Yes, love to! Although on chaptered works I have a rule for myself- gotta get an update posted before I can respond to previous chapter's comments. It's an attempt at an incentive.

Do you write crossovers?

One of my oldest fics was taking FF7 characters and moving them into a hard sci-fi setting (like, space exploration/alien planets). I still enjoy the mental puzzle of fitting together disparate elements, but am more likely to AU these days. Here's an ultra short Dragon Age/FE14 crossover ficlet.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yep, honestly PWP can be good writer's -block breakers for me. But fully admit, the plotty smut is more fun. It's usually about exploring a particular ship's chemistry.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't know. Maybe? I remember years before AI was a thing, I'd get contacted about turning a fic into OW...but by these shady vanity presses? Was weird considering the particular fic was extremely unfinished and 2 chapters long.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not that I'm aware of.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Totally, I think my first ever was over email with my Jr High bff for Escaflowne (our shared fandom). For posted, the generous @mrmissmrsrandom has been collaborating with me through RPs, and it's been a lot of fun. Building the Dancing verse, I think is the most steady cowriting I've done.

What's your all time favorite ship?

My OTP tag, and I once sailed the (Marx)Xander/Hinoka ship as the sole fandom captain in the early FE14 fanfic days.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but probably never will?

My FE14 longfic Into A Walled Garden. But I fully confess, since I formed my characterization/opinions based on a fanfic translation of Fire Emblem If's Japanese script, my stuff must feel OOC if compared to Treehouse's localization-- which killed a lot of fandom motivation for me. (I'm having OW thoughts where I write the OTP under different names)

What are your writing strengths?

Pathos (getting those emotional plot hits in), dialogue (especially between two charas), descriptive language (been called poetic, for prose), cultural exchange/clash (esp. within romance), and worldbuilding (its just fascinating).

What are your writing weaknesses?

Being too wordy, purple prose... and sometimes when I hit writer's block, I just- can't get over it. I admit, I should probably do more hard outlining, but my motivation can get very negatively effected by IRL stresses (and then, I just don't carve out time).

A different weakness is, having weirdo ship tastes and focusing on stuff that seems to be FAR from popular? Like, I've accepted it but sometimes I wish I could get behind the big fandom-moving popular ships- but almost always my contrarian tastes plain don't vibe with those (rarepair cake baking for life)

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet, but want to?

Been thinking about 3H's Nabateans.... a Catherine/Rhea post-AM ship fic, or post-VW Seteth surviving Morphis naturalists, or pre-game Flayn having to deal with the cult of the Western Church. Some very different (and two non-shippy) ideas that I like, but haven't found the motivation/time for.

I'd also like to do more non-FE fics, buuuut I guess the ideas tend to grab me less. Got a really good Jinshi/Maomao premise I hope can get postable someday.

What's your favorite fic that you've written?

For a long time Bird's Milk was my fav because I wrote it in one afternoon with little problem, and I adore the spinoff @flutterbatwrites wrote for the AU verse. But, my new fav is probably Shelter From the Storm because the premise for that fic lived so dang long inside my head, so was great to get it written out and see other FE10 fans emerge from the woodwork for it. ...for a fic AFTER 2020 (the year that lives in infamy) I'd say take a gander at Daemoni, cause it's a monster-bender premise I've had a lot of fun with.

I haven't really the past few years because I feel guilty, I don't know why. I feel like I especially owed people who commented more or better quality fic than whatever I provided and I feel guilty for not having replied to the people I didn't get to. I tell myself that when I feel better I'll go back and reply to everyone but then I wonder if people want a reply from an author five years late and I just /:

6) what's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

The Horror of Honor . Which is mostly just a poem, but is also Rodrigue going through his late son, Glenn's things.

7) what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Two come to mind: Trust Or Something Like It is an FE3H Syldue fic which could have been 16 chapters long but I crammed the story into a thousand words so it's only 1 chapter and most of it is smut where the relationship is secure and the future is bright. Similarly, Expanded Epilogue is an FE3H Claude x My Unit OC 6 chapter fic with Some tension that ends in a wedding. Trust Or Something Like It's tension builds in a way that I feel the happy ending isn't guaranteed, whereas I feel Expanded Epilogue's ending can be seen from miles away but there's something about each of them that feel more cemented than happy-and-hopeful-but-uncertain endings that accompany a lot of my fics.

8) do you get hate on fics?

I've deleted three stupid comments that I can think of.

9) do you write smut?

I write smut. I haven't posted smut since 2022. I know this needs to be rectified.

10) do you write crossovers?

Not really. I can enjoy crossovers, and I like thinking of my oc's / blorbos interacting. The closest I might get soonish would be stealing some Fire Emblem characters to be Faedolyn's friends in the Love and Deepspace universe (Dedue, (Dedue's sister oc) Luzia, Linhardt, Caspar, Lysithea, Seteth, Flayn and Basilio are on my short list).

11) have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of.

12) have you ever had a fic translated?

I haven't, no.

13) have you ever cowritten a fic before?

I've collaborated with oc owners while writing fic, and I've written gift fic and zine fic where I received guidance / support; but not really.

14) what's your all time favourite ship?

I guess Vegebul? In terms of longevity.

15) what's the wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Don't put this curse on me.

16) what are your writing strengths?

I pray it's dialogue and characterization.

