me, going back over epic superhero crossover and rereading the singular fic i have posted from it and thinking about the thin line trilogy and oh.
....
girl gang > cast of horrors
....
but that version of rose needs to meet junko because i think junko could learn a lot from someone who did to lint what rose did to her.
....
maybe not. junko does just fine scooping out eyes with a curry spoon she's been using to eat. i don't think she needs to learn stuff from rose, actually.
....
also i don't want junko deciding to replace someone's eye with a mystery bomb.
(she absolutely would, though.)

these are so outdated and i spent far more time on these than i should have because i am incapable of making decisions but here are some danganronpa opinion charts i never should have been allowed to come across
Tumblr media
- Best Girl: i literally could not pick so i just slapped on the most iconic one besides ramen waifu, gamer waifu and piano waifu. yes syo/jack is up there on that level i love her
- Best Boy: i’m in love with him he’s terrible enough said (he was tied with gonta though)
- Best VA: hey hey (specifically talking about the english va here btw i loved it whenever she spoke)
- taka i like taka he’s great i just couldn’t think of anyone really fitting this so like picked someone who i’m not in love with like much of the fandom
- i couldn’t pick a sexiest female design either so since i’m in love with her as well
- haiji,,,,i had such high hopes for you but not even pretty privileges can save you know smh
- yes junko is both
- i was gonna put chihiro in the last one maybe? but i haven’t really interacted with the fanbase just heard about it so. idk.
Tumblr media
- Saihara Harem Supremacy
- hiyoko was annoying but she was on the way to improvement (which danganronpa can clearly do just look at fuyuhiko) but then they punted her into the shadow realm so just fuck the potential i guess.
- i put kotoko in saddest backstory first (for obvious reasons) but then i read about mikan’s childhood on wiki and went uh yeah
(i am mainly referring to her childhood here btw not the tragedy, although its part of it, what with junko’s abuse and the brainwashing thing but the whole “should she be blamed for the horrible things she did?” is a discussion for another time, preferably for when i’m not rambling about an outdated trend i put way too much effort into)
Tumblr media
- listen i saw what happened to hajime and the whole world but did i learn? obviously not i just want to pass my damn classes and if i get long pretty hair out of it i’m still winning
- 3 for 3 with hiro and kirumi because i do not like hiro and i am in love with kirumi
- akane is self-explanatory i think
- couldn’t solidly pick a best waifu but i hadn’t shown celeste, aka the legend the queen the icon, any love in these charts so here we are
- i could NOT decide on a best sprite just know that terrified shuichi, ramen kyoko, iconic screaming souda and almost every ibuki sprite is there in spirit
- couldn’t decide (wow surprise!) best husbando either but i love emo boy so. second closest pick was rantaro
- MASTERMIND!SAIHARA SUPREMACY
- i would adore talking to sonia istg it would be so fun

her favorite student
It was just a normal school day, same old same old. I headed to roll call every morning expecting the same words to come out of my teachers mouth about some announcements or school events I know I won't ever go to, I guess I'm just really lazy.
Today was different though, I had a new substitute for history class, I couldn't really care less though, assuming it was just some old clueless teacher who doesn't know what they're doing.
That wasn't the case.
My ears perked up to the sound of my teacher's voice saying it was a new, young teacher.
I was a bit disappointed, hoping I would just have history class as a free period, but since it's a young teacher, I guess they know a thing or two about respect.
The bell rings, signaling the end of roll call, with many people moving to their respective classes.
It was a coincidence I had history first, so I could see the new young teacher.
I waited against the wall with my friend, waiting for everyone to come so the teacher could lead us inside.
I then suddenly heard the tapping of heels in the walkway, it was so loud, but no one seemed to point it out.
I peaked my head out, stunned at the sight.
It was a tall beautiful lady with luscious lavender hair along with a braid on the side supported by a black ribbon with purple eyes complementing her fair pale skin.
She was wearing boots with heels, a black sleek skirt with a white work shirt and a black tie.
God she was so pretty.
After a minute or two, she then signaled my class inside.
We then took our respective assigned seats and sat waiting for her instruction.
"Hello class, as you know, I am your sub for today as your usual history teacher isn't here. Please call me Ms. Kirigiri, and don't hesitate to put your hand up if you need any help."
Her voice is so mesmerizing, I could hear her repeat that sentence everyday, it's unfortunate that we only have her for today.
I swiped those thoughts away, unpacking my back to bring out my book and pen, although a good looking teacher, still boring, same work. Which was.
I was pretty good at history, but a certain question stumbled on me. I didn't want to embarrass myself, but I had to get this work done, I can't handle work not being finished, I needed everything to be finished.
I raised my hand up, Ms Kirigiri then walked slowly up to me.
I eyed her waist and her his, the way it swayed to either side was distracting me too much, I didn't even notice the blush on my face until she spoke up.
"What do you need help with dear?"
She said that with a raspy voice as she slithered her arm onto my shoulder which instantly sent shivers down my spine, which isn't helping as my blush just grew redder.
"I-I uh.. Just need help with this question.."
I pointed at the question I was struggling on, not really expecting the teacher to know, but to my surprise, she was pretty helpful.
She was kind of rubbing the side of my arm, and my shoulders, I don't know If that made me excited or nervous, there wasn't an in between.
She was explaining the process of how to get to the answer, but for the first time, I couldn't really care less. My elbows were on the table, my head resting on my hand as I just kind of stared at her, thinking some really.. Weird thoughts.
She's so mesmerizing, I wanted her to do things to me that I could never say in front of people, even my closest friends.
I forced myself to snap back to reality as I continued onto my work, breezing through and pretty surprised with myself since the working out she explained really helped.
I was way into my work, not noticing the time till Ms Kirigiri spoke up.
"Class, please pack up as there are 5 minutes left till the bell rings for break."
I sighed, thank god it was an early day. I continued packing my back as I stood up and waited behind my chair, having a little small talk with my friends around me.
The bell rang, me and my other classmates went towards the door.
"Ah, sorry. I apologize but may y/n stay back for a while?"
I froze in place, slowly walking back towards the class, my friends waving me by as they say they'll wait for me at their spot.
My breath was shaky, Ms Kirigiri closed and locked the door. She then sat down on her chair, looking at me with her purple eyes. I could never tell what she was thinking about. It sent shivers down my spine.
I was asking myself questions I couldn't answer myself, I was praying to god I didn't do anything wrong to cause the reason for me staying back.
"So uhm.. Ms Kirigiri, Why am I staying back?"
She crossed a leg over another. I could see the grin forming on her face, which made me even more nervous.
"We'll need to talk about your behavior y/n, but first.."
She trailed off, she then uncrossed her legs and used her hand to pat her lap.
"C'mere."
I could see a spark in her eye, it was filled with lust.
I hesitated but I started to walk slowly towards her, carefully sitting myself down onto her lap.
I don't know If I was nervous or excited, I just wanted to get out of here as soon as I can. So I just complied to whatever she's telling me.
"So.. U-Uhm.. What about my behavior? Did I do anything wrong..?"
I said shyly, trying hard to keep some composure.
"My my.. Y/N perhaps you forgot? I've seen the way you were looking at me during class."
My breath hitched, shit.. I never really thought she would have found out or even pointed it out. I really have to think of an excuse to get out of this since I don't want to get in trouble.
"I- er.. I was just making normal eye contact. It's respectful to make eye contact with whoever is speaking."
I sighed, hoping Ms Kirigiri would just let me off now. I didn't want this situation to escalate, but at the same time I didn't really want to leave. I'm sitting on this beautiful lady's lap, who would want to leave?
"Don't act clueless Y/N..~"
I felt her breath against my ear, her hands slowly sliding up my hip towards my waist.
"Ms Kirigiri.. W-What are you doing..? This is so.."
I trailed off, not continuing my sentences at the thought of my wrong wording can make the situation I'm in worse than it already is.
"You owe me an apology y/n."
She whispered against my ear, instantly turning red, her breath was so warm.
"I-I'm sorry Ms Kirigiri.."
She scoffed, her hands tightening around my waist, making me unable to escape her grasp.
"You call that an apology? I'll show you how to apologize properly."
I started squirming whilst on top of her lap, her hands still wrapped tightly around my waist I could barely move.
She then raised me up, putting me back down onto her lap, now looking towards her.
"Since you like eye contact so much, just keep your eyes on me."
I nodded, I have no words to say. I bit my lip in anticipation, awaiting her next move.
She then slid her skirt and her underwear down a little, just enough to let her hardened cock spring free from it's confines.
My eyes widened at the sight of it, it was pretty big, about 7 inches and girthy.
I swallowed hard, this was way too much for me to handle, but something about it just left me wanting more.
I was then snapped out of my thoughts as I felt Ms Kirigiri slide my skirt and underwear off, tossing them to the side somewhere.
It was embarrassing, I was really wet at this point. I felt her staring, it was uncomfortable, but I was getting hot and bothered at this point, the lust and desire was taking over quicker then intended.
"Wet already huh?"
She teased, she wasn't wrong. I could definitely feel myself getting wetter by the passing time, but I didn't want to look down.
Fucking hell, her cock was just calling out my name, it was just standing up right with no contact.
I decided whether to just pleasure myself with the time we have, so I took the chance.
I lifted myself as I positioned myself, my pussy just hovering over her cock. I held onto her shoulder for support, I never knew I wanted this. I never knew I was like this, but fuck, I needed her so badly.
I then lowered myself onto her cock, silently cursing at the sudden pain of something pretty big entering inside.
"Fuck.. Y/N you're so tight."
She said, her voice hoarse and filled with lust.
It was fine, since the pain was slowly turning into pleasure as Ms Kirigiri guided me throughout the way, she was guiding my waist as I was slowly bouncing on her.
I wrapped my arms around her neck as I continued riding her. I was pathetically whimpering and moaning her name out, I couldn't even care less if anyone heard me. I cared more about the pleasure I was receiving more than anything.
"I.. I'm so close ngh- M-Ms Kirigiri..!"
She picked up her speed, basically forcing me to slam myself down onto her. The noises of skin slapping together and moans filled the room, It was getting blurry. I can't even think or say anything without mumbling something incoherent.
"Fuck.. Y/N, I'm close as well.."
A moment later, I came, Ms Kirigiri hadn't come yet, but she was still lifting me and slamming me down onto her cock, but this time more slowly.
She suddenly then pulled out, cumming all over my and her stomach. It was a messy white mess.
I panted heavily for air, I don't know why, but I wanted more.
The last remaining bits of cum stringed from her tip, her cock twitching every time.
"Haah.. You did good y/n, you're free to go if you'd like, you have about 3 minutes of lu-"
I then suddenly pulled Ms Kirigiri's tie, forcing her to be closer to me as our lips crashed together.
It was passionate, gradually getting more needy with each passing second, but then I pulled away.
"Uhm, would it be okay for us to.. Do something like this again..?"
I asked sheepishly, as she looked at me again, those eyes filled with lust.
"Well, perhaps. There's another class coming in here. So how about you hide under my desk for me then?"
I nodded as I hurriedly climbed under Ms Kirigiri's desk, it was a bit cramped, but I doubt whoever passes by can even see me.
A while later, the bell rang, I was still cramped up under my teacher's desk, I heard footsteps and the sounds of talking whilst students entered the room.
Ms Kirigiri talked, introducing herself and sitting back down after the class was busy with their work.
She leaned back on her chair so her eyes could be fixed on me, I gave her the thumbs up signaling I was ready.
She grinned, immediately getting my signal as she slowly and carefully pulled her skirt down, it was a bit amusing that she was already hard again.
She wrapped her hand around the base of her cock, guiding it towards my mouth.
Her tip was pushed against my lips, I reluctantly opened my mouth as I slowly started taking the tip of her cock.
I could barely hear her, but she definitely moaned softly. I knew she was trying hard to suppress her lewd noises in front of her class, which made me smile.
I was about halfway through her cock, bobbing my head up and down at a safe pace.
I gagged as I felt her hand push down the back of my head, forcing me to take her whole, I gagged and let a few tears trickle down the side of my face.
"Fuck.."
She groaned quietly.
I could tell she was close on how much she was tensing up, so I pulled my head away from her and instead used my hand to stroke her.
I grinned as I whispered, "Cum for me Ms Kirigiri.."
It wasn't long until she finally came all over my mouth and chest. It was going to be hard to clean off, but other than that, the pleasure was enough for me to be satisfied.
I looked up at her with a soft smile.
She then grabbed a pen from a drawer and started writing on a piece of paper.
A moment later, she handed me a folded piece of paper.
I opened it as it read, "You're my favorite student."
She was now my favorite teacher.

