“fuyu, you’re staring.” your words broke him out of his daze, his green eyes widening before looking away from you. even though he did this often, you still felt a tinge of nervousness under his stare

“you look pretty today.” was his excuse as he tried to play his adoring stare, his eyes looking for something else to lock onto.

“i’m not even dressed up,” your confused words made him forget his mission as he looked right back over to you.

“who said you need to be dressed up to be pretty?” he asked without a thought, making your heart warm as his green eyes met without yours once more. in fact, he loved you much more with you in an old shirt with a cat on it that he got as a joke one year but ended up loving to death. he loved you so much more with a bare face, no makeup covering your natural features. he loved how everything about you at the moment showed how comfortable you were around him since you knew he would never find you ugly.

“stop it.” your only defense was the two words as his stare began to enchant you once more. his eyes never sparred you of his raw sense of love for you, his green orbs holding so much emotion. chifuyu knew, it was obvious by the way your cheeks turned pink. he continued to stare nonetheless, wanting to make sure you knew all of the love he held just for you.

“was it peke j?” he continued on with his earlier words, dismissing your words as he gave you a faux worried look. “did he tell you that?” you made sure to roll your eyes at his words, though you couldn’t help but smile at his playfulness.

“no, fuyu—”

“good, because i sure as hell didn’t say that, so no one else’s opinions should matter,” he claimed, disregarding all of the cheesiness in his words. your smile could only grow at the sweet words from your boyfriend. you couldn’t help but crawl over to sit in front of him on the couch and wrap your arms around him in a hug.

“you’re so embarrassing, fuyu,” you mumbled into his neck, your smile evident against his skin. he didn’t mind your words, only wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his lips on the crown of your head.

“you’re sure peke j didn’t say anything bad?” he asked after a moment of silence, prompting you to roll your eyes once more, no matter if he saw it or not.

“only about you,” you nonchalantly replied, drawing a gasp from chifuyu as he pulled away to give you an offended look.

you watch your phone ding twice after you wipe your tears, processing the fact that yunho just walked into your apartment for the first time ever. you felt like none of it was real, that it was simply a blur that he came to your home, cried to you, kissed your forehead and promised he’d change.

yunho often kept his promise, thus leaving a feeling of confusion on your heart. you decide to ignore what your heart is telling you to do, and instead, listening to your brain:

you trusted him once before, and he fucked it up. don’t do that to yourself again, y/n

no matter how hard you try to ignore the messages on your phone from yunho’s support buddy, you can’t. what could mingi want at this hour?

y/n: hi, whats up?

mingi.?: i stole ur number from yun

as you respond to mingi, you wait a few seconds before mingi’s called ID pops up on your phone. the last thing you need right now is to talk about yunho— and if he calls for just that, you’d rather hang up and sit in silence as you literally haven’t even recovered from that entire show that just took place not even an hour ago.

“hello?” he speaks.

“hey, m-ming…mingi?” you try to pronounce his name, thinking you forgot his name, but he’s quick to confirm that you’d pronounced it right.

“yeah you said it right. how are you, y/n? how’s everything going?” you think he’s only starting small talk just to get to the topic of yunho.

“i could be better but for now i’m okay. how are you, mingi? what makes you call me at this hour?”

“if i’m being honest, i was going to ask you how you and yunho were putting up since i know he just got home from your place. he looked pretty fucked up, y/n.” you feel like he’s guilt tripping you, but you also feel like he’s part of the reason you got to see yunho tonight.

“we didn’t really talk much, he explained what happened that night and i know he regrets it— well, i like to believe he regrets it. plus, i really don’t know why it took him so long to reach out to me through san. because if he really wanted to reach out to me, he wouldn’t just send me pathetic ass texts and not have san call me.”

you and mingi both know that yunho’s texts were not pathetic. they— in fact— made your heart sink, and got you to seeing yunho, even though you didn’t want to be reminded of him, those texts are the reason you still saw him.

“i talked to him a couple years ago and we found each other at our lowest. we met at rehab— he was very much into popping pills and inflicting pain onto himself so i decided to help him out since we were going through the same thing. he had no place to stay, he sold his apartment because he owed that fucker san drug money. i took him into my apartment and i helped him build his credit score and save up to get his own place. he ended up buying a house bigger than mine. no matter what he does, he’s never really happy. i’ve known yunho long enough to know that he is not himself. listen, y/n. i’m not trying guilt trip you, but yunho really did love you. a lot of us do things we shouldn’t but that’s not an excuse. people fuck up, and you don’t have to forgive him, but give him the room to change in a way that shows how much he regrets doing that to you. i’m not saying you need to forgive him now or anything, but let your logic do it’s thing. goodnight, y/n. call me if anything changes.”

