I’m not the biggest fan. I think Qibli is another character like Clay that I can’t see any story reasons to actually give a love interest until after Arc 2.

Peril - Realize she doesn’t need Clay to love her to be worth anything and slowly come to realize to learn to love herself, maybe she gets to be with someone as an adult but after lots of healing and being able to separate her worth as a person from a partner’s love. <3

Turtle - I like how he has a crush on Kinkajou and how Anemone kind of ruins it but I don’t want it to go anywhere and I want he and Kinkajou to have more discussions about it and for them eventually decide not to get together. Or something like that I can’t really see Turtle with anyone but I liked that storyline.

Blue and Cricket: I actually really enjoy this ship and I want them to be happy, make it less sudden though Tui I stg they went way too fast but I do enjoy pathetic little boy x nerdy girl it is a very cute dynamic and made arc 3 tolerable in the first half for me.

Sundew: No complaints. Willow is amazing, I just wish she had more of a role in the story.

Snowfall: I think she and Lynx are cute but they do also work as friends, I don’t think she needs a love interest. Single girlboss.

Luna: I like Luna and Swordtail a lot actually Arc 3 had pretty good romance for Wings of Fire standards, I just wish it was fleshed out more before Luna’s POV book. Her thoughts and memories of Swordtail also made her book tolerable I’m ngl the plot was lacking but Luna and her awesome thoughts and mind and memories was super cool!!

I could also include the humans, the winglet characters and Darkstalker but I don’t want too!! Fuck the humans I hate them!!! Also I acknowledge I didn’t include any MLM ships in here at all but that’s kind of just because most male characters have pretty solid ships already which are primarily straight, which is sad that there isn’t a lot of LGBT rep in Wings of Fire besides Sundew x Willow and side characters Pineapple x Jambou(? He is so irrelevant I forgot his name help 😭 ) and arguably Sky/Peril. Maybe after Winter works through his angst he can get an emo boyfriend that would be my heart and soul.

coffee shop au or flower shop au - I'm not a fan of both, of most non-canon related AU tropes actually, but if I had to I would read/write coffe shop over flower shop.

hurt/comfort or there was only one bed - you can't do that to me and make me choose. Love both of the tropes, but h/c features in almost all my fics whereas beds - one or more - is harder to fit in all the time. So h/c

found family or partners in crime - I'm not interested in family dynmics, found or orther wise - therefore partners (assassins) in crime.

canon compliant or canon divergent - as I rarely ship the canon ship it's canon divergent, and often also post canon on top

domesticity or pwp - pwp as long as there are feelings involved

fluff or angst with a happy ending - I'm not a huge fluff fan, and definitely if that's the whole purpose of the fic whereas I LOVE angst. Give me all the angst. With the happy ending (and it's okay if there's a little fluff then)

1st person pov or 3rd person pov - Definitely 3rd person, I have never read a first person fic, and also prefer my books to be in 3rd

soulmates or forbidden love - I'm a big fan of chosing your partner and not having some kind of entitiy choose for you, free will rules (though there are some great stories out there!). but all the tension from forbidden love and potential heartbreak is just too good to pass

roommates or fake dating - in most fandoms not a huge fan of both, but if fake dating done well can be great - as long as it turns into real dating at some point

slow burn or meet-cute - give me 100 k slow burn with enemies to lovers and I'm happy. who wants to meet cute when you can meet by punching the other in the face and get horny about it?

love triangle or polyamorous relationship - love triangles are soooooo boring. Love poly ships.

royalty au or magic au - definitely magic, if applied in a broader sense like vampires etc. a nice warlock can also solve a lot of smut supply problems, let me tell you.

high school/college au or neighbours au - Neither, it's just like the coffee shop AU. Don't really see the appeal but if I have to choose neighbours - that can at least keep the canon narrative in some parts

mutual pining or idiots to lovers - I don't like idiot characters so mutual pining - and the potential angst is great

hi babe! Yes i did--and I wouldn't have if it wasn't for you posting it, so thank you for that! The book series it was based on looked terrible, tbh, so i was surprised by how good the show looked in the gifs you were posting. I really enjoyed it!

I think the best parts of the show were a) the cast. The main three have great chemistry and the lead is charismatic enough to pull off being a tragic chosen one without being a drag, which is hard to find in ya! I also think it was a good decision to cast a black lead. I know opinions and execution varies on this, but I tend to prefer a racial allegory in fiction to be backed up by actually casting a non-white actor in the role. Even though this casting isn't strict throughout the show (its not like all blood witches are black and all fairborns are white), having him be the biracial child of a black father felt like a deliberate choice on the part of the showmakers, not something incidental or shoehorned in.

