Thank you for the tag @eodred! This was a hard one; my relationship to my own writing has always been a weird one. There was a period of time many years ago when I fancied myself a decent writer, and either because of that or the other way round I was writing a lot more. Then for a long time I couldn't bring myself to write at all, and I've only just started trying to drag myself kicking and screaming back into it, so it's been a real roller coaster of 'oh this isn't that bad actually' to 'good lord why even try.'
Some things I'm proud of in my writing, pulled from various comments:
Attention to worldbuilding detail. Historical research is always something I just enjoy doing, and over the years I've gotten a variety of comments showing appreciation for the attention paid to small details, historical context, and random 'colours' of places that give the settings life.
Writing things that stick with people and make them think, where you can read the work time and again and still find new details to pick out and chew on, or what I would refer to as 'rewatch potential.'
Character study! I personally think I can often get a bit self-indulgent with introspection, but on the other hand I have also been praised for delving into the meat of characters' heads, or into the thorny intricacies of relationships, especially those that might not receive much attention in canon. Everyone gets dealt an even hand, in terms of how I want to play into their nuance as human beings rather than archetypes, which seems to produce sympathy for and understanding of even 'stock' or one-dimensional characters, which is absolutely what I want. The psych major brain goes brr
One comment I got awhile back on a VERY long since abandoned fic made my heart crack into pieces with the words "adroit wordsmith job." I love fitting together words in fun ways or ways that feel like music to my brain and when other people pick up on that or say it resonates with them I get very very happy
Another favourite comment I've gotten was "I stayed up until a fairly inadvisable hour to read this" which. Godspeed to that person because the fic they were reading was a Monster, I'm honoured they found it compelling
Vivid, evocative description! Not always utilised to pleasant ends

Writer positivity tag game
Alright, let's try this again. I've recently been struggling with how I feel about my writing -- I both love it and hate it, and I'm both proud of it and ashamed of it. So let's all name a few things about our writing that we like, and tag our writer friends!
Here goes for me (this is all things I've heard from other people, btw):
--creating compelling characters that readers love, hate, and everything in between. The worst thing, in my opinion, is to write characters who leave readers indifferent. --using all five senses to create a vivid sense of place --unique premises, creative plot twists and resolutions --range, from sweet, soft cottagecore to gritty, dark themes --a lyrical style with evocative metaphors --the ability to vary pacing depending on the needs of the scene --good balance between showing and telling, exposition and action --despite the lyrical style, I am actually not that bad at word economy and getting better every day. The scenes where things happen at a rapid pace or are emotionally intense are a good example of this. (My recent rewrites, with the ghost of Papa Hem sitting at my elbow, have been aimed at precisely this -- what can I say more efficiently? Do I really need to explain this or describe that? Off with the filler words!)

[Image description: A digital drawing of Iris Campbell from the film Final Destination Bloodlines. It depicts her on the night of the Skyview premonition, wearing her blue dress with white accessories. One of her hands in being pulled to the left out of frame, her body being tugged along with it. Her other arm hangs limply. Below the engagement ring, her ring finger is coloured a bright red, which drips off of it into a curved line. This line travels to the right and splits off into eight different lines of varying sizes, each one with an arrow tip. One of these arrows travels behind her head, and spirals as it travels. These tips all point towards a penny falling downwards. Iris is turning her head and gaze towards it. Her eyebrows bunch up and her mouth falls open slightly as sweat drips down her face. The background is a bold, warm yellow, which contrasts greatly against the blue of her dress and the red of the arrows.]

