Please tell me if you think it's offensive to make a different post for visually-impaired people instead of just making the main post accessible. I'm also waiting for an answer to an ask that will help me make better screenreader-friendly posts, but I thought I'd post the other version right now and edit it later. Sorry if that's bad. honestly, I kind of want to post about the real reason I left the trօn fandom (knowing I was constantly not very far removed from someone who cyberstalked and doxxed me), but at this point it just feels kind of moot. I don't know how I put up with knowing that for as long as I did? But like, what's the point of talking about it now? Naming him would feel like harassment, especially because I don't really know if I want back into the fandom anyways, but not naming him feels terrible. Like, I used to be his friend? I feel like people deserve to know he's got that side of him, because being friends with him at one point wasn't enough to keep me safe.
Everybody always talks about how people deserve growth and room to grow, but no one talks about how hard it is to find a middle ground between that (lofty but largely true) ideal and like, knowing you will never be safe around someone again, because every chance you've given to them has put you in danger.
I don't think I'm ready to put Trօn behind me, either. I stand by how much I love Trօn 2.0, and I love the friends I made in this community. But man, the tumblr side of the fandom is so cliquey and tiny that I always feel like I'm being watched. Combine that with knowing someone who legitimately did stalk and doxx me is a part of the fandom here and it's just not great.

ClanGen Resources Masterpost
Something not so cool is that you can really only find the majority of our resources via our Discord server, and that's frustrating and exclusionary. We get it! To help bridge that gap, Fable and Chibi have put together a list of our most useful resources.
This will be kept updated and maintained for all our friends on Tumblr, we hope folks find this helpful! All of these resources are made by the amazing members of our community. Thank you all for loving our game!

Cere's Tortie Guide
☆ Link ☆ Coding in a tortoiseshell or calico can be frustrating. This concise, easy-to-follow guide goes over how to do it, complete with examples!
Cere's Conditions List & Scribble's Conditions Guide
Cere's List ☆ Scribble's Guide These two guides go hand-in-hand (or... paw-in-paw?) to walk you through editing in conditions for your cats!
Acorn's Inheritance Guide
☆ Link ☆ Have you ever wondered just how ClanGen determines what a litter of kittens might look like? How in-depth IS our genetics system, anyways?! The wonderful Acorn will walk you through it here!
blackkat's Wildcard Tortie Checker

It's here, it's here. The long awaited Chapter 7 is here.
After the MC got knocked out at the end of ch6 they awake back at the hotel, with Charlie telling them of the rescue mission to get them back. And that an old friend of Lynwood's has joined them, albeit just temporarily. Or maybe he's meant to stay? Also there's a cat.
Play it HERE
-
Updates & Changes (Version 7.0; 10/12/2024)
Added Chapter 7
Added Interlude Chapters from Charlie, Mrs. Meadow's and Lynwood's perspective (Lynwood's is atm incomplete and will be added with the ch8 update)
Updated skintone options
Added option for whether MC swears
Added options to not reveal if you're trans/under the umbrella
Added options to say if you bind/pad your chest or if you are flat-chested
Various bug and prose fixes.
Total Wordcount of this update (with code) 46725 words, bringing the overall wordcount (according to twine) to ~219000 (not counting unused/notes passages).
Can't give an average, sorry, but might very well be around 100k per playthrough now.
Note:
With this update the Choicescript version is on ice, though if there's ever a change to how CoG handles publishing (and if CS gets expanded array usage), who knows what the future holds for a more mobile and screenreader friendly version of Ballad.
For those new to the game:
Tumblr media
The West is Wild and the West is Weird. A new century is around the corner, and you are an outlaw traversing the towns and terrains of the Frontier, only to one evening get wrapped up in chasing down the means to stop a doomsday cult from bringing forth the end of days. You’ll face hustlers, grifters, gunslingers and vengeful brides as you make your way to the ghost town of Devil’s Creek to find answers, and hopefully get out of there alive.
Tumblr media
What can you play as?
Ballad allows you to set your a broad variety of factor besides gender and age, all which will have a variety of impacts on the story.
Who can you romance?
Right now there are six possible ROs, with more going to be added later:
Charlie, your best friend and partner in crime
Seán and Tommy, and odd couple of outlaws happenstance put into your little posse (they can only be romanced together)
Lynwood, a Pinkerton Agent on Seán's trail
Mrs. Meadows, widow, sharp-shooter and doctor there to make sure you'll uphold your end of the deal
Isaac, former colleague of Lynwood's picking up the trail of a cold case
Tumblr media
As this is a Weird West game, some Warnings do apply:
Death
Blood
Violence
Swearing
Alcohol
Smoking
Mindsets and Vocabulary of the late 19th century North America/Europe
Mentions/Discussions of
Sexual Violence/Abuse
Spousal/Parental Abuse

Murder
Animal Death/Animal abuse
Guns
Spiritism

Tumblr media
Like what you're seeing?
You can support the author on Pat or Ko.

