I love the hc that all of Jon’s characters are related cause on one hand you’ve got this loser anime dweeb but in the other you have this unhinged lawyer. battle of the bands au where the nerdy prudes have been in a band since they all became friends in middle school and it’s senior and they finally got enough courage to actually sign up. but their bassist is travis coulson, their friend who transferred to sycamore, and therefore is “not allowed” to perform in battle of the bands. they put up signs for an auditions but no one tries out for the spot bc they’re such losers. then in a lemonade mouth moment steph and richie get detention together (steph for being on her phone, richie for telling the teacher she’s an idiot) and richie finds out steph plays bass. he begs her to join so they can still compete and she honestly does it bc he’s making them sound so pathetic and she feels bad for him. then she joins and falls in love w pete during the practices and they win!

i'm very fond of the idea of patricia becoming close with the losers when they're adults (after derry part 2 in which stan survives because its MY headcanon and i make the rules) and i need you guys to consider that she fucking hates bill's writing in the novel. stan buys bill's books when they come out and patty tried to read them and i don't have the book with me right now so i can't get the direct quote but her response basically amounted to "why would anyone want to read something so awful!?"

so imagine her husband gets back from this whole ordeal and he has all these new friends with him now and one of them is that guy who wrote all those shitty books she hates! like thats so funny to me. at first she tries to pretend she thinks his writing his good "oh i haven't read any of your work but stanley loves it! it's so amazing you're such a talented writer" but eventually he finds out she thinks his writing is utter dogshit and he can't even find it in himself to be offended because she's so outraged that it's kinda hilarious. i think she would lighten up on her criticism a bit after talking to him about his books but she would give him so much hell for his ridiculous premises. she still refuses to read more than a chapter of any of the books. she watches one movie based off one of his books and is absolutely horrified by it and refuses to watch any more, he insists it was just a bad adaptation.

i think this becomes 100x funnier if she thinks richie's funny, and in this AU he has a comeback writing his own material after derry 2 and she loves his acts. like bill is just standing there with his horror novels like, "wait so she thinks my novels are reprehensible but richie's comedy isn't????" like that's hilarious. imagine being bill and someone thinking the content of your novels is more crass than the content of richie "trashmouth" tozier's stand-up???? richie is delighted when he finds out and takes every possible opportunity to make fun of bill for being a godless heathen among other things

sometimes i think about how richie said he was afraid of clowns because his fear didn’t have a physical form closely tied to it so pennywise took his normal form. he wasn’t afraid of just clowns, he was afraid that said clown knew his secret.

like, its so interesting how he’s the only one without a physical form for pennywise to take.

stan has the painting in his dad’s office in the synagogue, something closely tied to his fear of disappointing his father as he is the son of the rabbi.

bill has georgie because he is afraid of losing those close to him and georgie was the first person close to him that he lost.

beverly has blood because she’s afraid of her father realizing that she’s changed which is why she saw blood in her bathroom the same night after she bought herself menstrual products.

mike has his parents burning because he’s afraid of forever being associated with that and people always seeing it as him and not the person underneath.

eddie has the leper because he’s afraid of getting sick and disappointing his mother because she makes him take all these meds and getting sick would prove that his mother is doing all this for nothing.

ben has beverly on fire as he is afraid of confrontation and beverly being on fire ties to his anonymous poem about her.

but richie? richie has pennywise himself. he has pennywise because pennywise knows his dirty little secret and is threatening to tell people it because he knows that's what richie is afraid of. he's not afraid of something physical, he's afraid of everyone else because he thinks they won't accept him.

the closest he gets to something physical is the missing poster because if people knew he was gay, especially in a small town in 1989, he would be an immediate target. he's not afraid of going missing, but why he's missing.