mingi hangs up the phone, leaving your head empty and full at the same time. so much happened today, and the last thing you needed was mingi unpacking everything to you.

yunho never mentioned that in his texts. since the both of you were together, yunho was too scared to touch a drug— that being part of the reason he never got along with san.

your pink nail polish is laid out on the floor in crumbles as you’ve picked it all off your nails. you think twice or three times over about how yunho was so broken over what he did to you. he’s the victim in his own story.

you are broken, but you didn’t feel like you were allowed to be hurt— though you have every right to be.

while you and yunho were together, you often refused sex when you got back from work, claiming that you were ‘too tired’ or ‘too busy’ to pay yunho any attention. you can’t remember the last date you had with yunho.

your thoughts cloud your brain as you slowly start to feel like you’re part of the reason he’d cheated on you.

“we hadn’t had sex in like 4 months so i started to believe it.”

“they said you don’t deserve someone like me.”

“they said you can’t handle me”

you walk over to your kitchen, grabbing your lighter and heading back to your balcony. as the night sky hugs your home, you start to mentally prepare yourself for the next few months. you’ve cancelled every lash booking you had for the next week and a half, not being in the right headspace for anything.

you pick up your phone, calling wooyoung.

“it’s 3 in the morning go back to sleep.” he groans. you caught him at the wrong time, hearing a female voice in the back moaning and breathing heavy.

“can you come over? i need you here.” you light your cigarette, the smoke clouding the air in front of you.

“i’m on my way.”

in almost 7 minutes, your best friend is sitting right by you, throwing the cigarette off the balcony. he notices how your nose and eyes are puffy from crying, how your gaze is absent. he puts his lazy hand around your shoulders, pulling you to lean on his own.

“i’m guessing it didn’t go well?” he asks, his baggy flannel smells like comfort, making your eyes well up in tears, in appreciation for your best friend.

“i’m sorry, wooyoung. i keep crying to you. i’m just so overwhelmed and so much shit is unfolding tonight, i just wanna run away from everything bro.” you sniffle into his chest, his hand rubbing on the small of your back.

“hey, it’s okay. it’s okay to cry. talk to me when you’re ready. i’m here to listen, babes.” he rubs and shushes you, as you relax against his hands.

“we talked about what happened that night and how it happened. he said he just didn’t feel like i wanted him anymore and because we didn’t have sex in like 4 months he started to believe what sara and maya were saying.”

“what were they saying?”

“they were saying shit like i didn’t deserve someone like him and that i was stupid to believe i could have someone like him. then when he left he kissed my forehead and walked out and that just was the cherry on top.”

“shit, y/n. i’m sorry.” he stops rubbing your back as you sit up facing him. he brings his hand up to wipe your tears and fix your hair.

“what else, babe?”

“then like an hour after he left, mingi texted me and when i saw it he asked to call. then i said yeah and called me and he told me how yunho was coping when we split. he said he got into drugs and started doing self harm and shit, he sold his apartment cus he owed san money for drugs and he had to get into rehab for it all. he told me how yunho regrets everything but i don’t know, woo. what do i do?” you breathe. you don’t wanna keep crying, but it’s all you can do.

“how’d you feel after the talk with yunho?” he questions.

“i don’t know. i just feel like i wanna give him room to change cus i feel like he would. but then again, he cheated once and he literally said he wanted to leave but i was holding him back from doing what he wanted. i feel like a burden on him even when we’re not together anymore. and i don’t wanna have to go through that again.”

“first of all, you’re the victim. i don’t know why mingi is making it seem like you’re to blame. second of all, i’m not gonna tell you what you should do. all i will say, is that you need hella time to figure it out. listen to your brain, y/n. not your heart. your heart will tell you to do things impulsively, it’s why your brain is up here, and your heart is right under it. your brain will lead you to do the most logical thing and what’s best for you. ’ll support you, no matter what choice you make. but please make the right one.” he kisses your temple, bringing you back to lean on him again.

“woo,”

“yes, y/n.”

“i don’t know what the fuck i’d do if i lost you.”

“you interrupted the best fuck of my life, but i forgive you. don’t let it happen again.”

you laugh, following wooyoung’s giggle.

“i love you, y/n. do you want me to stay the night?” he watches the stars twinkle and dance, taking in the feeling of his best friend in need, and him being the only person who could make you feel at ease— something he would never take for granted.

F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

Fights with Scaramouche aren’t uncommon, but most of them are actually just aggressive banter. It can go wrong, or maybe you’re having a serious fight, which will end up with him going away for a while to avoid saying too many things. You’re still his lover, and he doesn’t want you to leave him for not being able to control his words.