But now, have fun with the game.
Stay safe, stay hydrated, stay weird. <3

i want to write something nice and meaningful about fiddleford not hating gubby but i have to pack so this is all i have in me
transcript/screenreader version below cut because it's kind of long
image ID: a screenshot of a text file i wrote of a quarter-assed fanfiction about fiddleford and the shapeshifter. many words are misspelled and there are countless grammatical and punctuation errors. end image ID.
screenreader-friendly image transcript:
once upon a time fiddleford was hanging out in the bunker. bunkers are man-made underground spaces so you would think it would be really cold because places that are underground are usually cold. well you would be right but fiddleford was really hot today in the bunker because he was working so hard and sexily. he was sticking out his nonexistent ass as his head was buried in some machine thing i don't know engineering.
suddenly ford came up behind him. "hello" said ford.
"agh" said fiddleford and he was startled and banged his head against the machine and got a huge concussion and lost consciousness for a couple hours. but when he came to ford was still waiting there patiently so they continued their conversation. "what's up."
"look at this thing i found" said ford and he held up a pile of slime.
"that's disgusting waht is that. is that like a dead jellyfish" asked fiddleford. just then the slime moved! and took the shape of the wrench that fiddleford was holding (i forgot to mention he was holding a wrench but trust me it was there the whole time).
"what the hell is that." said fiddleford.
"it's a shapeshifter ❤️" said ford and he held the wrench up to his his lips and kissed it tenderly. for a split second fiddleford felt a little bit jealous of a wrench but stopped feeling that way because it was stupid. "i am going to raise it as my son" finished ford.
fiddleford watched as the wrench changed back into a grub thing and it jumped onto his head and started sucking on his open head wound. "idk it's kind of ugly" he said.
ford frowned. "fiddleford... i thought you of all people would be more accepting of guys who are a little bit different..." he said gayly.
fiddleford felt bad he didn't want to make ford feel isolated. and the grub was actually making his open head wound feel better or maybe he was just getting numb to the pain from blood loss. "well okay 🙂" said fiddleford and then they raised shifty as their child and lived happily ever after. the end. end transcript.

Hello!
We’re Kankoshi-San, a mixed origin system of unknown count.
We are exclusively pro-endo, pro-willo, and pro-self diagnosis. Everything else we’re neutral on, so please don’t drag us into it. Also, please don’t bring us into syscourse unless we want to. It stresses us out. All attempts at harassment will be deleted.
We are two systems in one body, our second one being the @starsighted-col . We have little crossover, so please treat us separately aside from the few who are part of both.
Our current hosts are Luna and Folly, with honorary mention to DrRETRO and Mach as backup. Hosts may change in the future. (The four are currently a polycule)
We mostly post system origins of the day, and we’ll be going through all of pluralpedia for it.
If your term is posted and you would like it removed, contact us! Alternatively, if you want your term posted, we can do that too.
Anyway, thanks for reading!