second best.
tanaka ryūnosuke x reader; tanaka ryūnosuke x kyoko shimizu
genre: angst, heartbreak, cheating
word count: 1.5k
cw: insecurity
She was beautiful. Her silky black hair, perfect nose, nicely framed glasses, and a cute mole on her chin. Anyone could see it, every volleyball team in the tri-state area attempted to get her number. Kiyoko Shimuzu was her name, and you could not help but see the way your boyfriend looks at her.
Tumblr media
The three of you went to school together, since primary. A trio, one would call it ever since the third grade. At recess, kids would say, “It’s no surprise that Y/N, Kiyoko, and Tanaka are all partnered together.” and during a specific game of soccer, you accidentally tripped over the ball and skid your knee. You bit your lip hard, trying not to cry in front of everyone. Your eyes were watery, at the fact that your knee hurt like hell and now everyone was staring at you. To your surprise, Tanaka ran over to you to help you up and guide you to the clinic. When you got there, the nurse sat you down and poured alcohol onto cotton balls. Tanaka offered his hand, and you gripped it lightly, with a slight shade of pink on your cheeks. It was a cute moment until the nurse dabbed onto your joint. Then, you tightly squeezed Tanaka’s hand and screamed some very colorful words. That night, your mom scolded you and sent you straight to your room. While you lay on your bed, you could not help but smile at the event that happened that afternoon. This was the start of your attraction towards Tanaka Ryūnosuke.
Tumblr media
When you got to middle school, puberty started to hit you like a truck. The rapid growth of hormones made your face acne-infested. While everyone told you it was normal, you could not help but question why does Kiyoko’s face not look like this then? Her skin was clear and had a nice dew to it. The amount of money spent on drug store products could buy you a whole store. Acne was inevitable, already eating at your brain, and planting their seed called insecurity. Tanaka would always call Kiyoko terms like, ‘gorgeous’ and ‘goddess’ while you had what- ‘funny’? The summer going into high school, you decided to get medical help. Immediately, you were put on accutane. You did not want to see anyone during that whole summer, especially Tanaka. Accutane made your face very dry, crackled, and forced you to put on chapstick every minute. Locking yourself into your room all summer, made you lonely.
Sometimes, you could hear Tanaka and Kiyoko walk by your house and hear them say, “Has Y/N ever responded to your texts? It’s like she’s a ghost.” Tanaka asked.
“Nope, she hasn’t even answered to get our nails done, she must seriously be ghosting us,” Kiyoko responded.
You tear up at the guilt of ignoring your closest friends, but it’s hard when you’re in love with one of them and envious of the other. You did not want your toxic mindset upheld against them, so you justified that it was just for the best.
When fall came around, it was back to school. Your first year. The Accutane, though traumatizing, worked. In addition, being trapped in your room all day introduced you to makeup. Looking in the mirror, you actually started to like what you saw in the mirror. You’ve learned self-care and it paid off. Scanning the sheets on the wall, it looked like Tanaka was in your class and Kiyoko was in the honors one.
“Class 2-B” you read aloud to yourself and sat down at a desk. You left the one seat open next to you, just for Tanaka. When you saw him walk in, your heart skipped a beat. He looked different, in a good way. His hair was shaved, taller, and looked more mature. When you waved over to him, he just glared at you and sat at the seat farthest from you. This made your heart drop. Why was he acting like this? Did I do something? Does he not want to be my friend anymore? Questions rambling in your head. During lunch, you headed over to his desk and pulled the chair behind you to sit down. He just stared at you intently, furrowing his brows signifying anger.
“Ryo-channn, look what I brought,” you gleefully rang, knowing that he would never in a million years refuse your mom’s onigiris. When you took out your bento, you grabbed the onigiri with your hand and put it near his mouth. Still looking at you angrily, he took a bite from the onigiri in your hand and looked away from you.
“What’s wrong?” you worried. He did not respond, so you asked again. “You can’t just act like I don’t exist Ryo, especially if you’re eating from my invisible hand.”
“That’s funny, me acting like YOU don’t exist when you ghosted me for three months? I thought we were best friends, Y/N.” Now, you finally understood why he was so upset. Before you could speak up, there was a knock at the entrance, “Ryo, want to grab lunch together?” Kiyoko said in a monotone voice. It seems that Kiyoko too was also mad at you. You could not help it though, you and Kiyoko were basically sisters up until that summer. “Yeah, let me grab my stuff,” Ryo picked up all his belongings and left you in the dust.
That day, you waited for both of them after practice. Kiyoko was a manager and Tanaka was on the team. Two birds, one stone. When they walked out together, they both saw you. Murmuring to each other. You took a deep breath, “Listen, I’m sorry for not texting you guys back and not spending time with you during the summer. I-it’s just that I felt so i-insecure with myself, I didn’t want to bring you guys down with me y’know?” Tears started welling up in your eyes, you continued, “I would hear you guys talk about me when you passed by my house, and it took everything I had to not just run out and hug you guys. But, I couldn’t. I hated myself for the longest time and I was scared that you two would start to notice it. So, I understand if you don’t want to be friends anymore, but you guys needed an explanation.” You sighed and started to turn around and leave. You fell to your feet, with two bodies tackling you down. “G-guys?” your eyes are still watery. Laughter emitted from their voices, “Don’t do it again or else we will kill you,” Kiyoko threatened.
Tumblr media
It was the final set, both teams were tied. Yamaguchi was serving and Aoba Johsai hit it back with ease. The rally probably lasted around a minute, but to everyone, it was slowed down. Until, Tanaka passed the ball to Kageyama, and everyone thought he’d set it Hinata. Instead, he setter dumped. The crowd was silent, not realizing what just happened. Karasuno just won the preliminaries. Every student screamed and chanted at them. You and a couple of other people ran down to congratulate. You ran up to Tanaka’s arms and squeezed him. He swung you around joyfully, and you pulled your face back. There was a moment where it felt like it was just the two of you. The adrenaline of winning finally got to you, and you impulsively kissed him. It lasted maybe around a second or two before you finally realized what you were doing. Mortified, you were rambling with apologies.
“Can you please just forget this ever happen-” he cut you off. Warm lips were pressed onto your lips. You were shocked at first but slowly sunk into the kiss. This was the start of your relationship with Tanaka Ryūnosuke.
Kiyoko never spoke about her feelings about her best friends dating. In fact, she hated it. But it was out of character for her to be so opinionated. She could not stand the fact that you guys would cuddle during movie night nor how he would hold your hand during the walk home. She did not necessarily like Tanaka that way, but she did miss the attention he gave her. Who wouldn’t want someone calling you pretty 24/7? And to reject them was a power move. No one would ever know, but he was the reason why her confidence shot up. The confidence to reject handsome men on different teams. All started because of Tanaka. Although, now that he was with you, the flirting stopped. She could feel herself start to become jealous and it started to infect her brain. During practice, Yachi would gush about how cute you and Tanaka were while Kiyoko just had to listen.
“Y/N is too cute,” Yachi cheesed. Kiyoko couldn't take it anymore, “Listen, I am way prettier than Y/N and Tanaka could do much better” it just slipped out. She was surprised at what she just said, and even more surprised that she didn’t even feel an ounce of guilt.
“Like you?” a voice appeared. It was Tanaka. “R-Ryo,” she muttered. “We should talk outside.”
Once they were both outside, Tanaka spoke first.
“You don’t get to do this. You rejected me countless times and now t-that I’m with someone you can’t just profess your feelings for me.” Tanaka hissed.
“I-I know, it’s just- I didn’t realize what I had until I lost it. Imagine how I feel seeing you guys together, the man I love with someone else. Someone who is inferior to me.” Tears welled up in Kiyoko’s eyes.
“Do you even hear yourself right now? Love? Please. You don’t love me. You never will.” He bit his lip sharply.
Silence.
“Then look at me and tell me you don’t love me. Because not once have you said that you didn’t feel the same way, you only said that you were dating Y/N” Kiyoko sobbed.
“You know I can’t do that,” Tanaka whispered. Then, Kiyoko leeched on him, pressing her lips against his. He wasn’t kissing back, but he wasn’t pulling away either. He was conflicted. He was too dazed and decided to just give in.
Little did they both know, there you were watching at the scene. Well, now you were hiding behind a wall, peeking at them, kissing. You could physically hear your heart-shattering. After wiping the nonstop tears flowing on your face, you left.
Tumblr media
Grief turned into anger. You threw every picture, gift, and sweater into the trash bag. Your eyes only saw red. Your room was left bare and cold. The bedroom door knocked in a rhythmic beat that only one person did. When he walked in, his eyes gazed at every spot in your room. It was empty.
You looked down at the ground, “I always knew I was second best in your heart.” You whispered, tears threatening your eyes. “What?” His face contorted in a confused stance. “I should’ve seen it coming y’know? But I just thought maybe— maybe he’d pick me.” You continued. He started getting worried, “What’re you talking about?” The fact that he was here, blatantly lying to you, gives you all the answers you needed.
“Please don’t act like that, not with me”
“Act like what?”
“Clueless. Ry-Tanaka,” you corrected yourself. “If you love her, then go for it. But don’t act like you’re still in love with me. It hurts-” Your voice broke mid-sentence.
“It was a mistake,” He pleaded.
“A mistake? No, mistakes happen impulsively. T-This whole thing with Kiyoko was premeditated. All my life, I have been trying to compete with her. Grades, appearances, and even you. And when I had you, I thought, I had won. I won the best prize ever. You. But now-” You dropped to your knees, “I don’t even have you.”
He wiped your tears with his hands, “But you do, you do have me,”
“No, no I don’t,” you denied.
“Yes you do baby, I’m right here. I choose you.”
You were not some decision, you were his girlfriend and yet, he thought that would make you happier. “Nonono, you don’t get it. I don’t want you anymore. These tears aren’t for you, they’re for me. Seeing you kiss Kiyoko? I felt nothing and that scared me. Maybe I wasn’t in love with you, maybe I just wanted to beat Shimizu that bad. Who knows? But, by the looks of it, I did win. I got to you first.” You punctuated every word, prying his hands off your face. Of course, you were lying your ass off. You’ve loved this man ever since that day in recess. Revenge had poisoned your heart though, and you wanted him to feel an ounce of you were feeling.
“We’re done. There I have let you go, now you are free to do anything you want with Kiyoko. Date her or reject her, it’s not my issue anymore.” Tanaka couldn’t even recognize you anymore. Though it was your voice and your physical look, it was like your soul had been drained, and in replacement was someone who was cold and emotionless.
Tumblr media
A/N: I’m back! I’ve fixed my writing style so everything is capitalized properly. Requests are greatly appreciated! Just shoot a message. Also, this story was inspired by my drabble and a person actually asked me to write one for Tanaka, so here you go @aestheticno !
likes & repubs are greatly appreciated. :D

*snore!*
*Kuripa and Makoto practically fall into a deep sleep before their heads can hit the pillow that night. Combined with the satisfaction of being able to see Kyoko, combined with the adrenaline rush of having escaped from capture wearing off, they are more than happy to collapse on their mattresses and fall into a deep slumber.
Tumblr media
Ah...
*Meanwhile, outside, Iroha, Kana and the other staff members of the cabaret are getting ready to leave for the night.
Tumblr media
Good work tonight ladies. I’ll see you later. Make sure not to waste all your money on a good time!
Tumblr media
We won’t!
Tumblr media
Thanks Mr Ouma!
*They all cheerfully skip away.
Tumblr media
Haha.
Tumblr media
Hm?
Tumblr media
...
*Kokichi suddenly feels a disturbance behind him. He turns around, and sees a figure in the darkness.
Tumblr media
...!
*The figure rushes across the other side of the road, stumbling a little bit before running into the back alley.
Tumblr media
Hey! Hey, who’s there!?
*Kokichi follows the figure, suspicious that it might be an enemy.
Tumblr media
Huh?
*He enters the alleyway and sees no sign of the figure...In the middle of the alley however, are a pair of red high heels.
Tumblr media
High...heels?
Tumblr media
...!
*While he is distracted, the mysterious figure sneaks through the doors to the High Roller.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...zzzz
Tumblr media
*snore!*
Tumblr media
...
*As this whole ordeal goes on, Kuripa and Makoto don’t stir from their sleep. The figure makes their way up the stairs and into their bedroom.
Tumblr media
...
*They approach Makoto, and reach out a slender hand towards him...!
Tumblr media
ngh...?
Tumblr media
HUH!?
Tumblr media
!!!??
Tumblr media
Who the hell!? JUNKO!?
Tumblr media
*THUD!*
Tumblr media
UGH!
Tumblr media
HUH!?
*Makoto grabs the figures wrist, but they grab his arm and pin him the floor with his hand behind his back!
Tumblr media
WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!? DON’T MOVE!
Tumblr media
DAGH!
*Kuripa grabs his sword next to him and locks it around the intruders neck. Hearing the commotion, Kokichi comes rushing in, weapon in hand.
Tumblr media
Calm down! It’s me!
Tumblr media
Huh?
Tumblr media
What!?
*Kokichi suddenly hits the lights in the room, and the figure is seen more clearly.
Tumblr media
It’s me! It’s me!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both: MUKURO!?
Tumblr media
Muku-who?
Tumblr media
How did you get here!?
Tumblr media
What the fuck are you wearing!?
Tumblr media
H-How did you find us here?!
Tumblr media
What the fuck are you wearing...?
Tumblr media
Sorry...just...give me a little time to explain...I understand this wasn’t exactly a welcoming reunion but...
Tumblr media
I’m not here to hurt you. I just needed to make sure you were ok.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here. It’s not exactly breakfast, but it’ll keep you going until morning time. Can’t have a strategy meeting on an empty stomach.
*Kokichi leaves and comes back with some fast food chicken and fries. Kuripa in particular wastes no time chowing down.
Tumblr media
So, I won’t butt in or anything, but...can I just ask who you are?
Tumblr media
My name Mukuro Ikusaba. I’m a soldier and bodyguard for the Branch Chief of Branch 14 at the Future Foundation.
Tumblr media
Which would be me if the circumstances weren’t so unfortunate.
Tumblr media
A soldier eh?
Tumblr media
Well, to an extent. My days in fighting in wars are over.
Tumblr media
Yeah, now it seems she takes to the town pretending to be her bitch of a twin sister.
Tumblr media
I’m sorry alright. I had to make sure I didn’t get caught when I headed out.
Tumblr media
Junko’s outfit is the closest thing I have to a disguise. The gyaru look to it lets me blend in with night-time party goers.
Tumblr media
Alright. Well, enjoy your meeting. Thanks for dropping by Ikusaba-chan~
*Kokichi exaunts.
Tumblr media
It’s like night and day with him...
Tumblr media
You have NO idea.
Tumblr media
Before we say anything else, can I just ask...How did you find us exactly?
Tumblr media
Ouma contacted Shuichi and Kaede after you mentioned to him they were investigating on your behalf. He wanted to let them know that if they needed to contact you, they should do it through him.
Tumblr media
!!?
Tumblr media
*whistles*
Tumblr media
Fucking arse-biscuit...
Tumblr media
In any case, I’m surprised you made it out of Future Foundation alive Mukuro. I would’ve thought Byakuya would keep tabs on you.
Tumblr media
Clearly he trusts me more than he shows. Although I did basically go and betray that trust.
Tumblr media
What do you mean?
Tumblr media
I kind of left without telling anyone anything. And I left with the sole intent of aiding you.
Tumblr media
As soon as I got here...I became a fugitive too.
Tumblr media
Oh...really? Damn...
Tumblr media
W-Wait! What about Protocol Noël!?
Tumblr media
Prototype what?
Tumblr media
A protocol in the fine print of the Future Foundation. It permits soldiers to gun me down if I ever betray the Foundation.
Tumblr media
Which...I basically just have.
Tumblr media
The fuck!? Why would you risk that!?
Tumblr media
Because you were right about something.
Tumblr media
Makoto is the one I owe the most for the life I’ve lived up till now. The Future Foundation collectively gave me a chance, but it’s only thanks to him that I was allowed that chance.
Tumblr media
Now he needs me more than ever, and I refuse to turn my back on him when you so readily came to his aid.
Tumblr media
That’s effectively saying that this is my fault for putting seeds of doubt into your mind.
Tumblr media
Yep. That makes things easier.
Tumblr media
Ow...
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
I’m so sorry Mukuro!
Tumblr media
Huh?
*Makoto basically bows in regret.
Tumblr media
I didn’t mean for any of this to happen! I’m so sorry I made you feel inclined to turn your back on the Foundation and your friends for my sake!
Tumblr media
It’s not even your fault is it? You’re innocent.
Tumblr media
...!
Tumblr media
Though, if you are sorry, you can repay the favor by not getting caught. And by letting me join you.
Tumblr media
I know this is bad for Mukuro, and she’s basically throwing herself into a lion’s den, but we only very narrowly escaped when Ha-muna-kata-ta and Byakuyasshole attacked us at the hospital.
Tumblr media
If we have Mukuro with us, our chances of evading capture shoot up.
Tumblr media
But it also means we have more people to worry about...
Tumblr media
Still, he’s right. We really could use the help.
Tumblr media
Thank you.
Tumblr media
However! I’m not gonna let you help while you’re wearing that chicken-shit outfit!
Tumblr media
Go change, and I’ll go convince Kokichi to give you an extra futon.
Tumblr media
Alright...
*Kuripa leaves. Mukuro gets up to follow him out, but Makoto stands up and grabs her arm.
Tumblr media
Is this worth it?
Tumblr media
...
*Mukuro turns to him and takes his hand in hers.
Tumblr media
Undoubtedly.
*She smiles and leaves.
Tumblr media

