au where jedi healers take a vow not unlike jedi temple guards, but instead of wearing a mask and becoming anonymous, they give up their sight and wear blindfolds to allow the Force to guide their every action. it’s also supposed to blind them to their patients’ differences, which used to be symbolic but since the war between the jedi and the sith broke out, has become much less so
because jedi healers are supposed to heal regardless of if their patient is a jedi or a sith, when they’re deployed on battlefields after the fighting is over, they use the Force to heal every injured person they come upon.
anakin skywalker, who was chosen from the creche and agreed to follow the Healing path at the age of 9, thinks it’s sort of stupid that they have to wait until after the fighting is over to begin to help because he can feel people dying in the Force, he can feel their pain--
young general kenobi, who remembers his old creche-mate anakin skywalker and how blue his eyes once were, thinks it’s beyond foolhardy that this healer is stealing out across an active battlefield, blindfold over his eyes and bending down to heal karking darth maul and single-handedly diverting all of obi-wan’s attention away from the droids and sith legion because now he has to make sure he’s ok he can’t just leave him to the whims of the Force, he’s unprotected and he’s going to get himself killed----
it’s a headache and a half for everyone involved because general kenobi keeps abandoning his battle strategy and sometimes even position to ensure healer skywalker’s safety and healer skywalker keeps dropping everything and everyone the moment he feels obi-wan kenobi get hurt in the Force to rush to his side, Force Vow of Healing Equality be damned.
but......the Council keeps deploying them to the same battlefield because healer skywalker is never more effective as when he knows he must heal fifty mortal wounds before he can rid general kenobi of a headache, and general kenobi is never as ruthless as when skywalker is on the field close to him, in potential harm’s way
despite how much they insist they hate each other
#kit's silly lil aus#obikin#healer anakin au#writing this out i thought of like five thousand scenes i'd want for this#a scene where obi-wan is pissed at anakin because he keeps fucking fixing one of the sith#so he's not letting anakin heal him and refusing to see one of the clone medics#so they're in his tent and he's just holding a compress to his head wound and bitching at anakin who is bitching back at him#and obi-wan is like 'at least you don't heal DROIDS' very scathing#and anakin goes quiet and is like 'i used to want to be an engineer did you know that?'#and obi-wan is like 'force when we were kids i knew everything about you. crush the size of a senator's ego'#oh and another scene where a sith (lbr maul) attacks anakin and obi-wan gets in the way#and takes the blade for him and anakin kills him rather violently#because i dont like healer anakin aus that take the violence and teeth out of anakin skywalker#so he snaps and breaks his vows to kill maul and eliminate the threat so he can heal obi-wan#and probably the council had encouraged him to become a healer because they could see his capacity for violence and fear and hate#but they couldn't see his attachment to obi-wan#but then not even obi-wan could see that#and a scene after that where obi-wan wakes up in his tent and the first thing he sees is anakin's blue eyes#because anakin broke all his vows to protect and obi-wan and killed many many people to keep them away (in a very feral way)#so what's one more#and obi-wan's first thought is that he missed those eyes#everything else and their consequences can wait#oh also mostly in it for the blindfold sex before this#absolutely here for the blindfold sex#same age aus also my beloved

Shipping time! How about Grace x Wolffe? If you already have that one maybe Cody?
I'm gonna do both of theme becuase you know what...the thots be thotting.
The cody one gets a little...spicy at the end.
Grace x Wolffe
They are eyeroll buddies, the amount of judgment the both of them can capture in one face, and whole ass conversations with glance at each other. They're defiently comunicate via eyebrow. Grace cares, so much but doesn't tollerate stupid. And will tell people-usually in such a way they have no idea they've been inuslted what she thinks of them. Wolffe has no filter but has learned to let Grace talk to people on diplomatic missions when Plo isn't around.
One of Grace's best friends is Anakin Skywalker, and she loves him, but boy do they both hate C3PO. Grace is constantly making jokes about pushing him off/out of the ship. What she doesn't know if she makes to many, Wolffe is defiently taking her up on that offer. He usually snaps and tells him to shut up when even Grace starts getting twitchy. When Wolffe reaches for blasters, Grace gives the droid a task to get him out of Wolffe's hair.
Wolffe and Grace would have met- when Grace transfered one her medicas to his new batallion. She stayed to make sure the transition went smooth. They defiently didn't hit it off right way. Wolffe looks stand offish and rude and Grace has a bad habit of holding herself tightly wound with the "Perfect Jedi" appearnce. Plo told the rest of the pack to be patient and trust in the force. Eventually Grace sliped, and said something deepily sarcastic at one of their missions- and the person was being less than respectful to his clone rescuers- and got Wolffe to chuckle which made her chuckle. After that it became a way of them to communicate- sarcasitc comments back and forth then witty banttern.
When ever Wolffe gets to grouchy with her she just snorts and says "I was there when we had to hold your eyeball in your head, you're not chasing me away that easily." Plo likes putting them together because despite the biting words, he feels good about them in the force.
These two...there banter builds and builds untill it explodes. He took more risks than she thought was neicasrry as a medic and when he refused medical treatment she would hunt him down. She corners him one day, shouting about how hes not actually expendable, and dying would be a waste of life.
"Start taking care of yourself you one eyed Bastard."
"Make me witch."
And then she shoved him over and agressibly kissed him. She immiedly back uped and tried hinding among her "Jedi" Persona but he just growled and shoved her agaisnt the wall. *Spicy times*
After that, there banter took on a more sexual edge then a more romantic one.
Grace x Cody.
Grace and cody have a more slow bulid realtionship. She gets temporary assigment aboard the Negotator and immeditly the crew notes her tendiency to behabe like Kenobi...which is a relief for Cody. He was afraid the child hood best friend of Skywalker would be as crazy as him. She was professional, Jedi persona that took charge of medical treatments and oragnization and it was one less thing they needed to worry about. Till someone attacked ther convoy. And he got to see the more untamed feral side of the this nightsiter turned Jedi. She stood her ground against hte droids and refused to leave men behind, fighting off clankers with a mixture of magic and the force, snarling at anythign that moved. Then she dragged back all the wounded men and treated their energies with smiles and laughter like she hadn't flipped a feral switch on the battle field. Cody decided then and there he would follow this woman anywhere into battle. Kenobi just smiled and left his commander in capable hands.
Grace and Cody are subtle in their relationships. Slow building as it is. It started with late nights, after Grace tracks down Kenobi for medical check ups, sassing the man and rolling her eyes and running healing energies and med scanners where ever she happens to find him. She'd do paperwork with the three, or just him when Kenobi was busy. At first she sat in silence, then she started asking after his men- like Waxer and boil, or the Ghost crew and how it got its name. He started asking her about the meaning of her tatttos. Those late night dicussions lead to a deep understanding between the two as they drifted closer and closer. She brought him caf and smiled, and he made her tea from Kenobis stash. One day while doing paperwork, he got up to go refeal her tea and when he came back- and to this day he still didn't know why he did it- but as he set her cup down, he leaned down and pressed a kiss right on the arch of her lekku. She moaned uner the attention and they both froze. Slowly, so very slowly, Grace looked up at him and Cody swore he stopped breathing. She stood, maintaining eye contact as she went till they stood chst to chset, breathing each others air.
"Being a jedi means putting the galaxy before your own needs." She said, and he nodded, trying to not flinch but she reached out and cupped his check. "But that doesn't mean we cant...you will always be second to the glaxy...but...." "I would happily stand beside you against the entire galaxy.' He whispered and she sucked in a breath before noding. Carfully she leaned up and pressed a kiss agains the side of his mouth- so carefully then waited to see if he would return her feelings. He did so galdly.
