LIGHT:

Has survivor syndrome. What's that? Survivor syndrome, also known as survivor's guilt, is the response of a person when they believe they have done something wrong by surviving a traumatic event when others did not, often feeling self-guilt. This can be from being Kira or set before Kira, like an incident from his youth that he forever lingers with. The poor boy didn't really think of his sexual orientation until collage, didn't have the means or needs to and it wasn't only until he dated Misa and began to hang out with L he started to think on it more

In my AU Ryuk and Rem didn't give Light and Misa the Death Notes again and L, Light, Misa, etc didn't die, so this technically takes place the amnesia arc which I argue is a favorite okay?! Still doesn't mean Light gets dreams of him as Kira and isn't aware he was.

MISA:

Got really into the Gothic look after her parents' death where someone was a jerk and said a "joke" when she was still wearing black while she was still grieving

Didn't really fall in love with L right away (obviously) but she did care for him in a way that showed she cared

Loves bubble baths

Like Light she still has dreams of Rem and often find herself crying over the waking of her dreams as if someone killed her loved one in front of her

And like Light she knows after Rem confronted her she was the second Kira and feels terrible about it

After a lot her and Kiyomi kind of became friends, she honestly feels as if Kiyomi reminds her of someone she knew before (ie rem)

As mentioned with L when I said "wedding", the three didn't really want a huge public wedding since that would exposed L's identity and it would be a headache to deal with so they had a secret small ceremony with friends and some family with Watari being L's father-of-the-groom, Sayu as Light's Best Lady, and Kiyomi was Misa's maid of Honor. They each wore a mix of white and black with some red elements thrown in there for many reasons but mostly cause L said they looked good so yeah

They all live in an apartment together, similar as to the building they were all stuck in, and have their own rooms/studies for work while Misa keeps working as a model and actress and both L and Light kept working as detectives until Light decided to leave being a detective after so many nightmares of cases and being Kira and decided to be a true crime/mystery novel writer

One day while they were chilling, pre-marriage them btw, L decided he's going to visit Wammy to get any plans of who his next "L" would be if he died and they came along with him. There they were able to meet Near, Mello, and Matt. The three kids hung out with them during their stay back in Japan to see who is perfect for the next role. Weeks pass and all three are doing really well and it didn't really sink in until later that L is actually doing this to see if he wants kids. Well, Misa and Light like the idea and they ended up adopting Mello as their son in which he admittedly cried

They go on date nights three times a week, one for each pair with their trio dates mostly being at home

Light Yagami's Justification of the use of the Death Note

Light Yagami is a very complex character. He uses the Death Note, a weapon that's capable of killing anyone whose name is written inside of it. Human nature can get pretty dark given the right circumstances but he literally uses the book on an unprecedented scale...enough to change the world. In a single day, his Shinigami, Ryuk, tells him he's never seen the book be used as much as Light has used it and keep in mind Light lives in the modern age and Ryuk says the notebook has dropped in the human world several times beforehand.

Anyway I believe the reason Light continues using the Death Note is more than him being a sociopath/psychopath, although those are very crucial to the reason why...only a person who could be labeled such a thing would even go to the extent that he did and would consider doing the things he's done.

Major reasons for his continuous use of the death note has to do with his goal of changing the world and the fallacies that can be applied to it. Mainly the sunk cost fallacy and the slippery slope fallacy. I apply these to Light and they fit extremely well! Watch the video and let me know what you think!

To be honest? Light didn't knew you that much since you're very careful with the information you shared with others. So you coming to him after you're covered in rain with your clothes all wet didn't bother him. What bother him was the fact you did it because of a cat.

"There's a kitten with its siblings in the rain, they're very small." Seriously? That's the reason why your clothes all wet?

He was quick enough to bring you towels but before you get the chance to grab it; he was already wiping your hair.

You noticed there's Sayu, Light sister. Watching the both of you; she raised an eyebrow over her brothers action but she kept quiet.

Eventually there's a sudden sound coming from you, it was a cat meowing.

What is that? Light's eye slightly twitched before he sees you opening your jacket to reach your pockets.

You bring out three kittens that was feeling very cold because of the rain and constantly meowing.

Just what have you done (M/n)? Light face slam before reaching to take the kittens from your hand and put wrap them in the same towel, you still haven't said anything but until Light turn his attention to your expression.

There you were with your lips turning downward and your eyes squinting, he never saw you got this emotional especially about a cat.

He wished you'd stop using that expression because it made him melt. But his expression were him pouting at you for getting yourself wet.

she’s a little lost when helping with studies, always trying to do something else.

somehow always trying to start tussles with the locals in grocery stores, at one point she was blatantly insulted while shopping and she just started laughing.

the biggest casualty was marrying her due to her troublesome and unpredictable nature, she constantly tests you.

Sayu was nowhere near as troublesome as your wife. There was constant mischief surrounding her, you had begged her to stay quiet and allow you to take the lead for the school interview. You should’ve known better than to tell her what you wanted, she would do the opposite.

