Rei's Birthday Event: Spring date with Levi
Tumblr media
Characters: Post war!Levi x Survey Corps fem!reader
Genre: SNK!canonverse
Warnings: SFW, fluff. Reader insert (y/n). SNK final season spoilers!!!! Some references to the canon events of snk (slight mentions of depressive episodes, mentions of death etc).
Word count: 3.6k
A/N: Thank you very much to my dear anon Victoria for the request!! I actually have two very similar spring time date requests, as such I decided to tweak this up a little. There will be mentions and references to canon events, but nothing angsty at all!!
I'm sorry this took so long to complete, and I'm still going through a bad writer's block lol but thank you to everyone for being so patient! I hope you all like this <3
Read the original request here.
Tumblr media
"Levi Heichou!" You called out, excited to see your lover appear before you.
"Tch, I told you so many times before to drop the shitty title, we're no longer in the Corps anymore," Levi rolled his eye—his good one—as he approached you. His hair was neatly combed back, his fedora in his lap. Levi was wearing a simple white button shirt with black long pants. His hair had grown longer; his fringe now growing past his eye. You missed how he used to keep his hair short, but you loved how nice Levi looked with longer hair too.
You looked hard at Levi, studying every line and wrinkle you see, and the barely visible strands of grey on his ebony hair. Years of fighting on the front line had taken a toll on his body more than you liked, even though he claimed it didn't really affect him much since he had the Ackerman bloodline.
Although the war ended, you knew Levi still wasn't at peace. You could tell he was restless, he didn't like being cooped up at home. His eyes didn't seem to have life in them like they used to, and he just seemed so sluggish all the time. You knew Levi wasn't sleeping well too; sometimes the ache in his knee woke him up, and sometimes, it was the demons Levi were fighting in his head. Levi didn't say it, but you knew he missed the old life, the one where he spent half his life fighting for a cause he believed in, and now that he fulfilled his mission, his life felt aimless; he didn't know what to do, and what to continue living for.
It took you a long while to convince Levi to even agree to step out of the house and go on this picnic date, and deep down, you knew you had to make every minute out with him worthwhile.
"What are you staring at?" Levi's voice brought you back to the present, "thinking of something?"
"Nah, I'm just thinking of asking Mikasa to send me some of those pearl eye cream from Hizuru. You know, the one Lady Kiyomi sent her for her birthday?" you answered, bringing a pair of shoes and putting them on for Levi, "I heard they're good for reducing wrinkles, especially around the eyes."
Levi's eye narrowed. "Oi. Are you saying—"
"Did Big Sister y/n just call Uncle Levi old?!" A high pitched voice came from the kitchen, and you felt an impact around your midsection. A few moments later, a head of blonde hair appeared by your side too. "Big Sister y/n just said Uncle Levi has wri—"
"Gabi! Shush—" Falco covered Gabi's mouth while she tried to wiggle herself free. You giggled and glanced at Levi who was eyeing the three of you, and quickly tried to separate the younger ones.
"Oi. You brats. Ganging up on me now?" Levi crossed his arms, looking utterly displeased. Falco continued covering Gabi's mouth while she tried to stomp on his foot.
"Of course not, Levi, we wouldn't dare to offend our elders do we, kids?" You joked, earning another stare from Levi. Before he could say anything, you quickly ran into the kitchen with Gabi and Falco.
"Big Sister y/n!!! Did you see Uncle Levi's face when you talked about wrinkles?" Gabi laughed while Falco appeared with a picnic basket in tow.
"Shut up, Gabi! Uncle Levi and Big Sister are late for their date already, stop disturbing them!" Falco sighed and tried to pull Gabi away, "here, Big Sister, I hope you and Uncle Levi have lots of fun today!"
You nodded and waved the kids goodbye and went outside, looking again at Levi who still had his arms across his chest. Onyankopon was right behind Levi, giving you a smile.
"Come on brat, let's go." Levi rolled his eye again as you passed the picnic basket to Onyankopon. Pushing Levi's wheelchair, Onyankopon told you to wait by the pavement as he went to drive the car over.
"... do I really have wrinkles?" Levi muttered once Onyankopon left. You snorted and tried to hide it with a small cough.
"Hmm… well… I mean, uh… your crow's feet do seem to be… uh—"
"Fine. Enough." Onyankopon arrived and Levi dismissed you, clearly knowing the answer in his heart. You giggled as he came out to help Levi up into the car while you kept his wheelchair in the boot.
"The weather today is lovely," Onyankopon smiled as he began driving, "it's a good day to be out in the sun."
"And yet, she still does not want to tell me what we're doing today."
"You'll find out later." You chuckled again holding Levi's hand, watching the scenery outside pass by. You sought help from Onyankopon and the kids weeks ago to look for nice picnic spots in Marley. With the spring breeze flowing and the flowers blooming, you thought it would be a perfect opportunity to spend undisturbed time with Levi. You thought a change of scenery might do him some good too; to help him out of this depressive state. After another quarter, Onyankopon stopped the car near the park and went to take Levi's wheelchair out.
"I'll pick you two up at eight, is that okay, y/n?" You checked your watch and it was a little past four. You nodded your head and thanked Onyankopon before taking the picnic basket and another bag from the front seat. Placing the picnic basket on Levi's lap, you helped him put on his fedora and his eye patch before wheeling him ahead.
"So, are you going to tell me why we are here in this godforsaken place?" Levi questioned you again as you began pushing him on a stony path.
"I'm taking you out on a date, obviously." You teased him again as you suddenly pushed him faster, causing his fedora to nearly fly away. Levi tutted angrily and said you should never be allowed to push his wheelchair again.
A few moments later, you and Levi arrived at a shop offering bicycles for rent. You paid the shopkeeper some money and then he rode a quadricycle over. You took the picnic basket and bag from Levi's lap and placed it in the front seats of the quadricycle. Once more, Levi gave you a look of confusion.
"Well, up now, I rented this for the day," you gestured. Levi awkwardly looked away, subconsciously placing his hand on his bad knee and grimaced, knowing that you of all people should know how he wasn't like before. What were you thinking, making him cycle when you knew it was going to be hard for him?
"Come on, Levi, stop depending on that wheelchair. You have to prevent your knee from becoming worse, right?" You smiled encouragingly, offering your hand out. You had expected that Levi would be unhappy, but you likewise knew that you shouldn't treat him differently from before. Whether or not he was Levi Heichou of the Survey Corps, or now as Levi the war veteran, he was still Levi—the Levi you loved. Whether he had physical disabilities or not, Levi was still the man you want to spend the rest of eternity with. You didn't want to push him, you wanted Levi to get out of this self-pitying state himself. After a long while, Levi held your hand and pushed himself up from the wheelchair. Slowly but steadily, you guided Levi up on the seat of the quadricycle, placing his feet on the pedals.
