Gacha Games I've Played (And Dropped) in 2024

I'm broke but gacha games are free

Soul Tide (2022 - Present)

I didn't even stick with this for a week. I hate almost all gachas where the player characters have the magnetism of shitty harem anime protagonists. This game had that and a VERY inconsistent artstyle between all of its playable characters.

Fortress Saga (2023 - Present)

This shouldn't even really be here since it's more of an idle game than a gacha one, but it has the same shitty monetization as other gacha games and I didn't want to dedicate one post to one game since it's the only idle game I played.

This was fun for maybe the first hour, then it was addicting (but in an unfun, nasty way) for the next 20 hours. It's a shame because I do like the general concept (it's called Fortress Saga since you're running a Howl's Moving Castle-esque castle), but it's designed to be extremely addicting.

You do tasks that will get you pulls, and then you use those pulls to complete tasks which will get you more pulls, and you can use those pulls to complete more tasks to get more pulls to complete more tasks to- you get the idea

Didn't feel like I was playing a game, it felt like I was getting played by the game. I think certain types of people should REALLY avoid this.

Path To Nowhere (2022 - Present)

AKA "I can fix her" the gacha game

This game has some interesting things going for it. Even though I dislike "harem anime protagonist" syndrome, you can at least choose to be a female harem anime protagonist. It may have probably been designed with straight audiences in mind, but a not insignificant portion of the fanbase seems to be queer, so that's pretty neat.

...Unfortunately I just couldn't get into the gameplay. I thought it was just Arknights, but this game confirmed that I cannot play gacha tower defense games AT ALL. Gacha RPGs? I can deal. Gacha tower defence games? Absolutely unplayable to me.

Higan: Eruthyll (2022 - Present)

I thought I'd check out this game, because it's not doing so hot and an end of service announcement may be imminent. It's still not canned yet but I got nothing. Nothing to say about the budget Genshin designs, the story or the auto battler gameplay.

Grimlight (2022 - 2024)

I stuck with this one for a while, mostly because I'm going through a whole "South Koreans doing their own takes on western fairy tales" phase (other things that currently interest me are Lobotomy Corporation, Not Sew Wicked Stepmother and A Wicked Tale of Cinderella's Stepmother. I'm just hooked man).

The story is essentially Kingdom Hearts and the character designs (in the portraits at least) are very nice. There's not much of an actual game though. It's an auto battler so you're not really doing much of anything. The tiny battle sprites don't do the character designs any justice. And when the game's 'cancellation' was announced I had no real reason to continue.

Langrisser Mobile (2019 - Present)

The last game I dropped. It got me to stick around for 3-4 months, which almost no other game did. I think this is actually pretty decent if you're looking for a PVP game, that's just not what I wanted. Having to do PVP matches every day *just for my dailies* ended up being a big reason I dropped it.

The other reason is that progress is sooooo slow. I actually wanted to see how the main plot would get resolved. But 80% of my story progress was in the first month. After that it'd take weeks of grinding just to see the next story cutscene / fight. Then after progressing by one stage, you're back to grinding again.

Even gameplay progress is slow. I thought twice about dropping Grimlight since I had so many characters unlocked. But in Langrisser, I was still using the same 4-character team (Leon, Vargas, Almeda and Liana) from the beginning with only 2-3 new characters I actually picked up and was using (Varna, Bernhardt and Rozenciel).

I respect the game for having some of the coolest crossovers in any gacha (they got Slayers, Valkyria Chronicles 1, Yu Yu Hakusho, Gintama, even Pop Team Epic), I also *love* that dork Almeda, but if I ever play more Langrisser, I hope it's through remasters of the original games.

There is one final game I played, but unlike the others, I didn't actually drop it:

Reverse:1999 (2023 - Present)

That's right this was actually just a roundabout way of saying "I am now a Reverse 1999 fan".

I don't want to get into it now, but it feels more like "Touhou if it were a gacha game" than Touhou LostWord, which at this point, barely has anything to do with Touhou, if we're being honest. There are more of these "alternate universe" characters (read: OCs that are only loosely inspired by Touhou characters) than there are actual Touhou characters in LostWord.

All this to say that "I'll probably be posting about Reverse 1999" on this blog.

It's been a while since the last metal-poll here on @music-addiction-disorder , for those interested... the last one was about "Metal Duets", 26 people voted and Lita Ford & Ozzy Osbourne won with 34,6 %. I've been tagged several times this week in different Slayer videos, that got me thinking it was about time for another poll. So, to all you Slayer fans out there i ask... "What's your favorite of these 10 Slayer albums"?

