Alright. So Endless Ocean Luminous has been out for… a day. Or so. Location dependent (midnight releases). Now, I’ve played some of it and I have some thoughts I’ll share here. And I’ll also include some other opinions the Endless Ocean fan base has as they are worth considering.
Yes this means spoilers ahead. And no spoiling for me as I haven’t gotten too too far in the story
So. First and foremost, the game does have a menu! However upon the first opening that is not what happens. It just dumps you into the story mission 1-1 to acquaint you with swimming (left joystick), camera movement (right joystick), and scanning (left bumper). Now, previous installments (EO1/2) we had someone guiding us. Those people being Katherine Sunday (1) and Oceanne Louvier (2, Rouvier if you weren’t NA). In Luminous we have Sera. Sera is an AI and the name is an acronym (off the top of my head I think it’s “Sea Exploration Research Assistant”). Not as witty, not as much personality. We scan a humphead wrasse and “light” jumps off it. We’ll get back to that later (4 missions later).
Before I forget, we are a new and very prospective member of the Aegis Research Team/Group/whatever they are.
1-2 is where we meet Yggdrasil- I mean the World Coral. Vibrant ecosystem of coral and fish in a small canyon cave. Looks like a tree. Apparently it’s dying from necrosis and your organization is trying to help Ygdr- the World Coral not die. We’re asked if we’re ready to help (our choices are “Yeah!” and “Uh… Sure”). We leave the cave and the screen shakes. A lot. This massive (golden) blue coelacanth passes by and we are told to leave because it’s mad for some reason which means it’s too dangerous.
1-3 a quick side note, brief Blue World notice. There was a character named GG (Gaston Grey). GG was a treasure hunter, only in it for the treasure that the Okeanides (mysterious people that were really connected to the sea) left behind. Bit of a scaredy cat (see Cortica River segment). What does this have to do with Luminous though? A lot actually. We meet Daniel, a senior diver with the foundation. He’s a treasure hunter and only in it for the treasure the Oannes (mysterious people that were really connected to the sea) left behind. He challenges you to salvage more/better stuff than him. You smoke him and then you find a “cutting board”. Sorry, a “chess board”. That has squares 11 across 9 deep. Sorry, it’s a “Mystery Board”. Each square represents one mystery of the sea we operate in. Sera says this is preposterous and unlikely. Aegis decides to investigate it more.
1-4 We’re back with Daniel! He’s still a little hurt at our success considering what we found. An actual Oannes artifact (mystery board). Apparently the squares glow when we solve a mystery! Sera says this is preposterous (note that the mystery tablet is glowing as she says this). Nothing else memorable happens.
1-5 We’re back! And someone is joining us! Oh, just Daniel (he swears he was just nearby and passing through the area). We do a bit of swimming and scan a giant sunfish. Gold Blue coelacanth shows up again and things start shaking. Daniel runs swims away like a chicken (yes he admits it himself!) and we decide to scan this gold blue coelacanth. Soon as we scan it all the “light” jumps off of it and it’s revealed to be a golden coelacanth. Apparently it’s a UML (Unidentified Marine Life) that is quickly dubbed something (Raja something…). HQ is on top of naming things at least! That light though. It’s not light per se. It’s a bacteria specific to the sea we work in that covers essentially everything and pacifies them. When we scan them with our scanner, we scare them off and they jump into our pockets. (I’m not kidding…). Also according to HQ this is helping the Ygdr- sorry, World Coral heal so we just need more light! Yay! Easy solution!
Gonna break from story for a bit to mention something. That’s the ENTIRETY of Chapter 1. Now it wasn’t “do chapter 1 now do chapter 2”. It was “do chapter 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, do a solo dive, do 1-4, solo dive, 1-5, dive, 2-1 repeat”. So now I’ll talk about solo dives. (Yes shared dives are a thing but I didn’t activate my free week yet, that’s happening later).
Solo doves. This is essentially the core of Endless Ocean. Diving, discovering locations and creatures and learning about them. Now, Luminous has an interesting way of doing this. In Endless Ocean the map was A-M, 1-8 (really C8-M1) with some sub areas (Ship’s Rest, Moia Atoll, Abyss). Endless Ocean Blue World had zones, some large, some small, some had small sub zones (Gamma Atoll had Deep Hole and the Private Reef, Cicero’s Strait had Valka Castle, Zahhab Region had Abyss and Cavern of the Gods, and such). Luminous now, will randomly generate a 16 digit Dive Site ID that is a 10x10. (0-9, A-J). You can continue diving in the same site until you choose to get a new one. Let’s say this now. 10x10 is huge. 2 hours of swimming (admittedly in circles a bit) and I discovered half a map and half the creatures on the map. So the maps are MASSIVE. And you get a lot of light from scanning everything (every single school gives light PER creature in the school, not just one, and some larger creatures give multiple light).
Next thing, zoom spots. Endless Ocean did this well. Your diving zone of choice had certain fish that lived there (fish that lived in Rock Bluff weren’t necessarily near Coral Forest). And there were tiny fish that lived in zoom spots (not static, they always moved and you had to find them). Some zooms would have one critter (looking at you Moorish Idol), others would have several (slugs, Moorish Idol, Stark’s Demoiselle and other combinations). Endless Ocean 2 had static zooms and they weren’t as hard to find if you dove with Oceanne, but again you’d find the smaller fish (slugs, moorish idol, Stark’s demoiselle, and other combinations). Luminous doesn’t HAVE zoom spots. These tiny creatures are just out there with the large creatures (example being the Whale Shark I saw swimming over the Red Spotted Blenny).
Onto Legendaries. Endless Ocean only had two that were named. Those two being Maga Tapa, a ferocious looking Great White with a ton of scars, and the Ancient Mother (a type of Albino Blue Whale with slightly different DNA meaning it’s a different species). The Ancient Mother was unlocked by finishing the story. Maga Tapa though, was more difficult. You had to find a shark tooth necklace through the salvage system (I’ll get into it more in the next section), unlock 80% of the map (or however much was required to get an email about a ghost ship), find the ghost ship to enter Ship’s Rest at NIGHT to unlock him. Now, you notice I said two that were named. The Beluga Whale and Orca also were difficult to unlock but weren’t named. Beluga required finding another salvage item and going to Moia Atoll and finding it in a room. The Orca required finding 100% of the map (or however much it took to get an email about the Jewels of Life), finding them in Moia Atoll through the salvage system, and then entire ring Ship’s Rest during the DAY.
Legendaries for Blue Workd worked differently. They were quest related usually. (The dog found a small island turns out to be a turtle, large shadow in Cicero’s Strait is a plesiosaur, healing a large penguin, finding a log is actually a formerly extinct crocodile, etc.) but some are just there (black humpback whale is a moon cycle thing, large sperm whale is in Zahhab, off the cliff side). There’s a LOT here, but one main one is Thanatos, a large ferocious Great White with scars and an attitude problem and is the embodiment of evil basically. (Yes he’s Maga Tapa but actually capable of harming the player because BW had an aggression system).
Luminous Legendaries. A lot of these legendaries from Blue World (which does include the Orca and most likely the Ancient Mother) appear to have made it into Luminous! This is fabulous if you never met them originally. I’ve met Apollo (sunfish), Phantom (Ray), and Emperor (coelacanth). You might be wondering about that UML, I’ll get there don’t worry. However, I’ve also found Thanatos. There’s no aggression system so he’s just chilling. They’re rather easy to find this time. They have “yellow light” which is used to indicate a rare/large/small/legendary creature. There’s a lot of rare creatures (example, red bicolor parrotfish). Now, this is nice though I do find it a little concerning that every square seems to have a rare creature. A minor complaint in the grand scheme really.
You’ve seen me talk salvage, so how’s the time to do that. EO’s salvage system was abysmal. You had to either search specific quadrants/squares to find the piece you were looking for (fixed salvage), or open every zoom spot on every surface (walls, floor, ceiling, etc.) for a CHANCE of finding salvage (rotating) and hope it’s not a duplicate. Blue World improved this a bit. Some salvage (coins… just a hundred coins) we’re in zoom spots and they were all fixed. Now, other salvage, had to be found with a tool (sensor) and then appraised so you knew what you had found. Tedious but better as you could guess what you had grabbed (wood, metal, stone, dense, none/all/some of those). Luminous… doesn’t have zoom spots or a sensor. So how does it work? There’s a dot in the top left that might flash yellow. If it’s yellow, treasure is near. Pick it up and it’s added to collections. Nice but duplicates do happen. Now, there are also treasure chests (that contain a variety of things) and tablets. Both contribute to the mystery board. There’s also some large stone circles on the ground that require a creature companion to do a thing but I haven’t figured them out/had the capacity to do it (Apollo requires 150 capacity but I have 70 capacity now at rank 26).
UMLS, our Unidentified Marine Lifeforms! They don’t just appear. You need to find anomalous fish/creatures to lure it out. (Seems to be 7). Your cursor (middle of the screen will pulse red if it’s near and pulse rapidly if you’re on the creature in question). Then the UML is lured out. These UMLS are quite something. They’re like a new legendary with an annoying salvage system (finding the last one can be a pain as the area gets smaller every time)
Personal opinion from my experience so far then? I’m loving it. I think it’s great and while it could do with a LITTLE polishing, it’s still great and what I was expecting from trailers and such.
The community is not all as thrilled as I am. Some say that it’s too fast with discovering creatures (half the encyclopedia in 2ish hours). That we should have a “home base”. That the Aquarium should exist. That Daniel is just discount GG and that Sera is too bland. Others see this as more of a test run to see if people will play a franchise that’s 15 years old and that if another one releases it will be considerably more polished and have more features.
Lengthy post. I am well aware of it but if you’re here, you reached the end! I still think it’s a fabulous game and am going to play it a LOT.

warnings: Siren hunt (aka, luring people into the water to take their souls so some people die though it isn’t really described), Jun threatening (Y/n), talking about someone’s existence being erased, sort of mentioning suicide (sacrificing oneself for others, though no suicide happens), Jun being crazy powerful, being on a boat, a storm, being out on the ocean, being underwater, possessive behavior, jealousy, biting, pet names (mostly darling), kidnapping, Stockholm-syndrome in a way, let me know if I should add anything else,
Pairing: Siren! King of the seven seas! Wen Junhui x afab! human reader
summary: After being attacked by mythical creatures of the sea, known as Sirens, one unfortunate human girl has caught the eye of the siren king. At first, it seems like death had been the better option, but maybe one shouldn’t be so quick at judging.
Please reblog! Requests are open!

Third person POV
“Guys, I really don’t think this is a good idea. The weather forecast said that a bad storm is going to break out in a few hours, maybe we should do this some other day,” “Oh come on, (Y/n), stop being such a scaredy cat. It’s fine, look, there’s not a single cloud in the sky, the forecast is wrong. This is going to be super fun!” Seungkwan was trying to persuade one of his best friends, (Y/n), that having a party on a Yacht, out on the sea, was a good idea. “Loosen up, (Y/n), nothing is going to happen. Dad’s yacht is sturdy, the captain has driven her through a storm before, so even if this storm breaks out, we’ll be fine,” Mingyu walked over and draped an arm around (Y/n)’s shoulders as a form of comfort. “Okay, but if something bad happens, just know that I was right, this was, and is, a bad idea,” And so the trio along with a bunch of other people boarded the yacht and left the pier.
As the party began, most people were happily drinking, dancing, eating, chatting, and who knows what else. But (Y/n), was just sitting on a chair with her untouched drink in front of her. She couldn’t shake off the bad feeling she had, and oh how right she was.
Deep underwater, in the lost city of the ocean creatures, the siren king, the king of the seven seas, Junhui was preparing for a hunt. His people had waited for a brutal storm to break out close to their hidden city under the surface, and finally, the storm was coming. Junhui was a powerful siren who not only held the power of his seductive siren song but also the power to rule the seven seas, from birth he had been gifted with immense power that the ocean seemed to follow, so even if Junhui had not been born into the royal family he was still crowned as the ruler once he was old enough. Junhui was a just ruler, his people admired his strength, as long as you kept on his good side Junhui would be the sweetest being in the world but make one wrong move and he would shift into the brutal siren who would destroy the world in the blink of an eye. “My lord, the storm is close. We should move out, the scouts have spotted countless boats close to us,” Jun turned toward Wonwoo, one of his officers and advisor, not to mention, one of his closest friends. “This is going to be quite the prosperous hunt, I can feel this entire body of water shaking at the rage of it,” Jun’s eyes shifted from his warm brown to their terrifying, glowing yellow, as the corners of his mouth turned up into a chilling and sinister smile, that revealed his white teeth and sharp fangs. “Let’s go, brother, it’s time to hunt,” Wonwoo gave a slight bow to his king before they both walked out of the throne room. Even though Jun had countless times told Wonwoo that he did not need to bow to him or call him ‘my lord’ or like, Wonwoo still did. Wonwoo was a man who followed all the rules, he is highly intelligent, which was one of the reasons why Jun had appointed him an officer and his first advisor. The siren king and two of his officers, Wonwoo and Soonyoung, had gathered 50 of their best hunters to go hunt for souls for the people. The sirens didn’t hunt for souls very often, at most 3 times a year, they had developed beyond needing many souls to thrive but every now and then, why not treat yourself?
Up on the yacht, the party was still going strong, most of the people there were too drunk to notice that the sun had been covered by angry dark clouds. (Y/n) was trying to find Mingyu or Seungkwan to tell them that they needed to turn the yacht around and go back to shore. As she went out on deck she felt the raindrops beginning to come down. Soon enough, the winds had picked up, the rain was coming down in sheets, making it difficult to see more than a few feet, the waves were getting bigger with every second, making it difficult for the captain to keep the yacht steady. The drunk people didn’t seem to mind it, (Y/n), however, were in a full-blown panic mood. The sound of the rain hitting the water was deafening, the occasional clap of thunder only adding to her worry, and the lightning strikes didn’t make it any better either.
“Mingyu! Seungkwan! Where are you?” (Y/n) tried to find her friends but they seemed to have disappeared. Suddenly, a particularly big wave pushed the yacht around causing (Y/n) to lose her balance and almost fall overboard, luckily she manage to grab onto the railing just in time. She looked down into the deep dark water, expecting to find nothing as the water made anything beneath the surface unintelligible, however, to her shock, she was met with the face of a person. At first, she thought it was someone who had fallen from the yacht, but she quickly realized that it was not a human, as the creature dove down into the water, (Y/n) saw that it had a tail instead of legs. She found more and more creatures popping out of the water, they were locating the different boats around the surface. Some began singing, it was a beautiful sound but (Y/n) couldn’t focus on it, no, (Y/n) was focusing on the way some people began moving closer to the edge of the boats, and then getting into the water. Once they had gone under the surface, they did not come back up. Suddenly, some of the creatures began climbing onto the yacht and other boats around them. (Y/n) was still sitting, frozen as she held onto the railing. One of the creatures had jumped onto the yacht, landing just a few steps away from her, the second that the female-looking creature had landed on the boat her tail turned to legs. She then began moving toward (Y/n), who was crying harder and harder, imagining that she would die here, on this stupid yacht. “Please, don’t, I don’t want to die. I beg of you, please don’t kill me,” The creature just looked at (Y/n), laughed, and then began singing her melody again, causing some of the drunk people on the yacht to come toward her, hypnotized by her song.
Junhui had stayed beneath the surface for some time, allowing his people to have fun. Jun did quite enjoy hunting, but his people enjoyed it far more, for some reason, he wasn’t that hungry for souls so he didn’t mind staying in the background. After a few minutes, he decided that it was time for him to join the hunt, thus also, signaling that it was ending. The second he broke through the surface of the water, he laid his eyes on a girl who was holding on to the railing of a boat, she was crying, begging for her life as one of his hunters approached. As the hunter came closer to the girl, the terrified human turned her head, and Jun met her eyes. Something in him seemed to click, suddenly he was overcome with a yearning for that girl. With a simple flick of his wrist, a large wave was created to swiftly move him up onto that boat, he landed right in front of the human, facing his hunter. The siren immediately stopped once she faced her king. “My lord,” The siren bowed, terrified of the look Jun gave her, “Leave,” Was all Jun said, though it was a low command, all sirens around them froze before beginning to dive back into the water. All 50 hunters had gone back under the surface within a minute of the king’s command, only leaving Wonwoo, Soonyoung, and Jun. Wonwoo approached Junhui but stopped the second his king glared at him, the look in Jun’s eyes was horrifying, his eyes glowed stronger than ever, his fangs protruding past his lips, the waves were crashing harsher and harsher against the yacht. Wonwoo understood that whoever the human behind the Siren King was, they were special and he nor Soonyoung were allowed to come close to them. “We’ll be leaving, my lord,” Wonwoo dove back into the water after signaling to Soonyoung that it was time to leave.
