Charlastor Week #2: Human Au

When Alastor had first arrived into the cafe, he was preoccupied with a book that he had been reading. When he placed his order for a coffee and received it, he turned around and felt himself get a little annoyed. He had been planning to stay a little while at the cafe for some alone time, but it appeared that all of the tables had been occupied with various college students, people who wanted to get away from the snow outside, etc. An uncharacteristic frown pulled down the sides of his lips as he continued to survey the scene.

Perhaps if he waited a few more minutes? No, the more Alastor looked, the more he realized that the college students were going to be at this place for more than a couple more hours, the people who wanted to get away from the snow were probably going to stay there until the weather let up outside, and well…. Well, it looked like Alastor was going to take the dangerous trek outside into the dank, depressing cold.

What a waste.

As Alastor took a sip out of his cup, he noticed that at one corner of the shop, there was a table facing the window. The table itself was meant to cater to four people, but only one person was present. She was blonde, had her hair up in a messy bun, and she sat closest to the window, which she used as a rest for her body as she lazily flipped through pages of a large textbook. Ah, Alastor thought to himself. Must be a college student.

Which meant…

Without a care in the world, Alastor strode over to the table near the window and stopped directly in front of the young woman. Up close, he could see that her cheeks were flushed a deep red, her lips were painted a lovely shade of black. At first, she seemed to be engrossed in her reading, but that all changed when he politely coughed out a small “Ahem”.

Startled, the young woman dropped the book she was holding onto the table, the resulting thud causing some of her pens and highlighters to clatter onto the floor. It was an amusing sight if it were not for the way her lips pursed and her eyes seemed to flash with irritation. Now, that just wouldn’t do for his plan!

Quickly, he got down on one knee and swept all of the fallen instruments into his hand before placing them back on the table. This time, as he looked down at the woman, she seemed in awe at him. Her mouth was open in a small ‘o’ and the redness in her cheeks had darkened just a tad. Alastor bit back a smug smirk—at this rate, he would surely get a seat, and near a window, no less!

“Sorry about that, darling! I didn’t mean to interrupt.”

The woman, still stunned from his sudden aid, swallowed and replied with a hasty, “Not at all! Just startled, is all.” She looked up at him through her dark lashes and canted her head to the side. “Did… did you need anything… sir?”

“How rude of me! Alastor, at your service!” He placed a hand over his heart and bowed slightly. “However, at the moment, I’m in need of your help!” He raised a brow as he straightened from his position. “If you’re up to helping me, that is.”

For a moment, the woman looked unsure of herself. Alastor’s grip over his coffee cup tightened. Did his course of action not play out like he had planned? Did he really have to brave the ungodly low temperatures outside? He braced himself, ready for rejection when—

The young woman began clearing three fourths of the table—goodness! she took up a lot of workspace!—so that only her corner was inhabited by her multitude of papers, highlighters, and books. Once again, she situated herself nearest the window and sat back down, a pleasant smile on her face as she gestured for him to sit down.

Now, there was another dilemma that Alastor had to attend to.

Should he sit directly in front of the young woman? Right next to the window?

Or should he sit diagonally across from her?

As Alastor contemplated, the young woman looked up at him, smiled, and pointed at the chair in front of her. “You can sit there, I don’t mind.”

Alastor blinked. That was unexpected. “Thank you, my dear! Looks like I’ve chosen the best spot in the house!”

“Oh? Why?”

Alastor smiled over the rim of his coffee. “Because I get two wonderful views to choose from.”

If the young woman had been sipping her own beverage, she would have had a spit take. As it were, she merely choked a little on her words. “Anyway, I just realized, I haven’t introduced myself.” She proffered a hand, a hand that Alastor took into his own. “I’m Charlie!”

Charlie. Huh. Short and snappy, just like Alastor liked it.

“Well,” Alastor withdrew and began to fiddle with his own novel that he brought with him. “I won’t keep you.” He nodded to the stack of textbooks that sat at her side. “You should probably get back to studying.”

“Right!”

Standard silence amid the soft music and the chatter of the patrons around them filled in for the lack of conversation. It took only a moment, but Alastor began to be heavily invested in his novel. It was a story about a young man who had decided to kill some pawnbroker for money and was now dealing with the moral and real life consequences that follow after. It was an interesting read, if a little dry at some parts. As he turned the pages, his sensitive hearing began to pick up the sound of hushed mumbles.

He looked over the spine of his book and found that the lazy smile that he usually had on his face had softened into something that resembled fond awe. There was a highlighter sticking out of her mouth, a pen stuck behind her ear and into the already unruly bun, and she was desperately scribbling something into a notebook. During the entire time, she was mumbling snippets of what she was skimming through.

Frankly, it was far more entertaining than the book that he was reading.

He placed his book on the table and leaned a hand against the heel of his palm. He watched her as he hummed a small ditty under his breath.

As he did so, he took notice of the textbooks that lay on her side. From his point of view, they were upside down, but if he concentrated hard enough, oh my.

“I’m majoring in psychology.”

Alastor’s eyes flitted back up to hers, mischief rather than shame lighting up his features.

“That was my initial impression, yes. Am I bothering you?”

Charlie checked the time on her phone before turning back to Alastor.

“Actually, no. I think it’s about time I reward myself with a fifteen minute break.” She closed one of her textbooks and tossed it onto her growing pile of psychology books. “You’re not from around here, are you?”

His eyes narrowed. Was he being obvious? Or was she being intuitive?

Charlie giggled at his expression. “You’re wearing a knitted cap, a scarf, gloves, and a very heavy coat. It’s only twenty degrees out there! It’s not that bad if you’re used to the cold.”

“How do you know that I’m not just protecting myself?”

Charlie gestured towards the rest of the populace within the coffee shop.

Alastor sighed. “Point taken.”

“You can take the hat off.”

Well, Alastor didn’t want to make it obvious that he was heeding her opinion, but it was awfully warm and well.

Oh well.

He sighed and took off his hat, careful to not ruffle his hair too much in the process.

“And you? Are you from here?”

The young woman shook her head, some of her golden locks falling loose from her bun. She covered her mouth with one of her hands and said, “I’m actually from Canada! Let me guess, one of the southern states?”

“Care to guess which one?”

“I haven’t the slightest what states make up the south, so you’ll have to enlighten me.”

“Louisiana. New Orleans, to be exact.”

Her eyes, pretty, dark, and brown, nearly popped out of her skull as she bounced forward in her seat. Excitement and wonder sparkled manically in her eyes as she propped her chin against the ball of her fist. He held her attention, fully and without much coaxing.

How wonderful!

“No way! Where’s the accent?”

Alastor chuckled. “Ya mean like dis?”

Charlie’s head fell onto the table with such unprecedented force, Alastor was half attempted to start yelling for an ambulance. Much to his vague amusement, Charlie started laughing a little uncontrollably, which only garnered the attention of the rest of the patrons there. Alastor didn’t mind the unwanted attention, he basked in it, but he did send a warning smile towards the rest of the patrons there to knock it off. It wouldn’t do for dear Charlie to get embarrassed.

“Your-your—!” Charlie could barely talk breathe through her bout of laughter, much less talk. She peeked up at him before another set of giggles overtook her. “Do you honestly… do you honestly sound like that?”

“Why, are you mocking the way I speak?”

Charlie’s eyes widened in alarm. That wasn’t what she meant at all!

“I’m joking, dear.” Alastor replied smoothly. “Although, perhaps if you want to get to know me more,” he lowered his voice just so and looked at her in that certain way and, “we could leave this cafe and—”

He stopped immediately when he saw that Charlie’s face was turning a very becoming shade of red.

“Ah...I actually have an exam tomorrow and, er—” She scribbled something on a piece of paper and handed it to him with the aplomb of someone who had caught on fire.

Miraculously, Alastor didn’t comment on it; instead, he took it and and found that his already present smile had turned into a smirk.