If you’re in the wrong, or did something that felt like betrayal, he’s not going to forgive you. Even if a part of him, the naive, gentle Kunikuzushi wants to talk and stay with you after that, he won’t do it. He won’t forgive anyone who betrays him, and that includes you.

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

Your lover does indeed get jealous easily, mainly because of his own insecurities and memories from the past. He can’t help but feel upset when someone else makes you laugh, a whisper in his mind wondering if you’d be happier with them rather than with a broken puppet like him.

He won’t let you go, though. Scaramouche isn’t afraid to resort to violence to force that person away from you, but he knows you wouldn’t want that. So, he’ll force himself to act calm and give that person the chance to go away. If they take it, good, but if they don’t… Your lover’s smile as he tells you to walk away for a bit is anything but comforting.

L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

It most likely happened in a moment of stress, completely unexpected for the two of you. Maybe you were in a dangerous situation, injured or arguing with him. It’s hard to control one’s words while upset, so he probably slipped up.

In reality, Scaramouche thought of ignoring his feelings, he hated the fact that you made him feel such warmth with just a look, as well as pure fear when you did something reckless. Unless his mouth is faster than his brain, he wouldn’t confess. He would, however, give it a chance if you took that step.

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

He usually calls you by your name, or a short version of it if it’s on the longer side. He tends to call you “dummy” sometimes, or “idiot” if he knows you don’t mind too much. Your lover doesn’t want to accidentally hurt you, but he’s not the most vocally affectionate.

In private, during nights where his mind is plagued with thoughts and he can’t help but chase after your touch for a reminder that you’re by his side, he calls you “love”. A simple nickname, but one that also describes his feelings for you at the same time. You might also hear him calling you “dear” or “darling” when he’s especially relaxed.

R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

Scaramouche isn’t very romantic, mainly because he doesn’t really know much about romance. But, he’s willing to try if it makes you happy. A romantic dinner, walking side by side under a sea of stars, watching the sunset together… Tell him what you’d like.

You’ll have to be the one to think about what to do though, if you’d prefer something creative. He’ll go for safer options if you’d let him, at least the first few times. And, even though he would never admit it, he started enjoying the romantic gestures after a while. He may surprise you by getting you your favorite flowers or snacks from time to time, acting like he didn’t actually search for something to make you smile.

hi!! I'm so totally open for requests or inspo! it's not often I get requests, but never hesitate to reach out if you ever have any more because i honestly love doing them. i think i can definitely get something in the works with a worried, protective simon being utterly besotted for his boy <3 i'm basically on yr brain rot right now, so i'd keep a look out for something soon!!

but to tide you over until then, here's some silly jealousy/being-protective-over-their-relationship headcanons for the boys:

wille is definitely more of a pouty, tinker bell "give me attention or i die" kind of jealous. but like, it doesn't bug him if simon is hanging out with someone else or if he's having a conversation with one of their classmates while wille sits next to him. instead, wille gets pouty when inanimate objects are getting more attention that him. he gets all "you haven't kissed me in an hour :((" or "stop writing things down, i wanna hold your hand" or "don't mind me, i'm just gonna lie across your lap while you play video games"

simon has a habit of like,, immediately giving in to wille's sad "pay attention to me" eyes, so he's started instituting rules that they're not allowed to study together anymore because damnit how did we end up cuddling in bed AGAIN, we have a test tomorrow

(wille also has a possessive side that rears its head every once in a while. sometimes he purposefully litters hickeys on simon's neck that are VERY visible to everyone, or he'll make a point to switch out simon's sweater for his own while their in the locker room. on one memorable occassion, they'd run into marcus in bjarstad and holy moly did wille make a show of tucking simon close to him with an arm securely around his waist that didn't move the rest of the time, save for when he slipped his hand into simon's back pocket)

simon, on the other hand, tries really hard not to get jealous. he doesn't want to be possessive and he doesn't want to seem needy, and he doesn't want to let himself repeat what happened last time he got jealous (read: attacking wille via dodgeball). but at the same time, like, he never thought he'd get to actually have wille. it had felt like the world came crashing down around him when wille denied the video, and he never thought they'd be able to find their way back to each other

when they actually were able to overcome everything and date for real and be in love out in the open, simon felt like he was floating on clouds for w e e k s. wille loved him and didn't want it to be a secret and this boy, the crown prince of sweden, was HIS

so even though simon doesn't want to be jealous, when something you've hoped for and wanted for so long finally gets to be yours, it's natural that you get, well. a little protective over it

so maybe sometimes he notices the smirk nils gives wille and less than subtly makes home in wille's lap. or maybe he notices that the latest phone call with the queen has wille's hackles up and pulls him into the music room to play him a little melody on the piano. or he pretends not to notice the way wille blantanly puts his hand in simon's pocket while marcus stands across the room because the show of affection makes his heart beat faster. and maybe he saves most of his own affection for behind closed doors and curtains because that smile wille gets belongs to him and if the whole world was able to see what wille looks like when he's happy and carefree then everyone else would fall in love with him too and wille is HIS goddamn it

both of them are 100%, all in, would rather die than give this up when it comes to their relationship, even if they know they’re still young and have a lifetime ahead of them. they’re utterly besotted and hopelessly in love and just want to spend their lives wrapped up in each other. they really just want to protect what they have, but they don’t let jealousy or possessiveness or anything get the better of them because they trust and love each other <3