From the second that Junhui had appeared before her, (Y/n) had been mesmerized even though she could only see the creature’s backside. (Y/n) concluded that whoever this man was, he was of high status, the way everyone followed his command and not to mention, his robes. The black clothes with gold embroidered details screamed wealth and importance. Nothing could have prepared (Y/n) for the beauty of the man who had seemingly saved her. As the king turned around to face her, (Y/n)’s breath got caught in her throat, his well-sculpted face, his two-toned hair, though the detail that had her shaking was his sharp, glowing, yellow eyes that seemed to suck her in.
“Please don’t kill me,” Jun chuckled arrogantly at her begging. “Darling, if I wanted you dead, I wouldn’t have sent my hunters away,” The siren crouched down in front of (Y/n) and he reached his hand out toward her face, “Please, don’t hurt me,” (Y/n) tried to hide her face away from the mysterious and handsome man, though her attempt was futile, he grabbed a hold of her cheek and turned her face back toward his own. “Once, again. If I wanted you dead, my hunters would have dealt with you,” “Then, can I go? Will you let me live?” Jun sighed before lightly shaking his head, for some reason he was filled with an unknown rage as the human asked if she could leave. “No, you are not leaving. You will come with me. I have spared your life therefore it now belongs to me,” He spoke with a malicious tone, one he rarely used unless speaking with someone who had broken the laws in his kingdom. “No, please, please let me go, please, I beg of you,” Jun grew angrier as (Y/n) kept asking to be left behind, his unstable emotions caused the storm to worsen, the waves became harsher and bigger, the thunder and the lightning seemed to come closer. Just then, Seungkwan came out of the yacht's lower deck, still very drunk, he seemed to have missed the hunt as the mysterious creature had called it. “(Y/n)!” “Seungkwan, help!” Seungkwan noticed the man dressed in traditional clothing who was crouched by his friend and he saw how scared (Y/n) looked as the man held her cheek in his hand. Jun didn’t need to turn his head to know that the man who had appeared behind him, was drunk, and no match for the siren king of the seven seas. Jun’s smirk grew as he snapped the fingers of the hand that weren’t holding onto (Y/n), causing a string of water to grab a hold of Seungkwan, lifting him in the air. “NO! Let him down,” (Y/n) tried to break free of the hold that Jun had on her, however, the second that she seemed to have been freed, the string moved Seungkwan to be held over the raging water causing her to freeze once again. “If you fight me, your friend will die, I will throw him in the water and my hunters will take care of him, and not in the way you would like. However, if you come with me, I will let him live. I will stop the storm, and calm the water. No one else will be hurt. It’s your choice, either you come with me, or everyone here dies and you still come with me,” No matter how angry (Y/n) was with Seungkwan and Mingyu for still going through with this yacht party even though she had warned them of the storm, she couldn’t watch him die knowing she could have saved him. “Alright, I’ll go with you, but I want proof of you stopping the storm and everything,” Jun smiled and lightly petted (Y/n)’s head. “Good choice, darling,” The siren snapped his fingers twice, the string of water moved back to be over the yacht, and carefully put Seungkwan down on the deck again. Seungkwan had passed out from the experience, or perhaps, that was also the doing of the siren. After her friend had been returned to safety, the rain began letting up, the thunder and lightning disappeared, and the waves became smaller and smaller, soon enough, the sky was blue once again, the sunset as pretty as ever, and no trace of the magical creatures were left, except for the man with the yellow eyes. “There, I returned your friend and stopped the storm. Let us go now,” (Y/n) was shaking like a leaf, both out of fear and also from the icy water that had rained down on her. “I can’t breathe underwater,” (Y/n) hoped that when the man remembered that she wasn’t like him, he would let her go. “Darling, I’m the king of Sirens, I’m the king of the seven seas, if I want to bring a human with me under the surface, then the water will allow them to breathe. The ocean follows my every command, so don’t you worry. It will be very kind to you, you belong to its king now,” (Y/n) swallowed the lump in her throat, there was no way out of this. She would have to go with this terrifying man, siren, siren king. (Y/n) wasn’t surprised to hear that he was in fact someone of royal status, but hearing that he was a siren only made her more afraid. Jun noticed the hesitant look on the human’s face, which once again awakened an unknown anger within him. “Remember, if you don’t go with me, I will kill your friend and everyone else around us right now and then forcefully bring you with me,” The sinister smile was still spread across his lips, (Y/n) was looking into his sharp eyes that made her dread for her life, though they were still so captivating that she couldn’t look away. “So, human, how’s it going to be?” “You promise no one else is going to be hurt?” “Yes, you have my word. I pride myself on being quite honest, it’s the best way to rule a kingdom,” “Alright, then I’ll go with you,” (Y/n) whispered out the last sentence, before she remembered another detail that might complicate this deal. “Won’t people come looking for me? And for everyone else who disappeared here today?” Jun looked around them before he clenched his jaw, making (Y/n) cling to the railing even harder, as he relaxed his jaw again, a foggy mist began covering the surface of the ocean, it made her feel quite sleepy. “This mist will make everyone forget who was out here with them or what happened, they won’t even remember the storm. As far as they know, the gaps in their memory are all because of the alcohol, and anyone who goes into the water with a siren is forever erased, no one will remember that you existed, and any photo you have been in will be rearranged so that you are removed from them,” “So going with you means that no one will remember me?” “Yes, however, it was inevitable, had I not stopped the hunt, then you too would have been a lost soul. Thanks to me, you get to live. I promise you, darling, with me you will be treated like a queen,” (Y/n) finally looked away from Junhui and her sad eyes landed on Seungkwan’s unconscious form that lay a few meters away, maybe it was a big price to pay for his, and hopefully Mingyu’s, safety but if she could save them then it was worth it. “Okay, I’ll come with you,” “Good, come on. Hold onto me,” “Why?” “If you want the travel to my kingdom to be smooth, then you’ll hold onto me, however, if you want to be thrown around like a piece of paper in the wind then you don’t,” (Y/n) did not like the sound of that so she let go of the railing and took a step closer to the man, whose name she had yet to know, and then lightly laid her hand around his bicep. “Hold on tight,” (Y/n) did not dare think he was joking with her so she did as he said, and held onto his arm as hard as she could. Jun put an arm around the human’s waist before he jumped into the water. (Y/n) couldn’t hold back the scream that escaped her, she wondered if maybe the siren had lied to her and she would die the second she went under the surface, however, she found that once the water covered her head and they kept sinking, she could breathe just fine. (Y/n) had always been quite afraid of the water, though now as she saw everything from beside the alleged king of the seven seas, it seemed quite peaceful and pretty. The way that all the fishes were floating around, the coral flowers that seemed so vibrant, and even the majestic whale that usually would have her fearing for her life, now just seemed so beautiful as it was swimming around. Jun looked down at the girl who was still clinging to him as they kept descending toward his palace, he saw the wonder, and admiration in her eyes as she looked around them. The siren felt a sense of pride at the fact that this little human was admiring his kingdom, his once cold and sharp eyes now softened and went back to their warm and welcoming brown.
A few minutes later, (Y/n) found a big structure on the bottom of the ocean, a large castle, or perhaps a palace, it was tall, and shining just like the scales of some fishes, though it was deep down, the palace seemed to shine as bright as a diamond in direct sunlight. “Woah,” “Do you like it?” (Y/n) was taken aback by the soft tone her mysterious kidnapper used, just a few minutes ago he was speaking so maliciously as he threatened her into following with him, now all of a sudden, he was speaking as soft as a person might do to a newborn puppy or a kitten. “It’s pretty but it’s not my home,” “It is from now on,” There it was once again, that sharp tone, the tone that didn’t leave any room for arguments. Jun himself didn’t know what this foreign feeling was, the yearning, the need to have this human for himself. Jun moved them toward the doors and once they were inside, they were met by Wonwoo and Soonyoung.
“My lord, welcome back,” Wonwoo, as usual, bowed to Jun while Soonyoung just smiled and sent a little salute to him, earning him a little nudge from Wonwoo. “Who’s this?” Soonyoung was far more interested in the human that was clinging to the side of his king than the king himself. (Y/n) immediately stepped behind Jun, using him as a shield from the prying eyes of the man who happened to be holding a sword-like weapon, and (Y/n) did not trust that he wouldn’t hurt her with it. Jun’s heart fluttered at the act, a warm feeling spread throughout his body, and his heart seemed to be doing a happy dance inside his chest. And that’s when it clicked, that’s when Jun finally understood why he had been so adamant about bringing the human with him. This little human was his destined soulmate. “That is not something you need to know right now. Besides, don’t the two of you have any duties to do?” Junhui spoke with a soft tone, these were two of his closest friends, there was no need to be sharp with them, or it was never needed with Wonwoo, with Soonyoung however, it was necessary every now and then. “Yeah yeah, we do. But I, or, we, was curious as to why you stayed behind and ordered us to leave so abruptly,” “Come on, Soonyoung, we are leaving his majesty to go carry out our duties. Do you wish to have your dinner in the dining hall or in your chambers? And will your guest be needing dinner too?” “Thank you, Wonwoo. In my chambers, and yes, prepare food for her too, make sure it is something appropriate for humans,” “Of course,” After that Wonwoo dragged Soonyoung away by the collar of his shirt. “Alright, you can come out again, they are gone,” Junhui couldn’t help but chuckle at the situation, if the human was supposed to be afraid of anyone, it should be him yet she had opted to use him as her protector. (Y/n) carefully stepped out from behind him to face him once again. “Sorry,” “It’s alright, I understand. We sirens can be quite intimidating, though I promised you, didn’t I? that you would be treated like a queen?” “Well yeah, but I don’t know how sirens treat their royals,” “Mostly, we treat them similarly to how humans would, except, we rarely ever indulge in wars and we have never had someone trying to overthrow the one sitting on the throne. If the ocean has acknowledged a person as the ruler, then that person will become the ruler without question,” “So, basically, you’re a very peaceful species that hunt humans?” “I know that the part of us hunting humans isn’t ideal but there was a time when we needed to hunt souls every single day, now we only do it 2-3 times a year,” “I still don’t understand why you kidnapped me,” “I’ll explain that soon, let’s go to my chambers first, you’re still cold from the rain, you can warm up in there, it’s the warmest room in the entire palace,” “Alright,” Jun began leading the way and (Y/n) followed him, she figured that if she were to live her she might as well make it easy on herself and not fight her siren captor. “Um, could I ask you a question?” “You just did, darling, but of course, ask away,” “How come there is no water inside the palace? Or do I just not notice it?” “There is no water inside, despite what some people believe, we sirens are not only creatures of the water but we are also creatures of the land. We can live both in the water and on land, however, we prefer to live under the surface yet keep our homes dry, hence there is no water inside the palace,” “Oh, I’ve always heard that sirens and all other mythical beings of the water only lived in the water,” “Well, that is the truth for some like mermaids and merman, they need to be in the water 90% of the day, while sirens can go without a drop of water for a month, after that we will begin showing scales until we have to go back in the water,” “I thought sirens and mermaids were the same things,” “We’re similar to each other, but very different too. Mermaids don’t have our captivating song, nor do they have the choice of choosing between a tail and legs when in the water, on land they too can have legs but the second a drop of water touches them their legs turn into a tail. Sirens, like you just saw me doing, can keep our legs when swimming or we can choose to have a tail too. And, sirens have more powers than mermaids in general,” Just as (Y/n) was about to ask another question, Jun stopped and (Y/n) walked right into him. “Sorry,” “No worries, I’m quite sturdy, I can take a hit or two. Anyway, here we are, my chambers,” Jun opened the doors and gestured for (Y/n) to walk inside.
“Woah, it’s so big!” “Haha, yeah, fitting for a king don’t you think?” “Definitely, it seems like something out of a fairy tale,” “Come on, let’s sit down on the couch,” Jun led (Y/n) over to what seemed to be the living room part of his chambers. The two sat down, not too close to each other but still quite close. “Um, could I know your name or am I supposed to call you ‘my lord’ or something?” “My name is Wen Junhui, you can call me Junhui or Jun. May I also know your name? Or, well, hear it from you, your friend kind of already spoiled it earlier,” “My name is (Y/n) (L/n),” “Pretty name for a pretty girl. Now, I’ll explain to you why I brought you here,” (Y/n) turned so she was facing Jun and he moved to face her. “When I emerged from the water and I saw you, something in me appeared, a feeling, a yearning, and all I could think was that I needed to have you, that you belong to me, with me,” “So you became obsessed with me from just seeing me once?” “No, not really. In a way yes, but I didn’t understand it first until we came here, just like wolf-shifters, also known as werewolves, have predestined soulmates, so do we, though sirens rarely find theirs and we can live without them, however life with a soulmate is much better,” (Y/n) pointed to herself, “And, I’m your soulmate?” “Yeah, I’m sorry about how I acted. I rarely ever go full malicious siren but seeing you awoke some very strong instincts in me,” (Y/n) saw how sincere Jun was as he looked into her eyes. “It’s okay, you did scare me, but since we came here to the palace you seemed soft so I’m not as scared now,” “You shouldn’t have any fear of me, I would never hurt you, not intentionally at least,” “What does it mean, being your soulmate?” “Well, usually soulmates end up becoming a couple, but sirens can suffice with just having them close by as friends, though I am going to have to mark you, which means I have to bite you somewhere,” (Y/n) looked possibly terrified at his last statement. “Bite me?” Jun awkwardly scratched his neck as he looked away from (Y/n). “Yeah, it’s unconventional but from what I have heard it usually doesn’t hurt too badly, though it depends on where the mark is placed,” “Would I have to be with you as a romantic partner?” “No, I wouldn’t force you to be that. I would love it if it became that but if you don’t want that, then it will be enough just having you around the palace as my friend,” (Y/n) pondered for a few minutes over what Jun had said. “I can’t promise that I’ll fall in love with you, but I’ll give you a chance. Do you have to bite me now or can we wait a little?” “Thank you, I promise I won’t waste this chance. And I will have to mark you within a week, I wish it was longer but with me being the king my instincts are heightened and the stronger the instinct, the sooner the mark has to be placed,” “Alright, well can we wait until a week has gone by?” “Of course, no pressure,” The two continued getting to know each other while sitting on the couch. Suddenly, (Y/n)’s eyes zeroed in on Jun’s hair, when they were on the yacht his hair had been two-toned, part blonde, part black, however, now it was fully blond. Without thinking, (Y/n) raised her hand and touched his hair, Jun sat frozen as the human petted his head, her lips turned up in an innocent smile and her eyes glimmered with happiness. When (Y/n) suddenly found her senses again and realized what she was doing, she quickly removed her hand from his face. “Sorry, your hair just looked so soft and I was wondering, wasn’t your hair a different color when we were above the surface?” “It’s alright, darling, you can touch my hair whenever you want, and, yes, when I’m in my full siren mood, and above the surface my hair is two-toned, while under the surface and when I’m in my civil mood or whatever I should call it, it’s fully blonde,” “You look really handsome with both,” “Thank you, you are very pretty,”
And so the next couple of days went by, the king and his soulmate got to know each other, and perhaps a spark of love was starting to kindle between the two. Jun had given his bed to (Y/n) and he himself slept on the couch, it was comfortable enough for him, and he just needed to let his maids prepare a guest room for (Y/n). And before they knew it, 7 days had passed and it was time for Jun to mark (Y/n).