Happy little hcs to atone for my sins
Taka and Hina are study buddies
Sometimes Aoi manages to get Taka off track because she’s just so enthusiastic and wants to hear about all of her friends’ hyperfixations and special interests
37.2 minutes later
Taka’s infodumping about how he despises moral philosophy but also thoroughly enjoys it bc that’s how moral philosophers are
Or he’s infodumping about political science and debate tactics and how speeches were effective or not for various reasons
Sakura and Mondo work out together
It started off as a coincidence when they were in the gym at the same time but it kept happening so they called it a schedule
They talk about their SOs and they’re smiling
Sakura teaches Mondo certain stretches and exercises to help relax different muscle groups for whenever he pulls a muscle or has a flare up from the thing with the bikes
Leon constantly asks Chihiro to turn alter ego into a vocaloid or at least program a bit of that tech into their system
Bc he would rather shave his head again than talk to Sayaka about producing music
He just has so many ideas
And it’s cool when there are kinda punk rock songs that are covered in an 8-bit or a vocaloid style
Byakuya and Celeste have a small series of bets with low stakes about what their inferiors classmates will do to lead up to them jingling away morosely like the fools they are
Sayaka shamelessly advertises her group’s mercy to her classmates and friends
Everyone gets their nails painted at some point
Nobody knows how Byakuya got roped into it but it worked
Makoto has rainbow loom
Atua forgives you
anyway YEAH LEGIT?
Hina has fully and thoroughly fallen in love with all of her friends and classmates’ expressions whenever they’re talking about something that excites them omg 🥺
she sees someone rambling and having a good time and hears the enthusiastic pitch of their voice as well as the general Vibe™️ that they’re giving off and she just???? [Y E A R N]
Tumblr media
:)
and also just???? her and taka being study buddies is so valid oh my god??? they’re really close because of it!!! And Taka always loves hanging out with her because he knows she’ll let him just Talk??? and he adores that about her????? And she’ll be ENGAGED which!!!!!! oh my god!!!!?????
hi in this house we love and adore hina
And Sakura and Mondo???? absolutely?????
they have friendly competitions over who can lift the most weights/do the most reps/etc. (they do it sparingly, ofc! bc Sakura at least knows that they’ll both be subconsciously trying to beat the other as opposed to listening to what their bodies need in the moment. Sakura is the single braincell of class 78 no I won’t take it back because it’s true)
and they totally doooooo like they both get such cute loveydovey pining expressions whenever it’s Their Turn™️ to discuss the latest cute thing their partner(s) did. and listening to the other talking???? oh my god it’s literally the neatest thing????
Sakura looking at Mondo: I would die for this man
Mondo looking at Sakura: this woman is literally beauty and perfection in human form
THEY’RE SUCH GOOD FRIENDS OKAY???
also chihiro joins them for training sometimes!!!! She obviously isn’t able to do as much as the other two are, but both Sakura and Mondo are always so proud of her progress??? They’re like “you are so cool and strong do you know that??? you better know that”
and speaking of chihiro hdbdvdvdvdvdvdvdvd on GOD Leon will Not leave them alone abt it and they’re just like
“y....you do NOT have the attention span,.......you’re gonna get frustrated within like the first five minutes......and then I’ll have done all that work for nothing..............”
but Leon’s >:( no I won’t!!!! music is my Passion!!!!!!!!
so it’s like *sigh* okay
and anyway leon genuinely does rlly like it???? like he gets burned out very easily and can only compose things in short bursts, but he’s always so so so proud of the finished products??? (Even if nobody else likes it but shush 😌)
and it makes chihiro :D to know that something she made (even if it was done with reluctance) has brought one of her closest friends so much happiness????? she’s also like good for Leon but also if he ever bothers them about something like that again they are Literally Going to Snap but that’s another story for another day vwv
AND YEAH LIKE. HE DOESN’T MIND TALKING TO HER ABT MUSIC IN GENERAL BECAUSE IT’S AN INTEREST THEY SHARE (quite possibly one of the only times they will have a conversation without one constantly insulting the other ❤️) BUT. ADMITTING TO HER THAT HE NEEDS HELP WITH IT IS THE WORST HE HATES IT HE HATES IT HSBDBSBD
god okay so. his first impression of her when they had just come to hope’s peak and met for the first time was “oh my god!!! she’s a pop idol!!! so she must know a lot about music!!! maybe she’ll help me become a popular musician!!!” and her immediate reaction when she first heard him ask was to literally roll her eyes and he was like oh okay fuck her actually
and then slow burn enemies-to-friends 💛
WHEBDVSVS CELESTE AND BYAKUYA JUST BEING RICH ASSHOLES IS SO FUNNY??? LIKE THEY HAVE WEALTH SOLIDARITY AND THEY ACT ALMOST LIKE alright your status makes you worthy of my time, I suppose-
they’ve had bets on everything from how many times kirigiri will pass out from exhaustion by the end of the school day, to how long it’ll take before Kirumi finally Loses Her Shit, to how many people will be harmed by Komaeda’s luck while hanging out with him.
Mfs about to die smh
and dhdbwvwbsvwvwb yeah like??? sometimes a normal conversation with maizono will turn into her being like “yeah, and by the way, if you’re looking for a change of style and wardrobe, you should check out the newest shirt my band just released as part of our merch drop, and-”
Makoto is the one who gets baited into her merch ads most often sndbsbsbdbdbw
even mentioning the word “merch” around Leon or Kaz will earn her a lot of groaning and sighing, and occasionally a pillow or other soft object being hurled at her face 💛
oh my god they all have a manicure spa day,,,,,,,class bonding 🥺
hdbdvdvdv they got Jill to break into his dorm and kidnap him ngl like the specifics they gave her were something along the lines of “use as much force as you need to without killing him” and she was like “DONE”
and okay I’m not gonna talk abt everyone’s nails but now I’m thinking about it and like-
Sayaka gets like a lighter violet background with gold and white stars smattered around them, more concentrated in some areas than others, and it’s generally very pretty 🥺
chihiro’s are a different solid pastel color on each finger!!! it’s very kidcore and fun and they love it so muchhhh!!!
leon gets a little self-conscious when it’s his turn because his nails are highkey disgusting from all the time he spends playing baseball - there’s dirt trapped under them and everything so he’s just like hhhhhhh anxiety go brrrr but anyway he gets solid black because he’s edgy and cool like that 😎
I think Taka gets a French manicure with little dark red flowers pressed towards the tips because!!! simple yet pretty!!!
Celeste probably takes the longest because her request is sooooo complicated like it’s black and red and long ass acrylics with overlapping patterns and everyone else just kinda sits there feeling h o r r i b l e for that poor nail stylist
Toko gets a checkerboard pattern, with each nail having a different neon color in place of white!!! Because she knows that Jill will find it cool and pretty and colorful the next time she fronts (visual stimming jill?? 👀)
Togami just picks whatever will get him out of the chair quickest hdbsvdvdvdbdbdb
anyway Makoto????? rainbow loom????? absolutely
he has so many bracelets!!!!! so many so many so many and he knows how to create such a wide variety of styles it’s so cool!!!!!! he wears a bunch of them at any given time because they are so fun to fidget with!!!! and rubber texture hvvvvhvv!!!!
and he creates personalized ones for his friends, too, like he knows their favorite colors and sometimes picks up on whether they prefer a certain style or not from the way they react to the other ones he’s made and it’s!!! just so neat!!!!!
I’m thinking about it and!!! he has a bi pride fishtail, a trans pride arrow stitch, a black and neon green railroad, a pastel pink/blue/purple/yellow ladder, a jelly yellow and green dragon scale, a rainbow double cross, and a bunch more!!! he also has a bunch with charms and beads added into them!!!!
He also makes them for his friends even if he knows they won’t wear them!! Like Toko, for example, isn’t the biggest fan of jewelry because she doesn’t like the texture, but he creates one for her anyway and fills it with so much love (it looks like a daisy chain!!!! because at least she’ll be able to look at it and hold it and still be interested in it without it needing to be on her wrist!!!)
he makes a ton of bright colored ones for Mukuro (usually either single or inverted fishtail because he knows she wouldn’t enjoy wearing anything too heavy or overbearing) so that she has more mobile visual stims!!!
similar for Jill!! although most of hers tend to be black and bright neon rainbow in various bulkier styles!!!! Jill will also force him to let her look at his bracelet-covered arm whenever they hang out because. my god,,,,,,so many Colors™️
he’s found that togami prefers black and white simpler styles, and that Kyoko absolutely adores singles, fishtails, and double fishtails in any shade of purple, and that Mondo likes any of the larger styles in darker colors + blacks and grays!!! Chihiro loves anything with jelly and glitter bands!!!
Leon usually only wears one at a time, but he cycles through every single one that his boyfriend’s ever made for him because????? GOD they’re so cool and his boyfriend is so crafty and incredible and just,,,,,,,,,hvvvhvv every time he looks at the one he’s wearing he’s able to calm himself down and remember that Makoto loves him........it’s also very good for stim and fidgeting <3
anyways sorry yes Makoto with a rainbow loom is filling me with serotonin and it’s canon now

About the so-called "Third-Case Syndrome"
I've been in the Ace Attorney fandom for a few years now, and there is a story I've heard more times than I can count: the story of the "Third-Case Syndrome." After joining the Danganronpa fandom, I realized - not without surprise - that a similar "Third-Chapter Syndrome" had admittedly cursed the series. However, I do believe that, in both cases, it would be wise to exert caution: things are never as simple as they seem. Now, even if this seems evident to me, I'll say it just to be sure: this is only my opinion. You might disagree, but please do not be toxic about it.
Before we proceed, I'd also like to warn you all: spoilers ahead for the entire Danganronpa and Ace Attorney series (even the Investigations and DGS games). Now, let's begin.
Ace Attorney:
AA1 - Turnabout Samurai:
To start off, we have 1-3. I agree with most of the fandom that it is slightly too long and the investigation segments drag out. Going from Studio One to Studio Two, to the Detention Center, etc. is quickly boring. However, its cast is solid (especially Powers and Oldbag), Dee Vasquez's motive (self-defense) is original, the Steel Samurai's theme slaps, and Edgeworth gets the first bit of his character development! I believe it outweights the negative aspects of the case and make it enjoyable. I believe it is far better than 1-1 and 1-2 (with its obvious twists and rushed ending), although it doesn't compare with 1-4 and 1-5, of course. But it's definitely not the case that people point the finger out when arguing about the "curse."
JfA - Turnabout Big Top:
I'll definitely be playing Devil's advocate on that one, but I like 2-3. Of course, the whole "love triangle" thing was shit, but the rest of the case was fine! Regina sucks, that I can agree with, but Moe was funny (in my opinion), Max got some quality character development in the end, Ben & Trilo were a nice duo, and Acro... Acro is one of the best culprits in the series, hands down. His theme is amazing and he is one of the most tragic characters in the series. Knowing that he unknowingly killed the person who had helped him is just sad, and his motive for trying to kill Regina, while not excusable, is understable. Losing the two people he was closest to, and him explaining that he couldn't "up and leave" (literally, too) before Bat had woken up was just sad. Also, while 2-3 isn't amazing like 2-4 (my favorite case) is, it's miles ahead of 2-1 (which objectively sucks) and 2-2 (which lasts for hours with an annoying and predictable culprit). Besides, the plot twist at the end with Edgeworth appearing sets the tone for the upcoming final case. In my opinion, Turnabout Big Top gets some undeserved hate.
T&T - Recipe for Turnabout:
3-3 is really good, no questions asked. The mere fact that it's better than 3-2 (predictable culprit, forgettable victim...) is obvious to me. But it also features the return of Maggey, and the first (and only) appearance of amazingly comical characters like Furio Tigre and Victor Kudo (who both have amazing theme songs). The victim might be a little forgettable, but he at least gets some development, unlike Bullard in The Stolen Turnabout. Of course, Tigre is obvious as the killer, but he's meant to be this way, and the way you corner him is amazing. The reveal that Godot can't see red on white matters in 3-5, and the case is hilarious. Special mention of Viola Cadaverini, who's underrated by the fandom, in my opinion. 3-3 is probably the strongest third case in the Trilogy, and it is definitely not the worst case in T&T.
AJ - Turnabout Serenade:
Okay, this case sucks. I dislike it very much and I can't find anything that would redeem it. The victim is boring, Daryan is obvious, Valant isn't good enough, the mini-game is tedious, and the "Phoenix saves the day" thing is repetitive. However, 4-3's biggest flaw is the defendant, Machi Tobaye. Lamiroir is an enjoyable character, and the plot twist surrounding her eyesight isn't bad, but it doesn't make Machi good enough not to ruin the case. This case is the weak point of a great game, but fortunately, 4-4 more than makes up for it.
DD - Turnabout Academy:
Dual Destinies is my least favorite game in the main series, but it has some solid cases, 5-3 being one of them. The trio of Juniper, Robin, and Hugh is amazing (even if the twist around Robin was pretty obvious), the WAA trio works very well, and we even get a chance to see Klavier again (his objection clip sucks, though)! It is definitely a strong case, even if Means was a bit obvious, and while it doesn't hold up to the great ending of DD, I do believe that 5-3 is better than 5-1, 5-2, and maybe even 5-4.
SoJ - The Rite of Turnabout:
Maya's comeback makes this case good, albeit not great. It is better than 6-1 for sure (drags on too much for a tutorial case) and probably 6-4 and 6-6, but it pales compared to 6-2 and 6-5, of course. Nayhuta is the weak point of 6-3, but everything else about this case is pretty good! The "new" Maya is a right balance of her former self with some more maturity, Datz is funny, Beh'leeb Inmee was a really emotional character, and while I don't like Tahrust too much, the plot twist around his death was pretty cool. Also, this case also makes it clear why Phoenix did what he did in 6-5 when Inga blackmailed him: he can't lose Maya. It could have been better, but this case is solid, and definitely not part of a "curse" of any kind.
AAI - The Kidnapped Turnabout:
Unfortunately, AAI kinda sucks. The first three cases aren't that good, and while I1-3 is probably better than I1-1, I'll admit it's terrible. It's long, the Amanos sucks, Lauren Paups isn't that great, and if it wasn't for Kay, the case would probably be the worst in the series.
AAI2 - The Inherited Turnabout:
Is there anything bad to say about I2-3? I mean, you play as Gregory freaking Edgeworth, so what more do you want? Ah, yes, it also has DL-6 development, the exceptional Katherine Hall and Jeffrey Masters, plot twists, flashbacks done right (!), and while the villain isn't great, he is satisfying to catch, and he matters in I2-5. Honestly, this case would probably be enough to prove my whole argument.
DGS1 - The Adventure of the Runaway Room:
After a somewhat disappointing second case (in my opinion), DGS1-3 is really good! Megundal (I'll use the names from the fan translation, since I'm used to them and like them better) is quite the interesting character, and the Engarde-like plot twist surrounding him is amazing. His death in the final cutscene is also good and ties in nicely with the final case. Ryunosuke's first trial in England gives him cool development, and damn it, Barok van Zieks! His legslam, glass throw, and objection clip suffice to make him an amazing character, and there's more to him that just that. This case is better than DGS1-2, DGS1-1, and maybe even DGS1-4 if you don't consider its link to DGS2.
DGS2 - The Return of the Great Departed Soul:
While not as good as the two following cases in my opinion, this case is definitely above-average. Gina's comeback is just great, and her new mentor-protégé relationship with Gregson is nothing short of wholesome. Enoch Drebbler is one of the best culprits in the duology, and Courtney Sithe's character is very good, too. She gives a confident vibe that really serves the case. Benjamin Dobinbough (because his canon English name is one I refuse to acknowledge) is a great clueless defendant, and his relationship to Barok is quite nice! It definitely makes the case trickier! Rozaic has a really mysterious and enjoyable atmosphere surrounding her, and finding Herlock standing like statue at the wax museum was amusing. Of course, the best thing about this case is Asogi's return. It is handled well by the game that doesn't try to cover the obvious plot twist.. The final cutscene is just *smooch*. I also can't forget the Joint Reasoning with Herlock when looking for Enoch. Again, this case is definitely not part of a "curse" of any kind.
Overall thoughts:
I don't think the Third-Case Syndrome holds for Ace Attorney. Some third cases weren't good (4-3 and I1-3) but most are either good (1-3, 3-3, 5-3, DGS1-3) or excellent (I2-3 and DGS2-3). I know Turnabout Big Top traumatized most of the fandom, but I don't think it's that bad, and definitely not bad enough to start a curse revolving around third cases.
Danganronpa:
Trigger Happy Havoc:
Chapter Three of THH is... good enough. The pointless argument between Taka and Hifumi is annoying, to be sure, and Celeste did us a favor by getting rid of them. And her plan wasn't bad, either! It could have worked if Makoto and Kyoko had not been there. However, I do believe that this chapter is too boring before the first murder. The motive is also... meh. The plot twist oh Hifumi waking up and remembering Celeste's true name was enjoyable, though. 1-3 isn't amazing by any means, but I think it's better than 1-5 and 1-6, but it stands no chance against 1-2 and 1-4.
Goodbye Despair:
Well, this one sucks. I think it's the only DR chapter that literally has a plot hole. The "Despair Syndrome" motive is probably the worse in the series and this case pretty much ruined Mikan's character. Her execution is lame, Ibuki shouldn't have been a victim (seriously, why?), the culprit is obvious, and the timeframe to execute her plot doesn't work if you aren't Sonic the Hedgehog. Also... that attempt at fanservice was cringe, and it almost killed Hajime. The only thing that redeems this chapter a bit is the name "Titty Typhoon" but that's it. This one definitely alimented the "curse," and rightfully so. In-between two great cases, 2-3 doesn't make a good impression.
Killing Harmony:
3-3 is a chapter I have mixed feelings about. On the one hand, the atmosphere was excellent and fitting of the killer, and Kokichi's prank had us all freak out at first. I don't like neither Angie nor Kiyo (sorry, Kiyo fans), but somehow, it didn't make the chapter worse for me. On the other hand, the Necronomicon motive sucks almost as much as the motive in 2-3. It could have worked in DR2 considering the Killing Game happened virtually, but in V3, the motive was just an outright lie from Monokuma, so it doesn't work. Also, Kiyo was a bit too obvious: the music, the theme, his sudden importance in the plot, the séance... it was just a bit too much not to make him suspicious. Finally, this chapter's major flaw, which I can sum up in one word: sister. That, was traumatizing. Without even going in details, everything that happened after Kiyo's "sister" appeared during the Class Trial ruined it. I'm also curious to know if the writers at Spike Chunsoft are mentally stable, considering Kiyo's relationship with his sister and the fact that they ship Monotaro and his sister Monophanie in the next case. It's not a bad chapter at all, but it has its flaws, unfortunately.
Overall thoughts:
While I wouldn't call it a "curse," it's true that third cases in Danganronpa aren't amazing, especially in DR2. You'll also notice that I didn't mention UDG simply because it's too different a game to be compared to THH, DR2, and V3. If we ever get another Killing Game, I hope that the third chapter will be better, because we've yet to have an awesome Chapter Three so far.
Final thoughts:
I don't believe there are curses revolving around third cases/chapters, neither in Ace Attorney, nor in Danganronpa. However, it's true that in the case of Danganronpa, on average, third cases are the weakest, while Chapters Four and Five are almost always great. Third cases in Ace Attorney definitely get an unfair treatement, though.
Thanks for reading, and I'm open to discussing all of this if you disagree!