My all time favorite is "Show No Mercy", because style-wise it's one of a kind in their catalog and it still speaks to me even to this day.

Slayer was formed in 1981 by Los Angeles schoolmates and guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King. Tom Araya soon joined on bass and vocals, and drummer Dave Lombardo joined last in 1982. They played in a style reminiscent of early Exodus, influenced heavily by Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, before their attendance at a mid-1982 Metallica concert convinced them to play faster and heavier.

The group's name is an acronym for "Satan Laughs As you Eternally Rot" as shown in the first press vinyl's runout of their debut album (also written in the back sleeve of Divine Intervention) and part of this referred in the lyrics of "live undead" song: "Laughing as you eternally rot, searching for human flesh and life's blood, Live Undead, Dead" from the album South Of Heaven.

In January 2018 the band announced the end of Slayer after a final tour which ended in November 2019.

The DMMd Stage Plays

No one asked, but I can’t shut up about them, so I thought I’d talk a bit about these.

There’s a tradition, it seems like, of making stage plays about just about every subject imaginable in Japan. Search any anime you’re into on youtube and add “stage play”, and you will find everything. There are stage plays for Haikyuu!, Demon Slayer, SK8 the Infinity, Sailor Moon, Persona 5, Sarazanmai, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Given, Ace Attorney... that’s just off the top of my head. The productions are always creative and interestingly staged. If you’re into theater at all, I do recommend investigating.

It was a bit of a surprise, no doubt, that a stage play for DMMd ran in 2019, given that the game came out seven years prior; still, it did well enough to warrant another run, so we can’t argue with that. The production ran over a two-week period (stage plays don’t seem to be long-running; following any of the actors on social media, you’ll see they do several plays a year), and what’s particularly fascinating is that they did all of the love interest routes in that time period on alternate days.

The cast is rounded out by four dancers who added to the background in a variety of ways; Hayato Moriya also played multiple roles as a member of Bug Bomb, the person welcoming Aoba to Platinum Jail, and so on.

This was apparently not the highest-budget production out there, but they got around that with a stage resembling a generic Rhyme field onto which could be projected a variety of images, using that and lighting to make its appearance change significantly to the plot.

Unfortunately, due to (I believe) contractual issues, DVDs were not released for this production. They were livestreamed, and the final route was pro-filmed and can be rented on JP Hulu and U-Next, but that’s all we got. Sadface. However, there was a special after-show “curtain call” segment where the audience was allowed to film on their phones, resulting in a wave of clips that can be viewed here. In a couple of cases, Goatbed also performed “AI Catch” for this segment.

There was a wave of merch released for the plays, including bromides (postcard-size, collectible pictures, many of which can be found on secondary markets), a pamphlet, can badges and such. One presumes we will have another round of these with the new production.

Now the new production is coming up at the end of April 2023, and in addition to being “evolved” from the last one, a Virus/Trip route has been added. It’ll be interesting to see how this goes down, since before, it was only hinted at during the final route.

Recently and devastatingly, it was announced that Seiichiro would not be able to perform as Aoba again. While he was part of the initial lineup for this new cast, the official twitter stated that due to illness, he was being forced to step down and the role was recast with understudy Tsuchiya Naotake. I sincerely hope that Seiichiro is getting better and wish him all the best. Hopefully this is something he’ll be able to bounce back from. What’s particularly shattering is that Seiichiro has been working with Shogo on the recent run of Touken Ranbu in whatever incarnation it’s on now, so to have them not be reunited again absolutely sucks.

In other casting news, both the roles of Trip and Akushima were recast. Trip is now being played by Isono Dai, and Akushima by Makita Tetsuya. Presumably the dancers are all new as well; at the very least, I don’t recognize any of their faces, though as all the cast photos have everyone masked for safety, that makes it more of a challenge. The play is being directed by the same person as before, however.

As to whether DVD/BRs will be released this time, we can only hope that the legal issues have been worked out and we’ll get actual releases. If not, I’m sure there will at least be livestreams, though I haven’t seen anything announced yet. We will no doubt need a VPN for them at minimum; beyond that, we’ll have to wait and see.

My Review of My Happy Marriage

How did I get into this anime? So, I noticed this anime’s promotional poster and wondered to myself if this was going to be like Taisho Maiden Fairy Tale. That is the weirdest reason for watching an anime I’ve ever given and I sometimes pick animes just because of who sings the opening theme. Actually, I wasn’t that far off with my idiotic question.

