Gotta appreciate how Black Leg "I'm unlovable, you deserve better than being burdened with me" Sanji is one of those characters that gets shipped with everyone and their moms. Rightfully so, because everyone wants him, he's just very blind to how amazing he is.

I know for the live actions the writers explicitly made the source of the sanji / zoro rivalry luffy (someone’s feeling threatened…..hint it was both of them) but it’s actually so funny when u adopt that perspective for the animanga. zoro just got his ass whipped by mihawk, has a low grade fever and should be napping but instead he’s fighting fishmen, he’s been bored waiting for luffy, and huh? is that the waiter? from the baratie??? the one luffy has been spending all his time with for the last seven days while he’s been working off his debt? and now luffy won’t shut up about his cooking (something sanji can show off three + times a day while zoro only gets to show off sword like once a week)??? on sanji’s side luffy is the first friend he’s ever made who wasn’t a fifty year old pirate smacking him with a ladle who also believes in his dreams…….so like yah it’s on mosshead. it’s ON

When Oda dropped the Shimotsuki family tree everyone jumped on the fact that he couldn’t help further paralleling Zoro and Sanji by naming Ms. Roronoa ‘Tera’ when Sanji’s mom is named ‘Sora’, but few realized that he couldn’t keep his grubby little hands from going even one step further- by confirming that Zoro’s Shimotsuki lineage comes from his dad’s side, meaning that while Sanji is the spitting image of his mom, Zoro canonically looks just like his father.