Love a fantasy road trip. Not much else to say there, just a personal fave of mine <3

The other big thing I really liked about it was the unique style the show had! It felt distinct from other fantasy ya shows, from the costuming to the set design to the mundane, muddy, tramping through the woods scenes. And some of the magic was genuinely very creepy and unique--the scene with mercury possessing his grandmother in particular scared the crap out of me!

And lastly, I loved the decisions made with the relationships. I liked that each of the three central characters has their own arcs and their own relationships with each other--it made the group convincing and balanced. While I wouldn't really have minded a bisexual love triangle (as long as the girl doesn't get sidelined), I really enjoyed where they ended up as something pretty explicitly poly! I was surprised to see that play out so purposefully on screen--i guess id assumed it was mostly fan interpretation, but no, it really seems like what the showrunners were going for!

Now for the negatives lol. (And tbh im inclined to blame most of these on the book series.) Firstly, I think that the magic system is unclear. The idea that each person has a power, fine. But then some of those powers (like gabriels) seem to be just, can do witchcraft and potions? Okay. Also there's no clear distinction between what blood witches and fairborn witches can do. Which is fine if that's the point they're making thematically, but it really seems like there were supposed to be differences in abilities in these two different groups that are just... never shown clearly on screen?

My other criticism would be that I think they've written themselves into a conflict they can't write a satisfying solution to. Which is the problem with discrimination-based fictional conflict--there isn't an easy solution in real life, so it's hard to find one that's satisfying in fiction, unless you have plenty of time and very skilled writers. (Which, lets be real, most ya netflix shows do not have.)

Where would I want them to go from here? I'm rarely of this opinion, but honestly I think they'd be well within their rights to say fuck it, and hop a boat to america or something, leave this all behind. I think the most likely outcome is that they try to use their combined power to force a truce on the adults, initially fail because they're young and easily manipulated, but eventually gain something more equal and lasting. But what I would really enjoy seeing is them all, like, going to the beach. Waiting tables. Getting terrible hobbies. Continuing the fantasy roadtrip but, like, not dying this time. You know?

 I know I’m talking about it a lot, but it is still super weird for me to exist in a space online where I talk about Wheel of Time. The books were such a personal experience for me growing up. Like, I occasionally read fan theories online when the series was being written but never really engaged back then, for a variety of reasons, so it was really just me and the story.

And it’s just also interesting for me to think about how WoT influenced my fictional preferences in so many ways that I didn’t even realize back then -- that the Warder bond and Rand’s situation in this series are definitely part of what made me vibe so hard with Sense8, and the series really encouraged me to find and enjoy poly solutions to love triangle problems. The idea that love can exist between more than two people and that sets of romantic love can be different but still important was something I 100% absorbed from WoT and brought with me into all the fiction I read or watched after that point.

It was also, for me, very much a gold standard of writing deeply from a character’s perspective and it fostered my love of that style of writing -- everyone is very fixed in their knowledge and their own biases, and we can see how that influences their behavior and their opinion of their behavior. A lot of things that I still love when reading fiction can definitely be traced back to how deeply immersive and compelling I found WoT.

And I just really love how Rafe has taken the core of the story and translated to a new medium. I’ve been really happy so far -- I might even be at the point where this is currently my favorite book-to-screen adaptation ever, though I’ll give it to the end of the season before saying for sure. Pretty damn good so far, though.

Hazel/Leo/Frank for the ship ask! I never would have gone for it by myself, but you really sold me on it with your take on them

Okay this is gonna be a bit more tough because it's been years since I read the books and I know that this one was entirely based on the books for me. So I can't point out most of the canon instances that did it for me, but those three had such a closely-woven dynamic with each other?

It was supposed to be a love-triangle, but deadass when do those ever work. Instead it just kept pushing the Hazel/Leo angle, which really worked well and was so sweet and soft, as well as the Frank/Hazel angle, which remains one of the VERY few canon ships from this universe that I dig, meanwhile Frank/Leo had that "love rivalry" going on but there were also real cute moments between them too.

My general solution to love-triangles is always looking at poly first and this was just one of those cases where the canon interactions given made all three sides work for me so I decided to go full poly. ;D

A/N: So this was something completely new to me and I actually really enjoyed writing it. I mean I am a big wolfstar shipper and I love both Sirius and Remus, so this wasa story to my heart.