Hio been thinking about asking you this for a while but kept forgetting

Been thinking about angsty scenarios for characters u see and some questions popped up that now will be yours to answer if you'd like

1-what would your oc do if they meet their younger much happier selve? Or in reverse their older and wiser and more bitter self?

2-your characters are locked in a mysterious space, and they can't get out unless they relive their greatest regret. What will they do? How would they react? Ps: Even if they're reliving that moment, no matter how they choose to act, what happend won't change

3-your original characters are put in a situation where they must face their greatest mental dilemma, be it an inferiority complex or traumatic experience that they still haven't moved on from or even their own self worth issues(if they have any) well basically any thoughts that they always bury deep in their heart and ignore to avoid facing their problems and so these characyers have to del with these mental barriers to solve whatever situation they are in

Ps: its not the mysterious space from #2 it could be any plot relevant situation or any non relevant to plot situation you think of

4-if your characters traveled to an alternate world of their own world, what would they do? Yk like a world where those they lost are still there or a world where their other selves didn't have to abandon whatever it was they abandoned or smth like that

Would they love it?

Would they hate it?

Would they bitterly part ways with it? And why?

Would they leave anything there? Wether accidentally or purposely? What would it be?

1. I need to write this as an Au for J&R but for TCOT, Baby Kasi would think she's weird, and Baby Marril would be happy that he looks like his dad

2. OOH THIS ONE IS DARKKKK. Because both characters I thought of when I read this would kill themselves attempting to save the person they lost. Jak would burn himself alive, and Marril would drown himself.

3. Are you asking what they would do or what it is? I'll answer for both. Marril's is the guilt over his first murder, and he would face it head on with his weapons because he knows now he can change something. Meanwhile Jak... all of that mess... he would probably curl up in a corner and cry.

4. Marril's world is where his first murder victim swapped places with him. He would hug her and apologize. She would mistake him for his father.

He would have mixed feelings, bc on one hand, she's alive, on the other hand, she's cursed and an Assassin.

He would be glad to go home because he likes his potential of a happy ending better than the corrupted version of someone he used to love.

He may or may not leave behind tips to escape the curse.

(Eveny & Rune Survived with Finn as their replacement for Rose. J&R both died in this universe) Jak would be SHATTERED in his universe, he wouldn't care about anything really, he'd just be happy he has his wife back. She would also have a COMPLICATED array of Emotional issues bc Eynalis would turn his attention to her in Jak's absence. But because Rune survived, she would be determined to hold out for him.

These two, both disheveled and in mental pieces, would just be happy to have each other back. (Though they'd both mourn this universe's Rose's Loss)

He & this universe's Eveny & Rune would FIGHT to keep him, but when he has to leave, he would leave her some flowers because he has nothing else to give.

Present for J: suntan one-shot!!

Supriiiise~! I wanted to write up a short lil suntan one-shot for my good friend @magicalmasa for her birthday!! 🍰​​ I really wanted to post it yesterday, but I sadly became so much busier until nighttime, so I apologize for that: but I still hope this can be a lil surprise for you to see~!

Summary: Sunny and Kel spend the weekend night together, with Kel spending the night over at Sunny’s house! They have lots of fun, spending time together... and they’re boyfriends, so Sunny also loves to just... relax and be happy with the boy that he loves...

So basically, just some mindless suntan fluff! This is my first time ever writing Sunny and Kel, and an OMORI one-shot in general, so I hope it’s good, and that you especially will love it, J!! ☆ ilu homie!! And to anyone else who may read this, thank you!! Hope you enjoy as well!

Sunny liked weekends. Not just in general, but especially because he could stay up late with Kel. The other was going to spend the night at Sunny’s house. Since Mari was still away at college with Hero, it admittedly got a bit lonelier in the house... so whenever his boyfriend could spend time with him, it made Sunny truly happy.

They even made a blanket fort, bringing up snacks and drinks from the kitchen as they planned to watch some movies, play video games together, read some comics... jokingly telling themselves that sleep was the last thing they will actually be doing.

“Aww, I was so close! You really are too good at this game, Sunny.” They were currently playing a fighting game together, Sunny winning yet again as Kel dramatically sighs in defeat.

