Since this letter is from Reiner, and they do have a taboo dynamic (GO ELDIANS X MARLEYANS) I wondered how Reiner would write his letters, and remembered that little thing that he did in the Lost Girls OVA.

So for what they'd do,,, In addition to the gifts specifically,which I answered here, I figure it should go like this usually, assuming it's a few good years into it, can work for any, canon compliant main timeline, school caste or any modern au:

"you got some explaining to do." Be it if still at home or working or studying she just opens the door at probably early enough hour and a surprise visit: big blond man standing there with his hands clasped behind his back as if he's a professional bodyguard formally escorting her to some fancy event. Probably even dressed like he's going for one And the smirk of 'Hope you weren't expecting me to miss it like that'.

That just gets Evelyn blink twice, do one plus one yet again and start laughing sweetly- while Reiny gives a loud sigh of fake disappointment as if it's his birthday being forgotten (actually it's far more than he'd usually care for his own 🤧🥹) before it switched to laughter as well.

In that case she gets a quick preparation, making a special includion of a pendant he got her last year. (Won't openly admit it but the sight of it clutches at his heart :"). )

Maybe she should've connected the dots with those out of the blue no context given questions of his thrown around throughout the last month.

Like,,, on what's an ideal hour for her; any restruant she's fond of or curious to try; name a band she likes and if they have any concert soon, favourite play or movie they can go to or watch at his place...

If she's feeling outgoing that day after all that some dance can be arranged too 🤧

That said evy really hopes he doesn't just plan it all at once considering the gifts alone must've taken a great effort. But he assures her it's really just whatever she's interested in doing.

On the last one, reading the black distinctive blocks script on it forming a dedication all for her makes her blush to a point her cheeks hurt and she has to cover her mouth. Mumbling a soft 'thank you' in response only to add 'it's probably not nearly enough to everything you g-' only to get paused by a kiss on her cheek and Reiner cooing a " yes it is" awfully close

Honestly it's volumes upon volumes to her. More than all she really needs, and wants, and could ask for (⁠人⁠ ⁠•͈⁠ᴗ⁠•͈⁠)

But before any of that they have hours and the whole day ahead after all. So neither would really refuse just a nice walk at a calmer and more private spot first. And maybe even later when on the way back.

An arranged marriage AU— Levi was forced to do it to make an alliance with the nobles, and he is pissed. When he sees her on their wedding day, he finds her attractive, but he is still peeved by the fact that he was forced into this. He concludes that it will take him some time to get over, in the meantime he wants some space and will keep his distance. A couple of weeks into the marriage and Evelyn feels disappointed by his cold and dismissive attitude. Feeling lonely and isolated, she one day strikes up a (friendly and polite) conversation with one of his cadets, (Reiner maybe) not knowing that Levi was watching. He is enraged when he returns to their room later, deciding to show her what a real man is, if she wants to know that badly.

Thirty fucking years old and still treated like a damn child. Those were the only thoughts going through Levi's head while he dressed for his own wedding.

He never considered himself the marrying type, there was an unfortunate history of those he got close to dying in horrific ways. Due to this he was hesitant to even considering a thing like marriage, besides, he had no time for a woman. Without demanding they were? He would never have a life again except to hear a woman whining about everything.

But this couldn't be avoided now. Considering the position of the Scouts currently, meaning the dethroning of the imposter king and coronation of Queen Historia, he desperately needed to be in the noble's good graces. The Scouts had to be in the noble's good graces.

All of this was Erwin's idea, if the nobles had someone of influence in the Scouts like Levi wed to one of their daughters then the noble's would have to support the Survey Corps' cause. Even the Commander was still searching for options himself.

To Levi, it was distasteful to treat the girls like marketed meat, there for whoever had the hunger to buy it. But a high-standing noble's daughter had just turned eighteen, and Erwin had made the arrangements for Levi so that he never had to meet the girl until the wedding day. It didn't sit well with him, but he would take a wife over the scratch of the noose rope around his neck if the nobles pushed to regain control and execute all the officers.

At least Erwin had done Levi the favor of finding a girl shorter than him, how humiliating would it be to have his wife tower over him like most men and women did. She was pretty, and pretty nervous, the hand he took to seal their vows was shaking like a leaf. Did she want this any more than he did? Or was she also sent to do this by someone in authority over her? While the officiant rambled on about the commitment of marriage Levi couldn't help but sigh, bored. So he took the time to examine his young wife. How did she feel about being married to a man nearly fifteen years her senior? At least her family wasn't like most who married their daughters off by their first cycle, or tried to. Levi couldn't stand to deal with a child.

The ceremony and reception flew by, Levi familiarizing himself with the liquor than with his wife. Even that night, he only consummated the marriage as was his duty. Sure, she was most likely terrified of the unknown, but that wasn't his problem, his problem was to deal with her as best he could.

Now he could get on with life, and ignore her.