Not even a whole two minutes in and there was already discord in the secluded room.

“I’m just saying, it’s a little strange for a hybrid woman and a human woman to raise a child. The fact is one of you is a hybrid I can overlook, but two women?” 

Swan squabbles as if he were some sort of cattle being taken to the slaughterhouse. Sayu remained airheaded, daydreaming about the rolling fields by her home which she was excited to roll in after the visit. 

Yae held her index finger to her chin, “Pardon me, but didn’t you lose your wife and visitation rights? It feels inappropriate to comment on others’ living situation when you weren’t even able to keep your wife nor your daughter.” 

“Why you–”

You held up your hands, the man with glasses next to Swan scolding Yae on her brash comment. You apologized under your breath, none of the men could hear you over Swan’s embarrassed squealing. 

You spoke up, “My dearest apologies, she’s very defensive you see–”

“Dear (Y/N), don’t apologize on my behalf. This man has no obligation to ridicule others' lifestyles, no matter the situation! He’s a downbeat who gets off to the misery of others in an attempt to raise his ego. Please don’t sympathize with such impotence,” her attention was fully on you now, ignoring the argument bubbling within the men on the sofa.

“It isn’t about sympathy, it’s about Sayu getting into the academy!” your voice was hushed, a hand by your mouth.

Yae scoffed and mumbled something you couldn’t understand, “Let’s continue, I’ll remain quiet.”

Swan babbled, “Perhaps we’d ought to kick you out, it’s clear two women are only going to raise a brain dead child.”

Sayu’s soft voice mumbled to the Headmaster, he of which repeated her words, “The child states she enjoys her home life, I think that makes a good enough excuse to allow the wives to continue the interview.”

You tried not to shake when Yae smiled at you.

“What was your relationship like with Miss Yae before you got married, Miss (Y/N)?” Evance was scribbling gibberish down on a clipboard, his pencil strokes quiet.

“We met at a shrine, she was the head shrine maiden and I felt weak in the knees when I saw how gracefully she took care of me. She’s truly an enigma,” You sighed dreamily, “I became a regular and we had gotten engaged fairly quickly, when I saw her get along with my daughter it only made me swoon even further.”

He nodded, “I see, so you’re religious?”

“Not exactly, it’s more for pleasure than religion, I never grew up around the notion.”

“I see, Miss Yae, do you still attend the shrine you had met Miss (Y/N) in?” 

She smiled more sweetly than before, “Yes, and each time she visits me I get to relive the moment of adoration when we had first encountered each other. A magical feeling.”

“Aren’t most religions against the idea of same-sex marriage? Wouldn’t you be betraying your God?” Swan spoke up again, visible rage upon his features. Her ear twitched, “God doesn’t pay me to do hard work or follow its rules. I disbelieve in the afterlife and karma.” Yae fiddled with her collar bashfully, “If I’m disobeying him, it was worth it, (Y/N) and Sayu’s company are much more rewarding than anything else.”

A foreign warmth bubbled in your stomach when she praised you, despite the fact the marriage was only for the title, you couldn’t help but be flustered.

“Tell me, Sayu, was it?” Evance started, “Do you enjoy your new mother?”

The small girl, though consumed by the softness of the cushions, perked up with bright eyes. Her brows furrowed in a troubled but determined expression where she forced a convincing smile.

“Yes! I want to be with them forever!”

The Headmaster grumbled praise, the anxiety in your core growing fainter with the flow of conversation. The moment was short lived.

“So, would you prefer your actual father then?”

You’ve only known Yae for a few months, been married to her for the majority of that time. Never once have you ever seen her genuinely enraged by anything. In the corner of your eye, you made out the fury of which dressed itself upon her features which held a smile for so long. The room was unmoving with thick tension, only becoming more infused with Yae’s unconditional rage once Sayu showed the slightest hint of discomfort. 

“Oh my,” she started, “Looks like there’s a pig loose, please allow me to catch it.”

There wasn’t enough time to stop her. Her hand went snag to the remains of Swan’s hair and smashed it into the coffee table with a graphic crack. His nose was dug through the wood and on the wool rug beneath them, nose cracking under the pressure of her sheer strength. Once she lifted her hand from his cranium, her sharp nails dug into the skin of his scalp.

“Pardon me…” she stated again, you didn’t dare breathe, “He should stay quiet for now, please do your best to contain your pets.”

There was no possible way you were ever getting to the academy, or any academy at this rate.

NINGGUANG

isn’t fond of older children, she can get along with toddlers fine.

has a talent for cooking, and would rather cook for you then you cook for her.

married you for tax benefits, and agreed to help you with your endeavors with little Qiqi, she herself was also attached.

thinks money can solve everything, you forgot your keys to the apartment once and she tossed a variety of coins at you and continued to walk to the train station by herself. 

hates leaving Qiqi home alone, she gave you one hell of a lecture when she found out she was left alone semi-regularly.

