Amid anger and protest over the Trump administration’s plan to deport millions of immigrants, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement plans to monitor and locate “negative” social media discussion about the agency and its top officials, according to contract documents reviewed by The Intercept. Citing an increase in threats to ICE agents and leadership, the agency is soliciting pitches from private companies to monitor threats across the internet — with a special focus on social media. People who simply criticize ICE online could pulled into the dragnet.

If this scanning uncovers anything the agency deems suspicious, ICE is asking its contractors to drill down into the background of social media users. That includes: “Previous social media activity which would indicate any additional threats to ICE; 2). Information which would indicate the individual(s) and/or the organization(s) making threats have a proclivity for violence; and 3). Information indicating a potential for carrying out a threat (such as postings depicting weapons, acts of violence, refences to acts of violence, to include empathy or affiliation with a group which has violent tendencies; references to violent acts; affections with violent acts; eluding [sic] to violent acts.”

Once flagged, the system will further scour a target’s internet history and attempt to reveal their real-world position and offline identity. In addition to compiling personal information — such as the Social Security numbers and addresses of those whose posts are flagged — the contractor will also provide ICE with a “photograph, partial legal name, partial date of birth, possible city, possible work affiliations, possible school or university affiliation, and any identified possible family members or associates.” The document also requests “Facial Recognition capabilities that could take a photograph of a subject and search the internet to find all relevant information associated with the subject.” The contract contains specific directions for targets found in other countries, implying the program would scan the domestic speech of American citizens.

The posting indicates that ICE isn’t merely looking to detect direct threats of violence, but also online criticism of the agency. As part of its mission to protect ICE with “proactive threat monitoring,” the winning contractor will not simply flag threatening remarks but “Provide monitoring and analysis of behavioral and social media sentiment (i.e. positive, neutral, and negative).” This includes regular updates on the “total number of negative references to ICE found in social media” from week to week. Such sentiment analysis — typically accomplished via machine-learning techniques — could place under law enforcement scrutiny speech that is constitutionally protected. Simply stated, a post that is critical or even hostile to ICE isn’t against the law.

Oh, I thought of that too. You know the character called Lynx? She's faced against Tim before, but if you look at the Red Robin runs they have an...interesting dynamic. Kinda like Batman and Catwoman 2.0, except Lynx is more proactive. Look it up if you don't know her yet👀

That's basically how the dynamic between Tim and Catgirl would be (she hates that name but I'm afraid it fits her too well lol), except Catgirl doesn't really like to be chased. Not like her mentor or Lynx does. She takes her heists very seriously, she's a huge perfectionist, and last thing she needs is an annoyingly persistent detective distracting her by trying to catch her.

Catgirl is only in it to learn from Selina, and improve her stealth and thievery skills until she's confident enough to go solo, because as brilliant of a hacker she is, there are places she can't reach through hacking alone. She has to sneak in and handle things manually sometimes, and she needs to move like a cat burglar to do it. And well, if she does actually steal some stuff here and there, only Catwoman is witness and she's no snitch.

Plus, since she's actively separating herself from the Batfamily as a whole, having the most brilliant member interested in her is a headache. She's trying really hard to keep her civilian identity as the clueless, spoiled rich daughter of Bruce Wayne that knows nothing of their world. But if she lets Tim Drake out of all people get close enough to Catgirl, how long until he guesses it? Until he begins to pay attention to her outside the suit too and notices the similarities, the mannerisms? The coincidences? She knows how he is when it comes to solving enigmas. Batman himself said Tim was a better detective than him. Catgirl is paranoid to say the least. She despises him. No matter how witty he is, how stimulating their arguments/fights are, how he's so damn intelligent that he's a threat but also can keep up with her in conversations, the smugness that he hardly conceals when he overpowers her (and how stupidly hot he looks in those moments)

Meanwhile, Red Robin treats her like a particularly tricky case. Catwoman doesn't take sidekicks, she works alone, everyone knows that. So who's Catgirl? Why did Selina take her in? What's her purpose? What's her ultimate goal? And why is he enjoying their encounters more than he should? Why doesn't he pull apart when she kisses him? The more she dodges him, the more determined he is to get her. He has ended with a few scars from her claws when she had enough of his presence, but those only increase his interest. How far can he push her? How long until she takes a wrong step and falls into his hands? He hates to admit he's a bit of eager for that to happen...because he's not entirely sure he wants to arrest her afterwards.