Miyo Saimori is someone who was brought up under some unfortunate circumstances. Miyo’s mother died when she was really young. Her father ends up remarrying another woman and having another child with that woman soon after. Miyo was kinda shoved into the background and become subservient to the family as she was seen as useless. Apparently, everyone in the family has supernatural abilities except for Miyo. That’s why they see her as someone with no merit and useless. Her step-mother and half-sister are cruel to her. Her father says nothing. All Miyo does is lower her head and obey them.

Oh my God, what kind of Cinderella, Princess Sara, Taisho Maiden Fairy Tale shit did I pick up here? This first episode is just cruel. Treating Miyo like a slave is one thing, but erasing every happy thing from her life including what her dead mother left her is just sick.

There is one person who has been kind to Miyo for all of these years and that’s a family friend, Kouji. He’s the only one to ever make her smile. Unfortunately, things change and not for the better. Miyo’s father announced that Kouji was to be betrothed to Miyo’s half-sister Kaya. This of course broke Miyo’s heart despite her expecting something like this was going to happen. Now, there was more to the announcement. Miyo was also to be married off. They’re sending her away to be married to the lord of the Kudou clan. And just to be bigger dicks than you would imagine, they’re sending Miyo to be married off to someone who has a reputation for being a jerk.

If this story takes place around the same time as Taisho Maiden Fairy Tale, could the story do us a big favor and just have this whole family die in the Great Kanto Earthquake? I know it’s a terrible thing to wish upon anyone, let alone a fictional family. I was just really annoyed by everyone in Miyo’s family that it made me say what I just said.

Despite the rumors about this young lord and all of the marriage proposals that have lapsed due to his attitude. This man, Kiyoka Kudou is actually kind-hearted. And Miyo just deserves the best. She deserves a nice life!

BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: Welcome to a very new experience here. As you all know, this is a Netflix exclusive anime. But unlike many animes they’ve licensed in the past, this one was put out on the same day as released in Japan with an English dub. That is almost unheard of on Netflix. Recently, Netflix has been releasing anime alongside the Japanese schedule like when Blue Period came out. Some had a small, couple-week delay like Komi-san. Others are released all at once like Aggretsuko and The Way of the Househusband. And then there are those animes that people wait an eternity to see, but Netflix finds a way to delay it by weeks or even months.

The U.S. waited 11 months for that Steven Stone vs. Ash Ketchum match. That’s a disgustingly long wait, Netflix. Not even 4Kids was that cruel! THIS DOES NOT HELP WITH PIRACY YOU PEOPLE KEEP SCREAMING ABOUT! I will never be over that one.

So, I’m watching the dub. I gotta give praise to the cast here. This is my first time hearing either Miranda Parkin or Damien Haas. I am impressed by their performance and wish them nothing but the best in the future. It wasn’t all newbies in the cast. I saw a few memorable names like Lizzie Freeman, Mela Lee, and even a few Pokemon voice actors like Erica Schroeder and Mike Pollock. This kind of stuff makes me giddy. Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.

JAPANESE CAST: *Miyo is played by Reina Ueda (known for Mallow on Pokemon SM, Kisa on Fruits Basket 2019, Kanao on Demon Slayer, Gray on Lord El-Melloi, Jiro on Tokyo Ghoul, and Elianna on Bibliophile Princess)

ENGLISH CAST: *Miyo is played by Miranda Parkin

DISLIKED CHARACTERS: I think you know what I’m about to do here.

Miyo’s entire family (minus birth mother) are horrible people. And if this series is set during the Great Kanto Earthquake, I hope they all die. I know I said that before and it’s a horrible thing to say, but I’m at that point where I’m saying ‘fuck it’. The step-mother and half-sister are that usual kind of awful that one would expect in a Cinderella type of story like this. But Miyo’s father, her actual biological, blood father had the audacity to say in the third episode that he doesn’t care about his own kid and whether she’s still alive or not after sending her to the Kudou home. Just because she can’t see spiritual beings like the rest of the family?! I think I hate you the most.

This hatred was just the beginning.

Give Taishou Maiden Fairy Tale some credit as I didn’t have to see Tamahiko’s rotten family in every episode. The first six episodes were full of horrible scenes featuring Miyo’s father, step-mother and step-sister being horrible creatures. Whether through nightmares Miyo continues to have or them plotting and scheming, they continue to exist. The pinnacle of their disgusting behavior came when Kaya got jealous of her sister being happy for once in her life. So, Kaya and her step-mother had Miyo kidnapped off the street, tied her up in a shed, and beat her until Miyo caves into their selfish demands.