He didn’t even have to try to get her number! She just gave it to him!

That was…new. And unexpected.

But definitely not unwelcome.

He took a sip from his coffee and smiled gently at Charlie.

The best seat in the coffee shop not only had a beautiful view, but had perfect willingness to engage with him. How wonderful!

He saluted her with a jaunty wave and she giggled before returning to her studies.

WWE NXT Takeover Toronto 2019 – Preview & Predictions

Adam Cole (c) vs Johnny Gargano – NXT Championship 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match

The third big match of their rivalry takes place tonight, and truthfully mostly everything has already been said about both guys. The extra touches to this feud recently have been some great video packages put together by the NXT team, the Cole celebration tour video visiting Gargano’s father as well as his gym, and this weeks hype video were both awesome in adding the extra touches to make this feel different to the other matches.

Now the added difference here with the 2 out of 3 falls stipulation is both guys getting to select their own stip to one of the falls, and NXT GM William Regal adding one for the 3rd fall if needed. A straight one on one match as well as a street fight have already been chosen by the competitors, but come on this is blatantly going 3 falls so all comes down to Regals choice. The smirk/grin that Regal gave during this weeks show when talking about it had got me thinking one of two things, either we go completely comedic to confuse everyone and Regal names the 3rd fall as musical chairs. Or, they go 1-1 and both guys are yelling at Regal to make a bigger stip like a first blood match for example, Regal must beat it and announces, ‘loser leaves NXT’. The crowd will pop in confusement and shock and both wrestlers will love the chance to vanquish the other, then we can have them regret the decision very quickly after allowing some interesting promos after by Regal in regretting the decision but HAVING to go big. Maybe just a cage match with weapons....

I don’t see the result here going any other way than Cole walking out as champion as I need Gargano to be out of the title picture as he has bored me a fair bit lately, out of NXT or not I just need him doing something fresh for awhile – COLE

Shayna Baszler (c) vs Mia Yim – NXT Women’s Championship Match

Ive been saying it for months but is this actually the time to take the title away from Shayna and close out her second title reign? The women’s division does need a change as she’s mowed threw most of the women she’s faced, but, I don’t really rate Yim that highly.

After Mia came in I said to friends that I don’t rate her but gave her time to show me more in her NXT run, but she really hasn’t done too much to impress me sadly. The story is there for her, the video package was great, but her in-ring isn’t my favourite (not saying she’s awful in the slightest) and calling herself the HBIC is dreadful. If you’re outside of the WWE and a heel then great the Head Bitch In Charge is a decent gimmick to sell shirts from, but in the WWE the Head Baddie In Charge (or Blasian) just sounds stupid especially as she’s a face lol

But as I mentioned I still think they have her take the strap, more on Shayna later, then we move to Io moving into the title scene and quickly taking the belt herself – YIM

Pete Dunne vs The Velveteen Dream (c) vs Roderick Strong – NXT North American Triple Threat Match

This match should be great, all talented guys that will be around for years growing and growing, and for this match I see Roddy being the guy to shine. He’s been such a monster in the ring for quite awhile now and goes so far under the radar its unbelievable, if the guy was a foot taller he’d be in main events on Raw or Smackdown destroying people.

I did originally want a longer Dream title reign but to be honest he’s a character that really doesn’t always need a title to defined him and his character, so its not a big loss if he does indeed lose. And we don’t really know about Dunne and if he’s over in NXT for awhile or just a one off, I lean to him being around for longer and being the next challenger for this title but really he should be on Smackdown making an impact right now for me – STRONG

The Street Profits (c) vs The Undisputed Era – NXT Tag Team Championship Match

Another match I sadly see as being pretty easy to predict, with the Profits being on Raw weekly they really are just counting down the days with NXT until the move is a full one, and the final chapter they need to close is that of having the tag titles. But the main thing here is that they NEED to have a top notch quality match tonight to see them make the move more smoothly, if they stink up the joint they may see their NXT stay extended (they wont, don’t worry).

Will be nice to see them make the jump to Raw but really are a team that needs more seasoning for another year as the top guys in the division, as they really haven’t had a long run on tv compared to others as they seem to have been slightly streaky in their appearances for awhile. Plus, I think the company is missing a trick by not having them both make the jump with Bianca Belair at their side, all three as equals making an impact all motivating each other to success, would be a super positive stable.

Sadly the Undisputed Era don’t seem to be close to getting called so while in NXT I need them all in main events as much as possible, I don’t think they fully know what they have with the group until they don’t have them. These guys are vital in getting newer wrestlers tv ready as well as giving them vital in-ring experience working with great wrestlers. Plus the key thing for me is that if you hadn’t noticed this show will finish with ALL of the Undisputed Era holding gold to close the show…… - UE

Candice LaRea vs Io Shirai

A second women’s match on a Takeover, at last, this match should be really fast paced and passionate with both women being great. Io’s new heel character is undoubtedly awesome and if your more than just a WWE viewer you’ve most likely seen her before and know the damage she can produce. And isn’t it nice that Candice finally is getting the chance and a bigger spotlight to shine her-self, as she really hasn’t had the focus she deserves since joining the company (Hi Keith!)

A one-sided match this should become but that doesn’t mean it wont be fun along the way, Io takes the win and moves higher up the card. Man, how much better and more passionate though would this have been if Kairi hadn’t have been called up and Io had turned on her? – SHIRAI

This should, as usual, be a really fun NXT Takeover, albeit a heel heavy winners side.

I have a feeling there may be afew callups in the near future and some of the results tonight may make it clearer as to who will be gone soon or who will be wound down slightly over the next month before leaving. Dream/Profits/Shayna are the main people im thinking about and the ones to keep an eye on, I expect the Profits to take a round of applause after their bout similar to Ricochet and Black did previously.

As well as the matches announced I think they may still do something with Riddle/Dain after them not having their match on this weeks tv, maybe a quick match or another big angle to setup something for tv perhaps?

The depth they have currently is massive when you cant guarantee a Matt Riddle match, let alone having Keith Lee under contract and not really doing anything solid with him in a year, or Kushida who hasn’t been a focus the past few weeks after being focused on pretty heavy since his debut.

And to lead on from that Im not sure we really need more guys coming BACK to NXT from the main roster, Breeze/Dango/Crews and potentially more. While it does give them the chance to alter their gimmicks and regain some confidence from how they’ve been handled the past few years on the main roster, they really just are taking tv time from others that need it more. The problem we have is that the company aren’t releasing people anymore with AEW as competition so many guys are just backstage during Raw watching the show or eating in catering, at least the guys mentioned are guys that have requested to move down to help theirselves better what they do, but at the same time they’ve had the opportunity and haven’t been able to cling to it while others are desperate for that same opportunity. But hey, this is a topic we could talk on A LOT more another time.

Responding to the Alt-Right playbook, part 1

Disclaimer: I wrote this after seeing the first four minutes of the video. While watching the rest I noticed a few things I bring up are addressed later, though in such a way as to lead to even more questions. Still, I think most of it stands, and it’s still useful as a kind of stream of consciousness response, so I’ll leave it untouched.

Sometimes, in the wee hours of the morning when I just finished reading my newspaper, I will enjoy myself with a few infuriating youtube videos. Lately I’ve been quite disillusioned by the part of youtube calling itself liberal spouting nationalist propaganda at my beloved European project, so I’ve switched to some corners of the website which are friendlier to my blood pressure. That’s how I came across a video called "The Alt-Right Playbook: The Card Says Moops” by Innuendo Studios. Apparently he is somewhat of a big deal with his 150k plus subscribers, though I never heard of him. Just two minutes into the video though I knew I was going to write this response. While it didn’t make me angry the way I might have been in the past, there’s just so much wrong here, I cant bottle this up any longer.

Say, for the sake of argument, you’re online blogging about a black journalists’ commentary on marketing trends in video games, movies and comic books and you’re saying how the vitriol in response to her fairly benign opinions reveals the deep seated racism and misogyny in a number of fan communities, most especially those that lean right,...