What had she done to displease him? Evelyn had tried everything to gain Levi's favor. After their wedding night she had been left yearning for more, she had no idea that's what intimacy would feel like, and from a man like Levi, the heart-throb of the Walls? She was excited to marry him. Leading up to the wedding she had been so worried about making a good impression, and while he didn't speak to her the day of the wedding, she hoped he enjoyed her on the night. But it seems even in that he was displeased.

This was not what she imagined marriage to be like. She was alone, with no friends, no husband, nothing. Since that night, Levi hadn't touched her, and Evelyn was no where near bold enough to initiate with him, what if he rejected her? She would die with embarrassment. No matter how desperate and needy she got, she would never stoop that low and humiliate herself further.

Weeks of loneliness was finally broken by a message delivered. Her husband desired for her to come and spend the day with him at work, she was to bring his lunch over and remain with him until he came home.

She was overjoyed, her patience had finally paid off and now he was paying attention to her! It was worth it, she could finally have that man she missed on the wedding night. Thinking this, Evelyn made sure to take great care of her appearance before leaving, determined to win him back.

"Levi?" She ventured into his office, her heart pounding.

"Enter." He didn't even look up.

Evelyn carefully sets the basket of food down on his desk, waiting for some kind of greeting.

Levi continues to ignore her and go about his work until he finally looks up, as if irritated by her presence. "Well? Must I occupy you all the time?"

Heat went to her face. "No- I'm sorry-"

"Go to the mess hall and fetch me some tea, and not the shit they put out for the cadets, go into the kitchen and have them make it the way I like. Can you handle that?"

She looks down, ashamed. "Yes I can."

"Then get out of my sight."

Trying to salvage her pride, Evelyn does as he wishes, trying to follow signs and spoken directions to the mess hall, the whole place full during the lunch hour with cadets. Most of the officers preferred the quiet of their offices so it was almost solely low-ranking soldiers.

Evelyn tried to hurry, giving the kitchen Levi's orders before waiting with growing embarrassment. How foolish she must look right now. The wife of an officer sent to do the work of a common soldier. She could curl up in a ball.

As she turned back with the cup in hand a large body knocked it right out of her hands. Evelyn stared up at the guilty man.

"That was for Captain Levi-"

Slight fear comes across his face. "Shit- I'll get him another. I'm so sorry, please don't tell him what I did-"

She bent to help him clean up the shattered cup, their fingers touching accidentally. It was like a shock ran through them both.

The boy, probably barely any younger than her smiles awkwardly. "I haven't seen you around here before."

"I'm Evelyn Ackerman, Captain Levi's wife."

"I'm Reiner Braun, nice to meet you Mrs. Ackerman."

"Oh please, just Evelyn."

His smile widens. "Alright, just Evelyn."

What the fuck was taking her so long!? Never trust the competence of women, they always managed to fuck it up.

Levi rose from his chair angrily, determined to get his tea himself. All that woman did was disappoint him. He blamed her for his quick marriage, had there been no eligible girls then he could have postponed Erwin until the entire crisis died down and he would still be a free man. It was all that little bitch's fault.

As he rounded the corner he was shocked by a laugh. Peeking around the corner he saw his wife engaging with Braun, and actually laughing. It was a sound he hadn't heard from her yet, but it was rather pleasant. But he should be making her do that, not some random punk.

Jealousy turned his blood to ice, a calm hatred coming over him. Dead cadets would rattle whatever good terms the nobles were on with the Scouts and his marriage would be for nothing. This wouldn't stand, he wouldn't be cuckolded by some impudent brat. He had been neglectful but that was his business. If it meant his wife was prepared to bend over for any man who showed her attention then he would have to remedy that immediately.

She would pay for this.

Finally he could take it no longer.

"I saw you having a interesting conversation with Cadet Braun."

"Oh, yes. He bumped into me and then we started talking. He's sweet."

The nonchalant tone makes him want to rip out her vocal cords. How dare she think it was no big deal.

"He's not your husband."

"Yes I know but-"

"He's not even a man."

"It was entirely polite and respectful Levi I promise."

"So you say. You think I can trust a word of what a woman says?"

In a moment he's on her, her eyes wide with fear.

"Levi you're scaring me-"

"Do you know what I real man is? Do you!? Clearly not, so I'll have to show you, since you want to know so badly."

"Levi please-"

"Shut up. Crying won't earn you my mercy."

Bertholdt by Tvieandli - Bertholdt/Reiner, dark content This is hands-down the best AOT fic I've ever read, and sadly it has been unfinished since 2014. !! WARNINGS !! there is a lot of dark content in this fic, such as: underage, slurs, dubious consent, conversion therapy, physical/emotional abuse, eating disorders, and probably more. Please don't read this fic, get upset by the content, and then leave hurtful messages to the author -- I don't think any of my followers would do that, but if someone else stumbles across this, just please be respectful. Know your own limits and boundaries. Anyway. I randomly stumbled across this author because I was looking for Annie/Marcel fics 💀 I didn't even like Reibert at the time, but I decided to give this fic a shot and I was blown away. I really like darker, angsty content because I like having that emotion be invoked through a piece of literature, and this one really did that for me. I just love this fic so much and it inspires me to be better.

softly by TuesdayTerrible - Eren/Jean Like I said above, I just love fics that tear my heart out and this one really does it to me. I actually re-read it quickly when I grabbed the link and now I'm sobbing again. I love heartache and bittersweet love and stories like this just inspire me so much.