By this point, I’m thinking if this is just overkill in the evil department. Like, if you two are looking for the worst characters in anime for the year of 2023, you’d win that category. Even the guy that stabbed Ai Hoshino is in no competition compared to these bitches. But I feel like their evility was much too much.

Thankfully, after episode 7 we don’t see much of these wretched people. Kiyoka torched everything in his way and pretty much destroyed Miyo’s father, step-mother, and sister Kaya’s livelihood. I even think Kaya’s engagement to Kouji was broken off as she’s sent away to fuck if I know. I’ll take any kind of karma that can be bestowed upon these cum-buckets.

SHIPPING: Arranged marriages. Perfect matches or doomed from the start? Let’s see how this works out.

In the first episode, I was worried that this poor girl is going to continue getting abused. By the second episode, I twinged with this after watching Kiyoka put up the defiance just eating the food Miyo made. But that soon disapated with some optimism when Kiyoka took Miyo out on the town and gave her a present that could be mistaken for a marriage proposal. And by the end of episode 4, I was cheering for this. Especially when Kiyoka went to Miyo’s parents and demanded them to apologize to Miyo.

Unfortunately, other forces are working for selfish reasons. Apparently, Miyo’s father had originally promised Miyo to another family. Despite not having any spiritual powers, she still carries her mother’s blood and she could potentially pass on something to her children in the future. And this other family is Kouji’s family. Kouji is of course still on Miyo’s side and was pissed that his father did nothing to aid in Miyo’s torment. Just for good measure, let’s add Miyo’s cunt sister Kaya to this mix. She’s willing to throw away her fiancé Kouji and steal Kiyoka just because she can’t stand her sister being happy.

As I mentioned before, we don’t see much of Kaya and the rest of the family after episode 7. Same goes for Kouji. You would think that’d be the end of the interruptions and this ship can set sail. You know as well as I do that isn’t in the cards. We’ve got Miyo’s meddling cousin Atara to deal with.

ENDING: Everybody wants Miyo! It’s clear that Kiyoka loves Miyo and just wants her to be happy. But then you’ve got these interlopers who want Miyo only because she has an almost extinct bloodline (Usuba) running through her veins. Pretty much the same reason Koji’s father wanted Miyo. Two of those people are Miyo’s grandfather and this guy named Arata that happens to be her blood cousin.

That’s nice. Where the fuck were these two bros when Miyo was getting abused by the Saimori family? Follow up question! Where the fuck were these two bros when Miyo was getting the Kunta Kente treatment just a couple of episodes prior?!

For people so worried about the fate of the Usuba bloodline, you didn’t seem too concerned about Miyo until this very moment when she might have a slim chance of having some special power. As it turns out, Miyo just might. The following problems to this are; it’s ravaging her in her sleep, and her full power might have been sealed off by Miyo’s deceased mother. For this very reason, these two family members insist Miyo stay at their premises. Kiyoka was not going to give up his fiancé to these people whom he still has severe distrust over and ends up in a duel with this Arata dude. This was essentially, bringing a sword to a gunfight. Unless your name is Himura Kenshin, you are probably not going to win in a gunfight with a sword. I know Kiyoka is pretty tough, but…no. Knife to gun fight!

There’s a lot on Kiyoka’s plate at the moment. There have been going-ons with a supernatural called “the grotesques” and one wrong move could result in many lives lost. But this whole thing with his fiancé is something that has him worried all over the place. I guess Kiyoka’s demeanor changed quite a bit since we first saw him in his debut. During the big battle against the grotesques, he wound up seriously injured.

Meanwhile, Miyo learned from her grandfather about the Usuba family and her mother Sumi. Turns out that when Sumi was younger, she decided to help the dwindling Usuba family with their family troubles by marrying one of the families willing to give financial support. That just happened to be the Saimori family. The father was not happy by that decision and it unfortunately caused a rift between the two. Soon after marriage, Sumi gave birth to Miyo and realized her potential already. Sumi (who already had a weak constitution to begin with) managed to seal Miyo’s supernatural powers to prevent her father and the other Saimoris to abuse it. And then she died! Okay, I’m easing up on hating on the grandfather. Miyo’s cousin is still on the sus-watch as he continuously kept Miyo away from Kiyoka. Even when Kiyoka is injured, Atara tried to keep them apart. Thankfully, Grandpa realized that if he did this, he would lose Miyo the same way he lost Sumi. Miyo was able to be by her beloved’s side.