*knock knock* (Y/n) knocked on the door to Jun’s office, not wanting to just barge in while he was busy. “Come on in,” “Hey, how’s it going?” “Good, I’m almost done for the day. Just, umm, 3 papers left to sign,” “Sweet, Wonwoo asked if we wanted to eat dinner in the dining room or here in your chambers and I might have answered for you,” “That’s alright, I’m fine with eating in either room,” (Y/n) let out a sigh of relief, “Okay, that’s good, I said we’d eat here,” “That sounds perfect,” “Okay, see you later,” “Bye, darling,” (Y/n) left the office and went back to the living room where Wonwoo was still waiting, the human hadn’t actually answered him yet but she didn’t want Jun to decide for them, however, she didn’t think Wonwoo would take her word seriously unless it was a ‘message’ from the king. “He wishes to have his dinner here, and so do I,” “Of course,” Wonwoo bowed before he turned around, ready to leave, yet he was stopped by (Y/n). “Wait!” “What can I do for you?” “Um, do you know anything about marking?” “It is not my expertise, I’m afraid, though I do know someone who knows a lot about it. If you want, I can send him here to talk with you. I understand that you must have many questions and that you might not wish to ask his majesty,” “If you could send that person I would be very grateful,” “As you wish,” “Wonwoo, you know you don’t have to speak like that with me, right?” “Of course, but it is out of respect for my king that I do, his majesty is one of my closest friends, however, when I am working he is not my friend but my king, and you are his soulmate, ultimately making you our queen, and right now I am working therefore, I must speak this way with you,” “You really treasure this job, don’t you?” “Yes, I love it,” “You’re very good at it, thank you, Wonwoo,” “No problem, (Y/n). I’ll have Jihoon stop by so that you can ask him about the marking and everything,” Wonwoo gave (Y/n) a kind smile, before bowing once again and then leaving.
Not even a minute later, a knock landed on the door and (Y/n) ran to open it before Jun noticed it. Once she had opened the door she was met with a man who was significantly shorter than most of the other men she had seen around the palace, though he still held a lot of authority in his presence and he was jaked with muscles. “Hi,” “Hey, I’m Jihoon. Wonwoo said that you had some questions regarding marking,” “Yes, I’m (Y/n). Please come in, though be a bit quiet, I don’t want Jun to know about me asking about this,” “I’m afraid he already knows,” “What? How?” “He’s the king of the seven seas, he hears everything that’s going around in the castle, especially things involving his officers, or his soulmate,” “So, he can hear our conversation now?” “Not exactly, it’s more like he can hear when someone speaks outside of his chambers, the second someone says his name, your name, or one of us officer’s name then he can tune into the conversation,” “I think I understand, anyway, I don’t think we have too much time before he is done with his work for the day,” They sat down on the couch, (Y/n) was very nervous, while Jihoon seemed as cool as a block of ice. “So, what are you wondering about?” “Um, well, does it hurt? Being marked,” “It varies from person to person and also depends on the placement. Some people have a higher pain tolerance and therefore it doesn’t hurt as much, others have a lower pain tolerance and for them, it will hurt more. Placement can also vary from person to person but most people choose to be marked on the spot right where your shoulder meets your neck, it’s usually somewhere in the middle of the pain scale, however, it is one of the more intimate spots which is why many people like it, others go for the wrist or the ankles, it’s not as intimate and usually doesn’t hurt as much, and finally some people go for the thighs, it’s one of the most intimate spots, however, the pain level is very uncertain. I know of some who said it didn’t hurt one bit while others screamed for hours from the pain,” “Woah, Wonwoo wasn’t kidding, you do know a lot,” “Yeah, I studied soulmates and marking when I was younger, it is also a part of my duties here in the palace, to give advice regarding soulmates and relationships,” “I have one more question. How will the mark affect me?” “The mark is powerful, not to mention a mark from the king, however, the mark can’t create feelings, it can only intensify pre-existing feelings, so if you do not have any romantic feelings for Jun, the mark won’t change that. For a few days, you will need to be close to Jun while the mark is settling down, if you are too far away from each other for longer than 5 minutes, you will feel sick and be in pain, however, the mark will settle down in 3 days and once those days have passed, the mark will not bother you anymore. The mark has a function that allows Jun to know when you are in danger and it also allows him to know where you are so that he can find you and protect you in case anything happens,” “So, it won’t change me in any way?” “No, it won’t,” “Thank you, Jihoon, I think that’s all the questions I had unless you can think of anything else to say,” “No, that’s all. Fortunately, our marks are not as complicated as werewolf marks. Well, I’ll take my leave then. Say hi to the king from me,” Jihoon waved as he got up from the couch and then left the king’s chambers.
Seconds after Jihoon left, Jun emerged from his office with a lovesick smile. “Hi, darling,” “Hey, Junnie,” Jun looked around, a little confused, “Jihoon was here?” “Uh, yeah,” (Y/n) answered shyly, a blush creeping up on her face. “I guess Wonwoo sent him here so you could ask about the mark, right?” “Yeah, he did,” “You know you could have asked me,” “I know, but I couldn’t because I didn’t want you to know about it,” Jun walked over to (Y/n) and leaned his forehead against hers. “I understand, well, did Jihoon answer all your questions?” “Yeah, all the ones I asked,” “Okay, have you made any decision?” “Not exactly, I know more about it now, but I don’t want to make the decision without you,” Jun stepped back to look (Y/n) in the eyes. “I’m not the one that’s going to be bitten and possibly go through pain, so my opinion really doesn’t matter,” “Of course, it matters, it will be intimate no matter how you look at it and that affects us both, so it’s not a decision I can take on my own,” “Darling, during this week I have fallen in love with you, it’s affected by the pull I feel toward you but as I assume Jihoon explained, it can’t create feelings, it’s all you, so whatever you decide I will do,” “But what if it changes everything?” “What would it change?” “Us,” “Honey, (Y/n), darling, it won’t change anything unless you want it to,” “But what if I already feel something for you?” “You feel something for me?” “How could I not? Jun, you’ve treated me better than anyone ever has, you’re so sweet and nice, not to mention handsome, and I just, and I think I understand why the universe paired us up,” Jun took a chance and leaned in to kiss (Y/n), he put his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him. Their bodies were pressed together, their lips locked in a fiery embrace, time seemed to stop and they were the only two people left in the world, and it really seemed like fireworks went off as Jun’s happy emotions set off some electric currents in the room causing sparks to appear around the couple. (Y/n)’s heart was beating so fast that it seemed like it would break through her ribcage any second, she didn’t pull away until her lip got caught on one of Jun’s fangs, it didn’t pierce her but it did wake her up from the moment. She was heavily out of breath and she held a hand to her lip as she whispered out an ‘ow’. “I’m sorry, did I hurt you? Are you bleeding? Should I call for a doctor?” “No it’s fine, I’m just not used to kissing someone with fangs, sharp fangs, I’m not bleeding, it’s just throbbing a little,” “Here, an ice cube to keep it from swelling,” Jun snapped his fingers and then a small ice cube appeared in his hand that he gave to (Y/n). “Thank you,” (Y/n) took the ice cube from his hand and held it against her lip.
“Alright, now that we have the first kiss out of the way, why don’t we go back to talking about the mark?” “Yeah, we should talk about,” “What are you most worried about, (Y/n)?” “The pain, I think” “I understand that, pain is scary, I’m sure Jihoon told you that the wrist and the ankles hurt the least, always, the thighs, are a gamble, and the shoulder’s somewhere in the middle if you wonder about any other placement just ask,” “What I’m wondering the most is actually, where would you like to mark me?” Jun’s eyes soften even more, his heart happily fluttering at the fact that (Y/n) wanted to make him happy. “I don’t really care but I’d prefer a more intimate spot, so not the wrist or the ankle, though it is up to you,” “After thinking about I think I would want it on the shoulder,” Jun’s smile brightened as he hugged (Y/n) once again. “That would be perfect,” “So, when are you doing it?” “After dinner, the bite takes up a lot of energy, you will feel very sleepy after it and you will need the energy from the food, it will help you feel less pain. Jihoon didn’t tell you this?” “No, I’m sure he didn’t because I hurried him along,” “Don’t worry, I’m not angry, I’m actually surprised, Jihoon rarely ever misses these things,” “Maybe he didn’t, I think he might have left that out intentionally so that you could tell me,” “He probably did,” Jun pecked (Y/n)’s lips again, “I love you,” “I love you too, even though you kidnapped me,” “Hey, would you have come with me had I not kidnapped you?” “Um, probably not, or actually who knows, maybe I would have met you somewhere else? I mean, just because I wouldn’t have remembered you or that night doesn’t mean you wouldn’t have, right?” “Yeah, that’s true but I’m also afraid that my instincts wouldn’t have let me leave without you. From the moment I laid eyes on you, I knew you belonged to me, um, with me,” “Is that also a siren thing or is it a Jun thing?” “What is?” “The possessiveness, the ‘you belong to me’,” “Both I think, it’s definitely a siren thing but I can’t say it isn’t a me thing either,” “Well, luckily for you, I don’t mind it as long as it doesn’t turn into anything worse than you saying that,” “It won’t have to, once my mark is on you no creature in the world, except for humans I guess, would dare try anything with you,” “Give me another kiss, my king,” “As you wish, my queen,” And so Jun gave (Y/n) another breathtakingly passionate kiss that had them both lost in the moment.

How do you go about creating a new character?
Literally anything can start it, from the simple concepts to jokes to memes to subversions of archetypes or the archetypes themselves.
CptTritium: There’s a couple of processes. Oftentimes I think of an archetype. Thorne, one of my favorites, was going to be the horny bard, but that ended up being a drow tiefling and she ended up being more nuanced than that. But Thorne was supposed to be the horny bard, but with discussion with other table members, it went from that to “What if he’s on a quest for love?” Very upbeat, very passionate, bright side of life, super happy all the time; he could find a redeeming quality in a Balrog. Golden retriever. Then Rose said, “why not make him an artificer”. That’s how he got his gun, Commitment, and a sniper rifle attachment, Long Distance Relationship, and then he has the undocumented feat where he can just, tuxedo-mask a rose out of nowhere. But for an NPC, that can be either super planned out, or like. Cutter, for example, exists because I have this scar on my neck. Scourge of the seas, he was mutinied against, did they not cut deep enough or did he crawl back out of hell. He was going to be a Halloween costume but I ended up making him the villain for Axia and charting out his wants and needs and motivations. Then there’s off-the-cuff NPCs. Most comes organically, others require thought, I listen to music and come up with ideas.
RosexKnight: I sometimes make my characters around the builds! Character creation just works like this, literally any prompt can spark a new character. I’ve made entire families for a character based on a bit, or for a ship, or literally any spark!
Jademod: A combination of things, really? If I get an adopt design, how do I build the character around this design; other times we design the characters ourselves from scratch. That’s a combination of what I think would be an interesting thing to do or not done before, like a take on a class or combination of classes. Now that the world’s getting more fleshed out I try to come up with things that tie to something we know in the world.
Ry: Monkey brain; throw things at a wall and see what sticks/people like. I wanna make a character that jives with everybody, and has some level of chemistry with the group. Like Ezraan was just made to be a scaredy-cat who just wants to help everybody and heal people; he’s the voice of fear, not the voice of reason, but I’ve had a lot of fun with playing him. It’s not that he won't do something, he will, he just won’t be happy about it. He is easily frightened, can see the odds are completely overwhelming but still chooses to go help everyone out. He could just cower in fear but something in him propels him forward.
Bluebrush09: I go through my horses and figure out which I feel like doing. Making new characters is very prone to whimsy. Like Quentin, it was 2am and he just, never left. Hecked off for a while, had to do stuff with Flick, who was out of spite because too many horny kobolds… I just make whatever works.
ZenAquaria: Like the other artists at the table, it varies! Like, for Vess, with her creation, I am obsessed with vampires and I wanted to do the take on the reluctant vampire, but also accepts what she is. With her, it was just a matter of bringing her from her original writing in a roleplay some 6 years ago to a more contemporary character build. She was already designed and fleshed out, I just applied the classes that fit her abilities the best, as opposed to someone like my homebrew gryphonfolk, the Toraion. Ash was crafted entirely out of a concept I nicked out of Blu’s server for a general premise based on Percival du Rolo from Critical Role with the whole warlock plague doctor aesthetic. So how can I take that premise and make it so that it works? It was a focus on acid and poison with necrotic but the limitations of warlock made a pure warlock difficult. Ended up going alchemist artificer with it, which has the abilities for the bonuses to those damage types, as well as feats like Metamagic Adept, for Transmute Spell, turning a fireball into an acidball. And artificer also for the firearm proficiency so I didn’t have to grab another feat for it.

The real question is who didn’t had a crush on Gary. I DID. He always looked so sad, anxious, emotionless and scaredy-cat. But he was a good guy! If you need some game recommendations just ask me. Tbh I also recommend checking out deep-sea-prisoner/funamusea’s games. She’s definitely my fav artist. Idk if you mind triggering themes but I have a very low empathy for these things.
You survived work, it’s already a lot. You should chill and enjoy the rest of the day. I spent the day drawing and taking piano classes. Nothing too exciting.
I saw Lisa Frankenstein, did you watch that? Tbh I still need to figure out if I truly liked it or not lol. I’d say it was unique? Reminds me of Heathers and I love that movie so I’ll probably rewatch it anyway -🩹
gary was like such a perfect man i believe anyone would have a crush on him or one of those "do i want to be him or do i want to fuck him" responses
i also have very low empathy and i dont get triggered by anything really so im always looking for recommendations i love playing games, oh! have you heard about gul? its a pretty good rpgmaker game too, its all in japanese but theres a good video essay on it ^^
thats true, i woke up at 4am this morning, went to work at 5:40am, worked until 2:30pm, went shopping with my mom and didn't end up at home until 4pm,,, i than played hades and now im playing slime rancher :]
ive not drawn nor played the piano in a long time but its sounds like a good day, i used to really be into playing violin and i wish to pick it back up again one of these days! (i also need to pick up drawing its been a long time,,)
i dont think ive seen that one! i do love heathers though, its def up there in my favorite movies

on the picture of sticky little fem! S / O what a frightened cat, could you write to Katakuri and Shanks, separately please.
Katakuri, Shanks with a clingy scaredy cat fem!s/o
*Shanks after the cut
Tumblr media
-he’s kind of divided on his opinion of your clinginess; 2/3 of him loves it. the only reason he might not like it is because he has an image and reputation to uphold and he can’t have his girlfriend clinging tohim like she’s a koala and he’s a tree
-when he’s not in a situation that calls for his utmost intimidation and scary persona, he’s totally fine if you cling onto him. it’ssofucking adorable he just melts- especially when you just cling onto his arm like wrap yourself around it and even when he lifts it you won’t let go, heart eyes
-in private when it’s just the two of you he’s actually quite clingy too but a silent clingy
-he find your cowardness somewhatannoying occasionally just because he can’t and doesn’t want to always be watching you- he’s a busy man.
-if you’re not a devil fruit user though then he’s more accepting because he knows the danger you’re putting yourself in and he gets worried about you constantly either way so having you stickto him is often reassuring
-when you’re scared and run to him and cling onto him he couldn’t care less because at least now you’re safe, he’s more focused on obliterating whatever is terrorizing you
+ oneshot
it was the early evening and you were walking the deck of Big Mom’s ship, watching the dolphins and fish swim in the water- Katakuri was in a meeting.  the retreating light was already casting shadows in the crevices of the ship and you made sure to steer clear of the unsettling dark spaces.
as you kept walking you heard a noise behind you, turning and seeing nothing you kept walking- your normal cowardice appeared and you were already paranoid.
the more you walked the farther the sun sank on the horizon and the shadows crept closer. the noises kept coming but you didn’t see anything.
eventually you decided to stop at the bow of the ship and watch the waves part before it. taking a deep. breath you let the salty ocean air fill your nose, when a hand suddenly grabbed your shoulder.
you jolted and whipped your head around to look behind you, meeting a terrifying face of a goblin-devil mix. utterly gruesome and scary, you screamed and yanked yourself away from the thing’s grip before dashing off and sprinting down the deck towards the location of your boyfriend.
you burst through the door and Katakuri, Daifuku, Oven, and Smoothie all stared at you. you ran across the room and jumped onto your boyfriend who had instinctively (and seeing it with his Haki) opened his arms and tried to hold you- but you kept climbing until you were clinging to his bicep like a scared kitten.
normally he would find this somewhat endearing and amusing but he could tell from your body language as well as your action and position that something had scared you. you were watching the door and Katakuri followed your line of sight, the devilish figure walked through as if it was nothing. Katakuri and his siblings frowned disapprovingly.
“Cracker what are you doing?”
you furrowed your brows in confusion right as the figure took off the mask and Cracker erupted into a fit of laughter. Katakuri’s eyes were piercing and enraged, angry at his brother for doing such a childish and disrespectful thing.
“apologize to _____.”