So, in short, Catgirl and Red Robin's dynamic is basically a cat-and-mouse game, except the roles are reversed because it feels like he's the cat more often than not. They're Batman and Catwoman second generation, except Catgirl refuses to admit they have that kind of tension and avoids him, while Red Robin wants to catch the kitty and maybe put a collar on her.

Fantastic Beasts rewrite

I recently finished rewatching the third movie and I really really want to rant, but I don't like to be that person. So I'll do you one better, I'll just throw suggestions as to how this series could have been better. feel free to disagree or add your own.

Plot!

Magical animals still have many uses within the magical world, but no rights because we're in the 1920's. Show us how they're trafficked and exploited. Therefore, Newt could keep the spotlight as someone who wants to protect them as the series continues, and not have Dumbledore be protagonist, because he doesn't make for a compelling one all that much.

We already saw how the Quilin detects those who are pure of heart and determines the leader of the magical world. How about the Quilins are disposed of afterwards, for, I don't know, reasons. Superstition or custom. Maybe they make a new pelt for the leader. So Newt has to fight against that, and therefore he becomes more proactive.

Also the blood troth needs to be broken. That should have taken longer. How about only a specific very rare dragon's fire could burn it?? and therefore we use more of Newt's knowledge here??

2. Personal stakes. Unfortunately, there was no conflict between the heroes and the villains. Meaning, if Grindelwald did succeed in conquering the muggle world, none of the MCs would be personally affected. (not even Jacob, he could hide somewhere and he'd be fine, it's not like Grindelwald would look for him specifically). So, here's the deal:

because this is a fantastic beasts series, Newt remains the protagonist. So how about Grindelwald targets a specific magical creature, eg the aforementioned dragon, who is believed to not even be real? But Grindelwald has info that it is in fact real. Therefore he targets Newt, the only magizoologist, and the only one capable and determined enough to find it. He plans on striking Newt with all means necessary, have him running for his life from all governments. Framing him and targeting his animals just to get what he wants.

Also. Grindelwald wants Credence by his side, because of his Obscurial powers (which were hyped up in the first movie but then kinda deflated, unfortunately). It's easy to manipulate Credence, who's never had anyone care for him ever.

except Tina. Tina is canonically the one who Credence felt trust for. They could've become found family and I'll forever be angry about their wasted potential.

How about Grindelwald is aware that Tina is the one who could foil his plans and keep Credence on the good side due to their relationship, so he targets her specifically? He wants her out of the picture in order to manipulate Credence as much as he wants. He wants to kill her.

Tina fights him to save Credence and Newt fights him to save Credence and the animals.

Here! Grindelwald now has personal conflict with the main characters.

More conflict? Sure!

At the end of the third installment, instead of picking Dumbledore the Quilin picks Jacob, who is said throughout the whole movie to be pure of heart. (Let's say its powers work a little differently and it doesn't care whether it's a muggle it's picking because who ever tested it on muggles in the first place anyway?) How about it picks him, and as Grindelwald hates muggles, he now hates Jacob with a searing passion because the Quilin picked him as a ruler of the wizards? (exactly what he's against, mixing wizards and muggles). How about Grindelwald harbours animosity towards Jacob, not because he's a threat but because he symbolises what could beat Grindelwald? (a kind heart, one that both a wizard and a muggle could possess. and due to that common potential for goodness, which highlights that they aren't so different than the muggles, he gets even more passionate in his goal to eradicate them? just saying)

and let's have Queenie move to Grindelwald's side, that's interesting. Maybe they strike a deal when Tina is in grave danger (because as we said, Tina must die for Grindelwald to win). If Queenie joins him, Tina is safe, Grindelwald tells her (he's lying, but Queenie is desperate).