Kiyoka was in a deep coma due to a horrific injury. After a few weeks with the Usuba family, Miyo was able to regain what was sealed away from her after so long. Miyo has a special ability to go into dreams. She went inside Kiyoka’s dreams. After battling around with her inner insecurities, she managed to protect her fiancé and he was able to recover. This power was also able to vanquish the grotesques that invaded too. No one can tear apart these two. Not the Saimoris. Not the evil governor that wanted all the power for himself. Not Atara. No one! And we end with a happy ending where Miyo goes to a fancy party and puts her new education from her sister-in-law to good use.

Yes, love me some happy endings. Miyo deserves it! And best of all, we’re getting a season two to this. Guys, end it here. I know I can’t resist seeing what happens next. But after everything Miyo has been through, I can’t stand the fact that more tragedy could befall her. I also don’t want to see the Saimori’s again. I don’t care if karma came in like a firestorm to these people, I never want to see them again.

I’ll be honest, I was unaware about this story being about people who have supernatural abilities until episode 1 or 2. When I learned that, I thought that was just sloppily tacked on. That was until all this grotesquery nonsense and Kiyoka’s work came into play. I dropped my thoughts on the matter then. Despite every horrible thing happening to Miyo is playing right on my screen, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see if this girl ever gets her “happy marriage” like what it says in the title. And at least if there’s a season two, we might see the actual wedding. I mean, they aren’t married yet.

But aside from that, if you want to watch a supernatural/romance anime, you might want to consider watching this anime. Just be warned that the first half of the anime could aggravate you with how they treat one of the characters.

1.) How many works do you have on ao3?

108! I went over the 100 works mark during kinktober, but I was in such a fuge at that point that I didn't even realize. Woops! Anyways, that is over the course of twelve years, with some blank spots from 2019 to 2022.

2.) What's your ao3 word count?

1,308,673. That's.... that's a lot of words lol.

3.) What fandoms do you write for?

Currently Star Wars, but I used to write for Mass Effect and A Song of Ice and Fire. I also wrote Resident Evil and FFVII but we won't talk about that.

4.) What are your top five fics by kudos?

Downtown Eastside - By far my most popular fic of any fandom I've written for on AO3. Still can't believe how much traction this fic got, but endlessly pleased and grateful for it.

Cactus Flowers - An A Song of Ice and Fire Cowboy AU haha. I don't even remember writing this, but it still seems to engage readers now and again!

Three Aspects to Loras Tyrell - Another ASOIAF fic. It was just pure smut lol

Soldier's Heart - Another Mass Effect fanfic, exploring my Shepard's struggles upon his survival at the end of ME3. It was a series of therapy sessions between my Shepard and an OC I had created specifically for the story. Lots of themes explored like survivor's guilt and combat PTSD. Still really proud of this one.

Gold in the Air of Summer - And again, an ASOIAF fic from way back in the day. Modern AU, exploring Renly and Loras' relationship during university.

5.) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! Or, I try to! I think some get lost in the shuffle because I typically wait a few weeks before I respond. I like to collect a tidy sum and then go through and reply all afternoon 😊

6.) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably one of the FFVII fics we won't be discussing, but I wrote it in response to losing my Canadian grandparents. They passed away one after the other over the course of a few weeks, so I started writing fanfic as a way to cope with the loss and sort through my feelings. But the ending has a major character death so. Not the happiest.

But also, Sacred to the Gods, which was my first Star Wars fanfic I wrote. Has a canon ending with Obi-Wan debating if it'd have been better for him to have killed Anakin and then himself before any of the agony could have happened. Big yikes lol

7.) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

A lot of them! Right now I'm thinking about the ending to my obikin fic Ain't No Mountain! Can't get much happier than an obikin proposal~

8.) Do you get hate on fics?

Back when I posted on FFnet I did, but that was back in 2007-2011 when the fandom culture had a lot less unspoken rules and niceties. Whenever people say they wish fandom could be like it was in the ~old days, I'm like 'were you guys not on any major website?' Because the hate could get pretty extreme then, too.

9.) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Yeah, a lot of it 😂 I write whatever sort of smut floats my boat, but I think I'm best known for writing emotional and plot-heavy smut? Like, I want the sex to say something, even if it's just a quick one-shot. Whether it's a character introspection, or looks into the dynamic between the two, or says something about the society they're in or the circumstances surrounding them.