‘You’re staring again,’ your best friend, Amy, told you over breakfast as your eyes were focused on a group of boys at the Gryffindor table.

‘No, I’m not,’ you said, tearing away your gaze from two heads in particular. You turned your head to your friend and tried to eat your toast like there was nothing going on.

Which was a lie. If anyone had paid attention to you, they would have noticed that lately you had gotten slightly obsessed with staring. And not just staring in general, no, staring at two particular boys. Remus Lupin and Sirius Black.

Now was this not the most crazy thing; many girls and guys in school felt at least something for either of them. There was no denying that both the boys were attractive in their own way. But fate had brought it that you liked both. There was not a single fibre in your body that liked the one more than the other. And the warm feeling that you felt for both of them was eating you up inside.

‘Don’t lie to me, y/n,’ Amy said. ‘Have you figured out for which one you are going?’

‘I just wish there was a way to date both,’ you sighed and you rested your head on your arms.

‘Some people do that, you know?’ said Amy as she reached over the table for the teapot. ‘Dating more people at the same time.’

‘You mean as in cheating?’ you asked, looking up to her.

‘No, sweets,’ your friend said smiling, while she poured herself a cup of tea. ‘As in polyamory.’

‘Polyamory?’ you repeated, with a confused look on your face.

Amy took a sip of her tea and nodded. ‘Yes, friends of my parents are involved in such a thing,’ she said and you sat up straight, as if asking her to continue. ‘They are married to each other, but they are also involved with another married couple. It’s quite interesting.’

‘It is,’ you mumbled as you turned back to your breakfast. It was something to think about. But then, even if you would want it, there would be no way that either Remus or Sirius would agree with you. They didn’t even know you liked them now. You were sure they didn’t like you back, you were just their friend. And they didn’t like each other, though that was a debatable subject.  

‘You should think about it,’ Amy interrupted your thoughts. ‘I have said it before; it is obvious they like you. And I do think they like each other,’ she added as she glanced over at the Gryffindor table where Remus and Sirius were sitting next to each other, a little too close for ‘just friends’.

‘I will think about it,’ you said sincere; Amy had awakened a possibility that you never had known there was. The idea of dating them both not only seemed like the easiest option, but also interested you greatly. As you ate the rests of your breakfast you let your mind wonder to the possibilities.

The common room was close to empty as James sat at the fire, his head buried in the only book he ever read; Quidditch through the ages. He had read it so often that he could basically recite every line of it, but he still read it. It brought a sense of calm and silence over him that was almost never there. Not that he would ever admit it to anyone, but he did enjoy the reading.

It had stopped raining just fifteen minutes ago and the sky was dark as the sun had set. The little drops of water streamed down the window panes, a game of which one would come to the bottom the fastest. The bright stars were hidden by thick dark grey clouds and although it had stopped raining, it felt like it would start any moment again.

Sirius and Peter had detention and were bound to come back any moment now, James figured. Remus was out studying with you at the library, taking advantage of every second before curfew set to read the small letters in those old, dusty books. Remus had offered for James to come along, but just the thought of the dark library gave James chills and he declined. Besides, Remus had never really wanted James to come; he way rather just want to spend time with you alone.

It was obvious to James that Remus had a crush on you. It was obvious to anyone but Remus. And Sirius. Because Sirius was too busy with his crush on you to realise that his friend was in the exact same place. Both the boys were longing after you and neither of them seemed to realise the competition they had put themselves into.

Just as neither of them had realised that they liked each other.

James thought it was impossible to look past the glances that they gave each other when the other wasn’t looking. Or to see the way Sirius always ended up next to Remus at dinner. Remus always helped Sirius with his homework, no matter how often he told him that he wouldn’t. Sirius bought Remus chocolate, Remus read to Sirius. They always wound up next to each other on the couch in the common room, sometimes tangled up, sometimes just staring at each other.

Though the innocence of his friends made James smile, he also knew that it was about time they realised what they felt for each other. And for you.

The portrait hole opened and Sirius and Peter stepped through it. Both looked annoyed, but where Peter went straight upstairs, Sirius sat down next to his best friend and told him about the detention Flitwick had given him. James listened to his friend, pretending to listen, but his mind somewhere else. He had put his book on the table and stared at Sirius and his tired face.

And as Sirius went into the depths of the corners of the Charms classroom that he had to clean, James nodded. His friend got worked up over the cobwebs on the ceiling and the gum under the tables.