There are also fics from other fandoms that inspire me that sadly no longer exist or I can't find them, but I guarantee you that they're all equally as gut-wrenching. There's one that I remember from the SHINee fandom during the LiveJournal days that was Onew/Minho where Minho (I think) was a robot that was ordered to Onew's house after.... something... idk but anyway, it was very sad and I bawled like a baby and when I think about fanfics that I've read and loved in the past, I always remember that one, even if I can't recall details.

So Eren isn’t really into drag but Reiner sure is and Eren stopped backstage at pride to say hi to him while Armin went to grab a lemonade, and Reiner did his annual “won’t you join us?” routine and Eren gave his usual “no thank you” response, but Reiner just begged to do Eren’s eyes cuz “they’re just so ferocious, let me sharpen them just a little? It’ll only take a second, then I’ll leave you alone!” and Eren just sighed and said “Aghh, fine.” and Reiner gave him some sharp looking eyes and Eren looked in the mirror and said “Oh wow... that does look nice.. but now my eyebrows are kinda underwhelming, can you do those too?” and Reiner said of course, and then Eren said “...but now my lips are a little off color..” and well... one tweak at a time, and before you know it, Eren is in full drag and really enthusiastic about what he sees in the mirror, so grateful Reiner really did have “the perfect dress for him” hahah. And Armin comes back much later without a lemonade cuz some homophobic heckler was giving him shit and Eren, still in full drag, mind you, consoles his boyfriend, (who thinks he’s beautiful btw~), and says he’ll gladly teach that guy a lesson for him if he wants, but Armin tells him not to punch him, just talk to him. So Eren reluctantly promises to just talk. Eren storms over to the guy, heels clacking on the pavement and dress fluttering through the breeze, and through words, demands an apology. The guy refuses. And Eren grows angry and decides well, Eren may have promised not to punch this asshole, but Evelyn sure didn’t so she slips a big gaudy gold ring over her finger and decks the guy in the face, and then hugs her Armin real tight and then they dance the night away, the end~ x)

Reiner leans back with a shy smile. "Well for starters she's short, really short, but she's also fun, and super sweet, an impressive fighter, and pretty on top of that. Like the ultimate package."

"How did you meet her?"

"When I was under cover she was one of the Scout officers, I didn't get to see a whole lot of her since she was part of Captain Levi's squad, but still. As far as Island Devils go she's one of the sweetest people I've ever met."

"Does she know who you are?"

Now Reiner frowns, apparently a sore spot for him. "Yes she does, when we fled I exposed who I was to her...and she said she hated me."

She tries to hide her relief with a deep breath, it wouldn't help anything to outwardly show how glad she was of that.

"So you'll never see her again."

"Until we return to Paradis to reclaim the Founder it seems unlikely." His mood changed, his tone becoming more and more depressed.

"That's too bad. She sounds wonderful."

"Yeah...she was." Reiner rests his elbow on the table, staring into the wooden pattern. "By now she's probably married off to Captain Levi, no screw that, why should I respect him with a title, to Levi."

"Who's Levi?" She didn't know who he was but if he was able to give Reiner closure with this unattainable crush she'd be thankful to him.

"Selfish bastard. Captain of the Survey Corps and man does he abuse that. Always unfairly punishing everyone and demanding respect." He shakes his head. "Creep watched Evelyn like some kind of sick stalker. There were many times I got punished for being anywhere near her. Asshole."

"Maybe you just didn't understand their dynamic?"

"Impossible, it was so obvious he was sick in the head. But no one saw it but me."

Bravely she reaches out to touch his hand. "It'll be okay Reiner, you can move on now. Forget about what happened their and live the rest of your life in peace."

"The rest of my life." He scoffs. "What short time I have left."

The thought made her wince, but he had a point. If she didn't try harder he'd be killed and they'd never have that life she dreamed of, even if it was for a short time.

"That's why you need to make the most of it."

Reiner nods, taking in her words. "You're right, sitting here sulking over what could have been won't get me anything but wasted time." A smile comes to his face. "Thanks kid, you always make me believe in myself."

She blushed a little at the nickname, even after all of this he still saw her as the same girl from their childhood. "No problem, you're my friend and I want to help you."

Reiner's face turns solemn again but before he can speak his mind a soldier comes up to their table.

"Reiner Braun, Commander Magath has sent for you."

"Right now? Is it urgent?"

"He said to come right away."

Reiner offers an apologetic glance before standing and hurrying to follow the young soldier, leaving her alone.

She couldn't put her finger on it, but she had a bad feeling about all of this.

A wave of nausea announced Evelyn's return to consciousness. How long she had been out she wasn't sure. It was too long. She had been used, dumped, and now was utterly alone.

