"hold still, baby." peter spoke quietly, mere inches from your face.

"peter, i really have to go." you mumble with the exception of barely being able to move your mouth.

one of peter's newfound favorite things was helping you apply your lipgloss. it didn't matter where you were going: school, down the street, even stepping outside on the front porch— if peter had any say, you never left the house without lipgloss. it didn't matter what you were wearing; one of your best planned outfits or sweatpants, peter insisted on lipgloss.

he loved being able to help you. even if you didn't want or need the help it made him feel like the best boyfriend ever, a proud gleaming smile adorned his features each time he finish applying the gloss. and who were you to say no to those beautiful eyes of his when they silently pleaded at you.

"i know you do, but please let me do this." he pulled away for a moment, tube in one hand, applicator in the other. he didn't even realize how many precious seconds he was wasting, you were so close to missing your bus you could kill him.

"okay, okay. get on with it." you lightly smacked his shoulder, ushering him to continue.

the worst part about it, this process always took forever. why, you ask?

"done!" he smiled at you.

"i really gotta go, pete." you spoke strictly, knowing his next move.

"bye, i love you." he whispered, leaning in for a goodbye kiss. you rolled your eyes as your lips collided with his, feeling your gloss rub off and transfer to his own.

"well..." he spoke slickly, "guess i gotta do it all over again."

"seriously?!"

so yesterday The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) was released onto Netflix and of course I had to watch it, trying to get my two year old daughter to sit with me since she’s interested in all the MCU movies—she fell asleep not even halfway through but whatever.

Anyway, once the movie ended, I realized there was a continuity error (sort of) in Spiderman: No Way Home (2021).

Everybody knows the iconic line said by Ben Parker in Spiderman (2002) “With great power comes great responsibility” and we hear Aunt May (RIP) say it to Peter!Tom before she d!es as well.

And then in NWH we get a mourning Peter (Tom) who is comforted by MJ and Ned, then he is introduced to the Raimi-Verse and Webb-Verse Peter Parkers, respectively. MCU-Peter says he doesn’t care anymore and is ready to send everyone back to their own universe but then the other two Peters start talking about their losses of Uncle Ben (Raimi-Verse) and Gwen Stacy (Webb-Verse) —since both exist in two universes have to make it clear which one was which— and MCU-Peter starts to quote Aunt May, “with great power”, only to be interrupted by Raimi-Peter who finishes the quote, “comes great responsibility” HOWEVER it is Webb-Peter that says it was Uncle Ben who said it before he d!ed.

Webb-Verse Uncle Ben didn’t actually told Peter that great power comes with great responsibility, instead he says “you are a lot like your father. You really are, Peter, and that's a good thing. But your father, he lived by a philosophy, a principle, really. He believed that if you could do good things for other people, you had a moral obligation to do those things! That's what's at stake here. Not choice. Responsibility.” where it is heavily implied but never explicitly said.

Anyway. I figured I’d just share that with y’all because I went into extensive Googling and rewatched the NWH scene on YouTube twice because it popped into my head after watching the movie and I was waiting to hear Uncle Ben say it the entire time, expecting it to be in the voice mail that he left Peter before he d!ed.

Peter 1: Uh… I’m so glad I got my GED and left when I did. I’ve been patrolling different parts of the city to stay away from Two. I saw Deadpool and swung in the opposite direction. I’ve been staying with Hardy… and yeah, that basically sums up the past month and a half.

Peter 3: I took Steven to a con! I’ve been helping Steven, Marc, and Jake figure some stuff out… they’re pretty cool. We’ve been fighting a few villains, but in general, life’s been… okay. I’m worried about Two and One, though, I’d kinda hoped this would just… blow over, y’know?