Your wife was responsible, and you pride yourself on picking such a lovely woman to marry you. She had her ups and downs, like most people, but overall she has to be the best fit for you.

The interview for the academy was as smooth as ever, you’d taken the lead. The youngest of the men being Swan had made multiple double sided comments which you brushed off with the utmost of respect. You couldn’t help but notice Ningguang’s side eye you while you submissively bowed to their will.

“Who cooks at home? Considering you’re both women,” Swan said, eyes bore into your own.

You pulled on a strained smile, “Ningguang does most of it, I work later nights than I’d like to admit so I’m rarely home in time to cook.”

“Did you cook for your late husband?” he continued.

“No, sir. I dislike cooking.”

He scoffed, as if he were absolutely disgusted with the fact you couldn’t cook, “What kind of woman is useless in the kitchen? Surely this is why you gave up on trying to marry men.”

Ningguang quickly interjected, “Excuse me, but why does that matter for school admission? I thought this school prided itself on the height of education, not petty gender roles.”

The Headmaster quickly stood up straighter, he nodded and instructed the interview to continue while Swan leaned back into the sofa cushion.

“So, what was the relationship between you two before you got married?” Evance, the much more understanding man, finally spoke.

You put a hand to your chin, “Well, we met at our workplace. We’d only been coworkers until I got up the courage to ask to become friends, it eventually blossomed into something more.”

Evance nodded, then asked Qiqi his own questions for her. The memory exercises seemed to have been useful, her monotone voice didn’t waver and her stuttering was to a minimum. You were beyond proud of her progress, especially since she had gotten so invested in the ongoing conversations between her and Evance.

It was all short lived.

“You’re the legitimate daughter of Miss (Y/N) and the man before Miss Ningguang, correct?” Evance asked, his eyes skimming over the bunch of printed text before him.

Qiqi tilted her head, “What is, lejitay… mate?”

The Headmaster spoke first, “Is she your real mommy?”

“Of course, she’s my true mommy. The best of the best.”

“Well spoken,” the Headmaster praised.

Swan opened his fat mouth once more, “Would you prefer your old daddy? Or two mommies?”

Everyone in the room seemed to stop breathing, and every bone in your body screamed with bloodied and boiling rage. You can’t remember the last time you had been so infuriated, you don’t even know if you had ever been that infuriated. The entire room froze with shock, the girl in the lone chair started shaking uncontrollably. “Swan! Please have some respect!” Evance scolded, the Headmaster harshly cussed at the said man.

Ningguang watched you carefully restrain yourself, she made her way towards Qiqi and lifted her in her arms.

“I am Ningguang, Tianquan of Liyue Qixing. I own the Jade chamber which had defied laws of physics not even recorded yet. You mock my daughter, you mock me, you mock my lover,” She started, face devoid of human emotion, “You may be the height of education, no matter how many titles this establishment carries, no matter how many titles the employees carry. I am ten times more than you or this establishment will ever be.”

The shaking Qiqi was secured in her arms as she sauntered out, calling out your name which you quickly followed behind.

When you got home it was quiet, the walk was silent except the tapping of Ningguangs heeled shoes. You didn’t dare speak, Qiqi couldn’t do much but sulk in her arms. As soon as you had reached the apartment, you didn’t even get the chance to take your shoes off until she was on the telephone dialing spontaneous numbers. Qiqi found solitude in her bedroom.

“Hello?” Ningguang spoke into the phone, you noticed her lipstick was smeared, “You’re aware of the ultimate Teyvat Academy? Correct? Good, well find the man who owns the estate and purchase the entire thing. I could care less for price tags or investments, do what you have to do and buy it.”

You stared at her with your mouth wide open, that’s one way to get into the academy… 

LISA MINCI

Lisa actually really likes working with kids! Her favorite are probably toddlers. 

she works with Klee really well, however when Klee gets stubborn about her studies things can get rocky. 

Lisa has a tendency of over rewarding, not that it’s a bad thing! 

not the best at cooking, very good with baking though.

Klee left you hopeless on so many occasions that you couldn’t remember. When you were first handed this mission you had no idea how to respond other than a curt nod and be on your way. The entire world depended on you. Depend on you, your wife, and your disaster of a child.

It was time. You and your family walked into the interview waiting room in absolute silence. The anxiety was potent enough that you started to bounce your leg up and down, Lisa put her hand on your knee. Now wasn’t a time for visible fear, put on a brave face and tread forward. 

Fake it until you make it, you suppose.

The three older men in the room eyes widened once they saw Lisa follow in after you, they probably assumed the both of you were sisters. Although you had read the regulations very carefully, they never mentioned specifically that a man and a woman were the only ones that could pass the interview. It was the mass majority, but you had your worries. There was just no way you would conveniently marry a man under any context. 

