quaso tier list

I noticed that croissants are a trendy food now…? There’s many different variations of it on social media and many eateries doing their own creative spin on it. I thought it would be funny to make a croissant tier list (from Rollo's perspective) on what does or does not qualify as a "real" croissant.

This is dedicated to you, quaso king 🥐

DISCLAIMER: This is just for fun and in no way reflects my own opinions!! I don't mean to be rude or to talk down to the establishments who make and/or serve any of the croissants pictured here. I think they should make whatever they want to (get your coin) and salute them for their innovation! o_o)7

And now, without further ado...

The reasoning (again, with Rollo's perspective in mind):

"as god intended" = Rollo has very conservative and plain tastes, so I firmly believe he would place a normal ass croissant in the top tier and nothing else.

"socially acceptable but still sinful" = In this tier are common variations of the regular croissant but have some addition(s) that Rollo may deem "too much". This may include sweet (chocolate, cream, fruit, nuts, powdered sugar) or savory (cheese, vegetables, meat) fillings/toppings.

"abomination" = This tier includes croissants that still retain the "croissant" (crescent) shape but have 1-2 elements that are... off... somehow. For example, miniature croissants (that you are encouraged to dip into your drink), whole spears of asparagus stuffed inside the pastry, carving out the middle of a croissant and filling the cavity with other things, and... frozen croissants *shivers* Also here is the "crookie" or combining cookie dough with a croissant.

"blasphemy" = This is when the croissants start fucking with the shape or the form (which Rollo does NOT approve of). Both examples in this tier are just slightly twisty variants, which (while still offensive) is not as offensive compared to what's to come. Also here is a giant croissant, which got downgraded from "abomination" tier despite being the correct croissant shape due to the sheer excess of size.

"contrition" = Here we have flat, crispy as heck croissants and these fat... round... wheel-like stuffed croissants with a LOT of filling. Rollo would call the former basically a potato chip (it only ranks this high because it technically keeps the crescent shape) and the latter too indulgent and being slightly off from the original crescent.

"damnation" = These are not even croissants anymore, it's literally a muffin, a waffle, a donut, and burger buns made with croissant batter.

"eternal damnation (to hellfire with you)" = Rollo voice) WE HAVE GONE TOO FAR, IT IS TIME TO STOP. Yes, you are looking at croissant BOXES, croissant ONIGIRI (with strips of nori and toppings/fillings characteristic of actual rice balls), and some... croissants of a churro-like shape...) The last item here is a rice paper croissant... which, while resembling the shape typical of a croissant, is completely different in composition and is therefore messing with tradition. It is deemed worthy of eternal damnation.

Seungmin| Puppy

Seungmin always fed the stray puppy in the park at night. Ever since the puppy arrived a few weeks ago.

He wanted to take it home. But it was kind of hard right now since he was so busy. So he resolved to take it home if the puppy was still at the park when he came back from the few fan meets he was doing in Europe; it would surely be happy there. With love from multiple people.

He wouldn't make it suffer any longer. He'd even give it extra treats. He knew Felix and IN were bound to sneak it some food as well.

Seungmin had yet to name the puppy. Because he couldn't find the right name for the poor girl.

At least he thought it was a girl.

She was dirty so he couldn't tell what color she was. He wanted to give her a name that had to do with her fur. Like Honey or S'mores or something along the lines of sweet treats.

He couldn't wait to get back from the fan meets. He always enjoyed being with the fans but he loved this dog dearly, and it had only been less than a month.

The first time he had seen it he knew he just had to keep it.

Seungmin clicked his tongue and the puppy came running out of the bushes.

He'd come prepared with sweet potato and chicken treats, he had quickly found out it was her favorite snack to eat.

She wagged her tail and came up to Seungmin, placing a few kisses on his hands and face before delicately taking the treat out of his hand and eating it.

"Psh! Churro! Where are you?"

The dog looked at Seungmin and cocked her head.

"Chu...rro..." Seungmin said quietly. The dog wagged her tail and licked Seungmin. Starting to run in place a little, her rear sticking up in the air slightly.

The name sounded foreign on his tongue but he liked it.

"Churro? Where are you?"

Seungmin picked up Churro and gave her another treat. 

She wagged her tail against Seungmin's side and the soft thumping matched his footsteps as he walked towards the voice as she chomped her treat happily.

Seungmin rounded the corner and saw what he believed to be the prettiest girl he had ever seen.

You turned to him and your heart swelled. The boy holding Churro was absolutely stunning. Downright adorable even.

"You found Churro!" You happily rush over to the cute guy and your new puppy.

Well hopefully your new puppy. You didn't have a place to keep her, since your apartment didn't allow it.

But you would figure it out.

