This reminds me how my dad always thought that anything with a flat roof was Frank Lloyd Wright (he hated flat roofs, and therefore hated Frank Lloyd Wright very unfairly because of course the flat roofs he hated had nothing to do with Frank Lloyd Wright… But he’d got it in his head!)
He was convinced of this to the point where he argued with me about this nondescript apartment block that I promised him was not Frank Lloyd Wright, and he thought they must be because they had a flat roof and I’m standing there in Oak Park where I lived surrounded by actual Frank Lloyd Wright buildings and just gave up.
I mean sure. Why not?
i feel like we don't appreciate these days how much the twin towers sucked, like, design-wise

they were contemporarily hated for just being these giant grey monoliths
like there probably could've been an easier way to get rid of them, but they probably needed to go either way

Illuminate Yourself with the Truth That Sets You Free from 'Common Sense

Fools are often bound by preconceived notions and prejudices, while the wise understand that what was once regarded as "common sense" may no longer hold true today. They think flexibly, constantly seeking to understand what the truth really is.
Many people live their lives constrained by various forms of "common sense" and "preconceptions."
Through our study of the Word, we have come to realize that much of what people consider "common sense" or "preconceptions" are, in fact, false ideas imprinted by Satan.
This is why the more people hold on to these false ideas of "common sense" and "preconceptions," the more unhappy they become.
However, the Lord has revealed that many, even after studying the Word, continue to live their lives bound by the "common sense" and "prejudices" of the past, or even create new ones for themselves.
The reason God shares His Word so abundantly each day is not to reinforce "common sense" or "prejudices" in us, but to eliminate them entirely.
By doing so, God leads each of us to discover the "truth"—a truth that enables us to live in alignment with His will, free from the constraints of unnecessary "common sense" or false "prejudices."
Only by living according to this truth can we receive God’s blessings and experience a truly fulfilling life.
I sincerely pray that each of you will come to truly understand this profound truth, cast aside all false "common sense" and "preconceptions," always think flexibly, and live in accordance with the revelation of the truth.

C.S. Lewis, Stereotypes & Polarization
Do you think in terms of stereotypes? Be careful before answering, since nary an adult is free of them. (Case in point, you may well have preconceptions or prejudices about a writer who would use the word “nary in an opening sentence.) Stereotyping is common, despite the fact most of us would disavow its use. Most of us would agree with C.S. Lewis who described how stereotypes bar us from…

Restraining Preconceptions
Overcoming preconceptions can be a challenge, but it is an important step in ‘becoming” a more loving, open-minded and tolerant person.
It seems so many at this time are dealing with clouded vision. What should I do? How can that work? What’s the value in that? Who should lead us? Why? However you cannot answer any of these questions if you are not able to allow yourself to see past the walls that either have intentionally been placed in your path, or that you have constructed yourself. What is hindering your view? On this…

What is "Story"?
It is sometimes asked, what is the difference between story and... plot? Or character arc? If you're writing a "story," do you need a "character arc"? What about a theme, or a message?
I have a different take:
Story is what forms in the reader's mind, not simply the words they read.
How does this idea affect our understanding of the interaction between writing and reader?
NOTE: You may have a different term you'd use for this concept. But for the purposes of my explanation, I'm calling this "story."
Before the novel begins, the story has already begun.
This "story" doesn't start with the first word of the author's novel. The context and preconceptions a reader comes to the novel with always affects their experience in reading it. Books and movies they've enjoyed in the past give them a sense of what the next similar book or movie may include.
A reader who sees the cover of a Star Trek novel may have little idea as to what may happen, if they've never heard of Star Trek before. If an Agatha Christie fan picks up a book by Agatha Christie, they'll expect a murder mystery.
So while you shouldn't "judge a book by its cover," you certainly get an idea of what the book might be about!
It's not the cover that draws you to a book... it's the story you imagine might be told by a book with that cover.
The book pictured above does not exist. But I have a strong idea of what genre, and tone the story might have. Maybe your idea is different in some ways, and similar in others. I can even imagine some plot points. And this is all simply based on what I've read and watched before, and how the visual design, reminds me of those things.
The same goes for the title, of course. And the blurb. It's all designed to give a random passerby a vision of what might be inside. This is what's known as "marketing": putting a story in people's heads that they want engage with.
There are other aspects of #story to explore, too.
Next, we'll look at how the story doesn't end with the last word, either: Sequels & Fanfiction...