"W-wait. What about the wheel—"
"Don't worry, sir, your item will be safely kept here." The shopkeeper kindly replied and Levi seemed to relax a little. It was hard trying to move around without the wheelchair, but maybe you were right. He should try to depend on it less. "We'll close at around 10pm, so please remember to come by before then." The both of you nodded and you took your seat on the left. Looking at Levi, you gave him another smile and asked if he was ready. You could see Levi massaging his knee again. Levi took a deep breath and sighed, telling you to start pedalling.
It was hard at first, but Levi gradually got used to the momentum again. The both of you kept your pace slow, taking your time to enjoy the scenery passing by, the sound of birds chirping, and the gentle rustling of leaves. The sun was obscured by the clouds and there wasn't much of a crowd as well. You saw Levi's face relax gradually, the crease on his forehead slowly disappearing. Levi seemed to be more at ease with paddling on the quadricycle as well. You smiled to yourself. Bringing Levi out was indeed doing him well.
"Are you doing okay?" You checked in with your lover, making sure he wasn't overexerting himself. After he gave you a nod, you pointed to a large shady tree about 200 metres away, telling Levi that it was the next stop. Reaching the tree, you told Levi to remain seated first.
"Are you up for a walk?"
"... Hah?"
"A walk, Levi. Let's go for a walk."
"N-no, I don't think I can—"
"We'll walk slowly. Forget about the walking stick. You don't need it, I'm here."
Levi looked hard at you, face remaining emotionless. The frown on Levi's face became more and more evident as the seconds passed. You continued to stare right into Levi's eye, your resolve unwavering. A few seconds later, Levi broke eye contact and sighed again before reaching out his hand towards your direction.
"You better not make me regret this," Levi muttered under his breath, "you're forcing a crippled man to walk when you jolly well know he can't." You rolled your eyes.
"First off, Levi"—you took his hand and slowly guided him down the quadricycle—"you're not crippled. Secondly, you walk fine. Thirdly, think of this as rehabilitation, hmm? And lastly, stop complaining like an old man." You stood on Levi's right side and interlocked your arm with his, making sure he wasn't putting too much pressure on his knee.
"Where are we going?"
"Not far. We're just going to that small pond over there," you pointed towards a pond just in front, "let's go and feed some ducks." Levi scoffed hearing you.
"As long as they keep their feathers and shit to themselves."
The walk to the small pond was slow but pleasant. The heat from the sun was warm against your skin, the scent of the earth was refreshing. Levi held on to his fedora as the wind blew gently, and the sound of the grass and gravel crunching underneath your feet was playing like a contrasting melody. Once you two reached the pond, you opened your sling bag and took out a slice of white bread. Levi raised his eyebrow slightly.
"These are stale bread from a week ago." You chuckled before tearing it into half, passing one to Levi. You further tore your half into more tiny pieces before throwing them little by little into the pond. Some of the ducks in the pond started waddling over. Several tortoises also popped their heads above the water. There were also fishes fighting amongst themselves for the last few pieces. Levi looked at you before tearing the bread in his hand, scattering them all across the pond. The fishes and ducks dispersed and finished all those pieces of bread within the next minute.
"Do you have more bread on you?" Levi asked as he finished scattering the last few pieces of bread in his hand. You laughed and took out a few more slices.
"Maybe we can go to the pier next time," you commented once those hungry birds finished all the bread in your bag, "we should try feeding the seagulls." Levi scoffed again and let you hold on to his elbow.
"Tch. And have them shit on our heads? No."
The both of you began walking back to the quadricycle. Reaching into another bag, you took out a small paper kite. Levi raised his eyebrow again.
"Do you like it? I had Gabi and Falco do it together with me." You smiled and flipped the kite over, letting Levi see the doodles they did. Levi smirked when he realised who the five blobs of colour drawn on the kite were. You held onto the string and passed Levi the kite, telling him to lift the kite above his head while you moved back.
"OKAY, LEVI, THROW THE KITE HIGH AFTER I COUNT TO THREE!" You shouted and Levi gave you the thumbs up. After counting to three, Levi threw the kite high and you jogged backwards, pulling the string up to get the kite into the sky. Releasing the string bit by bit, Levi slowly made his way to your side as the kite now started flying a short distance away. You gave Levi a smile and tied the string around the tree trunk before going to the quadricycle, taking out the picnic basket and setting the mat.
"Now… let's see what the kids made for our picnic." You rubbed your palms together excitedly and opened the basket. You took out a container of hot stew, some freshly baked sourdough bread, cheese, mushroom quiche, and a small container of fruits too. You arranged the food on the mat and took out the bowls, cutlery, and a few serviettes. Pouring some stew into the small bowl, you passed it to Levi's left before giving him the spoon.
"It seems pretty decent," Levi uttered as he took a spoonful of stew and eyed you, "are you sure they did it all on their own?" You ate some stew and nodded.
"Well, Onyankopon did give them pointers, and I was the one who gave them the recipes, but yeah. The kids made it all by themselves. Not bad, huh? Maybe we should let them open a small food stall along the streets." you took another few mouthfuls of stew, "it's time for them to contribute to the household finances." Levi tutted angrily instead.
"They're too young to be doing shit like that, you brat. Don't be ridiculous."
You giggled, cutting some mushroom quiche for Levi. "I'm joking. Of course I wouldn't let Falco and Gabi do something like that. " The crease on Levi's forehead disappeared again as he ate, passing you his bowl for more stew. Levi and you took your time savouring the good food prepared by the two kids. It was pretty decent, and indeed you were secretly thinking of letting them open a small food business once they are of age.
Once all the food was finished, you told Levi to pack everything fast. Bewildered, Levi didn't say anything, yet he wondered what you were up to again. You got Levi up onto the quadricycle again and told him that there was one place you wanted to bring him. Stopping the quadricycle, you helped Levi down and laced your arm around his again, walking him to some benches ahead. The park was located right next to the sea, and it was pretty empty, just the way you hoped.
"Come on," you muttered as you helped him down, walking towards the bench, "we're just in time."
"For what?"
"You'll see."
Taking your seats on the bench, you checked your watch before glancing ahead again, looking at the dispersing clouds. Before long, the sun started to set, painting the sky a beautiful hue of red, orange, and yellow. You could feel Levi let out a breath he didn't know he was holding, and you grabbed his hand, feeling your fingers interlock. The both of you continued to stare silently at the magnificent view ahead, watching the sun descend lower and lower, listening to the waves crashing on the shore, feeling the wind blowing against your skin. You could feel Levi's calloused fingers caressing your knuckles, and the familiarity tickled something in your memory.
"Brings back memories, huh, Heichou," you peeked at Levi, seeing him trying to hide a small smile as well, "we used to do this all the time." Levi hummed in agreement, keeping his eye on the sunset instead.
"I still think the view from the top of the walls were nicer though"—you let go of Levi's hand and stretched your hands—"it was higher, more windy, less obstruction, and more—"
"And more dangerous," Levi frowned as he interjected. You laughed once more, closing your eyes to feel the wind in your hair again. You thought back to the reason why you decided to bring Levi out today, and even though you knew it might make him unhappy, you also knew you had to talk to him about it. Minutes later, the sun had already gone below the horizon, and the sky was gradually getting darker as well. Soon, the lamps nearby slowly started lighting up.
