Short life update because there is a lot going on:
finally driving back to my uni tomorrow to get my stuff. My university closed in March and I’m finally able to go back now.
waiting to see if an internship will happen. It is currently on hiatus due to covid. In the meantime I’ve been babysitting
My parents sold their house, so until they move into the new house (in november) they (and me for the summer) will be living with relatives. Once I go back to uni in the fall I’ll be in my apartment
In fact, everyone in my immediate family is moving sometime in the next several months, and some members of my extended family are also moving. It’s all just a big coincidence that we’re all moving within the same time frame, so it’s making for a hectic time.
That being said, if I’m not as active here that’s why. I’m still lurking and reblogging stuff, but I may not be as active in the bookblr community.

I wanted to ask if you had any advice on making a booklr ?
Hi anon! I think I should point out before I give any tips that I’m still relatively new to bookblr (I made this blog around mid March). The welcome has been amazing though, and I have figured a few things out since joining , so here are the tips I have:
1) The queue system on tumblr is really great, it allows for consistent posting throughout the day, not just when you’re online, so people who follow you are exposed to your content, but don’t get annoying blocks of your posts.
2) TAGS ARE EVERYTHING, especially when you’re starting out. It’s the only way people are ever going to find your blog! Have a look at some popular posts and see what the creator originally tagged them as to get an idea of what you should be using.
3) Join a photo challenge! There are some great ones floating around, and if you can’t find one on tumblr you like, have a look for one on instagram. They’re easily transferable from one platform to another. You don’t have to have any fancy equipment, just your phone and some books will do!
4) Talk our books! What are you reading? What’s your favourite? What do you hate?
5) This isn’t majorly important, but try and find a nice theme for your blog. Search around a bit, there are some really amazing theme creators out there who don’t charge a dime and have themes far, far better than some of the paid tumblr ones.
6) Be nice, reply to posts, start conversations. Bookblr is a amazing place, and the people on it are generally really kind and friendly.
That’s all I have for now, but I’d love to hear some tips from any of my followers if they have any!
Welcome to bookblr 📖❤️📚📖

11 Tag
I was tagged by the wonderful @lost-in-a-story, thank you so much!!
rules: answer the 11 questions and then ask 11 people 11 new questions
1. What are some of your favorite book friendships?  I’m a big fan of friend groups who both tease and support each other, like in Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom, The Raven Cycle, or Harry Potter.
2. What genre do you read most?  currently: academic articles :P  in general: it’s difficult to say, I’d like to think that I have a pretty balanced taste
3. What is your favorite TV show based of a book? BBC Sherlock (up until S4 at least)
4. What is your least favorite book adaptation? Percy Jackson
5. What is your comfort book? Probably The Martian
6. Do you write? and if yes, what sort of stuff? (it counts as 1 :P) only academic stuff for uni :P
7. How do you organize your bookshelf? fiction: alphabetically by the authors’ last names  nonfiction: by color
8. Any funny bookish stories? I’m not sure I have a funny one.... But I once did a summer book club with a few of my friends, and everybody was allowed to suggest and select a book that we’d read. Turns out that everybody enjoyed the book that they themselves selected least and actually liked one of the other reads more :D
9. Any books from your younger years that you still love to read? I don’t really re-read
10. Favorite classic? (if you have one?) This is a tough one! I’m gonna give you three: Far from the Madding Crowd, Hamlet, and The Mill on the Floss
11. Would you rather read a book that makes you laugh, or cry? While I really enjoy both, I think I prefer sad books that still make me laugh. A sad book is good.  A sad book that’s also funny is great. :D
edit: Aaaaand I just saw I was also tagged by @just-another-bookblr and @aimeereadsalot so I’m gonna answer their questions too (but since it’ll get long, it’ll be under a cut)
@just-another-bookblr‘s questions:
1. What’s the book you’ve read the most? I’ve read a handful of books twice, which is the most times I’ve ever read a book haha (the books were Generation X, Girlfriend in a Coma, The Fault in Our Stars, and Hamlet I think) 2. Short, medium or long books? It doesn’t really matter as long as it fits the story!
3. Worst stereotypical book? This is really difficult, I don’ know!
4. Do you like YA? Why (not)? I don’t think you can make generalized assumptions about a whole genre. There are great YA books and there are horrible YA books :D
5. Do you read eBooks? rarely
6. How much money (roughly) have you spent on books in your life?  oh boy, I have no idea? I’d say maybe around 2k so far?
7. Do you read library books?  only academic ones, because those are the only ones I have access to
8. Do dog’s ears break your heart or don’t you care about them? (How well do you treat your books?) I don’t mind when other people have them in their books, but I don’t really like them in mine.
9. Do you spend more time on tumblr than reading or more time reading than on tumblr? :P Difficult to say, it might be relatively equal? But I think it tends to be more time on tumblr.
10. Do you take a book to school/uni/work with you?  ALWAYS
11. Can you read in cars/busses/etc?  Cars and busses tend to make me sick, but trains, trams, and subways are fine.
aaaand here are @aimeereadsalot‘s questions:
1. Last book that made you cry? I think it was A Monster Calls
2. Funniest book you have ever read? The Martian!
3. What is your favorite book adaptation to a series or a movie? BBC Sherlock (up until S4 at least)
4. Did your parents read to you when you were a kid? Yes :)
5. Favorite book you had to read for school?  either Faust or Die Leiden des jungen Werther OR Der Schüler Gerber
6. Least favorite book trope?  insta-love!!! STOP insta-love 2k17
7. Do you write in your books?  no, but I have an ex libris stamp that I put in them
8. Are you a fast, slow or average reader?  I think I’m an average reader
9. How many book cases do you have?  Technically 3, but one of them has lots of other stuff in it too
10. When is the last time you went to the library?  good question! I was in the library at uni half a year ago, but I haven’t been to a public library in about 14 years
11. What is the weirdest thing you have used for a bookmark?  I don’t think I’ve ever used anything weird, it’s usually receipts.
My questions:
1. What is the rarest color on your bookshelf?  2. What’s a genre you have never read (and why)?  3. Is there a really expensive book or edition of a book that you would love to have (if so, what is it?)?  4. Have you ever picked up a book because it was mentioned in a movie/show/book?  5. We all have love stories we’re tired of, but what’s a love story you would love to read?  6. What’s the coolest place you’ve ever read in/at?  7. What language do you predominantly read in?  8. What’s the best book you had to read for school?  9. Is there a book you would like to read but that intimidates you a bit? (if so, which one?) 10. Finish this sentence: The perfect bookshelf is...  11. Is there a poem you really like? Which one?
I tag @bookvoyage, @freakishly-bookish-ant, @sparkylovesbooks, @flamingmirror, @the-bibliophiles-bookshelf, @dragonhoardofbooks, @agrumpybibliophile, @trinareadsbooks, @livingmydaydreams, @orangebug13, and @bibliophilecats  but if any of you don’t want to do it, that’s totally fine :)