She took this opportunity to take in her surroundings. Looking at everything to see if there was a an escape route she could secure. But the reality was this was tiny basement, cramped with little more than the bed she occupied now and a table and chair, the one she had been in when this whole ordeal started. Other than that it was completely empty but sterilely clean. Like a hospital.

Evelyn was about to start her one and only plan, scream until someone freed her when the door from up a set of stairs opened. She backed away into the corners of the room as Levi marched down the stairs already looking weary of her rebellion.

"Ah. You're awake. Finally. Sleep well?"

"Please Captain, just let me go- I won't tell anyone anything I swear-"

"So now we get to it. You did hear something. Tell me and I'll consider it."

She burst into tears. "I don't even know what I heard. About some place or party or person named Marley, Reiner and Bertholdt, a mission and a secret identity. But nothing I could piece together I swear!"

Through her tears she didn't notice his expression darkening the more she spoke. But by the time she wiped her eyes that his confident attitude had melted away into something more sinister.

"I see. Not very much then." He turns from her and takes something out of his pocket, placing it on the table.

"Yes I swear." She tries to see what it is but his body covers it. "And what I know I won't tell anyone I swear on my life! Please just let me go-"

"Oh I know you won't tell anyone my dear." He turns back to her, and she can see what looks to be the outline of handcuffs and a gag on the table before him, a small bottle there as well. "Because you're not leaving."

"But why I promised! And you said yourself I don't know much-"

"Much, true. But enough, yes."

As he stalked closer she tried to back up, met with cold concrete. "Please-"

Suddenly his hands pry open her mouth, and force something inside. She tries to fight back, to not swallow but he cuts off her airways with his hands.

"Swallow. Swallow you filthy slut like you'll swallow my cum-"

Eventually she does, soon recognizing the same drugs he had given to her before. The world going loopy as she registers the handcuffs, the gag, and more pain and pleasure mixed. Was this to be her life? She dreaded it and what would become of her.

There was promises of marriage when this was all over, so that their children wouldn't be treated differently when they grew. But Evelyn knew better, she doubted if he would ever marry her. Get out, get out, that's all she could think about. It was gone, everything Evelyn wanted was gone. Where even was Reiner? Was he killed too? All the people crushed by rubble, it was just like the Titans all over again. She was too late, she didn't stop whatever was supposed to happen from happening. So many dead, all because of her, and now Levi was here, he was coming to take her away. The terror gripping her is finally what made her stop, Gabi's hand slipping out hers.

"What are you doing? We're supposed to be running-"

A shake of the head clears her thoughts enough to form a stupid lie. "I-...I should go help the others- they're in danger and I have to help-!" Evelyn sprints in the opposite direction, pretending to return to the heated battle. When in reality she ducks down the nearest alleyway, forcing her head between her legs and sitting on the ground to calm her breathing, her own vomit staining the ground. She was a damn coward, countless battles she had fought in her career, a hardened veteran, one of the few who made it back, and because of one man she was shaking in fear. "Get ahold of yourself-"

"Miss? Miss are you alright? We can bring you to safety-"

Evelyn looks into the face of a Marley soldier, but all she sees in the rifle in his hand, with that she could keep Levi away. A thought comes to mind, a plan racing through her mind. "I can't get up, I think the rubble injured my leg-"

The soldier looks around before pulling a wobbly crutch from the body of a dead civilian. "Will this help?"

She nods and takes it, standing in mock pain. Now facing forward he can see the armband Reiner gave her, while it was red like the other warriors, the soldier still made a face of disgust. "Come with me Eldian."

The moment he turns, she raises the crutch as high as she can and brings it down on his head with the most force she can muster, the sickening crack on his skull ringing in her ears.

The man falls, and Evelyn uses the situation to grab the rifle and fire a shot off into his head, no witnesses, no one Levi could find and torture for the truth. Sure she was thinking a little too far ahead but she didn't doubt Levi's methods of returning her to his clutches. She takes off, running and running, not sure where else to go but away from the chaos.

But even if she did, where would she go? As long as they both lived he'd come looking for her. Every corner of the earth would be scoured until she was safe again his bed. Evelyn stopped dead in her tracks and stared down at the gun, what if...during all this Levi was killed in action by an unknown bullet? She'd be safe, she could go home..

Hope of a better life propelled her to the top of that building, there was no scope but she had a full clip of bullets. She searched for him among the screams and blood, Eren's carnage almost made her lose her nerve of being so close to the frontline. But the glimpse of her husband focused her once again.

A shot was fired, and missed, if only he would stop moving she could aim properly. Another shot and missed, and another, and another. She was desperate, not taking the time to aim as she should as the thought of returning to him filled her mind. The dreaded click of an empty chamber made her freeze, there had to be more! She couldn't be out! Not now! Evelyn threw the gun down on the roof tiles, frustrated, she had to find more.

"It's one of those dirty devil warriors." A voice from behind her said.