"Say, Levi," you broke the silence once more and Levi hummed in acknowledgement again, "do you… miss the old days?"
"... why'd you ask?"
"I miss those days too, you know. I miss all our friends and comrades too. Every single one of them. Every day."
Levi didn't say a word. You guessed he was probably upset. Yet, you took a deep breath and decided to just tell him the words on your mind.
"I know it's not easy for you to, I don't know, adapt to a normal life again seeing how you've been in the Corps for nearly half your life. B-but, I just don't want to see you wallowing in self-pity, okay? It hurts me to see you like this.
"I don't care whether or not you have missing eyes and fingers, I don't care if you have to be in a wheelchair forever. I'll gladly feed your meals and bathe you, I'll wear your shoes for you and I'll push you wherever you want to go. We'll hunt around Marley to look for beautiful spots to watch the sunset and the stars. I love you for who you are, and that will never change. Falco and Gabi love their Uncle Levi too. So, j-just, don't give up, okay?"
"Who said anything about giving up?" Levi turned to you, a look of annoyance appeared on his face.
"W-well, I don't know, you're always looking so listless, and you're not eating and sleeping well. I haven't seen you smile in a long time. And once I saw you staring at the mirror looking like you're abo—"
"Hey, hey, stop it, okay? Stop worrying. I'm fine. Really." Levi held your hand and gave you a squeeze. "I'm fine. I'm dealing with it, okay? It's, it's j-just—I'm—"
"Shh. It's okay. I get it. I get you." you hushed him, gently holding him close. You didn't need to see Levi's face to know that he was probably going to tear up, a side of him that will never be seen by anyone else; anyone except you. "Everything will be alright, I promise you. I won't leave you. I'll be by your side."
The both of you remained in each other's embrace, letting your hug do the talking. Patting Levi's back rhythmically, you heard him let out a long sigh before pulling you even closer, tightening his grip around your waist as he buried his head in the crook of your shoulder. You didn't feel the need to ask Levi what he was thinking about, and likewise, Levi knew you wouldn't ask him about it. After a long while, Levi finally loosened his grip around you. The moon was hanging high in the sky and the wind was getting colder. The stars shone like little specks of glitter in the ink-coloured sky.
"Feeling better?"
"Y-yeah, better," Levi hastily wiped the remnants of tears from his cheek, "thank y-yo—
—you interrupted Levi mid-sentence with a soft kiss.
"I love you, Levi. Always remember that. Hmm? I mean it." you gave him another small smile before stroking his cheek, pressing another fleeting kiss on his chapped lips. Levi's larger hand cupped yours as he kissed you back, feeling like time around him stopped, and nothing else in the world mattered. The feeling of your lips on his, the coldness of your cheeks, the warmth from your body; they were real, and a reminder that he was still here, and he was still alive.
Levi broke the kiss first, struggling to find the right words to say while he looked at you. Chuckling, you gave him another smile and mouthed it's okay once more. Levi was never good with words and he was never a good talker, but it never bothered you anyway. Levi gave you an appreciative look while you looked at your watch.
"Come on, Levi. Let's get back to the bicycle shop."
Helping Levi on his feet, you guided him up the quadricycle and the both of you slowly cycled back to the shop. Thanking the shopkeeper for keeping Levi's wheelchair safe, you opened it and gestured to Levi to take his seat, yet Levi shook his head instead.
"Let's walk to the main entrance. There's still time, right?" Levi offered to hold the picnic basket and kite while another hand held your arm for support. You tried to hide your smile as you both walked, listening to the owls hooting in the far distance. Onyankopon's car was already waiting outside by the time you reached the entrance. Seeing Levi walking next to you, a wide smile broke across Onyankopon's face as well.
The journey back home was quiet, yet Levi felt like the weight had been finally lifted off his shoulders. You held on to Levi's hand as he laid on your shoulder, drifting somewhere between sleep and consciousness. Levi knew his road to recovery would not be an easy one. But with you by his side, it was like he found his wings of freedom once more. And for the first time in a long while, Levi went to sleep with a smile.

Disclaimer: This is my first time writing hurt/comfort so I understand if it sucks and there's no hurt or comfort at all LOL I prommie I'll do better for the rest of the requests 🥺

‘Anime Japan’ March 2023: Attack On Titan Stage Event
Tumblr media
Preamble
Every March in Tokyo, representatives of different anime studios and shops put up stalls at the Tokyo Big Site Exhibition Hall to advertise upcoming anime and related goods. ‘Anime Japan’ is also a locus for interviews with voice actors. This year, Kaji Yuki (Eren), Ishikawa Yui (Mikasa), and Inoue Marina (Armin) went to promote Part 3 of The Final Season.
I couldn’t pass up the chance to go. However, there is limited space at the Stage Events, and the success of an application is determined by lottery. I applied for five events and got rejected from four – but as fate would have it, I got the ticket for SNK! I was as excited as Armin at the ocean. I of course went in my Survey Corps cloak.
Two caveats: photographs were not permitted, so none are provided. Also, my Japanese isn’t perfect, but I’m confident I got the gist of what they were saying.
The Event
The three seiyuu expressed sadness at the series coming to an end, and at how this would be their last time at Anime Japan after ten years. They thanked the presenter for having been their ‘MC’ for all this time.
On the projector, a scene from the last episode relevant to each of their characters was played. First up was Armin and his love confession to Annie on the ship (no pun intended). Inoue expressed interest in the complex feelings between them, and is curious to see where it goes because, unlike the other two, she hasn’t read the ending yet.
Tumblr media
Next was Mikasa, who was given the redux of her “See you later, Eren” scene from the start of the series. Ishikawa was really excited for everyone to understand the meaning of those words, but managed to hold herself back from spoiling us.
Tumblr media
Finally we had Eren with his breakdown in front of Ramzi. Kaji referred to this scene as Eren expressing his honne. In Japanese culture it is often said that people have a public face, tatemae, and a private face, honne. This is very true of Eren. Kaji commented that, although Eren is acting like a scary titan, this scene shows us he is human at heart after all.
Tumblr media
Kaji found it very difficult to talk about the scene further without spoiling anything, but what he did say was very interesting. He expressed his inner conflict over Eren’s actions: acknowledging their awfulness, but understanding the desire to protect the people close to you. Having been with the character for such a long time now, he told us that, ultimately, he wants to be his ally. This was immediately followed up with a pained expression and the rider that “it’s complicated”.
I was really impressed by how deeply Kaji understands Eren. It’s exactly what you’d want from a lead actor, to have such a connection with their character. Interestingly, the word he used for ‘ally’, 味方 (mikata), is the same one Historia uses when she rescues Eren.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After this, the presenter mentioned perhaps the biggest event from the last episode: Hange’s death. Kaji reflected that, although it’s tragic, Hange must be happy to be with their senpai again.
Then came various announcements of events for the SNK anime’s 10th anniversary. You can find all these on the anime’s Twitter page. The merchandise collab with the Gudetama ‘Lazy Egg’ character drew a laugh from everyone.
