Watching BBC Atlantis and man Pythagoras and Icarus Holyshit that is some gay shit they got going on I'm screaming

Like I wouldn't even call it sub text it's just fucking in the text there- short of them actually saying "i love you' or like kissing but I'd say they get it across real well with everything else.

Like earlier on they do make it pretty clear he doesn't seem to hold interest in any woman at all - and quite honestly is more interested in his triangles. Which to me my first thought was aight man giving off Ace vibes- and not saying he still couldn't be

However in this Second season just bruh, like very early on I could maybe believe/ be willing to argue that some of the things said one might hear/say between like very close friends but there is a line that they for sure crossed in that there was no none gay / romantic reason or explanation for it.

stumbled across bbc atlantis on iplayer and holy shit. this show was something. they crammed it so full of recogniseable figures from greek mythology like medusa, hercules, the minotaur and then said "oh yeah and pythagoras is here too. the guy with the triangle theory. he is also here. and he's traumatised and autistic". then in the second season they said "oh, he's gay and his boyfriend is icarus btw"

they made a highly famous mathematician into an overly anxious gay loser and then, to quote that one post about dead boy detectives, they tossed him at tumblr like a wedding bouquet

I just rewatched BBC Atlantis and I’d forgotten how good it was? So I have three things to say:

1. Way to cancel the show right having canon gays, guys (but at least there were gays? As a Merlin fan, this is an improvement, so I don’t know whether to be happy or not)

2. I think I’m going to murder BBC for cancelling it (joking for legal reasons, but seriously what the fuck)

3. There had better be so much Pythagorus/Icarus fic on AO3. I mean so much.

Very much enjoying an Atlantis season 2 rewatch but it has to be said- they really did squeeze the gay in right at the end! In the space of 4 episodes Pythagoras met Icarus (hey new character he apparently already knew but we never saw before!), flirted, fell in love, was betrayed & had his heart broken and ended the perfect arc with a redemption kiss before walking off into the sunset.

I repeat: FOUR EPISODES.

(To be fair, most of it's the final episode.)

eventhough jason had hercules and pythagoras, he actually would have been really lonely. he literally was taken to a completely different world and had to deal with the adjustments alone!

the show made out he adjusted easily but come on....mythical creatures, greek myth which is apparently now real, even things like using the toilet etc would have been a major and difficult adjustment 💀 he was literally living in a world where they executed people.

i was actually thinking yesterday how jason was naked when he washed ashore and stole some clothes that were there and they ended up being his clothes throughout the entire show - that man had no clothes or home! so like imagine if he didn't meet hercules and pythagoras what would he have done 😭

Okay so I have been here before, having a 2 frame clip that made me go insane and its for a pairing that isn’t even popular (and I have no idea why because they’re canon but the show was cancelled even though s2 was way better and it had found its feet and yeah I’m still bitter)   They’re Icarus and Pythagoras from BBC Atlantis (pythacarus is the ship name and man I miss my blog for them I accidentally deleted it years ago because I’m a dumbass)

Here’s a vid of a few I made on this pairing for anyone interested (and because they deserve so much more love and attention than they get...the pairing not my mediocre vids lol)

Their love story was so well done, it had angst and romance and slow burn and was beautifully understated and just *there*. And before we even got to their story in the 2nd season we had a 2 second gif of a forehead touch in the trailer that just inspired us all so much and we wrote fanfic and had headcanons all over this small scene where we had zero context (and at that point it wasn’t absolutely clarified that it was gonna be a love story) but later the actors just kept releasing tidbits which all built it up and finally, watching their love story unfold and become canon (as they kissed) is a night I’ll never forget asfghjk

I mean they had dialogue like “You mean everything to me” “May the Gods be with you” They counted the stars from a rooftop together, they were SO SOFT with each other (and the actors both liked my tweet I sent them about how beautiful their portrayal was) 

and it was just so special and now I’m feeling it all over again with the kiss between Aziraphale and Crowley, my heart and imagination is running wild (and I’m an angst queen so would like a little bit of delicious angst) And I can’t stop thinking about how Crowley PULLS HIM IN and Aziraphale has his eyes closed and I’m just HFBGDSHFVGADSHFGA

So yeah I need all the fics and headcanons I can get about this leak and what everyone thinks will happen because I cannot wait until July!