"Yeah, I guess I did...I'm Kim Seungmin."

"Y/N L/N. It's nice to meet you!"

You did mean it. He was rather attractive. And he looked even more attractive holding a puppy.

"Is um...Churro yours? I've been feeding her for the past couple of weeks I...don't mean to make her gain weight she just looked like a stray- not that your taking poor care of her...I..." He stopped his rambling.

You smiled brightly and laughed. And damn did your laugh do things to Seungmin’s stomach.

"She's not mine...yet." You sigh. "My apartment doesn't allow dogs. But I really love her. I just...need some time to figure it out."

Seungmin perked up. "She could stay with me! I love dogs! But I'll be gone for a few weeks so you could take care of her! She could just sleep at the dorms!"

You look at the excitement on Seungmin's face. He really was adorable.

"Really? I could do that?"

Seungmin nods. "On one condition..."

You wait patiently for his condition.

"You go on a date with me..." His face turns red.

You laughed as you reached out to pet Churro, your fingers colliding with Seungmin’s gently, a ticklish electricity in the places your skin touched.

"Deal. But maybe make it more dates. I have a feeling I'll like you."

Seungmin smiles. "I have a feeling I'll like you too."

Jungkook walked into his professors office. Along with Namjoon as his guardian. The instinct to hide behind his pack alpha was pretty strong.

"Don't worry." Namjoon comforted rubbing his back. "I have all the papers here about Y/n's friends admittance to the hospital. I'm sure we will figure it out."

Jungkook nods biting his lip in worry.

They knock the professors door.

"Come in." The voice calls.

"Oh Jungkook ssi. And this must be your guardian."

"Pack Alpha. Kim Namjoon."

"Yes. Please take a seat."

Namjoon explained the situation to the professor.

"I'm not sure how much I can help you. You understand that he could have submitted before and its an important project for the final grade."

"Ofcourse professor. But it would be very gracious of you if you could offer us any solution."

The professor thought for a moment.

"While usually I don't do this but to raise your grade you may volunteer to supervise the freshmen trip. I'm the Head of the committee and we could use some man power."

"Thank you. Thanks a lot professor." Namjoon says flashing her a very bright blinding smile and Jungkook would be jealous except he knew how Namjoon always giggled when he was truly happy. The professor seemed charmed.

Namjoon rubbed Jungkook's back reassuringly.

"Everything will be fine now."

"Thanks hyung."

"You're welcome."

Jungkook fiddled with his thumbs. Unsure how to broach the topic of you. He almost hated that you came in their lives but in reality he hated himself for being insecure.

"Hyung." Jungkook started.

Namjoon's phone began to ring.

"Give me a moment Jungkook." He said before answering the call.

From the end of the corridor, a figure waved. Jungkook waved back to his friend Eunwoo.

"Hyung, I'm going to go meet Eunwoo. See you later."

Namjoon nodded and gave Jungkook a side hug before leaving.

"Still need Mr. Alpha to protect you." Eunwoo joked as Jungkook neared. Jungkook only rolled his eyes in response. He had enough of his friends teasing. Yes they had to listen to him show off about his pack and he might have gone over board. But nobody can blame him, he felt so good with his pack.

"What are you doing here?" Jungkook asked.

"Nothing important just dropping off some forms. You?"

"I kind of missed an important deadline so Namjoon hyung came to talk to the professor."

"You should be careful kook-ah." Eunwoo cautioned his friend.

"I know. I know."

Working together with your soulmate had to be the best thing ever. Jimin thought.

The two of them had been very busy after their break they had to set up a new exhibition. And setting up a new theme was never easy from looking into artworks, their aptness, setting them, having the backdrop and lighting changed to fit the new theme, archiving carefully the old ones, separating the loaned ones and returning them before their due. Making sure new pamphlets and posters are printed according to the guidelines.

The two of them had been working overtime because of all that. So when their boss instructed them to overlook installation of some of the artworks that had been bid on previously. They took the time to have a lunch break.

The restaurant was nice and casual. It was famous for its latest addition. A Polaroid wall for people to make memories. They gave you a free picture if you left a review. Otherwise they'd just put your picture on the wall. Whoever planned it, their plan was working the place was packed.

"What do you want to order?" Jimin asked.

"Chese burger and potato wedges." Taehyung answered perusing the drinks section.

"Fine I'm having the lemon chicken bake pasta. What about drinks?"

"Mojito." Tae decides

"The Berry slushie sounds good to me. You want dessert?" Jimin says.

"We can grab churros on our way back from that bakery we saw while we came here." Tae suggests.

"Ok. I'm going to go order now." Jimin replies.

"Am I seeing things or is that y/n" Tae wonders aloud.