‘Terrible mate,’ James said when he realised Sirius was expecting a reaction from him once he was finished.

‘Where’s Moony?’ Sirius asked, apparently satisfied with James’ reaction.

‘Library,’ James answered and turned to his friend. ‘With y/n.’

James watched as Sirius’ expression changed. From lazy and unbothered to alert and a little disappointed. James chuckled and went to grab his book again, waiting for Sirius to start talking. Something he definitely would.

After a few minutes of silence, Sirius opened his mouth and James looked up from the page. ‘Do you- don’t you think Moony and y/n are spending a lot of time together lately?’

‘I don’t know,’ James answered, smirking at his friend’s face, his eyes back on his book as if he hadn’t been looking up at all. ‘I haven’t really been paying attention to that.’

Sirius turned red and stared at the fireplace. ‘Me neither,’ he mumbled. ‘I just thought of it.’

James sighed and lowered his book. He closed it with a bang and turned to Sirius. It was clear that this one wouldn’t bring up the subject himself any time soon.

‘You like her, don’t you Pads?’                                  

Sirius’ eyebrows raised on his forehead but he said nothing to prove James wrong. That, however, was enough of an answer for James and he laughed out loud, making a few students look his way.

‘I thought so,’ James whispered, not wanting everybody to know Sirius’ secret, that was not that big a secret since everyone had already noticed. ‘I think she likes you too, mate. Maybe you should do something about it.’

‘I don’t know, she kind of seems to like Remus,’ Sirius replied unsure.

There James was stuck with an answer, because Sirius was right. Though James was convinced that you liked Sirius, he also thought you liked Remus. And to James it was not clear which one you liked better.

Sirius liked you, you liked Sirius and Remus and Remus liked you too. It was a triangle, one similar to any teenage fictional love-triangle, but just with a twist. Because Sirius liked Remus and Remus liked Sirius.

All together it was confusing James, but he did had the feeling that there must be an solution. What that was he didn’t know, however.

‘But you like y/n?’ James said and Sirius nodded. ‘And you like Remus.’

Sirius’ eyes widened and he turned his head away from the fire to James. On his cheeks was a blush and when James smirked, Sirius averted his eyes and stared at his hands. In any other situation James would have made fun of his friend, suddenly lost for words and blushing, but James knew that this was a delicate issue and not one to be messed with. The teasing would come later.

Before James could say anything to reassure his friend of his confidence, the portrait hole opened again and Remus and you walked in. The light in the common room was brighter than the one in the hallways, because when you stepped in you held your hand for your eyes, giving James enough time to pat Sirius on his leg and nod approvingly.

Remus and you walked over to the couch where Sirius was sitting and you plopped down next to Sirius, groaning as you did so. Sirius shifted nervously in his place and James smiled to himself. It was impossible how you hadn’t noticed he liked you yet. Or maybe you had and you were just too afraid to do something.

‘Madam Pince sent us away,’ you said as you leaned forward to place three big leather books on the coffee table that stood in front of the couch. ‘Apparently laughing is a crime these days.’

‘No laughing isn’t, but you knocked over a stack of books and fell on the ground,’ Remus said to you with a twinkle in his eyes.

‘It wasn’t my fault!’ you cried out. ‘You were the one that made me laugh in the first place! She only should have thrown you out!’

James saw the way Sirius’ shoulders slumped when you turned to Remus with a big smile on your face. Remus, however, seemed to gain confidence as you talked to him, his smile getting bigger with the minute. James’ mind was fighting a battle. He knew Remus liked you and that it did him good to talk to you, but the more happy Remus was, the more sad was Sirius. And James hated to see his friend lose his confidence.

‘Remus can I talk to you?’ James said, silencing the discussion inside his head.

Remus nodded and followed James to the stairs, where Sirius and you couldn’t hear them. As James stood in front of Remus, he looked over his friend’s shoulder and saw Sirius talking to you.

‘Have you told her yet?’ James asked, like he and Remus had been having this conversation for the past weeks.

‘Told who what?’

‘y/n, that you like her?’

Remus stayed silent and stared at James’ with his jaw dropped lightly. He recollected himself quickly and shook his head. ‘No, I haven’t and I don’t see a reason why. It is obvious she likes Sirius,’ Remus answered, avoiding James’ gaze.

‘She likes you both, you idiot!’ James whisper-yelled.

Remus shook his head at his friend. ‘No, she doesn’t. Look at how she is talking to Padfoot, she is not like that with me.’

