It's been incredibly difficult to hear from Palestinians in Gaza, not to mention center their experiences and platform their voices. Because ever since Hamas violently kicked the Palestinian government out of Gaza in 2007, it's denied Palestinians the right to free speech.
(Here's Palestinian human rights activist Hamza Howidy sarcastically wondering why Hamas isn't stopping the theft of humanitarian aid when it had the power to arrest him for a social media post within 4 hours.)
I'm working on a series of posts of Palestinians to platform. I came across this thread from someone who used Snapchat to talk to people in Gaza, so I thought I'd post it here in the meantime.
I've seen videos of Palestinians talking about not being able to evacuate because "Hamas has closed all the roads," a video of a Palestinian telling the IDF that Hamas has a car blocking the Salah-al-Din road (the evacuation route) and is pointing guns at people and telling them to turn around. But even as someone searching for Palestinian voices and looking for information about this, I hadn't heard that Hamas had been killing civilians trying to evacuate. (And probably reporting their deaths as part of the daily total.)
I mean, just the fact that the Gaza Strip is run as a separate country from the rest of Palestine is a huge barrier for Palestinians. It's hard to be accepted as a full member of the UN when your country functionally has two or three different governments.
(Confusingly, the PLO is considered the government of Palestine internationally. Abbas is the president of both PLO and the Palestinian Authority, so it sort of works as long as nobody has an election. But the fact that Palestinians have been denied an election for 18+ years, because Abbas keeps cancelling elections and Hamas is Hamas, is also a pretty big fucking problem.)
But it's also true that a huge number of the people in the Gaza Strip, while obviously having a big problem with the Israeli government, have at least as big of a problem with Hamas.
And for all of our decades of talk about Free Palestine, in the progressive movement, we pay shockingly little attention to that.

Hi friends! Once again here using my Tumblr like a traditional blog where u share thoughts and updates and stuff haha.
Sorry for being gone for a bit, life was BUSY with plans and now I’m finally back home from a little trip visiting a lovely friend of mine (photos for visual-aid of said trip 😉😇). God I love summer and sunshine!! ☀️☺️🌊🚤🍉
So due to being less active, I did build up quite a bit of notification and message debt. Wanted to take a quick moment and say that unfortunately there is no shot I’ll be able to catch up on all of it in terms of responding to everything, even though I usually really like to stay on top of that; especially with tags and reblogs and comments on my posts! However, I did read and see everything that I’ve missed.
So to all of u that interacted while I was gone: the satisfaction from flustering some of you was absolutely enjoyed 😉~ and on the flip side the backfire from your teasy comments has also been suffered hahaha 🙈. Either way you already know I love seeing interactions from you guys and I’m just so THANKFUL TO HAVE HAD SO MANY TO CATCH UP ON 🥰 sorry again I can’t always be reciprocal, but please know that I adore all of you and am enjoying the heck out of being in your presences with or without direct line of conversation!
Anyway, if it wasn’t clear enough by now, I think the world of u community pals and I hope you all have a day as lovely and awesome as you! (Very lovely and awesome, to clarify haha)
Stay precious 😘💕

You can make this squat bird.
Probably, anyway.
A bird and pattern I made for my RBB fic collab with @halfeatenmoon, Stede's Robust Eggplants.
I have never written a pattern before, but hopefully this makes sense to anyone who's vaguely done crochet. Bird is about 2.5in/6.5cm-ish tall depending on how you squish her.
Materials:
Worsted weight yarn, two colors, one for body and wings, one for beak
2 buttons for eyes
Thread for sewing buttons on
Stuffing material (scrap cloth and yarn work)
Tools:
Size G crochet hook, 4.25mm
Scissors
Yarn needle
Sewing needle
Terminology:
MC- Magic Circle, a starting loop
SC- Single Crochet in next stitch
INC- 2 SC in the next stitch
DEC- SC 2 stitches together
(2x) Wings, worked in rows:
R 1. SC 2 in MC, tighten
R 2. INC, SC
R 3. SC, INC, SC
R 4. SC, INC, SC, SC
Leave enough tail for sewing wing to body.
Beak, worked in the round:
R 1. SC 6 in MC, tighten
R 2-3. SC, 6x
Leave enough tail for sewing beak to body.
Body, worked in the round:
R 1. SC 6 in MC, tighten
R 2. INC 6x
R 3. [INC, SC] 6x
R 4. [INC, SC, SC] 6x
R 5-7. SC, 24x
R 8. [INC, SC, SC, SC] 6x
R 9-12. SC, 30x
R 13. [DEC, SC, SC, SC] 6x
Attach beak and wings with yarn needle. Placement up to you for different effects. See above for what I did.
Attach button eyes with sewing thread. Placement up to you for different effects. See above for what I did.
Stuff the body with scraps or fiber. I used scrap yarn mainly.
R 14. [DEC, SC, SC] 6x
R 15. [DEC, SC] 6x
R 16. DEC, 6x
Close the body by whip stitching around the remaining hole and pulling tight. Fasten off.
You have a Squat Bird.

I guess pinned messages are a thing?
So here we go! Cool stuff I'm involved in!
First off- Yeldplay!
Yeldplay is an Actual Play Podcast where we play The Magical Land of Yeld, a game about getting trapped in a magical land, fighting monsters, defying the Evil Vampire Prince, and becoming heroes! Find it wherever you usually find podcasts, or specifically at Acast!
I also do let's play videos and livestreams! You can find those at youtube and at twitch, respectively!
And beyond those, I'm a voice actress! If you're interested in talking to me about a project that could use a voice, feel free to message me!
Finally, if you just wanna support me financially so i can keep doing the cool free stuff i do, feel free to throw some money my way! I've got a paypal, or you can pledge to my comradery or patreon! (comradery is way cooler though, and i'd love to be able to stop using patreon someday, so... yeah!)
Alright, that's all i've got to say for now- but I'll be sure to update this when i've got more projects to share~!