So Queenie has to choose between being with the man she loves and joining the wrong side of history (and possibly dying a monster), but saving her sister in the process.

She chooses the second.

the angst?? Queenie knowing she's doing the wrong thing but it's for the right reasons so now no one can convince her to return to the good side?? Not Tina, not Jacob, not anyone

Maybe she even becomes a spy, leaking Grindelwald's plans and putting herself in danger in the process.

And she tries to convince Credence to go back to the good side even if it's too late for her.

3. For the secondary characters:

Theseus still has power within the British Auror Office. He wants to use that power and counterattack, but for entirely selfish reasons. He hates Grindelwald for Leta's death and puts his own emotions before sensibility and the greater good.

Yusuf was never close with Leta and now he regrets it. He and Theseus both learn to heal together eventually, and Kama gets character development in the process because he felt rather flat.

I want Lally to be there too because I liked her. Maybe Theseus starts to catch feelings for her (am I delusional or did I sense some connection between them? idk) and he feels guilty, because he doesn't want to heal and move on from Leta. He wants to fuel his hatred for Grindelwald because he believes that that is what gives him the will and strength to fight. But eventually he realises that he won't beat him with hate, because Grindelwald is already perfect at hating others. He will beat him with love. (Cheesy but true). Any love. Between the brothers Scamander or the sisters Goldstein or the found family Tina - Credence or Newtina because I love them.

But Lally can do whatever she wants.

Honestly, that sounds pretty rad. I'd watch that movie.

Warrior -  fought and struggled for half his lifetime in the hellish Iblis future, constantly fighting against Iblis, monsters and putting out disasters including Flame Tornadoes for most of his life to bring peace to the world. Shadow describes him as a Fighter in Team Sonic Racing. Enjoys Fighting and can be quick to start fights(Fights almost everyone for both in Rivals 1+2 and Infinite in Forces, almost fights Blaze in Colors DS and Otherworld Comedy and Bowser Jr and Jet in the Olympic Games). Extremely Brave(No regard for his own safety, Instant fight response when surprised in Sonic Generations, fought Iblis monsters since he was Cream’s age). Values bravery and dislikes cowardice/cowardly tactics(Rivals 1+2, Colors DS, Team Vector interview). Has high aggression, determined expressions and aggressive body Language during anything he's focused on. Often makes fists, punches things when he’s frustrated and gets up with his fists in Sonic Forces. Due to his backstory he is deeply appreciative of peace and prosperity but also has a violent personality.

Focused - Is Focused on saving the Future(06 design docs). Very serious and focused when it comes to his mission or dealing with potential danger. Very proactive in dealing with things as he was the only one actively trying to defeat Iblis and change the world(06) and the only one trying to find the truth of Dodon Pa and Eggman(TSR). Has a Straight-To-The-Point mindset(doesn't care what the plan is called, only that it works in Forces) and doesn’t like things getting in his way. Very goal focused(even during competitions, he says the Jade Wisp Ghost ability is the only item he likes because it lets him disappear and focus on racing(Team Vector interview)). Takes things much more seriously than Sonic and sometimes gets mad at Sonic for not taking things seriously or messing around(JP TSR, PlayStation Comic). Has pointed angular eyes like Sonic’s other rivals which represent intensity, danger and seriousness in character design.

Can be Ruthless - “sometimes calls forth great power without mercy”(Sonic x Silver). Has fought dirty(Played possum to hit Sonic in 06), tried to assassinate Sonic, snuck past Soleanna guards. Mugs Tails in Sonic Rivals 2, has no qualms with fighting small children like Tails or Bowser Jr. Leaves his enemies to die even if they beg for life. Has the pragmatic “get-it-done” mindset of Future Trunks/will do whatever it takes to save the future.

