The three-day learning journey organised by @themusiqueloft and @natstudio_1985 received a standing ovation with a concluding concert at the @salasudasirisobha performed by all the aspiring pianists. It’s heartwarming to see how like-minded children get to know each other to a deeper level, building friendships, support and cheer one another at each practice and performance. It’s not just about the goal, but the process, the determination, and the joy that come with it. I asked my son, “shouldn’t the song be played a little slower?” , and he said “I want to play it fast… “. “Sure, but when it’s too fast, it may go out of control…” , but then I restrained myself from talking too much of what I believe… because I am supporting a child to his fullest potential, not creating a product to fit into a mould. He is a spirited child; so am thankful to Ms Shann from @thepianogardensg for choosing music that suits his character, otherwise, he loses interests in music because of the need to intentionally practise. At the end of the day, the music therapist in me constantly reflect, and ask “what is the function of music in his life?”. Parents Raising Men.

So these are the same parents who complain about why their daughters can’t find a man to marry yet forget that they along the rest of the parents are the reason why the girls can’t find a decent man to marry. If you put your son above your daughter, and you forgive every flaw and mistake of him, but you personally attack your daughter and call her characterless, and put her down, then what do you think will happen? 

All the men that these women will try to marry (if they’re raised in such a sexist household), they will think nothing of the women resulting in a resentful and/or divorced woman.

🍃🌳🍃 It was a happy day when I realized I had enough shade from the redbuds and Japanese maples to no longer need the obligatory umbrella in the middle of the table. I raised the sheltering redbud trees that surround and envelope the space from mere seedlings, volunteer offspring of the only thing growing in the back when we bought our home. They are mature and beautiful now, contributing their own shade and protection from the elements. The aged tree from which they sprang is really nothing more than a massive trunk now, but with enough energy left to generate its own bit of shade and grace over the wooden bench that nestles in the hydrangeas. The bench from which my husband and I would watch our boys engage in sword fights, Power Ranger moves and watermelon seed challenges. Like flashback scenes in a movie, I have my own parade of flashbacks in the garden. Thoughts of shelter once needed, but now removed.