Do you happen to have any resources regarding accessibility in ttrpg design? About design, colours, phrasing of text or anything else that could be helpful!
I spent wayyyyy too long compiling all this - but it's important, and I appreciate you asking!!
Accessibility is a subject near and dear to my heart, and I will say up front that I'm not sure universal (aka accessible to everyone) design is possible, because people's needs can vary even within the same subset of similar disabilities (such as limited vision or blindness). BUT that doesn't mean we don't try to design for and make our games available to as many people as possible. Mismatch by Kat Holmes is a great read on design for accessibility in general, as is Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez. You might also check out literally anything Alice Wong has ever done.
To start, I recommend this article on the Lenses of Accessibility.
(for reference, this article is about web/graphic design, so I'm going to try and distill the most salient points for game design)
We are going to primarily focus on a few of these lenses:
Color
Font
Images & Icons
Layout
Readability
Structure
Keyboard
More details under the cut.
Color
Why does color matter? Well, for starters, there's a lot of colorblind people out there. Contrast affects readability. Autistic people and people who suffer from occular migraines might be affected by particular vivid colors. There's lots of reasons to consider color and the work it is doing in your piece, but in general you can provide a black and white, high contrast version of your game to help users.
There are tools out there to figure out if your contrast meets certain readability standards, such as this one.
Font
Dyslexia and other visual processing issues can make font choice really important. Plus, some fonts really affect readability. Additionally, line height, justification, and size of text can affect readability.
Best practice would be to provide a plain-text version of your game (and beware of "dyslexia-friendly" fonts which may or may not actually help - sticking to a basic readability font like Arial, Tahoma, or Verdana, is safest). I like this style guide for reference.
Images & Icons
For visually-impaired people, it's important to use alt-text, descriptions, and/or captions to help screenreaders properly translate images. Tons and tons of details that could go into this, but there are better people than me to describe it.
Layout
We've talked about this a bit, but there's tons of resources for this. There was recently a great writeup about Yazeba's Bed and Breakfast in terms of layout that I highly recommend.
Readability
More of the thing we've already talked about - it really is a combination of all the other lenses that comes down to readability. Audio versions of your game are always a good way to avoid the restrictions of screen readers, but can be expensive to produce.
Structure
This is tables. Tables are a nightmare for screenreaders, but including them as images can also be a problem. The short solution is "don't use tables" but that's not necessarily great for seeing people. The section in this blog is really great when talking about options for structure.
Keyboard
Debated on whether to include this, but given how many games are being read as purely digital files, I think it's important to have workable interactive elements that can be navigated through without a mouse. Some of that is going to come down to the programs being used to open your files. But if there are things you can do on your end (such as labeling form fillable fields on an interactive character sheet), they're worth doing!
Please understand that this isn't an exhaustive list. There's tons of resources out there and technology and standards are constantly changing.
It's also is important to note that even doing one of these things is helpful. You might look at this list and go "wow that's too hard" but I promise you, it's worth it. My games do not all have accessible versions! That's something I'm trying to rectify. The biggest part of that for me is thinking about accessibility from the start instead of at the end! But we can start today, and that's better than not starting.
The most important thing to remember are that disabled people are NOT a monolith - needs will differ from person to person. Accessible design makes gaming better for everyone!
Final Resources:

Hello! We’re the Starsighted Collective!
We’re a mixed origin system of 200+, with members of nearly all origins! We have no tolerance for hate but we don’t mind anti-endos interacting as long as they’re respectful. We respect your opinions, you respect ours.
There’s no point in fighting.
This system is a split off from our main system, due to some problems with memories. We’re mentally stuck in 2020-2023, and may act a little strange or cringe.” We do have alters from our main system for help, but this account is for us specifically! We won’t talk about the rest of the system much beyond their appearance.
Our main sources are :
DSMP
Hermitcraft
Murder drones
My Little Pony
Regretevator
Portal
Rimworld
Misc games
Brainmade
Not all of us are part of the Starsighted Collective, but we’ll try to focus on those of us who are.
Many of us are former system members who either just came out of dormancy, didn’t front often, or were fragments, so we’re not all up-to-date. However, due to some recent events, many of us have been forced to return. Many of us wanted to have an account to relive our memories, so this is the account for that!
Tags we use:
#Alter intro - Intros to us, as there’s a lot of us
#Tonetag - Tonetag descriptions which we may post occasionally
#Quote - Quotes we hear either in or out of system
#Pronoun ideas - We may post pronoun ideas, either requests or information
#Plural positivity - Positivity about plurality
#Venting - Venting about who knows what, feel free to block it
#Silliness - Just random posts or silliness
If you’d like to know even more about us, check out our carrd! It also includes our disorders, DNI, and frequent fronters. (—Carrd is currently a WIP)

I'm almost done!
There will be two versions of this zine to make it as accessible as possible. Please do not hesitate to message me if you have thoughts on how to make this zine even more accessible. I deeply care about that, but I have very little experience and limited knowledge that I'm always ready to expand on.
The purple version is written in the dyslexia-friendly font "OpenDyslexic". The text is black on a pale purple background. It has short image descriptions.
The white version is meant to be screenreader-friendly and high contrast. It is written in the font "Verdana". The text is black on a white background. It has more detailed image descriptions and is arranged in a way that is easy to understand using a screen reader.

hi hello! little bit of an abnormal req, but could we possibly get an alter intro template themes around music / stars? make it as detailed or vague as you want, we don't mind either way :D
- [🪐⚙]
Never did this before but hopefully these are okay!! Included both symbol + emoji versions, since symbols tend to not be screenreader friendly and I wanted to give you the option ^^
(Also, I assumed this was for PK / Tupper / discord, and if not, it should work wherever markdown is available)