She turns, three soldiers close in on her, she couldn't get down now without breaking a leg, or her neck. How stupid did she have to be to not check her surroundings? Now she was vulnerable and at the mercy of gravity or the whims of angry men. Slowly Evelyn backed to the edge, she didn't have a plan, what could she do? Her feet struggled to stay on the tip of the roof, before eventually slipping, making her lose her balance and plummet rapidly towards the approaching ground.

The wind whistled in her ears as she fell, maybe finally she would die and be free of this hell. She didn't want to die, but maybe this was a sign that it's what needed to happen. The child in her stomach would perish as well, but maybe that was for the best, if she lived then she could love and nurture it, and not leave it to its cruel father. All this and more rushed through her head, her life achievements, and what little they amounted to.

She hit something, and then she was rising. If this is what the afterlife was it wasn't so bad, warmth and rising towards heaven. She felt...safe. A rare thing to feel.

It lasted until her eyes travelled up, Levi's face not focused on her, but on where they were going. He had snatched her from the paradise of life after death, selfishly wanting to keep her alive long enough to satisfy his desire.

She was set down in the floating ship, Levi taking only a moment to check her for any injury before flying off again. He didn't know, he couldn't have known that she had just tried and failed to kill him, if he did, he wouldn't act so concerned. Or maybe he had changed, but no, the thought was too ridiculous, he could never change.

Levi studied his wife as he took off his gear, the death of his Scouts and even that of Sasha's was irrelevant when it came to her. What had she been doing in Marley? Why hadn't she made contact according to Eren. What kept her so damn busy? The way she avoided eye-contact wasn't helping his suspicions either.

"Evelyn." His voice was stern as he stood beside her.

"Captain." Her voice was cold, unfeeling, like her fear had died down.

His eye twitched before his foot contacted her jaw, busting her lip open and making it bleed, her face would bruise soon. "I don't like your attitude. You're gone for this long and this is how you treat me?"

Evelyn wipes her lip, studying the blood for a moment. "Nice to see you again too honey-"

"Watch it. Keep it up and I'll have you blow me in front of everyone."

To her credit she remains quiet, not daring to push him further but eyeing him with discontent.

"Much better. Now are you hurt anywhere?"

"Just a couple scratches and bruises."

"Glad to hear it, Petra!"

Almost instantly the woman in question appears, most likely waiting for a chance to be near her Captain again. She's all smiles looking at him, but her expressions change a few times when looking at Evelyn. "You called for me Levi?"

"Make sure my wife is fed and kept warm, she's done a lot in the past month." Levi takes his long green military coat and puts it around Evelyn's shoulders. "I'll be back love." With a kiss on the forehead he exits, most likely to interrogate their new prisoner.

The two women scowl at each other, waiting for someone to make the first move.

Eventually Petra does, her arms crossed. "Hungry?"

"Well actually-"

"You know I was actually hoping to talk to you about something."

"I mean, go ahead?"

"Since you've been gone Levi's been kind of, needy- It's obvious that he never gives you a moment's peace does he?"

"I guess you could say so, why?"

"Be honest, you can barely keep up with his appetite. And, in the name of friendship, I've found a way to help get him off your back."

Evelyn is surprised, she always had a sneaking suspicion Petra didn't like her, but now she was willing to make her married life better. "Oh really? What is it?"

"Why don't you think about, opening your marriage?"

She blinks a few times to make sure she heard correctly. "Excuse me?"

"Well then he could have another outlet for his desires and you could get some rest."

"And let me guess, you want that outlet to be you?"

She blushes. "I-I'm not saying that, but I'd be open-"

Evelyn scoffs. "Of course you are, you're just looking to sleep with my husband you fucking whore."

Petra becomes visibly angry, upset that Evelyn would call her out like this. "How dare you! He should've been with me from the start, you just toy with his feelings and don't give him the love he deserves!"

"You don't know a damn thing about my marriage Petra, you don't know what kind of person he is. You don't know the things I know. You're head over heels to a man you've only scratched the surface on, I know who he is, I know what he is. And damn it he's the biggest fucking asshole known to man but I'll be damned if some bitch thinks it's fine to suck his dick when he's got a ring on his finger."

She's shocked and offended that Evelyn threw her love for Levi out the window like that. How dare she, Petra should push her right out the window and rid Levi of this bitch. Even as Evelyn steps in the opposite direction that Levi had come from minutes ago Petra can barely control the rage building up inside her. If only she knew while plotting such murderous thoughts that there was someone on the other side of the door listening in on their conversation.

The one thing Evelyn never missed about the Survey Corps was reports, meaningless hours of eye-witness details surrounding a mission. It felt like no matter how much she described Erwin and Levi were still suspicious of what had exactly gone on, however she couldn't exactly blame them, telling either of them about the pregnancy was out of the question, they couldn't know.

"And you say that Braun offered you a place to stay out of his own free will? What could have been his angle?"

This was the part she kept repeating, while the two had been equally interrogating her when it came to describing her time with Reiner, Levi was deadly quiet.

"That's correct, although I suspect the angle was to win my trust."