One of Grace's favorate things to do is help cody relax, so she'll put his head in her lap, and run her fingers through his hair and sing for him. She explained she didn't sing for anyone, not anympre, not since her bother was sold. But she sings soft songs about love and hope and runs her hands thorugh his hair because hes worth singing again.
Cody paints one of her tattos- after leaning all of their meanings on the underside of his amror, the one for Bravery and Championship. It presses agains his heart the same way hers does and only he knows its there. Grace cried when she saw it, stroking hte paint and before kissing Cody with all the love she had to give.
Grace went to men and asked if anyone on board did tattoos, the clones were very excited to tattoo their tattoed jedi and the ones who did it stuided hers with great intrest. She got a sun burst on her hip-all the men weere giddy while they watched it happen, distracting Cody the whole day while she got it done. She showed it to him later, lifting hte part of her dress and black under suit to show him the fresh ink. He spent the rest of the night pressing kisses around the tatto and once it was healed, lavishing all the attention on it while she rode his fingers.

We’ve all seen deaging fics where Dooku somehow gets a hold of Obi-Wan as a tiny and the clones have to go save him, but what I want, is a fic where both Dooku and Obi-Wan revert back to what they were when Obi-Wan was barely 13, and the clones all think this tiny little Jedi baby is gonna run away from the scary bad sith, but are shook up when Obi-Wan, covered in bruises (poor baby was on Melida/Daan he’s half starved and has many ouchies) looks over at Dooku, who looks dazed and confused and as soon as the man looks at his lightsaber (it’s not even lit but Dooku can FEEL it) the man yelps and throws it away (which is the only reason the clones don’t try to kill the man, he’s unarmed and now they want to take him in alive) and Obi-Wan just makes a chirpy nervous sound and asks if master Dooku was sent to come bring him back to the temple?
Dooku takes a bit to reply, but when he crouches down and holds a hand out to Obi-Wan, Cody’s heart drops when the skinny little thing immediately goes to him, and Dooku just mutters that he has no idea where they are, but then??? He starts healing Obi-Wan’s ouchies??? (‘It’s okay, little one, let Grandmaster help you.’ ‘You don’t have to, Master Dooku, I’m not part of the order anymore. Master told me I could never be.’ ‘That fool wouldn’t know sense if it hit him, you are not expelled from the order for a little rebellion, and even if you had been, no proper procedures to expel you can be preformed by a master. He didn’t leave you with your stipend, you didn’t have official orders from the council to leave. At most, you’ll be reprimanded for not following orders.’ ‘…but I don’t have a master anymore?’)
All the clones hearts break, and they watch this man that had been their enemy, just curl Obi-Wan into his arms like he could protect him from the universe.
Of course, they still have to capture him, it’s needed, but they put him in locked quarters with access to Obi-Wan, who’s confused on why they wanted to separate them at first.
Dooku and Obi-Wan unfortunately don’t get reaged, which is really nerve wrecking at first and now Cody, Anakin and Dooku seem to be in a tense custody battle over the baby general, who’s shocked and a little clingy to these men who want him so badly??? But they’re able to look into Dooku’s mind and recover a memory of who the Sith Lord is, and get rid of Palpatine.
Cody moves into the temple directly into Obi-Wan’s quarters, while Dooku is pretty much temple bound (he knows what happened and while Qui-Gon’s death is causing him MASSIVE grief, he understands that being kept close at hand is best for him) so he can’t be in the same quarters as Obi-Wan, while Anakin and Ahsoka have pretty much moved in with Padme since she announced she’s pregnant. Anakin basically fought the council and demanded to be allowed to help teach Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan is basically communal padawan now lmao. Dooku can’t do it on his own since he’s dealing with his own shit, Anakin still has to train Ahsoka (but he’s the best for teaching Obi-Wan lightsaber training) and Cody is null but is teaching Obi-Wan Mandalorian language and fighting lol.
Everyone eventually agrees that Cody is basically his dad tho. He’s who Obi-Wan climbs into bed with when he has bad dreams.
Also someone figures out how to fix the clones genetics so they don’t age as fast. Normally I wouldn’t care about that sort of thing, but I always worry about the speedies. They don’t deserve to age like that.
Btw someone showed Rex all the tiny blonde clones they made with his own genetics and he claimed them all as his sons and he lives next door to Obi and Cody and so Obi-Wan has a bunch of little cousins now.
When Garen and Bant and Reeft first got a proper chance to see baby-wan, they hugged him so tight and then Quinlan burst into the room and refused to put Obi-Wan down for an hour. That’s baby. Such baby.
But also, Obi-Wan sleeping in Cody’s arms with his little head on Cody’s bicep and half his body over Cody’s stomach because he’s so tiny. That’s so cute. He’s baby and wants love.

[slams back drink*] I have a new nonsense concept.
* I don't drink alcohol so please imagine this is me taking a sip of my white mocha.
Ahsoka and Rex, due to Maul, get pointed at Mustafar in time to arrive for the Bullshit. Ahsoka definitely goes. Rex and Maul might. What's important is that Ahsoka gets there juuuust in time to see the last moments, you know, where Anakin is clearly off his rocker and Obi-Wan chops off all his limbs and Padme is dying and Anakin's on fire, etc.
The fun stuff.
So Obi-Wan is dead inside, Anakin is dead inside and out (mostly), Padme is dying, and Ahsoka just got here five seconds ago, possibly with a renegade Sith Lord (as opposed to the literally-on-fire Sith Lord a few feet away) and shell-shocked clone captain in tow.
Not a great day to be Ahsoka Tano! Decent day to be Maul, though, Kenobi is suffering and Skywalker-the-replacement is on fire and also has lost limbs like Maul did thirteen years ago, he's having a blast.
(Also Obi-Wan is probably expecting violence from Rex.)
But Ahsoka's emotional turmoil is at such a peak after everything, like her friends all trying to kill her for a bit, that Morai shows up.
Morai, being a personification of the Force-but-only-the-not-evil-parts, recognizes that shit's fucked, but these specific people are, hm, kind of important! To lots of things! Maybe she can use them to fix it.
And so she tosses them all back in time, as one does.
I'm thinking to about when Obi-Wan was ten-ish? So uhhhhhhhh 47 BBY?
Now, to make this peak awkward, I am going to have them landing on Concord Dawn, with the True Mandos.
Again, our cast:
1. Dying pregnant lady that needs immediate medical attention 2. Dying on-fire guy with no limbs (everyone insists he's evil) that needs immediate medical attention 3. Some? Jedi? Who looks like he'd cry if he weren't dehydrated as fuck 4. Terribly overwhelmed teenage togruta wearing beskar and a pair of lightsabers 5. Some guy who looks exactly like the Mand'alor, but older and blonde 6. Motherfucker Unlimited Himself 7. The True Mandalorians
Jango's like nineteen.
He has no idea what to do with these people because the first instinct is to take out the Jedi--Galidraan is three years away but he's not a fan of them in the first place--but there are so many people in need of medical attention and that guy has his face.
Rex, said guy with his face, manages to argue for medical attention first and explanations later (again: dying pregnant lady and recently-on-fire dude), while Ahsoka and Obi-Wan have to shout down Maul from going off and doing his own thing before anyone has a plan.
(If Rex is not there, then neither is Maul, and Ahsoka is the one doing the negotiation while Obi-Wan tries to use what little healing he knows to help--well, to help Padme, because both she and Anakin are dying but Padme has, to Obi-Wan's knowledge, not killed small children the way Anakin has, so he can prioritize her.)
Padme still dies. Unfortunate, but she was choked out on a lava planet and medical attention was delayed, the dark side is at play, etc.
Anakin is. Uh. They put him in a bacta tank and induce a medical coma until someone can come up with a plan.