Intuitive - Solves problems by using his mind in all his major game roles including figuring out how to revive Sonic(06), being a detective(Town Mission 13), uncovering Eggman/Nega’s plots(Rivals 1+2, TSR) and solving various puzzles. Very perceptive(Sees through Eggman Nega’s disguises by noticing small details), turns his fight with Sonic into a race to collect Chao to advance his mission(Crafty). Intuits Blaze trying to control great power when seeing it for the first time(Otherworld Comedy). Not trusting(Didn’t initially believe in time travel, Immediately suspicious of Dodon Pa in TSR, questioned Mephiles’ mission even as Blaze reaffirmed it as their only option, takes time to work with others in the Rivals series).

Challenger - Enjoys challenges and seeks out ways to test himself(Climbed Tokyo Tower, disappointed when Orbot and Cubot don’t pose a challenge). Very Competitive(Almost fights Blaze when they start one-upping each other over who could deal with Orbot and Cubot on their own in Colors DS). Self-confident and has a smug attitude about his abilities but is otherwise pretty humble. Cherishes his friends and strongly believes in/very grateful to those who help him. Regularly trains off screen like Sonic’s other rivals and said to make Steady efforts to improve(Wallpaper Comedy). Bold and undeterred by any threat(“We can take them all on!” when facing Eggman, Knuckles and Rouge in Rivals 2, “I’ll just destroy him everywhere at once” when facing Solaris)

Curiosity - Has a certain curiosity and likes seeing new and different things(“Interesting”).Can praise or call things cool as much as he insults others. Might have a weakness for cute things(Has a soft spot for/plays with Chao in Sonic Rivals 2 and an official PlayStation Magazine comic). 

Skills - Powerful psychic with various super powers(Sonic Runners). Like Sonic’s other rivals he has various skills including car racing, acrobatics, fighting near the level of Shadow, sharp shooting among the best in Soleanna’s 1500 year history. Has been a detective, delivery boy, butler, top ranked ice skater and “genius” skating coach celebrity(He takes offense to being treated like an amateur for a reason). Fly/Skill-type character so he specializes in more technical sports like ice skating and drives a car with high balance(TSR, Team Vector Interview).

Polar Opposite of Eggman Nega(Blaze’s best friend, Pure, Young, Honest, Rude, Empathetic, Impulsive/Reckless, Naive, Practical/Focused, Altruistic, desiring Peace and Happiness and willing to die to protect the world opposed to Eggman Nega being Blaze’s arch enemy, Twisted, Old, Deceitful, Polite, Psychopathic, Calculating, Sophisticated, Petty, Egoistic, desiring Chaos and Destruction and willing to die to destroy the world)

Enhancer-Emitter - Enhancer being someone that is determined and simple, never lies, hides almost nothing, is straightforward in actions and thinking, whose words and actions are often dominated by their feelings and is very focused on their goals. Emitter being someone that is impatient, not detail-oriented and quick to react in a volatile manner but can also calm down and forget easier

Lives in the good future when not helping Sonic in the present the same way Blaze lives in her dimension. Thinks things in Sonic’s time are dated (sometimes, in Sonic Rivals and Colors DS) Often implied/shown to like apples(Ate apple flavored calorie bars in the Iblis Future according to Sonic Pict) and live in Soleanna(He was originally going to be named Venice because he lived there, he may be Italian coded as his counterpart Galahad uses an Italian dagger as a sword).

So I know I've been obsessing over Sarah and Belphegor because their whole thing is like, fucking insane, but I really need to give some love to Commissioner Menardier

When he starts off he seems to fall into the 'bumbling detective' architype but it starts to become clear that that's not the case, and looking back a lot of the goofy things he did do are actually relatively practical or at most just quirks.

Like its a pretty funny scene when he puts on his daughters too small pink cloak to protect from bees when walking into an aviary, but also, their are very much weaponized bees in that aviary that can render a person unconscious for hours. He didn't know this but he did know something fishy was going on, and used what materials he had at his disposal, even if it looked goofy.