Tumblr media
Another landmark was SNK Radio’s 100th episode. Kaji was fiercely proud of this. He gave a booming YOROSHIKU ONEGAISHIMASU and an inordinately deep bow when he asked us to tune in.
A video compiling key moments from across all four seasons was then played on the projector. Inoue was conflicted, wanting to go “Woah!” on the one hand, but also “Nooo” because it’s ending. Ishikawa agreed there was a certain painful feeling.
The actors will be giving their last interview for the series at K Arena, Yokohama in 2024. Like Inoue, Kaji said he can’t look forward to it because he doesn’t want everything to end – but that he is excited nevertheless. There was a cute moment when a baby started crying and Kaji joked around with a dad in the crowd.
For the finale, the audience were instructed to stand and give a Survey Corps salute on Kaji’s SHINZO WO SASAGEYO, which filled the hall without the aid of a microphone. Ishikawa smiled and waved in my general direction while she left, so I can die content.
The Red Stage, where this interview took place, had no room for ticketless bystanders, so I really was lucky to get in. At the Blue Stage, I was able to peek over the stanchions to watch the BokuYaba and Tokyo Revengers interviews. I didn’t take notes on these, but I can sum up what I remember if anyone’s interested.

Gaming Spotlight #11: Digimon Rumble Arena (2001)
Tumblr media
Hello this is Larsa here with another spotlight feature on a game you may have missed from the Playstation era. Stand up to the fight!
Before we get to our featured title let's review some history shall we? Super Smash Bros 64 came out in the year 1999 developed by HAL Laboratory, INC. This revolutionary game was inspired by the dream match concept of SNK Corporation's own popular "King of Fighters" series where a bunch of a existing characters are thrown together to duke it out. Many in the industry took notice as the success of the new Nintendo crossover fighting game which created many fans of a whole new genre, platform fighting games.
Tumblr media
"Digimon Rumble Arena" or "Digimon Tamers: Battle Evolution" as it is known as in Japan would become one of the first early platform fighting games following in the giant shadow of "Super Smash Bros 64" to stand out as a game worth playing. Right away a fighting game based on one of the most popular anime series of the late 90s and early 00s just seems like a perfect pairing. By the time this game was released Digimon had firmly became a massively popular series already having a theatrical movie release worldwide and currently airing its very popular third season titled "Digimon Tamers". Right away the opening would blow the minds of any young Digimon fans at the time because it was essentially a Digimon dream match title starring the Digimon and tamers of the first three seasons slugging it out for digital supremacy.
Tumblr media
Is Guilmon really stronger than Agumon? How about Gatomon versus Renamon? Or how about a mega level battle of Beelzemon versus Omnimon? These were and still are important questions worth asking for any Digimon fan. And these sorts of playground questions are why this game was created.
Tumblr media
The gameplay features two opposing Digimon battling it out on one of the several different stages in a 2D plane. These stages are typically filled with unique stage hazards and ring out zones with randomly spawning items in the form cards which have a myriad of effects on the battle. These cards mirror the "Digi-Modify" or "Card Slash!" mechanics from the Digimon Tamers series . The roster is filled with Digimon supported by their appropriate tamers from the show with the same familiar voices for each character featuring over 20 playable Digimon. Unlike "Super Smash Bros" this game features a more traditional health bar system and draining your opponent's life bar to zero means victory. Each Digimon has two special moves and a myriad of normal attack strings you would expect in a fighting game. Right away in a way one would expect from this beloved franchise, Rookie level Digimon are capable of transforming into a stronger even more capable form in the middle of battle through Digivolution. Digivolving improves your stats and gives you a completely new different move-set than before meaning you as a player are often switching dynamically between different gameplay experiences. There are few things that feel better than securing a comeback victory with your favorite mascot Digimon because of a well timed Digivolution. Oh and wiping the floor with your opponent using Wargreymon's mighty signature technique, Terra Force.
Tumblr media
The main modes of the game are arcade mode and versus modes. In the Arcade Mode you take your selected Digimon through an arcade style ladder of bouts plus a few mini-games along the way with the goal of unlocking more characters. That is until you reach the new big bad of the game at the top of the ladder. Reapermon (Also known originally as Gokumon or ゴクモン) is a very difficult opponent to overcome and even now he still manages to give me trouble. I and along with anybody else who has ever played this game know of the horrors of his most powerful technique "Burning Cyclone". He is a cheap old school style boss who will test your skill at the game as one would expect from an older fighting game eating your quarters though in this case you thankfully probably own the game and you have as long as necessary to defeat him. Thankfully if you are struggling you can use some in-game cheat codes to fast unlock some Mega level Digimon along with other goodies to help even the odds. As far as versus modes go you can battle a friend locally or even play the mini-games against them. I spent many sessions having tons of fun fighting friends in this game. For an early platform fighting game the controls and mechanics are quite responsive which makes for amusing competitive bouts.
Tumblr media
The graphics and soundtrack of the game of the game are very impressive for the platform. The Japanese version of the game features many arrangements of songs from the anime series. However the game does have one big problem: the framerate slowdown is a persistent problem throughout the experience with this game. Unfortunately they are the game's immediate faults but the game has so much excellent fanservice content and a surprisingly responsive solid fighting game underneath that it is easy to forgive the shortcoming. This game is still pretty awesome and loaded with nostalgia for me having grown up with Digimon. This title gets my recommendation for any fans of Digimon to experience especially the Japanese version of the soundtrack if you are ever in need of a quick nostalgia-fueled adrenaline rush.
A gem hidden among the stones, Digimon Rumble Arena is unquestionably stardust.

A small note,
So as SnK is now officially ending, I just have a few thoughts I’d like to share — and in many ways, this is a thank-you note. I feel like this is a place where I can do that and no one will pass judgment on me for feeling so attached to a story (and forgive me, as I’m feeling very sentimental). So thank you, if you decide to read what I’ve written below.
I was just 13 when I watched Attack on Titan for the first time, all the way back in 2013/2014. I remember my friend introducing me to it and I can still remember sitting on my bedroom floor while she showed me the first episode. Back then, it was such a different show. Or at least, we didn’t know that the story which was unfolding before us could only be told for the first time, once. There is no going back. Once you learn the truth of it, you can only return to realize that it was always this way, the signs were all there — you just didn’t know how to read them. What a way to tell a story. What a way to build a character, with that same approach.
It’s been 10 years and my love for SnK has only grown as I have. I was 13 then, I’m almost 23 now, and so much has changed. Within all that change, I’ve always been able to revisit these beloved characters as every new chapter or season released. Despite the horrors they’ve endured, I found comfort in their perseverance. I grew up with them, and so as a new graduate, in which I’m watching my childhood sunsetting before me, it makes it twice as hard to say goodbye to them now. Sure, the manga ended 2 and 1/2 years ago, but there is such a sense of finality now that the anime is coming to a close as well.
