reading nona the ninth by audiobook, not in my mother language, and when you have audioprocessing issues is certainly a decision. but consider: it can be really funny as well

Just want to leave a heads up for anybody that's been in conversation with me.. sometimes I might drop off for a day or two but don't worry.
I researched a lot of different topics at the same time and once in awhile I will actually just get a little overloaded and have to take time to process information.
I'm also trying to improve on my YouTube channel and trying to come up with better ideas or hone in on things that people like. To do this sometimes I have to step aside and think. When I do this I don't usually talk as much I don't even watch videos other than maybe some music.
This is normal and I promise that I will be back like I normally am and it's not like depression. I just get busy and lost in my head.

oh i just had SUCH a realization about the way i process information
so, some context: when i watch any sort of content (shows, videos, movies, etc), i talk about them. there are quite few people who will watch things with me, because i am the Annoying Person Who Commentates And Asks Questions. it helps me pay attention, it's automatic, and i genuinely cannot focus/process the show nearly as well if i'm not doing it
second context: i recently realized that i am much more productive on and understand schoolwork MUCH better if i'm... basically, complaining about it. i'll talk as i'm doing it, mostly about the information, or things relating to it
the realization i've just come to: i process information, at a baseline, by repeating it back and actively interacting with it, not just consuming it. this may seem obvious or like an easy realization, but this did not occur to me until just now
i wonder if i can use this to my advantage, keeping it in mind with school and media i consume

Still not over the head of cardiology, who said she wouldn't formally diagnose me with dysautonomia because she didn't want me to think of myself as disabled.
As if good vibes and a can-do attitude can stabalize autonomic dysfunction.

Sooo besides espilver (and I'm assuming sonucks), what sonic ships do you like?
I'm not that big of a shipper, tbh! But you're right, I find sonknux very fun in a "theyre both so stupid" kinda way. I have some doodles about them loaded up in my drafts, so you'll be seein' that sometime soon!
Other than that, I've been REALLY loving sonighty lately. Something about the childhood friends that reconnect years later trope ruins be every time i see it. They have such an underrated dynamic imo :')

It really dawned on me watching episode 17, just how important this sequence of events is to Kabru and Laios' relationship, and how. Well. That's for a different post. I want to keep this one free of spoilers. (Certified Safe For Anime Only™)(There are spoilers for episode 17, tho. Obviously.)
Kabru's main concern has been, at least in part, revealed. He wants to figure out if Laios is capable of defeating the dungeon, and, if so, if Laios can be trusted with the power that might confer. The answer to his first question is simple. Yes. If anyone can defeat the dungeon, it's Laios.
The second question is where things get interesting. Can Laios be trusted with power?
In the aftermath of Laios' first fight with Toshiro, Kabru learns that while Laios has no particular respect for the law or conventional wisdom, he does have the humility to consider that his judgment might be flawed if he encounters conflict with someone he respects.
Tumblr media
That is the face of a man taking notes, and I think he's making a cautious mark in Laios' favor. Laios doesn't really understand Toshiro's opinion, but he's listening.
Then, in the fight with the Falin-Dragon chimera, Kabru voices dissent—disgust, even—with Laios and Marcille's priorities.
Tumblr media
You can practically see the Dragon Age style approval rating drop. Kabru disapproves. Minus fifteen hearts. If it had ended like this, I think Kabru would have lost all interest in Laios. Someone who would sacrifice a dozen lives out of sentiment can't be trusted.
Laios' response, and the way it builds on Kabru's earlier observation, is crucial.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He listened. And even better, he didn't listen blindly. He applied critical thought to Kabru's argument. What Kabru hears from him isn't just "I'm sorry, you were right," but also, "I understand and respect your position and priorities, and here's a very good argument for why killing what I still consider to be my sister is not in our best interest."
He processed Kabru's criticism and came to his own conclusions, and he did it fast. Not only that, but he's right. Kabru hadn't considered the potential consequences of killing the chimera.
Laios proved in this one exchange that he 1) isn't blinded by either his pride or his prejudice, 2) has the strength of character to not just fall back and surrender to someone else's judgment when he's uncertain, and 3) is smart enough to tactically outhink Kabru.
This is why Kabru is so invested in Laios liking him that he forces himself to eat the harpy omlette. This is why Kabru takes Laios' hand and makes sure he knows he wants to see him again. He doesn't understand Laios, and he still has strong reservations about him. Laios' interest in monsters scares him. But Laios has proved to Kabru that he might be capable of being the person Kabru needs him to be.

today I did not pay any attention at a lecture and still asked a question that people found "very insightful" and that's because I spent my academic career having to work hard on my bullshitting instead of getting a plagiarism machine to do it for me

Loki and the Deeply Valid Fear of Being a Government-Issued Android Without Knowing It
Imagine living for over a thousand years, committing intergalactic crimes, then one random underpaid TVA clerk with a monotone voice suddenly introduces the possibility that, oh, by the way, what if you were secretly a robot this whole time? And Loki, who has always carried himself with the absolute certainty of a god, pauses. Like. “Wait. What if I am?”
He hears that question and immediately does a full mental diagnostic. Have I ever glitched? Ever felt oddly mechanical? Experienced an unusual fondness for oil? Maybe he’s too good at lying. Too good at surviving. What if that’s just the programming?
The TVA worker just moves on. He doesn’t elaborate. no reassurances. theres no safety net. Just the terrifying possibility that he might get instantly vaporized for something completely outside his control.
Id like to note, his hesitation isn’t even just some random existential crisis, it’s trauma-informed. This man already lived through the experience of waking up one day and realizing he wasn’t who he thought he was.
He grew up thinking he was a prince, a god, Odin’s rightful son, only to find out he was actually a stolen relic of war. A Jotun. A creature he’d been taught to hate.
He thought he knew himself before, and he was wrong. What if he’s wrong again? What if theres something else about himself thats been hidden? If he didn’t realize he was a Frost Giant, whats stopping him from not realizing he’s actually some highly advanced synthetic being?
It’s not just a funny existential gag, it’s a callback to one of the most devastating truths of Loki’s existence:
He has never really known who he is.
It’s the muscle memory of having his entire identity ripped out from under him. It’s the learned fear of asking, What am I, actually?
Because the last time he asked that question, the answer ruined him.

heart weapons retrieval. same method as soul (and mind), different location. his hammer is stored in his chest/guts. out of the three, he has the easiest time getting his weapon when he needs it. as a result, hes the only one of the three to actually store his weapon within his body most of the time; both soul and mind keep theirs out and held on their body externally.
while it is easier for him, the process tends to make heart feel extremely nauseous. sometimes he throws up. usually, he manages to choke it down.

wip land + misc sketches to fill the gaps
it's kind of embarrassing seeing the illustration bases laid out like this how much i like rehashing explored mirror/blackwhite/identity motifs lMAO... there's a few more wips that would make the whole thing more incriminating but didn't make it in here bc of format or just space...
that said i think my priority is going to be the violin one because i love a bowed instrument and also i love hands

The Creative Cycle
One of the most helpful and life-changing pieces of artistic advice I've ever seen has been Emily Cheeseman (@emcheeseman)'s Notes on Creativity as a Cycle. The original graphic might be difficult for some to read, so I remade it digitally and added an alt text description.