I know you have plans for the winter break already but what if in that time nothing bad happens and the boys invited the girls to their homelands?
Sayaka’s invited by Deuce to go meet his mother as his closest friends (both totally obvious that everyone sees it as guy invites his girlfriend to his mom for the first time). It’d be so wholesome, with Deuce’mom lightly teases them but very grateful that her son managed to befriend a good girl like Sayaka. And since they’re in the Rose Country, they can go meet Ace and the others!
Kyoko probably goes with Ruggie. He’s self-conscious about his poor neighborhood but after all the time they spent together, relating to each other’s hardships they are more comfortable with one another. She’d get along well with everyone there, especially the kids even if she acts grumpy and denies that she cares about them. The sight of everyone in the poor but close-knited community leaves her with a bittersweet feeling as she remembers her family. But hearing Ruggie’s grandma says that if she doesn’t mind she’s welcome to visit them anytime aling with the neighbor kids cheerfully chirping that they want to see nee-chan again warms her heart
(Oohh what if she decides to stay??)
Homura goes with Kalim and Jamil to the Country of Hot Sands, meeting both of them families. She can’t help but feel uncomfortable with how many ppl there are, and she keeps her guard up even more knowing that Kalim’s life could be targeted at any time. Still, witnessing Kalim being a big brother to his siblings (it’s clear that they love him a lot, even if their own mothers want him out of the picture) and how Jamil’s family being more reserved yet clearly shows that they deeply care for him is heartwarming. She’s grateful that they treat her as a precious friend of their sons. For once in her life, she’s able to understand what family love is like. (Kalim’s dad secretly welcomes the idea of having Homura as Kalim’s wife)
Even though Mami is closer to Vil and Rook, I see her going to Epel’s village, partly because we know very little about Vil’s family and nothing about Rook’s. Although she and him are the only teens around, Mami enjoys the peaceful atmosphere and how caring the people there are. Plus watching him freely being himself and being obviously happy around his family brings a smile to her face. It reminds her of her own parents and for a moment she has a solemn expression before snapping out of it to join in the fun with everyone. Even if her duty as Magical Girl will keep her to find a way back, she’s going to cherish all the memories and all the friends she made here in Twisted Wonderland
Madoka would be so out of place in the Valley of Thorns. She’s most likely be the only human there and will be faced with many looks, but Lilia and the others will be by her side no matter what. And even though it’s nerve wrecking to be so far away from her friends the experience of visiting the Diasomnia’s homeland soon fills her with wonder. Once she shows her magic everyone slowly starts to be more welcoming to her.
Let’s give these girls more happiness! I love the idea that the boys bring the girls that sorted into their dorm to their homelands & meet their families! Let’s do this.
Sayaka would feel a little awkward at first. I mean, a guy has never invited her to meet his family and homeland before! (Kyousuke doesn’t count here). It’ll be funny that both her and Sayaka doesn’t think too much about the invitation, just good friends, right? Everyone else will be like, “Ah, young love! One day these oblivious idiots will realise it, no worries!” Deuce’s mom would definitely be delighted over Sayaka and adores her! She believes that she’s a good girl and friend to her son and if those two combined? She hopes they can continue to support one another. After hanging out with Deuce’s mom and helping out around the house because Sayaka would insist it, they would go out to hang out with Ace and the rest of the Heartslabyul gang too! Cater would probably drop by at the Rose Kingdom too. Sayaka would want to keep close to Riddle in case his mother did anything to him. And for that lady’s sake? Riddle is gonna be a lot more outspoken and independent from his mother lest Sayaka decides to ‘save’ her too.
Ruggie had sheepishly and hesitantly offer Kyouko if she would like to come home with him during the Winter Break. Kyouko, at first, doesn’t understand why he’s so self-conscious about it until he brought her to the slums and poor neighbourhood. He worries if it’ll put her off, but to his immense relief and pleasant surprise, Kyouko feels at ease. Right at home, in fact. He would internally chastise himself, he remembers that Kyouko used to live on the streets back where she comes from after the death of her family. You bet this girl gets along well everyone in Ruggie’s home. Despite the environment, Kyouko would quietly yet fiercely thanked him for bringing her to meet his grandma and the close-knitted community he lives with. For now, it’s alright to bask in this warm feeling of having a family again. And you know what? These two would also happily accept Leona offers to meet with him in his palace. He’d grumbled about their noisy presence but compared to dealing with the judgemental servants and annoying family members, Leona enjoys having them with him. Kyouko wonders if Jack would like to hang out with them too.
(wouldn’t it be nice if Kyouko, Mami and even Sayaka will be hesitant to go back to Mitakihara City? They found love, family and acceptance in Twisted Wonderland with these boys. Madoka would be torn about at this point, Lilia has become her second Dad in all but blood and name. And Homura? This is perfect for her; so bittersweet. She would rather have the other girls live her while she goes back to Mitakihara City. Let her deal with Kyuubey & Walpurgisnacht. She’ll gladly face the nightmares if it means Madoka and everyone else can live happily. PS: I was listening to Jungkook’s Still With You so kudos for making myself sad).
At first, Homura is very reluctant to be separated from Madoka. It took not only Madoka & Lilia’s constant assurance that she’ll be safe and sound but also Malleus in a staring competition with Homura that ended with, “Do you look down on my power and capabilities to keep the Fairy safe?” Cue Sebek spluttering and shrieking in the background, being restrained by an exasperated Silver, at how Homura is underestimating his young master. In the end, she takes up on Kalim’s invitation to the Land of Hot Sands. She’s gotten used to the weather, clothes and culture practice in Scarabia, so adapting to the Land of Hot Sands is not a problem for her. But yes, she definitely feels uncomfortable with how large the Al-Asim family is! Her guards are constantly up despite the warm welcome she receives; she makes sure to be polite though, after all, she is a guest in their home?? Manor?? Palace?? Yeah. She’s cautious and friendly to his Dad, his mother and the other wives but a bit more relax towards Kalim’s siblings. Even the older ones. I feel that she’s patient to their questions and invitations to play. Homura also takes the time to visit Jamil and his reserved family. She never bothered by status before so like Sayaka, she would offer her help around their house too. All in all, I think both families would thank her for looking out for their sons. It’ll be funny if the night before they went back to NRC, Kalim’s dad pull him aside, telling him he approves if he wants to make Homura his wife. We don’t know if Homura even has a family in the anime so it’s a nice to experience what being in a family feels like. (Let’s just hope neither family ever discover the extent she would do to bring back a dead Kalim, yes?).
Oh! Oh! I think that’s a good idea! Having Epel inviting Mami to the Village of Harvest. Mami portrays herself as a high-class, sort of noble lady with her fancy teas, ladylike-behaviour and expensive looking apartment, but you know? She’s more than happy to help him around the farm! The serene and quiet atmosphere is a breath of fresh air to her. She’s charming the old ladies and gentlemen left and right with her beautiful smiles and sweet demeanour! Mami would giggle and keep it herself that it’s nice to see Epel slip back to his country accent and let loose without having to worry about Vil breathing down his neck. His family are so welcoming of her that she’s super touched and thanked Epel for bringing her to his home. I want Vil to often call Mami to ask if Epel is treating her right and that would lead him asking her to pass the phone to him and poor Epel complaining that even back home, he can’t run away from Vil! What is this nightmare!? Rook would just one day randomly appear without warning, scaring Mami and Epel.
If Madoka stands out in Diasomnia, she will definitely look out of place in Malleus’ castle and the Valley of Thorns! The only human around dark Faes, bright pink against black, a sweet thing among reserved and secretive society. I think Malleus’ castle would only be filled with those who he truly trust so she can roam around without worry, though whispers and gossips will sure travel across the land that their Prince finally brought a friend home! And a human, too! Cue of the castle staffs, guards and etc wondering about Madoka. She’ll ease into the scrutiny with Lilia and Silver besides her. As for Malleus? He’s just super excited to show her around, have sleepovers and etc. So precious!

Hello Katy. I'm a huge Madoka Magica and Magia Record fan, I wanted to ask your recommendations on spin offs and extra material to know about the world building and other stories
Great question. I’m your girl! I’ve read all the spinoffs and can recommend them!
I’m going down a list on “most recommended” to “least recommended,” although I think everything on this list is worthy of reading. Oh, and everything on this list (sans The Wraith Arc) has been officially published in English; although I have offered links to read them for free I really recommend supporting the franchise by buying the manga if you can (plus, if you’re like me, you’ll like having physical copies to put on your bookshelf).
1. The Different Story: Imo the best PMMM spinoff and one every Madoka fan must read. It has three volumes; the first volume focuses on Mami and Kyoko’s backstory as friends and allies (which is consistent throughout all of Homura’s time loops), which was originally revealed in an audio drama released with one of PMMM’s Blurays. However, the final two volumes take place in an alternate timeline where Sayaka contracted in time to save Mami from Charlotte. The series explores Mami and Kyoko’s relationship and gives them a lot of depth and characterization. It’s just a really excellent series I can’t recommend enough. Be sure to have tissues on hand.
2. Puella Magi Tart Magica: By far my favorite standalone spinoff and would have been my favorite overall if not for the Different Story. Tart Magica follows the journey of Tart, aka Jeanne d’Arc (yes, that Joan of Arc) as she and her allies fight on behalf of France during the Hundred Years’ War. Not only is this a great PMMM spinoff, it’s great historical fiction; the mangaka did a ton of research on that era and gives a lot of interesting historical background. The characters are also lovable and interesting, especially Tart herself and her closest companion, Riz. I highly, highly recommend this series and really wish more people read it.
3. Puella Magi Oriko Magica: Probably the best known PMMM spinoff because it was released alongside the original anime. Oriko Magica takes place in one of Homura’s alternate timelines, specifically one noted to be very irregular. The titular Oriko is a magical girl who can see the future and is trying to prevent some unclear calamity alongside her partner Kirika. The main girls from PMMM are also important characters, especially Mami and Kyoko (who actually adopts Yuma, a young girl orphaned by a Witch attack). It soon becomes clear that Oriko is willing to stoop to very dangerous methods to prevent the disaster she foresaw.
Oriko Magica also has two spinoffs (yes, there are spinoffs of a spinoff). The first is a collection of side stories that take place in an alternate timeline. The second is Sadness Prayer, which greatly fleshes out and adds depth to the original Oriko Magica. Basically, it recounts everything leading up to the events of the main Oriko Magica as well as showing scenes from Oriko and Kirika’s perspective. The original Oriko Magica is only 7 chapters/2 volumes long whereas Sadness Prayer is 24 chapters/4 volumes long, so you can tell how much is added to the story. I absolutely love Sadness Prayer and highly recommend it. The original Oriko Magica is pretty good too, and you should read it, if nothing else than so you can enjoy Sadness Prayer.
4. The Wraith Arc: The Wraith Arc is an interquel that takes place between the events of PMMM and the Rebellion Story. It’s actually an adaptation of the first draft of Rebellion, before it was reworked into the Rebellion we all know. Imo that shows, because it feels somewhat unpolished and rushed compared to the other spinoffs. Nonetheless, I think it’s worth reading. It follows Homura, Mami, and Kyoko in Madoka’s new world as they fight against Wraiths. However, Homura inadvertently sets off a chain of events that lead to disaster.
5. Puella Magi Suzune Magica: This spinoff follows Suzune Amano, a magical girl who is a serial killer of other magical girls (not a spoiler btw, we find this out in the first few pages). Four other magical girls in the city she just moved to soon become her targets, but they’re not going down without a fight. As the story goes on, we find out Suzune’s motivations. We also follow Matsuri Hinata, one of Suzune’s targets who is trying to befriend her. This spinoff is pretty good and has a great concept, although unfortunately the ending feels rushed and could have probably benefited from another volume. I still think it’s worth a read.
6. Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: A girl wakes up in a suitcase with no memory of who she is. She is soon discovered by Umika Misaki and Kaoru Maki, who reveal that she is their friend Kazumi and that they are all magical girls. The trio soon meet up with their four other magical girl companions and together they form the Pleiades Saints. However, as soon as they’re reunited, a chain of events is set off that puts them all in danger. All the while, Kazumi is trying to regain her lost memories and find out the secrets her friends are hiding from her. Honestly, that’s the best I could do to come up with a summary because over the course of five volumes the events become kind of disjointed and less coherent, haha. I think Kazumi Magica is worth reading, but imo it’s the worst spinoff and lacks the polish the others have. Despite going on for five volumes, it still feels like there wasn’t enough time for the mangaka to flesh out all the different plot elements.
----------
That’s all 6 of the main spinoffs! There’s one I’m leaving out, Homura’s Revenge, which I haven’t read or been able to find scans of. There’s also an assortment of parody/4koma manga, but those are mostly untranslated (except for Homura Tamura, which also doesn’t have scans but has been officially published in English).
As for other world-building, I highly recommend reading through the Wiki’s pages on the various routes in the Madoka Magica Portable game. It’s a game for the PSP that was unfortunately never released in English (although it looks like someone is currently working on a translation), which is really a shame because it has top-notch world-building and characterization. The PSP game is actually where the designs of Candeloro (Mami’s Witch), Ophelia (Kyoko’s Witch), and Homulilly (Homura’s Witch) originate from, which were later used for the Doppels in Magia Record.