Which leaves us with Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and the twins.
Padme gets a pyre because they can't take her to get buried on Naboo. Obi-Wan takes on the job of going to Coruscant and warning the Council, etc. If Maul is there, Obi-Wan brings him along as evidence.
Which leaves us with Ahsoka playing Auntie to the twins while Anakin's half-dead, mostly evil, all-unconscious in a bacta tank, Padme's nothing but ashes, and the Mandalorians are generally just kinda. Watching her. Because she's sketchy but also looks like she's Seen Some Shit to a degree that they recognize is a bit much even by their standards.
Rex has firmly entrenched himself in Older Bro territory and keeps refusing to let anyone bother her when she's having a bad day anyway.
"What the fuck is all this setup for?" you might ask. I'll give you one guess.
And @atagotiak did in fact guess:
Unconventional time-travel romance!
HELL YEAH, BABY
I want Jango awkwardly falling in love with Ahsoka, who may or may not give him the time of day, because she's got newborns to look out for, and her older brother is evil and unconscious and missing all his limbs, and her... other brother? Friend? SiC? hates Jango to an uncomfortable degree.
I just really love this mental image of Ahsoka holding both twins and trying to calm them down, near tears because of how overwhelmed she is by all this, possibly covered in some degree of soot or dirt, and Jango catching a look at her and being suddenly struck by Feelings.
Tia:
Also other Jango might’ve been fully aware of his part in causing this whole traumatizing mess and even if this Jango isn’t responsible that’s still. Uh. Awkward, to say the least
Jango still isn't sure what Rex's connection to him IS, just that he's from the future, worked with/for a Jedi, and had some kind of mind control chip in his head.
Nobody explained the clone thing, and Jango can't make the math work yet because nobody's telling him how far into the future these people are from.
So Jango's slowly falling for Cute Dangerous Togruta Jedi(?) Chick while her adoptive older brother (who Jango is starting to think might be his estranged future son or something) glares daggers every time Jango so much as offers her a glass of water.

Last time I went about five months between doing a set of STAR WARS fic recs, this time it’s only been three months! Hurrah! It helps that, as always, this fandom puts out an incredible amount of excellent fic, so I feel like I’m never hurting for fics I want to yell about and shove at people, which is something I continue to appreciate as it often feels like so much of the world is such a huge tire fire. It helps to be able to find fics to retreat into, to have fun with, to express joy and creativity with, and so many of the authors in this fandom are just so good at this! To the point that these sets sometimes take awhile because there are always more fics I want to add, until the post starts threatening to be overly long instead of a decent length–in my defense, no seriously, you guys are just too good! Also, I forced myself to stop at 69 fic recs, because yes I do think it’s funny. (Nice.) STAR WARS FIC RECS: PREQUELS RECS: ✦ a comedy in four acts by jesuisdeux, obi-wan & dooku & yoda & qui-gon & cast, time travel, 4k    This was what time-travel is: staring at the dark sockets of skulls everywhere your gaze lands on. He finds Obi-Wan to beg for death. ✦ Fifth Migration by wrennette, yoda & mace & obi-wan & ki-adi & yarael & coleman & plo & palpatine & cast, 2k    How about an AU where the Sith’s Grand Plan accounted for everything -everything that is, except the fact that the Jedi temple is actually an very ancient spacecraft and the second word got to the Jedi about there being clones on Kamino, all Jedi are called back inside and they take off immediately? Just imagine the dear chancellor’s face… ✦ fill pages with scribbled ink by magneticwave, obi-wan/padme & sabe & mace & quinlan & cast, 9.8k    A year after the Invasion of Naboo, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi is invited by Queen Amidala to return to Naboo and participate in a rite known as the Night of Fireflies. Hey! I saw you’re taking requests and I’d love to request something with Hunter and a female reader! I know this is a pretty common idea (but I absolutely love reading fics about it 😂) but the reader is a Jedi who was saved by the Bad Batch and she’s having trouble adjusting to life after order 66 and Hunter wants to comfort and help her. I feel like prompts 7a and 8a would work well for that. So if you’re at all interested in using this idea then please feel free to! I also don’t mind the use of Y/N. Thanks in advance if you end up using this idea :)

The Maurader shook again as it jumped into lightspeed. You sit alone in your small room, your knuckles turning white by how hard you gripped your lightsaber handle, eyes empty as you stare into the distance. You have no idea how it happened; everything went fast. One moment you were laughing with a clone and the next he was trying to kill you. Tech said that all across the comms, the command 'Order 66' was to exterminate all Jedi because they have committed treason against the Republic which has now been made into the Galactic Empire.
You lost your padawan within the chaos. You know he's still alive; you can feel his force signature but you cannot locate him and keep him safe, Caleb will have to use your training from now on. But when you reached out for your Master to see if he's still alive, it was different. His force signature was clouded, cold, filled with anger and fear. He was alive, but something was wrong, he wasn't the same Anakin Skywalker you grew up with, who taught you everything you now know.
You blink away your thoughts and look down at your lightsaber; the one he taught you how to build. You wrapped it in a cloth before walking out into the main hull. It was quiet. Everyone must have gone to bed after entering lightspeed. You walk to the airlock and place your lightsaber in it. You close the hatch and your hand hovers over the button.
"I wouldn't do that, if I was you," You close your eyes and sigh.
"All this gives me is memories, nightmares. It's cursed," You respond and you hear him stand and walk towards you.
"You might need it,"
"This weapon will put us in danger. They'll keep sending people to kill me. It'll be harder to find a Jedi when it no longers carries its weapon," You say softly.
"Yet you're hesitating?" He questions instead of states. You nod your head, tears threatening to fall.
"Hunter, every person who I trusted tried to kill me 2 days ago. My padawan who I saw as a son is on the run and my Master..." You let out a shaky breath. "All my friends are dead, everyone I grew up with is dead and it was the people who we loved and trusted who did it," You feel a light hand on your shoulder.
"You're not alone in this," He says soothingly. "We lost Crosshairs because of this, but you have us. We're here," You turn your head to see him wearing a warm, comforting smile. "Wrecker can let you hug Lula if you ever need to," You chuckle slightly, trying your best not to cry in front of him.
"How's Omega?" You ask, changing topics.
"She's adjusting just like we all are," He knows you too well. You can tell. The way he's looking at you. He knows you're suffering the most, you almost refused to go with them because people will just keep coming and keep trying to kill you.
"Where are we going?"
"We're going to lay low, for now, wait for the majority of the chaos from Republic to Empire to wash over," You nod, turning back to your lightsaber before pressing the button, watching as space sucks your saber into the blue beams and disintegrates it. Silence falls over you two as you look at the empty space of the airlock. "(Y/N)," You turn to face him.
"Hmm?"
"Are you okay?" That question sent you. You shook your head and began to cry. He instantly moves forward and wraps you in a warm hug, your head burying into his firm chest. "It's alright, I've got you," He ran his fingers through your hair as you sobbed into his chest, glad he's in his blacks so nothing is separating you from him. You grip on him and try to match your breaths with his to calm down. Once you have, he pulls you back to wipe away your tears. "Listen, I'm going to be here for you, nothing in this galaxy will change that. I'm with you until the end. I'll do everything to protect you, do you understand?" You nod and he pulls you back into a warm, needed embrace.
"Hunter?"
"Yeah?" You sniffled and look up at him.
"Can I sleep with you tonight?" He smiles warmly.
"Of course, c'mon," You take his hand as he takes you to his room, vowing never to leave you and to always protect you from whatever the galaxy throws at you.