Jimin turns and there you are. A sight for sore eyes. He misses your company but there is nothing he can do about it.

Taehyung tugs his sleeve. "Jiminie ok"

Jimin nods.

You too seem to notice them as the server guides you to the table. You nod your head in greeting but focus on Yeonjun.

Jimin feels a flash of possessiveness and jealousy.

"Do you want to share the milkshake?" Yeonjun asks. "Their large one is cheaper but I can't finish it alone."

"Yes, it's fine." You reply. It's weird to sit across Jimin and Taehyung and not with them.

Their faces look tired but you suppressed your curiosity about them. There was no point of being overly friendly.

"Are you going to the camping trip?" Yeonjun asks.

"I think I will Suyeon send me the brochure. It sounds fun. What about you?"

"If you're going I'll go." He says smoothly causing you to blush.

Jimin can feel his temper rising. My omega his brain screams.

"Yeonjun." You whine and hit him playfully.

"It's true I've already been there with my pack so I'm only going if there's good reason."

"So I'm your good reason?"

"The best."

Taehyung's eyes narrow. Both of them can't help but eavesdrop on your conversation.

You chuckle.

"Sure sure. I'm sure I'm not that special."

"You are. You are special to me." He replies.

The server comes with your meals.

They try to ignore it. They really do but you sharing the Milkshake with Yeonjun's the last straw.

When the time comes to pay the bill you learn that it has been paid and they leave you a note.

"Do you know them y/n?" Yeonjun asks.

"Yes they are omegas I'm close with."

"Oh." Yeonjun said. It wasn't unheard of for omegas to court omegas but it was odd for friends to behave this way. Maybe they were trying to warn me. Yeonjun thought.

Taehyung and Jimin share a look. They need to tell Jungkook. If he doesn't get his act together now he never wouldn't even get a chance to try.

You call your mom when you reach home. You hope she'll let you go on the trip.

"Hello?" You ask as soon as she picks up.

"Hello Y/n everything ok?"

"Yes everything is fine? How's your day going?"

"Good good things have been busy here but it's nice. How's the pack?"

"Good... they're fine." You answer.

"I remember courting your dad. What a time it was. Make sure you enjoy it."

"Mum actually our college is going on a trip can I go. I'll send you the details."

"Ah my baby has grown up. Ofcourse you should go. I will send extra money ok. Buy yourself nice clothes and things you need too. "

"Thank you mum."

"Anything for you. Now I'll check the brochure send me any forms I might need to fill."

"Ok understood. Thank you. Love you. Bye."

"Bye love you too." Your mum replies before hanging up.

You feels so happy you do a little dance of celebration.

You text Suyeon.

Y/n: I got it. I got permission. This is going to be the best trip ever

"Tomorrow I have to study for a class test."

"I'm sorry. Honest mistake... why don't you go with the pack."

"The pack."

"Yes its not like you are not close to them. Things might be awkward because of a certain someone but that doesn't mean you shouldn't hang out with the others. I mean you always miss them. And you did go out shopping with them before."

You find yourself being convinced. So you knock on their door.

Yoongi opens the door.

"Is everything ok?" He asks looking over you to see any signs of panic and injury.

"Hi yeah. It's just that Iwasgoingshoppingandwonderedifanyonewouldaccompanyme?"

"Slow down biscuit."

"I sorry I'm a bit nervous."

"No need to be nervous. Now did you need something? Why don't you come in first huh. Its so hot you might get a sunburn."

You nod and follow him inside.

"I wanted to go shopping because there is a University trip and I was wondering if anyone would like to come with me?" You tell Yoongi.

As you enter the living room. You see Jin and Taehyung snacking watching anime in the living room.

"Y/n!!" Taehyung is the first to notice you and calls you excitedly.

"Y/n come sit we were just talking about you. You'll like this one." Jin said patting the empty space next to him.

You felt your heart warm.

"Y/n needs to go shopping for... where are you going?" Yoongi tells them.

"Camping." You supply.

"Oh I have just the thing for you. Guys take care of her."

"Do you want to go right now." Jin asks turning of the TV.

"Yes I was supposed to go with Suyeon and she's busy and then I'm busy so today I'm hoping to find something good but if I go by myself it'll take longer to find myself things."

"Give us 15 minutes." Taehyung says and he rushes into his room.

You nod. Jin goes to the kitchen and brings out cookies.

"Here's a little snack. I will be back quick." Jin says.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome sweetheart."

As Jin leaves you sit on the couch and munch cookies. You feel comforted by the packs scent. You didn't realise how much you missed the pack. In a way you were grateful your best friend made you come to the pack.

Yoongi enters the room smiling fondly at you. He places a box infront of you.

"What's this?" You ask.