You sat down in the seat closest to Klee. 

“Ah, welcome. Are you both sisters?” the man with thick glasses asked, he was in his early fifties with a kind tone.

Lisa and you both lifted your left hand revealing the matching wedding band.

“No sir, we are legally married,” you stated.

The chubbier man in the middle, Swan, snorted, “So the child does not belong to you biologically?”

You felt your jaw clench, “You see, I was married to a man previously. He passed away from illness, and Lisa swept me off my feet in my time of need. I indeed gave birth to Klee.”

‘Mama’s lying…’ Klee thought to herself, a nervous smile stretching her cheeks. 

Swan went to say something, but was cut off by Evance, “So this is your second marriage?”

“Yes, sir.”

You could hear Klee’s fidgeting as she straightened her skirt with uneasy hands.

Evance looked through a clipboard with scattered papers, “What was your relationship like before you got married to Lisa? How did you meet?”

A dreamy sigh left your lips, “We met at a diner, as soon as our eyes met I felt my knees buckle and my chest heat up… I thought of my late husband who would’ve willed me to move on when he passed, we’d talked only for a brief while before engagement.”

Lisa used the tip on her fingers to hide a creeping smile with pink cheeks. She hummed in agreement.

“...And yourself?” Evance directed his attention to your wife.

She nodded, “Well, I’m not the best with straightforward words… But (Y/N) treated me more kindly than anybody I had ever been with previously. She’s impossibly patient, there’s nobody I’d rather spend my life with.”

Well spoken!

Swan spoke up again, “When did you realize you prefer women over men?”

His eyes bore into yours, as if he was mocking you entirely.

“I’ve never put a label on attraction, it’s been like this since I was little. I enjoy the company of both sexes.”

You were lying, Klee knew. She knew from the looks of frustration you would give informants when they would hand you certificates of bachelors, but she didn’t mind. She enjoyed having two mothers.

Swan turned his head towards the child, “Do you enjoy having two mommies? Don’t you think it would be better if you had a Daddy instead?”

There was something boiling inside your stomach, your cheeks felt hot with absolute anger. Your hands were bunched up with the fabric of your pants.

Calm down. It’s fine.

You looked at Klee, tears glistened in her eyes. Your heart raced when you saw Lisa stand up to go comfort her, you could feel your entire body twitch upon instinct when you heard her sobbing. 

“So she prefers a father after all.”

That comment sent your nerves into a frenzy of rage. Lisa beat you two it, smashing the entire table in half with her foot. The three men jumped back in absolute terror, Swan letting out some sort of squeal. Lisa lifted up the tip of her heel, wood crumbling around it.

She mumbled, a terrifying smile upon her face as she looked down to Swan. His legs were shaking with his collar stuffed with fat and sweat, eye contact never breaking between the two. Lisa lifted her leg completely and took her purple heel off her foot, revealing the faint stain of a crushed bug upon the bottom. 

Lisa giggled, “Please forgive me, but there was a mosquito upon the table and I just couldn’t help myself. Looks a bit like you, doesn’t it, Swan?”

You weren’t getting into this school. No matter how much you may pray to some sort of God.

What do you think a female near or mello, L, or light would turn out like?

Okay, this is an interesting question and I've always wanted to say something about this. Don't know if I'll answer your question in the way you expected, but I appreciate the input.

I study sociology and I don't think it's ground-breaking to say this but your gender, by default, without any external input, doesn't determine your behaviour. It's how you are socialized that does, which is influenced by how those around you think of that gender, their expectations, how they behave towards you, what they teach and show, etc.

So, if we take Light, L, Mello and Near as they are in canon, but just swap their genders, there would be no difference, because that's how they were socialized, even if they were women. They would still think and act the same.

But if we take the attitude towards women of those around them and don't consider 100% their canon personalities, then things change a bit. However, there are too many variables to consider: the position of women in the world, how they are treated, and how they are looked down since birth, their specific situation, what people were around when they were kids, etc.

So, I'll skip some of the most important years for development, make a broad generalisation of their experience, pretend it would be roughly the same as in the canon and start after L’s death for Mello and Near, during Kira case for L and Light.

So, now, one by one if they were female, while the other are the same:

L LAWLIET

She would be the same as male L. She would still be an orphan raised by Watari (who doesn't seem to have any bias for men or women), so he would treat L the same as in the canon and L would still become the world's greatest detective, because no one would know her gender, and have all male L’s quirks, since social norms on how women are expected to behave wouldn’t influence her.

And I believe she would be able to distance herself from her gender when working, as to not make people suspicious of her identity. If she were to hear unwarranted comments on women from those she works with, I think she would either shut them down, but wouldn’t call them out on their sexism/misogyny but rather on the fact that their talking is pointless and does no good for the case, or just don’t care.