Levi stared at his wife, jealousy burning through him, that punk bastard had tried to seduce his wife, he knew it. Taking her in to pounce on her vulnerability. If he ever saw that asshole again he would make sure he would never see another sunrise.

He glanced up and saw a familiar shape filling the small crack in the doorway. Exhaustion had kept either from mentioning the altercation Evelyn had with Petra the night before, and much to his annoyance exhaustion had kept them from doing something else he wanted too, but that was for another time.

"Will you excuse me a minute Commander?"

Erwin nods and Levi takes his leave, quickly stepping into the hall and chasing Petra down the hall.

"Petra wait-"

She turns, sunshine and rainbows as if their last interaction had never happened. "Captain?"

He puts on a mask of embarrassment. "About last time...I'm sorry, I just, reacted. I was testy over Evelyn being gone for so long. I hope there aren't any hard feelings."

She beams. "Of course not-! I understand, I do. And it's okay, it's been rough on you."

"Tell me about it. Ever since she came back-" He sighs. "I don't know, she's not the same."

"Oh?" The lack of concern in her voice is blatant, but he chooses to ignore it.

"She's just been avoiding me, and...I don't know. This isn't the place to talk about it."

Petra boldly touches his arm. "Is there somewhere you'd like to talk about it?"

"Well...she's in for interrogation, so the house will be empty. If you'd like."

Right on schedule she agrees, taking his arm as the two take the short walk home.

When they arrive he sets her down in the living room, choosing to sit beside her and rest his hand on her leg. "It's been a while since it was just us Petra."

Once again her cheeks colour. "Yes it has..."

"Why did we stop?"

"Well, your marriage, it didn't seem right."

He sighs. "My marriage. What a mistake."

"You really think so?"

"If I had known I would be denied my marital rights I would've gone to someone else ages ago."

"Oh you poor thing, you're needy aren't you?" She takes his head in her hands, turning him towards her.

"So needy-" His voice is husky as she brings him in towards her lips. Until suddenly he pulls away. "Wait, not like this. I want it to be special."

"It?" She asks nervously.

"The moment you've been waiting for right?"

"Well, yes-"

"Then wait right there and close your eyes."

She follows his instructions, excited to finally have the moment she's been dreaming of come true. Her, and the love of her life. They could be together and he would leave Evelyn for her. Tingles raced up and down Petra's skin as she heard his footsteps renter the room, although she silently cursed herself for not wearing sexier panties into work today.

"I'm ready for my surprise now Levi." She says, heart racing as she hears him closer, letting out a little giggle. "Aren't you going to say something? Keeping me in suspense here."

Unease fills her, he was quiet, too quiet. Just as she's about to open her eyes his soft hands come to her neck, comforting her instantly. She was so wrong to doubt him.

I forced her to marry me after blackmailing Erwin, claiming anyone else she's crazy if the truth comes out." Again he laughs. "It's kinda nice getting this all out to someone. Thank you."

Petra feels weaker with each second, her attempts to fight back less and less potent.

"When I catch her trying to escape I lock her away, she's my prisoner. And anyone who comes between us, like you, is disposed of." He increases the pressure on her throat. "I've killed twelve people in the past month alone, I guess after you I'll have to break the unlucky number."

She feels herself fading, the image of this perfect man shredded before the stars in her eyes. Her world fading to black at the hands of the man she once loved.

"You got in between us Petra, only I have a right to say those things to my wife. You've insulted her and our marriage for the last time. May the fiery pits of hell open up for you my friend."

Levi drops her limp body, pushing it from the couch to the floor, making quick work of going to the shed and returning with an axe. Swinging blow after blow as he cuts her body to ribbons. Blood splatters everywhere, but in the high of death it barely phases him, this is how far he would go for his beloved.

Evelyn opens the door to the house, she was a little surprised Levi let her walk home alone but she wasn't one to complain about a bit of freedom. It was dark and quiet, it seemed like no one was home at first, until she noticed the flicker of the fireplace in the living room.

"Levi? Are you home?"

As she steps in the room her whole body freezes, the blood, the body, all of it sinking in. She was horrified, but it didn't affect her as much as it should have. Levi's murderous rampages had become normal as of late, and she had killed a maid or two herself.

He sits on the couch in front of the body, smoking, he only did this when he had killed someone, the smoke filling the air hiding his piercing gaze.

"Come here." He motions to her without meeting her eyes.

With nothing to say she complies, sitting beside him on the couch, staring at the disfigured mess that was Petra. He was terrifying, but she knew he would protect her at whatever cost, that was oddly comforting.

Evelyn held her stomach, praying that she could find some way to tame this monster before his child was born.

She ran, trying to escape the inferno that was threatening to destroy them all. How had Reiner's mission failed that horribly? Where was he now? Alive or dead, taken prisoner or rotting in a ditch somewhere, he was gone.

She wiped tears as the realization hit her, their goodbye would be their last and she'd never see him again. Maybe she should just end it all right here, stop so that the Titans could trample her underfoot and that would be the end of it. She could even join Reiner in the afterlife. They could be happy together.