I also like to get a little poetic even if it's just about Obi-Wan licking Anakin's asshole~

10.) Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I guess my current fic Of Good Men and Monsters is kiiiiind of a crossover, in that it's set in a Buffy-type universe, with Watchers and Slayers, etc. But it's not a proper crossover as there are no Buffy characters present, nor references to the universe beyond borrowing a few concepts.

11.) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yep! But again, back in FFnet days.

12.) Have you ever had a fic translated?

A few, yes! Some of my A Song of Ice and Fire fics were translated into Chinese 🥰

13.) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

I have not! But I soon will be... 👀

14.) What's your all time favorite ship?

Spuffy, but that doesn't count because I haven't written for it. I am tempted to say obikin only because I am currently obsessed with it, but the other ships I've written for will always hold a special place in my heart.

15.) What's a WIP you'd like to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Deine Toten Werden Leben. Another ASOIAF AU. But I don't doubt I'll never finish it - I know I never will. Sorry for those who liked it, but it is the one and only fic thus far I have abandoned.

16.) What are your writing strengths?

Evoking strong imagery, I think? Like, dragging the reader into the setting through descriptions of scents, sounds, textures, lighting, etc. I try and keep it to a minimum, though, as I don't want to bog the reader down.

I also think I'm pretty good at writing emotional scenes between characters

17.) What are your writing weaknesses?

Action scenes, for sure. Also, regarding what I am good at, I can also get bogged down in the details at times. Like we don't need multiple descriptions of how Obi-Wan's tummy doesn't feel good because he's anxious. One mention is good enough lol

18.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

My German grammar is not good enough lol

19.) First fandom you wrote for?

FFVII. I was a big Cloud/Zack fan back in 2006~

20.) Favorite fic you've ever written?

Persimmons and Sandalwood. An obikin fic that just came together without a lot of angst or editing afterwards. I'm still pleased with it and don't mind re-reading it. Close second and third is Moonlight Serenade and Soldier's Heart

Am I the only one who misses the Saturday morning animation cram session lineup?

Throughout the past few weeks, I have been dedicating myself to running marathons of the final season to the 2019 FRUITS BASKET series. Lately, I've been thinking why it's taking me longer to return to the regularly-scheduled programming for Saturday mornings. As it turns out, I had to wait until May 25 to do that.

This morning, I have a three-episode Slayers mini-marathon to let Saturday morning viewers get caught up just in case they missed out on the FUNimation Spotlight Show (Toon Time Theater's April Fools Stunt). This explains why I delayed ZOM 100 episode premieres and the FRUITS BASKET: The Final Season reruns. If you wanted more of these series, you will have to wait until June 1, following the premiere of the T3 Express after-school cartoon block.

About Flaming Liberation: This book started as an idea around 2019, and around 2020 as a Wattpad original by a middle schooler (me) who wanted to share his OC's to the world! Since then it has developed into a sort of passion project of mine, and has gotten a lot bigger!

Flaming Liberation is a fantasy story that explores themes of child abuse, oppression, war, as well as grief. Needless to say the story gets dark at points, but that doesn't set it aside from having humor and wholesome relationships. Starring a teenage girl named Shelingia who has grown up in confinement because of her supernatural abilities, and her young friend Leo who lost his parents to people who wanted to abduct him because of his powers. This is the story that explores the events of how Shelingia frees herself and Leo and gets revenge on those responsible for their and other people's suffering.

Red And Blue 1.

Week 1 - Concept Phase

Colours can be associated with many aspects of life, such as emotions, religion, objects, gender ...etc. Red and blue are opposite colours with strong emotional meanings. Red usually represents the anger, passion in the other hand Blue represents sadness and coldness. In certain cultures, the red was the colour of devil and blue symbolized the sky, heaven. The painting “Fallen Angel” by Alexander Cabanel shows the emotional transition from sadness to anger with religious theme. The emotion of Lucifer an exceptional representation of anger and sorrow which I would like to use as an inspiration in my character creation.

The duality of the topic led me to create an assassin priest. He is possessing otherworldly ancient dragon sorcery to punish people. He has huge faith in divine punishment, and in his job. Losing faith in humanity leading him to turn against them.

Similar characters are usually represented in stylization with triangulated shapes, such as Zed or Aphelios from League of Legends. The artwork of Ilya Gagarin is an interesting representation of a rogue. I like the cold colours and the details, folds on the clothes.

For the assignment I decided to create a bust due to the limitations of the time. Through this practice my aim is to learn how clothing folds and how it can be realistically represented inside Z-Brush. Further goals to expand my knowledge in a new 3D program and to understand how projection works in Z-Brush.