About her and the task force (just the main three, because I believe Mogi doesn’t give a shit whatsoever if he’s working for/with a woman or man):

Matsuda:

I don’t completely get the dynamics of L x Matsuda, so I am not going to say that, given canon, it’s more probable for him to fall for her, because she’s a woman and we’ve seen how he behaves towards Misa and Sayu, since those are entirely different situation. I think, thought, that Matsuda would be less vocally doubtful of her and more incline to forgive any harsh words she might reserve him. I also believe he might make comments on how it’s impressive “for a woman” to reach that status, but without any malicious intent, because he doesn’t realize what that implies.

Aizawa:

I really love him, I do. But I also believe he might comment on her behaviour, how that’s not lady-like. Other than that, I can’t really tell you how he would act, because we mostly see him interact with men.

Someone pointed out that he had a fight with his wife, in which he ended up injured, possibly pointing out DV. That happened once and it’s not really confirmed, but if it’s true, then it might have an impact on how he behaves towards her and would be a little more lenient, because he might be afraid that she would get physical with him, especially after seeing her beating up Light (in this scenario, she does).

We don’t see him having that type of behaviour with Misa, because she isn’t the violent type physically, while female L would be.

I already talk too much about his dynamic with male L, and how I love it, and I think it would be 100% better with female L, because I love women. I don’t have much to say about that lol, and now I am thinking about a possible scenario in which, if the DV allegations are true, female L might be the one to help him through it. Quite wholesome and I would do anything to see that happen.

Soichiro:

He is already quite close to male L. He would reserve her the same treatment but his "father-figureness" would be amplified by ten. He has a strong protective feeling towards his daughter and wife, so if he gets emotionally close to female L, he might try to convince her to do less reckless stuff and might doubt more if her actions are appropriate, but out of protection and not because he doesn’t see her as capable. He seems to judge people on character and not gender. He doesn’t say that Sayu can’t be Kira because she would kill someone and then cry her eyes out since she’s a girl, but because she is kind-hearted.

Also, let’s not forget that L is a young adult that has only Watari. How do you think he would feel seeing this young woman without any parents around her for a year? He’s a family man, after all. An old man who isn’t even around most of the time, in his eyes, might not fill that void. He would definitely catch himself thinking of her as a daughter for a second, like, “what would I do and say if she were Sayu?... Wait, but she’s not. Why did I think like that?”

Moving on.

Light would see her as easily beatable. When she demonstrates to be extremely skilful, he would lie to himself saying that’s luck, and when he manages to get her killed, he would only see it as a confirmation of what he had believed throughout the whole thing.

The last thing that comes to mind is that L would have to deal with Misa’s jealousy. Misa would be less homophobic; instead, she would develop some misogyny and act very bitchy towards L, because not only she is going to arrest Light, if she finds out he's Kira, but she’s a woman who could steal him from her, even though she has literally no reason to believe so.

There would be a one-sided feud, in which L would only try to help her understand that she is no way, shape or form interested in Light romantically. Misa would not believe it, so L would have to insist, and that would be very annoying and hinder her work.

MELLO

Since her past and Wammy’s house experience would be the same as male Mello, the personality would be quite the same. It’s after she leaves the Wammy’s House that things are different.

It’s harder for a young girl to get to that position in the mafia, even if she’s skilled and proves that. She would get them to respect her, but it would take a lot of time and effort. I honestly don’t know enough about the mafia members, but the woman we see in the panels seems to be more like a trophy to be displayed than anything else, so that's my baseline on how they treat women inside the group.

Now, the question is, did she join a crime organization, or did she form it?

In the first case, there’s nothing she can do about it, and, after the initial dismissal, she would need to do some extreme act or show how extraordinary she is to get under their skin and get them to trust her. After that, I believe the group would treat her more or less like they treat male Mello. Probably, they would be more protective, because, even though she would have his same body type, she would still be seen as physically weak. I am also afraid that some of them might try to get intimate with her.

In the second case, I believe she would get more women on the team, because she would realise their actual potential that no one in the Death Note universe sees.

Everything else – her relation with Near, Lidner and Matt – would be the same. The only thing different would be how the fandom would see all of this, which would be… Not nice, given how they acted with Misa in the beginning and how many already see male Mello. Probably they would see her as actually inferior to Near, driven mostly by emotions and not logic, who decided to sacrifice herself because she realised she couldn’t win, that she was horrible for seeing the Kira case as a game, and that what she did to Takada was even worse and that given her the blanket was common sense, and not as act of not seeing women as tools. However, they would still think it was stupid of her, of course, but that would be a recurrent argument against her.

I also think the fandom would draw heinous ass fanarts about her and L, because they would see the similarities or something, and spin it in a weird way. I don’t want to think about it, honestly, but that's the feeling I get.

NEAR

Pretty much the same situation as Mello, but with SPK. I don’t think its members have any biased towards men or women, but I feel like Near would have a harder time convincing the Head of the FBI and the President of everything she had gathered. After that, the work would go down as we have seen in the canon, except for the fact that the President would be harsher in his actions when he stops supporting the SPK.