No. He would want her to live, to make the most of the little time she has left since he would never get the same opportunity to grow old and die peacefully. Reiner had lost his will to live, she couldn't let him down by losing hers either. She had to keep fighting.

So she ran on.

Something about her had changed, after sheepishly siding with Levi she seemed to have more resolve, more of a backbone. As if she didn't care what anyone thought about where her loyalties lay. She had used him, and clearly without much remorse.

Reiner deserved it, he had started this mess by kicking down the wall. But still.

The thing was, Evelyn wasn't his problem. If she wasn't willing to help herself then his saviour complex would never get him anywhere but dead in the Ackerman basement. He had given her a way out time and time again, and yet she still ran back to Levi. That wasn't his fault, so why was he putting that on himself? If she wanted to be with him fine, he should move on.

Which was easier than he thought, in these last moments of the world he only thought of his friend. She was kinder to him than anyone, always following him around and hoping to get his attention. His mother had always said that she had a crush on him, but had that changed when he became a huge prick?

She was right, Evelyn did betray him in the end. And Reiner had only yelled at her. He was an asshole and yet he waited until she apologized before saying anything. He should have been the one apologizing, it was his fault. All his fault.

And now she could be dead.

Reiner shook his head, he couldn't let himself think like that. She had to be alive, he just knew it. Her fiery spirit wouldn't allow her to be killed so easily, he knew she'd live on. She was probably waiting for him in Marley right now.

Despite how positive his thoughts, Reiner's stomach still turned as he watched the fires burn.

She had managed to find what little safety she could with the remaining Eldian survivors up on that cliff. They all knew with the remaining military cut down their chances would be slim to live. She and the others could only watch in horror as the footsteps came closer and closer.

And then an airship.

The bright flash of light filled her with hope, there was only one man she knew that would be brave enough to stand against the tide to save humanity.

A true warrior.

Everything came to Reiner in a blur, the fighting, explosives, Eren's Titan head blown clean off, survivors. His mother, family.

She was there. She was alive.

Reiner stared at her through his Titan form, he couldn't give up. Not when that thing started moving toward those he cared about most. Not when Eren stood up to continue his fight.

This was all for her, he wanted her to be happy.

Damnit, she deserved a happy ending. And he cared about her, with everything that they had been through together he cared about her. She couldn't just die, he wouldn't let her. He had to keep fighting.

It was over. Finally this horror was over, they were free. She looked to Reiner laying beside her, slowly waking to the feeling of his fate changed, a fate where he didn't have to die so young as a Titan. They could be free.

But he didn't want her, he had made it clear she was nothing more than a friend. That's all she would ever be to him.

She didn't want him to feel like he had to hang on, that he owed it to her. If he wanted to be happy with this woman then she should respect that and allow him to be with her in this free world. She had to let him go.

Reiner was too busy making sure everyone was alive he didn't notice at first when she gave him distance. But when he did the void of her presence was immense and sat like a weight in his gut. He was frantic to find her, but thankfully she hadn't gone far so he was able to catch up to her quickly.

"Hey- kid- wait-"

"You're free now Reiner, you can live your life how you want with the girl that you love."

"What? No, no I don't want a life with Evelyn."

"Why not? You told me that you were in love with her."

"You're right, I did, but she's different, she not who I thought she was deep down. You were right about everything, all of it. She was a traitor, and she didn't have my best intentions in mind. You were right about everything and I should have listened. I'm sorry."

She was slightly stunned to hear him admit so openly that he was wrong, she didn't expect it. "I forgive you-"

"Listen, when I was up there, getting ready to die a warrior's death, I didn't think about Evelyn, or my mom, or anyone else. I thought about you."

"Yeah, how no matter what happened, I just wanted to see you again. And I don't know if it's a sign but now that I'm free from this curse of a Titan, I want to live life to the fullest, without the hanging threat of death. I'm still so young, I want to really live every moment to it's full potential."

Her eyes well up a little with tears. "You don't know how happy that makes me-"

"And you know what, part of that life is to go out, meets girls, go out with them, and I don't know if it'll be anymore than a one time thing, but I want you to go out with me-"

"Reiner- right now-"

"Well, once the world's somewhat back into place- I'm a big idiot who knows nothing about anything with girls and women but my heart's telling me to go with it, and I want to go with it with you-"

She takes her hand in his.

"Then let's go with it."

The whole way back to this new place Evelyn was supposed to be staying she was numb. It was no surprise that she was pregnant, Levi had kept her locked away for so long filled with cum she should have been expecting this. But nothing could have prepared her for this, nothing could have helped her cope with the idea she was carrying his child, the awful, disgusting man's child.

"You doing okay..?" Reiner's voice had come out of nowhere.

Now he perks up, since her discovery she had barely said two words to him. "Hey don't sweat it. It's the least I could do after all the shit he put you through." Clearly he was uncomfortable talking about Levi, and she couldn't really blame him, it wasn't exactly a sweet subject.

"Hey Reiner?" She ventured.

"Yeah what's up?"

