There is nothing more wholesome than my catholic grandmother trying to understand LGBTQ+ stuff. Like, she has me remind her about all of my friends pronouns, asks me questions about how I learned I was gay, and treats me and Clover the same way she treats my brothers and their girlfriends. The absolute cutest and funniest thing she ever did involved Elliot Page’s coming out. So she read that Elliot Page uses he/they pronouns and, being an old lady where this was her first experience with somebody using multiple pronouns, she fucked it up in the most wholesome way possible. I am guessing that she googled what it meant when somebody used two sets of pronouns, read that it was important to use both of those pronouns for a person, and stopped there. So, rather than using one pronoun when discussing Elliot, she used BOTH AT THE SAME TIME.
“Oh, have you seen his/their post? I am very happy for Elle-ELLIOT (yes she screams to remind herself of peoples ‘new names’)! Do you think he/they is going to keep playing his/their role in umbrella academy?”
Funniest shit that has ever happened. I corrected her about how to actually address somebody with two sets of pronouns and she was like ‘oh thank God that makes much more sense’.
#I love my grandma#she is so funny but so sincere#you could tell that she was in PHYSICAL PAIN trying to use both sets of pronouns#keep in mind that she is one of those grammar obsessed old ladies who will differentiate between who and whom in casual convo#but she was willing to violate the laws of grammar if it meant respecting another person's identity#my biggest flex is that I came out to my catholic grandmother and she was 100% cool with it#as was almost the rest of my family#I'm never coming out to some of them because yeah they'd probably kill me#but everyone else has been lovely about it#I'm so very lucky to have such a wonderful family#my brothers first responses after assuring me that they were cool with it#was asking if I was planning on being public with my GF and if they should be ready to beat people up#Which like?? I don't want y'all to do that for me but I appreciate the offer and will do the same for you.

i don't think tanjiro is the successor of sun breathing 'despite not being related to yoriichi'. i think it's that yoriichi is family to the kamados
in kny, family is whoever loves you. rui tries to make a family but ultimately fails not bc they're not blood related but bc he doesn't really love them. on the other hand, kanae, kocho, and kanao are sisters. zenitsu's master is his grandfather. inosuke's family were the boars (and then of course later, his birth mother kotoha, because tho he barely has any memories of her, he remembers she loved him dearly)
yoriichi was an unwanted child and later an unwanted brother when michikatsu's hatred for him festered and grew. he was rejected from the corps and only had the kamados. when he felt like his existence was worthless, it was the sumiyoshi who told him he deserved to be here as much as everyone else and made the effort to weave yoriichi into the family by passing down his earrings and sword form. he was rejected by his family but accepted by another. if family is whoever loves you, then that's yoriichi's people, and that love was why tanjiro succeeded him

oh, every other horror comedy I've seen can step aside, they have nothing on 1973's The Wicker Man
#midsommer is directly in conversation with this movie; I had no idea#and even love witch borrows a few tricks in staging; and the half-ironic sense of humor#I could see the bones of scarfolk too; probably other british folk horror#but interesting twists - the deliberate artificiality of the rituals! the roving greek chorus of the town! the matter-of-fact sexuality!#(I did love the not-actually-sex sex scene. that worked marvelously for me;#so did the mum who greeted all of howe's questioning with placid cheerfulness; cutting into cakes#shaped like ritual sacrifices and denying that she knows anything about her own daughter)#it's just a very funny movie! except for the moment when howe and summerisle face off on the cliff face#and howe screams about how summerisle will be next. that is the one sincere moment in the whole thing#and it rings out like a struck bell. it does.#a proscenium for our dreams

I think the reason Charles never refers to Hawkeye by his name is because it’s a nickname, because he’ll call BJ, Margaret, and Klinger by their names without issue, and I could write up an entire post about Charles’ approach to names and nicknames and I might come back and do that tomorrow when it’s not so late
For now I just want to make the point that there’s a scenario in my head where Charles tried one (1) time to call Hawkeye Benjamin in casual conversation and the entire conversation ground to a halt because they both got incredibly uncomfortable about it because it sounded so WRONG and they agreed to never talk about it again

ok so was I just not paying attention (or not actually around anyone who talked about it when it was airing) or did everyone forget to tell me Gravity Falls is actually good
#idk man I was under the impression it was silly and stupid but also had an undertone of interesting characters and mystery#It's the opposite; honestly really sincere#and the jokes land honestly#not all of them for me specifically of course#but I just saw the episode that the 'wow this is worthless' meme came from and that joke actually made me laugh out loud#I'm not very far in but man this is good so far#obviously it reuses a lot of well-trodden tropes but this is some of my favorite execution I've seen of a lot of them#the dipper clone episode was in-character and interesting and clever#the twins have a good relationship with each other and Stan and Wendy and Soos#Dipper's crush on Wendy is based on him actually liking her personality and not on 'hrrr girl pretty' and he acts a normal amount of awkwar#around her instead of completely loosing his mind#Mable isn't a complete bobblehead she's just a silly girl! i had so much fun last night omg