Our Scars
Tumblr media
Category: Mild Romantic Fluff
Fandom: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Characters: Takeshi Yamamoto, Kyoko Sasagawa
Hi, guys! I’ve been obsessed with Hitman Reborn! as of late, so I’ve decided to participate in Katekyo Hitman Reborn! RarePair Week (because we all know how much I love rarepairs). I’ve decided to start with the Day 2 prompt, “Scars”! Hope you all enjoy it :)
The pattering of the rain against Kyoko’s umbrella was soothing as she strolled along the wet sidewalk, her rainboots squeaking with every step. A plastic bag swung below her bent elbow, containing a selection of decadent cakes from her favorite bakery. She had delivered most of them to Tsuna and her friends, and now had only one last stop- Takeshi Yamamoto’s house. Kyoko still didn’t understand much of their world- the dangerous situations and such- but she understood well enough that she was invaluable to them as support. Kyoko could fill the role of supporter perfectly fine, and so here she was, delivering some treats as a reward for their hard work with… whatever they were doing in their spare time.
The iron latch shrieked in protest as she lifted it, and the wooden gate agreed with its partner, sounding an earthy groan. The rain was cascading something fierce now, throwing up splashes against the rubber material of her rain boots with every walloping raindrop. Ripples in the two-inch-deep water distorted the yard into a sea of green and brown and gray. Kyoko carefully picked her way over the slick stones that marked the path to Takeshi’s house. She cried out when the sole of her boot slipped over the smooth surface and caused her ankle to roll inward. Tears sprung to her eyes and a whine to her throat as the fiery pain rocketed up her leg. She remained there a while, hunched over with her hand buried down in the boot to rub tenderly at the screaming flesh, but she protectively held the bag of boxed cakes to her chest.
They had Yamamoto’s favorite today… I said I would hike through the weather, and I shall hike through this pain, too! Huffing in resolve, she straightened back up and limped up to the porch. She rapped loudly on the doorframe before opening the door, which was always unlocked, and announced her presence. She heard Takeshi’s father chime a greeting from within the bowels of the home. While she awaited his arrival, she stepped onto the welcome mat and removed her rainboots and folded up her umbrella, setting both neatly aside. The smiling man came round the corner and embraced her with a polite hug and kiss on the cheek. Kyoko had made many calls to Takeshi’s house, and she was regarded more as family than a guest at this point.
“My dear Kyoko! I sure hope you haven’t come tromping through this horrendous rain just to call on my boy,” the kind man scolded her as she rifled through the plastic bag.
“Not just him!” she laughed and procured a sweet confection, holding it out to him. His eyebrow raised above a twinkling eye, and a wide grin split his weathered features.
“You truly are an angel,” he tutted dramatically and took the box. He gestured loosely towards the back of the house, too absorbed with opening the container to be descriptive. “Takeshi is training in the dojo. I’m sure he’ll be happy to see you,” he said with a pat to her head before strolling off to enjoy Kyoko’s generous gift.
She ignored the stinging pain in her ankle as she trekked through the house she now knew by memory. At the rear of the abode was a spacious room, where Takeshi often trained hard with the sword. She came to the door and found it closed.
“Yamamoto?” she called as she knocked lightly on the dojo’s sliding door. His grunts floated through the wood and cloth. So did the ring of the katana as he cleaved the air over and over in practiced, precise movements. Kyoko shifted her weight from foot to foot for a few seconds, but a wry smile soon began poking at her expression. He’s so in the zone he can’t hear me, she thought amusedly. “Yamamoto, I brought cake!” she called louder and opened the sliding door. “Yama- oh.” Her voice died in her throat, and she stopped opening the door halfway, too stunned by the visceral image of shirtless Takeshi in the middle of the dojo.
Sweat rolled over the rugged contours of his body, pooling in the waistband of the sweatpants that were slung loosely over his hips. His arm muscles flexed as he brought the katana down in a long arc, and Kyoko’s eyes sparkled with the light that refracted over its hyper-sharp edge. His black hair slicked to his forehead, and every few seconds, he would jerk his head to flick the dampened strands out of his eyes. His eyebrows were narrow slopes furrowing his brow in the most impressive display of raw concentration Kyoko had ever witnessed.
Kyoko liked Takeshi, a lot. How could she not? He was so friendly and easygoing. His smile lit up even the darkest room, and his laugh never failed to send joy bubbling up in her body. She liked him, sure, but she had never considered the fact that she may like him… But she sure considered it as she lingered in the threshold of the door, silent, watching him bring that sword down in empty air again and again. All words were lumps in her throat; thus, she could only gawk open-mouthed at him until he finally noticed her.
“Oh, hello, Kyoko!” he grinned jovially and swept a hand through his hair. The way the sweat-soaked strands parted beneath his fingertips made Kyoko’s mouth run painfully dry. Her eyes wanted to focus on every inch of him- his pectorals heaving as he panted, those crimped hairs still sticking together awkwardly from his hand parting them, his bright eyes and beaming smile- but that was horribly improper of her, so she looked at the floor instead. Shuffling her feet shyly, she retrieved the cake box and held it out. “Cake?” The evident elation in his voice made her heart flutter, although she could have brought him a neat rock, and he’d get just as excited about it.
She heard the click of the sword sliding into its sheath, followed by the patter of his bare feet over the wooden floor. A red haze drifted to her cheeks when his large hands enveloped her own for a brief moment as he retrieved the box. He whistled when he flipped it open, admiring the cake within. “It looks delicious! Thanks, Kyoko!”
“You’re welcome.” It was impolite not to look directly at him when she addressed him, so she forced her eyes upward. Her cheeks darkened incredibly as she did. Yamamoto has such a lovely smile… she thought dreamily. Cheerfully, he swiped a finger across the mountain of cake icing and then popped it in his mouth. He hummed appreciatively and popped the finger out. She wasn’t sure why, but the action made her body flush with heat, she tore her gaze away from his face. Her eyes landed on his arm, and she inhaled sharply. Yamamoto blinked in confusion, followed her intense gaze, and then smiled wanly.
“Oh… You’ve never seen them, have you?”
Thin white scars sliced through the tan skin of his arms. Some of them were many centimeters thick, indicative of a blade biting deep into the flesh. Possessed by some force, Kyoko allowed the bag of cakes to drop to the floor and reached out with both her hands to trace the crisscrossing marks. Takeshi watched her with lidded eyes, his irises swimming with a deep emotion for which she had not the name.
“So many,” she murmured under her breath. Her small, thin fingers tracked the map of healed wounds up to his thick bicep. Her eyes were wide when she looked to him again, expecting to find his smile sad or regretful. Instead, she saw the unmistakable glint of pride hiding within his curled lips. “I don’t… Didn’t they hurt?”
“Of course they did,” he laughed nonchalantly, as if a teenager bearing such marks were utterly typical. “But I don’t regret them. I earned them protecting my friends. I’ll gladly scar this entire body of mine if it means I can keep them safe.” As he stared at the pattern of thin white lines over his arm, Kyoko did not doubt that he was envisioning the faces of his dear comrades there. Kyoko couldn’t understand their world at all, even now, but she could appreciate Takeshi’s overwhelming desire to protect those closest to him.
Yet…
Her eyelashes were beaded with tears as she gripped his upper arm with two quivering hands. His fingernails bit into the flesh, pressing small crescent moons into his skin, but he did not complain. He only looked at her in bewilderment as she stood in front of him, shaking.
“Yamamoto, I… I would much rather you be careful,” she sniffed miserably. Her thumbs pressed into a half-an-inch thick bulge of scar tissue, making the skin around it glare white as the blood flooded out of the capillaries. “One day… It may be too bad a wound to heal.” She swallowed the thick lump that was beginning to form in her throat, but it just bobbed right back, making it laborious to breathe. The tears dripped from her lashes to splash down onto his arm. “I-I don’t know much about what it is you and Tsuna and everyone else do, but… I do see that it’s dangerous, and… I just want you to be safe. Please be safe, Yamamoto.”
His hand slid underneath her chin, soft fingers cradling her tear-stained cheeks. She offered no resistance as he tilted her head up. This time, his smile was sad, incredibly so.
“Ahhh, now this is no good. Kyoko is kind enough to bring me cake, and I’ve made her cry? How shameful of me,” he whined self-deprecatingly, with only the faintest hint of amusement. His thumb stroked over her cheek to catch the fresh rolling tears. His teasing tone tugged a small smile onto her lips, making him smile softly in answer. “Ah, that’s much better. Kyoko’s smile is the most beautiful in the world.” She laughed airily and flushed, hitting him lightly in the chest. He still dripped with sweat, so the slap was especially loud.
“You kid too much!”
“Kidding? Does that sound like me?” he joked, drawing another bubbly giggle out of her. His thumb continued to caress her cheek, though her tears had dried thanks to his comforting. His eyes searched her face eagerly, like he was committing it to memory. “No, I don’t joke. Not about this.”
“Yamamoto…” His name left her mouth in a whisper. His eyes ceased roaming her face to settle upon her lips. That rosy tint rose to her cheeks again, but she did nothing as his face encroached upon her own, save for purse her lips and close her eyes in preparation.
The kiss was soft and sweet. Kyoko inhaled deeply when his lips molded over hers, otherwise he would have stolen all the breath from her lungs. It didn’t last more than a few seconds, but Kyoko savored those few precious moments, savored the feeling of joy rushing from the crown of her head to the tips of her toes. As Takeshi pulled away, she subconsciously chased him, desperate for just a few seconds longer. Her eyes fluttered open as a chuckle rumbled in his throat.
“Kyoko, you’re so cute!” he praised and patted her on the head. “It’s no wonder I adore you.” Kyoko’s entire face turned the color of a tomato.
“Y-Yamamoto! You can’t just say things like that!” she sputtered, slapping her hands to her cheeks and finding them unbearably hot.
“Takeshi!” he corrected with a wave of his hand. “I just kissed you, so please call me Takeshi!” She crouched down with a squeal, drowning in second-hand embarrassment with how casual and relaxed he was. Her bangs hung in her eyes as she hung her head, unable to look at him. She was so mortified that she couldn’t even focus on the burning pain in her ankle as she heaved all her weight upon her feet. Takeshi laughed lightheartedly like he always did, then crouched down to pat her head more. “Kyoko, Kyoko, don’t be embarrassed! It was a compliment!” She responded with a high-pitched whine. “Come on, let’s get out of here and eat some cake, yeah?” The plastic bag crinkled as he raised it, and when she finally pried her eyes open, she was staring at his baggy sweatpants. She looked up to find him offering a hand to her.
His fingers were rough and calloused. The wrapped tightly around her smaller ones, holding them tight as he eased her back into a standing position. She expected him to drop her hand after that, but he just kept right on holding it, swinging their arms between them as he headed through the door. “Ow, ow!” she yelped as the one step forward send brutalizing pain rocketing up her leg.
“Kyoko, what’s wrong?” He was on his knees immediately, taking her swollen foot in tender hands to inspect it. Both embarrassed and flattered, she nibbled on the skin of her knuckle.
“Well… I slipped and rolled my ankle in your yard.” He clucked his tongue and shook his head disapprovingly.
“Clumsy Kyoko. What am I to do with you?” he sighed and straightened back up. In one sudden, swift movement, he had scooped her up off the floor. Kyoko squeaked and buried her pink face into the palm of her hands, beating on the thick muscle of his shoulders.
“Yama- Takeshi! No! Your father will see!”
“And? He’s been nagging at me to confess my feelings for a while. ‘Kyoko is such a nice girl! She would be so good for you! Better hurry up or someone will snatch her up!’” His mockery of his father’s tone, complete with waggling his finger, was too amusing for her to focus on the sheer mortification that she was a regular topic of conversation in the household. Her hands continued to shield her apple-red face as Takeshi escorted her down the hallway, but she did find the way she so perfectly muscles into his muscular arms quite nice. Her fingers twitched before curling around Takeshi’s the meat of those muscles, and she did not miss the smile that alit his face.
On that rainy day, Kyoko certainly didn’t think her cake delivery would turn out such a way, but unexpected happenings make life worth living, do they not? Smiling as Takeshi carried her through the house, she traced the complicated map of those scars again, nestling her head into the crook of his neck.
They all lived such dangerous lives, Takeshi and the others. It worried Kyoko sometimes, but at the end of every day, she would be there to support them through thick and thin. It was a taxing job, a job that left deep scars on her heart… but then again, earning scars for those you loved could be quite rewarding in the end too.