“...Get good, Kel.” Despite the stone-faced look on Sunny’s face as he says that, there’s a hint of a smirk on his face as he looks towards him.

“Excuse you? Where’d you learnt that from, huh?” He laughs, wrapping one arm around Sunny while his other hand playfully gives Sunny’s head a noogie. “If we ever play a basketball game together, we’ll see who’s the one that really needs to get good, hah!”

“Hehe....” A quiet giggle leaves Sunny from the noogie and Kel’s remark, playfully patting at his arm. Sunny wasn’t the most expressive, so it might be hard to tell if he’s being serious or not when trying to be playful or sarcastic. But of course; Kel knows Sunny more than well enough to tell. Sunny sometimes worried if he was far too quiet for Kel’s liking... but Kel always made sure to reassure him that he loves Sunny the way that he is. He doesn’t need to change anything about himself to make Kel love him more.

“Alright! Ready to make fun of some comically bad movies?” After letting go of Sunny, he holds up several DVD’s with a widening smile on his face. “I’ve got several.”

“Mmhm.” Sunny points to one of them, looking like some kind of action movie. The movie was so badly written that Kel was nearly spitting out his soda with laughter, and even Sunny almost choking when he couldn’t hold in his laughter as he was eating a slice of pizza. The sarcastic comments they’d make about the ridiculous parts of the movie, plus them sometimes mocking the characters if they said something stupid... made for one hilarious movie nights full of laughter and Sunny’s mom having to come into the room a few times to tell them to be quieter, them apologizing each time. Though she was happy to see her son having so much fun with Kel: it wasn’t often he had such a wide smile on his face and clearly looking like he was having a lot of fun.

As they continued to chat the night away afterwards while the TV was now mostly background noise for whatever channel was playing at the moment... sleepiness eventually did start to catch up with the boy as it reached 2am, them getting comfy under the blankets in their forts. “Sleepyyy... guess we failed the ‘Staying Up All Night’ objective, huh?” He chuckles, Sunny nodding in response. “But I don’t mind that. Cause...well...” Feeling his face starting to heat up, he wraps an arm around Sunny’s waist to pull him close. “I-It means we can fall asleep together...cuddled up and stuff. H-Hehe...”

“Kel...” Sunny’s own cheeks turned a light pink as he found himself huddled up closer against Kel. In the couple of months that they’ve started dating by now, they have cuddled a few times before, yet Sunny still felt his heart leap as if it were the first time they were doing so all over again. Kel felt so warm... he loves being in his arms. As he stares up at his much taller boyfriend, there’s a light smile on his face as he teases: “...Cute.”

“Ah-h-hey, come on! It’s already embarrassing saying this kind of mushy stuff. Don’t tease me!” He bashfully laughs, feeling his cheeks heat up even more. Kel really didn’t think, before he started crushing on and dating Sunny: that’d he find himself saying such intimate and romantic things. He jokes to himself that 12 year-old him would gag at the thought of saying such ‘sappy, cheesy’ stuff. But he didn’t mind that... he happily wants to get more used to it. He’s fully of love for Sunny... and wants to express that in every way, shape, and form that he can.  

A soft yawn leaves Sunny as he snuggles up against Kel some more, burying his face in his chest. He could hear Kel’s heartbeat... the sound being so soothing to him. Hello! I’m so glad u love our moodboards thank u! (Sorry this ask is going to be kinda formal ahhh) to answer your question j and I don’t really have any actual rules! I can give u tips on requesting though?

 Please when requesting try to put in the group the person is from that would be really appreciated! Since J and I don’t have limits on who you can request that would help us out especially if we don’t know who they are!( I mean obvi if it’s like jin or smth we know he’s from BTS but who knows maybe u meant a different jin!)

Please understand that both admins have EXTREMELY busy lives and we would LOVE to answer the asks as fast as we can but sometimes it’s hard to! (Especially since we don’t want to close the ask box they kind of pile up sometimes…but that’s ok!) So please don’t be upset or think that we ignored your request we would never do that! (U guys r really good at this though so I don’t really have to write it…)

 J and I always try to follow the requests as closely as we can but sometimes the pictures don’t work out!(😭) Like if someone asks for something extremely specific like a jin mb where he is like an alligator wrangler but also has a shaved head and hates people like??? That???is????impossible???(which has never happened but it’s just an example!) and even if it was possible it would be SO ugly! Yeah, I'd be happy to talk about my thoughts so far! :D Altho fyi I'm still on the 2nd chapter and I'm playing pretty slowly/taking my time with it, so I haven't met a ton of characters yet. I'm trying really hard to find all the collectables/win the arcade challenges and stuff so I'm going at a snail pace lol. It's been an absolute blast though!

