oh yeah this is completely understandable. Motivation always appears at the weirdest of times and never returns when you need it most. It is sad to leave the comic as it is during one of its biggest bumps of success, but this kinda stuff just happens. In the meantime, I’ll wait patiently for whenever you want to continue it, if that time ever comes. 👍

My little break from the vagabond comic might turn into a real big break. i hate to leave it unfinished but i can't promise i'll return to it. I just couldn't get into modern sonic media, and my nostolgia for the 2000's games wore off a while ago. so. rip. no more motivation.

im a bit dissappointed by the OFF prologue in some aspects ngl

to start with something nice, the combat is much more fun, and perhaps it was due to lack of skill, but some battles(esp Dedan's) had me pretty tense, concentrated and alert like a good fight should

the music though... it's different: at times right(the new 'clockwork' in the post office is pretty nice, but it feels too serious, too spy-like, less demented and organized than the old one, which added a lot to the old oppressive atmosphere), other times it's disappointing(the new 'fleshmazetango' actually saddened me lol it's one of my fav tracks from the og and this new version is sadly unremarkable and bland). Dedan's theme tho? it's good but it simply lacks that somber feeling of incoming calamity the og captured so perfectly. the descending vocals, the distorted percussion and gorgeous yet foreboding sad strings- it was a pin-point musical portrait of dedan as rigorous and exact as he is, so it is sad to see it replaced with something more standard. the og is apocalyptic and dark and damp like a rot just beneath the shiny surface, while this remaster seems a bit light

i think that speaks for the entirety of the game if the prologue is to be taken as a reflective fragment of the whole: it is overall more standard and bland and closer to undertale/deltarune in music.(i know about toby fox' involvement) polished appropriately for a remaster, but not fitting with the og game's somber and lonesome eccentricity

Streaming Content for Cult Fandom

So I went poking around trying to find a free streaming source for Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell and stumbled on this YouTube account of a guy named Owen Davies who is remastering some series that are difficult to find streaming these days. His mission is charming:

Somehow, my channel seems to have turned into a project to remaster and preserve pre-HD media (films, TV shows, miniseries, etc.). I hope you enjoy what's here. [...] I don't monetise my channel or any of its content. It wouldn't be right to do so, since most of it is original work by industry professionals that I've just attempted to clean up and polish with a modern HD/4K shine. YouTube is my hobby, not my source of income. ETA: I know there's debate around losing the "grittiness" of old media and whether 4k restoration removes that magic. I get that debate! For me, this is more about preserving content that is disappearing/hard to access. Okay, enjoy the show!

Best games for mental health&relax?

As someone who deals with anxiety and depression when I want to relax or am just feeling low and drained I’ll usually choose what others would consider “cozy games” because I don’t want any stress from shooters, strategy games, or anything that has a lot of stakes. I’ll do switch games for now since it’s my main console but I do have a 3ds, psvita, and my computer so I’ll make a list of those games later 💕

So my favorite games to relax to are:

~ stardew valley~ (you already knew this was coming) it’s just a really cute game with lots of options on how you can spend your time. You can farm, fish, forage, travel the mines, talk to the towns people, interact with love interests. There is just a lot to do in it and it has a really cozy small town cottagecore vibe that a lot of people find relaxing. Amazing replay value. I have like four different lives just so I can choose different farms, partners, things like that.

~ animal crossing~ (second most obvious answer) we all know animal crossing is a chill low stakes game that has a lot of similar elements I listed for stardew valley. You get to interact with cute little animals, decorate your house and character, forage, fish, find fossils, shop. It’s just a relaxing and positive game and is very popular for a reason. Idk about replay value because I really couldn’t imagine deleting my island tbh.

~ fashion dreamer~ if you like cute dress up type games this one is a decent lil game. It’s got lots of different styles for whatever your lil fashion heart desires and you basically walk around dressing up characters and they rate your outfits. It’s from the creators of style savvy and while it’s super cute I would wait for it to go on sale because it’s a bit overpriced imo. Style savvy is definitely the way to go if you have a ds/3ds. Still cute though. Don’t know about replay value because I’m fairly new to the game and haven’t come close to finishing or restarting anything.