Quite an unlikely scenario since I’m not in the business of assuming ones leanings on race, gender or politics based on their opinions on movies, games or comic books, but let’s roll with it I guess.

...When a right leaning commenter pops in to say: “Or maybe they just actually disagree with her about marketing trends! For Christs sake, there’s no mystery here. People aren’t speaking in coded language. They are telling you wat they believe. She had a bad opinion. Why do you have to make it bigger than that? Why can’t you ever take people at their word?”

Here’s where I feel validated in making this response, because while I don’t consider myself right leaning, as hard as that might be to believe for some, this is exactly the kind of response I might have given. So props to Innuendo Studios for accurately portraying an argument of one of his opponents. Unfortunately he then continues:

You pause and ponder this for a moment. Hmmm. Uh heck with it! You’re in a discoursing mood. Let’s do this! Mister conservative, in order for me to take you at your word your words would have to show some consistency. Let me just lightning-round a few questions about the reactionary web’s positions on marketing trends.

The first major problem should be obvious to anyone right about now. How is anyone supposed to answer for the “reactionary web”? Hell, I don’t even know what that’s supposed to be. The caricature in the video wears a 4chan logo on its chest, so maybe he’s referring to the /pol/ imageboard. Well, I don’t hang out there, and I’m pretty sure most of the people who would have been critical of that opinion piece don’t either. Therefore I feel justified in ignoring that particular remark and just give my own answers to these questions. After all: the people on /pol/ are clearly not the only ones he’s talking to at this point.

Do you believe that having the option to romance same sex characters in an rpg turns the game into queer propaganda...

No. On a side note though: the video at this point shows an image of the game Mass Effect. I remember when that game came out there was some controversy over the game showing sex scenes between the characters. Remember that this was but a few years sine the GTA hot coffee mod upheaval, so people where a bit more sensitive about such things. But never have I heard anyone complain about the same sex romance options. I can imagine there were a few disapproving voices but I never came across them, even though I followed the launch very closely at the time.

...or do you believe that killing strippers in an action game can’t be sexist because no one’s making you do it?

I believe it can be sexist, but I never seen an example of it actually being sexist. Not because no one makes you do it, though. It’s because the amount of strippers killed in video games pales in comparison to the amount of other people killed. I’m willing to bet that video games depict more men being killed by women than the other way around, with the vast majority being male on male killings. The fact that there’s one or two games where a man has the option to kill some female sex workers hardly seems significant in that light.

Do you believe that the pervasiveness of sexualised young women in pop culture is just there because it sells and that’s capitalism and we all need to deal with it...

Yes, for the most part. I guess one can add a few nuances here and there, but that about covers the gist of it.

...or do yo believe that a franchise has an obligation to cater to its core audience even if diversifying beyond that audience is more profitable?

Ooh boy, where do I start? Okay, first of all: those two are not mutually exclusive. I know there is this pervasive idea in some parts of western culture that people can only identify with others of the same sex, race and/or cultural background, but that’s just not true. As such it’s perfectly possible to be both diverse and give your core audience what they want. Criticism of a failure to do the second does not automatically translate to criticism of succeeding at the first. Where the two usually meet is when creators use the first as an excuse to take away from the second, either because of their own incompetence or their disinterest in the franchise they are working on.

Which brings us to our second point: while diversity does not have to hurt a franchise, too often creators are too lazy to put effort in making sure it doesn’t because they haven’t got their priorities straight. They think that covering their bases in terms of diversity is the most important thing and everything else is an afterthought. The movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi, who’s cast is partly depicted in the video at this point, is actually a perfect example of this. No one thought Finn and Rose were such interesting characters that audiences wanted to see an entire subplot devoted exclusively to them. They were clearly there just to tick some boxes, not because of a creative spark that led an artist to lovingly craft these characters. The result was perhaps the most universally despised part of the movie, at least among hardcore fans. And yeah, they do deserve a bit more consideration than any other demographic, don’t you think? They are the ones who made this into a franchise to begin with. Without them this movie wouldn’t even have been made.

Lastly: there is a reason the saying “get woke, go broke” exists. If Rose was just there to appeal to Asian markets that would be one thing. I do think there’s something to the idea that putting characters of the same race as the target audience in your movie makes them easier to market. The thing is though: it didn’t work! The movie bombed in China, and I think that’s also because of the messages the creators were trying to send. To take a timeless hero’s journey narrative like Star Wars and try to insert current events and political messages in it just can’t end well. Yet, the creators persisted, and this is reflective of a lot of the culture behind those narratives. When a political message becomes the driving force behind the creative process it’s almost certain to produce sub par results. A creator has to be extremely talented to pull this off, and lets face it: most aren’t up to the task. Instead the art devolves into soulless political propaganda, and this is what stings people who love the franchise so much. Me personally, I am a big fan of making the political personal when you want to convey a political message. We can identify with personal struggles much more than with abstract political ideas. So characters should always be the focus, even if you want to make a statement.

Do you think words are inherently harmless and only oversensitive snowflakes would care about racialised language...

Words? Yes. The ideas expressed by those words? No. That’s why intention is so important to me, and the “oversensitive snowflakes” who focus on just the words are so not helping the debate in my opinion.

...or do you think it’s racist if someone calls you mayonaise boy?

Probably, yes. Though I can’t think of any reason why someone would call me that, other than to insult me by way of my race. On the other hand, I do really like mayonaise...

And as long as I’ve got your ear: are you the party that believes in the right to keep and bear arms because you’re distrustful of all authority and what if we need to overthrow the government some day...

No, no and no. I am not a party, nor am I affiliated with any party that espouses those kinds of opinions on the possession of arms. I personally do not believe in the right to bear arms, though I’m not especially passionate about it one way or the other. I guess being Dutch means I'm not really caught up in any debate surrounding arms, since it’s a bit of a non-issue here. Also: while I think authority should always be scrutinised, I wouldn’t characterise this as distrust.

...or do you believe that cops are civil servants and we should trust their account of events whenever they shoot a black man for looking like he might have a gun.

Well, aren’t cops civil servants? I seem to remember so. Anyway, I don’t think “looking like they might have a gun” is ever a good excuse to shoot anyone, so there you have it. Do keep in mind that we send cops out on the street partly to use force in neutralising dangerous individuals, so we shouldn’t be surprised when that gets out of hand sometimes. But honestly, I am not well informed enough on this topic to know how much trust to put in any side of this issue. I think looking at this on a case by case basis is the only thing we can do.

Not necessarily, no

Is capitalism a defence for decisions you don’t agree with, or isn’t it?

That’s a rather broad statement. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. It depends on what you are trying to defend.

Is language harmful, or not?

If you use it to promote harmful ideas, then yes.

Do you hate authority, or love cops and the troops?

Neither, really. I don’t hate authority just for being authority, and if anything soldiers and cops invoke pity in me. I guess that comes from growing up with a PTSD ridden veteran for a father.

Well, that’s the end of the questions. One might think I wasted a lot of time going through that, because shortly afterwards he goes on to say:

Gee, you think? However, what then follows is an excuse to lump al these people together anyway.

We’ll call them Engelbert and Charlemagne. Maybe Engelbert’s the one who thinks any institution funded by tax money is socialist and therefore bad, and Charlemagne’s the one who says we should dump even more tax money into the military and thinking otherwise is unamerican.

I happen to hold neither of those opinions. Yes, it is actually possible to completely stand behind the hypothetical statement you made in the beginning of the video, and not subscribe to typical right wing convictions like that. But I know that there are people who do, so let’s see where his is going.

But here’s the thing: y’all have have very fundamentally different beliefs and you’re so passionate bout them that you’re entering search terms into twitter to find people you don’t even follow and aggressively disagree with them...