‘She is! Listen to me, Rem. She likes you and she likes Sirius. And it doesn’t seem like she likes one better than the other. So just tell her! Unless you’re more interested in Sirius of course,’ James added with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

‘What?’ Remus scoffed and his brows furrowed at James. ‘Sirius is just my friend! Why would you think that?’

‘Give it a break, mate. The way you sit next to each other and how you look at him and he looks at you.’

‘I don’t know what you are talking about, James, but I would stop it before I get angry with you.’ Remus took a step back from James and shook his head annoyed. ‘I’m going to bed,’ he said and walked past James up the stairs.

‘What about y/n?’ James asked to Remus’ back.

‘There is nothing with her, is there?’ Remus sneered without looking back at James, before he disappeared.

James walked back to you and Sirius, who were engaged in a lively conversation. James sat down in the armchair again and took his book.

‘What’s wrong with Remus?’ you asked as you looked at the now empty stairwell.

‘What happened, Prongs?’ Sirius asked, his tone sharper than yours.

James looked up from his book and shrugged. ‘He didn’t feel so good; he went to bed.’

You and Sirius looked at each other and both of you knew it was a lie, but neither of you knew the real reason.

As soon as McGongall was done talking, James turned to Sirius beside him. He glanced over at the other side of the classroom, where Remus and Peter were sitting. James had been afraid Remus would stay mad at him, but the morning after their conversation Remus acted like nothing had happened.

Neither Sirius nor Remus had had the courage to go up to you and confess their crush yet, but James now saw an opportunity to change that. Yesterday he had spoken to your friend Amy after their quidditch practice. After she had told James about your crushes, they stayed up till it was dark to come up with a plan.

A plan that James now had to execute.

‘Padfoot,’ James whispered, catching his friend's attention. ‘I spoke with Amy-’

‘y/n's friend?’

‘Yes, she told me that y/n does have a crush on you,’ James continued.

Sirius turned red and he stared with his mouth open at James, like it was the first time someone told him that.

‘Anyway,’ James said, keeping an eye out for McGonagall who was walking around the classroom. ‘Amy and I thought it would be a good idea if you went on a date Saturday.’

Sirius still stared at his friend but then closed his mouth and nodded. ‘Yeah, yeah sure.’

Surprised at how easy it went, James turned back at his work the same time McGonagall walked over to the desks. James started to write zealously but Sirius just stared at his parchment that only had his name written on it. The professor perched an eyebrow and cleared her throat.

‘Everything fine, mister Black?’ she asked, pulling Sirius out of his thoughts.

‘Yes, everything's fine,’ Sirius answered with a dreamy voice as the took his quill back in his hand and started to write.

Maybe it was the blush on Sirius' face or maybe she just didn't want to waste her energy, but she left James and Sirius alone and went on to the students in front of them. James looked at Sirius from the corner of his eye and smiled. Part one of the plan was done.

Part two was a bit more difficult. James had not talked to Remus about you ever since Remus snapped at him and James feared that this time maybe Remus wouldn't keep his temper and he actually would get mad at James. But he had promised Amy he'd do it and James didn't like to break his promises.

The common room was full and James and Remus had retreated back to their dorm, while Sirius was yet at another detention and Peter was downstairs playing chess with a fifth-year. Remus had his face buried in a book and James was playing with a ball he had made of his sock. He was quite nervous, honestly. Talking to Sirius had been easier, because Sirius couldn't keep a secret from James. But Remus was more closed and didn't share every single thing in his life. That was not a bad thing at all, but in moments like these James sometimes wished it was easier to crack Remus' thoughts.

‘Moony?’ James asked, making Remus look up from his page. ‘Would you like to go on a date tomorrow with y/n?’

‘Why do you ask?’ Remus shot back, raising his eyebrow.

James sat up and looked at his friend. ‘Because I spoke to Amy, y/n's friend, and she told me y/n would like it.’

Something in James' expression apparently made Remus believe that he was serious because, much to James' surprise, he nodded. James smiled and lied back down on his bed throwing the sock-ball above his head.

Remus turned back at his book, but now with a small smile on his face. James smirked to himself and thought of what a surprise it would be if Remus and Sirius saw each other tomorrow.

Anxiously you sat at an empty table in the Three Broomsticks, waiting for Amy. She had left you there saying something about a surprise she had for you. Amy was never really the one for spontaneous surprises and when she left so hurriedly, it only added to your nerves.

With your fingers you played with the edge of your now empty glass staring at the door, hoping Amy would come through it.