Cracker stopped laughing and glared at his older brother as if challenging the commander. unfortunately for Cracker and fortunately for you, Katakuri’s anger could be bested by no one and could make anyone crumble.
the younger brother huffed and muttered an apology before leaving with Oven trailing behind him making fun of his failed prank, the two soon followed by Daifuku and Smoothie.
Katakuri brought his arm up and pried you off his arm, holding you in his arms instead.
“are you okay?”
you nodded and thanked the man, moving his scarf down slightly and gently pressing a kiss to his scarred mouth, eliciting a blush and small smile.
Tumblr media
-he’s super clingy himself so he had absolutely no problem with your constant affection and need of it. always meeting you with tenfold affections
-he always has a slight worry that you clinging to him in battle or in a dangerous situation will get you hurt but it’s almost always defeated by the known fact that you’re the most safe in his arms
-he finds your cowardice endearing and amusing, sometimes scaring you on purpose or laughing when one of his crew scares you- of course you always end up in Shanks’ arms so that’s a plus
-when it’s not you or one of his crew/friends that scared you then it’s a different scenario. he’s majorly protective of his friends but where as he has patience until he makes a move against the person(s) antagonizing his friends, he has none when someone is doing the same to you
-his constant buried fear of you getting hurt increases and reaches the front of his mind whenever he sees you scared by something other than him, his crew, or his friends. he’ll waist no time having at least 3 of his men ready to attack and his eyes are immediately trained on wherever you came running from or whatever/whoever is the cause of your terror
+ oneshot
the red haired crew sat outside at a small restaurant in the town, relaxing and eating dinner. you had gone off to look at some shops, kissing Shanks on the cheek before your departure and leaving him with a lovesick grin.
you weren’t able to find anything you liked until you spotted a little shop that had a bunch of toys. in the window there was a red lion plush displayed and you knew you had to buy it. you happily dashed into the store and purchased the plush, thanking the owner of thee store before skipping out and heading back down the street to find the resturaunt.
as you were walking back, the people littering the street began to part a far way ahead and a large amount ran past you. intrigued by the peoples’ action you turned around and walked slowly backwards while you tried to catch a glimpse of where they were heading.
you saw that their destination was most likely the docks as the sea was that way and you could see the sails of some ships against the setting sun- right when you came to that conclusion you bumped into something behind you and you dropped the red lion.
you squeaked in surprise and quickly scooped the lion up, dusting him off giving the top of his head a quick apology smooch. you turned around still looking down at the lion and a hand roughly grabbed your shoulder. you froze and your heartbeat spiked, fear overtaking your body as you realized you hadn’t bumped into a wall, but you had in fact bumped into a navy commander.
“oi, isn’t she on a wanted poster?”
the commander looked back at his men and one of them took a paper from his coat, your wanted poster. the commander holding you laughed, joyed by the high bounty you had on your head.
before anyone could comprehend what was happening, you stomped on the commander’s foot and ran away down the street.
you rounded the corner holding desperately to the lion plush and breathing rapidly, spotting Shanks and the crew at the resturaunt a mile away. you called out his name a few times until he heard you, his head snapping towards you smiling. his happiness dwindled and disappeared when he noticed the terrified look on your face.
he got up from his seat as did Benn along with a few other crewmates who had seen you sprinting towards them. Shanks met you a third of the way and you crashed into his body clutching the fabric of his shirt while he wrapped his arms protectively around you.
his eyes moved to the direction you had come from and one of the crewmembers raised his gun at the corner. Shanks’eyes narrowed and he glared at the crowd blocking his view of what might have scared you, his every sense alert and his haki already weakly radiating off him. you looked over your shoulder right as the group of marines appeared through the crowd and walked towards the pirate crew.
the enemy group stopped in their tracks when they realized just who they had been planning to arrest. it only takes a simple look exchanged between the two men to send the commander into a stream of apologies, ushering his crew back and scolding them for not telling him who exactly you are.
Shanks rubbed your back soothingly and kissed your forehead, leading the both of you back to a table while the atmosphere quickly lightened. Shanks sat you on his lap and watched you with love filled eyes as you showed him the red lion plush and explained how it represents him and the red haired crew.

Cruel Summer - Part 1 [JJ x Reader]
Tumblr media
[A/N: Hi again. I've missed you. It was time for something new. I found this story in a dream. Prepare for a mental trip, it's indicative of the year i've had. This is gonna go in a million different directions and I can't say i'm surprised. Ive written two chapters and i'm already like ...well, fuck it i'm posting it...I needed to get back into writing and this is what I got so enjoy. I have a playlist I used while writing, comment if you want it shared. As always, not that any of us need the reminder....but there will be adult content (whatever that means) and language and NSFW content so...keep me off your screen at the dinner table. Love y'all ...Mossy x]
You ease your car into park, your hand resting on the gear shift, the tires slowly rocking back and forth on the soft ground as the engine dies. Sunlight streams through your windshield as a cloud of dust and sand settles around the car, and you feel a trapped breath release from deep in your chest. The quiet, melodic hum of music relaxes your shoulders and through the trees you can see the water rhythmically hitting the shore.
You haven’t been here in a few weeks and you're starting to feel it; the tight and uncomfortable tensing in your muscles, the locked jaw, the flat expressions. The closer it gets to the anniversary the more you feel the need to visit. But the frequency of your visits is dictated by Her, and She keeps tabs on your whereabouts a lot these days. ‘Its not healthy to spend so much time there’ She would say to you, while pulling a Valium out of her bag to slide towards you. She has your therapist on speed dial on the landline. And she blames you for living in the past. Ironic.
You pull your keys out of the ignition, unbuckle your seatbelt, and let your muscle memory guide you out of the car and through the trees to the edge of the embankment where the sand and the sea grass take over. Flashes of Lacey running down the beach in front of you, looking back over her shoulder and laughing, are burned into your eyelids when you blink. She was everywhere here, every corner of this beach belonged to her. Her towel spread out on the sand at your feet, books with water damaged pages scattered across it, her bag tossed lazily to the side. Her board perched against the log you used to dry out your wetsuits. Her camera.
You close your eyes and listen to the wind move through the grass, her laugh echoing off the rocks. Come on! She would laugh with an outstretched arm. Come take a picture with me.
Her lips were supple and her nose was sun kissed, her hair bleached and tousled from the saltwater. She would motion for you to come over and you would go, because you always did, to fit into the frame next to her, cramming yourself in wherever you could after she found her best angle. She would hold up the camera and wrap her arm around you tightly, the smell of her tanning oil and sweat floating around you in a heady cloud, and at the last moment she would press her lips to your cheek and whisper cheese.
You blink and look at the water again, a seagull squawking as it flies over the empty beach. Reaching into your jeans pocket and feeling for the photo, you pull it out and look down, the moment she clicked the button frozen in time on the paper in your hand. Her side profile was radiant, the wind blowing her hair around her lips which were pressed to your face, you looked straight at the camera with a shy smile, a hidden smile, a quiet smile. An honest smile.
You run your thumb across the picture reflexively before sighing and putting the picture back in your pocket, it was one of the last photos you had together and it was one of the only ones you could clearly make out your own face. That always bothered you. Now you’ll never forget how happy we were today. I love you. She shook the polaroid until it was developed, then pressed it into your chest and winked, waiting for you to grab ahold of it, before turning on her heal and running towards the water.
Your chest burns for a moment before you straighten up and set your jaw. You feel good today, closer to her than usual. Today might be the day. You follow the path through the dunes towards the water and concentrate on the tide, watching the foam and the water snake along the shoreline. It’s windy, but not as windy as it usually is this time of day. The sky, clear and clean of any clouds, is the colour of blue that reminds you what happiness is. Or was, you know, before all the shit happened. When life was something you had the ability to process, sometimes even enjoy.
Now or never. Your head whips up at the sound of her voice and you see her, standing in the water. You feel the blood rush to your face, your core warming. There she is, running a hand up her stomach towards her chest and smiling at you, the kind of smile that would get good people into bad situations.
Slowly you slide your sneakers off and kick them aside, wiggling the sand between your toes. You’re not wearing a bikini but the beach is empty, so you close your eyes and listen to Lacey laughing from the water, come on scaredy cat, nobodies looking, as you peel your top off and drop it into the sand beside your shoes. You unbutton your shorts next and let them slide down your legs, stepping out of them hesitantly.
Lacey walks out of the water, so you keep your eyes closed, knowing if you open them she will be gone, and you wait for her to bite her lip and smile at you. There. Look at your body. You’re beautiful. Come on. She guides you towards the water with nothing but her own bare skin and confidence, nothing could ever touch her. You know its only a few steps until your feet are in the water, you should open your eyes and look around to make sure nobody is watching, but you don’t get to see her often anymore between the Valium and the other stuff, so you forgo it for a few more seconds. Today is the day, you have to do it. Time is running out. She’s all but told you as much.
“I miss you” You say, but your voice sounds foreign and it breaks and scatters into the wind.
Im right here. Lacey smiles at you like she always did, her crooked dimpled grin, her perfectly straight white teeth, her eyes shining. Now shut up and get in the water.
You feel the warm dry sand turn to wet firm sand beneath your feet, you know you’re close. It’s ours, all of it. The water. Just let go and let the Ocean carry you. You’re weightless. Isn’t it perfect?
Your breathing is shallow and your palms are clammy. There’s a tingling sensation in your thighs and you feel dizzy. You have to open your eyes. No, don’t. Not yet. Stay with me.
The water touches your toes and your eyes shoot open, you recoil and lose your footing, falling backwards. You crab crawl away from the water until the tide retreats and you feel your vision tunnelling as Lacey fades into the sunbeam above the water.
You scramble back to your clothes and pull your shorts above your sand stained underwear, your shirt smoothing your hair down as it settles back over your shoulders. You take a few deep breaths until your heart rate slows down. A tear springs up and sits in your eye for a few moments before falling and drying on your cheek. The beach is the best place to cry. The ocean is loud so nobody hears you, and the sun is hot so the tears dry fast.
You don’t want to turn around and look back at the water, you know she won’t be there. You’re alone, properly alone, just like she said you would be, psychic bitch. If she hadn’t been so charismatic and beautiful and conveniently wealthy, people would have outcasted her for being a freak a long time ago. What with all the tealeaves and palm readings and ‘gut feelings’. But they never did, her family had more money than the Kennedys and she looked like she walked runways for fun on the weekends, so she was untouchable. Your stomach starts to turn as you think about it so you blink the ground in front of you back into focus and start walking.
You have a few minutes of freedom left before She starts calling and asking where you are, so you walk slow to savour it. Who knows when you would be allowed out long enough again to go back.
You emerge from the tree cover into the parking area, pondering how many different routes you can take to get home to elongate the drive, when you hear a car door close. You look up, pulled from your thoughts, and squint to see through the bright sun.
“‘Scuse me!” A voice says, deep and friendly. A silhouette is moving towards you, so you bring your hand up to block the sun from your eyes. “Hey, sorry, do you live around here?”
You blink a few times as the silhouette gets closer and make out the figure of a tall man with wispy hair and baggy shorts.
“Sorry?” You reply, still trying to get a clear image.
“Im just trying to find the Marina but I have taken at least 5 of these side roads and all I keep finding is empty damn parking lots.” The man stops a few feet from you, close enough that you can make out a tan face with a toothy grin, and blonde hair. “First one with a pretty girl though, so I must be going the right way.” He smiles at you confidently, shielding his own eyes from the sun, but still squinting.
You look back over your shoulder to the beach, confirming Lacey is gone. You turn and look at the man who is watching you intently, hopefully, and smile quietly.
“Yeah, it’s uh…its just back on the main road, go 3 clicks south and take a right at the fork. You’ll see a fancy sign for a beach club, it’s just past that.” You look past him to the old Ford truck with rusted wheel wells and smile to yourself. “Assuming you’re not going to the beach club.”
The man laughs and smiles, looking over your shoulder at the beach before his eyes settle back on you. “Nope. Never been to one of those…legally.” He winks and backs up a few steps, then nods and says “Thanks” before turning and walking back towards his truck. He slows as he reaches it and stops, then turns back and pivots before jogging back to you.
You wait and watch, curious. He stops a few steps away and stretches out his hand.
“Sorry. That was rude of me. Im JJ.”

Jamil/Azul - Broom Lessons
M/M Gen Fluff
Prompt: “JamiAzu on a broom”
“Listen, we’ll both be in deep shit if you don’t try and leap this instant!” Jamil cried out as he exasperatedly tried to goad Azul into starting his broom.
“She simply does not like me Jamil, I cannot force her.”
As his inner cauldron started boiling over, Jamil reminded himself to calm down and count to ten. Count to ten. One. Two. This was going to work out. Deep breaths.
“I understand.”
He had been trying to have him take off for the past few hours, yet he hadn’t advanced beyond mere floating. It was perplexing, and after some forced maneuvers it became clear that Azul was not only terrible at flying. He was also deadly afraid of it, and trying to bypass that to avoid Mr. Vargas’ detention was going to be another can of worms. Jamil wordlessly leapt forward and motioned for Azul to scuttle aside, which he did in slight annoyance until he suddenly found himself relinquishing the driver’s seat to the long haired fellow. One small kick and he fell forward, the shaft pressing on his behind and whizzing softly as Jamil activated the engine.
“Wait, hol-“
A little bit of exposure therapy hurt no one right? Ignoring Azul’s desperate cries, Jamil took off and quickly came to a standstill, about 5 meters in the air.  “Are you holding onto the broom?” Jamil asked before his belly was compressed by a pair of unexpectedly strong (or rather desperate?) hands, accompanied by a waft of salty aroma. Azul was wobbling behind him, despite the steadfast position of the broom, and had pressed his face in his back.
“You’re not going to overcome your fear by hiding,” Jamil said, a bit annoyed.
“I’m not going to overcome my fear by you! Deciding to launch us in the air!” Azul cried out, his voice muffled by Jamil’s jersey. It was getting late and the evening cold had been slowly creeping up on him, the lack of sleeves only intensifying his chicken skin. He noticed Azul was rather warm for a deep sea creature.
“First of all, calm down. Nothing awful is going to happen if I’m here,” Jamil reassured, “try to relax your body.”
He could feel his partner stiffing up, doing the exact opposite of what he suggested. “I can’t believe the dorm leader of Octavinelle is such a scaredy cat. Even Kalim hopped on the broom like a fearless madman…”
“And I am not Kalim.”
“I’m just saying that if you were Kalim you’d alre- Hey, are you crying?”
“Must be your imagination.”
Good grief. That was definitely a small sob. This was going to be a long evening, wasn’t it.
He loosened his grip and softly grabbed Azul’s sleeve.  “Hey, it’s okay to be afraid. But clinging to me like this will only use up your energy and make you even more tense. Come on now…"
No answer. Jamil groaned.
"At least let go. I’m going to start to think you have a thing for me.”
“P-Preposterous!” Azul exclaimed, his face lightening up in rosy shades as he continued his tirade. “I may have told you I liked secretive persons or that I admire your talent, but I never meant it in the romantic sense! I was strictly speaking about business. Y-You are the one who is mistaken.”
“Stop clinging to me and I might believe you.”
Azul kept silent, and Jamil felt his hug loosen. Ah, how he loves breathing. Instead the pressure moved to his waist, hands cupping his flanks. That’s going to leave a mark later. He looked back and saw the flushed Azul’s slightly puffy face, illuminated by the evening sun, staring at him through his smudged glasses. Unexpectedly cute.
“Hold on tight,” Jamil smirked as he whipped the broom into motion.

Meet Me in the Dark
fjsdfkas definetly not posting my fic for wlw renegades event 1 right before the month ends
anyways here’s a gay rubell au!!!  i got the prompt idea from  here (5 ii)
@wlwrenegades event 01: get to know the members → [Kinley]
↳ [ “Don’t worry about it,” the girl said smoothly.  She was a tall girl with blonde hair pulled back in a high ponytail.  She wore a heavy down jacket, and cargo pants.  A heavy knife hung off her belt.  Ruby’s eyes widened.  “Oh my god, I’m going to die!”   ]
wc: 1467
Ruby hurried through the forest, arms pulled tight to her chest.
“Why did I do this?”  She asked herself again.  “It wouldn’t have taken too much longer to go on the streets,” she shivered.
Ruby only wore a short lilac dress with lace sleeves, and small sandals.  She had nothing else, except her phone.  Ruby shivered again.  Why the hell did she choose to be lazy, and walk through the woods?  She had been tired, and decided to cut a half mile off her walk by going through the dark forest.  And now, she was definitely regretting that choice.