That’s quite a lot of assumptions there mate. I don’t think this is even a remotely fair representation of your opposition. Certainly not true for me. I don’t even have a twitter account (no, I wasn’t kicked off. I never had an account there to begin with), let alone do I ever browse that website. Putting that aside though, how do you know if there’s anyone who actually does this? People can retweet things after all; maybe that’s how they find the contentious twitter users. I found your video because youtube recommended it, and I clicked on it because the title intrigued me. I didn’t set out to look for things to disagree with, despite my quips at the beginning of this piece.

Certainly not true either. I've had quite a few online arguments with alt-righters, who in my opinion differ from actual Nazi’s in only slight and insignificant ways, and fervent nationalists. Of course that’s never going to garner the kind of attention as when Sargon of Akkad sends a mean tweet to a female politician. Speaking of Carl, his vicious disagreement with the alt-right is well documented, and their hatred for him caused quite a few equally vicious attacks against him and his family. But I don’t blame you for not knowing that. The majority of both of their vitriol is still directed at the extreme left, and why shouldn’t it? I don’t think there is an extremist position so pervasive in the western media these days. Again: there is no alt-right equivalent of Star Wars: the Last Jedi, because none of those people work in Hollywood, or anywhere else of note (with the possible and unfortunate exception of the white house).

...and I can’t say how often it happens, but I know if I let Engelbert go on long enough he sometimes makes a Charlemagne argument and vise versa.

Either you’re saying that both of them contradict themselves while framing it in quite an unnecessarily suggestive way, or you’re displaying a rather tribalist mindset in which worldviews can never overlap. Either way, I don’t think the following statement is justified...

See, I don’t take you at your word because I cannot form a coherent worldview out of the things you say.

The fault might lie with you in this case I’m afraid. The reason I went over those questions in the beginning is to show that it is perfectly possible to have consistent views on all of those issues and still be counted among those who would oppose you on this one. I don’t think you really know who it is that you’re projecting all this on. You think my worldview has to have inconsistencies if I disagree with you on the nature of the discourse surrounding popular media, but you’ve yet to correctly identify any. I think the saying “truth resists simplicity” is one you should tale to heart a lot more. Case in point:

Why are you so capable of respecting disagreement between each other yet so incapable of respecting me, or, for that matter, a black woman.

While that may seem like a coherent statement at a first glance, it actually betrays an incredibly simplistic way of looking at things. You see, you’re comparing three entirely different things one can respect: the fact of genuine disagreement between two parties, you, an individual person, and any given black woman, that is: a demographic. The first has to be respected, otherwise discourse is impossible. Though it must be said that me and the alt-right probably have very little respect for each others motivations, but unlike you the alt-right doesn’t ever really ask for my respect. The second deserves respect only when earned, and the third deserves neither respect nor disparagement, because it’s an incredibly varied group of people, some of whom deserve respect and some of whom don’t.

It kinda seems like you’re playing games and I’m the opposing team, and anyone who’s against me is your ally...

That entirely depends on what we’re talking about, doesn’t it? If we’re talking about diversity in media and the issues surrounding it, I will find myself on one side of the board surrounded by people I would usually disagree with, and you would find yourself on the other side, presumably only surrounded by people who agree with you one hundred percent of the time. It seems you think it a bad thing that people can temporarily overcome their differences when faced with a common problem. That’s why some call you radical: you cannot ally with anyone who isn’t in complete lockstep with you, because they are not pure enough in their conviction. But that’s what fracturing societies are made of, so if you don’t mind I’ll stick to my methods. If that leaves you outnumbered on your side of the board it’s because you chose to champion a very unpopular opinion, and I can’t help that.

...and you’re not really taking a position, but claiming to believe in whatever would need to be true in order to score points against me.

If I did that then why even bother engaging with me? Clearly I don’t actually believe anything I say, so there’s no need to convince me otherwise. Are you sure it’s me who is supposed to have contradictory opinions? But in all seriousness, I don’t see why I would ever adopt such a strategy unless I’m either just a troll or addicted to arguments, and hey: there are people like that, but they don’t represent your entire political opposition. Get a grip.

After that we get the title drop, which, I have to admit, was really clever and amusing. I never watched Seinfeld, but maybe I should. Anyway, my free Saturday is passing me by like a speeding train, so I will continue this later.... maybe.

Something random but fitting of this blogs sub-nature(anon confessions). Is having friends supposed to stop you from feeling lonely and if not then is it your fault? Idk recently ive just not been feeling it with my friends and it makes me think that its on me. Ofc this is all very vague to answer but could you tell me maybe how you realised that your friends really are the ones? And maybe give me hope that it wont always be like this. Thanks lori youre always the best even if you ignore this❤

Sorry it took me so long to reply to this one, i needed a keyboard and ive been permamobile for many days now.

How did i realize that my friends were the ones? Honestly i dont have many friends. Not real life friends. I have MANY superficial friends that come into my life for a few months at a time during the times when i feel like socializing with them, but usually i grow tired of them and prefer to spend more and more time away until they kind of just vanish. I dont make very much effort to keep in contact with people and im not saying this is the way to be, this is just the way i am so I cant really relate to that feeling of wanting a whole bunch of friends, i think you really only need one or two good ones for life.

As an adult i tend to be pickier about who i consider a friend. I even recently told my husband he wasnt my best friend and i think he got really sad but nimodo hes not my best friend, we share very little interests in common, that doesnt mean i dont love him, i love him and hes nice to be around but i cant really be 100% myself around him because you know what? Hes another person. I can only ever been 100% myself around myself. I censor myself with different people, change my speech to cater to them, change the music i listen to, change the habits i have, even something as simple as the weird way i want to listen to the same song over and over and over again literally all day long thats something i can only do when im alone and so i tend to want to be alone most of my day.

I DO have one person who i consider my best friend. She lives in another city and we text each other every day and ive known her since college. She is the kind of person that i can pick back up with after years of not seeing each other and it’s honestly like she never left.

Now, about the loneliness. I dont really feel loneliness? I enjoy being alone too much to feel anything negative about it, but im constantly surrounded by people. Im a mom with a family and they never go away. Especially when i want them to, idk. What even is loneliness i want to be alone, leave me alone GOD.

I think, perhaps it could be helpful to redefine what the requirements of friends are in your life. Your happiness is not contingent on the actions of others. You an still find some happiness in your hobbies and interests without relying entirely on friends to fill that void for you. Friends are great, friends are part of being a person and its great to spend time with them, but they aren’t the end all and be all of your happiness. Nor should you give them so much power.

Either way im sorry you feel lonely. I’m sorry i wasnt more helpful here, idk how to answer this really. :/

I stirred from my sleep, woken by a combination of the sunlight streaming in through my window, and my phone ringing like crazy. I ignored it, and ran to the bathroom. Literally, I can't hold my pee for more than three hours at a time now...

Did I mention how great pregnancy is?

"You're gonna kill me little one..." I laughed as I rubbed my stomach. This little on just loooves to sit right on my bladder. I walked out to the bedroom to hear my phone buzzing again. I sighed as I walked over to it, glancing casually at the screen.

"Oh shit!" I mutter as I slid the screen to answer.

"Hello?"

The gruff voice on the other end laughed, "Hey kiddo, how ya doin'? Did we wake you?"

I smiled, "'Course not, Hunter! Psshh, I've been up for hours, you know just...hitting the gym and--"

"Yeah, Yeah, Yeah." HHH laughed, "Steph is here too by the way."

"Hey Ella, how are you feeling?"

I sighed with contentment, "I'm doing okay! I'm almost 5 months now, so at least the morning sickness is over."

She laughed before Hunter spoke. "So listen kid, we know you've been missing this place, and while we cant have you around the ring, we have an offer for you."

Stephanie continued, "That's right, and we were just wondering if you would be interested in being a backstage interviewer? We would make sure you wouldn't be put in harms way, and keep your segments from the chest up if you'd like."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing! "Absolutely! God I've missed it so much! I--" My voice caught in my throat.