But instead of Amy, it was Sirius who walked through the door. Your cheeks coloured as he made eye-contact with you and then proceeded to walk over to your table. He bumped into a table and had to stop to make is apology, giving you some time to look out the window and find Amy. She was watching you and James stood besides her, giving you a thumbs up. You groaned and turned your head back to Sirius, who now had reached your table.

‘I take this seat is empty?’ he asked as he took off his jacket.

‘Yes, it is,’ you said, trying to hide your sigh.

When Amy told you she had a surprise for you, you had never expected this. You made a note to yourself to be mad at her later. But now you had to enjoy your given time with Sirius, something that wouldn't be very difficult.

You made some small talk with Sirius, until he noticed your empty glass and offered to get new drinks. When he was at the bar ordering drinks, you looked outside again, hoping to find Amy there. But she was gone and so was James. The road was empty.

And as if you hadn't been ‘lucky' enough, at the same time Sirius made his was back to your table with two butterbeers, Remus walked into the Three Broomsticks. Remus reached the table sooner than Sirius and he smiled at you as you nervously shifted in your seat.

‘Hey, Rem,’ you greeted him and from the corner of your eye, you saw James and Amy reappear in front of the window. Amy gestured at Remus and then at Sirius and she pouted her lips. With a shock you realised what she had done and your eyes widened. Panicky you turned to Remus but before you could say anything, Sirius talked,

‘Hey, Moony, what are you doing here?’

‘James sent me here,’ Remus mumbled.

Sirius stopped halfway putting the glasses on the table, leaving them twenty inches above the table. He looked up at Remus and a small blush formed on his cheeks.

‘James sent me here, too,’ he said.

You watched and saw the realisation dawn on Remus' face. He looked from Sirius at you and back at Sirius. Then he turned on his heels and walked rapidly out of the space, slamming the door shut with a loud bang. A few people in the bar looked up.

You turned to Sirius as he had his eyes focused on the closed door. He slowly sat down on the chair next to you and then averted his eyes to the surface of the table.

‘Do you like Remus?’ you asked softly, not wanting other people to hear the conversation.

Sirius kept staring at his hands, but he nodded lightly.

‘And do you like me?’

He nodded again.

‘Okay,’ you said and you placed your hand on his shoulder, forcing him to look up to you. ‘I like you too, Sirius. And I also like Remus. And I know he likes you too.’

Sirius smiled sadly at you. ‘No, he doesn't. I’m just his friend. He likes you and he wouldn't have run away if it weren't for me.’

‘He ran away because this is a big shock,’ you said, looking into the grey eyes that made you melt inside. ‘Not because he doesn't like you.’

You placed a kiss on Sirius' cheek and pulled him out of his chair. ‘We have a lot to talk about,’ you said and took him outside.

James ran after Remus as this one fled from the bar. Though Remus was fast, James managed to catch up with him. He grabbed Remus' arm and turned him around. Remus’ eyes were full of tears and they flamed as he looked at James.

‘Why did you do that?’ Remus spat. ‘Did you think it was funny? Oh, haha, let's prank Remus by sending him to y/n's date with Sirius!’

Remus pulled himself from James' grip and walked away. James ran after him and stopped in front of Remus, blocking his way.

‘Remus, listen to me!’ James cried out and he took his friend by his shoulders. ‘She likes you and Sirius! Sirius likes her and you!’

Remus snorted and tried to shake James' hands off him, but James didn't let go and continued,

‘I know you like her! And I know you like Sirius! If you walk away now, you waste every chance you have with her! Just listen to me, please.’

James let go of Remus and took a step back, giving him the chance to walk away. But Remus stayed where he was and looked at James.

‘I spoke to Amy and she said that y/n was willing to try dating both of you. I would have told you, if I hadn't known that this is the way you would react! Talk to her, listen to her!’

Remus kept his mouth shut and then shook his head. He ignored James' last attempts to get him to his senses and walked off, back to the castle.

He couldn't just date both, it would be too complicated. And besides, there was no way that Sirius liked him; he himself wasn't even sure what he felt for Sirius. It was a feeling that he had never had before. It wasn't the butterflies he got when you smiled at him or the shivers like he got when you touched him. What he felt for Sirius was a feeling that made him feel comfortable. There was no shame with Sirius.

As the sun shone on his face, while Remus walked through the open field back to the castle, he realised that maybe was he felt for Sirius was indeed a form of love. But another form than he felt for you.