An owl hooted nearby, and the leaves rustled in the wind.  Every tree seemed like some shadowy monster, ready to devour Ruby.
Ruby shrieked as she saw a human, standing still in the middle of a clearing.  She gasped for breath, convinced they were a serial killer.
She cautiously neared it, phone raised up, as if she could defend herself with it.  If it was a serial killer, Ruby was dead.
“Hello?”  Ruby asked, her voice quavering in the dark shadows.
The person didn’t respond.
Ruby scooped a rock from the ground, and hurled it straight at it.
The rock bounced to the ground with a clack.  It wasn’t a person.  Just a very odd shaped rock.
Ruby laughed, half relief, and half hysteria.
Her mind was just jumping to conclusions.  She was the only person dumb enough to be there.  She was completely alone.
Ruby backed away, her panic quickly fading.  Right until she crashed into a warm, soft object.
She crashed down to the ground.  A pinecone dug into her knee and leafs scratched at her arms.
Ruby jumped upright.
“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry!”  she said quickly.  “I know this probably looks really weird, but trust me I’m normal!”  Ruby laughed awkwardly.  This was bad.  They probably thought that she was a killer.  “I uh, I was just cutting through the forest.  I didn’t want to walk the extra half mile home.”  She smiled.  “You know how it is.”
“Don’t worry about it,” the girl said smoothly.  She was a tall girl with blonde hair pulled back in a high ponytail.  She wore a heavy down jacket, and cargo pants.  A heavy knife hung off her belt.
Ruby’s eyes widened.  “Oh my god, I’m going to die!”
The girl burst out laughing.  “Where’d you get that idea?”
“You have a knife!  You're in the woods at 2 in the morning!  You look like you're dressed for murder!  It’s what any sensible person would think!”  Ruby backed away, holding her hands up.  “Please don’t kill me, I’m too young to die!”
The stranger laughed again.  “I’m not a serial killer.  Relax.”
“That’s exactly what a serial killer would say!”
“I have a knife because it’s my father’s,” the girl said lightly.  “I don’t go anywhere without it.  Trust me, the most dangerous thing it’s been used for was when it slipped while I was whittling.  And I was out here because tonight’s the last night of the Perseids.”
Ruby looked at her blankly.
She sighed. “The meteor shower?”
Ruby blinked.  She had absolutely no idea what the girl was talking about.
The girl groaned.  “Lots of shooting stars.  I’m going to watch them.”
“Ohhh.”  Ruby blushed.  “I’m sorry I freaked out. It’s just… I’m not the bravest person.” She laughed. “I tend to get nervous.”
“Well, if you're out in these woods in the middle of the night, then you definitely aren’t a scaredy cat,” the girl said.  “They even freak me out at this time, and I know them like the back of my hand.”  She extended her hand. “I’m Danna Bell.”
Ruby smiled. “Nice to meet you, Danna.  I’m Ruby Tucker.”
Danna grinned.  “Nice to meet you too.”
“You come out here a lot?”  Ruby asked.
Danna nodded.  “As often as I can.  I live on the outskirts of the forest.  It’s practically a second home to me now.”
“Wow.”  Ruby wished she could have a place like that for herself.  “That sounds nice.”
“Yeah.”  A ghost of a smile covered Danna’s lips. “It is.”
“Well,” Ruby said awkwardly. “I should get back home. Enjoy the shooting stars!”
Danna laughed.  “Hey, if you want to, you can come with me.  I promise I won’t kill you.  It’s just, you’ve never really seen the night sky before, have you?”
Ruby scoffed. “Of course I have!  I see it everyday.”
“In the city.”
“Well yeah.”  Ruby crosses her arms. It felt like Danna was judging her.
“Trust me, you haven’t seen the real night sky.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Do you want to find out?”  Danna held her hand out to Ruby. “I can show you if you want.”
Ruby hesitated, then placed her palm in Danna’s.
“I’d like that,” she said with a smile.
Danna grinned.  “Follow me!”
---
Danna led them to a cliff high above a glittering lake.  In the pale moonlight, Danna was absolutely breathtaking.  Her brown skin was caressed in a gentle silver, and her blonde hair looked as if it was made of stardust.
“Oh, this is gorgeous,” Ruby breathed.  “I don’t think I have ever not been able to see the city before. But here…”
“It’s just us,” Danna finished with a smile. “But you haven’t seen anything yet.  Look up.”
And so she did.
Immediately, her breath hitched, and her eyes were caught in the gorgeous sky.  It was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.  The stars seemed to beckon her, begging her to come join them.  All she wanted was to fly up, and dance among the glittering jewels of light.  A sea of sparks were spread across the sky.  Each star shimmered and winked against the inky black sky.
“Wow,” Ruby said in awe.  “It’s incredible.”
Danna nodded. “There’s no light pollution here. Nothing obstructing our view.  I wish it was like this in the city.”
“Me too.”
Ruby realized they had both inched together. They were probably both cold, Ruby told herself.  That was all.
“Look!”  Danna pointed out a long silver streak as it asked across the sky.  “A shooting star!”  She grinned at Ruby, and slipped her hand into Ruby’s.
Ruby blushed a deep red.  She must have been imagining things.  Right?
“What did you wish for?”  Danna asked.
“Wished for?”  Ruby tilted her head, confused. “What does that mean.”
Danna laughed.  “Whenever you see a shooting star, you make a wish.  And then, one day it’ll come true.”
“Oh.”  Ruby looked down.  She knew exactly what she wanted at that moment. “What did you wish for?”
“I can’t tell you.  Otherwise it won’t come true.”
“But do you think it could?”  Ruby tore her gaze away from the sky to look at Danna.
“Yeah,” Danna replied, meeting Ruby’s gaze head on.  “I think it could.”
“Then what’s stopping you?”  Ruby was intimately aware of the space between them.  Or rather, the lack of space.
Danna bit her lip and pulled Ruby even closer. “Absolutely nothing.”
Ruby tilted her head back, and closed her eyes as their lips met.  Sparks flew through her mind as Danna held Ruby tightly against her.
“What would you wish for?”  Danna asked softly when they parted.
Ruby smiled.  “This.  I would wish for this.”
“Me too.”
Ruby laughed, but her teeth started to clatter.
“Are you cold?”
“A little,” Ruby said, shivering.
“Come on, sir down,” Danna said. She took her jacket off, and slung it around the two of them.
Ruby smiled gratefully, and snuggled her body tight against Danna’s.
“This may sound weird, but I’m really glad I scared you today,” Danna said.
“Me too.”  Ruby smiled.  “I was wondering… I know we’ve only known each other for an hour or two, but I really like you.  Like… a lot,” Ruby said lamely.  She cringed.  Normally she wasn’t so bad with words.
“Me too.”  Danna laughed softly, the sound making Ruby smile, and giving her courage.
“I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me,” Ruby said quickly.  “Like, y’know.  Date each other. Be girlfriends.”  Ruby cringed, waiting for the no to come.
Instead, Danna said, “I’d love nothing more.”
Ruby let out a sigh of relief.  “I’m glad.  Do you have a phone?”
Danna nodded.  “Not with me though.”
“That’s okay.  I’ll put your number in my phone, and I’ll text you when I get home.”
“What’s the rush?”  Danna looked back at the sky.  “The Perseids won’t be back for another year.  We should enjoy them as much as we can.”
Ruby smiled. “I’d love nothing more.”
They both leaned back, and snuggled in as close to each other as possible.
Together, the two girls held their hands tightly intertwined as silver streaked across the sky high above.

Note
Thank you for your notes, ep 10 seems so fun! Would you mind explaining the plays a bit?
hello there~~ i don’t know when this was sent bc i fell asleep so sorry for the late response! you’re welcome! Ep. 10 was super fun and i’d be happy to explain the plays! uwu
answers below read more for spoiler purposes~
warning: long post
Overall synopsis of both plays:
they are both based on the idea of the Genpei War, which was a Japanese civil war that happened between 1180-1185 (Heian Era).
the main differentiating factor between the OG and Newborn plays is that OGs went with a tragedy route while Newborn had a happy ending.
i can’t go very deep into the OGs’ play characters bc not much was revealed about them aside from appearances and names. but i’ll provide a description for the newborn characters
however, i do know that Hiro and Tenma portrayed the same character: Minamoto and Yoshitsune/Kurou
for historical accuracy purposes, I will not be referring to them by the character name and instead by the actor’s name
OG Play: Yume no Ato (The Trail of Dreams)
it starts off with a “man”(Hiro) asking a travelling monk (Zen) to listen to his story that was happened “hundreds of thousands of years ago”.
along with the “man”’s narrative, it takes you back to his story as a flashback format.
you then see a fight between the shogun’s portrayed by Reni and Yuzo where Yuzo is killed by Reni in the war. Reni then questions why humans fight each other when they’re all humans.
we then see the rest of the Taira clan including Syu (a samurai), Zen (also a samurai), Hiro (main samurai/shogun), and Kasumi (presumably Hiro’s lover (yes, he cross dressed))
Kasumi begs Hiro to take him/her with them to war which almost never happened during that era.
the group eventually begins to lose trust in one another bc they suspected someone leaked their travel routes to the enemy, causing them to get ambushed. Syu eventually suggests to drop Kasumi from the group bc she’s a female.
Kasumi pleas for Hiro to take her with them. Hiro refuses bc he doesn’t want to endanger her, but she pleas even harder and succeeds.
The group was ambushed once again but they realized that no information was leaked, it was all the enemy’s doing. Syu and Zen stayed behind to hold them off while telling Hiro to escape.
Syu was eventually killed in battle, before dying, he promised his rival (Zen) that their rivalry will be saved for their next life. Zen proceeded to fight the rest of the battle alone (with no conclusion)
Kasumi was also eventually killed in war and was dying in Hiro’s arms. Before she died, she promised him that she’ll be reborn a white bird in her next life, where she’ll be able to fly free and follow him wherever he goes. (top notch voice acting btw)
Hiro has lost everybody in the war, as his last effort, he announced his name aloud to the enemies around him, bascially saying that, “I’m right here, if you want to kill me, come get me!” and fought as the lone soldier in his clan.
the play now returns to the “man” telling the story and the monk. the monk is surprised on how detailed the “man”‘s story is, stating that it’s as if “the man saw it with his own eyes”.
the man gives an interesting quote here, saying that: “once upon a time, there were friends who fought together upon this land and talked about their dreams. But now, they are nowhere to be seen, and is only left to rot alone.” which is a direct reference to the OGs with Mankai imo
it is eventually revealed that the “man” was the spirit of Hiro, who was unable to pass on because he was bound by his regrets and guilt for the death of his friends by taking them to war.
the monk had a realization moment, before he helped Hiro’s spirit move on by showing him a pure white bird, indicating Kasumi.
the stage direction eventually shone a light towards the audience, symbolizing that the audience is their “light” where Hiro eventually walks toward and disappears
after Hiro disappears, the monk revealed himself to be the spirit of Zen and he also follows after Hiro towards the light and disappears.
the play ends with an empty stage, as if nothing was ever there in the first place.
Newborn Play: Shinsetsu: Kurou-den (The New Legend of Kurou)
Tenma portrayed Kurou/Minamoto no Yoshitsune, a samurai whose personality depends on his alcohol intake. If he’s drunk, he is very cool, calm and collected, fearless, etc. but when he’s sober, he is a major wimp and scaredy cat.
Tsuzuru portrayed Benkei, a samurai who is a friend of Kurou, who is also responsible for switching Kurou’s personalities by providing him with the alchohol. He is a very smart, savage, and strong samurai.
Misumi and Masumi portrays brother samurai characters, Tsugunobu and Tadanobu. They eventually swore loyalty to Kurou after he saved Tsugunobu from dying.
Chikage portrayed Minamoto no Yoritomo, Kurou’s long separted brother and the antagonist of this play. He plots to get rid of Kurou so he can become the sole ruler of the Minamoto clan.
Kumon portrayed Yasuhira, a young master who had to shoulder the burden of his household after the death of his father, the previous master of the house.
Tenma changes his personality several times throughout this play. For my sanity purposes, drunk Tenma (the cool one) will be represented with D•Tenma and wimp Tenma will be W•Tenma.
the play starts with Tsuzuru challenging D•Tenma to a duel as an attempt to get Tenma’s sword as part of his victory collection. He lost the duel and was asked by Tenma to travel with him to see the world together. Hence, the iconic comedic duo was born.
it then gives us a montage of all some of the adventures between Tenma and Tsuzuru.
D•Tenma and Tsuzuru eventually arrives at Kumon’s household to work for them where he was introduced to Kumon through Kumon’s father (still alive at the time)
that is also where they meet Misumi and Masumi and challenged each other to a friendly duel. This is where W•Tenma was revealed to the both of them.
Tenma got the chance to meet Chikage where Chikage wished for them to work together and rule the clan as brothers (ha)
the four of them then went on an expedition together. In that expedition, Misumi almost died (fell off a cliff) but was saved by DTenma, that was when Misumi swore his loyalty to Tenma.
the next day, the group went to help some allies who were having a hard time in battle.
unfortunately, W•Tenma wimped out and wanted to escape. This resulted in Misumi getting injured from protecting him. The brothers now had to retreat bc Misumi needs to heal his injuries.
the group now realized that they’ve been banished by Chikage.
the conflict of Tenma having to rely on alchohol to remain strong also surfaced.
when they finally returned to the mansion, the enemy attacked him and Kumon escaped, leaving Tenma and Tsuzuru to fight.
they were outnumbered, so Tsuzuru opted for Tenma to escape first so he can confront Chikage.
W•Tenma didn’t want that, and was hesitating. Tsuzuru was going to force some alchohol in him, when W•Tenma actually fought back for once in his wimp self. This resolved the conflict of Tenma’s personalities and he can now he semi-strong without alcohol (character development whoo)
and so, Tenma went to confront Chikage head-on. They fought, and Tenma managed to escape (don’t know what happened to Chikage.)
Tenma arrived at the sea shore where a raft was placed. There, he met up with Misumi and Masumi, who opted to follow him. When asked about Tsuzuru’s whereabouts, Tenma told them that Tsuzuru went and fought those enemies alone.
just when they all thought Tsuzuru died, he appeared, alive and well.
the play ended with the four of them escaping on the raft and continuing their adventure of “seeing the world” together.

Chapter Fourteen - An Incident at the Marketplace
Violet was very quiet for the next several days with Josephine. The kids didn’t have much to do that didn’t involve giving Josephine a heart attack, so they mostly just sat around in her library. Klaus tried desperately to find the grammar books interesting, while Josephine tried to teach grammar and English to Sunny, who instead found hardcovers to bite on. Violet, meanwhile, had taken out her own commonplace book, and kept either scribbling furiously or doodling, with her ribbon keeping her hair back. She wouldn’t let Klaus see what she wrote, but she would show him and Sunny her drawings- usually blueprints for another invention, or a sketch of something nearby, like a book or Sunny asleep on the table. A few times she drew the sea, and she always got a distant look in her eyes as she did.
Every now and again, they’d ask Josephine how she knew their parents, or about Ike, or if they could please show her how the oven worked, but she always changed the topic, so they eventually gave up.
Finally, one day, Klaus asked about Lake Lachrymose, and Josephine’s eyes did the same thing as Violet’s, where she looked like she’d fallen into a distant, but fond, memory.
“Oh, I grew up on these shores, you know.” Josephine said. “I know every cave and curve, from the Lavender Lighthouse, above Curdled Cave, to the edge of the Fickle Ferry’s route.”
“Could we go swimming?” Violet asked, as she bounced Sunny on her knee. “I’d love to skip rocks again, and-”
“Oh, no.” Josephine shook her head. “No, I can’t go near the lake now. I can only bear to view it from this window.”
The Baudelaires shot each other tired looks. Klaus said, “I know lakes and similarly deep-water locations can be dangerous, but if you know it so well-”
“Oh, it’s not that.” Josephine said. Then, she leaned over and whispered, “It’s the leeches.”
“The… what?” Klaus asked.
“The Lachrymose Leeches.” Josephine shivered. “They’re quite different from normal leeches, you see- these leeches live only in Lachrymose Lake, and they will eat anything that even remotely smells of food. You have to wait one hour after eating to go swimming or they will swarm and-” she cut herself off, dabbing her eyes with a handkerchief. “I’m sorry, children. It’s not grammatically correct to end a sentence with ‘and.’ But I just get very emotional-”
“That’s how Ike died?” Klaus asked. “Leeches?”