"Ella? You still there?" HHH asked.

I cleared my throat, "Y-yeah! Yes I-I am. Just one question, what side would I be on? Raw or Smackdown."

I held my breath waiting for an answer, Stephanie spoke softly, "Unfortunately right now, we only have a need for a Raw corresponder..."

My mind raced, I can't go to Raw...can I? Seth is there. He'll see me, and I'll see him and then he'll know. I don't know if I'm ready for all that.

Clearly the filter between my brain and my mouth isn't working, because before I knew it, words came flying out."Sure. I can do that!" I slapped my forehead. Smooth Ella, real smooth.

I heard a clap on the other end of the phone, "Perfect! We're gonna fly you up to Boston for Monday morning okay?" HHH asked.

"Sounds great, thank you Hunter, Steph...it means so much to me than you could ever know."

They both sighed, "Anything for you, kid."

For my first flight while being pregnant, it wasn't too bad. I walked through the airport glancing out the window to see the sun just kissing the horizon. I checked the time, 5:24 AM.

I yawned, mindlessly heading for the luggage belt, when suddenly I felt two pokes on either side of my ribs.

"Ah!" I jumped up and turned around, to see a gorgeous pair of hazel eyes staring me down.

"Nia!" I wrapped my arms around her as best I could with this growing belly.

She laughed as she hugged me, "My little munchkin! I've missed you so much!"

"What are you doing here!?" I asked, still breathless to see my best friend.

She continued walking with me to the luggage belt, "Hunter asked if I would be willing to help you get outta sight and to the hotel safely. So of course I said yes! I had no idea you were coming back though, no one really knows..."

Nia gave me a look that said everything. "Well, that's good. I still don't know what I'm gonna do, girl. I'm going to see him, it's kind of inevitable at this point."

She sighed, "Maybe this is a good thing. You are going to have to tell him, Ella. Not to be too blunt, but no matter what he's done to you, he has a right to know, It's his child too."

I nodded. I suddenly felt unbelievably nauseous, "Let's just get to the hotel, I think I need to lay down for a little before we go to the arena..."

I paced in my hotel room, waiting for Nia to tell me it was time to head out. I tried on multiple outfits, trying to find something that would hide my ever-growing bump, finally settling one on that wasn't the worst.

I flopped on the bed, feeling defeated and all around icky about this whole thing.

I let out a deep breath, "Alrighty little love, you ready to do this? I mean, I think I am." I rubbed my belly as I spoke to the little life just inches from my hand.

"You don't know this, but you're the reason I do everything now. You're what makes me brave and you're what makes me want to be a better person. I just hope I can make you proud of you're Mama someday--" I paused, "...I also hope your Dad doesn't bolt when he finds out about you."

My thoughts consumed me as I felt tears fall out of the side of my eyes. I don't think I've ever faced the reality of having to see Seth again, and I definitely never faced the thought of being a single parent. I never even thought I'd be a parent before 30.

I wish I knew what his reaction would be, but--I don't know him anymore. When we were together, we were so in sync with each other, but now I don't even know if any of that was real.

My thoughts were interrupted by a knock at my door. "Come in!"

"Hey! Ready to get going?" Nia asked joyfully. I stood up, "Sure am, just let me put my dress on." I chose my black maxi dress, and a long, patchy denim jacket.

"Whatcha think? I picked this 'cause if you look straight at me, ya can't see the bump fully. The jacket hides it a bit too."

Nia smiled, "Looks great, Munch--let's go."

I walked through the arena doors with Nia before heading our separate ways. Despite having a nervous mind, my heart felt right at home. I followed the weathered paper signs straight to Hunter's office, and lightly tapped on the door.

I heard the shuffling of papers, "Yeah? Come in..."

My hand slowly pushed the door open. His heavy brow looked up from behind his reading glasses, and a warm smile spread from ear to ear.

"Hey there, Ella..." He said standing to hug me. "Hunter, how are you?" I felt so relaxed in his hug, he embraced me the way a father embraces a daughter,it was as though I could feel the love coming off of him.

"You're joking--you walk in here 5 months pregnant and you as me how I am? Typical Ella." he laughed. "Please, sit." HHH pulled the chair out for me before walking to sit in his own. "So how the baby? Everything look good, normal check-ups?"

I nodded, "Yup. He or She is thriving so I've been told."

Hunter nodded in comprehension before leaning forward on his desk, letting out a sigh, "Look kiddo, I know this whole...situation isn't ideal for anyone. I'm going to try and make it as easy a transition as I can okay? This is your home and I want you to feel as comfortable as ever. If you need anything, and I mean anything from me, you let me know. If you're ever put in an uncomfortable situation, I wanna hear about it. I'll do my best to keep the rumor machine down but you know--"

I interrupted his kind words with a small sob. I pulled a tissue out of my bag, "I'm so sorry...hormones." I said dabbing my eyes.

He reached across and put his hand on mine. "If this is too overwhelming for you--"

"No...I'm okay. I'm just not used to having other care about me as much as you and Steph do. I love you guys like you were my own parents, ya know? I just wanna make you proud."

"You do, Ella. We're very proud of how you're handling this, especially all on your own."

I smiled as I wiped more tears, and let out a long breath. "Okay, let's go do this."

"Oh my God! I can't believe this!" Sasha said her hands on my tummy. "What is it?! Is it a girl! I bet it's a girl."

I laughed, "I honestly don't know yet. I haven't been letting my doctor tell me." Which was true, I don't want to know. Not yet anyways. I stood up from the makeup chair, my hair put in a high bun, my lips painted a gorgeous plum color.

"Excuse me, Ella? We need you to set in 5..." A producer interjected.

"I'll be there." I smiled at the man in the headset.

"Who are you interviewing?" Sasha asked, her gaze still set one my bump, "Not sure yet, I guess I'm about to find out."

I walked down the crooked corridor smiling. I don't know if its the pregnancy hormones or what, but I've never felt so many emotions all at one time. I was feeling so happy, so content with my choice to come back to work and see all of these incredible people. Despite the smile on my face, my mind never let me forget that somewhere in this building, the father of my child is waiting--ignorant of my presence here.

I approached the set and saw Dean, waiting to be interviewed. I exhaled, "Okay Ella. You got this. You can do this." I mumbled under my breath.

I walked over to Dean and tapped him on the shoulder. The look on this lunatics face was priceless. "Ella! How've you been, Darlin'?"

He opened his arms wide, ready to scoop me into a signature Dean bear-hug when he froze in his tracks. His eyes landed on my stomach, and slowly drifted back to my face.

"Wow, um...I mean listen, if you wanted a snack we have catering for that, ya didn't need to smuggle a watermelon under your dress." He smiled, his dimples showing.

I hugged him softly, "I've missed you, Dean-o."

"I missed you too, Els. Looks like you've been pretty busy hmm?"

I nodded, "Surprise..."

He kissed the top of my head, as he often did when he was trying to comfort me. "Congratulations, Els. You're gonna be one hell of a Mom. That kid--it's never gonna feel unloved, that's for sure."

The producers moved us into position, "So, Els...who's the lucky guy?"

"Ready in 10, folks!" A voice yelled from behind the camera.

I cleared my throat and held the my mic up ready for the cue. "Well uh, funny that you mention that." I whispered with a nervous smile.

"7, 6,5--"

I leaned closer to Dean to whisper so no one around us would hear, "It's...it's Seth...he's the father. He doesn't know yet." Dean's eyes widened but the countdown from the producer shook him from his frozen glare.

"3, 2, 1" Headset guy pointed at me, as the light above the camera went on.

"Hello, WWE Universe, Ella De Luca here with a one-on-one interview, with the one and only, Dean Ambrose."

Dean walked into frame, "Good to have you back, Ella." Dean said with a wink as he punched his hands together.