17) what are your writing weaknesses?

I think they are keeping tension and atmospheric descriptions of like the setting / objects in the setting.

18) thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

It's fun as a narrative device, like if the pov character reflects on what was being said or the character speaking in another language translates themself at another point in the story as a fun twist or inside joke, but otherwise that it makes more sense to keep the fic in a singular language with descriptors for which language the speakers are speaking in and is less enjoyable to only have translations in authors' notes.

Two examples from my own fics:

Nader pointed beyond to a diamond block sitting on its side. “Hadduh?” Claude brought a hand up to the base of his neck and shared a look with Hilda, though whatever had touched him had only confused her. She squinted in response before turning to watch the scene play out. “Hadha, Nader?” Fae corrected, stretching to roll the blocked closer to them with a finger. “This one?”

[Claude] tossed his head back, and exclaimed in Almyran, “Mama?! What the hell is this?” “It’s just your brother,” she said in Fodlani, pouting. “You love your brother.”

It's probably still Sacred Dedication which is a Gen FE3H fic; 2.9k Dedue Molinaro character study.

Ok 1) sorry it took me so long to answer, I have to be in a certain headspace for asks, esp when I know the answer is gonna be long and 2) sorry most of this probably won't make sense to you, personally 😭 this is a really interesting ask so ty for sending it but a lot of it goes into the Deep Lore

Also my feelings on the last thing I wrote are kind of meh so I'm gonna talk about a lot of some other recent things I've written instead

This headcanon was literally the reason I wrote the whole fic. For so long, Ive written both Byleth and Seteth as aspec, but I got to thinking about how fanon's idea of nabatean society is still rather human and modern despite their alien-ness, and wanted to do something Different. Seteth actually being rather allo by nabatean standards and ace by human ones is an idea that I love, and I think fits really well with canon. Like. Why are there not half-nabatean characters?? Surely their society wasn't that insulated. Surely humanity wouldn't have killed half humans off so thoroughly.

Here's some bonus conversational bits between Seteth and his daughter and Byleth and her mom that I'm fond of. For Flayn, it's because I relish any opportunity to write her as the adult that she is. For Byleth, it's because it's a conversation I've had with my own mom many times.

Adducent (fic is nsfw, but snippets aren't)

This one just means a lot to me. It was a really cathartic premise to write and I think the second chapter is pretty good. I wish more people read it because I think it's one of my best.

Smut fic is weird bc sometimes its so intensely personal that I really want people to connect with it. But you can't force people to read sexual content that contains stuff that they aren't into, but it's also not usually about the kink, it's about the emotions and self discovery. So it's this constant war in my mind between "please read this and See Me" and "I have to be rational and understand that you can't force that on anyone."

Anyway. Moving on.

Uncharted Waters

I will die on the hill that Flayn would not be purely excited to see her dad get with her teacher. I think, at best, she would be excited at the idea of it at first, but once she actually witnesses them Together a lot of uncomplicated, unprocessed feelings would surface.

I also feel like people tend to forget that she's like. A real adult. She fought in a war. Just because she hasn't had a lot of the modern life experiences that her peers have, doesn't mean she isn't one.

Camp/drag Ferdinand headcanons hit so much harder when nearly every single person who's played FE16 on Maddening has wished at least once that he had access to the genderlocked Falcon Knight class, due to its synergy with Swift Strikes. I know you don't play Maddening, but I figured you'd appreciate some story and gameplay integration to match your character readings. (Now, they say the same of Sylvain and Seteth too, for the same reasons, but I digress)

I also think one potentially underrated element of FE16 trans headcanons is how name changing is embedded into the culture of Garreg Mach. All the Nabateans at the Monestary use chosen names, as do several Knights of Seiros (Gustave and Cassandra) and Yuri in Abyss. So I could see Seteth giving a Trans Felix, for example, advice on choosing his name and making sure none of the other students deadname him. In addition to my "genderlocked classes as gender affirming care" headcanons.

I knew about the falcon knight thing in Maddening. It might also apply to Dimitri even if he doesn't get Swift Strikes, since male characters don't really have a solid option for a lance-using master class. In 100% that's great knight since it has both Lancefaire and the +3 skill bonus, but it's outclassed by paladin in any scenario where you don't care about grinding up heavy armor.

I'm sure there are Houses fics out there that work with the game's worldbuilding when coming up with trans headcanons. Just looking, there are nearly 600 fics in the trans Felix tag on AO3 alone, so there's lot of room for variation. It's just that it's also a lot of smut...which I don't consider a bad thing, to be clear. Smut is good; I'm currently publishing some myself, in fact. It just depends on what you're looking to get out of fic.

One last comment: I really appreciate you and all of your commentary, both on Tumblr and YouTube. You're really cool and insightful and interesting, and I REALLY hope your YouTube and Patreon really take off. I can only imagine how filled your inbox and comments sections are with negativity and... unsolicited grindr-adjacent messages? But I swear you're reaching way more than just trolls!

Thanks, but the trolls have never bothered me. I learned years ago that if you get even slightly popular anywhere on the internet you're bound to attract people who don't like you. Best to just have a laugh at them where it's warranted, and move on. Houses fandom has been especially vitriolic compared to others I've been in, but after nearly five years even the more toxic elements have lost a lot of steam.