Josephine jumped, and Violet hit him on the shoulder.
That night, Violet signalled for Klaus to stay awake. They sat on the other side of her bed, with Sunny sitting on Violet’s lap and biting the handle of a knife, and Violet said, “I need your help with something. I was hoping to wait until Josephine was out of the house, but the dumb bitch never seems to leave.”
“What’s going on?” Klaus asked nervously.
“Josephine’s got a safe hidden in her library.” Violet said simply. Klaus didn’t even react; they expected secrets everywhere. “I’ve been hoping you could help me crack the code. I could invent something to bust it open, but that’d make noise and leave damage and Josephine would know.”
“What’s the combination like?”
“Dial. I think four numbers.”
Klaus considered. “It has to be something she’d remember. But she doesn’t seem too into numbers, just words.”
“We could use the A1Z26 cipher.” Violet said. “But it’d have to be a short word, especially if one of the letters is past i-9, which would make it two numbers.”
“What does she like?” Klaus narrowed his eyes. “Grammar.”
“Cold soup.”
“Not telling us anything.”
Sunny looked up, stopping her biting for a moment, and said, “Ike.”
Violet and Klaus looked at each other, and then smiled a little. “Good work, Sunny.” Violet said. “Let’s go.”
They got up, racing to the library. Violet opened the trick bookshelf quickly, and Klaus knelt by the safe, muttering the numbers for I-K-E. Once he got it, he turned the handle, and the safe clicked open.
“Easy enough.” Klaus said.
“See,” Violet joked, reaching into the safe, “This is why I keep you around.” She pulled out a file, which she flipped open. “Hmm. Photos of her not being a scaredy-cat.” Like in the scrapbook.
Is she jumping out of a plane?”
“For fun.” Violet nodded. “Yeah, she did used to be interesting. What else is in there?”
Klaus looked in. “Sheet music. Box of crackers. This book-thing- oh, hey.”
He pulled out the book, and showed it off to Violet. The title, spelled out very clearly on the large, dark cover, was The Incomplete History of Secret Organizations.
“Okay. So,” Violet pulled Sunny onto her lap, and said, “Is this a good or bad thing?”
“Means she’s in VFD.”
“But she hid it away. Meaning she’s trying to get out.”
“Not good for us, considering what happened when Mother and Father tried to leave.”
“Whazzit?” Sunny asked, confused.
“But it means we’re safe from ankle-snatching bastards.” Violet shrugged. “Listen, if she’s hiding this shit away,” she held up the file, waving it a bit, “It means she doesn’t want to think about her past. We’re safe for the time being. Eventually Mother and Father will get here and then we don’t have to talk to her again.”
Klaus sighed, and then said, “I guess.”
“Well,” Violet groaned, standing up and lifting Sunny with her, “Let’s get back to bed. Aunt Jo said we’re hurricane shopping tomorrow, so maybe we can convince her to get hot food.”
“Not gonna happen.”
“Then we’ll swipe some when she’s not looking and make it ourselves. No biggie. And you, Sunshine, should be asleep.”
Sunny huffed. “Ekaw,” she said, which meant, “But you’re awake.”
“Yeah, but I’m old enough to make bad life decisions. Sleep time.”
The next morning, at the market, Violet and Klaus tried to stick by Aunt Josephine, but she seemed scared of practically everything in the town. It was good that the lakeside was basically empty, or they’d worry about making a scene and attracting unwanted attention. Klaus held Sunny in his arms instead of in his bag, letting her point towards food she wanted- and, when Josephine wasn’t looking, letting her grab something to stuff into his pocket.
Violet kept untying and retying her ribbon in her hair, both bored by the market they had to walk through so slowly and too stimulated by how many aisles of carts they walked past, all with different smells and vendors shouting what they were selling and bright signs and even some which had other, loud noises. Sunny and Klaus were too focused on grabbing what they wanted without paying, like they normally did, that they weren’t noticing how loud everything seemed to be.
“Josephine,” Violet muttered, shoving her ribbon into her pocket and turning back to their current guardian, “Perhaps we could get something to cook for you. Klaus and I know how to make several very quick meals, and as fast as they are, it’s hard to mess them up.”
“Oh, no, no.” Josephine shook her head. “I’m eager to try this recipe for cold lime stew.”
“Nuki,” Sunny said, meaning, “I think I’d rather eat something hot, or bite your arm off.”
“No, no, Sunny,” Josephine said firmly, looking up from her shopping list. “‘Nuki’ isn’t a word. Remember what we said about using correct English. Now, Violet, would you please get some cucumbers? I thought I would make chilled cucumber soup again sometime next week.”
Violet groaned outwardly, giving Josephine the side-eye, and then she moved down another aisle in search of cucumbers. She had no idea where they were- she didn’t know this fucking town!- but likely they’d be around the other vegetables. Things should be organized normally, right? A vender was selling canned soup which would be amazing if she could just fucking cook it. She retied her hair again, wondering if she could take apart the oven and force Josephine to see it was fine. For a few moments, she was so lost in her inventing thoughts that she didn’t look where she was going until she walked right into someone.
“Oh, I’m sorry-” Violet started to stay, and then she looked up, and froze over.
Turning around to look at her, with a shiny gleam in his eye, was a tall, thin man in a blue sailor had and black eye patch covering his left eye, as well as a thick wooden peg leg. But even with the peg leg and the eye patch and the sailor outfit, she could see his shiny eyes and the one eyebrow snaking underneath the patch and the long, bony fingers that drumming on a nearby table, slightly rattling a bottle of olives.
“You.” she breathed.
“Why, hello, dear lady.” Count Olaf said, a strange tone as he adopted some kind of sailor’s accent. “Didn’t see you there.”
His beady, uncovered eye was staring down at her as if she were a brightly wrapped birthday present that he couldn’t wait to rip open. Violet had seen that look before, and she immediately reached for her pocket to grab her knife.
“Violet!” she heard Josephine call behind her, but she didn’t turn, keeping her eyes on the dangerous man in front of her. “What are you doing in this aisle? These people are selling food that must be heated, and you know-”
When she saw Count Olaf she stopped speaking, and for a second Violet thought she’d recognized him, too. But then she smiled, and Violet felt a boiling fury inside her.
“Hello,” said Count Olaf, smiling at Josephine, “I was just apologizing for running into your sister here.”
Klaus and Sunny ran up, then, and Klaus said, “Sorry we wandered behind, we saw- fuck, that’s Count Olaf!”
“Yeah, no shit, Klaus.” Violet said. “Stay behind me.”
Josephine scoffed, and said, “Violet! Don’t be rude!” she gestured to the Count in front of them. “This nice man is clearly not Count Olaf. Look at him! He’s a sailor.”
“Captain Sham, my lady.” Olaf made a bow, and as he did, he shot a sneaky, smug look to Violet.
“Alright, fucker,” Violet pushed Klaus and Sunny back slightly as Sunny hissed, and then she pulled out her pocketknife, flipping it open and pointing it at him.
“Violet!” Josephine gasped, as Olaf stood back up, not concerned. “What did we say about sharp objects?”
“If you’re really a pirate captain,” Violet said, “Then I assume that peg leg is real.”
“As real as I am, miss.” Olaf said. “If you could put the knife away, nice girls shouldn’t be playing with those.”
“I’m not a nice girl.” Violet said, stepping towards him. “So if it’s real, I can just swipe at it with this knife, and there’ll be no leg under it for me to sever off, causing you to bleed out until you tell us where the fuck our parents are, you bastard!”
“Violet!” Josephine nearly shrieked, and she grabbed Violet’s arm, yanking her back. Surprised, Violet nearly swung the knife at her, recovering quickly enough to keep herself from harming their guardian. “I’m sorry, sir, she must be confused.”
“Well,” Olaf said, smiling again at Violet, “Sometimes young girls are like that when they travel too much. I find it’s best to keep them in one place to avoid hallucinations.”
Violet tugged at Josephine’s hand, but Josephine kept a firm grip on her, and Violet groaned as Josephine carefully plucked the knife from her hand and tossed it to the ground. “There. Now nobody can get hurt.”
“Bet.” Sunny said.
“Josephine, that’s Count Olaf! He’s in disguise.” Klaus said. “He’s after us!”
“Now, Klaus, be nice to Captain Sham and don’t play along with your sister’s-”
He turned to Violet, asking with his eyes if he should start crying, and Violet nodded. Klaus then burst into tears, and taking the cue, Sunny did, too.
“Please, Josephine-” Klaus began.
“Oh, now, Klaus,” Josephine released Violet, putting an arm around him. Violet turned to Olaf, as if to rush him, only to see, to her horror and frustration, that while Josephine’s back was turned, he had picked up her knife. He twirled it in his hands, giving her a clear look that dared her to try anything.
“Best be gettin’ the young boy home, miss.” Olaf said, hiding the knife as Josephine turned to him. “Seems the sea air’s done somethin’ to him.”
“I’m very sorry-”
“Captain Sham.” Olaf pulled a laminated card from his pocket, handing it over. The Baudelaires gave him glares as Josephine read it over. “Sailboat rentals.”
Josephine laughed. “Why, Captain Sham! You’ve made a grammatical error.”
“What?” Olaf said, raising his eyebrow.
“It says here, ‘Captain Sham’s Sailboats. Every boat has it’s own sail.’ There should not be an apostrophe over ‘it’s,’ as that signals ‘it is.’ You mean simply I-T-S, ‘belonging to it.’ It’s a very common mistake, Captain Sham, but a dreadful one.”
Captain Sham’s face darkened, and it looked for a minute like he was going to attack; Violet moved to grab Klaus’s hand. But then he smiled and said, “Thank you for pointing that out. Perhaps, dear lady, you can explain more about grammar to me tonight, over dinner.”
“No!” Violet said.
“Now, Violet, please quiet down. Let the adults speak.” Josephine said. She turned back to Olaf and said, “I’d be happy. We could go to that new fried egg place, if you so wish.”
“Wonderful. Where do you live? I’ll pick you up very soon.” He looked to the kids there, and Violet felt like she was going to be sick.
“Josephine, don’t-” Klaus began, through his forced tears.
“Right at the top of the hill.” Josephine giggled. “I’ll go get a new shawl and drop the children off.”
“Yes. They can rest.” Olaf said. “Who knows what could happen to them in the wide open world?”
“Go to hell, bastard.” Violet said.
“Violet!”
“Our parents will beat your ass, and they’ll find us, and you’re going to-” Violet spat.
“Violet, please!” Josephine shook her head and tutted. “Children have no manners these days. If you’ll excuse us, Captain Sham…”
She turned and pulled the kids along with her. Violet shot a hateful glare back at Olaf, who just smiled innocently at her.
Once they reached the house, Josephine said, “I know you children have had quite the terrifying life. But that doesn’t mean you can be rude to kind sailors at the market.”
“That wasn’t a kind sailor! That was Count Olaf!” Violet protested.
“Please,” Klaus sniffled, “Listen to us!”
“Children, go lie down.” Josephine insisted. “Captain Sham must be right, the excessive travel is making you-”
“Did you seriously buy that?” Klaus temporarily snapped out of his fake tears. “That’s ‘female hysteria’ bullshit!”
“Klaus! Go lie down! I will go get ready for dinner.” she paused. “Why don’t I make you all chilled cucumber soup, so that you have something to eat while I’m out?”
Violet took a deep breath, and then spun on her heel and stalked off without another word.
Klaus raced after her, and Sunny asked, “Ato?” which meant something akin to, “What do we do?”
“I’m working on it.” Violet muttered.
“Gui!” Sunny shouted as they made their way into their bedroom, meaning, “How could she fall for that phony disguise?”
“Mother and Father told us often that disguises are an easy way to sneak around simple people.” Klaus said.
“Well, good to know that Josephine is a dumbass!” Violet sat on the bed, and pulled out her ribbon, tying her hair back as tight as she could. She took a deep breath, and thought.
She remembered, when she was about eight, her Mother had sat her down and tried to help her figure out better ways to manage her anger, after she’d punched a kid who threatened Klaus at the playground. One of the things that had worked was just letting her inventing mind go off on plans, keeping her focus on different ideas instead of on the first impulse to attack. She clasped her hands together, sitting cross-legged, and keeping her eyes shut, even as Sunny crawled onto her lap.
Klaus sat beside her on the bed, bouncing the mattress slightly. “Ideas?”
Violet considered what they had at their disposal. The house had little electricity, was situated above a lake… perhaps they could push Olaf through the library window, but he could grab one of their ankles and pull them with him. Josephine didn’t have anything very sharp or heavy… the only dangerous thing around the lake was-
“I have an idea.” Violet said after a minute, smiling as she opened her eyes. “I need you guys to distract Josephine. If Olaf comes, keep him here.”
“What are you going to do?”
“I’m going to get our weapon.” Violet pulled Sunny off of her lap, putting the baby on a pillow, and she stood up, stretching slightly. “What we’re going to do, is we’re going to beg to go to dinner with Josephine and Olaf. We’re so sorry, we made a mistake, we feel so bad for insulting Captain Sham.”
“That’s gonna be hard to fake.”
“We’ll manage. Then at the restaurant, we’ll get him to take us for a walk by the pier.”
“That’s asking for him to kidnap us.”
“Exactly. Once lulled into a false sense of security, as we walk by the ocean, you trip him into the water.”
“So he swims back and strangles us.”
“No, so I throw our weapon at him. In the water, he’ll be helpless.”
“What weapon, Vi? A weight?”
Violet smiled and shook her head. She reached into Klaus’s bag, pulling out a small, glass jar, as well as a small snackbag.
“The Lachrymose Leeches.”

Closure: The Story of My First Love
Ten years.
After 10 long years, I finally had my closure
I guess no one really knew the who, when, where, why and how of my first love.
Who was she?
When did it happen?
Where did I meet her?
How did I fall in love with her?
Why didn’t we work?
This will probably be a long read, so you might as well sit down in a comfortable place when you read this.
I guess, I should probably start from the beginning of my story.
I met my first love when I was on 5th grade. Funny, right?
"How can you say that you fell in love already at that age?", you might say.
She was just a transferee from who knows where. At that time, I never knew that she'd be one of my first and most painful heartbreak. I was so... innocent.
As THE friendly student, I always tried to be close with everybody. And surprisingly, when I met her, we got along really well.
She was such a crybaby, as far as I can remember. But, when she cries or when she gets mad, everybody shuts up and listens to her. Badass.
You see, I was raised strictly by my parents. I always had to focus on my studies, even after class. I rarely slacked off at home. I was always serious about examinations and studying.
But, when I met her, I learned how to loosen up. She made me see things in a way that I've never seen that way before. She made me appreciate all these little things, around me. She made me realize a lot of things. When I'm with her, I felt like I was myself the most. It was fun, having her around. She was always at my back, observing. She was the Hinata to this Naruto. LOL.
It was by the end of the 5th grade when I 'accidentally' knew she had a crush on me. I was visiting a friend of mine at lunchtime when I heard someone arguing at the visitor's area. When I went inside, I saw her infront of one of her friends, confessing that she has feelings for me. Her friend was teasing her and she was tearing up already. Right then and there, our eyes met, and she immediately cried, shouted and ran away from us. It was so funny... and cute at the same time; I thought.
No one has ever had a crush on me. Not ever. Or at least, told me they did. I always thought there were better... more good-looking guys than me. Why the hell would she ever had a crush on me? At that time, I was very blind and in denial.
After that event, everything became awkward between us. We rarely talked with each other. She always avoided me whenever I tried to talk with her. It was cute. Very cute.
It was not until the 6th grade when we started texting with each other. We talked, and talked. For hours. Every night. I remember using my mom's phone to text with her so I had to be sneaky as fuck.
I think my mom had an idea, because at one point, she caught a flirt-y-ish text she sent. She asked me later if I have a crush on someone from my class. I straight up denied my feelings and told her I wasn't 'crushing' on anybody.
Maybe I was scared. Until now, maybe I'm still a scaredy-cat. I never had the guts to tell my mom that time that I had a crush on someone, mainly because I thought of it as a distraction to my studies.
And still, after graduation, I asked her out.
"Do you want to be my girlfriend?"
This boi rushing.
So, guess what happened?
She laughed.
