Over time she took the words as her stage name, becoming “Halfshine”. She eventually  earned renown as a lounge singer, her siren song soothing the troubled souls of privateers and sea merchants alike - until it  caught the ear of one particular member of the Inquest.

I don’t feel like tracking it down but that one “project sekai characters I can beat in a fight” by a popular pjsk youtuber made me sooo angry like I know he did not read any of the stories. Specifically pissed that he put emu “on several spots teams” “canonically scaled a two story building” “had the body strength to climb up to the ceiling and just hang out there” “power scales with looney toons logic” ootori in the easy win category. She would kick your ass be so serious. Wouldn’t even be difficult for her. Hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby.

Modern Feylin au where Feyre is a competitive archer and Tamlin is a fencer and they end up going to rival colleges and they connect because they both got scholarships for their respective sports but their real passion is art. Feyres painting and Tamlins poetry/creative writing. They become eachothers muses but because of the silly school rivalry their friends are like NO so chaos and its not serious at all.

Giving your OCs scars is actually so fun and fleshes them out so well. I've seen so much writing and character design "advice" that, in an unfortunate attempt to discourage edginess*, tells you most people don't have many scars, but the truth is, they often do- and you (and they) just may not notice at first glance.

This character used to be really reckless as a teenager and wiped out on their skateboard trying to do a trick or ride down too steep a hill, getting a deep scrape. This character has shaky hands and once cut their thumb chopping fruit. This character slipped and fell on an icy sidewalk going to class and scraped up their hands catching themself. This character was a bored teenager who thought it would be funny to shoot something that wasn't an arrow from their archery bow and lost a chunk of skin where it got snagged when they let their not-arrow fly. This character had a minor laparoscopic procedure. This character tried and failed to slide down the firefighter pole on the playground and put their teeth through their lip. This character was really intense about their favourite sport or game and got a giant scrape/cut making a glorious play to win the match. This character just kept picking at that acne spot over and over.

There are so many mundane ways one can get scars, and they tell such interesting stories about one's life. This is not to say that scars from life-changing incidents are all that rare or edgy: I know plenty of folks with those, too. But almost everyone has some little scars- and when you're writing, it can be fun to think about little, almost insignificant details like these that add depth to your characters.

* - friendly reminder to do whatever you want forever with your characters. Edginess is the coward's invention and you should free yourself from its restrictive bonds.

So their is so sO SO much wrong with the Lightning thief movie But I think my two favorite things that don't make sense are

1) apparently Percy's name is just 'Percy' because he needed help to name a third demigod and he had to look at the Greek to get the name 'Perseus'

2) for some reason their are Thirteen thrones on Olympus. It's goes (right to left) Dionysus, Hephaestus, Hera (a decision to put her here of all places), Hermes, Aphrodite, Poseidon, Zeus (at the head), Athena, Ares, Demeter, Apollo, Artemis, EMPTY THRONE! Why 13? For Hestia? But she doesn't have a throne she gave it up. For Hades? He also doesn't have one on Olympus!