Cuddles
Rex x Fem!Jedi!Reader
Summary: You are extremely affectionate with everyone but Rex and even though the Captain knows why it bothers him, he refuses to acknowledge his feelings
Warnings: Mentions of injuries, mentions of sex
-------
It wasn’t unusual for the Jedi to send additional healers on dangerous or very long missions. Nor was it unusual for said healers to be Jedi, not only could their force sensitivity help them locate, and to a certain degree heal, even the toughest injuries, they could also help out in battle when needed. And so no one was surprised when you were send along with the 501st on a mission to the outer rim.
-------
“Have you seen General Skywalker? I have a few questions regarding his plans for tomorrow”, Rex asked Ahsoka.
The Padawan looked up from her datapad to point down the corridor.
“I think he wanted a quiet place to work.”
The way Ahsoka said the word made Rex second guess whether the General was actually working or talking to his not-so-secret wife. And even though he didn’t want to interrupt him, he knew how important time with loved ones was the night before a big battle, he really needed his questions answered.
“Thanks.”
Ahsoka smiled at him before turning back to her datapad.
-------
Rex opened and closed a few doors in vain.
Finally he opened the last door of the long corridor and found the General sitting on a blanket he had laid on the floor. But he was not alone.
Rex was surprised that Anakin actually seemed to be working, he had a datapad in his hand and another laying next to him, but that wasn’t what caught the Captain's attention.
You were with the General. Your head was in Anakin’s lap and one of his hands was stroking your hair, which had gotten loose from your bun and was now covering part of your face. Your closed eyes and deep breaths told Rex that you were fast asleep. But instead of thinking how relaxed you looked when sleeping, when for once you didn’t have the weight of protecting the galaxy on your shoulders, he felt as if someone had just shot him right in the chest.
“Rex, is something the matter?”
The Captain tore his eyes away from you to look at Anakin. He tried his best to be professional, not to let a blush rise to his cheeks or his feelings show.
“I have a few questions about tomorrow.”
Anakin nodded. Although both men spoke in quiet voices and the General moved only slightly you began to stir and opened your eyes a moment later.
Being a trained Jedi it took you less than a second to remember where you were and who you were with. Slowly you sat up and looked from Rex to Anakin and back again.
“Hello, Captain”, you said with a soft smile.
And no matter how hard he tried, heat now crept up to his cheeks.
“I am sorry for waking you.”
You shook your head, still smiling.
“Nonsense, I shouldn’t have fallen asleep anyway.”
You looked at Anakin again, who had been watching your interaction with great interest.
“I’ll leave you two alone and get back to work then.”
The Jedi nodded, a smile now gracing his lips as well.
Never in his life had Rex felt as out of place as he did in that very moment. This was a private interaction and he had no business witnessing the smiles the two of you gave each other, nor the loving expression in your eyes. But he couldn’t tear his eyes away, not even when you pressed a gentle kiss to Anakin’s cheek before grabbing the second datapad from the floor.
Rex stepped out of the door to let you pass, careful to put a bit of space between your bodies. But even the few feet between you didn’t stop him from smelling your sweet perfume. Where Jedi could get perfume in the middle of a war was beyond him, but he had come to love every whiff of the scent he got. Though now, more than ever, he knew he shouldn’t. He knew you weren’t his and would never be.
“I’ll see you around, Rex”, you said. And for a moment, just for a short moment, Rex thought you might reach out to him. He braced himself for the touch, but it never came. Instead you smiled before closing the door behind you.
Usually he tried his best to be respectful to General Skywalker and any other Jedi, but he couldn’t help himself.
“Does she know about Senator Amidala?”
Anakin got up from his spot on the floor and looked at Rex with raised eyebrows.
“I’m not sure what you’re referring to.”
Try as he might, Rex couldn’t keep the anger out of his tone.
“Does (Y/N) - I mean General (Y/L/N), of course - does she know you are married to Senator Amidala?”
Anakin stepped closer to Rex. The Captain couldn’t quite read his expression.
“(Y/N)”, he said your name in a way that made it very clear he had noticed Rex’s slip earlier. “Does not know about Padmé.”
“Do you think it’s fair then, to lead her on like this?”
The Jedi looked at Rex for a moment before answering.
“I am not leading her on, I wouldn’t do that. (Y/N) is a friend, she knows it as well as I do.”
Relief flooded over Rex. He had to admit, it wasn’t like General Skywalker to lead someone on, and much less like him to cheat on his wife, but to see the two of you so close made him question everything he though he knew about your relationship.
“Rex, I hope you know that you can be honest with me about... well, you and (Y/N).”
The blond took a step back, then another, until his back hit the wall behind him.
“I don’t know what you’re implying. There is no me and (Y/N) - General (Y/L/N), I mean.”
Even though Rex tried to sound convincing a smirk played on Anakin’s lips.
“Of course, Captain. Of course.”
The next couple of days his conversation with Anakin kept replaying in Rex’s head. It kept him from sleeping, haunted his dreams and even distracted him on the battlefield. So much so that it he let a blaster strike his shoulder and was send to the med bay, where he ran right into you.
“Captain, I heard what happened”, you greeted him. “Let me have a look at that shoulder and we’ll get it as good as new again.”
You reached out a hand to his injured shoulder, but without thinking Rex stepped out of the way.
“I’m fine. There are others who need your help more than I do.”
You let your hand fall as your eyebrows knitted together in worry.
“You are my last patient for today, everyone else is already taken care of. Now let me help you, I can see you’re in pain.”
And no matter how much his head protested, his heart made him nod in agreement.
He followed you to one of the few beds that were not occupied and sat down as you gathered any supplies you might need.
“I must admit, it is not like you to get hit”, you said while you opened and closed drawers.
Rex just shrugged. It wasn’t as if he could tell you that he had been distracted because he was jealous of your relationship with Anakin or, worse, that he suspected the General knew about his feelings for you.
You finally finished and turned to Rex.
“You’ll need to take your armor off. And your shirt as well. Even I can’t heal you without actually seeing the wound.”
Once again Rex found himself trying not to blush. He hurried to do as you told him and just a few seconds later he was shirtless.
You moved closer, so close, that he could feel your body heat, even through your robes, and smell your perfume, though now there was also a hint of sweat beneath the sweet scent.
You laid a soft hand on his shoulder, careful not to touch the wound but Rex tensed nonetheless.
“Does it hurt?”, you asked softly.
He shook his head. It didn’t hurt, at least not on his shoulder. But he felt as if his heart was being ripped apart by being so close to you, but not close enough, never close enough.
“It looks worse than it is”, you mumbled more to yourself than Rex. He felt something cold, probably a bit of bacta spray, hitting the wound and a warm, tingly feeling a moment later. Your soft fingers danced over the now closed wound as you applied a bit of salve before placing a plaster on top.
“That should do the trick.”
You stepped back and for a moment Rex could have sworn you were looking up and down his unclad upper half, with a look in your eyes that didn’t speak of medical professionalism. But surely he had to be imagining that, you had spend most of the day patching up his brothers, clones that looked just like him, you had no reason to be checking him out.
“How are you, Rex?”
For the first time in what felt like an eternity he met your eyes. A look of concern was in them, along with a softness he didn’t even know he needed after the rough day he’d had.
“I’m fine.”
With a sigh you sat down next to him just as Rex put his shirt back on. You were careful to keep space between you, but once again Rex could swear he felt heat radiating off of you.
“We both know you’re lying.”
That, right there, was one of the things Rex loved most about you. Others pretended to care or said nice words solely to motivate him in his fight for the republic, but you cared. You seemed to love the 501st like family, more than a Jedi was probably supposed to. And not just Ahsoka and Anakin, the clones as well. You never made any of them feel like they were worth less, you made them feel loved and like they belonged.
