I just think it's funny how "Being Different" was used as a metaphor for being queer, and El and Max have both been described in the narrative as "different."

The fact that everyone is losing it over Stede calling Ed his boyfriend in a deleted scene shot on a cell phone just underscores for me how thoroughly S2 was de-queered.
They call each other “friends” in the actual show. The season does not end with them holding hands or kissing or anything even though we’re meant to see it as them starting their life together.
Any vaguely polyamorous situation has been erased entirely.
Our sapphic couple follow up “You’re so fucking hot right now” with…a hug. I mean Anne kisses Stede but not her wife? 😩
Max’s dirty fingerprints are all over so much of this. I know some cuts are to be expected for time and flow and pacing. But so much of this is clearly Max trying to make the show palatable enough to milk for that sweet four quadrant cash…and even that wasn’t enough to save it.

One thing that's likely not visible to all younger queers is that little kids shows have gotten radically queerer in the last 10 years.
I'm not just talking about Owl House, Kippo etc, much as I love them.
I mean like stuff for kindergardners.
Characters in Strawberry Shortcake and Superhero Girls and more have gay parents just unremarkably in the background. That was unthinkable 15 years ago.
But the thing that shocks me utterly is the casual inclusion of nonbinary characters.
Dee and Friends in Oz, Polly Pocket, Craig of the Creek...it seems like half the shows my daughter watches have nonbinary characters just seamlessly included. Not even a Very Special Episode. Just...here's the scarecrow in charge of scarecrow village who uses they/them pronouns that everyone just uses without comment.
I was almost 30 before I found the word nonbinary. For my kid to just grow up with this is astonishing.
Conservatives are so mad because it's INCREDIBLY hard to just put this kind of inclusion back away. Once something is normal, and clearly not causing anything bad to happen, it's hard to convince people to be scared of it.

kinda reaching my personal limit of seeing pieces of art that are inherently and explicitly about the queer experience being used in web weaving posts about taylor or formula one or whatever. yes i too love making hashtag connections but . idk man. feels weird for a reason i can't properly articulate.

It's sort of like how the gender reveal crowd keeps accidentally making the most banger genderqueer accessories.
Some gender essentialist dingus: Boy or Girl? It's a Mystery!
My genderweird ass: I SURE FUCKIN' AM!!
I do like that men who are scared to wear purses just use messenger bags and fanny packs slung over their chests now like legitimately I appreciate having a masc passing option for my things and objects

Things are escalating quickly, so here’s a list I’ve made of ways that we can fight against the MAGA agenda:
1. Speak out. Tell people how and why Trump is dangerous. Vote against MAGA republicans and encourage other people to do so as well. Call your representatives, attend town halls. Be as vocally anti-Trump as possible.
2. Boycott. Tesla, Amazon, Meta and every other company that supports Donald Trump. They see you as a purse, not a person. Don’t give them your money if they won’t give you your rights.
3. Be weirder, queerer, more colorful and progressive and everything else they hate. Assimilation is what they want, don’t give it to them.
4. Organize and participate in strikes. Don’t let the government and the companies that support it function.
5. On that note, sabotage.
6. Protest. Get loud. Make signs and put them up. Bring your sharpie everywhere and don’t be afraid to use it. Some people are still asleep to the dangers, it’s your job to wake them up.
7. Know your rights. Make sure others do as well, especially those at risk of deportation. Speak out but be aware of what can be used against you. When it comes down to it, PLEAD THE FIFTH
8. It can be overwhelming to keep informed on how human rights are being violated in new and exciting ways, so pick ONE or A FEW issues and focus on them. There’s immigration, LGBTQ+ rights, DEI, neocolonialism, foreign aid, tariffs, freedom of speech, reproductive rights, and so much more to choose from.
If you have other suggestions, please share them. This is an imperfect list, and I understand that many people don’t have the ability to speak out against Trump safely. But if you do, don’t be overwhelmed into inaction. You have more power than you think you do