DEEP FIC WRITER ASKS
3) what fic are you emotionally attached to?
Luisa and the Fox. ...I feel this one might be expected at this point, so I went through and looked at all my other fic and like. Of them all, this is still the one to which I'm the most emotionally attached. >.>;;
17) What’s the best engagement/interaction/feedback you’ve received from someone who’s read your work?
I was actually afraid of getting this question because like. How do you quantify best engagement/interaction/feedback? SO OBVIOUSLY ALL OF YOUR COMMENTS I NEED YOU TO KNOW. FIRST OFF. But actually, I honestly think it is less the comments/etc. than it is, like, getting to know other writers in the different communities and making friends? Which is...the interaction bit? So becoming friends with you and Belle and Cait through Roisa stuff (or Skylar through Agatha stuff) - and like getting to pop into people's DMs or discord or whatever and just rant and ramble about ships AND CAUSE EACH OTHER PAIN is. the best interaction I get from people who have read my stuff. ^^
19) If you could write an ideal fic, what would it include?
Pain, obviously. ;) No, it would - I've reblogged a thing about narrative distance recently, I think - yeah, this post - and my ideal fic would play with the concept of narrator as distinct from character POV so that you've got the narrator who's telling the story to you who can occasionally comment on things or speak directly to you, the reader, without it feeling weird, in a comforting sort of way. But also the ideal fic would employ second person (kind of like in What Dreams May Come with Viola or in Finding Family with Agatha (when she was stuck in Agnes)), which I'm not sure is compatible with that sort of narrative voice.... It would probably include some super in-depth world-building but not, like, Tolkein world-building, but taking our world and making one difference and then extrapolating from there (like with the soulmate timer stuff). It would be queer, but not necessarily lesbians queer (although there would probably be wlw stuff in it, tbh). A lot of angst. A snarky anti-villain turned anti-hero. A woobie destroyer of worlds. Someone who has turned evil because of tragic past reasons. One character could potentially be ALL OF THE ABOVE. Like I have a character type and I acknowledge this. But also you're gonna have the mom friend. Not the happy perky sunspot but the, like. LET ME USE MADOKA AS AN EXAMPLE. THERE WOULD BE A MAMI, THERE WOULD BE A KYOKO, AND THERE WOULD BE A HOMURA. :D ...okay, in ouat terms. There would be a Mary-Margaret Blanchard (but not necessarily Snow; I will maintain they are separate characters and I like MMB better) and there would be a Regina. ...uh, that's missing a character. There would be a Dottie Underwood. She's the closest to a Kyoko parallel. xD Lots of discussions of mental illness. ...potentially different versions of the same character - whether that's multiverse or time travel or clones or etc. (Or it would be a fairytale. Actually, the ideal fic would be a fairytale.) ...I'm gonna stop there. XD

My idea for a danganronpa/bnha crossover
Anyone is welcome to write for this AU. Spoilers for the AU deaths and all danganronpa games below.
Feel free to submit asks and suggestions, I may even move this to a new blog.
I have to credit half of this AU to my friend  @onyxfang99
Extra Info
Due to the large cast, there are 8 Chapters instead of 6.
The Survivors
Izuku Midoriya: The main character. He is also one of the smartest there, which means he wouldn’t be a victim, and he’s too much of a cinnamon roll to kill. He is very much a mix of Makoto and Shuichi.
Shoto Todoroki: I see him taking a Kyoko approach. He is also very close to Izuku, whether this relationship is platonic or romantic is up to the writer.
Momo Yaoyorozu: Another smart character that would be helpful in trials. Smart enough not to kill or be killed.
Tsuyu Asui: Very much a Sonia + Maki type. Helpful but not particularly relevant to the main story. I don’t see her as the comic relief survivor (like Himiko/Kazuichi/Aoi) but I don’t see her being a big important survivor (like Byakuya/Kyoko/Fuyuhiko)
Katsuki Bakugo: A Fuyuhiko type character. Very closed of from other characters but his character develops at the loss of the ones closest to him. (Unfortunatly, that includes the entire Bakusquad)
Chapter 1
Victim: Yuuga Aoyama
Killer: Mina Ashido
Chapter 1 is always a murder gone wrong/an unplanned victim (Leon, Komaeda, The Mastermind). Aoyama is a very easy target, although I definitely don’t see Mina planing a murder, so instead I see her murdering accidentally/in retaliation.
Chapter 2
Victim: Mashirao Ojiro
Killer:  Mezou Shouji
Chapter 2 will not follow the usual chapter 2 route, as that will be left for chapter 3. This is probably the chapter I’m the least sure about, but I know that Shouji being the killer is going to be essential for Tokoyami’s character development. Ojiro’s death is important for Hagakure’s later actions.
Chapter 3
Victim: Minoru Mineta
Killer: Eijirou Kirishima
Chapter 3′s motive is secrets. Originally, the killer in this chapter was supposed to be Kaminari, but I managed to veto that and have him survive a little longer. Despite this, the whole case has a lot to do with Kaminari and the aftermath is important later on.
One of the main secrets is to do with more than one of them being gay. There begins major homophobia from Mineta, which pisses Kaminari off big time. Kaminari does attempt to kill Mineta, but Kirishima finds out about the attempted murder (and that Mineta is currently dying) and instead delivers the final blow.
During the trial, Kaminari works his ass off to convince everyone he’s the killer, which is actually relatively easy, but eventually it gets out that Kirishima is the actual killer and Bakugo looses his shit. He turns full on Kiyotaka, but Kirishima accepts the punishment. While Kaminari still fits for people to blame him, Kirishima tells him that he didn’t kill Mineta just for Kaminari, but also in anger for driving even Kaminari to kill.
Bakugo gets his Fuyuhiko moment. Kirishima’s death is one of the first biggest hits to the group.
Chapter 4
Victims: Kyouka Jiiro, Hanata Sero
Killers: Tooru Hagakure, Ochako Uraraka
Chapter 4 is a double murder, with two murderers. Danganronpa V3 were such pussies for making Kiyo both killers, because the idea of having two murderers is much to interesting to waste. The second killer (Uraraka) isn’t discovered until a later chapter, although there are a few definite suspects (Who I haven’t decided on yet)
Hagakure’s motive is purely selfish. I haven’t figured out what it is yet, but it is. It’s likely something to do with Ojiro’s death, but I haven’t decided.
Chapter 5
Victim: Kouji Koda
Killer: Fumikage Tokoyami
The death of the gentle giant. A very Chapter 4 esque murder, although we haven’t quite hit the self sacrifice chapter yet. Tokoyami’s motives are closely aligned with Shoji’s death, but he has been shown to be able to get angry/violent and immature.
Chapter 6
Victim: Hitoshi Shinsou
Killer: Denki Kaminari
This is the painful chapter. The truly painful chapter.
The motive is extremely similar to chapter 4 game 2 which was the funhouse and everyone starving to death. Shinsou gets the idea to commit suicide, but Kaminari attempts to talk him down. In the end, Kaminari brings up the wording. He doesn’t believe that a suicide would count as a murder in Monokuma’s eyes, which would make Shinsou’s death meaningless. So Kaminari offers to kill Shinsou, explaining that he should have died back in the third chapter. Kaminari quickly brings this up when Bakugo begs him to explain himself. Bakugo struggles to accept it while Kaminari screams and cries about Kirishima’s death being all his fault. He also tells them that he won’t live in a world without Shinsou.
Chapter 7
Victim: Tenya Iida
Killer: Ochako Ururaka
This is the ‘chapter 5′ of this story. The victims and Killers are always important, central characters (Mukuro and Junko, Nagito and Chiaki, Kokichi and Kaito), and as Izuku’s two best friends, it makes almost too much sense for them to be the final victim and killer.
The killer is also always set up (the first game gives us Makoto/Kyoko being set up as the killer. Chiaki was an unwilling killer. Kaito did it because otherwise Maki would be a killer). And, aside for the first game, it is always something to confuse the player and the rest of the cast (Nagito’s set up to confuse them/reveal the traitor, Kokichi’s plan to confuse Monokuma).
Keeping these things in mind, perhaps it is likely that Uraraka is doing it to mess with Monokuma. In the trial is comes out that she was also Sero’s killer, which pisses Bakugo off immensely.
Chapter 8, the over arching story, and the aftermath
The fabricated story they’ve been given is that they were kidnapped from their homes by a crazy Danganronpa fanatic. This is partially true, but the fanatic is a villain. They were kidnapped from U.A. The setting for the whole story is U.A, but not the real one. Instead, it’s a Danganronpa 2 set up, with virtual reality. While they’ve been found by U.A staff, including Aizawa, they are unable to escape the game or shut it down, due to a SAO situation (If you’re unsure of what that means, it means that if you take off the headset, it kills the person). How they find out is when they try it with Mineta (who dies because I hate him).
The big twist is that inside vr, they have no clue what quirks are. They’re just normal, quirkless people. Of course they have talents which are very reminiscent of their quirks, but they are all ordinary people. This includes people with heteromorphic quirks such as Tokoyami and Ashido.
The survivors, of course, don’t believe this because their understanding of the world is very different than ours. To them, quirks don’t exist nor to heroes/villains. The shock is great when they wake up having quirks. Their memories of being at U.A slowly return, but the trauma of the game is forever with them. Of course, Aizawa, being the parent he is, helps them through it all, making sure they don’t blame themselves. It’s a struggle, but they get through it.

My SHSL Swap Series: Part 1
Kyoko Kirigiri: SHSL Luck/Hope ☘😇
This Kyoko doesn’t particularly see herself as good or bad at anything, although in her single digit years she did LOVE a good puzzle. But seriously, SHSL Luck? It’s way too obvious that the lottery was rigged, just so that she could enter the academy without her “precious headmaster” dad having to deal with putting her into the Reserve Course and the whispers of his only daughter being “talent-less”. Still, she doesn’t complain. After all, it’s not like going to Hope’s Peak and befriending a few prodigies from across the globe would be the end of her, ȑ̸̭͉͙̗̟̹̬̃̂̌͘ḯ̸̡̞͚̳͍͎͠ͅǧ̸̢̫͖̦̱̝̠̲͖̻̲͇̳̂͊̈́̏̏̋̓̍̉̋̽͝ͅh̴̡̡̙͔͈̜̪͖̰̹̿́̋͊̇̐̂͒̑͑͝͝t̵̼̭̳̪͎̖͈̓̎̊͜ͅ?̵̢̜̗̦̹͖̣̟̰̭̟̭̺̪̳͂̑͑̀̇̌̉͛͐̂͛̚͘͠͠
If anything, she sees it as an opportunity to expand her knowledge and to possibly make something greater than her father’s “legacy”. And who knows? Maybe here in this place filled with wonders and oddities, she could finally feel like the most normal person in the room.
Some tidbits/headcanons about Luck/Hope!Kyoko:
Appearance-wise, the closest thing I’d go to is @tifannilly‘s old yet super cute design of her own Luck!Kyoko.
Is bisexual
Despite her claims of being too rational for her own good, she is very empathic and will drop almost everything to help a friend in need.
Basically a budding anime Nancy Drew, if that makes any sense.

The Goodbyes are Getting Old
really just a self-indulgent vent fic, if i’m honest. also, if you don’t know much about danganronpa: kirigiri (the novels), then you most likely won’t know who yui samidare is, not what a duel noir is. yui is basically kyoko’s best friend or chosen-family, referenced in how kyoko calls her “yui-oneesama” in the novels. this also probably won’t follow the canon arc of the series, due to the fact that i have only read the first novel. sorry!
———————————————————————
Kyoko Kirigiri sat on the floor of her dorm room. She was sitting on her bare legs, although she didn’t register the discomfort of the action, due to her raging storm of a mind. Her hands were resting on her knees, shaking as her breath hitched and the tears in her eyes threatened to spill. She looked over to her nightstand and saw a picture of herself and Yui Samidare and lost all self control she had left. A sob choked itself out of her and she curled up onto the floor, sobbing. Her mascara ran down her cheeks, her usually spot-on, mess free makeup becoming messed up by the drops of tears flowing freely from her eyes.
Her grandfather would scold her, she knew that. Her father would probably comfort her, but she didn’t want that. She didn’t want his comfort. She wanted him out of his life, but him being the headmaster of the school she attended made that impossible.
The school she attended. Her class. Her friends. They, were her friends, right? Yeah, she just lost one, but she should be thankful; she had fifteen other friends, all of whom she saw on an almost daily basis.
Even though she could be considered lucky for having so many friends, some closer than others, she just lost the one friend whom she was closest to. The friend she worked with, the friend who stayed by her side through thick and thin, the friend who visited her in the hospital after her hands were changed forever. Yui was the one person she felt comfortable showing emotion around.
Yui wouldn’t judge her. Yui didn’t judge her. Yui always say with her, always allowed her to express emotions; she didn’t reprimand her for showing feelings, she accepted her feelings. Hell, Yui was like her big sister in all ways except for the fact that they weren’t biologically related.
Chosen families were a thing, right? Kyoko has heard that some people with poor home lives (like herself?), or even average people with excellent home lives chose their own family. Even if they weren’t related to someone, they could still be family. Even if there weren’t any legal papers to show guardianship or parentship over someone, they would still be considered family.
Family didn’t need to be blood.
She looked over at the picture on her wall; it was a small, framed picture of her and her class together after a gym competition. She was sitting, smiling, next to one of her closest friends, an average boy named Makoto Naegi.
Tumblr media
He would probably freak out if he saw her like this, saw her in a fetal position on the floor with tears running down her face and gasps coming from her mouth.
The thought of his likely expression caused her to giggle.
The sound was quiet and one so unlike her, but it slowed the flow of her tears. With a breath, she sat up into a sitting position on the floor, her legs crossed beneath her and her hands wiping at her face.
She stood slowly, shaky on her legs, and walked to her nightstand. She picked up the photo on her nightstand, the one of her and Yui, and walked to the bathroom with it in her hand. After placing it onto her sink, she grabbed her makeup remover and looked at it as she removed her makeup from her face. She heard her phone go off in the other room and, leaving the photo in the bathroom, went to retrieve it. She picked it up with one hand while using her other to wipe her makeup. The first thing she did when she turned it on was look at the clock on it.
9:56 PM flashed at her from the screen.
Kyoko froze. She had received the call that her informed her of... Yui’s death around eight PM. Had she really been crying for almost two hours? The thought of her showing so much expression, vulnerability, for such a long time period would surely make her grandfather rage with disappointment.
As her memory of the call came back to her, she remembered that she needed to go to the hospital at which Yui had passed away in. According to the call, Yui had been attending a Duel Noir case, during which she had become a victim.
Kyoko and her grandfather would likely need to plan the funeral. Due to Yui’s disconnection from her family, they likely wouldn’t even attend the entire event (events we’re supposed to be cheery, but this one certainly wouldn’t be).
With a sigh and a shake of her head to clear it, Kyoko looked down at the notification that caused her phone to go off in the first place. it was a text from Makoto. She opened up the texting app to see what he needed.
———————————————————————
PRIVATE MESSAGE: kiwigiwi and naeggi
naeggi: KIRI!!! i’m thinking of asking hina, maizono, togami and kuwata if they want to go too, but i wanted to ask you first :) do you want to go to an arcade with me tomorrow? i heard about one that recently opened up and it seems fun. it isn’t too expensive either
kiwigiwi: i would accept the offer, however something just came up, so that does mean that i will have to decline. i hope that you are not offended or sad about this.
———————————————————————
With a sigh, she closed the app and placed her phone onto her bed. She went back into the bathroom and put her makeup back on, but not all of it; the detective only applied her mascara, eyeliner and a small bit of lipstick. Deciding that it was good enough, she grabbed a simple cardigan and place it over her button-up before retrieving her phone, car keys and dorm keys.
After locking her dorm, she set down the hallway. The soft clicking of her shoes was quickly interrupted as a door opened and closed, followed by a gasp and the sound of running.
Kyoko turned around, only to see that Makoto running at her at top speed. Before he could slam into her, she held out her arms; he crashed into her outstretched arms, which caused both of them to fall onto the floor with an “oof”.
In a sitting position, Makoto was on top of Kyoko with her arms slightly wrapped around him. After pushing him back a little, she rubbed her knee and raised one of her eyebrows, an unspoken question on her lips. Makoto wuickly bounced, and fell, backwards, landing on his back. He let out a groan.
“I’m sorry!” he apologized. He sat up and rubbed at his shoulder. The Super High School Level Lucky Student looked at the detective and tipped his head to the side. “Anyways! I saw your text and saw the time and came out to get a snack from the dining hall before nighttime. But then I saw you! So here I am!”
“Was is necessary to run at me like that, though, Naegi-kun?”
“Um... no,” he admitted, “but you looked like you were leaving and I wanted to catch you before you did. Are you okay? You seem rushed.”
“I apologize if I made you worried,” Kyoko stated, her stoic mask stuck onto her face without slipping. “I do have business to attend to, however, so I do need to leave now.”
Makoto, not noticing the urgent undertone in her voice, asked, “Did you get a case? Will you be gone for a while?”
“No, I did not get a case, although I likely will not be at class tomorrow.”
“Class tomorrow...? It’s the weekend— oh, shoot! It’s Monday tomorrow! We have homework!”
“Excellent observation, Naegi-kun,” Kyoko chuckled. “I do need to be heading out now, though. I will text you later.”
“Okay... bye, Kiri-san! See you later!”
With that, Kyoko turned aorund and headed out the door, towards the main entrance of the school and out towards her car. Once inside, she turned on the radio at a low volume and set off towards the hospital.