SnK is a masterpiece. In my opinion, it is one of the most brilliantly crafted stories I’ve ever read, and trust me — I’ve read a lot. As a writer, I look to stories, in any medium, as a foundation from which to build my own. I will look to SnK over and over again as a model for my own characters, my own arcs, and mostly as a way to answer the question: How do I tell the story I need to tell in a way that matters? Because at the end of the day, no matter how many flaws are littered within the pages of SnK, the story that’s being told matters. It matters to me, and I know it matters to so many of you, too.
In many ways, the characters from SnK are my heroes. Truly, I often find myself wondering if I am acting with empathy and compassion the way Levi does. If I am able to grow and lead the way Jean does. If I’m allowing myself to be me, shamelessly, the way Hange does. I think about my relationship with my brother, and I think about Connie and Sasha — two halves of a whole. I try to love wholly, and fervently like Mikasa. I try not to doubt my abilities, the way I know Armin does so often and shouldn’t. Am I acting before I understand something? Can I hold onto my hope, breathe life into it, the way he embodies it? And every once in a while, I hear Eren in my head — fight. I have so many dreams and I’ll never get them if I cannot fight for them. I won’t live them if I don’t try.
For what will I dedicate my heart?
It has been such a pleasure to experience this story from beginning to end, to watch how it’s evolved and how it’s been received. And it’s been so humbling and beautiful to be able to experience it with all of you. It’s been so much fun.
Here’s to many more years of loving this story, even when the dust on the shelf begins to settle.
“Maybe the reason I was born was so that the three of us could be racing there. I thought the same thing when I read books at home on a rainy day. When a squirrel ate some nuts I gave it. When we all walked around the market, too. I felt it. That these trivial moments… might actually be precious.” - Armin Arlert
“I was very happy to spend time with readers that I would never have been able to experience if I lived a normal life. Also, now that the series is over and I’m free, I want to walk around an unfashionable town with a cup of sake in my hand. I think that’s what freedom is all about.” - Hajime Isayama
See you later, Eren.

After days of intense renovation on your rooms, it was all set for a calming night with your roommate. But now, you find yourself spending it alone.
To avoid lingering on conflicting emotions of confusion, solitude, disappointment, and interest, you treated yourself to your favorite pizza while you watched Naruto Shippuden.
You recently started watching anime. When you were younger, you'd occasionally watch a few Yu-Gi-Oh or Dragon Ball episodes when nothing else was on.
However, it wasn't a regular occurrence. You've been interested in anime for the last two years. The fascination started when your university required you to travel to complete your degree.
Two of your friends were in a similar situation, living in the same country and not far apart, so you spent a lot of time together. Both were big anime fans, and they tried to convince you to join them in watching it. However, you never took them up on their offer.
The following year, you went on a trip to another country, and one of your friends came along. You ended up sharing a room, and she made you watch a few episodes with her.
You watched Jujutsu Kaisen as your first anime and have been watching it since. SNK was your second, and while waiting for the release of chapter two of part three of SNK season four, you chose to watch Naruto.
You were already at Naruto Shippuden.
Naruto himself fascinated you. Despite his hardships, including numerous losses and mistreatment from his community, Naruto remained true to himself. Rather than succumbing to feelings of isolation, anger, and a desire for revenge, he aimed to be a reliable figure for the villagers. He repeatedly offered to sacrifice himself for their sake. If you were in the same situation as him, you wouldn't have shared Naruto's perspective and would have left Konoha to join the Akatsuki.
The dissimilarity between a genuine hero and a wrongdoer is their strength of will. As time passed, tiredness took over as one occurrence followed another, and you were suddenly transported to the dream world by Morpheus.

An undesirable event occurred in a desolate city area with few residences.
A paranormal occurrence caused the ground to tremble and the stones, gravel, and sand to twitch before hovering in the air. The once faint wind grew more vigorous and more forceful. The rocks, small stones, and sand suspended in the air formed a round shape, generating a huge whirlwind.
A previously unseen, non-human being emerged from this opening. The emerged creature is 9'8 feet. Its dark gray skin had many burns, and some spots revealed long whip-like scars. Two large, uneven horns decorated his forehead while his bright red eyes examined it.
The demon had sharp teeth that could tear through flesh and a smile that sent shivers down the spine. His body was heavy and muscular, surpassing that of an ox, possibly weighing 660 to 880 pounds, no exaggeration.
He didn't appear to have much on him, only carrying a large sword on his back, and only the lower part of his body was covered.
It was a shapeshifter, a dangerous and vicious creature, not just due to its craving for blood, but also because of its ability to approach and attack its victims unexpectedly. His power lets him change his appearance as a human, animal, or plant.
He was also incredibly strong and smart.
The swirling vortex disappeared into the darkness when the creature landed on Earth. Examining the area, the beast saw holy waves just a few yards away. The blast collided with the sensors and penetrated the city's shield, destroying one of its security measures against evil.
Fuming, the creature lifted its arm and fired a blast of energy towards the divine power. Upon touching land, the monster let out a deep, unearthly roar that shook the ground and shattered the surrounding lamps.
The portal still worked. It produced other beings who looked like humans but were smaller than the shapeshifter. More and more disgusting creatures were coming to Earth. Suckers, Onyx, Spotters, Ompals, and others were among them.
These enemies are quickly recognizable.
Suckers are demons that steal their enemies' energy. They become lifeless, pale, and crumpled when they lose their energy.
Onyx is the name for ancient fallen angels. They are skilled fighters, well-versed in hand-to-hand combat. Despite their human-like appearance, they are easily identifiable by a cut on their left cheek, which signifies their loyalty to their master.
On the other hand, the Spotters do not have physical forms; they are specters made of black smoke. They're not very intimidating, but they excel at sniffing and have an incredible sense of smell that can detect the energy of the chosen one.
Ultimately, Ompals are carnivorous creatures. Their skin is as thick as that of a crocodile, and they have sharp teeth and hooked claws resembling those of a velociraptor. They also stand at a height of 6'5 feet. Their tough hide allows them to move swiftly and withstand heavy damage. They never give up in pursuit of their prey and often work together to achieve their goal. There may be potential in that.
"This world is whole of positivity and affection, but it sickens me. However, I can still draw on negative emotions like bitterness, terror, and hopelessness." The creature rallied its army and reiterated its objective. It was time to destroy the chosen one and create an era of disorder and domination for humanity. The age of hopelessness was on the cusp of starting.
"Now go, and only come back once you ascertain the whereabouts of the chosen one. It's long overdue to eliminate them permanently."
Tumblr media
The night was dark and stormy. The wind blew through the trees, and heavy rain fell. Lightning flashed, and thunder boomed.
Three spotters moved through the city streets, avoiding detection by camouflaging themselves from the humans venturing out in this weather and watching for patrolling guardians.
They searched in the darkness for their target.
The rain persisted while the spotters stayed committed to finishing their task. Since they didn't find anything worthwhile in the city center, they opted to explore outside.
They spotted some residences farther up in the hills and decided to take their chances there. After searching for a few hours, one whispered, "I found them. They're right over there."