If I remember correctly, Light finds out Near and Mello’s genders on Oct. 15, so pretty much at the beginning of the second part.

Near would definitely be looked down by Light, more than he would do with female Mello, because the latter, seen as more emotional than Near, would be more difficult to control and would mostly exasperate him. I honestly think that Light would doubt Near until the end, because he generally sees women as inferiors and thinks he can get away with whatever, especially after years. He would use her gender as an excuse to make the task force not believe her and it would make him think that she might be easily manipulated. He would also have a harder time believing that he’s cornered and that he lost.

Female Near would behave pretty much exactly as male Near. However, if she hears Light talk down on her, and it's implied it's because she's a woman, she wouldn't refrain from calling him out.

LIGHT

This is a bit complicated. Soichiro explicitly stated that her daughter would never date a cop. I think he did it because it’s his daughter, so, in my opinion, that would make things difficult for Light to get close to the task force or L. Soichiro would still believe she might be Kira, based on her character that is the same as male Light, but he would not like the idea of her having to work so closely to Matsuda. He might accept it at the end but would clearly make sure Matsuda doesn’t get near her.

Her gender could worsen Soichiro’s relation with L, especially if he beats her up like he did with male Light, but I don’t think Light might start the fight, because, in the canon, he takes into consideration Naomi’s body, when thinking about the possibility of physically fighting her, so that characteristic of him still exists. Light would think it is not worth it, and I also believe she might use her gender as a way to convince the task force or whoever that she is just an innocent weak young woman who has done nothing wrong and got wrongfully accused by L.

This would definitely piss off L and he would want to call her bullshit out, but he would realise that that would make the task force side more and more with her, which is not favourable. In private, he would tell her to cut the act, while she would act confused and all, but, other than that, L would have to change his attitude towards her, if he wants the task force to believe him. They already don’t entirely trust him in the canon. Imagine if Light was a woman, seen as weaker, who manipulates others using the stereotypes associated with girls. L can’t just go after her full force and his actions be labelled as the one of someone who simply hates women. He would want to, don’t get me wrong, but he would know that it’s not a good move.

And I say that Light might use her gender, because Wendy is said to do that, so I do believe that if Ohba made Light a woman, she would be the same. Also, I think it’s an advantage to use what society imposes on you, namely the idea that women cannot commit that level of evil for reasons that are not related to romance. Light doesn’t even have any love interest that could push her to the limit, so there's that.

I like to believe that Light would kill people based on the wrong they do to women, aka if they are misogynists, incels, redpills, etc. But if there is this pattern, L would realise that Kira could be a woman, and that’s not good. She might let live those who aren’t very sexist but would carefully plan how to kill the ones who are vocal about their hatred for women, so the reason they died would seem to be an accident and not directly connected to their beliefs.

When it comes to Misa, she is not interested in women in the canon, so I don’t think her obsession would border into romantic, but she would still be very obsessed with Light. Obsessions don’t necessarily have to be amorous. Light, even if she likes women, would still treat her the same as male Light did, because she would still see everyone as inferior. She wouldn’t kill misogynist because they hate women, but because she is a woman and her ego is directly affected by it, so she wouldn’t empathise with Misa at all, just because they share the same gender.

So, that’s my opinion. I don’t buy into that whole trend of completely changing their personality based on their gender, because that’s not how it works. If you wanted an answer like that, you should’ve added details on their experience and environment in their childhood and teenage years so I could infer on how they would’ve grown up.

on halloween, when you set out the pumpkins, near timaeus' alchemy stall, to hand out sweets, she was so blushy when you kissed he cheek under the spooky silver moon!

'oh! i made some special candies, if you wanted to try them! they're made from our pumpkins!'

XIAO -

you wanted him to do what?? why would the vigilant yaksha, protector of liyue, do something so childish and strange?

when you finally convince him, with mild begging (how could he say no to those eyes?), he hated the pumpkin guts. disgusting, slimy and cold. you would have to dispose of them yourself.

when he begins carving, he does so quite aggressively, but when you ask to see what he's done, a delicate bird shape adorns the gourd.

as you eat lots of candy, in celebration, you explain, he looks at you with that soft gaze reserved for his to favorite things, almond tofu, and yourself.

'oH- IT'S ALL GROSS AND SLIMY, YOU EXPECT ME TO TOUCH THAT CRAP?? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!'

KAZUHA -

beidou came to bully (affectionately) him and ning came along, she walked up and did the childish 'oOoOoOoooOo- kazuha and (name), sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!' ningguang had to physically drag her away to go to the costume party thet were invited to (ning was a mermaid and beidou was a fisherwoman <3)

once you actually start carving, he'll carve the most intricate thing you've ever seen, and he does it so fast it'll make your head spin.

the rest of the crux catches wind (ha- anemo, get it??), they make pumpkins too! the alcor is aglow with a million little lights, and its docked in liyue harbor.

while the crux goes out drinking, you and kazuha sit in the crows nest, gazing upon the stars, he reaches over, and places his hand on yours, and hums contentedly.