~ unpacking~ this one is pretty cute and definitely a game that helps with anxiety. It’s a relaxed little puzzle game that unlocks parts of the story as you go along organizing each room to your home. You can try to solve the puzzles or you can just organize the furniture to your liking. Either way you want to play it’s super cute and relaxing and has some decent replay value after you complete it.

~calico~ super cute game where you run a cat cafe in a magical town with unique characters, little missions, and lots of cats you can pet and play with. There is magic, desserts, and you can ride giant cats like horses. Super soothing game. Character customization and decorating your cafe. The only drawback is it can get a bit glitchy but for the cuteness and the price I have no complaints. The music is really cute too. Not sure about replay value because my cafe is so cute I wouldn’t want to start over.

~coffee talk~ you run a coffee shop in the future and talk to all the incoming guests and learn their stories as you give them their coffee. This one is super relaxing and how I like to spend my evenings before bed if I want that extra cozy time to destress and relax. Cute art as well with different species and how they interact. I haven’t restarted yet but I’m sure there will be replay value with just how cozy and in depth the story is.

~rune factory 4 remastered~ this was originally a 3ds game they remastered for the switch and it’s so amazing that they did. One of my favorite 3ds games that is an offshoot of the harvest moon series with very pretty art, farming, cooking and crafting, romance, monster fighting, and just really fantastic story telling. Very cozy and hard not to get sucked into. Such a gorgeous game imo. Fantastic replay value.

~good pizza, great pizza~ you run a lil pizza shop and upgrade it to get better ingredients and equipment. Super cute chill game to pass the time and hard not to spend hours mindlessly making pizzas. Haven’t replayed it because I haven’t completed it but I imaging replaying it would be fun because you’re just making pizza and unlocking different ingredients. Relaxing game with cute art.

~monster prom~ cute game where you have to convince one of the monsters to go to prom with you. Funny writing, pretty art, and the ability to romance any gender while choosing your pronouns. It’s funny, the game play is question based, and it’s like little rounds of 15 mins and either you get them to go to prom or you get rejected. Then you get to try again. Replay value is obviously strong because I keep playing it no matter how often I’m rejected 🥲 being real though this game is funny, unique, and worth the price. I just have to beat the first one so I can try the second.

~what comes after~ you play as a character on a train of ghosts and you process the grief of passing to the afterlife and try to learn and console the other ghosts on the train who are passing. Pretty game that is mostly story based and worth a try. I haven’t finished this game so I’m not to sure on the replay value.

~little mouse’s encyclopedia~ a cute little game where you play as a little mouse exploring the outside and the dirt and you spend your time finding other little animals and bugs and plants and you read about them and what they are. Cute little educational game I purchased because I loved the art that ended up being super cute in the long run.

Honorable mentions:

- speed dating for ghosts (cute funny little game where you go on dates with ghosts. Short, sweet, and to the point. Decently priced for how quick you get through the game)

- cattails (you play as a cat that travels through its little territory you that you share with your other cat group. You gather little things, complete missions, scrap with rival cat gangs, and just walk around as a cat. Cute but a bit slow for my tastes.)

-rune factory 5 (don’t get me wrong, I love the fourth one and I’m sure the more I play this one I’ll learn to love it to. The gameplay is just set up a bit different and is a bit more similar to the harvest moon style than the fourth rune factory. The art is gorgeous though I was just hoping for more rune factory and less harvest moon when it came to the actual playing)

The only reason I haven’t purchased and played these games yet is because games aren’t cheap and I need to finish the ones I’ve already purchased. That being said I’ve been looking at a lot of these for a long time and they are definitely going to make this list. Hello hello! Anon here. First of all, congratulations on getting accepted for your courses! Don't worry about trying to balance work and the blog, we will always be here waiting for you. Second of all, your whole Yutu AU has been really fascinating to look through. (Though that may be because of my bias toward Fire Emblem Awakening, as it was what got me into the series) Sorry for the incoming wall of text, but it's been giving me THOUGHTS.

