I know the fandom tends to see Five Pebbles as a sad, self-hating, angsty bug boy but, I struggle to agree with the fandom depiction.
I think a lot of characters in Rain World care a lot about each other, I think they care too much. That's why it's such a tragedy.
Pebbles falls to that too. I think he cares, a lot, it's tough to see but it's there.
Take a look at the bug maze convo - "FP: So why do we continue? We assemble work groups, we ponder, we iterate and try. Some of us die. It's not fair." He clearly realises that there's problems, he realises they're working on something that ultimately does not matter, and they're all stuck doing that. "It's not fair" Its not and he wants to do something about it, he ain't just gonna stand around and keep working on this pointless problem. They don't deserve to be stuck working like this forever.
Problem is, just like Suns, everyone is still working on the problem, and for what purpose? Look at Sky Islands pearl 3 read by Pebbles - "Should we reject a way out of this maze, on the mere principle that escape itself is forbidden?" They are all stuck and no one is doing anything. Gold pearl read by Pebbles - "I need to fix this, and try again. If I can just reproduce Sliver of Straw's results, they will understand." And that's why he's so adamant on solving the problem, if they can all understand that "hey the solution is right here, we can stop now, we can do whatever we want" then they'd all be free. I think he sees how unfair all this is, and how everyone has given up to simply just working on the problem because what else are they supposed to do. He sees all that and wants to help, if he can find the solution then he'd help everyone, and he does these dumb risky things because if he succeeds then it'll all be worth it.
He loves his sister and he loves his friends, and he cares about all the other iterators and even the scugs that pass through. And its all such a tragedy because despite all this love and care we still watch everything fall apart and crumble. It was never fair for any of them.

"Do you miss it? The Order?" "I miss... the idea of it. But not the truth, the weakness. There was no future there." OKAY, THIS MAN MISSES THE ORDER SOOOOOOOOOOO BAD IT MAKES HIM LOOK STUPID
I'm serious. He's carrying the husk of his long-ossified grief so obviously. It is evident in everything he does and says that he was a young knight absolutely ripped to shreds by Order 66 and its lonely, dark aftermath. He allowed despair to be his comfort, convincing himself there's nothing to mourn because it's easier than dealing with the loss.

The Black Seminoles: History of a Freedom-Seeking People
The Black Seminoles: History of a Freedom-Seeking People
“A powerful and stirring story.”—San Antonio Express-News “An epic tale of desperate, unwitting fugitives who would—without exaggeration—defeat armed forces both white and Indian, make possible settlement of the West, earn the country's highest military honors, and have nothing to show for it.”—Miami Herald
“This fascinating story chronicles the lives of fugitive slaves who aligned themselves with Seminole Indians in Florida beginning in the early 1800s, fought with them in the Second Seminole War, and were removed, along with them to Indian Territory, where they struggled to remain free. To prevent reenslavement, their remarkable leader, John Horse, led much of the group to Mexico. . . . Recommended.”—
Library Journal “Porter spoke directly with Chief Horse's descendants and with older black Seminoles who either knew him or had heard first-hand stories about him. . . .
A gripping account of a people's struggle both for identity and freedom.”—Naples Daily News “This book's sweep is broad, its story is provocative, and the human saga it evokes is compelling.
No exercise in political correctness, this is a detailed, factual account of a remarkable people's struggle for survival over multiple generations and in the face of calamitous challenges. This history will surprise, while it intrigues. Kenneth Porter has made an enduring contribution, for which we are indebted to him.”—Tampa Tribune

do yall ever think about the fact that by not being an “official” part of any clan–he was not a jiang or a lan or a nie or a wen–wei wuxian was able to perceive people by their character first and foremost and not by their familial lineage and so he never struggled with hateful prejudice against the wen remnants?? that his outlook was self-developed in a way that put personal loyalty over clan-bound loyalty and learned to take each person on a case-by-case basis when it came to his opinions on them??
also do yall think about how the other outsider and shunned parallel of wwx is meng yao and how he does infact become a ‘jin’ and it’s almost like that clan-climbing mindset is exactly what brings about his rise and then his downfall in the cultivation world.

i understand a lot of folks see izutsumi as aroace and thats legit but personally (and i know this is equally me projecting aspects of my own teen self) i sorta interpret her more as struggling w relationships (any kind!) because of her complicated relationship to her own personhood and how it sorta stunts her social development.
considering her backstory + how many characters have an autistic vibe its easy for me to see this as like. person who was brought up in a controlling environment and treated as a lesser human who cant be trusted with her own autonomy never rly expected equal partnership to be an option for her even after getting free. but theres also def a trans reading where desire is like not even a viable consideration because her relationship to her own body is so dysphoric and because she believes so thoroughly that she is inherently undesirable.
and neither of these interpretations are necessarily exclusive to the aroace headcanon but i also dont think its off base to speculate on a future where learning to accept herself and other people into her life more changes her outlook.

Propaganda is one of the most powerful weapons countries have today and in this age of media illiteracy they are using it more then ever.
Do not let yourself side with the opressor, they do not see the people they're oppressing as human and will use anything and say anything against them.
Do not give them power because you are too lazy to look at what you're reading and check how correct it is.
