enough sad soukoku angst. give me SILLY soukoku angst. give me 16 year old dazai dragging tired older brother odasaku on a "very important mission given to him by the boss" and it's just dazai watching chuuya on a date (oooooh) with comically oversized binoculars. the date goes horribly wrong, no dazai meddling required, and dazai feels nothing but successful. odasaku leaves halfway through, knowing he cannot stop this but not wanting to enable dazai.

Aha, it is weird sometimes to think that like, this is something that all writers are generally doing, and then it's like 'yeah no that's... introducing conflict means ideally you feel it too, that's... that's what makes the resolution feel so good' - like that's the job.

Tbh, this is why when folks are like 'omg I can't believe they KILLED that character' or 'I can't believe THIS HORRIBLE THING HAPPENED WHY' it's like well, they wanted you to feel this way. That's why. They did it on purpose. Outside of shitty tropes like 'burying your gays' etc. when folks are genuinely bemoaning why a show has made them miserable the answer is nearly 100% of the time - they wanted you to feel miserable.

They wanted you to have the awful experience of a tragic ending. They wanted you to feel the conflict at the end of a season so that you'd be driven to the catharsis of resolution in the next season. It's an intentional move to create emotional response, catharsis, expression, frustration and resonance, to lead you through a journey that is more than just cerebral.

And when it works, it's incredible, and it's my favourite part of storytelling.

ok op I found your art a bit ago when I got back into aa and immediately got reinvested into narumitsu and I. Am obsessed with the way you draw Phoenix. he is so nice to look at and idk if I'm making sense with this but your art is so calming!! it's so good!! do you have any art tips for beginners? thank you so much ;_;! with art tips i never really know where to start esp cuz "beginner" is a really broad spectrum, but the best i can give (aside from telling you to do studies and dumping a masterpost of stuff people already have talked over endlessly) are 2 things that drastically helped improve my outlook on art 1) Draw things simply for the sake of it being fun. sometimes I would get so caught up in my own head about trying to make the Next Best Thing but ended up just killing any joy drawing gave me which defeats the whole point of art for me. Sometimes you have to draw some silly shit just to be like damn this is fun !

2) Let yourself be inspired by other art. By that I mean look at other artists work and actually analyze what you enjoy about it (color, pose, composition, etc.) and see how you could apply that to your own work. It's not cheating to use some colors or a pose you found interesting in one persons work. the Key here is being INSPIRED and not COPYING please for the love of god nobody misinterpret this

Not a fan, this has been a very entertaining weekend though. I’m glad the fans got the apology they deserved, I still missed them bringing up the fact they excluded a huge part of their audience with this whole shtick but yanno what, that’s nitpicky at best.

Fun fact, when someone picks a new deadly sin to represent themself, you can actually eat and become their old one without needing to compromise your previous deadly sins!!

You don't have to be just one! You're actually intended to have quite a few of them, in fact! It's a strange system, I would've designed it differently, but that's just one of the tips and tricks I learned over the years about the Abrihamic meta, if you're trying to minmax.

This system does lead to some people being pressured into picking new sins so the pressurer can maximize sin intake, however it is also important to remember that once you reach all 7 you either (1.) run out and reset your method of sin intake by picking a new starting sin and counting from 1 again or (2.) move on to a new model of sin measurement (Such as Dante's Inferno layers of hell, for instance) and need to retrofit old sins into new ones, which is almost like a soft reset of sorts (For example, needing to figure out how to translate Sloth into the layers structure while accounting for thematic overlaps).

Point (2.) can get complicated when going from a model with more sins to a model with less sins. You have to figure out which sins are being conglomerated and consolidated as well as distributing importance semi-consistently, because you need to make sure there is at least one in the new model that you haven't taken yet.

There, of course, is the universal truth that "You are all Sin all at once and You only wish to quantify sins in the first place to pretend like You are excluded from sins that You are actively embodying (By being Sin, in Sin's entirety)" but that really is just a 1-sin binary model... which necessitates a 0 to explain its existence as 1 in the first place... You get it. The reason why we pick these models is because it's fun.

Sure We are God, but we knew that already and want to pretend like there's more to it than that because it's fun. Sin is fun!! That's why people keep dying (Or living but being tortured through living) for Our sins (It very much did not start with the one big example you're probably thinking of). It's fun!!

Just. Maybe stop dying. I get it can be fun for you, more power to you or whatever, but dying also kinda blows. I know I will sometimes say Till All Are One or whatever but I wanna be One with You... even though you'd be there regardless, under All after all... Whatever.

And I've been teasing at Greed for a while. Though, those are just the ones that are compliant with both the Deadly model and the Inferno model, it gets a bit more complicated considering my Deadly root was Pride and I haven't given that up yet, so to separate the models a bit it'd actually be

With Greed, Sloth, and Envy missing (Sloth is actually maybe next for my deadly chart, and Envy flickers in and out on its own)

With Heresy, Violence, and Fraud regrettably missing (The three flicker like Envy in the Deadly model but it's because sometimes I'm leaning more towards the Deadly model so it is Envy and sometimes I'm in the Inferno model so Envy gets interpreted as one or two of the three without completing it outright, with the stressing on one over the other two or two over the other one allowing for enough of a buffer to be fickle. This is also the reason why Greed is locked in for Inferno but not for Deadly. I tend to prefer Inferno, after all.)

