What DID Bad Episodes Looks Like Without Explicit Switching Or Blackout (at Least for Us)
TW: Rant on unproffessional "proffesionals", local media sticks to stereotype
I don't think I should call this a "typical" thing for DID/OSDD, as I can't really represent the others and obviously I did not do any official research for this. Though for some reason, the local cases I've seen on interviews or columns, always say something along the line of "I worry about my alter doing blah blah without me knowing/controling."
For us, at least I don't think we have any significant amnesia in daily life or our past. And the problem is more like CPTSD (emotional flashbacks) + alters going chaotic. We have bad emotions and feel like doing shits or not feel like doing shits. Alters keep trying to do whatever they want, or resisting some alters trying to do shits, and make the body so disabled, the mental state really painful
We could be blurry. We don't always know who we are. And in fact we do not know many names for our alters, and that adds difficulties to identity one to another as we don't even have a label to start trying to conclude things. Many DID/OSDD system I see here experiences feeling blurry. But not a single local interview mentions about it iirc (what a pharse for DID systems, eh?).
<Heavy Rant Below>
Sure, of course 6% is as valid as 14% or 80%. But you know what? Even the consultation psy doctors know next to NOTHING about how 94% suffers without the stereotype of overt switching and blackouts. In the current local medical system, people have to be somewhat good at English to be a doctor. Do we look like we're super good at English comparing to those doctors? There are lots of public resources in English that even I could digest. Can you not read and learn stuff at least when you PROFFESIONALS are invited to an interview about it??? Hello????

More rambling about my personal life and self discovery lol, ignore it if you want
i just wrote 6 pages (for no reason) on why i think i could possibly be autistic, with examples of childhood moments as well as things that happened this year and like... i still want a professional to diagnose me but i don't think i need it... I'm like 90% sure I am... :/
I'm still saving some money to go to therapy but it's honestly so that poeple (by "people" i mean my mom) believe me, more than to be sure myself.
Forgot to mention I took the raads test again, after a week of research and thinking about my childhood... The first time I took it I answered mostly "true now only" and I got a score of 127... The second time I did it, I was able to truthfully answer "true now and when i was young" on more questions, and I got a score of 164...
I am also terrified that whoever i go see won't believe me, and will say I'm not autistic, cause now I'm like sure enough to fight people on it, but like it's going to be impossible to convince my mother of it if I have a proffesional tell me I'm not... And I'm also pretty terrified that they're going to need to talk to her to diagnose me, and she's going to like water down every answer. Not necessarily because she wants to boycott my diagnosis, but because I've masked heavily even to her so like... she doesn't know that when I have what I believe are meltdowns I sometimes pull my hair, hit my head or stab my nails into my hand... and I've done that as a kid too (if I'm remembering correctly), but she doesn't know that, and I don't really want her to know that... so I'm scared kjdfhkdfg
I don't know why I'm scared now, I don't have enough money yet and I haven't even reached out to a therapist yet, idk when that will happen, but I'm obsessing over this now so I'm getting anxious about it now lol I think tomorrow I'm going to consult prices (if I can text them, if I have to make a phone call I won't, can't do that, nope, no thanks)
Anyways, long ass rant over, it's past 1 am and I have stuff to do tomorrow, I'm going to bed.

Did you see that Simplicity has made some Six the Musical inspired costume patterns? I saw it on a facebook group!
Yes I saw it. And it is bad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(@/lochnessofficial on tiktok)
This is not me saying don't buy these, if you want them as a base or for a halloween costume go for it. This sort of thing is great for people with no sewing experience who want to make six costumes, and there is enough information online to level them up for a nice look. Just don't expect the result to look like a stage costume. Also read from someone who has used patterns from this line that the plus size patterns are not necessarily good.
First lets get something out of the way. Those patterns are not official. This means simplicity just took show photos and "recreated" very basic versions of what they saw. All this with no permission.
Second. I can't speak for the quality of the patterns, only from what I see in the covers. Simplicity is one of the bigger pattern brands and they have a reputation for creating quality commercial patterns. This means the patterns are made for home sewists who know how to read and follow patterns and have a certain skill level. So basically anyone who is past the begginer stage and can operate a sewing machine. But commercial patterns are not proffesional costume patterns or historical patterns. So even if visually they look like six and would work well for halloween costumes that would see a few wears, they are not great for cosplay that aims for any degree of show accuracy and are probably very different from the show patterns. So even if you add all the necessary layers it probably won't look right. (If it is a base for a first mockup you could have good results after a few rounds of alterations).
As six costumes I just don't trust these, even the ones that look half decent (Aragon top minus the sleeves and Boleyn skirt) have big issues only from the photos. The six patterns are notoriously complicated. In the US six uses a single costume workshop that has makers specialized in a single queen, UK keeps going back to the same makers who are again specialized in one or two queens. The costume makers are editing and improving the patterns to this day, these almost definitely didn't consult them. And I haven't seen a single six cosplayer (myself included) who doesn't want to change at least one fit detail, or changed already. Take a guess as to how someone who has never worked with six or done extensive research will do when creating a pattern. And this isn't against the pattern makers, this is just outside of the things they usually work with.
Now just for fun my quick review of what can be seen. Looks like most are bases with details sewn on top, and it looks like its all fabric, no vinyl, no structure and a lot of spandex. Aragon, collar is too wide, missing front side panel, no shoulder straps, lets not even mention the sleeves, peplum is too narrow and I am not sure it would even fit the skirt underneath, skirt is again super narrow, panels nowhere to be seen. Boleyn, darts instead of princess seams, top is square not fitted, I am 90% sure there is no undersleeve, skirt is not structured, even hem, not sure it flattens to a full circle, the squares definitely don't work like that, looks like squares might be painted?. Cleves, (tell me you referenced Esme without telling me you referenced Esme) looks like the boleyn top with a zipper and no darts, super short, shorts look like regular spandex shorts with the side panels just sewn to the waistband and falling over it. Parr, its just mesh with two bands sewn on top, sleeves are too long and bands are too thin, has a choker for reasons, pants are way too short and look like basic black pants with blue sewn on top. Also you have to love the Boleyn/Parr look switch and the silver Cleves with ponytail and teal Parr.

What it’s like having OCD:
It’s not always what people think, it can show in more severe ways than people realize. OCD is said to be common, having 200,000 cases in the US alone per year- but not so commonly seen when severe. Many people have symptoms of OCD but the range of severity is controversial.
For me, OCD is: checking doors multiple times per night during a short period of time to make sure they are locked, walking into the kitchen and back to my room without getting anything multiple times per hour, constantly fidgeting due to nervousness, rechecking simple math up to five times per problem, counting ritualistically during anxiety/panic attacks and making repeated hand movements, always checking for exits wherever I am, constant sanitizing of hands, repeating intrusive thoughts, ritualistic behavior with eating and other things, being set off by certain sounds, fearing things having to die with germs, bacteria, ect., working within certain numbers I find better/lucky, constant worry of health, fear of stigma and how people will react to me, collecting things I don’t need (then throwing them away a week later when suddenly cleaning)... there are so many aspects to ocd and everyone is different, I feel everyone has some ‘ocd’ but more severe cases are not as common. I happen to have a severe case- I actually developed vocal tics due to anxiety caused by ocd and other anxiety factors. OCD is not always so severe but nonetheless should be taken seriously. People with OCD do sometimes take their life, some people obsess over death or obsess so much that they feel it ruins their life. OCD is not something to be joked about or made fun of, and if you are afraid or worried that you have OCD you should consult a professional.
