The idea that uni protesters are "elitist ivy-league rich kids larping as revolutionaries" on Twitter and Reddit and even here is so fucking funny to me if you actually know anything about the student bodies at these unis. Take it from someone who's going to one of the biggest private unis in the US, 80% of the peers I know are either from the suburbs or an apartment somewhere in America, children of immigrants, or here on a student visa. I've heard about one-percenter students, but I've never met one in person. Like, don't get me wrong, the institution as a whole is still very privileged and white. I've talked with friends and classmates about feeling weird or dissonant being here and coming from such a different background. But in my art program, I see BIPOC, disabled, queer, lower-income students and faculty trying to deconstruct and tear that down and make space every day. So to take a cursory glance at a crowd of student protesters in coalitions that are led by BIPOC & 1st/2nd-gen immigrant students and HQ'd in ethnic housings and student organizations and say, "ah. children of the elite." Get real.

So whose going to tell these people that Elain was friends with the shadow twins before Nesta was friends with Gwyn and Emerie? How are Elain fans copying y’all by talking about her trio when canonically her trio existed before Nesta’s😭?
Seriously though the possessiveness Nesta fans feel over normal things is so…? They’re some of the most envious people in this fandom because how are you gatekeeping friendships? It’s canon that they’re friends. It’s canon that they spend more time with her than her own sisters. It’s canon that they’re friends with her not because they’re getting paid for it but because they like spending time with her (they literally rejected when Feyre tried to give them a raise for helping Elain). Elain’s life does not revolve around Nesta and she does have outside relationships that matter to her. Y’all need to just cope with that.
Like having friends is copying someone now? Please go outside platonic relationships are normal.
And secondly how are you gate keeping a court that already belongs to Rhys😭? “Elain fans try to steal Dusk from Nesta” now how can they steal something from Nesta that doesn’t belong to her in the first place? The Dusk Court/Prison does not belong to Elain or Nesta and it’s already said that even if it’s an 8th court, it still falls under Rhys’ jurisdiction. His blood is the only thing that can open the gates. You’re gatekeeping territory that already has Rhys’ name slapped on it. But you want to talk about fans copying and stealing from other characters?
And it’s funny how people only have an issue with saying another character is going to get Gwydion when it’s Elain. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think she’s going to get it because I’m personally not an “Elain becoming a warrior and wielding a powerful sword” girlie but why is it this big discourse only when it comes to her? Mind you, y’all aren’t even arguing over how her becoming a warrior and getting Gwydion wouldn’t fit her character (which would be valid)…y’all are arguing over her “taking” something from Nesta. Which makes no sense because almost every character is foreshadowed (by this fandom) to wield Gwydion and y’all don’t have as much of an issue with that.
Like I’ve even seen some theories about Nyx, a baby, getting it (because if the High Ruler plot does happen he would be a future High King) and it wasn’t a big deal. It’s like people understand that Nesta did not claim that sword the way she did with Ataraxia until Elain is brought into the conversation. We can make fanart and create theories of every character under the sun with that sword but you better not even think about Elain getting it.
From gatekeeping Motherly relationships, friendships, a court that doesn’t even belong to Nesta, and a sword I think it’s safe to say Nesta fans have officially lost it.

We started rewatching Young Justice recently and all of the "sidekicks" were upset at being treated like children and being kept in the dark and not having access to information and i just?? I don't think Batman would believe in withholding information from Robin
Dick gets into everything everywhere all of the time there is no peace or privacy from him. And Bruce has never dealt with children before how is he supposed to know whats 'appropriate' for a child to know or have access to.
Speedy: it's such bs that they don't trust us with information
Robin: haha what?
Green Arrow: It's hard keeping information from my partner/subordinate but it's for his own good. He's a child and he can't be trusted with that sort of power yet. Do you struggle with Robin wanting access to information he doesn't have the clearance for?
Batman, who's never kept a single secret from Dick and couldn't if he tried: um. yeah. absolutely.

the seemingly well-held saw fandom opinion of “lawrence wanted to go back for adam! he wanted to SAVE him!” is actually fucking crazy sorry. when we’re introduced to larry in the OG saw it’s clear that he only acts out of self-interest not out of anything else— he cheats on his wife constantly and spends late nights out doing so when he has a young daughter at home. larry & adam are compelling as characters because they’re both like, shitty people. adam is scraping together money to make ends meet through whatever seedy ways possible (including but not limited to stalking & photographing weird doctors for $$$) whereas larry has adopted a detached attitude towards his waking life through staying out late to cheat on his wife and neglect his young daughter. and when larry crawls out of his deathbed in saw vii it’s very clear he has an excessive amount of guilt of not going back for adam (even as he promised he would) and leaving him for dead because well. that’s what he did. at best you could say he’s acting on survival instinct and thus it slipped his mind and at worst you can say that he didn’t learn anything from jigsaw’s silly little trap and he still remained a selfish douchebag even as he clawed his way out. even so the guilt still follows him like crazy but regardless of why in the moment he didn’t act, he still didn’t do anything to save adam because nobody did and that’s why adam ended up dying. larry is literally an asshole and left adam to die. Sorry girls.

I have Lily thoughts:
Listening to boygenius and the lyrics "always an angel never a god" stuck out to me. It feels immensely Lily-coded. I characterize her as always being put on a pedestal and being compared to an angel, treated like a porcelain doll. She hates it, but it's the role she's been given and can't change it, so she copes.
BUT. BUT. Barty????? Ooohhhhhh Barty would see her as a god and treat her as such. He would pray on the ground she walks on. He would call her a goddess, kneeling before her and calling her a god. I could see her getting drunk on power sometimes.
He would never call her an angel. Maybe mockingly, but Evan is his angel. This is my Bartylily Bible.
hm.. i totally agree about the boygenius lyrics but i actually feel the opposite way about bartylily! i agree that lily has spent the majority of her life being put on a pedestal in that way, whether she's made out to be The Brightest Witch or someone's Dream Girl, like you said.
bartylily is so special to me because i don't think barty sees her as an angel OR a god, he's the one person who just sees her as a regular fucking person! barty isn't the type to idolize people, especially not anyone as normative & successful & palatable as lily. he thinks she's a fucking dork!! and an annoying hard-ass, and bossy, and he's not afraid to point this out and make fun of her. he likes that she actually has flaws— it's his favorite thing about her.
when someone calls lily perfect, barty rolls his eyes and laughs in their face. and that's exactly what lily would find compelling about him... to me, barty is sarcastically swooning and going "oh lily, you're like a goddess... promise you'll go out with me if I get the quaffle for you?" while she swats at his arm and goes "STOP IT, barty, seriously, you're awful, potter's not THAT bad—" but she's laughing at it, too.
