So a fun little thing, I started crocheting a Creeper plushie :D

I've completely forgotten to take any progress pictures up until this point (oops), but this is what I've got so far! The Creeper's going to have a chest cavity with some blocks of TNT that can be removed, and I decided to make those first so that I could build the rest of the creeper around them. Also, I put rattles in the TNT :]

Winter break 2024/25 crafting roundup!

As usual, I went back to my hometown over Christmas/New Years and almost immediately pulled out my nicer sewing machine that, up until now, has lived at my parents' place (I'm taking it as my carryon for my flight home, or at least I'll make the attempt. Hopefully CATSA is working on the same info as the airline rep I talked to and will agree that sewing machines can be carried on) (yes the TSA explicitly says online that they're allowed, but Canadian rules are slightly different and CATSA doesn't specify online (or offer a number I can phone and ask).

A totebag and 2 pairs of pj pants, made over about 2 days (the fabric store was having a sale, I had fun, and will be giving people star-wars themed sewn objects for the next decade)

Badge Blanket!

I also made a little progress on my long-neglected badge blanket. I was in Girl Guides from ages 5 to 19, and this blanket currently covers the last 5 or so years of that, but will eventually get badges from earlier, once I've caught up. On the left (blurred out for privacy) are badges I earned or got for myself in some way - trips, camps, activities, crests for districts I've been a part of, etc. In the middle is my brownie scarf from the unit I was in in Denmark. Eventually, I'll add my Canadian Rangers scarf mirroring it on the bottom. On the right are traders - badges I've gotten from people I've met through guiding. Finally, the bottom row that I've folded up to show are historical badges - most are from my mum's brownie and guide days, but the beaver one and the instructor tag below it were my great-aunt's (they're not guiding badges, but she was in guiding as a kid, so I'm counting it).

And finally a sweater! The pattern is Critical Knits by Tsuki Mountain Fibres. In the airport two weeks ago, I was just finishing the yoke, so this is amazingly fast for me. Got a lot done while verbally rewriting the star wars sequels with my friend 😂. I might even finish it in time to wear it this winter.

Hey!! This is a repost from my threads account, but this is me personally, the same Wylan you’ve always known, but I need y’all’s help!

I’m going to be working on a slightly different project (the passion in me is calling) so I need your guys help to find musical theater folk. I’m looking for Lyricists and Composers. Because, that’s right, I’m working on a musical (but keep it on the low, I don’t want the passion or the energy to run out on this one). I’ve had a very hard time trying to figure out what I’m doing, and as a way of showing my frustration with the world and with a lot of other things I’m making a musical. I don’t know if it’ll be good, but I know I have to tell this story.

While I’m definitely more of a screenwriter I know I can do this with the proper help and the proper team, so if you can do your part and share this that would be amazing, because I know I have to tell this fucking story, one way or another. I think I have a project that’s worth “reaping.”

Anywho, I’ll get off my soapbox, I just hope you can help, so Algorithm, and my bestest buddies, let’s try and get this story out there.

Hallo World. Here again to make another post:

Okay so house has had no internet for the past few days (TLDR; Xfinity sucks). Nevertheless, I have a final creative project due on Sunday for my Shamanism and Witchcraft course.

Pretty much I am presenting Philippine Shamanism, Babaylan, through Minecraft. How will it turn out? Only future me knows, but here’s my office as one of the sets for the video and I got a few more sets to design and build in game! So we’ll see how it goes from here!

Tin Town is an independent multimedia art project created for digital platforms; a thematic collection of art, literature, comics, and music, among other things!

Every addition tells the story of four characters in an industrial yet decaying future, threatened by an imminent catastrophe!

They must embark on a mission to save the world and, most importantly, break free from their old lives in the name of adventure!

What can we say? It's just another story about a group of friends saving the world!

Now, let's take a look at our beloved characters! Starting with...

Jen!

Feisty, amiable, and bearer of genuine sincerity. Her bubbly attitude makes her the heart that binds the team together, and her fiery passion makes her someone who always strives for the better! Though it is well said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions...

Ted!

The calm anchor amidst chaos; cordial and serene. His honorable character brings a soothing flow and balance, making him the dependable foundation of the group. Don’t take him for granted, however! He’s not your everyday teddy bear and can really pack a punch!

Ivy!

Decisive and down-to-earth; her low-key nature and spot-on observations make her the master key of the bunch. With an unwavering focus, she keeps her promises to heart and will do anything to see them fully accomplished, although the means taken can be... unconventional.

And... Kev!

A spunky, spirited firecracker that is sure to be your partner-in-crime! Exuding spontaneity everywhere he goes, he's a wildcard among his peers. Even so, he often finds himself stuck in a whirlwind of his own, so he may need a helping hand every now and then.

A little more about Tin Town:

Tin Town arises from a deep dissatisfaction with the current state of society and the life-consuming exhaustion that comes with being part of it.

Tin Town is also a wide compound of various references and interests! Art-wise, it takes heavy inspiration from retro-futurism, which helps further enhance the commentary on industrialization.

In the same way, we draw inspiration from surrealism and op-art, as it forces us to find new, unconventional ways to portray our vision.

More contemporary references include internet projects like Homestuck, which also rely on multimedia storytelling.

Most importantly, Tin Town originates from the love that comes with being human, the feeling that there’s more to life than what it seems to offer, and the experience of fighting in the name of life in a world where everything seems to fall apart.

Started learning to crochet this week, have a picture of this scarf I'm making

Doing my schoolwork feels like pulling teeth at the moment, so I've started making a braided rag basket out of the blue sheet that bleeds dye everywhere (including my hands while braiding it). The plan is to make it the right size to go on top of the entryway drawers so that it can be a tidier landing place for hats/mits/etc. than the current pile on a chair. Since all of my winter stuff is relatively dark colours anyway, the dye bleeding ishouldn't matter, and it won't stain some other unsuspecting thrift store customer's legs and mattress protector blue.