So imagine this: whoever Yutu's dad is (I'll pick Azul for this example because I headcannon his English voice somewhere between Matt Mercer's Chrom and Olivert from The Legend of Heroes games) finds out who Yutu really is. You remember that cutscene after Chapter 13 in Awakening, with the Lucina reveal and Chrom has this: "You deserved better than a sword and a world full of troubles. I'm sorry."? Imagine Yutu hearing something like that: the acknowledgement of everything he's gone through, the pain of knowing his dad couldn't do anything and can't do anything more than offer words, and the reality that it might now be really possible to change the future? I imagine Azul breaking down after hearing all that because the last thing he wants to do is hurt Yuu or his son after everything he's been through. Oh goodness, the two of them both need hugs.

Second: did Crowley tip off the Magic Marshalls (because I think he would) and force Yuu to take the blame for his negligence (because he absolutely would)? Now imagine Yutu finding this out and telling his dad. Now his dad knows Crowley is a cheapskate who fobs his work onto everyone else without a second thought. And now he's responsible for having Yuu taken away and starting all this? Knowing the boys and how far they would go for Yuu I'd imagine they don't take that well. In other words, to slightly alter a quote from Regina in Once Upon A Time: "I guess killing a crow suddenly made the top of my to-do list."

Sorry for the wall of text but that's been rattling around in my head for a few days (so make of it all what you will). Hope you're doing well and looking forward to what's next!

Listen fire emblem awakening was my entire personality for like all of middle school.  The only thing i wanted to talk about was chrobin.  I celebrated Morgan and Lucina's birthdays by drawing them. I think I still have a Cherche x Libra fan art thing I drew on some sheet of paper somewhere in my things because I was SO MAD that no one shipped them and I couldn't find fan art of them anywhere and I just oooooooooooh.  THE WAY CHROM GETS A NEW CRIT LINE ABOUT HOW ANYTHING CAN CHANGE AFTER THE REVEAL???? BECAUSE OF HOW DETERMINED HE IS TO KEEP THAT PROMISE AND GIVE LUCINA A BETTER WORLD???? i just cant be normal about them i am so sorry.  R+A annon I love you, I love you so much for this you made my entire month and possibly my year.  Awakening is also what got me into the series and made me so many friends I just love her so much.  She's an icon and I hope she gets remastered with Sumia either deleted or with a fucking personality.

I should probably sit down and actually write a timeline for myself of events, but since I am free to lean in to the fire emblem pacing, I want to say that monsters from Yutu's timeline start showing up (similar to how the Risen do in Awakening) in the past and stirring up trouble, which leads to an event where Yutu panics and forgets himself in his desperation to protect his dad.  The main way the future kids always proved themselves was by showing their mother's wedding ring, but Yutu doesn't have that so really it's just up to his dad to see someone who looks like him and Yuu blended together, supposedly from Yuu's world using magic and above all else crying out and driving up his own blot levels to protect him calling him dad. For Azul! Yutu it's especially painful, he feels like he already knows what his dad is going to say. That he's disappointed in him. That he has no idea how they could possibly be related. That he hopes in this future he turns out to be different. But that's not what happens.

Before Azul overblotted he was quiet. There's a similar quiet over him now, a similar look of tense surprise, but Yutu- no- his child doesn't know that. His child is looking at him in fear, in worry for his reaction or his safety he doesn't know but he knows the way those tears start to form. Azul knows the quiver of the lip and the shriek, of all the things he could have passed on to such a treasure.

"You deserved better from me." Because it's true. He might think of himself as a work in progress but he still thinks he has quality; he would have done research, read every book he could get his hands on, taken classes, anything he would need to do to be a good father, a worthy partner. Anything. "You deserved to have the world within your grasp, not whatever shadow of a future and a father I left you with. I am so sorry." He does not expect Yutu to grab him and hold him like he's still somehow worthy of his love, but Azul can't fight the urge to grab back, to stroke his son's hair and let the tears fall on his suit without any care at all. I'm here. It's ok, daddy's here, daddy's got you, he won't let anything happen to you.

As for your second question, I did not really write Crowley like that no. It was more like he was the first person mysteriously arrested after the Magical Marshall's decided to finally do their job. I was writing it like they wanted to ship Yuu away to cover up for their own incompetence in preventing seven overblots instead of properly investigating what might have caused that. He's not completely innocent though, so yes. The boys do not take it well at all. And please do not apologize for sending in your thoughts, I am so so slow but I love hearing from you.