'bei- beidou!' 'ahahah- have fun with your giiirlfriieeend/booyyyfriiieeend/significant ooootheeerrrr'

VENTI -

he was soooo excited! he couldn't wait! he talked about it the night before you planned to at the tavern! (diluc got kinda tired of hearing about it lol)

he is so childish. he threw a handful of pumpkin guts at you. right in your face. you weren't too upset though.

he carved a self-portrait! a messy little thing of his wind spirit form! it was soooo cute.

as i mentioned before, he pretends to be a kid to get free candy, so after sorting it on the rug, he shared some with you!

'wha? you want the sweet flower candies i got from sucrose?! nuh-uh! those are my favorites! ...fiiineee i guess i'll share'

AETHER - (not technically anemo, but my they almost never get included :()

while he is looking for his sister, he wants to spend time with you aswell! he remembers carving pumpkins with lumine in a different world, and gets a little sad, but thinks about how she wouldn't want him to be sad right now!

he actually likes touching the goo! thinks it feels neat. he also told paimon it tasted good, like slime, as a joke, but then she actually enjoyed it! then he tried some, as did you, but it really wasn't great (speaking from experience)

he carved pretty stars on it! nothing fancy. paimon carved a fish.

and you sat, on a rock in the wilderness, telling spooky stories around a campfire, while paimon was cowering. he laughed at all the right points in your tale, and even suggested telling some more in liyue harbor, sure the patrons of tea houses would recognize your obvious talent.

'no really! im serious! it's super good!' 'yeah, even paimon got scared!'

LUMINE -

she really likes halloween, remembering all the times she's scared aether, and planned to scare you!

she went and picked the biggest pumpkin she could find! it was soooo big, you all had to work on it together!

on her portion, she carved a scary face!! paimon carved in some bread.

she went to show the knights, proud of her handiwork, and lisa almost fainted! sucrose wanted to know where she found the pumpkin, for research purposes! and klee said it would be super cool filled with bombs.

'maybe klee's right? oh! we could put firecrackers in it! loud noises are scary!'

SAYU - (keep in mind this is platonic)

she doesn't wanna carve the pumpkin, it'll be sooo tiring, she says, but when told it might help her get taller, she immediately agrees!

she doesn't really carve her pumpkin, but gutted it and fell asleep inside! she also added eye holes!

she watched you carve yours through the little holes, and thought it was sooo cool!!

'maybe celebrating holidays with you is so bad, i think i grew an inch!'

I was thinking maybe it could be something like he’s using his mind games to try and convince the reader to doing something they usually wouldn’t, to help kira, he succeeds in the end. Idk, Light being a manipulative bastard. Maybe in his room? Forced the reader to come home with him? I think reader would have an idea that Light is Kira but it only gets confirmed that night. You felt like you were choking.

The walk towards Light’s house was quiet, but inside, your head was a mess and awash with anxiety. For the past couple of weeks, you had noticed something was wrong with your classmate.

After the broadcast with this “L” figure, Light had become withdrawn. Aloof. Sure, he was always kind and helpful towards you and the rest of your classmates, but there was something lurking inside of his dark brown eyes. It was as if he had realized that there was a life outside of studying and college.

Like he had found his calling.

Normally, you would have applauded an epiphany, but a sense of foreboding held you back.

Over the past few weeks, you had tried reaching out to your friend. However, you didn’t count on him being so elusive. Was he always this evasive? When had he become the master of deflection? You couldn’t remember the last time he had smiled with pure genuine happiness or the last time he looked… peaceful.

Now, as you tagged behind him in the dark streets, you were wary of his motives.

In the past, you had no reason to be concerned. You two were nothing more than study buddies—much to Sayu’s consternation. You hadn’t thought about pursuing a relationship other than platonic trust because for all intents and purposes, he was untouchable. Like a star that burned way too hot and way too bright for ordinary commoners like you. However, as your worry grew, so did your fascination.

Before, he had been somewhat of a loner, but he still had kind words for those who approached him. Nowadays, you caught him furiously writing in a dark black notebook. It wasn’t idle doodling or aimless writing. His strokes were near and precise. Efficient.

What could he be writing?

You had approached him several times, but before your eyes could catch a glimpse of the notebook’s contents, he would swiftly grab your attention with a well timed quip.

And when you finally remembered what you were about to ask, he was long gone and you were left frustrated.

And concerned.

Behavior like this… something was wrong with Light, but you didn’t know what.

On the outside, he was the same star student who was the envy of every aspiring student. Despite that, however, you couldn’t help but notice that he was also becoming easier to agitate, paranoid even.

Sometimes, you could catch him looking over his shoulder or talking to himself when he thought no one was looking.

So, because you thought you were being a good friend, you decided to confront him.