K/omaru's kinda different than I expected her to be tbh but I do love what they did with her! I kind of had it in my head that she'd be more upbeat/heroic and like, stronger/more of a fighter than M/akoto, so to find out she's actually even quicker to give up/very defeatist was a bit of a shock lol. But I do really like it, both for development purposes as the game goes on and also bc she IS what a normal person in that world would be, depressed and scared shitless, panicky even with a weapon, relies a lot of T/ouko. Having the sister of the Ultimate Hope be... not Despair, but just a little less confident like that is very nice thematically. I love her banter with T/ouko a lot, they're funny af together. Not sure if I really ship them? They might be cute but also T/ouko is so 200% devoted to Master B/yakuya that even my multishipper butt has trouble separating them at all lmao. One-sided crush from K/omaru's side would be pretty sweet tho 💛

I don't trust M/onaca. Not even bc she's named M/onaca or bc of her creepy hollow gaze or overly uvu nice routine, but bc she has green hair. In my experience you NEVER trust an anime bitch with the cutesy green hair and golden/green eyes combo. They will be evil, or at least a bit unhinged every time istg. This bitch be plottin 🙃 That said, I'll admit her design is cute af, very aesthetic 💚 and I'm very interested in her development as a character. Her and the blue boi are cute although I'm positive she's going to betray his ass immediately when the moment comes. There is no love in her soulless little eyes and I fear for him

J/ataro (I think that's his name? The art mask boi) is my favourite Warrior of Hope!!! I mean, I'm like 80% sure his mask is made of human skin and I know he's committed many, MANY atrocities (that dancing puppet diorama of adult corpses was... something lmao), but ALSO... he's very polite, easily the nicest of the Delightful Children 2.0. He fixed their air conditioners and chairs and stuff and he's a good boi deep down kind of. Minus the murder I mean. And he has floppy sleeves and likes crafts and the fact that he literally wants ppl to hate him and doesn't think he's worthy of love slaughters my feelings 😭 He's like G/undham but EVEN SADDER and therefore he will be my favourite no matter what awful shit he's guaranteed to pull in the future akdkfk. I'm terrified bc I know in my gut I'll probably be responsible for his suffering if each boss battle is like the red-haired kid's and I'M NOT READY TO DO THAT TO HIM HHHH. I desperately want one of the other gremlin kids to be his friend (maybe the pink or blue one???) PLEASE JUST LET ONE BE NICE TO HIM. LET HIM BE HAPPY. I love that she's the fighter and I look forward to seeing what devastation she'll wreak 👿 She and M/onaca would be cute tbh (but again, I'm sure M/onaca will Ruin Her. Plz run pink child your devotion is going to be for naught c':)

Blue boy: He's a cute, composed boi and I feel bad for him lol. You just know he's going to absolutely snap towards the end. He seems like the smartest and most likely to succeed, which means he's gonna get screwed over big time. I like that he kind of babysits the other gremlins. RIP his crush on M/onaca, he's gonna get his heart broken. Also watching him talk shit to N/agito gives me such life y'all don't even know lmao. Those milkshakes were garbage and he should feel bad.

Red boy: Kinda annoying AF to me personally, but I do feel horrible for him. The scene where he's so desperate to stop his hand from shaking that he bashes it until he breaks it while K/omaru was begging and crying for him to stop was hard af to sit through, GOD. Everything about that scene was just hhhhh

I'm legit so scared to see these other kids break down after that, like goddamn... I don't wanna know what they've been through but also I do ajdjglk. Damn these game creators snipping my heartstrings, I just wanted to make robot bears dance dude 😭

Jeremy Heere is having a Pretty Shitty Day.

The morning began with a freshman spilling coffee in Jeremy’s lap on the bus. That should’ve been a warning sign, now that he thinks about it, that it was going to be a Pretty Shitty Day. Between second and third period, Rich Goranski shoved Jeremy into a locker and asked if he’d pissed himself. At lunch, Jeremy accidentally threw his math homework in the trash with the remnants of his lunch and had to go to class empty-handed. He mixed two chemicals incorrectly in Chemistry and the class had to move to a different lab so the room could be cleansed of toxins. At the end of the day, Christine Canigula bumped into him in the hallway and instead of apologizing, Jeremy gaped at her for three seconds before she walked away, probably creeped out of her mind.

After such a shitty day, Jeremy walked home from school and dug fruitlessly through his backpack for fifteen minutes before coming to the conclusion that he left his key in his room. He’s locked out. Of course, the one time he forgets his key is one of the rare instances in which he stays with his mom for the weekend, and that’s already terrible enough in and of itself. Reluctantly, he pulls out his phone (of course he forgot to charge it the night before, so it’s only at 21%) and sends his mom a text to inform her that he’s locked out.