"A first aid box and some camping essentials. If you need anything else ask me. Me and Jin hyung go fishing so we have enough camping supplies no need to but things you will only use once. I can teach you some things if you want as well. There is basic first aid supplies and then there are fire supplies to light up campfire post rain as well and other things."

"Thank you." You say touched.

"Anytime biscuit." He replies feeling good.

Taehyung and Jin come out of their rooms dressed up. You can't help but admire how good they look. Jin is dressed in a button down and black ripped jeans and Taehyung's dressed in a tshirt with rips and faded blue jeans and a beanie.

"Come on let's go. Y/n." Jin says.

"Ah yes." You look at the kit.

"You can take this when you come back." Yoongi says.

"Thanks."

"Come on Y/n-ie we are getting late." Taehyung says.

Yoongi comes to drop you all out. Even opening the door for you.

"See you later. Have fun." He says.

You all wave him goodbye.

Jin turns the radio. You sit next to him and Taehyung is in the back but leaning front.

"So do you have any outfits in mind?" Taehyung asks.

"No not really. Something comfortable but also I look good in and avoid material that can get damaged in a camping trip." You reply.

Jin's and Taehyung's phones both go off at the same time. Taehyung looks at the phone and his expression turns into neutral, Jin looks at Taehyung via his back mirror, Taehyung mouths 'tell you later'.

"Is something the matter?" You ask.

"Nothing. Why don't you tell me have you thought about buying boots?" Taehyung answers.

Namjoon: pack meeting to discuss Jungkook and Y/n situation. Everyone needs to be present tonight.

All I'm going to say is that rereading this to collect info I just made up along the way makes me reflect on the bizarre writing process. Anyhow I made notes not to forget from now on.

When I write it feels like going up a mountain but reading was just like walking down a hill.

It's been a while I got busy with life and a little writers block I hope you like it. Let me know your thoughts.

Share us your wisdom of the Overwatch cookbook

Alright so let's get started on the little bits of lore sprinkled in this book! In the book the recipes are separated into continents so I'll do the same here.

Also please not this book came out awhile ago so many characters are not going to be included. I am forever asking for a new cook book everyday.

I'm only really going to get into the descriptions but if people want I can analyse the recipes themselves, but I think you would need to specify the specific character.

Anyway let's get into it!!

The Americas

Cassidy

Cassidy always got Carne Adovada when he was in New Mexico, he specifically got it from this whole-in-the-wall on Route 66 just outside Albuquerque. It also states that he got a "hearty serving" of it.

Cassidy often has Bizcochitos when celebrating or just when he's having a break. It also seems like he enjoys them specifically because they remind him of home. I personally read that as they were something his family made pre-crisis.

Cassidy's cocktail of choice is called "Deadeye", it's sold at the Calaveras bar. It contains four black tea bags and four ounces of bourbon. making it like that gives you two servings. Also the description of this drink implies that Cassidy regularly put bourbon in his coffee.

The drinks name being "Deadeye" could imply that the bartender named it after Cassidy. The description of Deadeye also comfirms that Cassidy is a regular at Calaveras.

Ashe

Corn pudding is a comfort food for Ashe, B.O.B often makes it after a heist has gone sideways. She also eats it after every encounter with Cassidy. B.O.B makes it without being asked.

Ashe doesn't like a lot of deserts because of her parents neglect and the amount of bad birthday's she's had, however, Orange Crème Caramel, a flan dessert, is one or the few deserts she likes, even calling it one of her favourites.

Ashe's choice of drink to unwind with after a long day of running the Deadlock gang is Texas fizz. It also seems like her drinks of choice are more on the fizzy side.

None of her recipes imply that she cooks anything herself.

Soldier 76

Jack and Ana often made pancakes in the morning before Overwatch collapsed, Jack often adding cinnamon and orange zest to the batter to give it more flavour. When asked Jack would say the flavour would give the pancakes a little extra pick-me-up first thing in the mourning.

Jack's family had a meatloaf night and a chicken-and-biscuits Sunday.

Jack often makes an old family recipe when he's feeling wistful, specifically he makes a "Tater Tot hot dish", it basically a shepherd's pie with potato gems (tater tots) instead of mash potato. The reason he makes this dish specifically is because of how flexible it is, allowing him to use whatever meat and veg is on hand.

Before he and Vincent broke up Jack tended to make Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie for them both during the rare peaceful weekends.

The 76 was a milkshake Jack used to get after working on his families farm in the summer.

From all the recipes he has I think it's safe to say that Jack has a sweet tooth (like seriously all the recipes have a ungodly amount of sugar, even the tater tot one-)

Reaper

Reyes go to breakfast is a Breakfast Quesadilla, something that he has always made even when growing up in Los Angeles.