He stopped in his tracks and stared at the road back to Hogwarts. Who was he kidding? Everyone else seemed to have accepted that you, Sirius and Remus would date, who was he to then deny it? He liked you, he liked Sirius. Why not?

Remus turned around and ran back to Hogsmeade. He passed students that looked at him like he was crazy, he passed shops that were only a colourful blur. The streets moved under his feet like it wasn't he who was running, but the world was spinning under his feet.

The Three Broomsticks was reached soon, but there was no sign of you or Sirius. Even Amy and James were gone now. Remus stood in the middle of the street and caught his breath, while thinking of places you and Sirius could be.

His feet brought him to his favourite spot of Hogsmeade. Though the house brought unhappy memories, the grounds around the Shrieking Shack were always silent and the crowd was gone. It was a place of peace and silence and a great spot to clear your mind.

However, as Remus walked over the grass through the fence, he heard voices. Familiar voices.

He looked to the side and saw you and Sirius, in what seemed like a serious conversation. Guilt crept up to Remus for invading such a private moment, but James' words echoed in his head. He walked over to you and Sirius and when a twig broke under his foot, you looked up. Both you and Sirius blushed at the sight of Remus and a warm feeling washed over Remus as he watched the two people he loved.

‘Come sit,’ you said and patted on the space next to you on the bench.

Remus did and as you started to talk, he looked at Sirius. This one looked back and a similar smile spread on the boys' faces. Remus looked back at you while you talked. He heard what you said, but only got the essence of your story.

‘Do you think we can do this?’ you asked, breaking the silence that had fallen after you were done talking.

‘If there's anyone who can do this, it's us,’ Sirius grinned.

‘Couldn't agree more,’ Remus said and he smiled at Sirius.

It would be a difficult road, but you'll make it work.

-...they literally stole the infinity gauntlet from marvel and called it the reality gauntlet. is that legal. what the fuck. even with the gems in the lil slots, having different powers...they had freakshow in jail, but didnt check his pockets??! hes just still in his lil outfit??? what kind of ...oh, its in amity park. yeah, all of the adults are idiots, okay, sure.

'in the anemic flesh!' dude take some iron pills then. also, sure, the red eyes could be contacts for his aesthetic, but the whites of his eyes are yellow! does he have jaundice?! he severely needs more...like, every kind of vitamin. -I know, on a meta level the showrunners probably wanted to just reset things to the status quo of him having a secret identity. But. We've been doing that for (2) seasons, I'd love if season 3 could be like, his parents adjusting to this and trying way harder to learn more and accept it (and the shenanigans that could come from that) and for fun, if he didn't wipe the students memories, it could be him being popular for a while, then everyone slowly realizing, oh, he's still Danny. Like. he might have ghost powers but hes Just The Same Guy instead of putting him on a pedestal (and seeing them all try and help him hide it from the giw/people who don't know!!)

-fuck they didn't even explain WHY he wiped everyone except sam, tucker and jazz's memories. he just Did It right when his parents were saying they loved/accepted him!! and sam and tucker didnt question it at all!!! HELLO??? very annoyed about this turn of events.

I think the reason Kala was so confused about her feelings for Rajan but not confused about her feelings for Wolfgang is because she and Wolfgang are from the same cluster and the emotions they share between each other are so clear and understandable because everything one of them feels is exactly what the other feels. But with Rajan she was always confused because there was no instant Senseate connection and she never knew what love felt like before, she never knew what it was supposed to feel like and so she had no idea what she was feeling for Rajan, yet through her connection with Wolfgang she began to fully understand her feelings for Rajan and her confusion around those feelings began to dissipate and she started to realize that she really was starting to fall in love with Rajan, which is why she didn't take the out he offered her during their honeymoon. She was still confused at that point, but she knew that she couldn't lose him, that she needed him in some way or another and as the senseate connections began to fully solidify and she started to feel less and less afraid of those emotions she never really understood before her confusion surrounding how she felt for Rajan fell away, but other fears began to take over surrounding the fact that she had fallen in love with two men. And so her feelings for Rajan were no longer what confused her, it was the fact that she felt like she was betraying both of these men by being in love with both of them which is why I believe things became so easy once Rajan knew about her being a senseate, because now she didn't have to lie to him anymore, now she could tell the truth and it didn't feel like she was betraying them by going behind their backs, now she was able to love both of them openly, and Rajan found that he could not only love his wife, but the man his wife loved too. And I do believe the poly relationship was a little rushed, but I also believe that it was the plan all along and if they'd been given the time to fully explore it we would have seen how Kala stopped being confused by her feelings for Rajan and we would have seen how Wolfgang had started to fall for him too, and we would have seen how Rajan fell for Wolfgang the same way he fell for Kala. But in the end Sense8 had the only valid solution for a love triangle and that was polyamory