"We were friends, I know it's awkward, but we're on the same side now, right? Can we go back to how things were before all that?"

"Oh yeah, of course, sorry I'm making this weird."

"No it's okay, I'm the weird one." Her ears were burning from how tense and forced their conversations sounded, silence was better for now.

So they continued on, until they stood outside, staring at each other a moment before he opens the door.

"So you live alone?"

"Not exactly-"

Before Evelyn can ask a clarifying question an older woman is waiting at the door, arms crossed and deeply annoyed.

"You look terrible Levi." Erwin broke Levi out of his head of thoughts.

His head raised out of his hands to look up at his Commander, his eyes burning from lack of sleep. "Thanks Erwin you know I value your opinion so highly."

"What happened to you? People are asking questions." He covers his nose. "And you've been drinking."

"No shit." He rakes his hands through his unruly hair. "I didn't think it would be so hard to live without her."

"You can't be serious. This temper tantrum, is because your wife isn't on your beck and call right now?"

"I can't help it, I can'y sleep or function without her."

"If you had upheld your end of the deal and gotten her pregnant this would've never happened. Plus there's Eren, if you had kept him in line he never would've left and we wouldn't have had to send anyone after him."

Levi chooses not to address that one. "Who's asking questions?"

"A few low rank soldiers, but Hange especially."

Levi curses under his breath, that was the last person he needed poking around. Hange knew him, Evelyn, and Erwin better than they knew themselves. While she could be a bit dense sometimes, she'd know if something was wrong.

"What did you say?"

"Well she knows the situation with Eren, but I told her that Evelyn has been gone because she had a nervous breakdown when she found out about Marley's threats. Therefore if Evelyn ever tells Hange the truth she won't believe her. Damage control."

Levi sighs with relief. "Thank you Erwin. I owe you."

"Oh yes you do. I gave you your wife, don't waste it by being a drunken fool. If you're the lonely go find a prostitute or something, I need you back to how you were so when the time comes to go get them you're perky."

"Despite everything I'm a faithful man." He sneers.

"If that continues to affect your work I'll order you to go sleep with someone. What about that Petra Ral? Your assistant? She'd be willing at any moment."

Levi thought of Erwin's suggestion, but Petra wasn't that much to look at, and no one could get him going like his wife could. Ultimately, he rolls his eyes. "Whatever you say Commander."

Erwin points at him. "Get it together, I'm serious. Sleep, get laid, loose the alcohol, whatever it takes. I need you." He leaves before Levi has a chance to stand and salute, almost colliding with Petra.

"Oh C-Commander." She was slightly startled to see him here of all places, sure Levi was his direct subordinate, but he still rarely visited him since the wedding, she hoped it was because he didn't approve of it. Just like he had approved of the idea of Levi having an affair with her, which in and of itself sent goosebumps all over her.

"Petra." He says in greeting, trying to brush past her.

"Wait uhm, sir, could I talk to you a minute." She asks innocently, Levi rarely gave her any information on his marriage, maybe she could squeeze Erwin for the details.

"Of course." He walks a ways with her. "What do you want to talk about?"

"It's...Captain Levi, he's been acting so strange, and usually he opens up to me, but.." She wills tears into her eyes. "He isn't, and I'm worried for him.."

Erwin pauses for a moment. "Levi is just taking it hard that Evelyn is on a mission without him right now. He'll get his act together soon I'm sure, loneliness was something he always had a hard time dealing with."

Warmth fills her, Evelyn was out of the way for who knew how long, perfect for her to swoop up poor lonely, and perhaps drunk Levi. Maybe now she could seduce him and then he'd compare the two and find Evelyn lacking.

"Oh I see, I'll try and lift his spirits Commander." She salutes. "Thank you."

"Of course Soldier." Erwin simply walks away, not giving her large grin a second thought.

Once he was out of sight Petra ran to her barracks, digging out anything remotely sexy to put on. She came across the lingerie she had bought when she made up her mind who the man of her dreams was. She hadn't worn it and wanted Levi to tear it off in a moment of passion.

Over top of that was a lace red dress that made it look like she had cleavage. She cursed Evelyn's larger chest but figured that Levi was to refined to care too much about things like that. Her hair was teased into a small clip on the back of her head, an easy access to hickeys. She wanted everyone to know she had given her virginity to the most perfect man alive.

With a last application of bright red lipstick she pictured the red rim around the base of his dick, she knew Evelyn couldn't deep throat him like she would, in that she'd be better. With a shaking hand she knocked on his office door, most everyone had gone home or to bed by now, but she saw the light at the bottom of his door. Without a wife to go home to right now he was dedicating himself to work, as he always pushed himself too hard when no one stopped him.

"Come in."

Now was the time, now her dreams would come true, everything she had hoped for was finally happening. The door swung open with a tiny squeak, getting his attention. His head was buried in his hands, bottle of liquor open with a shot glass in front of him, and he might have even been crying.

"Petra? Why are you dressed like that?" He seems confused before his eyes widen. "Petra-"