“Hey, Light.” A nice start, plain and simple. “Has something been bothering you lately? You seem… off. Lately.”

You finish lamely, your eyes darting to the side when you accidentally locked gazes with him. You were far from a shy wallflower when it came to speaking with someone you had known for quite some time, but you felt like you were being examined under a microscope. You didn’t want to accuse, but you felt… distaste rolling off Light in waves.

Just as suddenly as you thought that, the brunet boy laughed gaily before shrugging his shoulders.

“Is it that bad?” He smiled wide, his bright white teeth flashing. He leaned back in his chair and appraised you. “I suppose I could say that I’ve been stressed out with… extracurriculars lately.”

“O-oh!” You rocked back on your heels, somewhat mollified by his answer. “I’ve just been watching you lately. Are you writing in a diary or something?”

Light’s eyes flashed with a dark something that you couldn’t quite grasp or understand before he abruptly stood up from his desk. The sudden movement had you moving backwards on instinct, your eyes taking in the way that he seemed to loom over you and that his shadow seemed so dark, so all encompassing under the light.

“And how long have you been watching?”

“Ever since…” You frowned as you thought about the last few weeks, your blood running cold as you made a connection, weak it may seem, in your mind. He must have seen hesitation on your part because he leaned in close, a brow raised in question. “Ever since that famous detective declared war on Kira.”

It came out as a whisper, but it might have been as loud as a gunshot.

“And… have you informed other people of what I have been doing?” His eyes darted to the side, as if he were trying to communicate something to a person that wasn’t there. To say you were confused and concerned was an understatement.

Your eyes widened at such a weird question.

“No… should I have?”

Light shook his head, his eyes never leaving your own.

“Be careful. You never quite know what happens to people who nose into other people’s business.”

For a while, you had been satiated. Discomfited and wary of Light, but satiated.

And then, one day, you had been walking to class and you saw a piece of paper fall from a sheaf of documents that Light had been leafing through. Quickly, you swooped it up into your arms and tried calling out for him to stop. Unfortunately, Light had long strides and had turned the corner far faster than what you had thought was possible. With a sigh, you happened to glance upon the document when you saw… You saw something peculiar.

You saw photos followed by names printed neatly in his hand. It was three photos across and five photos down, which meant fifteen photos in all. What really caught your eye, however, was that your photo was pinned in the middle of the sea of faces.

And the space where your name would have been remained blank.

And when you did, Light asked, with all the seriousness of an inmate on death row, asked, “And what can you deduce from this?”

Photos.

Names.

Then it hit you.

Names and faces.

You quickly racked your brain and remembered the broadcast that had been seen by almost everyone within the region and had been uploaded onto the internet.

Kira kills by using names and faces.

Could it be?

“I…” You couldn’t say anything. Slowly, you looked up and instead of seeing nervousness or anxiety (feelings that you would have associated with someone who was most likely the… the killer that had set the world abuzz with political discourse), all you saw was calculated amusement.

Like he was a cat and you were a mouse.

You had been set up.

“Then you should know that you’re in a precarious position now. Follow me.”

Without waiting for you, Light led you to his house. His strides were well paced and measured while you scurried behind him like a frightened rabbit. You tried to speak some sense into him, but all you received was an aloof smile and a hardness in his eyes that you had never seen before.

Now, you were all but silent as you finally crossed into the abode of his home.

His mother was always a delight and had inquired into your welfare while Sayu gushed in the background. As you responded to both Yagami women, Light shepherded you into his room and it was there that he finally let the mask that you had been observing for the past few weeks finally fall off.

In an instant, Light had cornered you against a wall.

You were trapped.

“You’re a bright student, aren’t you?” He placed a hand upon your shoulder, the warm almost overpowering and so out of character for the normally unreachable, untouchable Light Yagami. At your nod, his grip became harsh and blunt fingernails dug deep into your skin through your uniform. “Then I suppose you already put the dots together, right?”

“I…” Nails bit into flesh and you couldn’t help but yelp from the sudden pressure. “You’re… you’re him!”

He glowered down at you before a smirk tugged at his lips.

“It’s not a bad word,” he chided. Grasping your chin, he angled your head so that your vision was filled with only him. “Come on. Say it. It’s only one word, it won’t kill you.”

But Kira could.

And he was Kira.

Your whisper was soft, and if it were any other situation, you might have described your voice as being reverent.

“You’re… Kira.”

“Correct.” He released you and showed you the paper, your photo so distinct and different from the rest for the sole reason that your name was not written down. “And now that we’re on the same page, I have one more question to ask.”

He grabbed a pen from his desk and twirled it in hand. The action, while lackadaisical, filled you with dread.

Names and faces.

Your name was only a few pen strokes away from what you could only think was your death.

He leaned his head against the palm of his hand, before continuing.

With a voice far too chipper and enthusiastic, he asked, “Would you like to know how I kill?”