Even as Reaper he can still eat regular food, something I have seen people ask if he can still do.

In the early OW days Ana, Jack and Gabe often sat down and shared some churros. His go to food after a rough day is Chili Con Queso.

Reyes made his own cocktail, called the "Scythe", to drink after a difficult Blackwatch mission, such as the Venice Incident... when I say there is a lot of alcohol in this drink I mean it-

Sombra

Molletes are Sombra's go to food while she's working (I've made this recepie and same girl same)

Sombra's Sopa Azteca recepie implies one of two things about her, one she was taken in by a family at some point, or two she managed to get a home on her own when she was a kid. My bet is on the former since it's implied she doesn't really make it herself. Though this does seem to be a comfort food from her childhood.

Sombra likes Conchas and it's implied that she gets them from the Bakery Alejandra and her mother work at/own.

Sombra favouite cocktail is the Dorado Sunset, something that seems to be a common cocktail in Dorado but the Bartender at Calaveras makes the recepie shown in the cookbook specifically for her. This confirms what it does for Cassidy and that is the fact that they are both regulars.

Lucio

Lucio's go to snack is Pao De Queijo.

Lucio tends to go fishing, or that at least what his Moqueca recipe description reads to me.

Lucio's father made him Brigadeiros on his birthday, leading to Lucio considering them a very special treat.

(in all honesty the descriptions for Lucio's recepies are small and don't really reveal much so-)

Africa

Ana

Ana never learned how to cook because of missions and training, so her go to meals were salad and soups.

Most of the recipes Ana did know were recipes she made for or with Fareeha.

The descriptions of Ana's recipes never mention Sam, only ever mentioning sharing these recipes with Fareeha, further signifying that Ana and Sam are divorced though it seems to me that it was earlier in Fareeha's life then I initially thought.

Pharah

Baked Kibbeh is a recepie she learned from Ana and after Ana's "death" it was a comfort food for her.

Canadian Butter tarts are something that both Fareeha and her father bond over and often share during the holidays.

This is were Cassidy and Sam's relationship is described as "complicated". It's also implied that Pharah was often sent to spend the holidays with Sam, meaning Ana seemingly had majority custody over Fareeha.

Sometimes, Pharah dreams of just sitting down with her mother and sharing a glass of Sahlab.

Doomfist

Doomfist seems to be similar to Ashe in being implied to just... not cook for himself.

Before missions he eats a bowl of Jollof rice, something he did bac when he was doing martial arts.

When he was a kid his favourite sweet was shuku shuku.

Doomfist considers gin over rum because it's more sophisticated.

Orisa

Puff Puff's are one of Efi's go to foods, they are also mentioned a lot in the Hero of Numbani novel.

Efi made a Sundae inspired off of Orisa.

Efi's go to drink when working is hibiscus tea.

Tracer

Lena comfort food is Sticky Toffee Pudding, she often makes it whens she's feeling low to remind herself of what she's fighting for.

Lena's favourite meal is fish and chips, specifically the ones from Bell's Fish and Chips.

Lena and Emily like to share Battenberg cake, usually after a date at the movies.

Lena got a Primm's cocktail renamed after her after her efforts in restoring peace after the Kings Row Uprising. The drink was renamed the Cavalry Charge and it is something even Torb enjoys. Though he does mutter to himself that he should have never given her that catchphrase.

Moira

Moira's go to breakfast is a Full Irish Breakfast washed down with a cup of coffee

Moira and her family had regular Sunday Family Dinners, to the point were Guinness Stew is a comfort food for her. It is something she makes when she's craving the warmth and comfort of home.

Moira makes Barmbrack after a day in the lab though she sometimes changes the original recipe to fit with the tastes of Oasis, implying that she sometimes shares this dish with her colleagues there.

Torbjorn

Torbjorns favourite thing to cook is kroppkakor because how easy it is to tinker with.

Ingrid is a chemical engineer and she a very inquisitive, something she passed down to Brigitte, and to the surprise of no one her apple pie the favourite of one Angela Zeigler.

Brigitte

Toast Skagen seems to be her go to brain food, often eating it when she's working on something.

Brigitte like donuts, but not more then semlor buns.

Brigs go to drink is the Saft Drink, however she often changes the recipe to include a variety of different things each time, only ever using a template to help her make the drink.

Widowmaker

Widow often cooks herself since she is now living in her the abandoned Château Gilliard, one of her go to meals is Vichyssoise, which she finds fitting due to it being served cold.

Gratin Dauphinois was a favourite of Amelie and Gerard's, now she only really eats it for sustenance.

Widow loves pavlova, both when she was Amelie and even now as Widowmaker. She often eats it after a successful mission.

