I’m loving the new Lottie storyline this season because it’s so ironic that Lottie’s whole thing is getting her adherents to tap into their emotions and process their trauma, but it’s clear that she has NEVER done this herself. Whether or not she’s a seer, or if she was and the electroshock destroyed it, it’s clear that she is a hypocrite. I think she’s well-meaning. I do. But she is helping others through their trauma as a substitute for dealing with her own. I’m really excited to see what this season does with her. I’m also just glad she’s alive in general, because this way the survivors can reconcile with/confront their de facto leader and gain a new perspective on what happened out there that’s less blurred and mystical.

I’m pretty sure this has been touched upon within the ‘Yellowjackets’ fandom on here but either way i would still like to talk about it! I’ve been seeing people take Shauna’s dream part of ‘Qui’ as her craving mother hood ( almost as much as she did Jackie 😊 )

However i saw it more as her wanting to keep something alive thus the failing breast feeding scene which turns successful, i feel like it is meant to represent how she didn’t take Jackie inside and her guilt of failing her ( ? ) also when her dream turns into a nightmare she sees her friends eating her baby which also made me think of them eating Jackie.

Also the scene where she mentions still being able to hear him crying could also represent her hallucinations of Jackie

Overall i think ep 6 was just one big extended metaphor of Jackie’s demise ( ? )

yellowjackets is a show about a girls high school soccer team from new jersey in 1996 who crash in the canadian wilderness on their way to nationals, and then have to survive for 19 months

it’s spliced together with cuts from current day (2021) where we see some of the survivors in their current lives, and the chaos that they’ve been facing

the cast is incredible-lauren ambrose, tawny cypress, melanie lynskey, jasmin savory brown, cristina ricci, ella prunell (and way more)

there are queer characters played by queer actors, there’s queer actors who play characters of sexualities that are left up to interpretation, and the entire cast is just phenomenal

it’s a gore heavy and brutal show and i’d recommend checking out the content warnings in advance (i did not and oh boy-don’t go in blind) but it is phenomenal. absolutely amazing and it will get you thinking

so normal. they LOVE each other, no matter if it was romantic or platonic they had a massive amount of love. they were intertwined from the moment they met. travis and natalie had dug their claws into each other.

“i just want you to stay”

“yeah. yeah, okay. i’ll stay”

natalie wanted to understand him and she did. when he agonized over his dads death she talked to him. she brought herself to his defense. cut off his dads ring when he couldn’t because she knew he needed it. when the girls went insane on shrooms while natalie realized her love for him. she saved him from the slaughter, took a knife against her TEAM for him. even when he had pushed and pushed and PUSHED her away. something about her clutching him and telling him she will help him and she won’t let go.

“i don’t want your help”

“i know”

nat and travis hunted and trekked and put food on the table when nobody else would. they relied on only each other for MONTHS—an entire YEAR. no one else could quite understand them the same. the work that went in to ensuring the groups survival. natalie saw travis grow ragged from hoping his brother was alive and tried to stop it. by making him believe javi was dead if only to stop him from tearing himself apart. she wanted the best for him. travis held her when she lost the moose, when she almost let herself die because she wasn’t a failure, she was loved.

“i let him die in my place”

javi was killed after months they spent searching for him. natalie even when she didn’t have to but she did. for him and for herself, he was a child and nat at her core cared so much. travis always saw that in her. she watched the last piece of, in her situation, innocence die at her hands. in the choice for her to be slaughtered travis saved her. watching her stare down shauna with knife to her neck and even in anger he couldn’t let her go. he PUSHED and told her to run, let her escape. travis sent his brother, the only one who could understand he needed natalie to live. he saved her and it cost his brother his life. they gave him a choice—consume your brother and appreciate the gift of his sacrifice or die and starve. her hand over his heart. she’s always had it and he’s had hers.

“who does natalie have? other than travis?”

as adults they were judged and criticized for their trauma and the addiction and mental illness it left them with. sometimes by people like tai, van, and shauna who acted as if they weren’t just hiding it better, like they hadn’t gone through the same thing. they CLUNG to each other for that one bit of comfort even when it destroyed them. of course they were toxic, how could they be anything else. but there was love there.

imagine travis who had tried so hard to live, wanted peace so he could take the life he had been given at the expense of the lives of others. his death was ruled a suicide. natalie looked for anything to disprove this. how could the person who made that pact with her, the one person who loved her more than anything do this. natalie the woman who tried so hard to get clean and let go of the addiction that had haunted her most of her life. her death was ruled an OD and even in death they could not get the respect they deserved.

anyway i am just so normal about them.