i high key love your new fic curiosity kills the cat and i was just wondering why you decided on a norwegian forest cat for tsuna? and what the other cast of khr would be/look like as cats in your opinion?
Thank you!! I’m so happy you love it!!
The answer is under the read more ❤️
I didn’t have too big of a reason to make Tsuna a Norwegian Forest Cat. The long fur was really what sold me.
As for the others;
Hayato - grey with green eyes (went with a Nebelung instead of a Burmese as per a suggestion I got!
Takeshi - I kinda picture him as a black cat with some white on his chest, maybe with a bobtail
Kyoko - in a not very stunning twist, I picture her as a red cat, so I went with a Somali
Ryohei - and because Ryohei is her brother, I went with a grey Somali
Kyoya - of course, had to be a black cat with blue eyes
Mukuro - Mukuro would be a really weird cat. dark blue fur, red & blue eyes. unfortunately, the closest I can get to that is a Russian blue and even then it’s just not blue enough.
Chrome - and you know I encountered the same damn problem with Chrome. she’d be a dark purple cat with a missing right eye. the closest I can get is an edited(?) purple Russian blue.
Lambo - still up in the air about this boy but if he did go, he’d be another black cat with green eyes.
Reborn - I’ve tossed the idea around and eventually decided he’d be a black serval cat
Hana - she’s a long-haired black cat with dark eyes
Haru - she’s a dark brown cat with brown eyes
Tetsuya - considering that he has long hair in a pompadour, I think he’d be a black cat with curly fur
Ken - big ol’ cream-colored cat with brown eyes
Chikusa - a black cat with blue eyes, but this is the only black cat wearing a beanie I could find ahaha
M.M - since she also has red hair, she’d be a bright red cat, but she has indigo/purple eyes
Byakuran - he’s a white cat with a purple mark on his cheek but since that’s impossible to find on real cats, this is what you get
Shoichi - i’ve got quite a lot of red cat on the list, but he is also a ginger cat with darker red stripes and green eyes
Spanner - i picture that he’d be a cream point cat with blue eyes.
Shamal - i think he’d be a dark-brown cat with brown eyes
Bianchi - bianchi has straight up pink hair so like, lilac is about as close as it gets, but she would be a pink cat with green eyes
Bermuda - although bermuda is definitely edgy, i picture him to be black cat with a lot of white for some reason, so have this
Aria - another black cat with blue eyes
Uni - i think her hair is blue/teal (depending on anime/manga), so i think she’d be a blue cat with blue eyes
Colonnello - although colonnello’s hair is brighter than this, i think this cat fits pretty well. cream colored with blue eyes.
Lal - in the anime, it puts her burn scar on her cheek, but in the manga, it’s over her eye, and i think i’ll go with the manga’s take on it. aside from that, i imagine she’s another blue cat, with brown eyes.
Verde - there are no existing green cats lmao (aside from that one that was covered in paint, i think it was?), but he would be one. as for shape & size, i’m going with this one. just to clarify, he’ll still be a green cat with purple eyes.
Fon - since fon and kyoya are related, i thought about making fon a black cat, but decided it’d be cool if he were black and orange, with brown eyes. like the orange would be in the shape of his hidden dragon tattoo? maybe?
Skull - another unnaturally colored cat, aka bright purple with purple eyes. i think i’ll skip the piercings though ahaha. bonus cat pic here
Mammon - mammon is a little complicated because they’re hidden under a hood 100% of the time and what you do know of them is that they have purple hair, so essentially yet another unnaturally colored cat (although are they really unnaturally colored if they’re all in a universe full of people/animals with quirks? plus it’s anime so like, whatever). aka another purple cat
Xanxus - i think he fits a Maine Coone, dark brown with red eyes and lots of scars
Belphegor - i tried to look for fancy cat breeds and turkish angora seemed appropriate for this prince. so a cream-colored cat. since his eyes are never shown, i’m just gonna go for green, but lussuria did state that his eyes are “both cool and loyal” whatever that means. might mean blue? i don’t know.
Squalo - we all know he’d have long grey fur. his eyes are also grey. this is about as close as i think i imagine he’d look like.
Levi - he’d be one big cat. i picture he’d black, maybe with some hidden patterns in his fur? to represent his facial hair ahaha
Lussuria - can i just say that luss gave me some trouble? like, a green and blond cat? (not going from his ten-year-later form, by the way). one side is just green? or like his shoulder is green and the rest of him is blond/brown? yeah. i don’t know. this works instead maybe.
Fran - this boy is also another green cat, but a seafoam green. at least it’s all over. including his green eyes.
Basil - he’d be a cute little brown tabby with blue eyes, maybe?
Kikyo - ahaha a seafoam green cat with teal eyes 100%, but this is a good ref too.
Bluebell - tiny baby blue kitten with blue eyes
Zakuro - what’s that? another red cat? yes. a red cat indeed with brown eyes.
Deisy - what’s with all these green cats? but yeah, another one. the kind of cat you look at and you’re like… that’s one creepy cat. (also is it really spelled Deisy? people used to say Daisy because that makes more sense)
Torikabuto - this boi was basically a free for all. who knows what’s under that mask? was it ever revealed? maybe. i think he’d be a charcoal Bengal cat. i don’t know, that’s just what i picture.
Enma - you thought we were done with red cats? nope. have another one. red cats, red eyes. the whole picture.
Adelheid - adelheid would be a black cat with red eyes and just thinking about that is. oof. spooky.
Julie - i genuinely have no idea what shade his hair is, but i think it’s a light orange? that’s what i’ve been seeing around, so i’m going with it. a light orange cat with red eyes.
Koyo - another green boi but with red eyes.
Kaoru - blond boy with red eyes.
Shittopi - she does have a patch of hair on her otherwise shaved head, but i think it’s only fitting that she’s a Sphynx cat with red eyes.
Ooyama - the cutest chunky boi. brown & white with red eyes.
Leon - leon would be a rusty-spotted cat, but green. just pure green. and he’d be so confused
I-Pin - she’d be a tiny little black kitten
Dino - another yellow/blond cat. he might have unique patterns because of his tattoos? but i’m not sure yet