Anyway, yeah, I was just using myself as an example. But if you're thinking about dropping sloth for something else hmu I'll eat it after you.

You also don't have to drop them, if this proves anything it should be proving that you can be multiple at once (That's kinda the whole point actually) so striving to be multiple instead of just relying on revelations to begin swapping might be a game changer for you if you're trying to grapple with your original sins and don't know how to respec without resetting

8 - “Well, someone’s grouchy.” / 590 words

Dream watched from across the room at the grumpy looking blonde, observing Punz as he angrily scrolled through his phone before locking it in frustration and tossing it to the side. He threw his head back against the couch cushions, letting out a huff of air through his nose as he closed his eyes, eyebrows still furrowed together in annoyance like they were stuck that way.

"Well, someone's grouchy." Dream spoke gently, a hint of playful teasing audible in his words but still treading lightly, not knowing what was going on with the older boy.

"Not grouchy..." Punz growled, immediately opening his eyes once he heard the harsh tone in his own voice. "God, sorry Dream. I didn't get much sleep last night with the other two idiots keeping me up."

"That's why I have two locks on my door." The boys giggled at the response while Dream stood up, making his way over next to Punz and lightly punching him in the arm.

At least he tried to punch his arm.

What happened wasn't fully clear to Dream until after it was said and done, everything moving too fast to fully process in the short time it took place. Dream reached his arm out as Punz lifted his own arm to lay across the top of the couch, causing Dream's hand to collide with the top of Punz's ribs. The elder let out a squeal, a noise Dream had never heard him make before, and it immediately grabbed his attention. Once his mind finally caught up with the events that had just played out, he smirked menacingly at Punz, holding up his hands and wiggling them in front of the blonde's face.

"Dream...d-don't."

"Punz...do."

"Whahat?! That doesn't even make- nohoho no! Come ohohon, Dreheheam!" Punz was interrupted by rapid pokes into his sides, making him double over and bring his arms down to press against himself in an attempt to block the tickles.

Unfortunately for Punz, Dream didn't seem to have an issue with this, as he continued poking along the blonde's back ribs, his shoulders, into the crook of his neck - wherever he could poke, his tickly fingers were there. But it was when Dream's huge hands wrapped around Punz's thighs, directly above his knees, that the boy exploded with laughter.

"NAHAHA okahahay okAHAY! Mercy, rehehed, pineapple, juhuhust stohohop!"

Dream was laughing almost as hard as Punz, finding the elder's pleads hilarious. Lucky for Punz, this distracted Dream long enough for the boy to pounce and tackle him down onto the couch, Dream's back pressed against the seat of the couch with Punz happily staring down at him. He looked to either side of him and giggled nervously as Punz took hold of each of his wrists, slowly pulling them above Dream's head and making a show of gripping them with one of his hands, rendering them useless.

"Okahay, wait! Let's just call a truce!"

"Absolutely not."

Dream's laughter rang out into the living room as Punz dug his free hand into the center of his tummy, vibrating his hand and teasing Dream about how ticklish he seemed to be. In his struggles, Dream's hands broke free and a proper tickle fight was started. It ended with the blondes on the floor in a giggly heap, both breathless and blushy and exhausted beyond belief.

Sapnap and George found the two a little after that, snapping pictures as the two boys slept on the floor curled up in each others arms, with silly little smiles still on their faces.

hm. thinking about going ahead and putting together and posting that barebones offline version of Mark's RPGSolo system, which is the single best solo/DMless rules-lite i've ever seen or played in my life; i've got a few more things to give a little more loose structure/prompting to people who need it, but it runs perfectly fine as is with what i've got and i think people might enjoy it. the only dice you will ever need for the offline pocket version are a d10 and a d100, if that gives you any idea of how simple it is to pick up and run.

the main reason i made my writeup of the barebones vs the original thing is that the original is online-only, and has percentages that get tweaked on the regular, and i wanted a simple version i could use anywhere and have consistent knowledge of the statistics involved to work from.

that said the original site has a ton of cool extra tools and resources, both on the RP page itself and the forums, and i highly suggest checking it out! the ttrpg scene could use way more assistive tools in the form of programs made to automate crunch, and i really appreciate the creator for setting out to fill that niche for the community and doing the work to make it happen and maintain it. the main site for the actual roleplay can be found here, and the forums can be found here; in particular the documentation index is a great place to get an idea of the basics, and check out the extra tools if you want. i'll post my pocket version here next, and some of the extras on the original site can have a bit of a learning curve, but if you're at all interested in easy, freeform solo/DMless roleplay i 100% recommend giving it a look! (and maybe sending a donation the creator's way, if the spirit takes you.)