“Can you tell because of the force?”, he tried to joke. You, however, remained serious.
“I can tell because I know you. And I know you’ve not been yourself lately. What’s going on?”
He looked down at your hand that has found its way to his thigh. The second his eyes landed on it you removed it and even though he knew it wasn’t possible, Rex thought he could see your cheeks darkening a bit.
“I’ve just been thinking about something General Skywalker recently said. About... me and a girl, a woman. He thinks there’s something going on between us, but that’s rubbish.”
Your eyes glazed over with something that almost looked like sadness, but it might as well have been confusion or just understanding. No matter what you were feeling, you gave Rex a small smile.
“Why would you say that?”
He thought about how he should answer your question honestly without giving away that he was talking about you.
“She’s not really supposed to be in a relationship, due to her... religion. And besides, she’s way too good for me. She’s kind and funny and caring and the most beautiful girl I’ve ever laid my eyes upon. And I’m just... well, I mean, why should she choose me even if she could?”
Rex tried his best to avoid your eyes and instead opted for looking at the floor. He knew that you would figure out who he was talking about the moment he looked at you.
You didn’t say anything for a while and Rex almost worried he had scared you away. Perhaps you did know he was talking about you, perhaps you were disappointed or mad or even disgusted.
“Oh Rex”, you finally said. He felt your light touch on the small of his back before your fingers disappeared again, leaving behind a cold that was not there before.
“Anyone would be lucky to have you, and I do mean anyone. You’re all those things you said she is. You’re one of the kindest men I know, you’re funny in your own way, you care so much about your brother, about Anakin and Ahsoka and about me, I hope.”
You stopped for a moment.
“And you’re beautiful as well. Sure, you may look like your brothers, but there is an inner beauty in you as well. You’re one of a kind and anyone who can’t see that doesn’t deserve you anyway.”
Rex couldn’t help himself, after your kind words he just had to look at you. Tears were shining in your eyes and a smile was on your lips.
It took Rex all the courage he had to lay his hand on top of yours, but the way you gripped it tight and stroked it with your thumb made up for the nerves.
“Thank you, (Y/N). That means a lot to me.”
The interaction in the med bay stayed with Rex for weeks on end. He though of it when he needed something to distract him from all the horrors he saw on a daily basis or when he needed to escape from his brothers or General Skywalker for a while. But mostly when he needed to remind himself why he was fighting this war, who he was trying to protect.
“Rex, are you with us?”, General Skywalker asked, pulling him out of his thoughts.
“Yes, Sir.”
Rex could hear Fives snickering behind him, but he could easily ignore it. Especially when you were standing just a few meters away in between Anakin and Ahsoka.
It was late and General Skywalker was just recapping the latest mission to General Kenobi over the holo. And while Rex did listen with one ear, most of his attention of on you.
Everyone was tired, but you seemed especially so, maybe because using the force to heal the clones, and Anakin as well because he couldn’t go a single battle without an unnecessary injury, took its toll on you. You had one arm around Ahsoka and your head rested on her shoulder as you nodded along with Anakin’s report. It seemed as if you were half asleep in your friend’s embrace, which reminded Rex of the time he had found you sleeping in the General’s lap. Your exhaustion was obvious and all Rex wanted to do that very moment was to wrap you up in a blanket and have you fall asleep in his arms, to make sure no harm could come to you in your most defenseless state.
“Thank you, Anakin. Now everyone get some sleep, especially you, (Y/N)”, Obi-Wan finally said before ending the holo.
Anakin repeated the words to the clones and added that they would have a rare day off tomorrow. He then turned towards the other two Jedi and said something to them in a low voice. You just nodded along, though Rex was sure you were too sleepy to really understand what the General was saying.
“Rex”, Echo said, clapping a hand on his shoulder. “Are you coming or are you gonna keep staring at General (Y/L/N)?”
The Captain turned to his brother, making sure no one had overheard what he’d just said.
“I am not staring. I’m just concerned, she should get some sleep.”
“And you wanna take her to bed?”, Fives chimed in, wiggling his eyebrows.
“Shut up”, Echo said before Rex could.
He couldn’t deny Fives’ words, but right now all he wanted was for you to get a good night’s sleep.
Rex moved his brothers along towards their quarters. But he couldn’t resist to look at you one last time before the door closed behind him.
You and Ahsoka were now in a full embrace and he saw her gently kissing the top of your head. Once again he felt the pang of jealousy at how close you were to anyone but him, how everyone else constantly seemed to be touching or hugging or kissing you and he was too nervous to make any kind of skin to skin contact last longer than half a second.
Anakin stayed true to his word, so the next day the 501st found themselves on some small tropical planet with lush forests, golden sand and a clear blue sea. Everyone was in a good mood, swimming in the cool water, laying in the sun or getting caught up in some shenanigans Rex didn’t bother investigating. Almost everyone that was, General Skywalker seemed miserable. He was sitting under a tall tree on the edge of the beach, careful to stay on the grass and not to touch the sand. Rex had heard rumors that Anakin hated sand more than any separatist, but part of him though that he was just sad there wasn’t enough time off to visit his wife.
“C’mon, Skyguy, you’re missing out on all the fun”, Ahsoka shouted at her master from the edge of the water. A smile made its way to Rex’s lips at how hard she was trying to get everyone to enjoy the day. The smile only grew when his eyes landed on you. You were right next to the Padawan in as little clothing as Rex had ever seen you in. Compared to what many other women wore to the beach it was still incredibly modest, though he supposed Jedi didn’t really own bikinis. Instead you wore a pair of shorts that cut up in the middle of your thigh and a top that showed just a little bit of your stomach and more of your cleavage than he had ever seen. Rex tried his hardest not to stare, he really did, but his eyes were just drawn to your figure.
“I don’t think there’s anything in the Jedi code that forbids sex, just relationships”, Fives said.
Rex hadn’t even noticed his brother sitting down next to him. But he did make an active choice not to reply.
“I think she’d say yes if you asked. Of course you’d have to get over your nerves first”, Fives continued.
This time Rex was about to answer when the sound of your laughter interrupted him. You were surrounded by four of his brothers, all of them stripped down to the trousers of their blacks, who were splashing you with water and tickling you. Another couple troopers were chasing after Ahsoka, probably trying to give her the same treatment, but Rex only had eyes for you.
He knew both Anakin and Ahsoka saw you as a friend, nothing more than a close friend, but he hated that he couldn’t say the same for his brothers. Of course he knew they weren’t trying to anger him, most of them had hopefully not even noticed his attachment to you, but he couldn’t help jealousy rising up in him.
He finally turned back to Fives.
“Did you give them the same speech?”
By now you were no longer playfighting with the clones, instead you had your arms around two of them and watched the others chasing Ahsoka.
“It’s not my fault you get jealous so easily. All I’m saying is that you should talk to her. The worst that could happen is that things stay the same, but maybe if you got laid you’d loosen up every once in a while. And I’m sure she’d be great. Don’t they say the once who seem innocent are the best in bed?”
Sometimes Rex didn’t need words, sometimes a single glare could make even Fives shut his mouth.
For the rest of the day Rex tried to keep his distance from you. With the sun shining in your eyes, a relaxed smile on your lips and more skin than usually showing he didn’t trust himself not to say something he might regret.
It wasn’t until the evening that he saw you again.
Rex walked into the sleeping quarters he shared with his brother, he wanted to get a fresh set of blacks to change into after his shower, but once again he opened a door only to find you curled up next to someone. This time it was Echo and Fives. Each of you was holding a datapad, you and Echo seemed to be reading while Fives was apparently watching some holovideo. You sat in between Echo’s legs, leaning against him with your back pressed to his chest and Fives head was laying in your lap.