It's implied in the desciption of her "Widows Kiss" drink that she drinks it at the end of every day, she likes the bite of the drink.

Reinhardt

To no ones surprise Reinhardt eats a lot.

Kasespatzle is a comfort food for Reinhardt, often eating either for his own enjoyment or because he is feeling discouraged.

One of the things that help Reinhardt remember the possotive memories he has in Eichenwalde is the cake that is made there.

Reinhardt is a loud but fun drunk.

Bastion likes Bird-Shaped Pretzels

Bastion knows how to make treats for birds.

Mercy

Mercy's go to meal is Bircher Muesli, she often recomends it to patients and even made Genji eat it while he was in recovery. Though he seemed to have not enjoy it at the beginning he has since grown to like it.

Like Cassidy, Angela takes enjoyment in eating cookies while taking a break or just when she's feeling overwhelmed, her favourite cookie is the Basler Brunsli.

Angela often mixes brandy in with her tea after a life-threatening ordeal.

Australia

Junkrat

Junkertown has a local burger called, well, Junkertown loaded Burger, which is one of Junkrats favourite meals.

Honestly these recipes confirm my belief that Junckrat should not be allowed near a kitchen.

Junkrat like Boba, idk if this is in his emote or not but it's not just a little reference, Junkrat just likes boba.

Roadhog

Roadhog often makes snack mixes because he and Junkrat never really have time for a full meal.

Roadhog used to be a farmer before the crisis, from this time fairy bread has become a comfort food.

Asia

Genji

Genji and Hanzo both loved the Rikimaru ramen shop when they were younger, often challenging eachother to see who could eat the spiciest bowl. Though Genji has made peace with his past those happy days with his bother still weigh heavily on him.

Soba-cha custard was something invented by the Shimada chef as a way to reward Genji and Hanzo for studying. Genji used to eat his on the roof of Shimada castle in order to look over the rest of Hanamura.

Green Dragon Tea seems to be something Genji made while he was under the teachings of Zenyatta.

Hanzo

Hanzo seemingly doesn't know how to cook complex meals like the ones he used to eat with the Shimada clan, right now he often eats simplistic dishes like Tamago Kake Gohan.

When he was younger Hanzo would have Shimada Tempura to reward himself after getting all his jobs done, his doesn't eat it anymore but the smell of it brings him back to a simpler time.

Hana's favourite food, other than chips and nano-cola, is Kimbap, so much so that when her fanbase found out MEKA made an official MEKA Kimbap, specific to all of Hana's favourite fillings.

When Hana finally takes a break, Dae-hyun tends to make her his Japchae.

Hotteok are Hana and Dae-hyun's go to victory food.

Hana has a drink named after her, well more specifically her mech, called the Bunny Hop Punch, it is one of her favourite drinks to order

Mei

Mei often cooked for her friends at the Ecopoint, now when she cooks she gets a bitter sweet feeling. Even so, she still cooks the recipes she did back at the Ecopoint to relive the good times she had with her team. This includes when she makes hot chocolate.

Despite cooking a lot, Mei was never able to make certain recipes out in Antarctica, now though with her travelling the world she can make more of the food she wanted.

Zarya

Her favourite soup, Borscht, might be the inspiration for her hair colour. This was also something she had often as a child, along with being one of her favourite meals.

Like many others Zarya got a drink named after her called the Super Nova, it is a pink twist on the White Russian.

Symmetra

Pakora is a childhood favourite of Satya's, though she can't eat it a lot with Viskar, she still enjoys a plate when she can.

Symmetra often enjoys the flaovors of the food from her home, even though it is worlds apart from the food Vishkar serves. It is a comfort food for her.

Symmetra likes making Kaju Katli because she can make the dough into any shape she wants.

Zenyatta

Zenyatta often uses food to spread empathy and understanding, often using it as a way to bond with the people he encounters.

Zenyatta often make Vegan Momos to share with those met meets during his travels, Genji being one of these people

The go to Tea for the human Shambali pilgrims is Tibetan Butter Tea.

Winston

Winston likes Pineapple on Pizza, this type of Pizza was often enjoyed on Gibraltar and other Watch points, often being on the centre of the table

Harold Winston used to make Lunar Colony Pies for Winston before he died, Winston still has fond memories of these pies

Bananas are WInstons least favourite food, only tolerating them if they are dipped in peanut butter

some of my pics from culture night a week ago (aka: first day i almost started feeling normal and experiencing some positive feelings, after the current life crisis thats been happening)

i went w my sibling and their partner on the local vintage train and then hung out a bit downtown, bought a cute snowglobe and angel at the cathedral shop, was given an angel reflector and a candle from a church lady at the suicide memorial/awareness thing (and hung a paper heart with a message in the tree they'd arranged with poems and thoughts for mental health and suicide), ate a tasty meatball beet salad sandwich at the kiosk of the vintage train's stop and some fun doughnuts and churros downtown (those are recent things, when i grew up here u couldnt even find american-style doughnuts, only filled ones). normally my culture night meal is a plate of herring and potatoes from a restaurant near the cathedral that sells them on the street specially for the festival, but i couldnt get it this time, didnt mind tho bc i ate well anyway.