She just... laughed. And completely changed the topic. But, I never gave up. She said she wasn't ready for that. So, I made a promise with her. Cheesy as it may be, I told her my heart will always be hers. I even went as far as telling her, 10 years from that day... if she's still single, I would marry her.
Have you ever had that feeling? That rush. That strong beat from your heart, shouting: I want to be with her. So bad. I want to be there when she laughs. Or when she cries. I want to see her happy every time.
Is this what having 'butterflies in your stomach?' felt, I asked myself.
I was at the edge of the cliff... ready to fall. Ready to fall in love. But, she held me back. She pushed me back, rolling down the hill, and into a deep, dark, and cold sea. Eventually, things got cold between us. We entered high school, trying to forget what he had.
Fast forward to first-year high school. She and I were in the same class. There were a lot of amazing transferees, competing to be top of the class. Typical Asian setting.
The pressure to be at the top was immense since majority of the students who were in that class were elementary achievers. Valedictorians, salutatorians, and honor students. I was very occupied that year.
Throughout that year, she had a "friendly" relationship with this guy who I think had a crush on her. I could smell his intentions, reeking from his enormous nose. I'm sorry dude, if you are reading this. Hahaha. But I doubt that.
I was really jealous of him. She was blind about it.
He held her hands all the time, even when they're next to each other in class. She leaned on him, whenever she took a nap. They hangout after class before they go home. Go to recess together. They might as well kiss when they see each other first thing in the morning.
*sighs*
I think I did confront her about it, but we only ended up fighting. I convinced myself I was just terribly infatuated with her. The year ended, and the guy she was with left our school for personal reasons. I didn't care.
Summer 2013. I got a text from her. She was going to see her mom for a long time. We started texting each other again. It was only a matter of days when I found myself, falling for her again. You fragile motherfucker.
My shield was up. I'm clothed with armor. And she freaking drops good morning and good nights like freaking nuclear bombs.
Up until now, I've kept all of her texts in my old Nokia phone, that I can't charge anymore. I should probably get that deleted.
I saw her pictures online that summer. She looked so happy. She was an angel.
An angel of death, I mean.
I was so excited to see her on the first day of class.
I felt like my heart would burst the moment I see her.
*Kriiiiing kriiiiing*
The school bell rang. But, she didn’t show up that morning. I can overhear her close friends asking each other where she was. Maybe she didn't plan to go to school today, or maybe she wasn’t still here. I thought.
The morning classes continued that day and I couldn't help myself but think about her. I almost gave up from thinking about her when one of our classmates shouted.
Our classmate was looking at our school gate, screaming her name. She was late. Verrrrrrrrrrry late.
Everyone in our class stood up and looked outside the window. She was running across our school court towards the room. And when she entered the room, her friends came running towards her. Her best friend gave her a solid hug. I think she gave each and every close friend of hers a hug. She greeted everyone... except me.
Heh.
She didn't even look me in they freaking eye. I... couldn't approach her. The teacher tried to take control of the class, and our class resumed.
I think it was days after that, before we started talking again. But, it was just casual talk. Dull. Very dull. "Isang tanong, isang sagot" [One question, one answer], as we call it here in the Philippines.
I was so frustrated. I couldn't understand her.
Whyyy? I mean... whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy???
I think it was three or four months after that when I learned that she was going out with someone, again. This time, she was going out with the cousin of the guy she called her "guy bestfriend" from first year. He was in our class, too.
This time, their relationship was very discreet. Everyone in our class knew. It was like a big slap in my face. I was beyond creepy at that time. I lowkey look at them sometimes when no one's watching me. Getting more jealous each passing time.
I was already thinking dozen of ways how to kill that guy. I was filled with... rage. I even fought the guy, over her. Now that I'm thinking of it, it was quite hilarious. I kept on telling the guy that she and I were in love with each other, but then he argued if we were really into each other, then why was she with him? And I... didn't know the answer, too. I stepped back. At that point, I asked myself.
Do I really look like just a rebound to her? Maybe I am.
Was she just using me? Maybe she was.
I was so confused. I thought we had something. Right then and there, I decided to give up. And move on.
Months later, they broke up. I didn't bother knowing why.
My friends kept on telling me to move on.
"Babae lang yan." (It's just a girl), they said.
But, she wasn't JUST a girl to me.
To me, she was indispensible.
Irreplaceable.
She was one of a kind.
I fear that I may never be able to find someone like her.
But, I had to. I had to start moving on.
The school year ended. We barely talked with each other. The only time we had interaction were during group works. And we had to be 'professional' about it. I was. And she was, too.
There were times when we had to do a stage plays. We often played as a broken married couple. There would always be a scene where we would fight each other. Typical husband-abuses-wife scene. She would cry. She was great at that. Convincing. It seemed like it was almost true when she cried. Everyone got swayed by her acting. And then, she would slap me. Really hard.
As an actor, of course, I had to be professional about it. But damn. Her slap stinged. It was as if it was filled with sadness... and anger. And I liked it.
Don't think weirdly about it. Haha. I didn't like-like it cause I was masochistic.
I liked it cause it was less painful.
It was less painful than what I was feeling deep inside. At least with her hand on my face, even for just a millisecond, I felt a response from her. She never replies or replied to my texts that year the way she did years ago.
You see, a slap in a face would sting. A strong slap in the face would make your head numb for seconds. But her slap... her slaps made my numb heart beat.
We completely ignored each other throughout 3rd year. Hell, I couldn't even remember a single memory of her that year. We never interacted beyond necessary.
Whenever I heard her name, it rings through my ear and into my heart, then pierces it like needles for acupunctures. And trust me, it wasn't therapeutic.
Summer 2014. Our high school life was nearing to an end. It was during this time when I started to reflect on the things I did during my high school year. And one of the things that I would say I wanted to resolve was my messy ‘relationship’ with her.
So... I started texting her again. I called sometimes. And, we talked about it. I even remember a time when my cousin caught me crying in their bedroom cause we were confessing and all that romantic shit. I looked like shit, I think.
I re-confessed my feelings for her. She reciprocated. And that time, I asked her... again. The same question I asked her 4 years ago to that day.
"Do you want to be my girlfriend?"
Guess what?
She laughed.
And then... she said yes.
My heart skyrocketed.
I couldn't comprehend what she just said. I feel like I was the luckiest guy in the world at that time. But, you'll probably get mad at me because of what you'll be hearing next.
After one week, I broke up with her.
Until to this day, I still didn't understand myself why I did it.
Was I trying to play her? No.
Was it because the thrill of the chase was over? No.
Was it because I wanted to hurt her? Maybe.
I couldn't explain myself. I kept on excusing myself with questions like: "Was everything worth it?" "Is she serious about this?" "What if everyone knew?"
Was I scared? Yes.
Did I think things through before doing it? Maybe not.
But, it is what it is. Of course, she got mad. I broke up with her two weeks before classes started. Unfortunately, we got separated into different classes on our senior year. And on one occassion, we confronted each other and said face-to-face that we didn't have feelings with each other anymore. But, I lied.
Seeing her rarely helped me forget about her every now and then. I eventually learned that a lot of guys were courting her, but I barely cared anymore.
Barely.
Seeing her, after I took a step back, it made me realize what a fool I am for letting her go.
Well, her friends did tell me to distance myself from her, if I couldn't commit. So I did. I think I wasn't ready for commitment that time. I was too preoccupied. Maybe I didn't want to be with anyone that time. I don't know. But I was an asshole for popping that question if I was that unsure.
Graduation day, her mom came back from Canada. I learned that she was going to be visiting Canada soon. And by visiting, she was going to take a VERY long vacation.
So, on the day of my birthday, I invited all of my classmates to my grandma's house to celebrate my graduation, too. I wanted her to come.
Almost all of my friends and classmates went, but she didn't show up.
It was nearly 7 ‘o clock in the evening. I called her. She said her mom was preparing for them to leave already and that she was busy.
She hung up on me.
I had no choice. I had the courage and audacity to call her mom, and invite her to come. I really wanted to see her.
(The reason why I have contact with her mom is a long story. But, we were close. I think. Hahahaha.)
Past 7PM, they showed up. Her parents met my mom and my family. And then, we left the scene to the rooftop.
My little cousins were playing around us. Observing. Meddling. They were curious who she was. I never brought any girl to our house before. And no girl has every visited our house past 7PM.
We ate supper. It was almost romantic, if only my cousing weren't there.
Eventually, they left us.
She was silent. I was, too. The lights were dim that night, but her face glimmered below the starry sky night. It was a very good night. I didn't see any clouds. I was so nervous.
This was the first time I was ever with her... alone, and no one watching.
Just the two of us.
I didn't know who would make the first move? I thought of talking, but I didn't know where to start. I didn't know what to say. I just looked at her, and she looked at me.
Right before I was about to start talking, my mom called us. They told me they need to leave already. I didn't get the chance to talk with her. Or even talk things properly.
They left that night, with me... hanging again... on a forgotten promise.
A year later, I was in college already. And we still talked with each other when she went to Canada. I kept asking her when is she coming back. She always lied about it. She never went back.
Throughout college, I still dreamt of her sometimes. Wishing she was back. But, I eventually forgot about her. There were a lot of times when she and I had "withdrawals".
Sometimes, I would tell her I miss her, and then she would leave me on seen. There are other times when she asked me if we still had a chance. And sometimes, we end up wondering on each other’s ‘what ifs’.
We couldn't seem to end our relationship.
Who knows? Maybe it was still possible.
But, she really broke me. She messed me up. I find it hard to find someone new, because I always assume that things would end up the same. Sometimes, I think I'll never love the same way again.
Two months ago to this date, I was really having a bad day. A bad week, even. Or maybe a bad month. This corona thing messed up my plans for the year. I mean, cmon... it messed up everything for us.
So, I was back in my apartment, resting... all alone. My roommate has gone home to our province, and I was spending my time alone. She messaged me on Facebook. I was pleasantly surprised. And I immediately told her, I wanted to video call her. Surprisingly, she said yes. It was midnight where she lived and it the sun was high here.
I called and she answered. She didn't look like what she looked like before. It was a very long call. We talked for hours, reminiscing about our relationship. What I did wrong. What she did wrong. What she really felt. What I felt about it. I even played her a song. Some of it were our favorites:
'Simpleng Tao' by Gloc 9
'We Could Happen' by AJ Rafael
'Girl Running Around In My Dreams' by Tyrone Wells;
and many more.
I had fun talking with her.
In the end, we talked about what mattered the most that time. Accepting that we have held onto something that can never happen anymore. At least at the moment. We decided to stay friends now, and I talk to her every now and then.
Looking back, I can say I learned a lot from that 'relationship'. And it's something that I wouldn't forget even to my death bed. I hurt her a lot. What we talked about for the rest of that day shall remain a secret for me and her.
If there's one thing I learned that I would like to share it would be:
“If you feel like you saw that special someone already, don't be afraid and seize the moment. Don't waste another time of yours of not being with that special someone.”
If you're still reading this to this point, thank you for listening to my story. You probably had a lot of time to kill. Well, I wrote this for myself anyway so I can look back at something in the future.
There were probably a lot of details I missed from the whole story. This was just my story, after all.

Read All About It - An Ace/OC fanfic
Chapter 2 -
It had been three weeks since Ashina had joined him on the ship. She wasn’t part of his crew, but she was sticking with him until she could meet back up with her own. She communicated with another female she called K every few days through a small transponder snail. Three weeks, and he didn’t know much more about her than her name, that she liked to lay in the sun, she didn’t eat much, and that, according to Saber, her coloring was striking.
At the first island they reached, she had departed off on her own and he wondered if he’d ever see her again. She’d surprised him by already sitting on the deck of the Spadille when he boarded, a backpack full of clothes beside her. At the second island, she surprised him again by showing off her haki infused hand to hand combat. She was deadly without a weapon, she was downright frightening with a sword in her hand. Oh, she was left-handed too, which came as a deadly surprise to a few pirates and one bounty hunter.
He slept with the crew while she occupied his bed at night. The idea was driving him crazy. Ace was no virgin, but he’d never had a woman occupy his thoughts like Ashina did. He didn’t care about women, he was supposed to focus on his dreams, but she occupied his mind. The new clothes didn’t help. She’d been pretty in brown pants and the loose white shirt, but she was striking in the pair of black shorts she had become so fond of wearing.
His eyes followed her now as she walked across the deck to lean on the railing, her own eyes on the horizon as the sun sunk into the ocean. The colors of the sunset made her hair look like a flame. The bold red glinting with hints of orangey-golds in the light. Her hair was long, falling in gentle waves down to the small of her back.
She crossed her booted feet, drawing his attention and Ace let his gaze follow the path of her long, toned legs from her feet all the way up to her hips. Ashina was slender, of average height, and her curves were natural. Her breasts weren’t as large as most women that he encountered. He imagined they’d be a good handful though.
Damnit. He couldn’t be thinking these thoughts. He shouldn’t be thinking them. As if sensing that his mind had traveled down a dangerous, dirty road, Ashina turned her head to look at him over her shoulder.
A soft grin graced her lips before she turned back to the sea.
“You should talk to her,” Deuce said from beside him, too quiet for her to hear them. “Not just stare.”
Ace grunted, not wanting to admit that he did stare. A lot. She was beautiful, any man with good eyes could see that, and several of his men talked about it. She was all tanned skin, gentle curves, long legs, red hair, and those shocking green eyes. They were liquid emerald and as deep as the sea.
“Go, scaredy-cat,” Deuce teased, nudging him with his elbow.
“I’m not scared.” Ace huffed out. He wasn’t scared of her, not unless she was angry, but it did take him a moment to work up the nerve to stand up. He crossed the deck and leaned against the rail a few inches from her. He wasn’t even sure what to say to her, so he kept his gaze on the sea.
“You’ve made quite the name for yourself,” Ashina said. “High bounty for a rookie, eighty million beri.”
“I’ve never seen your face on a wanted poster. You got a bounty?”
“No. I do my best to stay incognito. After that failed mission I supposed they know my face now.”
Ace frowned. “I am sorry about that. That you got separated from your crew because of me.”
“It wasn’t all you. I wanted to find what I was looking for. I should have aborted mission when the alarm sounded. Besides, it really wasn’t a failed mission. I retrieved what I came for, I just can’t get it back to my boss until we meet up again.”
“When will that be?”
“Saboady.”
“Who’s your boss?”
Ashina smiled and turned her head to look at him. “I’m a Revolutionary.”
Ace sputtered. “You work for Dragon?”
Ashina chuckled, soft and low. “Yes. I found my way to the Revolutionaries when I was fourteen. Four years later, here I am.” She was silent for a moment, turning her eyes back to the sea. A gentle smile still played on her lips. “Do you have a dream, Ace? A goal? Why’d you become a pirate?”
“To be free. Make a name for myself.”
“Pirate King?”
She watched him from the corner of her eye as Ace laughed.
“One day, after everyone knows my name and has learned of my strength. It’s my brother’s dream too, so I guess I’ll have to fight him one day too.”
“You have a brother?” she turned, leaning her hip against the smooth wood of the ship, and facing Ace.
“Younger yeah.” Ace about faced and leaned back, propping his elbows up on the rail. “Luffy. Not by blood, but he’s my brother. We grew up together.”
“Doesn’t have to be blood to be family.” Ashina turned her head to look out at the sea. The sun had almost set below the horizon and the sky was getting darker.
“You have a sibling?” Ace asked.
She turned her eyes back to him and shook her head. “No. Just me. A few friends in the Revolution. So, tell me about Luffy.”
“Captain!” Mihar, yelling from the quarter deck, caught his attention. He waved an arm, motioning for Ace to join the group of men. “Captain!” he shouted again.
He turned to say something to Ashina, but she was already gone from his side.
.
.
.
It was late. Ace was tired. And sore. Sleeping in a hammock sucked. He missed his bed, but he didn’t dare resend his offer to Ashina. He was also tired of staring at the maps on the desk, and trying deciding the best course to take.
“Oh,” Ashina said from the doorway as she stepped into the room. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were in here. Mihar said you’d gone to the kitchen. I’ll come back.”
“No. No. It’s okay.” Ace stood quickly, making the chair topple over in his haste. He quickly caught it, just before it hit the floor and shuffled around to slide it back into its place under the desk.
Ashina giggled. “Are you sure? This is your room.”
It was his room, but her pack of things sat in the corner near his trunk. An extra pair of boots she’d picked up two days ago sat carelessly at the foot of the bed. The room even smelled like her now.