Simple Accessibility Tips - Summarized
[Plain Text: Simple Accessibility Tips - Summarized. End PT]
Here is the short version of my accessibility tips post! This disability pride month, take the time to make your blog more accessible!
1. Colors
[PT: Colors. End PT]
Make sure your blog colors have enough contrast to be readable and aren't bright enough to cause eye strain.
2. Tagging
[PT: Tagging. End PT]
Tag inaccessible content so it can be avoided.
Some of these are: #eye strain, #flashing, #undescribed/#no id, #caps, #color(ed) text, and #not screenreader friendly.
3. Plain Text
[PT: Plain Text. End PT]
Please provide a plain text alternative for any formatted text. Some of this formatting includes: colored text, italics, bold, underlined text, stricken text, 𝐨𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐬, other font sizes, and ALL CAPS. Here is an example:
[Plain Text: colored text, italics, bold, underlined text, stricken text, other fonts, other font sizes, and all caps. End PT]
4. Descriptions
Provide image descriptions when possible and look for them in the notes when you can by sorting by "comment only"!
When possible, provide both a short description in the alt text and a longer, more comprehensive ID in the body of the post.
You can find more about image descriptions in my post here: [link]
If you want more information and resources for any of these, you can find the longer version of this post here: [link]

Hi! So it says in your bio that you're both a filmmaker and novelist, so I'd like to ask you something. First, are you involved with the script part of filmmaking specifically, or fo you work mostly with other elements of filmmaking? Second, if you are, what are the major differences you've noticed between script writing and prose writing?
For context, I want to make comics, and I'd like to have a script to work from, but I've only occasionally dabbled in script writing. I know I could just use thumbnails and that's definitely something I want to be part of the process, but one of the reasons I want a script is so that I can have something to hopefully make my comic accessible to blind readers. I don't have the money to pay for an audiobook version to be made, so my thought process was if I make a text version of the comic, like a script, I can then make sure that at least a version of that copy is screenreader friendly.
So, do you have any advice for me?

I'm a film editor, or was, which definitely involves a lot of understanding of narrative, but that's different from being a screenwriter, and being a screenwriter and/or novelist is different again from writing scripts for comics.
That said, I have written scripts. The biggest difference is that if your script is intended for someone else to direct, you are asked to leave out a lot of commentary and stage direction that director-written scripts tend to have and that novels would have.

Dialogue is a fairly minor aspect of both novels and films—at least most good ones.
In a novel, much of the actual characterization is done in the actions characters take or in the way things are described in the narration.
In a director-written script, the writer will often include a lot of stuff that isn't put into actors' mouths to remind themselves of what the point of a given scene is. What would be narration in a novel becomes cinematography and editing choices.
As a rando writing scripts, you're not supposed to shove in that stuff because you're telling the director and other creatives how to do their job. You're just the writer: you don't get to decide those things. The script is less a finished blueprint and more a main melody line that someone else will improvise on top of.
Unfortunately, most of the ~great scripts~ people are told to look at for inspiration are by someone with more creative control (director, showrunner, creative producer) and do have a lot of interpretation already baked in. That makes them more fun for a layperson to read, but it doesn't always make them great examples of how to write commercially.

My impression is that a comics script is a specific thing in the pro industry, and it's not a thing that would necessarily be ready for blind readers. If you want to make an accessibility aid, I think you're looking at descriptive commentary along with any dialogue. Depending on the nature of the comic, it might be useful, or it might be pointless.
I would indeed storyboard your comic, not for future readers but to help you plan layout. The visual storytelling is a key part of any visual medium, and a good comic does more than just put the key actions on page. Where are people standing relative to each other and relative to the edge of the frame and how does this create a balanced composition or an awkward tension? Do you need the equivalent of a film insert shot and why? How is the eye being directed around the page, and does this make it easy to follow or chaotic?
What kind of comics format you're doing will matter a lot, obviously, but even in a basic 3-panel webcomic, you can control things like how close to the edge of the frame characters stand.
If you want some 101 on visual storytelling from a film perspective, one of the best regarded books is The Visual Story by Bruce Block. I personally also greatly enjoyed The Eye Is Quicker by Richard D. Pepperman. I remember the latter having more on film editing but nice storyboards and the former having a lot more visual arts-adjacent commentary on cinematography: line, color theory, negative space, etc.

People focus way too much on words as a crutch because they don't understand the far more important grammar of visual storytelling.
If your visual story—comic, film—cannot do 90% of its work without the words, it probably sucks.
That's my biggest piece of advice.

Hi, we're Plotbunny Games, a TTRPG publisher from Berlin, Germany, run by @this-curiouscat and founded almost a year ago.
We publish both original games (most of them in both English and German) and translations (we've already announced that we'll be translating Dream Askew/Dream Apart into German and have more translations in the works that are still secret).
Great games by marginalized creators are especially dear to our heart, as are well-explained, newbie-friendly games with interesting topics and mechanics in general.
We've run two successful crowdfunding campaigns already (for Viva la QueerBar and Fräulein Bernburgs Pensionat für junge Damen), and you can buy all the games shown in this post through our website. Digital versions (all screenreader-ready with image descriptions, PDF tags, etc.) are also available on Itch.io.