Burning Love

Arven x Reader, no gendered pronouns used, established relationship. CW, minor burns, kitchen accident.

Since the two of you moved in together, Arven has cooked nearly every single meal the two of you ate. Anything he didn’t make himself was either takeaway or was eaten at a restaurant. 

You realized this when you’d gone into the kitchen to make yourself a drink and found that you didn’t know where one of your favorite cups was.

You sat there embarrassed for a moment before scouring the cabinets to find it, too embarrassed to ask Arven how he’d organized your shared kitchen.

You returned to your shared living space, drink in hand and a plot in your heart to be enacted the next morning.

Without disturbing Arven (or Mabosstiff who is still fast asleep at his feet), you tiptoe downstairs with skeledirge and head to the kitchen. Truth be told, skeledirge is no help though. He curls up in a corner and just goes back to sleep.

Now. For the plot. If Arven has made you every single meal in your home until now, you can at least make him one measly breakfast in bed. Right? Right.

Here’s the menu:

Orange juice

Churros

Eggs

Potatoes

Bacon

Heavy? Yes. Delicious? Also yes. Maybe a bit much? Also, also yes. But you’re also the champion who saved the region. You’re basically the definition of “a bit much.” You’ve got this.

The orange juice and churros are easy enough. That’s basically just pouring a glass and opening a package and warming a thing. You’ll save that for last.

Potatoes are time consuming but also not terribly hard. Arven taught you basic kitchen knife skills awhile ago, so you easily dice a few potatoes and set them to boil in some water. Once they’re boiled, you’ll pop them into the oven with some olive oil and seasoning to get the outside nice and crispy. Again, easy enough.

The tricky part is the eggs and bacon bit. Or, really deciding when you want to start the eggs. You don’t want them to get cool because no one likes a cold egg…

And bacon. Well…Bacon’s kinda easy? But you also don’t want it going cold. You also want to be sure it’s the perfect amount of crispy for Arven. 

You deliberate while the potatoes boil and eventually decide that you’ll do the bacon before the eggs; after you’ve set them in the oven.

Once you’ve got the potatoes set to get all nice “home-fries”y, you take a moment to delight in the smell of the kitchen with its warm cooking spices and everything. 

Gosh, cooking is fun. You get why Arven loves it so much!

Okay, time to get to the bacon.

You set the skillet down on the stovetop and get the heat going before you lay down the thick cut strips of maple bacon that Arven bought from a specialty market recently and delight in that initial sizzle. Skeledirge even lifts his head from his little bagel shape in the corner to monitor you with eager eyes.

“We’ll see if we’ve got leftovers, okay, buddy?”

He lowers his head, but keeps a predatory gaze on the bacon.

Things seem to be going well enough, so you decide to prep the eggs by cracking them into a cup, rather than risk cracking them into the pan and having some eggshell accidentally mix in while the heat is on.

You turn your back on the stovetop and oven to get three eggs all set to go. You consider cooking them in some leftover bacon grease too. Would that be good? You know Arven stores some in a jar, but you don’t know if it’s meant for cooking or not after it’s been stored like that…

By the time you’ve looked back to the oven, you can see smoke seeping from the door.

You’re no stranger to fire. Your starter pokemon was fuecoco. You’ve absolutely dealt with stupid fires before. To this day, you’re not entirely sure that skeledirge has anything more than a peanut between his precious eyes.

All that to say, you’re not afraid to open the door to the smoking oven. You’ve prepped with oven mitts, and you’re ready to deal with burnt potatoes.

What you’re not quite ready to deal with however, is the wave of heat that hits you. You know you set the oven to the correct temperature that was listed on the recipe you grabbed online, so something must have gone awry.

You’re also not quite ready to deal with potato smoke getting in your eyes.

After plopping the burning (but luckily not on fire) tray onto the stovetop, you blindly reach for the fan button on the stove hood. You especially want the smoke to start getting out of the way before any–

BEEP BEEP BEEP

….Detectors go off….

Fuck. Well now Arven’s awake.

You keep searching for the fan button to get the smoke out while your other hand goes to turn off the oven. 

Unfortunately for you, your hand finds the bacon grease. Popping, sizzling bacon grease.

