I’m not saying I want to watch Full Metal Jacket to see Adam Baldwin sweaty in uniform shooting everything that moves, but I want to watch Full Metal Jacket to see Adam Baldwin sweaty in uniform shooting everything that moves
"Now you may not believe this, but under fire, Animal Mother is one of the finest human beings in the world. He just needs some to throw hand grenades at him the rest of his life."
I'm not an archivist by any stretch, and generally, I just sort of hope that other people are saving media in case it disappears in the future, but somehow I've become the steward of a bunch of local bands' music, at least as far as I can see. I sat down one day and uploaded all of the local music I had to YouTube, and with the death of MySpace Music and sites like PureVolume or even hxcmp3, in a way I've preserved it for the handful of people who still have any interest in it. This is one of those songs.
I'm not sure this is a great mid-2000s hardcore song, but I do know that it was one of my mid-2000s hardcore songs, and that's more important, because I was not really a hardcore kid. The breakdowns, the sing alongs, I liked it, but I was into Death and Obituary for the riffs and the groove, so for this to be one of MY songs speaks to how much it was a part of me at that time.
Animal Mother was a band out of Oil City, PA and I only saw them once, but they played this song, and I thought it ruled, and then we talked about Dystopia after the show, and I thought that ruled, so as a 13 or 14-year-old, that was all I needed. On top of that, just having that "WE ARE THE SWINE" opening call was just too cool.
Eventually, this band morphed into another Band, Massacre Outlined, that will pop up here in the not-too-distant future, and as these things go, they just sort of disappeared. One day, I just googled the band, hoping to find the music, and I stumbled on a blogspot that the singer of this band contributed to, and he had posted this record and the Massacre Outlined record. I cannot find that blog, so those files are gone, except for me uploading them, so enjoy this track, because I'm somewhat proud of being the person who has preserved it.
