Man, this Private Pyle DLC is wack like crack. 8/10.
Tumblr media
Review:
The new Private Pyle DLC for the hit game, "Full Metal Jacket: Fully Loaded." is a neat twist on the infamous scene in the movie where Private Pyle kills Sgt. Hartmann by putting the player in the shoes of Private Pyle and giving Sgt. Hartmann a gun to fight back. If you manage to defeat Sgt. Hartmann, and it's no easy task trust me, you can choose to listen to Joker's plea or kill him and thus going on a rampage across the training base. You can't win in this scenario as the military police eventually kill you, but it's a deep dive into Private Pyle's deteriorating frame of mind. You may dislike how it deviates from the lore, but keep in mind it's meant to be a non-canon interpretation. -2 points for a glitch involving the Jelly Donuts health pack and for only hinting at Joker and Cowboy making out in the closet.
You can buy the game and DLC for PC and consoles for $49.99 USD.

Dear soldier,
Do you have any stories or memories you'd like to share? Also! Do you look any different from your source material?

🪖 Hey. I remember a date night Dell and I had one day. He hung string lights all over the campground and he sung to me while we drank and talked the night away.
I just remembered it today. For those of you that don't know, I'm an amnesiac. So I'm really happy I could remember.

Had a discussion with some friends a while back about the ol’ “replace everyone but one actor with muppets” idea.
So someone suggests Full Metal Jacket, keeping R Lee Ermy (the drill sergeant). And I said no no no.
Keep Vincent D’onofrio.
For those of you who haven’t seen it, spoilers for a 36 year old movie!
Full Metal Jacket is essentially two related short films sharing a few characters, glued together in the middle. The first half of the movie follows US Marine draftees as they go through basic training. The second half follows a couple of those guys as they take sniper fire in Vietnam.
Vincent D’onofrio only appears in the first half. His character, “Private Gomer Pyle” (a derisive nickname applied by the drill sergeant) is the subject of tons of abuse at the hands of said drill sergeant, and, eventually, his fellow draftees.
And at the end of the segment, he has a nervous breakdown, takes a rifle into the bathroom, and when confronted by the drill sergeant, blows him away, then kills himself.
So replacing D’onfrio has 3 main effects here.
1. You get to see private Pyle subject to increasingly brutal psychological and physical abuse, by muppets.
2. You get to see Private Pyle go nuts and kill, in a fit of insanity, a muppet.
3. The entire back half of the film, which is less remembered in pop culture but still a fucking brutal and harrowing story in its own right, is re-enacted entirely by muppets.
Honestly, I don’t think anything in cinema could top that. I think it would make Citizen Kane look like The Room. I need this. I deserve it.

I really admire women who are older than me because they have weathered shit that would make me pull the trigger. Ultimate stoics. They make you realize you're a pussy deep in your soul. I have been sitting in the makeup chair and heard shit that would've made me go completely Private Pyle if that happened to me. What do you mean you lived like Cinderella under an enormously cruel creative director for five years while she belittled you and broke your ego down to nothing, while you tried to gain your qualifications to become a creative director yourself. How do you do that. Oh and you lived with a roommate who you got into physical altercations with nearly every day cause he was always trying to rape you, and you finally got him on a gun charge? What. I would've destroyed my own life girl like not even in a brave way where I go out in a Falling Down esque society punishing blaze of glory- I would've hung myself quietly. And shit man you were eating nothing but discount tinned food on top of this? I'm crying while you're talking. Same goes for the stories my great grandma told. one time her husband stole a gun from the Russians and she had to hide it under potato peel and newspaper in the kitchen, and if she didn't hide it good enough she would've gotten shot with her husband. My mom once had to physically take increasingly more confusing routes to school in the Hokkaido snow, coming down off of a fucking? Mountain, cause her dad's gangster enemies posed a very real threat of kidnapping her. Like how are you guys doing this. Every older woman's story is balls to the wall. In comparison I'm saying shit like "I found a slip of paper that looked like a train ticket so when the guy came down the aisle to confirm we all had tickets, I flashed a yellow strip of paper and he didn't give a fuck and let me stay on" all triumphant with the delusionally smug face of a ferret who thinks squirming their way into an open bag of fucking dog food was a genuine achievement
