My rendition of Matthew Fairchild, the saddest man I've read.
How much love people have denied themselves through the ages because they believed they did not deserve it. As if the waste of love is not the greater tragedy.

Hey, y'all!
Here's a portrait of our favorite pretty archer boy I made as a gift for my lovely friend, Lori!
With this piece, I feel like I'm really starting to understand digital art now. And I'm getting much better at drawing people, too. And the whole process is going faster as well. I used watercolor brushes to color this piece, which was uhhhh... a choice 🤣 But at least with digital, there are layers, erasers, and undo buttons, so it's infinitely easier for me to do digital watercolor as opposed to physical.
Let me know what you think! 😊🖤

an alternate take on why it's forbidden for parabatai to fall in love:
so, y'know, I like the idea of there being some actual threat behind the taboo, that it's not just a thing the Clave decided on for arbitrary reasons but no, there's a good solid reason why this shouldn't happen. However, the "you turn into primordial angel beings and destroy shit and die" really didn't do it for me. Because guaranteed there would be some unhinged parabatai somewhere that'd think, "Yo, that'd be a pretty dope way to go out actually let's try and make it happen" (cough, Emma and Julian, cough) and so it doesn't really have much punch. So I started casting about for other reasons for the taboo and stumbled across one that would not only have severe complications for parabatai who fall in love but also for some parabatai who don't. And I happen to think it's pretty badass, so I'm sharing it here.
The idea is this: it's stated canonically that parabatai feel each others' emotions and pain. Being in love works the same way, and when the person you're in love with is your parabatai, that emotional bond begins to act as an echo chamber, bouncing that state back and forth and back and forth between you and growing louder and louder and louder—until it drowns everything else out.
It's taboo for parabatai to fall in love because you can't do it without becoming unhealthily obsessive with each other. It's not possible. The love echoes in the bond until it grows unhealthily strong, eclipsing love for everyone and anything else, until you start to closed-circuit and isolate yourselves from the rest of the world, because you're trapped in an echo chamber that can't be turned off.
And that's why this headcanon can have consequences for parabatai who don't fall in love, too. Other all-consuming emotions, like hatred (imagine a world where falling out with your parabatai is equally as bad, if not worse, than falling in love with them), obsessive guilt, and spiraling depression, can drag your parabatai down with you through the same kind of echo-chamber effect in the bond. Maybe that's why some of the parabatai we've seen in canon have that weird, awkwardly too-close feeling to them. Not because they're in love with each other. Because one of them is standing at the edge of a cliff and the bond is dragging the other one inexhorably toward it no matter how hard they fight.

Magnus raising Clary
A little something for those of us not too fond of Jocelyn Fairchild/Fray.
What if Magnus had drawn a line the day Jocelyn actually tied her daugther to the chair so that Magnus could take her memories?
So he knocked Jocelyn out, took *her* memories, and then (platonically!!!) shacked up with Luke to raise Clary.
Think about what all would change if Jocelyn and her chaos wasn't a factor.
(also, possible later hilarity between Alec and Clary.
"You are lusting after my parabatai."
"You are lusting after my dad.")
