Fun Fact
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications and Informatics has blocked the Tumblr site because it contained 60 sites of terrorism, extremism, and pornography in 2015.
reverse unpopular opinion for....aw heck, go ahead with Rhea for this one as well
This might as well be a part 2 to the previous Rhea ask so :D
I find Rhea to be so compelling for several reasons, one of the biggest being the inherent contradiction that she is very much capable of caring, loving and trusting others, sometimes with some insane gestures when you realize their meaning behind them (ie. Saving Jeralt's life by giving him her blood thus risking outing herself because of it, letting Catherine keep Thunderbrand despite the fact it's the one Relic she could safely recover- implicitly trusting her with one of her family's remains without any obligation to do so, risk angering a noble house to give Cyril a better life and treating him like her son in all but name)... And yet she cannot, for the life of her, bring herself to be honest with them.
Something fascinating I noticed about Rhea is that she ironically seems to prefer people who are blunt with her, because look at the people she's closest to - Seteth spends all of Part 1 openly questioning her, Flayn is constantly on the verge of accidentally outing herself, Cyril is so direct and honest he sometimes accidentally comes off as rude (Shamir too even if she's not as close to Rhea) and Catherine wears her heart on her sleeve.
Heck, all of them are either not that religious or outright non-believers, which ironically I believe helps reassure Rhea they love her because of who she is as a person and not because she's the archbishop, especially given how much she implies to find the position incredibly alienating.
And isn't that just so fascinating? That she is more than capable than loving others and caring for them risking her own personal safety, she appreciates people being honest with her.... But cannot, will not be entirely honest with them in turn.
Because make no mistake, that right there is Rhea's true fatal flaw: her compulsive need to keep everything a secret.
From the big but understandable stuff that would get her and her family scrapped for parts if it became public to downright pointless shit to hide like not liking hot drinks, and it's the one trait that screws her over the most, between being the reason Jeralt left (since she didn't tell him ANYTHING about what happened with Byleth so he assumed the worst and fled) and the thing preventing her from making connections as deep as she actually wants (like even just telling her loved ones how much they mean to her), as well as getting the support she actually needs. And because she feels she has to bear everything on her shoulders, she crumbles under the weight because no matter how hard she tries, she will never be good enough.
In that sense the role of archbishop is a sort of mask to her. It's definitely a part of her, but also something she has sort of burrowed into like a safety net preventing her from being true to herself. Because that'd mean making herself vulnerable, in more ways than one. To say nothing about putting her surviving family and remnants of her dead kin to jeopardy.
If she were to open up she'd be... More lively, I think. Definitely sillier if Heroes is any indication, and arguably more willing to take a direct approach in helping people. And definitely more loved and happier.
And perhaps, one day she'd realize she doesn't need to bring her mom back to fix Fódlan. She's not doing it alone anymore, after all.
Tbh I actually don't know of this spells the confirmation of Izu Ocha or not.
Bc does it really have any place in the current narrative? When Izuku is messed up about what happened with Shigaraki...Ochako is messed up about what happened to Toga...
Like is this going to amount to a romantic moment, and/or a desperate, emotional kiss?? Or just a comforting moment between friends??
Because I mean, a kiss or solidifying a romance between them at this moment, in this context, when they both have so much baggage they are MORE CONCERNED ABOUT, seems more than a little off to me.
On the other hand...it IS a shonen manga.
I'm really hoping they just have a discussion and find comfort in their similar traumas. If that were to develop down the road for them, sure, that makes sense, but
I don't think romance is how these two characters COPE with their stressful situations. I do not think that will help them GRIEVE what they just lost.
In short, I guess, it really doesn't make sense to me foe there to be a big Izu Ocha romantic finale in the next chapter. A talk, yes. A climax to their relationship, even, yes.
“Matsuura-san’s parent died… Hikaru’s parent also died… having your parent die… is bad.”
Thank god we’ve got Yoshiki here, modern philosopher of our time, to drop this wisdom upon us. Surely this grand conclusion, which required a whole flashback to come to, will have an impact on how Yoshiki views death going forward- oh wait, lol what am I saying? Of course it’s not!
Totally forgot to post this lol. It started off as a nearly forgotten sketch in my high school notebook a couple years ago. Had no idea it would make a come back (and in such a similar pose to a cannon scene!)
I love these two so much. They actually LIKE and support each other, which is rare to see on screen fr. I find them so refreshing💖💖💖
They may call it a Summer palace, but it’s actually three different structures joined together. The cathedral is at the top. No way in there except from the palace itself. Below that, the whole place is a maze of secret passages, easy to get lost in. And it’s all built atop a sealed temple to the Old Gods.
YOU'RE RIGHT WHAT IF THIS IS A TWISTED IRONY OF GETTING WHAT YOU WANT. MACAQUE HAS THE POWER TO KILL WUKONG OR MK FOR REAL THIS TIME??? but he doesn't want to. what if he's forced again. what if this power has the potential to destroy him to be removed/stopped from affecting others?
I know multiple of these are likely important to people, but I'm asking in terms of like - which of these do you tend to focus on the MOST, enjoy the most, that is most essential for you to actually care about the media, etc.?
(For example: someone finding "Relatability" most important would likely not enjoy a show much if they have trouble empathizing with the characters/relating to it, even if it were good otherwise. Or, someone might be able to overlook bad acting and ugly costumes, as long as the Character Dynamics are fun to them, because they value that more than Aesthetics- while for others, bad costumes would be a dealbreaker.)
Also feel free to reblog and explain your answer or more information in the tags- I've always been curious about people's relationships to media, how they conceptualize it/what they get out of it, how some people value some parts more than others, how that informs their overall taste and genres they may be more inclined towards, etc. :0c
the thing about the kim-as-shannon scene is that if it had been a dream, there would've been something very quietly devastating about eddie waking up and, at first, maybe feeling content with finally getting everything off his chest only to realise it was a dream and that it still isn't enough because he can't actually say any of these things to shannon and she can't answer back the way he needs her to. and to then see that struggle with him trying to get closure because she's Never gonna be there to answer him back so what does he do??? how does he make it stop???? because he wants to get better and he wants to move on but he doesn't know how to, y'know??
I have no idea if this is true or not but I saw someone say Echo was in the episode trailer for this Wednesday so he's coming back! He's here he's really here he's going to be in the episode this week?!?! I would've asked to see the episode trailer but my browser refreshed and I lost the post before I could someone please. please. Don't play with my feelings right now I'll cry so hard is he really in the preview trailer for the episode this week?!?
oh my god romantic shipping in media is not all that matters. i’m literally begging you people to open your ears and listen to “we can do more than save ourselves” and “though we are not bound by blood, we are family” and “all of our lives becoming one life […] one unstoppable life” and realize that we are nothing without love in every single form and that’s what the finale is telling us. we need love. we need care and compassion and selflessness. we need to help people who are hurting, we need to take care of each other. we exist to make people laugh and hold them when they cry. we exist to love! there is no point without love! you don’t need to be hung up on what kind of love these two characters have because they love each other regardless. romance is not the only form of love! get a grip! stop dismissing the importance of platonic and familial love in the finale!