He’s not expecting an answer, though.

It takes a lot for Jeremy to classify a day as a Pretty Shitty Day, because most of his days are spent uncomfortable and awkward as it is. Sometimes, though, things just stack up until he’s teetering on the brink of a panic attack before first period even ends, and that’s when the day earns the Pretty Shitty Day title.

It’s a stupid thing for him to cry over. Jeremy had been locked out of the house before, but now it feels like such a punch in the face. He has a terrible day and he can’t even go hole up in his room for the remainder of it. He feels even more like a loser than he thought was humanly possible as he sits on the front steps of his mom’s house and sniffles into the sleeve of his cardigan.

At the very least, he can take comfort in the fact that the only people who live in his mom’s neighborhood are old, deaf people. There’s no one around to watch him weep to himself like a fucking idiot.

That is, until Jeremy notices someone.

What looks to be a red speck bikes around the corner onto the street Jeremy’s mom lives on. The street is long and vacant, and the speck is rapidly becoming more identifiable. Jeremy doesn’t mean to stare, but he watches nonetheless as the person on the bike becomes a boy with black hair and a big, red hoodie. He’s not sitting on the bike, but rather riding it while standing, like some kind of dangerous hooligan. Jeremy’s eyes linger for a moment too long and the boy on the bike notices him.

Jeremy ducks his head, hiding his face in his knees in hopes that the boy will just keep going and not spare Jeremy’s creepiness another thought. He holds his breath and waits five, six, seven, eight seconds and just when he thinks the biker is gone, he hears a voice: “Hey.”

Jeremy whips his head up and, lo and behold, the boy on the bike is standing in the middle of the street, still straddling his bike, and looking at Jeremy very attentively. Jeremy blinks at him, jaw slack, and Boy on the Bike must take this as an invitation to continue: “Are you okay?”

Is he okay? No. Of course he’s not okay. He’s just had a Pretty Shitty Day, he’s exhausted, he’s sad, and he’s been swallowing a panic attack for the past seven hours. Is he gonna tell all that to some strange teenage boy he’s never spoken to before? Of course not.

“I’m fine,” Jeremy finally says, in spite of how puffy his eyes must look and how evident his trembling hands are.

Boy on the Bike doesn’t bite. “No, you’re not. You’re crying.”

Jeremy brings a hand to his cheek and finds that he really is still crying. He hadn’t even noticed. “I guess I am,” he says, mostly to himself, but Boy on the Bike hears him nonetheless.

“Are you okay?” Boy on the Bike asks again, and Jeremy doesn’t know what the fuck comes over him, but he answers:

“No. N-No, I’m not.”

Jeremy thinks he might be going crazy. That might be okay, though, because Boy on the Bike must be crazier. Crazy enough to get off his bike, wheel it up the driveway of Jeremy’s mom’s house, rest it against the house, walk over to Jeremy, and take a seat on the steps next to him.

“Why are-- What’re you--”

“You were sad. I’d feel bad if I just left you like that.”

Jeremy blinks at him and then, incredulously, bursts into a fit of giggles. Boy on the Bike looks at him, puzzled, and Jeremy wants nothing more than to stop laughing, but he can’t. “I’m sorry--” he gasps. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry-- I’m not laughing at you, I promise--”

Boy on the Bike gives him a confused smile and waits for Jeremy’s giggles to die out. “You good, dude?”

“I’m…” Jeremy coughs into his sleeve and squares Boy on the Bike with a look. “I’m J-Jeremy… dude.”

Now it’s Boy on the Bike’s turn to laugh, which he does, hard and unashamed. Surprisingly, though, Jeremy doesn’t feel like he’s being laughed at. It’s not the same sly, under-the-breath giggle people do when they’re talking about him behind his back. It’s not the same harsh, sarcastic laugh bullies do when they’re calling him names. Boy on the Bike has a beautiful, contagious laugh. Jeremy can’t stop looking at him and can’t stop himself from laughing, too.

“Sh-Shut up!” Jeremy squeaks through his own laughter. His voice cracks on the “up” and that only makes Boy on the Bike laugh even harder. “You’re mean! I thought you were here to make me feel better.”

Only he’s already made Jeremy feel better.

Boy on the Bike eventually sobers up enough to articulate himself. “Jeremy, huh?” he asks, and Jeremy nods. “Nice to meet you, Jeremy. I’m Michael.”

Jeremy smiles at him. Michael. “Nice to meet you, too, Michael.” Michael, Michael, Michael. It’s a good name. “Thanks for, uh, y’know… stopping to talk to me. That was really cool of you. I could’ve been, like, a serial killer or something.”

