I love how this parallels are so similar and yet so different.

The first one is the more similar and obvious (same pose, cape flying in the same direction, etc.), just the hood being down, but the second? The second is the one that is making me go crazy.

All of it screams "it's the same but it's different" and I love that! The schyte is on the opposite side, with the blade pointing up instead of down, and even the shot is different, no more frontal but partially from the side!

Ruby is still the same, but she's also changed. She still holds the same goals and believes, but she had a lot of experiences which she learned from. In other words, she grew up.

I am so proud of her.

I wanna talk about Blake’s body language around Yang these last two episodes, cuz I think it’s fascinating how open it’s been compared to normal. Like...

This is two episodes in a row where Blake’s body language is uncharacteristically open towards her, three if we count this.

(Which absolutely we should)

But especially those first two poses are very vulnerable body language-wise, which is something we rarely see from Blake. In fact, her signature move body language-wise is this...

Which is very pointedly closing herself off from her surroundings and others, and despite the progress they’d made, she was still doing this around/because of Yang in V7/8.

And Blake has had every reason to be cautious, given what she’s gone through. Which is why this shift is so special.

Not only has Blake’s body language opened up significantly, but she’s pointedly placing her hands behind her back as she does so (and in the case above, also very much getting into Yang’s personal space).

Which is important to note, because in doing so, she makes it much more difficult to defend herself should Yang lash out at her physically (not that she ever would) and more difficult to self-soothe in case of a verbal/emotional conflict.

But now she’s done giving all those concerns a second thought... cuz Yang isn’t scary. And Blake’s tired of Adam’s ghost trying to tell her that she is.

Ruby: I can’t wait to see the new baby!

Jaune: *steps through the door with a baby carrier* Here he is…! Everyone, meet Jamie Nikos-Arc!

Jamie (Arkos baby): 👶 ?

Weiss: *gasps* Oh my gosh, he’s adorable!

Ruby: Can I hold him?!

Jaune: *gently extracts his son from baby carrier and carefully hands him to Ruby* Sure, sure…just make sure to support his head and don’t be too loud, okay…?

Yang: *nudges Pyrrha’s shoulder* You and vomit boy have great genes, P-money!

Blake: *leans close so Jamie can grab her finger* He’s so…tiny! I just can’t get over how tiny he is!

Jamie: *fusses a bit at all the excitement*

Ren: Here, let me…*takes Arkos baby in his arms and hums until Jamie settles and nestles against Ren’s chest with a yawn*

RWBYNR: Awww…! 😍

Weiss: Look! He has Pyrrha’s eyes! They’re so green!

Yang: That kid is going to be a lady killer when he grows up!

Nora: Me next! Me next! *cradles tiny Jamie* Hey little man, I’m your auntie Nora!

Ruby: It’s so crazy that people our age have a baby!

Blake: I’m sure Jaune and Pyrrha feel the same way.

Ren: Jaune, Pyrrha, how have you been doing the past few weeks?

Blake dreams of a carousel. 

Animals dance around her with painted wings and fantastic golden saddles. She stands among them – watching them go by. Such an elegant contraption decorated with jewels and lights. A skin of paint meant to disguise a skeletal contraption of iron poles and chain-work shackles. It creaks and groans as the gears twist and turn, moving it round and round and round. It doesn't sleep. It never stops. It just keeps turning, and turning, and turning, playing the same lively tune as animals leap and pounce over and under, over and under, over and under.