Okay so i've now decides ur my guide into all things Danny Phantom lmao, i just have one more question: //the ships// what even is the shipping culture here, i've seen basically NOTHING. Is just because they're all underage and the fandom is mostly grown (is that even true??) If so, that is one hell of a feat good job guys

This is actually really funny to me, because our shipping culture is, uh.  Really weird.  Even from the inside.  Like, apparently we inherited some extreme strangeness from the Early Phandom Days.  We have unique ship names for just about every conceivable pairing, and some that... should honestly not be conceived of.  This is the most complete list I’ve found.  Thankfully, most of these are jokes and do not have fics.  As far as I know.  (This isn’t a challenge, guys.)

But, yeah.  Shipping isn’t a huge part of our phandom culture overall.  It’s kinda just in the background.  I think this is partially because we have a high percentage of ace people, but IDK.  We put all our shipping energy into making communal OCs, I guess.

As far as phandom ages go, I think someone did a survey a year or two back, and most of the people who answered were teens.  I wish I could find the survey to show you, but I never reblogged it.  On the other hand, a lot of the more active members are in their twenties.  A lot of people on the rec list I sent you are adults.  I’m in my late twenties myself.

Danny/Sam aka Amethyst Ocean.  This is the canonical endgame ship.  Has both good points and bad points that have been extensively explored in fic.  The most likely one to show up in the background of gen fics.  Often paired with Valerie/Tucker (Hunter Silly).

Danny/Valerie aka Gray Ghost.  This is also a canon ship.  A dating catwoman situation, since Valerie hates and often fights Danny when he’s Phantom.  I think this and Amethyst Ocean had some drama back in the day, but I wasn’t there for that.  There’s still a little tiny drama because some people who ship this also bash Sam.  Also very popular.  Often paired with Sam/Tucker (Veggie Burger).

Danny/Paulina aka Shallow Sapphire or Pink Astronaut.  Which name gets used depends on both time and how the person feels about the ship.  Sort of canon?  But it’s the typical mean popular girl crush thing in canon.  People who like it usually flesh out Paulina a lot and add in a lot of Mexican or Spanish cultural stuff, depending on where they think Paulina is from, which is cool.  

Danny/Tucker aka Savant Par.  No idea why it’s called that.  Kind of rarer compared to the Amethyst Ocean and Gray Ghost, but there’s still a respectable number of fics.  

Danny/Dash aka Teddy Ghost.  Often gets some discourse when it comes up, because Dash is a bully in canon, but some people like it a lot.  I think I see art for it more often than Savant Par, but I don’t have stats.  

Danny/Wes aka Unidentified Flying Ship.  Yes, we ship Danny with our phandom conspiracy theorist OC.  Yes, it’s weirdly popular.  

Danny/Sam/Tucker aka Everlasting Trio.  We love our poly ships.  I have never seen even a little drama attached to this.  I think I’ve seen Valerie get added, sometimes, but I don’t think there’s a name for that.  

Maddie/Jack aka Brain Cookies aka Moronic Genius.  Again, canon, and is usually in the background of whatever else is going on.  Assume it’s there if Jack and Maddie are there.  

Maddie/Vlad aka Spurned Affection.  Because sometimes people like to see the bad guys win.  

Maddie/Vlad/Jack aka Family Breakfast.  Again, we love our poly ships.  The solution to all love triangles.

And then, sadly...  Because you can’t have fandom without sketchy ships...

Danny/Ghost Writer aka Iambic Prose.  I have mixed feelings about this one, because it’s usually a teenager and a theoretically immortal ghost of unclear age, but the people who write for it do it well.  

Danny and Vlad.  Aka Po/mpous P/ep.  (Backslashed because I don’t want tumblr’s algorithms to get a hold of it).  The fact that this exists, let alone that there are so many fics for it, bothers me.  Evidently caused great drama back when the phandom still had contact with Butch and the show was ongoing.  Continues to cause drama when it comes up because it’s just... gross.  People will list it in their DNIs.  

This isn’t even getting into platonic and parental ships, some of which are even bigger and more popular than the romantic ones.  I don’t think any of them are super active right now, but, like, if you’re going back in the archives, there’s a lot of contact.