You curse loudly and jump back from the stovetop entirely, clutching your now burned hand as you fall to the kitchen floor.

“What’s going on?!” Arven yells as he gets downstairs. Mabosstiff is at his side, and he’s got the pokeballs for garganacl and cloyster in each hand. “What kind of fire is it?”

“No fire,” You call to him blindly from eyes, teary now not only from the smoke. “At least not that I can see? Couldn’t find the fan.”

Arven quickly gets the fan on, opens a window and gets the smoke detector turned off. He also gets the oven and stovetop burners turned off as well, all within a matter of seconds before he’s kneeling at your side.

“Show me your hand and tell me what happened.” He genuinely doesn’t sound angry, just overly concerned.

“I…Fuck!” You yelp as he gingerly moves your hand to get a look at the burn. “It’s bacon grease.” You tell him.

“Got it. Can you stand?” He asks, already moving to your side to help you to your feet. “We wanna get that under some water.”

“Yeah…”

Arven helps you over to the sink and tests the temperature of the water before he lets you run your hand under the stream. It hurts like an absolute bitch, but you’re both aware that this is standard protocol. Still, you can’t help the occasional whimper.

Arven sets to cleaning while you keep the water going.

“So…What was going on down here?” He eventually asks when he finally gets to the charred remains of the potatoes that caused this mess.

How horrible, to be spurned this way by potatoes.

You sniffle pathetically. “I wanted to make you a nice breakfast. I realized you’re always making such nice things for us, and… I hadn’t made you anything good yet. I found the recipe online for potatoes baked in the oven to get all crispy, and I think something went wrong.”

Arven gives you a soft, sweet look. “You know I’m not mad, right? I’m just worried that you could have been hurt worse. How’s the hand?” 

You remove it from the stream and show him. “It’s gonna blister up hideously, but it’ll be fine, I’m sure. I’ve had worse.” You give a pointed look to skeledirge who still hasn’t moved from his corner. “Thanks for the help, by the way.” He yawns. He probably couldn’t have done much as a fire type anyway.

Arven goes on. “Keep it under the water a bit longer. …For what it’s worth, what temperature did the recipe say the potatoes should cook at?”

“I think it said like 400? 450? I can check my phone in a minute. Why?”

“...Was this a Unovan website?”

“I don’t know. Does that make a difference?”

Arven pinches the bridge of his nose, and you can’t tell if he’s trying not to laugh or yell. “Unovans use fahrenheit, not celsius.”

“Fuck me, that would absolutely do it.”

“...How are you the same person who saved the region from destruction?” He asks with a laugh.

“I don’t know!” You whine in reply. “C’mon! Be nice to me! I’m hurt!”

“Aw, I know… I’m sorry. I appreciate the effort though. I really do. Maybe you should stick to pastries or simple grains for breakfast for the next little while though?” He’s still smiling at you with a twinkling eye.

“I was also gonna make you some churros… and orange juice.”

“Together?”

“Is that a problem?”

“Well… They don’t really compliment one another, flavor wise, but…. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with having them together I guess.”

“Well then there you go. Keep being grateful to me.”

Thing is, Arven absolutely does continue being grateful to you. He also spends the next several weeks watching your every move in the kitchen, as well as keeping a watchful eye on your healing burns. He knows you know how to take care of yourself, but it’s nice to let someone in to help from time to time.

"I know," he replied slowly, tucking the bag under his arm and licking his gums thoughtfully, "but it felt like shit knowing you all hang out together every fucking Friday. It's not a new place, but the menu-"

"Absolutely!" he interrupted him and Kacchan looked up as they reached the landing side by side.

His ears were red. A corner of his chip bag was suspiciously black. "This is definitely worth a visit," he repeated, and to relieve Kacchan of some of his tension, he awkwardly raised his overloaded arms: "My elbows still hurt from the day I fell down the stairs."

Red eyes flitted over his fingers and the many bags, "not to mention my back..."

Their eyes met.

"Could you maybe help me?"

Izuku saw that Katsuki took a deep breath. In a way that showed how agitated he actually was. But the moment passed quickly and he lifted enough of Izuku's burden that he could see the stairs at his feet and slowly began to walk down to the common room.

Kacchan followed at a minimal distance, but quickly caught up with him as Izuku threw him a fond, affectionate grin.

Every day felt more and more like… progress. Hope filled him to the tip of his nose and made his heart tingle for the rest of the evening.

i took the day off today!!!! i love not working!!!!

i made myself a kind of affogato for breakfast with vanilla ice cream and pourover coffee and it was. fuckin incredible.

i finished reading under the whispering door by tj klune, and i liked it! i'm really behind in my reading plans for the year but starting to pick up again!

i had really good potato tacos for dinner AND A CHURRO