Class Feature Friday: Cosmos Mystery (Pathfinder Second Edition Oracle Mystery)

We’ve circled back around to second edition oracle mysteries again and this time we find ourselves with some notable tweaks to how oracle mysteries in 2e work.

While these mysteries still have their curses, they seem like they give fewer benefits as the curse magnifies compared to the non-remastered version. However, in exchange, it seems like they gain more granted spells in addition to the basic cantrip and the mystery focus spells, so it’s a bit of a trade-off, and less a race to maximize the curse as much as possible for the passive benefits, so I suppose I can understand.

In any case, the Cosmos mystery!

Quite obviously a renamed take on the old Heavens mystery from First Edition, this mystery is a blessing from the gods of the stars and sky, as well as the void in between, which I suppose means that it’s actually a blending of both Heavens and the Dark Tapestry mysteries.

Regardless, whether these oracles look to the stars or the darkness in the night sky looking for answers, they find them. These beings often look as those gravity has only a minor hold on them, and might also be marked by hair or eyes that sparkle with starlight, or other phenomena.

So originally, oracle mysteries got a passive benefit. However, now they get a bonus feat from their class list, so for posterity, I will include both. The oracles of the cosmos have a knack for sensing incoming danger, allowing them to warn their allies, better preparing them to react, and also reducing the damage they take from the first few attacks that hit them. This replaces the passive benefit where cosmos oracles instead had bodies that were partially composed of stellar material, reducing the harm of physical attacks.

Initially the basic cantrip of this mystery was the conjuring of a few floating lights. However, now they conjure a single powerful floating orb of light, as well a blasts of color that overwhelm the senses, fields of darkness, and a moon-addled frenzy in others. What’s more, their basic focus spell conjures a spray of star-like sparks to burn and dazzle foes.

Previously, oracle mysteries only granted access to two domain choices, but now they get four, being darkness, moon, nothingness, and star. These are useful for creating areas of darkness, blasting foes with sacred moonlight, warding themselves against mental attack with nothingness, and creating bright stars to track someone, respectively.

With greater revelations come new magical effects, such as freezing foes with the chill of empty space, and creating bridges of moonlight for them and their allies to cross while others fail to do so.

Naturally, they can also take the advanced spell of their domain as well. These can grant greater darkvision, granting cycling benefits based on the phase of the moon, creating sucking rifts to elsewhere, or create a burning asterism that harms those that pass through the lines, respectively.

The sky pulls at those with this mystery, cursing them with light bodies. The original version of this curse offered several benefits to being lightweight such as being impossible to trip or even allowing them to walk on unstable surfaces. However, the remastered version only makes the oracle easier to knock around.

The remastered version of the class does offer a feat or two associated with various mysteries, including Trial by Skyfire, allowing them to rain down fiery bolts from the heavens on foes.

There are, however, general feats that prove useful to them, including Reach Spell, Widen Spell, Knowledge of Shapes, Detonating Spell, Surging Might, Water Walker, Quickened Casting, Lighter Than Air, Blaze of Revelation, Mystery Conduit, and others that fit your build.

This mystery definitely lends itself more to the blasty side of things, but also offers ways to buff others and themselves, as well as some good utility. I will say I do miss the added benefits to advancing one’s curse, but I also understand the need for the curse to be the consequence of overusing certain abilities rather than something to immediately farm for each day and encounter.

Being an oracle of the cosmos means feeling the call of the stars and the beings with power over them. Does the oracle embrace such higher powers, or live in fear of them? I suppose it all depends on whether they embrace the vastness above or not.

Many-Eyes-of-Heaven lives up to their name, their many eyes as a goloma twinkling like stars in their mane. Unlike others of their kind though, they believe that it is time to cast aside fear and befriend the many peoples of the world and beyond, befitting their role as a star-gazer.

Blessed by the stars both by her heritage as a lunar naga and by the divine will of the gods, Eisaveth is among the most powerful of her kind, and many go to her seeking wisdom from the heavens. However, a new group of petitioners approaches that seeks the answers to their questions, and the naga’s death to prevent those answers from spreading, something she has forseen, and summoned the party to prevent.