"It's good to be back, Dean. But onto the business at hand. Later on tonight, you will be going one on one with The Miz in a good ole fashioned Falls Count Anywhere match. How are you preparing for what's to come later tonight?"

Dean paused before he spoke, "Well that's just it, isn't it Ella? You can never prepare for something like this. But you know what? A real man doesn't run from his problems. A real man turns his problems into opportunities, and a REAL MAN, doesn't bail when things get tough--he gets tougher."

With that Dean walked off camera, leaving me gazing after him.

The light on the camera turned off, and the man spoke, "And we're out! Thanks guys."

I ran after Dean, "Thank you for that..." my eyes locked on my fidgeting fingers.

"Not gonna lie, it's taking a lot for me not to find him and punch him in the mouth."

"Dean, please do--" Dean was one of my closest male friends here, so he knew what happened between Seth and I those months back. ...He hasn't really liked him since then.

He put his hand up, "Don't worry Els, this is your business. But if anything goes wrong, you know where to find me."

I nodded. "I'll catch ya later, Kid. Gotta go prep for the ring." He rubbed my back before disappearing down the hallway.

I quickly ran to the dressing rooms to change into my comfy clothes. I pulled on my black leggings and my baggy gray WWE hoodie and slipped into my fuzzy Bearpaw side-ons.

I contently sighed, "Thank God, now my feet can breathe."

My phone was buzzing with texts from my friends on Smackdown, all of whom were so surprised to see me back on TV, and so happy to see I was doing well. Thank God the camera didn't pan down to show too much of the bump.

I was on Twitter replying to all the fans that were freaking out about my return. So many of them were confused as to why I wasn't in the ring, but I tried my best to ignore those.

Suddenly I heard a crash that sounded louder than a car wreck, I stood at then end of the hall, frozen, feeling the blood rush from my face, and panic rising in my chest.

...Seth. He was dressed in his ring gear, and he was right in HHH's face, screaming at him. "How could no one fucking tell me, Hunter!?"

"Seth, take a walk and calm down." Hunter said firmly. I have never seen Seth this irate. He slammed the door against the wall so hard it nearly flew off it's hinges. Everyone in the hallway either scattered, or moved as far away as they could.

He ran his hands though his soaking wet hair, "Are you fucking joking? No one is telling me anything and it's bullshit, Hunter! She's back and I have to find out by hearing her voice on the God damn monitor?!"

No one, and I mean, no one in their right mind would ever speak to HHH like that, not if they valued their job. Seth clearly was not in his right mind though.

"Rollins this is your last warning. Take a walk...now."

Seth shook out his nerves through his hands. "This is bullshit and you know it. I wanna see her Hunter." He spoke slightly calmer now.

"That's not up to me, Seth. I'm sorry you had to find out this way, I really am."

My heart was racing, and my legs trembled beneath me. I was shaking but somehow, I was still frozen. I didn't know what to do.

He wasn't calming down, Seth's whole body was turning red, so I did the only thing I could think to do.

"Seth!" I called, quickly clasping my hands over my mouth.

Seth turned around, and his mouth fell open. Hunter sighed visibly, his hands on his hips.

"Ella..." Seth breathed, his face softening and his body relaxing.

Oh boy, I thought to myself, as I made my way down the hallway, Here we go.

WARNING FOR LONG POST!

I really want Tucker to be friends with Thel'Vadam and Rtas'Vadum.

But I think it’d be really fun if Thel saw the Project Freelancer Faux-Spartan armor as a hereditary thing. My headcannon is that Sangheili design their armor after their clan or family and blue team unwittingly followed this tradition when making Junior’s armor with Tucker (and Doc’s) paint/scrap so as far as the Arbiter knows Tucker is the immediate family of a spartan or a spartan-in-training and has continued the family-armor-aesthetic with his own sangheili son.

Anyway, Thel knows that Spartans are rare and few in number so Tucker must be part of this prized warrior pedigree if he’s wearing the unmistakably Spartan armor, right? But who’s kin could he be? Those that Thel knows are either old or part of the newer generations, but in the Sangheili tradition armor color is important to denote bloodlines with more respected family members in darker, richer colors and younger ones in lighter, brighter colors. Tucker is bright as fuck blue-ish green! And he’s in solid color, no accents or anything so maybe Tucker’s only interested in claiming relation to his green family. Who is the only Spartan who wears dark green armor without accents? Who is old enough to possibly be an uncle if not his father?

Master Chief. John-117. SIERRA MIST OF DEATH HIMSELF. And Thel has stated in canon that Chief is his friend and ally. So when Tucker shows up on Sangheilios to be an ambassador and learn about his son’s people Thel just speculates that this Little Spartan (Tucker’s 5'10" in my headcannon which is short for a Spartan as Chief is canonically 6'7"-6'8" out of armor) is related to his friend in some way and should be treated well. But he mentions it in passing to Rtas'Vadum and maybe some others and it turns out the Sangheili are lousy gossips! If it isn’t classified it’s fair game.

And then Tucker’s being avoided/catered to because Old Ones help them if the Demon finds out his kin has been mistreated while visiting their planet. Peace with the humans is a fragile thing!

Tucker didn’t even want to be an ambassador! He just wanted to learn the language and culture for his son because he’s trying to be a good dad. The rumor took off though, and now the Demon’s kin is here- Little Demon and Little Demon the Second Coming of Lavernius! And then the warriors all want Junior to like their clans so when he’s older he petitions for membership because who DOESN’T want the infamous Demon’s bloodline to merge with theirs?! So Junior gets an army of friends his age as the adults push their offspring into potentially beneficial bonds but its okay because the kids are actually nice and Junior’s cool and his dad’s sword is cool and he knows the Arbiter and Rtas and the Swords of Sangheilios and he’s got the best stories about silly warrior humans.

When the UNSC gets word, oh hey we can totally use this to better interspecies relations! Wham bam thank you Ambassador Tucker. Which only adds to the problem as he has Rank and Title so if he is the Demon’s kin well now he’s coming into his own! The human Master Chief and the Arbiter are friends so of course the Demon would entrust his family with securing the peace.

Thel learns the truth from Tucker who is tired of this wishy-washy too-in-my-face and then not-helping-me-at-all behavior the sangheili keep switching between due to respect and fear for a man who Tucker doesn’t know and isn’t even related to. But it’s gotten out of hand so they need Tucker to just go with it.

As an apology, Thel helps him learn the language and how to use his key-sword while teaching him the history about the ancient Sangheili. Rtas shows up one day while they’re training and no Arbiter the bet way to kill a Brute in tight quarters is like THIS- and soon enough the Swords of Sangeilios, warriors hand-picked by the Arbiter, are putting Tucker through his paces. BAMF!Competent!Tucker is best Tucker.

Then they learn that the Covenant is investigating a temple in the desert supposedly built by the ancients which means Tucker’s sword can probably access it so then send him and a mixed squad of humans and sangheili. They die getting Tucker into the Temple to protect it and he manages to call the nearest Red base where Donut is so he joins him and later goes looking for help and we all know the rest.

On the Hand of Merope Tucker calls Rtas to catch him up but also inform the sangheili embassy of his impending arrival but holy shit the ship crashed. Later on Chorus, Rtas personally comes looking for Tucker only to find out his mentee/annoying friend has been stabbed and betrayed but uncovered a conspiracy and who else but the Demon’s kin would be put through such a trial (maybe he knows the truth but still likes to tease Tucker about it) and come out alive. Tucker regains consciousness enough to ask for the Sword’s help in liberating Chorus and of course the sangheili leap at the opportunity.The beam that’s been pulling down ships doesn’t target sangheili-built ships so Rtas and his men bypass it repeatedly in order to bring in troops and weapons and food. Damn this’ll look good for interspecies relations! and they’ll reclaim ancient sangheili ruins as well so win-win. Rtas struggles to speak english due to his severed mandibles so Tucker’s practically glued to his side translating sangheili like a pro. But then the warriors see that Tucker’s got a bunch of adolescent humans wearing his color on their armor so the Little Demon has been protecting the clan younglings and thats why he not yet returned! And of course this means that Tucker’s team must all be related to the Demon too, and more sangheili come and eventually there’s so many that individual members of Tucker’s “family” have eight foot tall alien guards following them around (mostly protecting them from Jensen’s driving). If Palomo thought Tucker was cool before you need a new word for the kind of admiration he feels for the captain now.