The three spotters moved carefully to the balcony of your house, thrilled to finally find the chosen one. They could see straight into the living room through the bay window.
"This is it," the spotter who saw the objective stated. "They're inside."
"Great. Inform the master that our mission is complete. Meanwhile, we'll observe them while you return."
Following his companion's instructions, the spotter vanished to search for his master. The situation became severe, and the master could finally eliminate the chosen one, bringing forth the demonic era.
Tumblr media
Your slumber was interrupted by a loud noise. The sound of shattering glass broke the silence of the night and startled you.
Your heart was pounding very hard. At first, you thought the commotion was coming from the television. But as you nodded off, Netflix had stopped playing Naruto - episodes you had yet to catch up on - and the screen went black.
The TV didn't cause the crash.
Looking around, you finally noticed where the noise came from.
"Well, well, well. I didn't think the Chosen One would greet me so warmly."
The voice was so deep and ominous that it seemed to come from hell, even though you had never been there and never intended to go.
A feeling of dread came over you as you heard a sound. On your balcony stood a tall being with broad shoulders, over ten feet tall. The darkness made it difficult to see him, and the dark clouds, wind, and rain made the sky threatening.
The night made it difficult to see him, and the dark clouds, wind, and rain made the atmosphere threatening. Suddenly, lightning flashed. It was very bright and illuminated the whole city. And that helped you clearly see the person standing on your balcony.
Thunder followed and covered your shocked sound. It was not a human being but a monster from hell. Although you accidentally said it, your assumption was close to the truth.
You felt the danger, and you were paralyzed and helpless. Your heart raced, and your breathing accelerated. You sweated and felt a rush of heat as you felt nauseous and shaky.
"Is this really mankind's best hope?" The creature entered your apartment without being invited, and its deep, mocking laugh sent shivers down your spine.
Even though it was your first encounter with this thing, you felt you had heard his laugh before. But where and how? It couldn't be. You would have remembered crossing paths with it before. Besides, you weren't even aware that such creatures existed. No one else seems to have crossed paths with them, either.
In the 21st century, where everything is easily accessible online, you are unfamiliar with their existence.
Some people would deny its existence, and even if they would be spotted and captured on video some people would affirm it was edited or from a horror movie. Only a few fans of fiction and the occult would try to prove its authenticity, but they pretty much risked looking foolish.
You had a gut feeling that his arrival was a bad omen.
You jumped off the couch and quickly stepped back to increase the distance between you and the unwelcome guest. Afraid of being attacked unexpectedly, you hurried toward the kitchen without turning your back to them, fearful of being attacked.
Even though you might have accidentally backed yourself into a corner, at least there was a chance that you could find something to use for defense. It probably wouldn't work, but you refused to give up without a fight.
"You're a weak human who doesn't know how to use her powers."
From the living room, you could hear the monster growling, getting closer and closer as it chased after you, intending to destroy you.
"Beating you will be easy." Why had the monster mentioned "your power"? You were just a frail human with no superpowers. But what kind of power was he talking about?
It's not physical since you can barely lift a 20-kilogram suitcase a few millimeters off the ground.
Suddenly, Onyxes appeared from behind the huge, balanced monster.
"I'm going to take a bite out of you." He grins like an animal and orders his henchmen to capture you.
All the attackers rush at you. You quickly grab a frying pan. When you think it's over, you miraculously defeat your enemies, even though they keep falling on you.
You fought fiercely like a lioness, determined not to give up until you made them weak. You struck forcefully, hitting one enemy on the head with a frying pan and another on the temple.
Blow after blow, your enemies tried to take you down. But your stamina was not decisive because you had not cultivated it for a long time. Now, it's beginning to show. Your strikes weakened, and your skills deteriorated, risking your life.
You had to find a solution quickly, but it was impossible to think of a strategy in the kitchen without a moment's rest. You didn't have Shikamaru's quick thinking, you couldn't devise an ingenious plan immediately. So you had to do as Naruto and improvise, forging ahead, hoping it would work.
You miraculously dodged the oncoming obstacles and made it safely to your room. You locked the door and barricaded it with furniture to buy time and find a solution against your enemy.
The only way you found and could work was to jump out the window, even though you risked an injury. You thought it was better than being killed by a monster.
Unfortunately, nothing happened as you expected. Some onyx heads appeared through the window before the glass shattered into a million pieces. They invaded your room, and now you're trapped in your home, a place where you should be safest. How ironic.
You retreat to a corner of your room to put as much distance between you and them as possible. Soon, you find yourself at a dead end. There's a deafening crash as the furniture you'd placed against the door moves across the room and lands heavily on the floor. The door suddenly opens, and more enemies, including the giant demon, enter your room again uninvited.
"That's it. You're pissing me off," he growls, and you realize this is finally the end of you. Clenching your fists at your sides, trying to stay calm. Your heartbeat accelerates, and your muscles tighten.
This was no time to be afraid. Dying here was not an option. Though you did not understand the muscle-bound demon's comment about your power, you were determined to prove him wrong.
"It's no use trying to escape, tiny human. You're like a rat. You cannot escape your fate." Suddenly, you felt a surge of emotion. It wasn't anger, but rather frustration, surprise, and confusion.
Your blood boiling wasn't just a metaphor. Something inexplicable was happening inside of you. You felt a strange energy coursing through your veins, giving you the hope and courage to face the situation.
"What the ?" they said, expressing both panic and surprise. The shapeshifter's eyes were fixed on your clenched fists.
His display of weakness before you made you smile. You didn't understand what was happening, the only thing you were sure of, was that the table had finally turned.
You hadn't acted yet, but he was already panicking.
"That's it. Take her." The shapeshifter commands, and his minions quickly attack you.
Suddenly, a loud scream pierced the air, and a bright light filled the room. It was strange, for though you had no idea the exact time, the darkness outside indicated that it was late evening or early morning instead.
The sudden bright light was strange to you but familiar to the others in the room. They recognized it immediately. When you raised your hands and saw that it weakened your enemies, you made it your strength and used it defensively against them.
You didn't have time to fully comprehend the situation. You had to defeat the enemy first and then try to understand what had happened.
Many demons ran away when you raised your hands, while others were burned by flames and disappeared. The shapeshifter warned, "You will pay for this," before disappearing into the darkness.
The light from your hands gradually faded, returning everything to normal. Silence and calm reigned once more. It might have seemed like a horrible dream if you hadn't seen your smashed furniture and open bedroom door, with other items scattered only a few feet away.
The draft from the French window in the living room and the broken window in your room swirled ashes around, leaving a grayish stain on the floor. It reminded you of when the demons were vanquished in the Charmed series.
After the attackers were gone, your body crashed. Your adrenaline rush subsides, and fatigue sets in. But before you could lose consciousness, you'd hear another noise.
The front door had just been forced open, and more people entered your home. You just prayed that it wasn't another group of attackers because you didn't have the strength to fight again.
You collapse to the floor, exhausted. Just before you pass out, someone says, "I found her. This way."