Another scene early on that looks goofy is him being very cross about the fact that his gold teeth fillings were literally dissolved in his mouth (He was fine) Now anyone reading this would be like 'wtf thats a perfectly normal thing to get upset about' YOU WOULD BE RIGHT! That IS a perfectly logical thing to get upset about. His complaints were literally 'how am I going to explain this to my dentist' which makes complete sense! Like how DO you explain "Yeah I was hit by an anti-gold gun that dissolved my fillings"

Jacques even laughs and says he thought the commissioner was not that vain, probably in reference to the teeth being gold. Thing is he's quite old and gold has a history of being used for fillings. It was likely a practical material choice at the time and nothing more.

But I want to touch on that line specifically (This was a translation so it may not be the exact words used in French but I am still confident enough in the context to say that is what he meant) Because it lands on a very interesting part of his personality

He is not vain, which is why he does a few goofy things like this, he's not worries about his image or looking a little silly for the sake of being practical.

He's also quite competent all things consider. Usually in shows like this people will say things like "Oh the detectives/police/whatever aren't bumbling fools they're just dealing with the worlds greatest thief!" but usually it doesn't work because you can tell they genuinely are kinda bumbling fools who don't think things through

But for Commissioner Menardier that seems true. He's great at thinking on the fly, at taking in unexpected information and not freezing up or fumbling. In episode 2 when Jacques unexpectedly became mind controlled he uses the situation and manages to very quickly set up a trap that actually takes Belphegor off guard. In episode 13 or 14 he's actually very proactive in trying to catch Belphegor and setting a trap, to the point that it manages to piss him him off.

He can also make hard decisions quickly, like episode 24 when it was between taking in Sarah or Belphegor he chose Sarah; this seems like its a personal choice to protect a friend of his, but its actually the oppisite and a completely accurate assessment of threats; Belphegor is Belphegor and taking him down now is really the only chance they'll reasonable get; he doesn't have his magic ring so he won't be able get away like he always does and taking him in would be HUGE

But Sarah is the one with the ring and it has turned her unpredictable and destructive who has hurt people and is only getting stronger; for the safety of everyone she needs to be taken in now.

The relationship between him and Sarah is also amazing; a huge thing in shows like this that is both frustrating and also makes them seem so much dumber is the fact that they never believe the protagonists no matter how much proof their is

Commissioner Menardier is the exact opposite and believes Sarah no matter how little evidence he has

Even when he had to arrest her in episode two (Which was before they were are that magic and brainwashing was a thing that could be done) he was even like "I don't believe its you but I have to act on the evidence I had" Which in his defense was pretty damning AND he was completely right on, she was just being mind controlled in her sleep

Then in episode eight where she's like "Belphagor can walk through paintings and is going to use this to rob the museum" Menardier doesn't seem to believe her because yeah it's a hard sell, but he still acts on the information, sets a traps and SEES someone walk through the painting

After that? Zero doubt whatsoever. She says its gonna happen and he's acting on that information. He even believes mind-broken future Sarah, which I don't know if he knew it was her or not (She wore a doll mask over her face) but I'm counting it regardless

Even beyond that their relationship itself is really sweet and genuine, to the point where Tropetalks even claims that she's his daughter

This is not true, but watching the show you can understand the confusion. Not only do they genuinely like each other and will enjoy spending their free time together, visiting and going out places, but he's also very gentle with and protective over her

He literally managed to pull himself out of a ptsd flashback (Which was purposefully caused by Belphegor) to save her life

I genuinely love this character and he's so sweet, he deserves more love

Combat Application Test of Weapon Systems of Multi-mission Destroyer Choe Hyon Begins

Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- The combat application test of the weapon systems of the multi-mission destroyer Choe Hyon began.

The DPRK Missile Administration, the Academy of Defence Sciences and the Detection and Electronic Warfare Administration launched a performance and combat application test of the weapon systems mounted on the destroyer Choe Hyon.

The first test of the weapon systems of the destroyer was conducted on April 28 and 29.
