Imagine if Nico could learn to control when he turns into shadows.
Like, in The Blood of Olympus Nico would start fading after shadow traveling too much, and sometimes Reyna and Coach Hedge wouldn't be able to touch him, and one time he even accidentally walked through a tree. Imagine if he learned to control that intangibility.
Imagine if he could just turn parts of his body into shadows. Imagine if, in a fight, someone swings at him, and he knows he can't dodge in time, so he turns into shadows for a second so the weapon goes right through him, and while his enemy is confused he uses the distraction to land the final blow.
Imagine if he could just walk/reach through walls and doors and stuff.
I just think that, for someone with the title of ghost king (and as a child of the Underworld), he deserves more ghost-like powers.

god im just still thinking about pomme tho. she watched her dad forget who she was On Her Birthday. where has she gone to bed. did she leave bbh, crawl to aypierre's house and huddle into his side? to antoine's, to press against his robes and pretend they could hide her? to etoiles, still sleeping, but still keeping her safe. to baghera's empty tower. no on there to comfort her, no one there to distract her as she stays awake all night trying to figure out what to do. or maybe she didn't go to sleep at all. maybe she's still there with qbad, who we know doesn't sleep much, watching over him and anxiously awaiting his next memory lapse, waiting for the next thing to go wrong. she's just a fucking baby and it was her BIRTHDAY someone get her in a cuddle pile with all her parents Right Now

so we all just have to live with the knowledge that in some impossible universe where saccharina could be a part of the plot without jet’s death, both jet and ruby would have loved saccharina immediately and fiercely. she actually wants to take the throne! she’s cool! she’s tall! she has magic swords! she has a dyed undercut! she’s travelled the world! they would have been absolutely fucking ENAMOURED! amethar would have been overjoyed to have finally found her! he literally sent envoys searching for catherine after the war ended because she was the love of his life, and saccharina is the living, breathing embodiment of the love they shared!!! even caramelinda, who has zero stake in saccharina’s life or wellbeing, would have in all likelihood respected and might’ve even come to like her, maybe could have bonded with her over their shared love for lazuli!! we all just have to go to work and do our homework and buy groceries and feed our pets knowing we could have had all that, that saccharina COULD HAVE had a family the moment she found them after spending her whole life longing for them, but instead ended her story with her father across the continent, her stepmother coolly neutral towards her, jet dead in the ground, her relationship with ruby forever coloured by their first meeting and the fact that it will be years before saccharina is anything to her but a poor man’s jet, and burdened with the leadership of an entire nation at the age of 23! we all just have to pretend like that’s not completely devastating

i feel like there's something so beautifully, terribly, ironically unfair about the contrast between prism and solaris.
incredibly talented women, both swayed by the power and resources zoraxis could provide for them. both so desperate to develop their separate technologies they were willing to be swayed to the side of a backstabbing corporate overlord- despite not even liking them. undoubtedly risking their lives for the sake of their technology- knowingly or otherwise.
having the project they loved so much ripped out of their hands. watching sheets of metal and bolts and rivets so lovingly fastened come undone in the blink of a flaming, volatile second. watching a little piece of you get torn apart and die, and knowing good and well that you should have died with it.
prism wanted a legacy. something that could surpass her- live on for a lifetime after her... and even after the robot agent project failed, she still got that, in the end. because she had it all along, and she just failed to realize it.
but solaris' dream was to propagate laser technology. it was a goal she could not reach without zoraxis' assistance. she wanted to push the boundaries of the potential of her craft. and she did. the death engine was- according to the agency- one of zoraxis' most lethal inventions. it was solaris' crowning achievement. decades- or perhaps even centuries ahead of the current scientific standard.
and phoenix destroyed it in under ten minutes. and she will never get that back. her ties with zoraxis- as far as we know- are cut. her reputation is probably badly damaged after her public association with the company. she will probably never be exposed to the proper conditions to build anything even technologically close to the death engine ever again.
the culmination of her life's work was ripped away from her, and where prism was left with introspection, solaris was left with nothing.