After staring at you for a moment Rex decided to make his presence known.
“I hope I’m not interrupting”, he said and could have slapped himself a moment later. Of all the things he could have said, that’s what he had to settle on.
All of you looked up from your respective holopads and Fives even sat up from his place on your lap.
“Rex, I mean Captain, I mean Captain Rex”, you stuttered and this time not even Rex could deny that you were blushing. “You’re not interrupting, at all. In fact, you can join us if you’d like.”
If it weren’t for his brothers Rex would have agreed. He would have ignored how nervous your mere presence made him and how much he shouldn’t want to be near you, but instead he turned around and walked right of the door.
It wasn’t until he was halfway across the ship that he realized that he hadn’t even given you an answer.
Rex hated to admit it, but he missed you terribly. Ever since that day off he barely saw you and when he did you wouldn’t meet his eyes. Even that one time he was send to the med bay you didn’t go near him and Kix took care of his injuries instead. The worst part was that Rex knew it was his fault. No matter how often he told himself that it was for the better, that the two of you would never have worked out, he couldn’t stop the guilt. If he had just acted normal, not so cold, around you you might at least be friends.
It was especially bad when he walked into the med bay after another battle, expecting to at least see you from a distance. Instead he was met with Kix mumbling under his breath and med droids going about their business.
Most of the beds were empty but Rex stepped closer to the ones that were occupied to see which of his brothers were injured and how they were feeling. Just as he made his way to the last bed Kix stepped in front of him.
“Can you take care of her for a moment? General Skywalker is waiting for me to report on the injured and the droids should clean up while I’m gone.”
Rex tried to sneak a peek over his brothers shoulder.
“Is Ahsoka injured? What happened?”
Kix’s face softened as he put a gentle hand on Rex’s shoulder.
“It’s (Y/N)”, he told him.
Within a second Rex was at your bed. You were paler than he’d like, eyes closed in a fitful sleep, hair a mess on the pillow.
“What happened?”
Rex hated how broken his voice sounded, but he hated it even more that he hadn’t even known you were injured, let alone unconscious. How could he not have known? Had he been so focused on keeping his distance or was it because you were avoiding him?
“The General put her in battle last minute, to watch our backs. But no one was watching her’s, she got shot right in the stomach and barely pulled through.”
For a short moment Rex allowed himself to touch your shoulder. You were colder than usual, colder than you were supposed to be.
“I’ll be back soon, all you need to do is stay close in case she wakes up. I simply don’t want her to wake up alone.”
When Kix kissed your forehead none of Rex’s usual jealousy appeared. Maybe it was because Kix, who you spend most of your days with, was like a brother to you, or maybe he finally learned that he had no reason to be jealous.
For a while Rex just stood there and watched you. From time to time his gaze wandered over to the monitor next to your bed that was recording your heartbeat and blood pressure and other medical necessities.
The next time he turned his eyes back to you your own were slowly opening.
“What happened? Where am - Rex? Rex, what are you doing here?”
He didn’t know whether it was the sound of your voice, which told him you were alright more than any machine counting your heartbeat ever could, or the way you said his name, but tears appeared in the corners of his eyes.
“You’re okay. Oh stars, you’re okay.”
He leaned down to brush a strand of hair out of your face. You smiled at him, slowly the colour was returning to your cheeks and a moment later you used the little controller to sit up in your bed.
“I’m more than okay.”
And just like that Rex’s heart stopped for a beat.
“(Y/N), I owe you an apology. I know I’ve been distant and I just want you to know that it’s not your fault. It’s me, I just -”
“I know”, you interrupted him, the smile on your lips turning a bit sadder. “You feel forced by me and you’re right, I should try to keep my distance and that’s what I’ve been trying to do but -”
You stopped and looked around the room.
“Is everyone else asleep?”
Rex was confused, but he nodded. The injured clones had been put to sleep to really recover from their injuries.
“I’ve been trying to keep my distance, but it breaks me. I like cuddling with Anakin, I like when Ahsoka kisses my forehead, I like being hugged by your brothers, but a little brush of your fingers sets off fireworks in me. And I know you don’t like being touched, but touch is my love language. I want the people I love close to me, I want to be touching and hugging and kissing them.”
By now there was not only colour in your cheeks, you were blushing furiously. You lifted a hand to run it through your hair and tried to watch Rex only out of the corner of your eye.
“You don’t have to say anything, I just wanted you to know.”
But you had interpreted Rex’s silence wrong, he wasn’t offended, he was stunned.
“You - You love me?”
He didn’t think it was possible, but you blushed even deeper.
“You really don’t have to say anything, we can still be friends. The last thing I want is to push something on you you don’t want, whether it is a touch or a kiss or even a secret relationship, because I know those can be though. But you deserve to know how I feel about you.”
Before you could say anything else Rex was leaning down and pressing his lips to yours. At first you were too shocked to respond, but you soon melted into the kiss, into his hand on your cheek and the other on your hip. You moved your arms around his neck to pull him even closer.
When you finally let go to catch your breath Rex leaned his forehead against yours.
“I love being touched by you, I love you. But every single touch made me nervous and happy and confused, but every slight brush of fingers was all I thought about for days. And that time in the med bay, when I had injured my shoulder, was like a dream come true.”
You smiled up at Rex, a smile bigger than any he’d seen on you before.
“Can you say that again?”
He mirrored your smile.
“Which part?”
You pecked his lips in a loving kiss.
“You know which part.”
“I love you.”
He pressed a soft kiss to your lips.
“I love you.”
Another kiss.
“I love you too.”
And another kiss.
“I won”, Ahsoka announced with a smile.
Both Anakin and Fives shook their heads.
“No way, he kissed her first!”, the Jedi protested.
“But she did say I love you first”, Kix chimed in.
“Technically Rex said the words first”, Echo added, which earned him eye rolls from the others.
“How about we just make a new bet to see when they tell us they’re together”, Kix suggested.
“I bet you five credits (Y/N) is gonna tell me within a week”, Anakin said with a knowing smirk.
Ahsoksa shook her head. “No way, she’s gonna tell me first. Ten credits.”
Her master smiled.
“Deal!”

and the world tilts upon its axis
Summary: “You never told us.” Anakin’s words pierce directly into Ahsoka’s heart; she can’t imagine what they do to his master. That stricken feeling flits through the Force again before Obi-Wan can wrangle it again. At least it gets Anakin to look up. He looks torn, agonized, pained, but repeats, unsteady, “You never told us.”
“The past is not an easy thing for me to speak of.”
Notes: (Obligatory ‘everyone finds out about Obi-Wan’s shitty childhood’ fic.) Past Abuse/Violence, Slavery.
“It really isn’t a problem anymore,” Obi-Wan tells them all very reasonably. “I haven’t had a vision in years--not a clear one, anyway. Feelings, things like that, but nothing so concrete as they used to be. Master Qui-Gon taught me how to see past the feelings years ago.”
“You used to get Force visions,” Ahsoka says, tone rather shrill, “and you never told us?”
Anakin makes a loud choking noise deep in his throat. Cody, sitting on a crate of supplies near where Ahsoka and her master collapsed half an hour after their latest battle, shakes his head. Ahsoka pulls herself up to sit beside him, feeling rather as if something very important has been ripped away from her before she even knew it existed. He looks up at Obi-Wan, the only one standing out of all of them, and says, “I don’t understand what the big deal is.”
“There isn’t one,” Rex supplies. Skyguy tries to swat at him without taking his arm from over his eyes, but Rex moves out of the way and leans back against a wall of the Resolute. He shrugs. “Jedi are just dramatic like that.”
