We make a lot of fun of Buggy but, honestly, I would be fucking angry at the world all the time too. Imagine growing up as your best friend's shadow, always being seen as the weak and the clown because of course, Shanks is the legacy. He's the strongest. He's the one to wear the straw hat. And you accept that and give up on your dream for him. To follow him because at least that way you'll be able to achieve your dreams, even if you can't call it yours, but his. You give up on your dream and decide to go for an easier path instead, maps and treasure and money and everything a pirate ought to be, but he fucking ruins it. And it's not even his fault, but he's the one to make it happen. Nobody takes you seriously because saying "He made me eat a devil fruit and lost my map" doesn't sound as awful as "He made me lose my independence as a pirate and only way to follow a path of my own and now the sea I love so much hates my guts". And then your father captain dies in front of your god-damned eyes, leaving the youngest generation to continue his legacy. You think "Oh, well, at least Shanks is here. He'll keep the memory of our captain alive", but he hesitates. He shakes under the thought of the future. Falters for a moment. Somebody you —everyone— considers stronger, rougher, smarter and way better as a legacy than you, doubts himself. After so many years of you trusting him despite everything else. After so many years of everyone else trusting him, leaving you behind. So of course it fucking hurts and of course Buggy is rightfully mad. And of course he refuses to go with somebody that doesn't take this as seriously as him. Somebody that made the sea hate him and also hesitates after so many people trusted him doesn't deserve Buggy's love respect. And so Buggy goes away. And now nobody takes him seriously when talking about his past because he has become the clown everyone thought he was. They don't understand how somebody like him shared a room with somebody like Shanks. They don't understand how somebody like him was raised by the king of the pirates himself. But what they'll never know is that Shanks was the one who hesitated. And they'll never know Buggy was the one leaving his dream behind.

So I think Buggy is rightfully angry at everything and everyone and especially Shanks, even if he hasn't actually done anything. Buggy's anger and resentment is one of the things I'll always defend.

FEM SHUGGY IS ROTTING MY BRAIN AGAIN

I think fem Buggy and Shanks would still have this on and off vibe going on, but they'd be more passionate and extreme. One night Buggy will be grabbing at the sheets and Shanks's hair, screaming her name with love. And two days later, she'll be attacking her ship, screaming her name with anger.

Their crews, at first, freaked out and didn't know what to do. Because Buggy's crew genuinely thought they'd die by the hand of a yonko. And Shanks's crew was extremely confused that Shanks didn't let them attack back and only told them to get as close as possible. But then they got close enough to be face to face and it's even more odd. Buggy keeps trying to stab or slice Shanks, who in return keeps dodging with that dumb smile on her face. But then they see the lipstick they're wearing is the same and the crews start putting things together. Eventually Buggy messes up and to stop her from stabbing herself, Shanks moves to protect her, getting hurt instead. Buggy starts laughing manically but it quickly turns into crying and begging Shanks to stay alive (it's very obviously not fatal)

Shanks, as the dramatic woman she is, acts so so so hurt to get Buggy more worried about her. They end up making out on the deck, with the blood puddle under Shanks and everything. The crews wonder if they should help with the wound or leave them be, because it's extremely awkward for everyone. Until the end of the day they're like joined at the hip and disgustingly sweet to each other. But then Shanks wakes up to a note saying something like "Thanks for the gold broke ass bitch" with a kiss stain on it or something like that. And in the place of their treasures there's only a lipstick left, Buggy's ship nowhere to be seen. The crew wants to ask if they should find them and get it back but Shanks has this lovestruck expression and kisses the lipstick stain, treating the crumpled up paper like a love note.

rand is gay, demiromantic & gray ace. he's also deeply repressed about his attraction to men and justifies his attraction to kian with "well he's basically a girl". he completely ignores his feelings for rolan. he's also a virgin bc he never found anyone besides kian and rolan that he's interested in even in the slightest. also he's a loser. in theory he's polyam bc he could never settle for just one dedicated romantic partner for the rest of his life

rolan is somewhere between male leaning biromantic and gay. also sex repulsed ace though it's not quite clear whether he had been ace or if that's a consequence of the buggification. he's always been into rand but he's also a massive homophobe so he's never acted on it and feels quite panicky about his own feelings. he isn't necessarily supportive of kian, but he's his friend so he lets the whole gay thing slide. sometimes while in chicago he forced himself into flirts and hookups with women he met at bars or at work, but it always ended in disaster

kian self identifies as bi, but i think if he had today's understanding of orientation and gender he would id as pan. he's been sexually attracted to rand for ages and they kissed twice, once before kian had even figured out his sexuality and he'd been drinking and sad and kissed rand in broad daylight behind the school and immediately had a panic attack about it, and once a few months before he left galloway when the three of them were smoking weed together and rand brought up their first kiss. they never talked about it again. also had he the vocabulary for it he'd definitely describe his feelings for rand as queerplatonic. he's been in love with rolan and aware of it since he's been 16 or something, but nothing ever came of it, and since he was with becky and really really into her the pining didn't hurt as much as it could have. definitely polyam, big fan of relationship anarchy, big into the drag scene in california and had he had more freedom and time to figure himself out (and had the resources necessary) eventually he would've come to the realization that he's bigender/genderfluid

becky is confidently bisexual and technically monogamous, but if it had ever come to it she would not have minded sharing kian. she also helped kian figure himself out a lot, even before they started officially dating. she taught him how to do makeup and gave him the whole "however you wanna look, whatever you wanna wear, you can" talk

Cross Guild Romance prompt: Buggy is a no show for the morning address at Cross Guild. Beyond annoyed thinking that he's overslept, Mihawk and Crocodile go to Buggy's living quarters. They barge in expecting a sleepy clown. Instead they stumble on a horror scene. Buggy is laying on the floor, beaten and raped, barely alive with a makeshift garotte around his neck. The sight will haunt Mihawk and Crocodile as long as they live as they rush Buggy to the hospital tent. Buggy survives but is deeply traumatized. Mihawk and Crocodile become his unofficial bodyguards, and then slowly become his loving partners/almost husbands. Even as they focus on helping Buggy recover, especially when he can't remember who hurt him, they are still hunting for whoever dared to hurt THEIR clown. Up to you who the perpetrator is, but Mihawk and Crocodile will find this individual and make them regret ever coming out of their mother's womb.

Ummm, plot twist Buggy didn't get raped and most of the blood is that person here him. Buggy basically cat fighter the dude, while his "friends" left in fear.

I doubt Buggy wouldn't fight like a cage animal until the end. Why he's laying there is because he is exhausted from fighting. The clown already called the ports to close them down and get people paroling the beaches for anyone trying to get off the island.

Buggy would be shocked that Mihawk and Crocodile has walked into the mess of what's his space now. I see Buggy be like 'Oh pardon the mess, anyway-' for some reason. And Mihawk and Crocodile standing there in as much shock as their faces can do.

So they go and find the others, and it's a game of cats and mice. All the followers are cheering them on and getting out of the way. Hell maybe throwing things at those nasty assholes. Those peeps are unnamed because they don't deserve to have names

Now I'm thinking Crocodile and Mihawk might think Buggy is heavily hurt. When he's not, but it warms Buggy's heart and makes Buggy flustered.