One Piece Live action season 1 + hints or similarities to future One Piece moments (specifically after East Blue saga) - part 1: episodes 1-3 [part 2 here]
This isn't meant to be a comparison between the live action and the animanga, but more so seeing these added/modified scenes that differ from the manga, yet with some of the acting/writing includes clues and hints to different and future canon material, or even characterization that necessary doesn't fit East Blue yet, but fits well enough into later arcs.
Luffy not knowing his world directions both in Opla (ep 1) /// Skypiea arc, in anime ep 168. But it could be for honestly any other arc (Funny thing is, in Opla he rang the bell that unfortunately alerted Alvida's crew, and only when I was rewatching that scene it made me connect it with the great Luffy moment at the end of Skypiea.)
The matches that Zoro has on the Island of Sixis in Opla ep 1, possibly manufactured on Baldimore (?), with a name Beast of Baldimore. /// After Sabaody Archipelago Franky was sent to Baldimore by Kuma, finding Vegapunk's homeland and laboratory, and also developing more of his science projects, as well as causing funny incidents, such as the Burning Beast. (It has probably nothing to do with the matches, except for the 'tiger on fire' motif and the name of Baldimore, but the details of Opla are just so fun!)
Zoro's first meeting with Luffy in Opla episode 1 is really different but fun nonetheless, especially with wording of the line that he doesn't want to 'play pirates' with Luffy. It's such a great setup line for his development to truly be one of the very first to understand how much Luffy means everything he's doing /// Zoro in ep. 323 Post Enies Lobby arc, making sure both his crew and the audience know how seriously he takes being part of Luffy's crew and what it means for future arcs.
Opla ep 2, Luffy mentioning Shanks' way of thinking about fighting (or not fighting someone who's not worth it) /// ep. 146 Jaya arc, Luffy saying to Zoro not to fight Bellamy's crew, which was direct influence from Shanks not fighting the Mountain bandits in the first chapters of the manga. It's interesting that for both of these scenes both Zoro and Nami are there to hear this.
This is just a fun bit, but seeing Nami excited about having a bath was cute. Opla ep 3 /// anime ep. 326, just after they get Sunny and everyone was finding out what space there is for them.
Garp and Koby playing the game of Go, Opla ep 3 /// CP0 agents playing Go while discussing the outcome of Strawhats & Oden's crew's raid on Onigashima against Kaido. It seems like a game that maybe Marines play more/enjoy (?) & above, up to CP ranks.
Usopp 'retelling' a story about eating a dragon, Opla ep 3 /// Punk Hazard ep 580, Zoro killing the dragon and planning with Luffy what's the best way to cook and eat it. Lol. In next chapters Luffy was carrying a big chunk of it, seemingly ate a bit part of the dragon already.
This one is self explanatory. Zoro is so gone for Luffy in Opla it's insane. Every time I remember that I get emo. ep 3. /// One of the first really fond smiles that Zoro keeps smiling at Luffy, a mixture of proud and understanding how Luffy works. ep 63, but it's just so much better in the manga, just look at it. Smitten™ (ch. 104)

There's something so incredibly wholesome about Ace encouraging someone to live for themselves because he's been (or is still, depending on how you look at it) in their position before.
Ace might not think that he's loved, too entrenched in his father's legacy and what other people have told him when he was younger, but even when he believes that blood relation isn't something that can be chosen, what's important is that you become something great beyond blood or titles, that the path that you go on is what you choose for yourself.
Yamato saying that Ace taught him the meaning of life might as well be literal. It's the exact thing he needed to hear from someone who knows what it's like to live a life shadowed by their father's presence.

There's no need to plead for me, Marshal. I made a mistake. I failed His Supreme Majesty's education and let my colleagues down. ...I also did her wrong.

me realizing my fic can be better vs me realizing I’m gonna have to break it a bit to make it better vs me realizing I’m just embodying one of the main themes anyway and coming to terms with the fact that change is difficult and uncomfortable and painful but necessary and unavoidable if you want to grow and improve
It’s okay! It’s just the spin cycle of writing torture! ☺️✨

YOU KNOW WHAT!! i see this. i see this i see this i see this.
this is why i mentioned i needed to shut up until i watched a second time (i did not listen to that advice), because there’s always another perspective and way to connect why things are the way they are.
do i still think this season has some flaws, yeah ofc. like… zero story telling for our poc characters except for tina’s episode, but i do suppose i can understand a bit more now why this season feels so static