Ashina walked further into the room, closing the door behind her. Even though it had been closed prior to her entrance Ace gulped, unsure of her actions. Unsure of her in general.
“You can stay, Ace. I’m not running you out of your own room.”
He stood there awkwardly as she toed out of her short leather boots. The loose over-shirt she wore came next, leaving only her shorts and a thin, pale blue tank top.
She tossed him a look over her shoulder, a smirk on her lips. “Enjoying the show?”
Shit. Shit shit shit. Ace about faced, staring daggers into the wall. He was enjoying the show, way more than he wanted to admit.
Ace wanted to touch her. Most pirates would have already tried. Most captains wouldn’t have given up their room, but the idea of turning her out caused images of a fuming Makino to appear behind his eyelids. Ace was raised to have some manners, some small part of him was a gentleman.
“You can turn around,” she said on a giggle.
Ace did turn, slowly, because her voice came from a different location. She was in the bed, legs covered by the blanket. She was wearing a loose t-shirt, one far too big for her frame. It clearly didn’t belong to her, nor was meant for a woman.
Ace, realizing she was clearly ready for bed, and that he was staring again, cleared his throat and turned for the door. “Goodnight, Ashina.”
“Ace, you can stay.”
Ace sputtered, whirling around to stare at her. “What?”
“The bed is big enough for both of us. I’ve slept in plenty of hammocks. They aren’t awful, but a soft mattress is definitely better.”
“But… you… and me… and you’re a – a”
“Girl. Yes, and you’re a boy. Are you scared, Fire Fist?” she was teasing, another smirk playing on her lips and he caught the glint in her green eyes.
Ace straightened, and shook his head. He wasn’t scared. Nervous maybe, the women he’d been with before had been simple one-offs on random islands. None had ever slept in his bed. None had ever stayed on the Spadille for any length of time. He’d known Ashina now for two whole months. She had befriended his crew.
“It’s just sleeping, Ace. Besides, Flame Boy, the air is getting colder and I bet you make a good space heater. The offer stands, you don’t have to leave. Sleep in the bed if you want, or sleep on the floor for all I care. Goodnight, Ace.”
“But the crew will think that we…” he trailed off.
“Fucked?” Ashina supplied, making him choke and sputter again. She smiled at him. “They can think what they want. Make up your mind. I’m going to bed.”
Ace stood there for a moment longer, debating before finally deciding to throw his gentlemanly side out the porthole. He was tired of the damn hammock and Aggie’s atrocious snores. His bed was soft, warm, and calling his name. The beautiful woman in it was just an added bonus, one that he was not going to touch. Maybe. Hopefully his gentlemanly side won out.
Kicking off his boots, Ace shed his hat, shirt, and accessories. He tugged both belts from their loops, but decided to keep his shorts on. Normally he slept nude by himself, but that seemed a step too far with Ashina curled up in the sheets.
Ace slid into the bed, being sure to keep as much space as possible between them. After a few moments a pair of ice-cold feet pressed against his leg.
Ashina hummed. “I was right. You are warm.”
Ace had never cuddled with a woman before. Kisses yes, heavy make out sessions yes, and he’d had sex on a number of occasions. Sex was nice, it felt good, sometimes a bit messy, and it was intimate, but he’d never shared a bed with a woman like this. It was a new level of intimacy that made him nervous. The feelings that were stirring in his chest were foreign to him. She trusted him to do no harm to her. She trusted him enough to close her eyes and fall asleep inches from him. She trusted him.
Rolling to his side to face her, he noticed she was curled on her side as well with her back to him. If her feet were freezing he could only imagine how cold the rest of her felt. He hesitated for a brief second, before tossing the gentleman out the window and snaking a hand over her hip. He was a pirate after all. He pulled her flush to his chest and amped up his body temperature.
She let out a soft squeak of surprise, but quickly relaxed. She shifted slightly, pressing her feet against his shins and her back closer to his chest, and hummed. “So warm,” she breathed.
.
.
.
“You know you really need a cook,” Ashina stated staring at the spoonful of soup she held up in front of her. The food wasn’t bad, but she was no professional cook. Growing up her mother had cooked for her, then she cooked for herself for a while, before she landed with the Revolutionaries and a team of cooks fed everyone meals.
Ace shot her a glance. “You and Mihar do okay.”
“Really? That’s you’re answer. We do okay?”
“Well,” he shrugged. “I used to have to catch my own meat and cook it over a fire myself. Deuce you remember SIXIS?”
Deuce gave an affirmative and chuckled. “I almost killed you.”
Ashina rolled her eyes. “Ugh. At the next island I’m finding us a better cook. Maybe in the mean time you could catch a fish.”
“I can’t swim.”
“Then make sure it doesn’t pull you overboard, Flame Boy.” Ashina gave him a smile and a wink and stood from the long wooden table.
Ace watched her take her empty bowl and spoon into the kitchen, disappearing behind the swinging door.
“So…Cap?”
Ace turned his attention to Saber. “Huh?”
“What’s she like?”
Ace sat there, puzzled. “What?”
“You know… haven’t you? With her?” Saber said, motioning between Ace and the door.
Deuce chuckled. “You’ve been sharing a bed for a week Ace, you mean you haven’t had sex with her?”
When Ace sputtered and blushed Deuce grinned. “What a shame. Mind if I give it a shot?”
The table erupted into laughter when Ace’s shoulder caught fire. He scowled at Deuce. “No. You may not.”
Ashina reappeared and the room fell silent. The flames on Ace’s shoulders disappeared and he looked down at the table. She raised a brow, giving them a puzzled look, before rolling her eyes and strolling through the room to the stairs. “You guys are weird.”
Once she was out of earshot, Aggie said, “Ace, brother, you can’t just say she’s crew.”
“Of course she is.”
Saber chuckled. “Captain, she shares your room. That’s like… having a missus.”
The flames returned, shooting higher in the air than last time, but his cheeks also burned with a deep blush. “We’re not… she’s not... we haven’t even,” he sputtered making the crew laugh.
Deuce clapped him on the back and grinned. “It’s okay, Cap. We like Ashina, she’s cool, and she’d make a good missus.”
Deuce ducked Ace’s sudden punch, erupting in a new round of laughter.
.
.
.
Ashina finished the dishes from the night’s dinner and dried her hands on a rag hanging from the oven door’s handle.
Banshee was no professional cook either, but her time spent at her family’s marketplace food stand had made her a better cook than Mihar and Ashina. Ashina made her way to the top deck. Several of the men, Ace included, were playing cards around a table. She noticed Deuce off to himself, sitting on the deck. His knees were bent, drawn up close to him, and he appeared to be writing in something.
Ashina strolled over and plopped down beside him. “What ya’ doing?” she asked. She stretched her legs out in front of her and crossed her booted ankles.
“Writing.”
“Writing? What do you write?”
Deuce hesitated before answering, “It’s an adventure journal.”
“Oh, cool. So you record the crew’s adventures?”
Deuce was shocked. He waited for the teasing remark to come, but when it didn’t he grinned at her. “Yes.”
“Huh. Doctor and a writer, and a ship builder. Man of many talents. Striker is cool.”
“Yeah. We modified it to work with Ace’s Devil Fruit ability. It’s a sturdy little vessel.”
“How’d you meet Ace?”
“We were both stranded on SIXIS. Ace found the Mera Mera no Mi and split it with me. He got the powers, I just had a piece of fruit. We built the original raft that became Striker and got off the island.”
“So you were his first crew member?”
“Yeah. Spade pirates have come a long way. Soon we’ll be in the New World. Ace is a good captain. Strong, kind, he’s fiercely loyal and protective. Bit of a goofball, and sometimes an idiot. He also tends to fall asleep at the most random times.”
“He’s a bottomless pit when it comes to food I’ve noticed.”
Deuce and Ashina shared a laugh.
“Yeah,” he said, nodding. “He says his brother Luffy is the same way.”
“Damn. Can you imagine trying to feed the both of them?”
Deuce looked horrified, then his face shifted as he grew curious. “I wonder if it’s the D? Monkey D Luffy and Portgas D Ace.”
“Probably. Or they both just happen to be gluttons.”
Deuce and Ashina dissolved into laughter again. They sat in comfortable silence then and Deuce began writing again.
After a while Ashina placed her hand on Deuce’s shoulder, using him as leverage to stand. “Goodnight, Deuce.”
“Goodnight, Ashina.”
The Captain’s cabin was cool and she shivered as the door closed behind her. Ashina crossed the space to her trunk, the one that sat next to Ace’s. She was slowly growing her wardrobe with each stop they made. Some pieces she bought, others she had lifted from less than chivalrous people. Ashina pulled the newest article from the trunk, one she purchased, and then shut the lid. The floral printed fabric was lightweight and soft. She was unsure of wearing the nightgown, but it was longer than the t-shirts she had been sleeping in. It was however, thinner and more revealing than the shirts. The gown had thin straps and dipped low down her back.
Ashina looked to the door, wondering if she should lock it before changing on the chance that Ace should enter. Deciding she did not quite care if Ace saw or not, she toed out of her boots and began to strip off her clothes. She tossed them in the growing pile of dirty clothes on the other side of her trunk and then stretched. The cool air felt good against her naked skin, but she longed for Ace’s warm touch. She wondered if it was his devil fruit ability that made him warmer than the average man. It seemed that some nights he would even amp up the heat if she shivered.
They slept together in the same bed, but other than those few intimate hours of peaceful sleep, Ace kept his hands to himself. Ashina sighed as she pulled the nightgown over her head. The hem stopped mid-thigh. Would the choice to wear the nightgown lead Ace to make a move? She wished he would. He was devilishly attractive with those strong features, gray eyes, and all those hard muscles. She also enjoyed his smile, his laugh, and his strength. Deuce had been right in his description of the Captain. Ace was strong, brave, and fiercely loyal, if not a wee bit reckless and wild.
Ashina wanted more than warmth from him during the night. She wanted to do more than share the bed, but she was hesitant. Would it mess up their dynamics? She was bound to leave the Spade pirates eventually. Once they reached Sabaody she would part ways with Ace and return to the Revolution. If they started something it would only be that much harder to leave later. But if she didn’t take that chance with him… would she regret it?
Ashina grumbled to herself and climbed into the bed. She laid on her back, staring at the wooden boards of the ceiling wishing she wasn’t so damn attracted to Fire Fist. This hadn’t been part of the plan.
She was still staring at the ceiling when he entered the room. Ashina listened, keeping her eyes upward, as he partially undressed. He never slept with his pants off and it made her wonder if he went commando. That idea was hot as hell. She stamped down the feelings of wanting to find out for herself as he slid into the other side of the bed. It was a comfy bed, but not a large one, so there were only inches between them.
Ace moved his arm and Ashina rolled over onto her side, pressing herself against the length of his body, soaking in the warm of his internal fire. She rested her head on his shoulder and his arm wrapped around her. She felt him stiffen as his fingers brushed against the soft material at her lower back, but he relaxed after a moment, letting his hand rest on her hip.
They had become comfortable with this, the contact that was only slightly sexual. It never started that way, but several mornings over the last weeks of sharing a bed they had woken up tangled together, hands in places hands hadn’t been before they’d fallen asleep. Ashina wanted more. As much as it might break her heart when she said goodbye, because surely, she would fall for Fire Fist Ace, she wanted it. Despite all her worries she wanted him. She sometimes felt his eyes on her, when she was on the deck, or eating dinner with the crew. Each time they docked at an island and they separated, she noticed the relief and joy in his face when she came aboard again.
She wondered if he wanted her? Some mornings were awkward when they woke up and Ace had been hard, his length pressed against her thigh or backside. Even if he was only attracted to her sexually, he never made a move. Ashina wondered if under all of his confidence he was nervous to start anything with her. She wondered if it was for the same reasons as her.
Ashina knew she had to leave eventually, and that idea tugged at her heart already and churned in her stomach. While she was here, on the Spadille with Ace, she was going to make the most of her time.
She tilted her head back so she could see him. His eyes were closed, so she studied him. With his eyes closed the thick, dark lashes lay against his freckled cheek. His dark, wavy hair brushed his forehead. The bridge of his nose was straight, his lips soft. The angle of his jaw was straight. Ashina leaned closer and pressed her lips against his jawbone.
Ace tensed under her touch and his fingers tightened around her hipbone. That foreign feeling stirred in his chest again and he relaxed. He enjoyed the feel of her tucked into his side as much as she enjoyed the warmth he produced. She fit well with his crew and she was a strong woman. He knew because he watched her train with Skull on two different occasions, and fight a group of men by herself on another. Her swordsmanship was excellent and she could use Haki to strengthen her kicks and punches. The boys teased him mercilessly about her being his missus. She would make a good partner – strong, smart, and the beauty was an added bonus.
The crew didn’t believe they weren’t actually having sex in this very bed, but only sleeping. He wanted to cross that line, wanted to know what it was like to touch her. He wouldn’t admit that he was nervous though. She would leave him and his crew once they reached Sabaody. The transponder snail had said so a week ago, and they were drawing closer to Sabaody every day. He found himself wanting her to stay more and more each day. The idea of her leaving made him uneasy. Being a pirate was dangerous, but so was being a Revolutionary. If she stayed with him as a pirate he would be able to watch over her.
Turning his head, Ace pressed his lips to her forehead. Her hand that was tucked between them slid across his chest so that her fingers curled over his side. Ace raised the temperature of his fire and she hummed in pleasure, pressing closer. Ace kept his head turned so that his nose brushed against her hair, and he could breathe in the smell of her.

The Travellers have recently settled in Pleasantview at 170 Sim Lane. Whether or not they’ll stay rather depends on how itchy Trent’s feet get. Does he have the look of a man who is about to tell his wofe that they are moving AGAIN?
Tumblr media
He does love his wife, even if their chemistry is practically nonexistent.
Tumblr media
Trisha and Tina head out for work and school, and Trent gets to work on a blocked up toilet.
Tumblr media
And then on his Charisma skill. Is he formulating the best way to convince Trisha that they should live in a campervan?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tina returns from school with disappointing grades (which means anything less than an A+ to the snooty Maxis engineers)
Tumblr media
Whilst Trisha bring Ajay Loner home from work. They look rather cosy don’t they? If I’m remembering correctly they have two bolts of chemistry.
Tumblr media
No child ever looked that happy whilst doing homework. What is Tina really up to?
Tumblr media
Trisha and Ajay work out their sexual tension over the chess table. Can anyone think of any Chess related double entendres?
Tumblr media
The next morning Trent once again makes breakfast, he needs to Cooking skill points.
Tumblr media
And they share a nice family breakfast, literally in the case of Trent who is sharing his partially masicated pancakes with his nearest and dearest.
Tumblr media
Then it’s off to 250 Main Street for Trent to hit the gym.
Tumblr media
He’s feeling epic, just like He-Man after he discovered Money Supermarket.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However he really is quite the scaredy-cat when it comes to the pool.
Tumblr media
Still he and Don hit it off and play Marco Polo for most of the morning. I love that I’d never seen a Sim hide at the bottom of the pool until recently and now I see it all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A quick bite at the on-site diner, with the Unsavoury Charlatan looming over his shoulder.
Tumblr media
And then home just in time to meet Malcolm Landgrabb IV on a long walk.
Tumblr media
After all of that he was tired, so he had a nap.
Tumblr media
Trisha got home and worked on her Charisma skill. I imagine this is her dispassionate assessment of why they won’t be living in a campervan.
Tumblr media
They still had quite a lot of money in the bank so I bought Trent an exercise machine and gave them a study in their thrid bedroom.
Tumblr media
The next morning everyone heads off to work and school.
Tumblr media
I just don’t see how that can be safe to drive in, Trent! That car is brand new and you are going to total it the first time out.
Tumblr media
My predictions didn’t come true though, as Trent drove home with the car intact and a promotion to Relic Liberator.
Tumblr media
Tina was overjoyed to see her father was home safely despite his abject stupidity.
Tumblr media
Tina brought Sofia Baldwin home from school, weirdly enough a lot of my Sim kids have tried to bring her home this round. is she just the most popular girl at school?
Tumblr media
Tina boasts about her dad’s promotion over their chess match.
Tumblr media
And Trent further establishes himself as Tina’s favourite parent over lunch.
Tumblr media
Trisha watches TV in their newly renovated living room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And we finish their round with some adult time. They may not live in that campervan yet, but they have them on their walls.