“Much as I dislike the generalization,” Obi-Wan interjects, “I have to agree in this case. Force visions can be upsetting and helpful in equal measure, and they faded from my mind a long time ago. I’m surprised my medical files even contain a record of those after all these years."
“What if they come back!” Anakin sits up, glaring. “You never even said anything. I’ve heard Master Windu talking about how forceful they can be--you cold pass out if a vision comes at the wrong time! I’ve heard some younglings are prone to seizures!”
The thought makes Ahsoka shudder. She wraps her arms around herself surreptitiously. Cody sends her a sympathetic look.
The next words out of Master Kenobi’s mouth make her blood go cold. “Well, yes, I know that, Anakin. I was the youngling Mace was speaking of.”
“What.”
Obi-Wan waves his commander off, though, and shakes his head. “Honestly, it’s fine now. We wouldn’t even need to have this useless conversation if you hadn’t sliced into my medical files, Anakin--”
Rex is already across the room and peering over Anakin’s shoulder as her master rifles through his datapad, so Ahsoka chalks Obi-Wan’s efforts up as a lost cause. She pulls her own datapad out and shuffles closer to Cody instead; Skyguy sent her a copy of her grandmaster's file as soon as he could manage. Something about not being able to trust Obi-Wan when he said he didn’t need to go to medical.
Ahsoka thinks that is the pot calling the kettle black, but--
“You have nerve damage?”
At Rex’s incredulous exclamation, Obi-Wan closes his eyes for a long, long moment. Then he opens them, runs a hand over his beard, and looks around for a place to sit. “This is going to be a long conversation, I see. Is everyone sure they wouldn’t like to move to, I don’t know, anywhere but the cargo hold, before we begin?”
“Shinies are everywhere else,” Rex points out briskly, “but the cargo hold is too cold for most of us. We run too warm to be comfortable here.”
“That isn’t good. You should’ve told us sooner--I’ll have to talk to Master Shaak Ti about what we can do for you.”
“Deflecting.” Anakin intones. In any other setting, his stern tone would make her laugh. Obi-Wan sighs again, and settles down into a meditation pose across from his former padawan, fixing them all with a half-exasperated, half-doting look.
“Yes,” Obi-Wan says. “I have nerve damage. I’m sure you’ve all seen how many layers I wear? It’s to help my blood circulation. I can’t keep myself warm enough otherwise, because I can’t feel how cold my surface skin is until it’s too late. So, extra clothing all the time, just in case. I can deal with a little sweat if the outcome is less chance of frostbite.”
“ Why do you have nerve damage?”
“Have you seen how many times I’ve been electrocuted?” Obi-Wan answers. He’s too serene for Ahsoka’s liking.
“I’ve been electrocuted twice as much as you have,” Anakin points out. At his shoulder, Rex nods, but stops when Anakin snaps his gaze to his captain. He turns back to his former master. “And I don’t have nerve damage.”
“You’ve been electrocuted twice as much as I have been recently.” Her grandmaster normally looks a little tired, but this conversation seems to be getting to him more than most; he rubs at his face again, and, with his hand still over his eyes, says, “Electro-whips and prods were the weapon of choice in the mines.”
The words are quiet, like Obi-Wan really meant for them to be under his breath, but it makes every spine in the room go rigid.
Very slowly, Anakin sits forward on his knees. His datapad slips from his lap. Rex only just catches it before it clatters to the floor. Ahsoka has never seen her master’s eyes look as sharp as they are now. “Which mines, Master? And what were you doing there?”
Obi-Wan’s lips thin. “You do realize I’ve had an entire life without you? Twenty years or so, in fact. Things did happen to me before you came along.”
It’s always been a fact that Obi-Wan is older than herself and her master. It’s never bothered Ahsoka before--until now. To know he’s been alone--without them, at least--for so long? The clones are all artificially aged to be around Obi-Wan’s age, maybe a little younger. It’s easy for Ahsoka to forget they haven’t been around forever, that Cody hasn’t been one step behind his general every day of both their lives. It turns her stomach.
“Answer the question!” Anakin all but demands.
Obi-Wan’s hand falls from his face and for a second Ahsoka can detect something stricken in the Force before his expression smooths over into an artificial calm. “It’s really not--”
“No.” Cody says. It’s all he can seem to get out. Ahsoka tries not to flinch at the darkening mood in the Force and reaches out to loosely grip Cody’s wrist. After a moment, he turns his hand over and offers her his palm as Obi-Wan begins, reluctantly, to speak. Ahsoka takes it.
Obi-Wan bites his lip when he tells them about being sent away from the temple.
It rocks Ahsoka to her core when he speaks about the situation on Bandomeer, even more so with the revelation that he nearly wasn’t a Jedi. A Jedi Order without Obi-Wan Kenobi? A Council without his guidance? A GAR without the Negotiator?
Her lineage without his support?
“You had to fight a Hutt without anyone to help you.” Anakin sounds more choked than he did before. Ahsoka wishes she could reach out and soothe him in the Force, but she’s doing her best to keep her shields up. The Force knows how Master Obi-Wan is feeling right now.
“Master Qui-Gon helped me when he could,” Obi-Wan assures. His voice isn't as steady as she’s used to, but he carries on admirably. It makes Ahsoka wonder how long it took him to perfect his sabacc face. Her heart twists in her chest. “He’s also the reason I only spent a few weeks in the mines--I was fitted with a Force-inhibiting collar, you see, so I had to have help navigating my way out with the rest of the--” He cuts himself off. It takes a minute for the gears to turn in her head, for Ahsoka to realize he doesn’t intend to continue.
“The?” Rex prompts, face and tone bleak. “The miners?”
Obi-Wan actually does wince now. “The slaves.”
“It was a bomb collar,” Anakin says. "You were fitted with a bomb collar." His face is blank until Obi-Wan nods, at which point his expression seems to crumple in on itself. Anakin puts his head between his knees and breathes loudly through his mouth. Obi-Wan pauses and refuses to go on until Anakin raises his head and glares her grandmaster into submission. In the back of her mind, in the only small corner not screaming in horror, Ahsoka hopes one day she’ll be able to cow her own master like that.
She regrets the thought as soon as Obi-Wan speaks, quiet and too soft into the dead silence of the air around them, about Melida/Daan. “They were just children,” Obi-Wan whispers. His hands clench and unclench on his thighs and it is all Ahsoka can do not to let go of Cody’s fingers and throw her arms around him. “I couldn’t leave them behind, even if it cost me my place among the Jedi. They had no one else to turn to. You must understand?”
It explains so much of his file--parts of it are redacted, too early in his apprenticeship to signal anything but disaster, and he’s reported too many times to the Halls of Healing--too many times he’s had to be carried in. If Ahsoka had the same medical record her grandmaster does, she’d have to get herself grievously injured on every other mission, and she’s grown up in a Force forsaken warzone.
She’s positive she doesn’t want to hear the rest.
Ahsoka isn’t sure how long it has been when Obi-Wan’s voice peters out soon after his explanation of Cerasi’s sacrifice on his behalf (and Force, did everyone Obi-Wan ever loved have to keep dying in his arms, it’s so disgusting, it’s awful, how could this happen so much to just one person, to someone she loves--). After a long moment of quiet, Ahsoka finds the strength, herculean as it is, to lift her gaze from where it has been fixed on her knees. Her grandmaster stares into middle space just the same as her, and his face is as she has never seen it before--stone cold, closed off and unwelcoming. It’s sort of like when Skyguy gets into one of his moods.
Speaking of Skyguy, he doesn’t seem to be faring much better; his head is between his knees again but his hands, like Rex’s beside him, are clenched into fists. He’s shaking so hard she can see it from across the room. Ahsoka realizes that at some point Cody let go of her own hand, and glances around to see him clenching his bucket on his knees fit to crush it between his very human palms.