Michael pulls a face and Jeremy is quick to inform him that he is not, in fact, a serial killer. “I didn’t really peg you as the serial killer type. I don’t know how many serial killers can be found crying and locked out of their houses.”

“How’d you know I was locked out?”

“Well, Jer,” Michael says sagely, but Jeremy can only think about the nickname he’s already been given. “I don’t know about you, but whenever I’m down in the dumps, the only place I wanna cry is buried under a pile of blankets and my own sadness.”

Jeremy sighs longingly. “That’s exactly where I wanna be.”

Michael places a hand on Jeremy’s shoulder (it’s heavy and warm and comforting and Jeremy inexplicably wants to lean his whole body against Michael’s and find out if the rest of him feels that way, too) and gives it a few small rubs as he speaks, “You wanna tell me what’s wrong?”

“O-Oh,” Jeremy falters, momentarily incapable of forming words with his mouth. “I wouldn’t wanna bother you, Mi--”

“Dude, are you stupid?” Michael asks, with no malice. “I wouldn’t come sit with you if I didn’t wanna help you out, buddy. C’mon, lay it on me.”

Jeremy’s heart flips into his throat and he swallows hard before starting up on the tale of his Pretty Shitty Day. He tells Michael all about the coffee, Rich, his math homework, Chemistry class, and Christine. He tells Michael that he’s had a terrible day and he’s wanted to cry since seven in the morning and now he’s locked out of his mom’s house, which is so much worse than being at his dad’s because his mom doesn’t even care about him and--

“S-Sorry,” Jeremy says abruptly. Michael hasn’t stopped listening, nor has he moved his hand from Jeremy’s shoulder. “My mom’s, uh, a whole ‘nother can of worms.”

Michael nods and doesn’t press. “Next time, maybe.”

“Next time?” Jeremy asks, finding that his voice is suddenly too soft, too vulnerable.

“Next time.” He says it like a promise. He gives Jeremy a chance to steady his breathing before speaking again. “This is your mom’s house?”

“Mhm.”

“You don’t see her much, huh?”

Jeremy shakes his head.

“So you don’t live around here..?” Michael sounds almost disappointed.

“N-No, but I can give you my--” Jeremy catches himself. “Oh, my God, I was about to give you my home address. You’re, like, basically a stranger.” Michael doesn’t feel like a stranger, though. Michael feels like the closest thing he’s had to a friend in a long, long time.

“Oh!” Michael says, actually looking a little flustered at the notion. “No, I couldn’t ask for that--” He hesitates, looking down at his hands and fidgeting with his fingers before willing the words out of his mouth, “B-But I could, uh-- I could ask for your number-- Y’know, like, if you ever need to talk-- I just-- I mean, it’s totally cool if you don’t want to--”

Jeremy bumps his knee against Michael, who looks up at him sheepishly. “Gimme your phone, loser.”

Michael fumbles his hand around in the front pocket of his hoodie before fishing out his cell phone (a clunky old Android, which Jeremy makes note to make fun of him for in the future) and handing it over.

Jeremy punches his number in and Michael peers over his shoulder as he types in “Jeremy Heere.” “You gotta put in an emoji,” Michael says firmly.

Jeremy looks at him and raises an eyebrow. “How come?”

“All my contacts have emojis. Don’t mess with the flow, bro.”

Jeremy rolls his eyes, but scrolls through the emojis nonetheless. “Android emojis are ugly,” he comments absently, earning an offended shove from Michael. Eventually, Jeremy settles on the video game controller emoji. “There,” he says, satisfied with his decision as he hands the phone back over to Michael. “Happy?”

“Very much so,” Michael says, almost as if he doesn’t realize it, as he pockets his phone. Jeremy’s heart flutters. “Now I know that you’re not only a friendless geek, but you’re a friendless geek who spends all his time playing video games.”

That one hurt a little bit. Michael's so cool, Jeremy could tell. Michael probably has lots of friends at whatever school he goes to and probably won't even bother texting a loser like Jeremy. Jeremy must have wilted, because Michael rushes to reassure him that he was just kidding. “I have no room to talk. I do the same thing. I’m the resident friendless stoner at my school.”

Jeremy straightens up. “N-Not anymore!”

“What d’you--”

“You’re not friendless. Not anymore.”

Michael stares at him and Jeremy thinks he’s going to laugh again, but then he does something much better. Michael lunges forward and buries Jeremy in a hug and Jesus Jewish Christ, hugging Michael is so much better than how Jeremy imagined it’d be. He’s warm and soft all over, and when Jeremy noses against Michael’s shoulder, he smells like pine and laundry detergent.

“Thank you,” Michael breathes. Jeremy’s thinking the same thing. He decides maybe it was worth having a Pretty Shitty Day, if he got to meet Michael.