Carolina doesn’t like the Elites and certainly doesn’t trust them but haha, the only adult human female in Tucker’s colors must be his mate or kin and they say that she has nothing to worry about they’ll protect her hatchlings with their lives and they mean it to appease her but it just makes her angry and she chases Tucker down because she thinks he’s spreading rumors about them being together. He’s not because he likes his blood to stay inside of his body and has to spend a whole week explaining sangheili armor color family relations. She doesn’t end up hating it all that much because being mistaken for Tucker’s family/wife means that the sangheili obey her commands second only to Rtas, like Tucker. She does hate being called ‘brood-mother’ and the constant updates on the state of her and Tucker’s “hatchlings”- and does she approve of Palomo’s intended female from the red clans?- but the sangheili presence means that the army is running like a proper military outfit so she tolerates it. (she does like that the closest english translation of “brood-mother” is “Matriarch” so the english speaking aliens call her Matriarch Carolina). Epsilon fears she will go mad with power. The sangheili think Tucker has good instincts choosing the strongest, smartest, deadliest female for his mate and by the Old Ones she must be fertile for Tucker’s brood is plentiful and strong. And if the younglings are weak it is only because Matriarch Carolina is so strong her offspring can afford to be weak. What a luxury. And if they try to sell her up to Kimball because they can smell the mutual interest and think she’s just nervous and needs the help- which she doesnt but okay- then they are more than happy in securing the Demon clan another powerful female.

With the sangheili there in force, the army finds the second key-sword which is supposed to go to Wash because he has knife/blade experience but Palomo grabs it on accident and oh it must be a sign that the best of Tucker’s brood is a holder of the key! Rtas laughs in Tucker’s face. But this gets some of them to try and wing-man Palomo to Jensen because he’s Meant for Greatness and aaaahhhhhh its adorable. Eight foot saurian aliens delivering flowers (and fresh-meat) to Red Team Patriarch Colonel Sarge (its difficult to tell the different red shades apart and Simmons isn’t exactly authoritive) for Jensen, and listening to Palomo’s bad poetry and giving advice like you should emphasize her strong legs and uniquely dappled skin and her metal fangs! (she’s faster than him, freckles, and braces respectively). They especially like her metal fangs- maybe their hatchlings will get them!

The army chases Charon forces off planet and we get the epic sword fight between Tucker and Felix that we deserved, and the Swords of Sangheilios put the fear of god in Locus for daring challenge Matriarch Carolina. When Hargrove arrives the Swords and RedsandBlues fight his Mantis mechs and storm the Staff of Charon and Tucker doesn’t need a fancy suit in order to be awesome. They arrest him and finally lay ALL of Project Freelancer’s loose ends to rest.

Tucker takes Blue Team and Palomo to sangheilios and reunites with Junior and Junior tells him about teaching his friends how to play basketball and is it true you’re a hero dad? and its great.

BAMF!Competent!GoodDad!Tucker for the all the money.

Aranea threw her hands up in the air, absolutely livid. Meenah had really done it this time.

“I cannot 8elieve you! I had set everything up in my hive to cele8r8 the two sweep anniversary of our entrance into this wretched game, just to cheer every8ody up, and you had to go and ruin everything with a tantrum! What do you have to say for yourself?!?”

Meenah rolled her eyes, clearly still agitated. Her fork was still embedded in a nearby table which had held whatever stupid refreshments Aranea had prepared.

Aranea practically boiled over at Meenah’s flippant attitude, blushing blue at the princess’s total lack of care for anything. Something you have to be done.

She pointed an angry finger at Meenah. “If you don’t apologize to me and start cleaning up right now, I swear I’ll M8KE you shape up for good!”

Meenah snorted, before pulling out her 2x3dent from the table and twirling it with a flourish. She seemed to have no interest in doing anything else.

“Oh, I can 8ack it just fine, alright. I gave you your chance, now you’re going to get an intimate understanding of how my way works!”

With that, Aranea drew upon all of her inner reserves, blood crackling with the energy she knew she’d need, then reached out with her mind to ensnare Meenah’s, pushing her will into the fuchsia-blood’s head, hoping to overwhelm her completely and force her to stand at attention.

The unfamiliar sensation of her mind being inflitrated overwhelemed Meenah. With a scream, she reeled back and clutched her head, trying to fight against the invading force.

Aranea took a step forward, her teeth gleaming with a wicked grin. She pressed her fingers to her forehead to focus and apply more mental pressure to the reeling Meenah.

“Don’t worry a8out it, dearie. You’ll understand soon enough. Now stay STILL.”

She let out a frustrated, agonizing scream, before she finally began to succumb, as if the final push had worn her out. Soon enough, she grew still, her struggling coming to a rest, as her mind still attempted to break free and resist, to no avail.

Aranea breathed out a sigh of relief, although she made sure to maintain her control. That was a little tougher than she’d thought it would be, but hey, can’t argue with results.

She walked up to Meenah, who was standing at the ready, waiting for a command. Aranea giggled as she grabbed one of Meenah’s horns, and forced her head to bob up and down.

“Look at you! Never thought you’d 8e so quiet! Although I’m sure if I could hear whatever you’re thinking in there, it would 8e a different story. 8ut that will change soon enough.”

Indeed, if she could she’d likely hear Meenah’s irritation, anger, and even a twinge of fear. But for now, completely under Aranea’s control, she simply stared blankly out into space, doing nothing to resist Aranea’s motions. Her mind was completely Aranea’s to manipul8.

“Well, no time like the present to get to work, I suppose. Let’s start with something simple, shall we?”

Aranea took Meenah’s arms, the lanky, bony things they were, and held them out. Meenah, of course, did nothing to resist. Aranea’s hands glowed with an ethereal energy as they washed over Meenah’s arms, stroking them and pulling them, seemingly shaping them into different forms. Gradually, Meenah’s arms began to plump out, expanding suddenly in Aranea’s hands.

Unable to move, Meenah could only really watch as Aranea did… well, whatever it was she was doing to do. A wave of panic and renewed struggling accompanied the sudden shaping of her arms. She tried to pull away, to no real avail. A few grunts managed to escape her mouth as she attempted to protest. Her body, however, remained still, and like clay in Aranea’s hands.

Aranea bent down, rubbing her hands along Meenah’s legs, performing the same motions as she had on her arms. Just as before, Meenah’s skinny calves and thighs thickened outwards as Aranea caressed them, as well as lowering Meenah’s height ever so slightly. Aranea shook her head at the sound of the grunts.

“You must really want to tell me something! Well, if you insist, I suppose I can let you speak.”

Aranea wiggled her fingers, and her mental control over Meenah ebbed, but only slightly.

Indeed, once the mental control had let up, Meenah took full opportunity to speak.

Aranea clicked her tongue and shook a disapproving finger.

“Goodness, what a mouth you’ve got. You can say good8ye to that kind of language once I’m done with you.”

Taking the opportunity for a little fun, Aranea moved to cup Meenah’s tiny tits in her hands, groping them and squeezing them, with Meenah helpless before her.

She tried to shake her head, to no avail. The impulse to swear had been strangely suppressed. As if it weren’t refined. Beneath her. Not a way she had ever felt before, especially not when angry. But then, she found her anger ebbing ever so slightly, as well. Very odd.

“Yes, I pro8a8ly should. Work 8efore pleasure, as they say.”