Then, it was the blackout.

Do you think the levihan fandom will die out now that the anime is over???
Hi nonny! I don't think so. At least not wholly.
The western fandom's quieted down but the eastern fandom is still appears to be going strong! If there's one reason to join Twitter it's to follow artists that aren't anywhere else, and it's worth it to keep the love flowing.
There's been drops in activity, and I think the reason is a multi-faceted one. Yes the series ended, but for a show of SNK's caliber, that didn't used to matter. I've commented on this before–and at the risk of sounding like a boomer– I blame binge culture, and more specifically, Tiktok, for playing a big role in how quickly fandoms die.
Even 5, 6 years ago, it didn't matter if a show was over; people kept the party going. A piece of official art or a merch drop kept a fandom fed for months. Now you're lucky for the hype to last a week. FmaB ended in 2010 and it was still hopping three years later when I joined in 2013. It took another four years for it to start quieting down and hell it wouldn't surprise me if it was still going. But now there's been this shift in mentality, and attention spans are shorter and sure we all joke about it but it's a real issue and you see it happen at an accelerating rate. There's absolutely nothing wrong with your interests changing, but I see over and over (at least on the artist side) creators only making stuff for fandoms if it can be profitable to them, and the second it's not they move on to the next big thing as a way to ride the hype and beat the algorithm instead of loving the thing for what it is. And I get it, it's how many make a living so they gotta do what they gotta do. It just unfortunately perpetuates this cycle of fandoms being trends rather than communities.
I will say SNK and Levihan kinda got uniquely screwed though. Due to the last season's (understandable) release schedule and the way it was marketed a lot of people kinda unfairly tuned it out. Add on to that how Levi and Hange's scenes were handled and the fandom didn't get as big a boost as it should have.
But for me, it doesn't really matter how many people are still in the fandom. If Levihan is what I feel like drawing then that's what I'll do :3 Presonally, art is too hard and too time-consuming to spend making something I don't want to. At the end of the day, it only dies if we let it. Which would be a pity because there's still the blu-ray, Shigeki Fly, and Bad Boy to look forward to! 🥳

SNK Actors AU. New Years party to celebrate the the completion of the anime series. Including characters from the beginning of the series
thanks :)
resolutions
scouting legion. marley warriors. actors au. 2124 words. read on ao3.
“Who wants alcohol?” Pieck asks in a sing-song voice. She smiles as she approaches the group of child actors. In her hand are some plastic wine glasses. Behind her is Porco with a disapproving frown on his face. She’s offered them alcohol once before at the previous cast party, the one that they had thrown to celebrate the end of Attack on Titan, but this time the children are less enthusiastic about her invitation to drink illegally.
“No thanks,” Falco says with a sour face and Udo and Zofia nod in agreement. “It was so sour last time I could hardly finish my glass. Drinking is weird. I don’t know why adults do it.”
“Well, I’ll have some!” Gabi says, puffing out her chest proudly. “I can take it because I’m so mature.”
“You gagged the whole time you drank it last time,” Udo points out.
“Shut up! No, I didn’t,” Gabi hisses, looking up quickly to make sure Pieck hadn’t heard any of it. She clears her throat and smiles broadly up at Pieck. “Anyway, I would love a glass, Pieck.”
“Coming right up,” Pieck says with a wink.
Porco follows closely behind Pieck. He glances back at the kids who are laughing and teasing each other, happy to be reunited after a busy year of wrapping up such a large project and starting new ones, and then leans towards Pieck once they’re out of earshot. “Do you think she’s going to figure out that you’re just giving her prune juice?”
“Gabi? Nah,” Pieck laughs as she hands Porco the extra glasses so that she doesn’t have to bother with them. “Udo, on the other hand, is pretty clever. I think he has an inkling that I’m not actually giving them alcohol. He’s gearing up to be a little mini me.”
“God, I fucking hope not,” Porco mutters.
Nearby, the other actors that played the Marleyan Warriors are chatting with Ymir and Historia. Despite only Reiner having any decent screentime post season three, the five are quite close and talk easily with each other. Although the other four actors appeared either infrequently or not at all during the later seasons of the show, they made sure to meet with each other every few weeks to catch up.
“How did we get a big enough venue for this? It’s like everyone’s here,” Reiner says with a grin. He smiles at another passing cast member and raises a glass towards them in greeting. “Did we really invite everyone? There are people here that I haven’t seen since season one.”
"The more, the merrier,” Annie says although her tone and expressionless face doesn’t quite agree with the words she has just spoken. On her plate is a small pile of cookies, tarts, brownies, and whatever sweet treat she managed to snag from the dessert table. The actress’ sweet tooth was so amusing to the writers that they had written it into her character for the show.
“Are we supposed to mix and mingle?” Bertholdt asks nervously. He loosens the tie around his neck and puts on a shaky smile as he looks around the room. Even after being a part of one of the biggest shows on television and participating in comic con during all his active years as a cast member on Attack on Titan, Bertholdt is still wracked with nerves when put in a room with too many people. “Is it okay that we’re just talking amongst ourselves?”
Historia takes a sip of her champagne and waves her free hand at Bertholdt dismissively. “It’s fine. If they wanted to talk to us, they’d talk to us. People just find their natural groups after working with each other for so many years.”
“Historia’s right,” Ymir says with a grin. She has one arm slung around Historia’s shoulders. “You worry too much about other people, sweet Bertl. Just have a few more drinks. You look like you can use some.”
Bertholdt, never much of a drinker, begins to protest even as his friends goad him on.
Connie Springer is one of the only people not wearing formal attire for the end of the year wrap party. Instead, he’s thrown on jeans and a t-shirt with the words “I survived the Rumbling” emblazoned across his chest. He’s proudly showing off his shirt to the other members of the main cast that had been in the Scouting Legion who are watching him with amusement.
“I made one for everyone! Well, everyone who survived the Rumbling anyway. Sorry, Sasha. These are for heroes only,” Connie snickers as he begins to hand out matching t-shirts to his costars.
“Hey, no fair! I saved people, too! I had that whole arc in the village,” Sasha protests.
“Doesn’t count, you had to be alive during the final battle,” Connie replies and laughs when Sasha pouts in response.
“These look great. Did you print them yourself?” Jean asks. He’s slipped the shirt on over his outfit even though it looks ridiculous when paired with his midnight blue blazer and matching dress pants.
“I did indeed!” Connie says, puffing out his chest proudly. He watches Mikasa and Armin carefully. The two have accepted the shirts but haven’t put them on yet. “You guys don’t have to wear them right now, but promise me you’ll wear them.”
“Oh, I’ll wear it. Sometime. In the future,” Armin says with a frown. His tone is unconvincing but the tentative promise seems enough for Connie.
Mikasa nods at Eren who, like Sasha, is also emptyhanded. “Why doesn’t he get one?”
“Are you kidding? He’s the one who started the Rumbling in the first place! I’d never give him one,” Connie sniffs.
