  I already own fast fashion/I can only afford to buy fast fashion, now what?

>Sustain what you buy-sewing, washing, and an attitude that cares about the garment

>Fast fashion can break or wear out easily, you can upcycle the fabric

cut out prints for other projects

use fabric for patches

use fabric to repair other clothes

cut off sleeves/collars/make into crop top

t-shirt bags (an option- but inconvenient to use from personal experience)

other non-clothing crafts

>If you won’t use the clothing item and want to give it away, ask people you know before donating to a thrift store. Thrift stores are already overrun with fast fashion as it is, try not to give them more. But if the only other option is throwing it away, it’s fine to donate it.

>Don't buy excess to what you need. yes you can keep up with trends and accessories but hauls or multiple of an item with the same purpose isn't necessary (ex. more t-shirts than what you can cycle regularly)

>Reduce future fast fashion purchases

If possible consider alternatives such as thrifting, rummage sale shopping, and diy. 

Thrift stores and rummage sales support local economics! Your money is going to your neighbors instead of a company.

Rummage sales are preferable to places such as depop, becasue it involves local neighbors who want to get rid of clothes (that will possibly be thrown out otherwise) They can be much cheaper for much higher quality.

>There’s a difference between not being able to afford any other clothes, and buying hauls of fast fashion to wear for a short period of time only to donate immediately or throw away. Influencers who make hundreds of dollars worth of hauls aren’t the type of people who can say “i can’t afford anything else”. hauls aren’t sustainable. 

>Don’t feel guilty if you truly can’t afford anything else, but please consider your options and sustain what you already own before buying more.

Dam Chan Nguyen saves dead and dying computers.

When he first started working two decades ago in Nhat Tao market, Ho Chi Minh City’s biggest informal recycling market, he usually salvaged computers with bulky monitors and heavy processors. Now he works mostly with laptops and the occasional MacBook.

But the central tenet of his work hasn’t changed: Nothing goes to waste. What can be fixed is fixed. What can be salvaged gets re-used elsewhere. What’s left is sold as scrap.

“We utilize everything possible,”

Hoan moved to Ho Chi Minh City over a decade ago from the coastal Binh Dinh province in central Vietnam to try to escape poverty. She wakes every day at 4 a.m. in the tiny room she shares with two other people. She pushes her scrap cart—her biggest investment, costing $40—around Nhat Tao market from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., collecting scrap from shop owners.

Electronic waste is the most valuable and she still remembers the time somebody sold her an old refrigerator. But all waste, ranging from aluminum or iron to the ubiquitous plastic and paper, has some value. On rare good days, she can collect up to 30 kilograms and make around $8.

She rarely takes breaks, but sometimes stops for water out of exhaustion from pushing the heavy cart around in extreme heat. At those times, she enjoys reading Doraemon comics—Japanese comic books about a time-traveling robotic cat—that she finds on her routes or gets as gifts from those who know of her fondness for the comics.

“I have to devote myself to this job as it’s my only option,” she said.

decora kei has punk roots but because it’s typically a more colorful style it doesn’t get as much credit in being an alternative fashion when it’s actually alternative af!!?!!!

alternative does not always mean dark/goth, but rather any kind of style that is unconventional, against the norm, or involves a lot of DIY.

decora kei is specifically an alternative style of japanese fashion that emerged on the streets of harajuku japan in 1990s. everyone has a different style and approach to wearing decora fashion, but personally i like to focus on the DIY aspect while being anti-consumerism.

you don’t need to buy from expensive brands to be decora, but supporting small/disabled owned businesses is a great way to expand your accessory collection while being anti-establishment. you don’t HAVE to wear bright or pastel colors with decora kei fashion either. decora at its core is about decorating yourself from head to toe. there is no such thing as too much, so you can be as OVER THE TOP (OTT) as you want, which makes this style maximalism personified!

making funky jewelry and repurposing things for wearable art is one of my biggest passions so any and all support means the world, especially as a struggling artist and young adult with limited resources in my life. thanks so much for checking me out, keep alternative fashion alive 4ever! :P

Fun fact : kanji has been in the lower part of the sea ever since he was a kid and has been a mamas boy due to his dad died to mysterious circumstances he's been trying to find out who killed his father for his mother's sake and when he got kidnapped in the TV world he fist fighted shadows and shadows feared him all because he was punching them left and right without no persona

and when this man was rescued he hugged yu and yosuke and said thank you to them because he got tired of killing shadows with his bare hands also he joined the investigation team and has been the greatest homie and the brawn of the team

and ever since the fog has been rising he's been trying to find a way to prevent it by using empty metal barrels to keep the fog contaminate and it somehow worked out a little bit but he still needed some more help so it's a good thing nato confronted him and wanted to help out of the situation he's in

so they both did try and scoop up some crystals with the middle barrels with protection against the radiation-like crystals and they sealed with metal top containers it worked by it basically reduced to like a little bit of fog and his area but it started to grow when he was asleep really fast and he woke up and he swam to get away from the fog

until he bumps into yu again and he however never told him much but told him about how he didn't get contaminated with the cursed crystals of "mother nature" all because he was wearing protective gear that will probably be important later

yu was kind of surprised and was curious but he congratulate him on trying to get rid of the crystals that were growing the fog

no matter how kanji tries help out he always feared all because of his strength and his aggressiveness but due to all this his feminine side shows no bounds,when he's alone he likes stitching seaweed together into baskets because he thought it was kinda pretty and he has been doing it when no one is around

If your neighborhood has a vacant lot, get some neighbors together and turn it into a community garden.

Organize a block party.

Create a maker space enabling folks to repair, repurpose, and swap their old stuff.

Organize a bunch of plant-savvy neighbors to help folks convert their yards from resource hungry yuppie lawns into something sustainable that fits the local biome.

Get a few friends together and clean up the trash on the streets. Make sure to recycle.

Set up Little Free Libraries and Little Free Pantries.

Get tool-savvy neighbors together to help folks with needed household repairs and upgrades.

The punk in solarpunk is about resistance to the alienation and consumer culture that makes our communities unsustainable and our environments toxic.