After years of fending off the threats from the night sky, the remote village of Olgans has grown distrustful of the stars, to the point when a child born with constellation birthmarks begins showing signs of divine power, there is a debate about their fate.

Is classic game porting/remastering becoming its own specialization? What I mean is, of course it's happening more these days, so/but is space growing to be someone who specializes in these projects? Or is it still niche enough that the small number of teams/staff who do it will continue to do it?

The answer here is "kind of". Here's the main issue - game development is expensive. AAA studios are expensive and cost a lot to run, assigning a AAA studio a remake/port project is not really worth it when compared to the estimated return on investment. Instead, what game publishers often do is contract out the remakes/port job to an independent third-party studio. This has two major benefits.

First, it costs notably less than the publisher putting their own internal AAA studios on it. When you're doing a remake/port, you often don't need super high fidelity assets or extremely large scope - the majority of the gameplay design and systems already exist. Contracting the project out to an external studio means the publisher can just pay a flat amount and doesn't have to worry about things hiring new people, handling benefits, setting up the studio, etc. The external studio gets to do that, and often has their own stuff in place already. This works very well for the independent studios too - they can take jobs like this in order to pay the bills and fund their own game development. Behaviour, independent developer of Dead by Daylight, also has a second team that does work like porting and remakes/ports for other studios. Their porting and remake team provides the income to keep the studio afloat during leaner times.

Second, it allows the publisher to give these external studios a chance to prove themselves - can they deliver a promised project in time, budget, and quality? If they can, this studio may be worth acquiring or working with again. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was developed by Japanese independent studio Grezzo, but this is far from their first game for Nintendo. They ported Ocarina of Time 3D, Majora's Mask 3D, and Luigi's Mansion for the 3DS, and they did the port for Link's Awakening to the Switch. The team that built Sonic Mania first proved themselves to Sega by doing iOS ports of Sonic CD, Sonic 1, and Sonic 2 before being given the Sonic Mania project.

With these two reasons in mind, doing remakes/ports do two things. First, they can earn money to pay the bills in a situation where it isn't worth it for the publishers to build them internally, allowing these studios to build their own projects or just have a more stable sustainable situation. Second, it provides a "minor league" situation where these external studios can prove their ability to the publisher in a lower-stakes situation in order to be entrusted with a higher and more interesting project later. As long as remakes and ports of games continue to do well, this kind of work will be in demand.

I found it so funny first off that in the beginning of the episode when the contestants JUST GOT BACK from the cliff that DESCENDED FOREVER that after hearing Salt they just decide to jump off it again..

Also it feels so illegal to have Lightbulb being referred to as a "he" ngl but I understand that this is a remaster and all yet euther way it does feel wrong.. idk💔💔

Painty's "Well, actually-" is kinda implied to me during the team-picking scene that they are gonna correct Knife on their pronouns but just gets cut off💔💔 what did painty do to you💔💔

1 point taken away from this episode from changing the name from "Desperate Housewives" to "Desperate Houses" I say yet I know copyright is a big no-no when it comes to shows, especially indie ones

"Hey i have an idea Since people like my latest Touhou style album, what if i just remaster/arrange all of ZUN's PC-98 songs next?"

So i calculated how many songs that would be (the songs in ()'s are bonus songs) And uhhhh…

Oh. Oh 116 songs.

116 divided by 3 years (156 weeks) is around 0,74

That means that realistically speaking, if i would finish 1 song every week (break weeks included like christmas and birthday), it would take 3 years

That is not financially viable for me, i need commission money to pay for rent and food

While i love the idea, it's just not viable in practise unless it "blows up" and sells a lot

I need money to live, clients pay me around 200-300 euro upfront per song, that is more than my newest TH album made /in total/

This is why clients are my main source of income and not my personal albums

Has there ever been a case of a Touhou PC-98 remaster album "blowing up" or being a financially viable alternative to just doing commission work? (worldwide)

(Not talking about Touhou arrange albums like +TEK's for example, i'm talking about "remaster" arrange style albums)

And i know this "money talk" might seem horrific and grey to some of my fans But hey i need to eat and pay rent If i don't, i die I can't make music while i'm dead guys

I hate capitalism as much as the rest of you, but that doesn't mean we can magically stop living in it all of sudden