[Where My Twin Watches]: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Episode 11
We open in her magical apartment, shining white walls, CG gears floating like some sort of modern-art chandelier, and images of old scrolls hovering around, old manuscripts or what looks like a tapestry with the word ‘Walpurgis-’ on it. Seems Homura’s working on her (latest) plan to defeat the super-Witch and protect Madoka. One thing that struck me between these episodes is that the last time was probably the closest she’s ever gotten to saving Madoka from Contracting, until the Incubator made a last-minute offer while Homura was distracted fighting Walpurgisnacht. But maybe, just maybe, this time it could work? I mean, Madoka hasn’t Contracted, she knows how much of a dick the Incubator is, and has seen all her other friends die as Magical Girls. Maybe this will be enough to keep her away?
...oh who am I kidding. Madoka’s a Protagonist. She may be meek and scared, especially compared to Alpha Madoka, but when it comes down to it she overrules her fears and does what needs to be done, like when she threw away the chemicals in the warehouse. If she thinks that there’s something that she can do, she’s going to try her best to do it. Ugh. Admirable, but doomed to failure. “Time-traveler, Homura Akemi…” Well, look who it is, barging into Homura’s home at the eleventh-hour. What, are you going to brag about how your ‘perfect logic’ is going to prevail, that you still have claim to be the right side? Come on, Incubator, just try to convince me. “Your existence has answered at least one great mystery: Why is Madoka Kaname’s potential as a magical girl so abnormally vast?” ...wut? “You see, a magical girl’s potential is based on the weight of the karmic destiny she bears.” Oh. Oh, fuck. Homura was the cause. Alpha Madoka was a strong Magical Girl, but still lost to Walpurgisnacht. But each of the other timelines we saw, she survived up until she Witchified, didn’t she? I just put it down to Homura’s help, but if she was growing stronger and stronger… If each time Homura rewound time, all for the sake of one single person, reality after reality based around the lone girl Madoka Kaname… Multiple timelines, converging on one point, one person. All the ‘karmic destiny’ of the prior Madokas, concentrated into the next. In trying to save Madoka, Homura turned her into The One. “Excellent work, Homura. You’ve made Madoka into the most powerful witch we’ve ever seen.” Intro sequence. Well. That’s a thing. For what it’s worth, I paused to really read the lyrics of the intro song this time, and goddamn is it obvious now that it’s really Homura’s song. All the references to time, being stuck on a bad path? The songwriter must have been giggling like crazy when they played this in the early episodes. (Oh hey, it ended with the updated RADIO TOWER OF LIES with all five of the girls hanging out on top.) Ep 11: The Only Thing I Have Left to Guide Me A rainy day in Mitakihara City. Oh. “Sayaka Miki Funeral Service.” I guess the cops finally found her body. The school’s turned out for the service, and Madoka’s there with shaded eyes. She knows the truth, but can’t tell anyone. “Up next, the weather forecast.” Geez, show a little tact radioman! Sayaka makes it home, puts away her umbrella as her mother… uh oh. “About Sayaka’s case… Are you sure you don’t know anything about it?” Madoka claims ignorance and walks away. And the camera makes damn sure that we know Mother ain't buying any of it. Gulp. And now Madoka’s just sprawled on her bed, a blank look on her face. Her best friend and Kyoko are dead (what, no mention of Mami?). All because of- YOU. “It wasn’t exactly an unexpected outcome.” For crying out loud Incubator, give her some space, she just came back from the funeral of her best friend! Although knowing the Incubator, it’s taking this opportunity of a damaged emotional state to try and fill its quota sooner rather than later. Wait. Wait wait wait. What did you just say, Incubator? What the FUCK did you just say? “Then, for example, do you feel responsible for the deaths of livestock? Do you ever think about the process by which they become foodstuffs for you?” … “Because they are slated to become food for humans, livestock are fed and provided for all their lives, and given equal chance to reproduce free from natural selection. Cows, pigs, and even chickens have an overwhelmingly higher rate of survival in captivity than in the wild. So isn’t it actually a rather ideal, mutually beneficial relationship for you both?” Alright. Ok. *deep breath* First I’ll try to address the “eating other lifeforms” thing, then I’ll address why this analogy does not even come close to this situation. I’m an omnivore. I eat both meat and plant matter. I eat meat for several reasons, nutritional and ethical. It's not a perfect system, but it works and I consider it good. If it wasn't for the core flaw, I might even admit that the Incubator has a point in them being similar. But all of that is based on one single, fundamental fact: these creatures are not sapient. You can’t talk to them. Incubator, I’m going to bring something up called the Hierarchy of Foreignness (a system created in the Orson Scott Card “Ender’s Game” series). A general description is that it classifies groups or species based on both their species and ability to communicate, ranging from Utlanning (same species, easy communication) to Djur (different species, non-sapient). Note the communication aspect, that’s crucial. Sapience is a divisive subject, but I think we can all agree that if communication was possible between us and another species, if we could talk to them and they could rationally answer in kind then there’s no way in hell they would be on the menu. And yet, even though the Incubators can clearly communicate with us, even though they know that we are capable of reasoning, of storing and transmitting ideas, of generalization and abstract ideas… they still treat us as a resource. “Are you saying it’s the same between you and us?” “On the contrary, our treatment of humankind is much more respectful than your treatment of livestock. Perhaps it isn’t perfect, but we do acknowledge your species as sentient and try to deal fairly with you.” And there we go! Sentient, not sapient. Awareness, not reasoning. We raise cattle as livestock because it is the best solution and they are not sapient beings. You assholes stumbled across a rock full of sapient, rationalizing beings that you could communicate with and turned them into batteries. But wait, there’s more! The Incubator proceeds to show a horrified Madoka images of humanity’s history, from caves to castles. “We have intervened in your civilization’s development since prehistoric times. Countless girls throughout time have made Contracts with Incubators, had their wishes granted, and then ultimately succumbed to despair (images of woman I assume to be Cleopatra, based on pyramids and snakebite). Beginning in hope and then ending in a curse; that is the cycle that countless magical girls have repeated to this day. There are some who have wrought revolutions that changed history (Joan of Arc?), or elevated human society to new stages of development.” And so that gives you the right to harvest a thinking species, then? You set these girls on the path to destruction, get your precious emergy, and think we should be grateful for the privilege? Madoka breaks down into tears, cries about how they all trusted the Incubators. Who just claims that it wasn’t the Incubators who betrayed them, but their own prayers. That is the equivalent of saying “I gave them a box of matches, it’s not my fault they ended up burning down the house.” It goes on to argue that all hopes are Wishes for something other than the current reality, and anything that doesn’t match reality is bound to cause change. And of course, Change is Bad, so… “If they considered such a natural outcome to be a ‘betrayal’, they were wrong to have made wishes at all.” Really? Really, Incubator? So you’re saying that since change inevitably results in at least some negative outcomes, it’s wrong to try and enact change? Say, trying to prevent the natural heat-death of the universe? “Not that I’m calling them foolish.” Oh no, you’re just calling them acceptable, unintentional sacrifices. “If you understand now, why are you still holding the fates of a few individuals to be so precious?” Because they are individuals. Because the ending of a rational life, one that is denied a future of experiences and progress and chances to help other lives… Civilizations that exist based on the suffering of others are not worthy of the term. And the Incubators passed that line long ago. Madoka numbly looks up to the Incubator and asks if after all the time they spent watching over those girls they really feel nothing for them at all. The Incubator blithely retorts that if they could “understand suffering”, they wouldn’t need humanity in the first place. A society that treats emotion as a mental disease, to whom the concept of empathy for one another is foreign. Incubator, as surprised as you are that a world of individuals could move beyond the basest of conflicts, I am just as surprised that a species of a single mind could… no, I can’t say that I am surprised that a single focused mind could progress so far. But it is not a society that I would want to be a part of. The Incubator claims that if they had never come to Earth, then humanity would still be living naked in caves. I think you underestimate us. But even if that were true, it would be preferable to your schemes. ...I’m sorry, I can’t take anymore tonight.
*once again, needed an angry sleep to calm down* *calls for one final show prediction*
Well, my guessing has been so spot on so far, why stop now? This is the scenario we have, the elements leading into this finale: -Madoka has not Contracted -Homura knows her time travel has resulted in Madoka’s Protagonist Potential -Walpurgisnacht is inbound, which means bad times for Muggles -All the other MGs besides Homura are dead -Madoka’s Mom suspects that she’s hiding something about Sayaka -Homura is going to try and fight Wally on her own like last timeline, hoping that Madoka won’t Contract From this, I can see three possibilities: (Good Ending) Homura attempts to fight Walpurgisnacht on her own (because that worked so well last time). Brave, heroic, foolish Madoka intervenes, Wishes Mami (or best-case scenario Sayaka and Kyoko as well) back to life, and all the girls work together to destroy Wally. Homura is upset that Madoka still became a MG, but Madoka says that it’s her choice. All the girls will have to be careful, but knowing the risks of despair on their Soul Gems (and the other two/four keeping an eye on Mami so she doesn’t go all Spark-Hunter on them) they work to protect their city and prevent other girls from Contracting. Eventually all the Witches are exterminated, so no need to use up their Soul Gems anymore, they are locked away. Show ends with all three/five girls walking to class, another chance at normal lives. (Was just about to post this when I got the unpleasant realization that this is impossible. "Lock away the Soul Gems"? Wouldn't work. Damn. Ok, so best-case scenario the girls actively avoid using magic, but they still have to carry around this reminder. Still leagues better than where they are now, but... damn, even when I try to come up with a Good ending Urobuchi blocks me. ) (Feels Ending) Homura attempts to fight Walpurgisnacht on her own. Madoka intervenes, makes a Wish that Homura doesn’t hear, and destroys Walpurgisnacht. With her last words before she turns into a Witch, she asks Homura to not give into despair, and keep trying. Homura travels to another timeline, but when she gets there her shield shatters and her Soul Gem disappears. And when she gets to school, Madoka is nowhere to be found. (Urobutcher Ending) Madoka is about to go and try to help Homura, when her mother stops her with several men in uniform. Madoka is taken away for questioning about Sayaka, while the police car is stuck in traffic Walpurgisnacht attacks and destroys the car in passing. Homura tries to fight Walpurgisnacht, but loses like last time. Knowing that if she goes back again Madoka will be further tied up with Protagonist Potential, Homura gives up and her Soul Gem turns black. ...yep. So, so much fun coming up with these predictions. And even though for the last one I tried thinking of what could make me punch my screen, I wouldn’t bet that Urobuchi will find some way to top it. Ugh.
Still raining, scene change to a bar?
“It really does hurt, losing one of my own students this way…”
Oh. Ouch. Looks like the girl’s teacher is trying to cope. And she still doesn’t know what really happened to Sayaka, and we know that she never will. Add in a missing third-year student…
All they’ve got to go on is the fact that Sayaka was ‘quarreling’ with a friend over a boy. Aw jeez, Hitomi’s got to be in a bad spot right now, huh? Probably thinks that she drove Sayaka off? Kinda true, but not the whole story. Ten-to-one that the Incubator plans on paying a brown-haired girl a visit later.
So the cops are calling it “an accidental death, exacerbated by mental stress after running away from home.” So in other words, they’ve got no clue how she actually died. I suppose one’s soul turning into a Witch wouldn’t leave any real signs.
Oh, so Teach is talking with Mrs. Kaname! Should have realized when this convo took place in a bar. Heh, remember back when it was just jokes about Madoka’s Mom having to drink with her brotastic colleagues, and planning a coup of her department? Those were good times.
Uh oh. Mrs. Kaname’s admitting that she thinks Madoka knows something. But she also doesn’t seem like she’s lying… I think Mrs. Kaname’s thinking over that late-night advice on making a mistake for a friend. Madoka did say that a friend was getting into trouble. So much guilt being felt by all these secondary characters: Hitomi thinks she drove Sayaka away over Kamijo, Teach is worried about students going missing from school, Mrs. Kaname knew ‘a friend’ of Madoka’s was in a bad spot. Can’t say the blame falls fully on any of them, but I bet they feel like it does.
Mrs. Kaname bemoaning that for the first time, she can’t tell what Madoka is thinking. With things seeming off lately, she can tell something’s weighing on her but Madoka hasn’t talked about it. Understandable given the subject matter, but from Mother’s perspective Madoka doesn’t trust her anymore. And all she can do is trust Madoka.
Back at Homura’s place, doorbell? Oh, Madoka’s going to talk to Homura! She asks if all the floating diagrams are about Wally, says that Kyoko told her about the super-witch. Been a while since we last saw Kyoko, I can’t remember if that was onscreen on this is just establishing how Madoka could know about it.
Ah, seems Madoka’s here because she was told Wally is such a strong witch one person can’t beat it on their own. Homura was planning to team up with Kyoko… but then stuff happened. Madoka asks if Homura’s been planning on fighting it all this time, which gets an odd look from the time-traveler. Madoka rallies and asks if the city will be in danger.
Homura’s explaining that Walpurgisnacht is so powerful it doesn’t need to hide in a Labyrinth. If it manifests, thousands die. Muggles can’t see it, so they just think it’s caused by some natural disaster.
Madoka asks, or rather says that it absolutely has to be defeated… yup, Protagonist. Sorry, Homura, but I look at Madoka now and see someone who knows that there is a problem, and a way that she can help against it. With all the other girls gone, Homura will need help, so Madoka suggests that-
Homura cuts her off, insisting that she can do it on her own, claims that she never even needed Kyoko’s help. Yyyyeah, even Madoka knows that you’re bluffing. Then… oh! “I don’t know why, but I really want to believe in you, Homura. I don’t want to think that you’d lie to me.” Aw now you’ve done it Homura, you made Madoka cry. Feel the guilt. Feeeel it!
Urg, so many feels right now. Madoka’s crying because Homura is lying to her, and Homura’s clenching her fists and teeth because-
“I’m not even living in the same time that you are, Madoka!”
OUCH. Homura has broken down, rushed over and grabbed Madoka in a hug, our Protagonist is standing there very much off-guard. Cold, distant Homura is finally telling Madoka her story, that she’s from the future. That she’s met Madoka over and over, and each time had to watch her die.
“What do I have to do to save you? What do I have to do to change your fate?” She’s been redoing this month trying to find an answer. Yeah, not blaming you for your confusion Madoka, this is a big change from the Homura that you knew.
“I’m sorry… I’m not making any sense, right? I must seem horribly creepy, right?” Madoka’s known this Mysterious Transfer Student for barely a month, while Homura’s known Madoka for who knows how long. And for all Madoka is a kind and compassionate Protagonist, she really doesn’t know what do with this weepy girl.
“But to me… To me, you are…”
...well.
“The more times I redo all this, the further in time we drift from one another. Our feelings drift further apart, and my words don’t even reach you anymore. The truth is, I think I’ve been lost for a very long time now.”
“I will save you. That was the feeling that I started all of this with. And now, it is the only thing I have left to guide me.” Title drop! “It’s ok if you don’t understand. It’s ok if my words don’t reach you. But, please… Please… just let me protect you.”
...yup. That was one heck of a gut punch. I can say I understand the MadoHomu shippers now, that “To me, you are…” is all but a confession to me. However, I will still stand by my friendship interpretation because damnit my Ship of Death has killed off half the cast already, and I wanna see this girls live.
Cut to a dark and stormy sky, thunder and lightning. Some dudes are remarking that the thunderclouds are spreading at unbelievable speeds, call for an evacuation of the city. All the residents are getting ordered to their nearest shelters, and now the streets are empty.
Except for one person. A dark-haired girl in a school uniform, overlooking the water.
“It’s here.”
(For the record, as soon as I typed that the internet decided that “Eh, that’s a good place to crash”. Thankfully fixed it, but for a while there I was yelling at Wally for breaking my computer.)
Now we’re at a fancy building with lots of glass (as per the norm in this city), apparently it’s a gym of sorts that’s serving as a shelter, lots of families on green mats around the court. Not sure how much of a ‘shelter’ the building is with all the giant windows, let alone how it’s probably not Witch-proof, but better than everyone being at home I guess. Madoka’s family are at their own mat. Daw, been ages since I last saw the little brother and the Dad, Brother’s cute asking if they’re camping tonight and Dad saying it’s a great big group campout. But Madoka’s turned away from the rest of the family, clutching her knees. Taking bets on how long she lasts until she runs off to try and help, I’m giving it five minutes.
Back at Homura, colors are going monochrome, and a fog is spreading across the river. Once it reaches Homura she gives one last MST hair-flip, and starts walking. Wait, hold up, wasn’t she just behind a railing, facing the river? Is the fog a sign of warped reality so that the railing isn’t there anymore, or what?
Ah. Some sort of crayon rabbit-thing (not an Incubator, just has ears like a rabbit) just ran by Homura. Reality warping it is. And it just got stomped on by an elephant? Ok, looks like while Wally doesn’t have/need a labyrinth it does project a cirusy-vibe.
A lace curtain rises, and the music kicks in. A countdown begins. 5. 4. Buildings rise behind Homura. 2. The pastel circus passes by her. 1. Shattered buildings rise up and Walpurgisnacht looms from the clouds, an upside-down mannequin in a flowy dress with giant gears above.
The Future has arrived. Walpurgisnacht is here.
Homura launches into a quick transformation sequence (is this the first time we’ve seen her transform?), clicks her shield… and whoa that’s a lot of rocket launchers. No seriously, I am seeing dozens of RPGs and bazookas set up around her, how long did it take her to gather all of these?
So yeah, Homura’s starting off by freezing time and blasting dozens of explosives at Wally. Who just laughs a creepy echoey laugh and floats off breathing technicolor flames as Homura now runs about triggering mortars. That likewise seem to do no damage. Dang, even Homura’s early pipe bombs could destroy a Witch quickly, what’s Walpurgisnacht made of? Alright, will collapsing some metal towers on the Witch work? Nope. Now… do I hear a truck?
Abridged!Dio: “Look what I’ve got!”
Ok, the explosions keep coming as Homura drives a freaking tanker up the bridge into Wally’s face. And then ok what the hell, is that a sub? Did Homura just launch a freaking missile into this Witch? Half a dozen missiles? And then two that ram Wally into the industrial area? Sorry Mami, but as impressive as it was to see you summon a company-worth of muskets, I think Homura has you beat in firepower here.
Argh, but even after getting hit by friggin missiles Walpurgisnacht is still inta- oh, that’s a bomb. Oh, that’s a lot of bombs. OH, that’s a shitton of bombs!
But the music’s not stopping. It sounds like it’s building up, even. Aw crap, are you telling me that THAT wasn’t enough? Homura just blasted this thing into a building practically made of bombs, what more do you want?!
Crap, yeah. Homura just got struck by some sort of starry-whip, and Walpurgisnacht appears no worse for wear. Homura, I really hope you’ve got some more firepower stashed away.
All these explosions are shaking the shelter, Madoka’s parents are looking up at the ceiling worriedly and not saying anything. Madoka’s still off to the side, clutching her- wait, she just stood up. And said that she’s going to the bathroom. *Checks time, just under 3 minutes* Damn, even faster than I guessed.
Madoka’s looking out the (probably not storm-proof) giant glass windows at the pouring rain, and for crying out loud the Incubator is perched on the railing. She asks it if Homura was telling the truth about being able to face Wally on her own, the Incubator asks if she’d believe it anyways if it told her no. “At this point, explanations are pointless. You should go and see for yourself. See how well Homura Akemi is faring against Walpurgisnacht.” Manipulative to the end, aren’t you you little jerk.
It then proceeds to frankly say that Homura hasn’t given up hope yet. If she loses, then she can still turn back time, restart this ‘meaningless’ chain of events over and over. Because it’s no longer possible for her to stop or give up.
“The moment she acknowledges that everything she has done is pointless, and your fate is impossible to change, Homura Akemi will fall into despair and turn into a Grief Seed.”
Aw hell. The Urobuchi’s setting up Ending #3, isn’t he? Come on Homura, don’t fall to despair! You can’t give up on Madoka, even if you fail again this time you could still save the Madoka in the next timeline!
“So you’re saying that as long as she continues to hope, she can’t be saved?”
...no. No no NO. Do NOT do this to me, Urobuchi! I am begging you, do NOT make Ending #2 happen either! It doesn’t matter if Madoka Wishing for Homura to not be trapped in her quest to save Madoka would end the problem, if we end with either both girls dying or Madoka Wishing Homura free from the time loops, I am going to scream. Damn it, cut these girls a break!
Damn it. Madoka has dried her tears and is walking away. Either to lichdom to save another or to her death, I do not know. But away she goes.
Holy crap, Mom out of nowhere! She just grabbed Madoka’s hand.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Aw shoot, she’s confronting Madoka. If I see people in uniform show up I am going to break something.
Madoka says that she has to go save a friend, but Mother cuts her off and says to leave it to the firefighters. You know, the guys with rescue training that a middle-school girl doesn’t have.
Our Protagonist insists that it has to be her- oh! Mother just slapped her. “You don’t live your life just for yourself, understand?!”
But Madoka understands. She knows how much her mother and father care, because she loves her family too. And in order to protect them and her friend, she has to go somewhere else now.
Damn, props to Mother. Even not knowing everything that’s going on, even with such a terrible ‘storm’ outside, she says that she’s going with Madoka if she’s leaving. But Madoka says no, that she needs to stay and makes sure Father and Tatsuya stay safe.
“Mom, you told me you had raised me well. I don’t tell lies (*beyond not explaining Magical Girls*). I don’t do bad things. Will you believe in me now? Will you trust that I’ll do what’s right?”
Mother raises a hand. And then lowers it. And then launches Madoka forward with a pat on the back. Got to admit, for a second I thought that Madoka was going to fall down the stairs. What a way to end the show, right? But no, it’s a heartwarming moment between mother and daughter.
Back to Terrible Things! Walpurgisnacht is heading deeper into the city, Homura chasing while being surrounded by laughing starry MG-silhouettes. And of course Wally is heading for the shelter, as if this wasn’t bad enough already. If you’ve got anything left Homura, now’s the time to use it!
Um. Ouch. A building to the face has got to smart.
Aw crud, Homura’s foot is trapped. Is she…? Yup, she’s grabbing her shield, preparing to reset again. But if she goes back again, Madoka will get more tied up in MG potential.
No. No no no nope uh-uh NO. You do not get to give up now, Homura. You are not going to go Ending #3 and make Madoka have to fight two friggin Witches. Do NOT give up! No no NO
Madoka’s here.
“That’s enough. You’ve done enough, Homura.”
The music from the Future Dream/secondary credits has just started. The Incubator walks up beside Madoka.
“Madoka… you didn’t…!”
“Homura… I’m sorry.”
And credits.
After-credits picture of all five magical girls.
“If someone says it’s wrong to have hope, then I’ll tell them they’re wrong, every single time. And I know I’ll always tell them so.”
Final Episode: My Very Best Friend
*phew* Ok, we got way too close to Ending #3 there for me. And it’s clear that Madoka is going to make a Contract and become a MG to fight Walpurgisnacht. The only question now is what she’s going to Wish for.
I have to re-evaluate #2 now, given the after-credits line about Madoka always saying it’s wrong to give up hope. I can’t see someone who says that ending Homura’s quest, even with good intentions. So it’s more likely that Madoka will make the Wish about this timeline and just give Homura the inspiring speech, that just because this timeline didn’t work out that doesn’t mean she should give up on the future. So maybe a Wish like “I Wish I had the power to save this city from Walpurgisnacht”, or best-case “I Wish for my friends back to help me fight Walpurgisnacht”, and when Madoka runs out Homura leaves for the next timeline. And so we end with another failure, but hope that someday Homura will succeed.
*Sigh* Well, whatever happens next, bittersweet or just bitter, it’s been a trip. Thank you all for joining me in this WMTW, I will hope beyond hope that Homura will find peace someday.
