I had a job interview today for a bartending position. think it went well. i really need some extra cash but I'm also very excited to get behind the bar again. as a mostly introverted person I really like bartending, which is strange, maybe.

Transparency International has called for stricter controls on EU lawmakers, as a report shows many hold lucrative positions with firms that also lobby Brussels. MEPs collectively earn more than €8.6 million a year from outside jobs – including from private companies that also actively lobby on EU policy, according to a report published by Transparency International EU today (6 May). The group has called for EU lawmakers to be banned from moonlighting, as figures show over two thirds of the 705 deputies disclose activities in addition to their core role. In some cases, they earn more from outside activities than they do from their MEP salary of €10,000 a month, and sit on boards of corporations intimately connected with their day jobs, the study found. The EU last year tightened its rules in the wake of Qatargate, a scandal over alleged foreign influence on the legislative process – and the reform means lawmakers now publish more fine-grained details of outside earnings. But for Transparency International EU, the new rules still don’t go far enough to avoid conflicts of interest.

The instant exhaustion and regert I have about getting a second job even though it pays well and I'm excited for it is insane. Like on one hand the ability to save money, the job is fun, the boss seems great. On the other my depression. My 16 hours of reading and not talking to people when I'm not Backpacking

Why writing books is a career like no other, and 9 takeaways for doing it
I’ve had an email from a high school student who’s writing an English assignment on careers he would like to follow. He said: Would you answer a few questions about your job journey? I’m very interested in what you do. His questions were fairly standard, and they made me realise how most creative careers are anything but. They’re unpredictable and weird. Here are my answers, and I’m really…

inspired by a conversation i walked past during my commute this morning
Eddie is outside when Steve arrives home from work, sitting on the front porch and waiting for their daughters’ bus to drop them off from school.
“Hey!” Eddie grins as Steve makes his way up the steps, “You’re home early.”
“Last client of the day canceled,” he replies, and he grabs Eddie’s hands to pull him to his feet and into a long kiss.
“I love you,” Steve said when he pulled away, snaking his arms around Eddie’s waist to hold him close, “So much.”
“I love you too, Stevie,” Eddie laughed, “Something happen today?”
“Not really. There’s just this guy – the guy who started at my practice last month.”
“The one you don’t like?” Eddie clarifies.
“Ed – I hate him. He came in all smug and smiling today and looked so thrilled to be there, and someone was like dude, what’s your deal? And he had the audacity to say, my wife is home with two sick kids, so…”
Eddie made a face.
“Like, don’t sound so fuckin’ proud of yourself, man,” Steve continued, shaking his head, “Whatever. Anyways, I looked at his schedule and – get this – he had one client today. At three in the afternoon. So he spent the entire day lounging around the office doing jack shit while his wife was home with a sick baby and toddler.”
“What a prick.”
“Right? Anyways, I just want to make sure you know how much I appreciate you and how you stay home with our ridiculous children while I go to work, and that I’m thinking about you guys all day, and all I ever really want is to be home with you.”
“I know you do,” Eddie tells him, because he totally does. He knows it in the way Steve’s week is about as short as it’s allowed to be, and in the way he always checks in on Eddie when he gets home to feel out the day he’d had and to give him a “night off” if he needs one.
Steve nods, and then he adds, “When I was leaving I made a whole point of saying, like, headed home to spend time with my husband and children who I adore more than anything.”
“Of course you did.”
“Kind of forgot he’s also a licensed and practicing therapist so he totally knew I was being passive aggressive.”

Danny had been around Gotham for a while.
The crime was never ending, but since Batman's arrival, it had gotten better.
The unmistakably CLANK! From around the corner had him jump, wary now. The man walks around the wall, eyes on the black car with— with Batman's symbol at the front.
A child sitting on the ground with a car tire next to him, the Bat Symbol a stark contrast to the shadows.
"Shit, kid. You're bold to rob Batman." Danny didn't really realise he was speaking until the kid looks up, spooked.
"What the fuck?" The kid was clearly of Gotham breed, yelps with a glare.
"I'm impressed," Danny doesn't give the kid the chance to talk, not with the way the tiny terror seems to be glaring and holding his wrench.
"You're quick, got eyes for details and know how to work around cars."
The suspicion in the kids eyes didn't lessen, having gotten up to press himself against the wall, eyes never leaving Danny.
"Here," Our local spook threw a card on the hood of the car. It was his business card.
"If you need income with far fewer risks than stealing from Batman, call me."
He didn't really wait to see the kids reaction, just leaving, bot before shooting a look into the sky the kid clearly caught.
As danny left, the kid looked at the entrance of the alleyway, back to the car, and then to the card.
They had talked for too long. Jason had to leave now, lest Batman actually caught him.
With one last look to the tires and the car, he leaves eith a scowl.
Just barely missing the man with the cape.

It's Time To Think About The Viability Of Your Business
It’s Time To Think About The Viability Of Your Business
Running a business that doesn’t pay its way probably feels more like a reality these days rather than the nightmare it was a few years ago. For those of us that survived 2020 and coasted through 2021, 2022 probably feels like a horrible icing on the cake and 2023 promises even less. When is it ever going to end? A year that should have been about getting back on our feet, feels like someone…