With one final squeeze, Meenah’s boobs expanded as well, pushing tightly against her t-shirt, which wasn’t used to the stress. Aranea moved onto Meenah’s stomach, probing, pinching and pressing until it expanded outwards a bit, not entirely dissimilar to Aranea’s own.

“Tell me, Meenah. How does this all feel? I’ve never had a chance to ask someone as it happened.”

The significance of these changes and who they matched up to wasn’t entirely lost on Meenah. She sneered.

“oh my god dont tell me youve done this before. was it always into different spins on you or is your ego just joyridin today?”

She couldn’t help but feel something was off about her. Her mind, her tone, it didn’t feel like her. Yet it also felt… Strangely right.

Aranea giggled again as she walked around the still motionless Meenah, and placed both hands on her firm butt.

“You might 8e surprised how effective you can make the world work when you have people you know you can rely on. And who can I rely on most 8ut me?”

With a squeeze and a thorough rubdown, Meenah’s rear inflated outward as well. Aranea admired the view before giving what was effectively her own ass a slap.

“i mean, i GU——ESS. not like you’re not still insane though. not like this whole T)(ING isn’t still insane. not to mention you’re ruining my figure. liked it just the way it was.”

With a few grumbles, she subsequently fell silent. Well, at least she wasn’t too unattractive now, she thought. She had never noticed it before, but Aranea wasn’t half bad looking. Not that she’d admit it right now. And not that she’d admit that she took the tiniest hint of satisfaction from that ass slap. No sir.

Aranea gathered Meenah’s braids and pushed them into her pixie cut, and with another glow, merged them into a style exactly like her own.

All that remained was Meenah’s face. And her horns as well, but Aranea decided she’d keep those as they were, as a momento.

Cupping Meenah’s cheeks with her hands, Aranea gave her a wry smile.

“Does ‘Meenah’ have any last words before she 8egins her new life?”

Up her hair went into Aranea’s typical haircut. And well, Meenah found herself caring less and less. Even the terror she felt at that realization was lessening. Part of her was even eager to see this to completion.

“Oh, you know, something something huge jerk. I honestly can’t be bothered to get into a tizzy anymore.”

She blinked, a bit shocked at her own cadence.

“Uh, I mean… Oh, screw it. You know what I mean.”

Aranea chuckled. “Oh, I know what you mean only too well.”

With that, she kissed Meenah on the lips, infusing the last bit of change necessary to finish the transformation. By the time she drew away from the kiss, she saw her own face looking back at her.

Taking a step back, she admired her work. But for the horns and the clothes, Aranea was practically looking into a mirror. With a snap of her fingers, she promptly released her hold on the person in front of her.

Being released, 'Meenah’ stumbled about, getting used to movement again. She put a hand to her face and stroked it, getting a feel for the change in structure. Despite herself, however, she just… Couldn’t feel upset about it, really. If anything, it only seemed natural. Good, even. A small smile came to her new lips.

“There we are then. I suppose that’s Meenah taken care of. You’ve really outdone yourself this time, Aranea. As much as I took um8rage to this 8efore, this really is an improvement, I must say. And the retention of her horns? Very nice touch. Now perhaps I ought to look into a new wardro8e. Meenah’s ill-fitting gar8 won’t do at all.”

Aranea clasped her hands together with excitement.

“Oh, I knew you’d think it was a good idea eventually. And don’t fret over the clothes, I’ve got plenty more refined outfits for you to wear from now on. For now, though, we’d 8est clean up the horri8le mess that Meenah made. I’m sure 8etween the two of us we can get things 8ack in order in no time at all.”

“Oh, most certainly! I should apologize on her 8ehalf, though I suppose I’m not truly her anymore, am I? Speaking of which, we really DO need to figure out how to distinguish 8etween one another. Or perhaps not? We are two of a kind, after all.”

With a chuckle, they both began to work on cleaning things up. For the two Araneas, the future seemed to be bright.

Tonight has been.. a thought provoking experience. Speaking with a (new & different) psychic aside, I was able to gain new perspectives on my relationships and what I want in life. I went to the bar with a good friend of mine, one of my best friends honestly (but she works so damn much and is so introverted that she rarely goes out for group events) and she was flirting with a guy that she has been “friends” with for quite sometime. The thing is, she has a boyfriend (a really awful violent one at that) and this other guy is SUCH a sweetheart. Really husband material. While we were at the bar, 2 guys approach us with the absolute WORST pick-up lines ever. One said to me: “even if there were no gravity, I’d still fall for you!” And I’m just thinking “oh my god, this poor guy”. Eventually i feel inclined to tell him that I actually have a boyfriend and then he is just like,”oh shit.” And then he asks me to help him with his girl problems. He asks me how to keep a girl interested, so I tell him to show the girl attention, text her “goodmorning” every day. He refuses lol! He said he wants to take her on a sushi date. Good idea, I think. Then he tells me he wants to get her so drunk on Saki that she is “dumb enough to fuck him”, his words! Omg and then he ran away like a bitch when he realized what he said!! Lol wtf?! So we go to the club and there’s like a million more dicks pressed against me and a million more bad pick-up lines. And after we leave the club my friend texts her EX-boyfriend! (Yes, the same friend that has a current boyfriend!) to smoke. And her ex is such a sweet guy that he picks us up and he gave me a ride home (completely out of the way) and I’m just thinking, she cheats on all her boyfriends!!! These boys don’t deserve this lol. And I realized that all these nice guys she has remind me of DYLAN! My boyfriend! He is honestly so kind, selfless, and giving. He always puts me and what I want before anything else and now i just feel... idk, selfish? I am a person that constantly tries to be the best I can be, but I still cant help but feel like I allow him to cater to me too much. That is why it is my new years resolution (starting now!!! Why wait?) to be a better girlfriend, because how can i deserve to feel as happy as I do that i have a boyfriend that doesnt trick girls into getting so “dumb they will fuck him” and always drive me around, and buy me dinner, and watch the movies I want to watch, and take me to the concerts I want to see, if I can’t reciprocate? And he keeps talkings to me about serious fucking things! We have been together since high school and I am graduating college within a week, so we really have grown together, in so many ways. And now I’m realizing that there is no one else I want to be with, and i just want to be the best for him, you know? Seeing all these other stupid boys (lol) and artificial relationships really puts it into perspective for me, and I really do appreciate what I have.

I have just returned from 2 months being away and was very much surprised to read letters from tesco insurance about being unable to take money from my account for the annual renewal of my policy and therefore cancelling it. I talked to my bank and they said that there were not attempts to take money from my account by tesco. While tesco says that my card has been refused. I asked tesco if they could reinstate my policy due to some fault with the payment, which does not seem to be my bank they say that cancelled policy cannot be reinstated and suggest to pay 230 for the period that they were trying to collect and open a much more expensive new policy. They also told me that I face penalty because my car is uninsured now. I would like to reinstate the policy as cancelled unfairly and at the same time I need to insure my car quickly to avoid facing penalty. I wanted to maintain Tesco policy in case they reinstate it, as i will not have cancelled policy on my records and will not have to pay extra for the month, they have been cancelling my account, i also have 2 years no claim with them, provided another insurance, whose car slightly dammaged my front door, while i was parked at a petrol station, pays them. This insurance admitted that it was their fault, but have not finished paying Tesco. This is another reason, tesco could do me even cheaper insurance, once the responsible party pays in full. hi guys my hubby had a motorcycle accident and he went to the ER, he got a cat scan and x-ray and it came out to be $750. he has no health insurance so he gave them hes name but misspelled like 2 letters in hes first name and 2 letters in hes last name.. they never took down hes drivers licence or ask for hes social number... only thing they have on file correct is hes birthday. even the address is all right but the apt number instead of 7 he put 8, we wanted to know can they actually send him to collection still? like will they be able to still find him even though they don't have drivers licence number or social? and if they can find him will it affect hes credit score if he can't pay.. we are students and are struggling real bad :( so any help from you guys we would really appreciate it we live in California. thanks guys!""