“Hey, you guys wouldn’t have even had the Rumbling without me. It’s because of me that you’re able to have those shirts printed in the first place,” Eren says with a charming smile. Even though the last episode had been filmed months ago, he still keeps his hair long although tonight he’s swept it up in a bun.
Eren’s comment is met with a chorus of boos and the leading man only laughs as Mikasa and Armin take a few swings at him with their new shirts.
“Oh, to be young,” Hanji says with a smile as they observe the younger cast members joke and bicker amongst each other. They lean over to nudge Moblit with their elbow, a lopsided grin on their face as they ask, “Their phones are probably still blowing up with movie and tv show offers.”
“As if yours aren’t,” Moblit says, and Hanji laughs in reply. Moblit is only speaking from his own experience, but he’s received offers ever since his character’s death during the middle of the show. He hadn’t even thought his character was all that popular, so he was surprised at the “Justice for Moblit” campaign and numerous fans who have recognized him on the streets. He’s had his fair share of movie and tv show offers, although typically for supporting roles. He expects Hanji’s offers are even more impressive.
“That’s true. Too many to choose from, although that’s kind of the opposite of a problem,” Hanji laughs. They gesture towards Pixis who’s chatting by the punch bowl with a few other actors who were part of the Garrison members. “Even Pixis is busy after the show’s ending. I heard he has a role lined up as a crazy king in a historical fantasy show.”
The premise seems familiar to Moblit. “Throne of Lies? I think my manager sent me a script a few weeks ago. The director was interested in casting me as a knight or something,” he frowns. “God, they’re going to kill me again, aren’t they?”
“It could be a good thing. My fanbase absolutely exploded when I died. I was more popular dead than alive. You should consider it,” Hanji says. They toss their head and look back to where Erwin is talking with Mike and Nanaba. They wave Erwin over, nearly knocking Moblit in the head with their arm in their excitement. “Hey, Erwin! You have any roles that you’re taking soon? Maybe there’s a project we’ll have together.”
“Mmm?” Erwin hums. He feigns oblivion but everyone knows he’s incredibly private about his life. Only his closest friends know about his private life and hardly anyone knows what projects he’s in until they begin airing. It’s no secret he’s in high demand after his role as Commander Erwin Smith, but what upcoming roles he’s accepted remain a mystery. “I’m sorry. I haven’t decided yet. I’m still going over the scripts.”
“You’re as tightlipped as ever,” Hanji grins. “Directors must love you. You never give anything away. I didn’t even know you were doing that spy thriller until it came out last year. Nobody heard so much as a whisper until the trailer was released.”
Erwin shrugs. “What can I say? I like my work to speak for itself,” he says before taking a sip of his drink.
A few tables away the other Scouting Legion members are conversing with Zeke much to Levi’s displeasure. They get along well with one of the series’ main antagonists even though all the members of Levi’s Squad had perished well before Zeke had appeared in the show. Even Farlan and Isabel, guest stars for a special episode, seem to be enjoying Zeke’s company. It’s difficult for Levi not to take this as a personal betrayal.
“So they really had you bare ass naked on the set?” Auruo asks with an expression almost akin to awe. It’s the sort of admiration he had previously only reserved for Levi.
“Multiple times, actually,” Eld says. He holds up fingers as he begins to list out all the times Zeke had appeared on Attack on Titan in the nude. “That time the goddess Ymir reconstructed his body, the finale, and then there were all the times he showed up shirtless. The fangirls went crazy.”
“Oh yeah, I remember all those trending hashtags because everyone got a good look at that,” Gunther says, nodding at Zeke who just laughs modestly. “Pretty sure some of those scenes were just fanservice. Even the writers knew how popular Zeke was among the audience.”
“Come on, they could have chosen other people in the cast to strip down,” Farlan says, and it’s only now that Levi feels he has an ally. Farlan gestures towards his own abdomen. “Nobody has any idea about the body I have and it’s only because the writers weren’t smart enough to write it in. That 3DMG training alone gave me abs for the next month and the poor audience doesn’t have a clue.”
“Jealous?” Isabel snickers and Farlan scowls in response.
Petra nudges Levi who notices that she’s not taking part in the conversation with the rest of their colleagues. She smiles up at him knowingly. “Do you have any interesting projects lined up, Captain?” she asks. Like many of her costars that had been part of what the fans affectionately call “Squad Levi,” she still keeps his title when referring to him.
Levi has been in demand since his first appearance midway through season one although he had declined any additional work, choosing instead to focus on Attack on Titan until its completion despite the long hiatuses in between seasons. He hadn’t really thought of doing anything afterward, at least not immediately. He prefers to keep a low profile and Attack on Titan has already propelled him to heights of fame that he had never intended of reaching.
“I’m not sure. This project was already a lot of work,” he admits. “I have a stack of projects my manager sent me that I still haven’t read.”
“Maybe something more lowkey? There are a few indie projects that have blown my way. I can contact a few people if you’re interested, although my projects fall mostly in line with romantic comedies and the like,” Petra warns with a laugh.
Romance of any kind would clash with his current image as a cold, calculating fighter, but Levi doesn’t actually mind. He could use a change of pace and reuniting with an old costar for an indie project could be an interesting challenge for the new year. “Sounds like it could be fun,” he says much to Petra’s surprise.
“You’re not afraid of tarnishing your image as Humanity’s Strongest?” she teases.
“Humanity’s Strongest New Year’s resolution is to take part in a good but unexpected production,” Levi replies with a shrug. He gestures to everyone else at the party. “I’m sure everyone here has similar goals for the new year.”
The two enjoy their drinks and company as the others around them exchange stories of their old days and hopes for the future.

Annon-Guy: Business Practice - In regards to DLC characters, why do you think the developers keep the fighters a secret until they're revealed instead of telling us straight away? Especially in Guilty Gear, BBTAG and The King of Fighters.
The only exceptions was Dragon Ball FighterZ (may Akira Rest in Peace) where Gogeta (SSB) and Broly (DBS) were revealed alongside Videl and Jiren despite being the last characters of Season 2 as well as Under Night In-Birth 2 where ALL three Season Pass characters were revealed to us (in spite of the ridiculous release dates).
There have been several instances where fans have tried to "hack the game" and leak the character files to people to try and GUESS which DLC characters are coming next.
But most developers are ON TO THAT TRICK by now... so there's plenty of SPOOFING and Red Herrings to be had...
We're long past the age of "secret codes" and "unlock requirements", but the need for secrecy isn't necessarily born to keep hype for the game active... sometimes it's just about keeping CORPORATE SECRETS.
Knowledge is Profit, as is sometimes said.
Sometimes it's just about trying to keep up with the competition.
ARC System Works still competes with Capcom and SNK, even if the developers are on a Handshake basis by now (to say nothing of the occasional meeting of the minds of fighting game development).
Still, Fighting Games are a Niche Genre of videogame, even if some are more popular than others... so in some respects the Fighting Game Developers are one big extended family, profits considered or otherwise.
All the more reason why the FGC should be more open minded and let other people enjoy games they don't necessarily enjoy as much or agree with.