Then her grandmaster draws himself up into a proper sitting position and sighs, a light puff of air that Ahsoka has come to learn is his way of reorienting himself. “It worked out in the end. Qui-Gon came back for me when I called and was able to help bring balance to the planet--something I couldn’t have done alone. I was admitted back into the Order as his apprentice and then--” Obi-Wan’s lips twitch into a sardonic smile. “Well, nothing much happened until we went to Mandalore, but you know just about as much as I am willing to tell you about that experience.”
The attempt at humor falls a little too flat.
“You never told us.” Anakin’s words pierce directly into Ahsoka’s heart; she can’t imagine what they do to his master. That stricken feeling flits through the Force again before Obi-Wan can wrangle it again. At least it gets Anakin to look up. He looks torn, agonized, pained, but repeats, unsteady, “You never told us.”
“The past is not an easy thing for me to speak of.”
“You didn’t tell me.”
Anakin’s eyes spark with heat. She can’t see much of Obi-Wan’s face from here when he turns his head, just enough to know they’re having one of their silent conversations. Those have become few and far between, of late. It’s almost a comfort to see.
“You were my padawan.” Obi-Wan says slowly, like he’s formulating his words as he thinks of them. Ahsoka herself feels drained, empty, a husk--she can’t imagine how he must feel right now. “Ahsoka is my grandpadawan. Rex and Cody are my subordinates. It’s incredibly inappropriate, not to mention irresponsible and near abusive, to unload such traumatic, personal stories upon those who cannot legally or knowingly consent--”
“Sir, permission to speak freely?” Cody doesn’t wait for more than a surprised, dry laugh, before he says, “That is absolutely the biggest crock of bantha fodder I’ve ever heard.”
“Perhaps. That does not mean it is not true. I should not have even told you now--I just don’t want you to find out from some clinical diagnosis instead. You all deserve better.”
“Oh, I have no doubt you believe everything you just said, even that kark you just spewed. It’s just horrifying to know you think it.” Cody’s grip relaxes on his helmet with no little effort. He breathes in through his nose, out through his mouth once, and then opens his eyes and nods decisively first to Rex, who nods back, and then to Obi-Wan, who looks puzzled. “But we’re here to help, Sir. No matter what.”
Obi-Wan’s smile pulls a little wider. “Even if I don’t want it, hm?”
“Especially then,” Rex agrees. “Right, General? Commander?”
“Of course.” Ahsoka says, the words struggling so much to stampede out of her mouth that they trip over themselves.
“Always.” Anakin croaks. He’s the first to scramble to his feet as his master rises. He’s the first to throw himself at Obi-Wan. He’s the first to wrap him in an embrace that lasts maybe a bit longer than Master Kenobi’s sense of decorum would prefer. (Not that she sees her grandmaster complaining, of course.)
Anakin is not the last.
Rex settles for a nod and a clap on the shoulder. It’s only his position closer to Skyguy and Obi-Wan that gets her captain there before his commander; Ahsoka shoves him bodily out of the way and wraps her arms as tight as she can around Obi-Wan’s middle. Her skin itches and her muscles flex with the need to squeeze the sadness, the pain, the terrible past right out of him, even if she knows that’s silly. She tries anyway. Subtly, of course. Obi-Wan holds her back, just as he held Anakin before her, warm and all-encompassing and so safe. (Now she knows why. Now she knows he needs to feel that she and her master before her and every youngling after them is safe, that they are protected against a world that threatened to swallow him up and spit out his bones.)
Cody is last, stepping up to his general as Ahsoka pulls away reluctantly. He holds out a hand and Obi-Wan, without missing a beat (although his eyes are a little misty, but so are Ahsoka’s, and Anakin's, and Rex’s), grips his commander’s forearm. He goes very still when Cody pulls him into a keldabe. Ahsoka turns her eyes away when he lets out a trembling breath. Cody speaks, but his rumbling tone is too low for Ahsoka to pick out words. It’s alright, though; they aren’t for her.
“Mishuk gotal'u meshuroke, pako kyore.” Cody murmurs, slightly louder. Obi-Wan scoffs quietly and Ahsoka turns her head just in time to see Cody smirk back, pull away, and shake Obi-Wan’s arm, just a little, friendly, familiar. It makes the clawing, cloying thing in her chest that has grown throughout the evening finally ease. Skyguy wraps an arm around her, guiding them both out of the cargo hold and back to their quarters. He’s got the right idea--she’s very tired now.
Before the door closes behind Rex as they step outside, she hears Cody’s last words to Obi-Wan and wonders what they mean.
“ Aliit ori'shya tal'din.”
The Force is noticeably lighter when Ahsoka wakes in the morning.

Children Fall AU
Padawan Anakin with a group of initiates all ‘Falling’ at the same time
Maybe a Gathering gone wrong or something. Everyone is captured. Pirates or bounty hunters or just awful people.
No knights or the knights are killed.
Anakin is trying to protect the younglings.
Sacrificing himself if he can.
Falls in the process.
The kids are too young. They're not supposed to be in the field yet. There's a reason you're supposed to be a certain age before field missions. Before being chosen as a Padawan.
They can't handle their emotions.
They try to save Anakin right back but Fall, too.
Maybe they get overwhelmed by Anakin's Falling, since he is a supernova? And their shields aren't enough to protect them?
They survive and everyone is dead or dying but Anakin stands among a group of children, all with eyes of gold and he doesn't know what to do.
I want there to be like a noble reason for it?
Maybe but that definitely doesn't help the situation.
Maybe he remembers the tales of the Sith and executions.
He takes the kids and runs.
He doesn't know what he'll do, he just wants to protect them.
Maybe he Falls because he can't defeat the pirates/bounty hunters otherwise
They are kids, they can't be that dark, could they Fall by a Coruscanti Jedi point of view? Not so much Dark as too much attached, multiple Force Bonds attached? The question is more along the lines of Anakin knowing that, though.
They are holding each other together so closely that they would break if you tried to separate them? The pieces make a coherent whole together, but otherwise they would just be broken?
What if the younglings fell first and Anakin fell so that they wouldn't be alone.
Like the idea that the younglings would be hunted or at the very least isolated and he couldn't let that happen (Bariss and Ahsoka could be part of that group, they are in the right age range, right?)
He promised to protect them and he kept them alive but ultimately failed in the way that matters most to the Jedi.
It also could be about healing and building far away from what you used to know and considered home.
So the situation is too much too soon and they all fall. And Anakin with his too big heart and shields that still don't block emotions as much as they should is overwhelmed and he could fight it but…
But these kids need him. They're scared and terrified and he knows that they aren't going to risk heading back to the Jedi, not with the horror stories told about Sith and Dark Side users.
He can't leave them. They need someone, anyone. Even if that's probably him.
You could have them pick up other Force Sensitives kids in bad situations as they flee and protect each other. Like a travelling clan of Forces Sensitives.
The use of the word clan makes me wonder if this version of Anakin would look into alternative Jedi philosophies, like Vizla.
And the Jedi mourning Anakin plus the Initiates because they think they're dead.
The Jedi eventually track down the pirates, but the base has so much blood and darkside surrounding it that they assume that the pirates were blindsided by a dark force user/sith and the children were taken. The Jedi finding the building and feeling the overwhelming about of dark side energy that was used there.
Privately the Council almost hope they're dead because they think that it would be a kinder fate than to be tortured and broken by the Sith.
Quinlan not being able to get a read on anything because it's so heavy with pain and dark side energy.
All he sees is gold eyes and screaming.
He doesn't notice that it's more than one pair. Doesn't realise that they're each filled with tears and oh so young.
Obi-Wan is convinced that Anakin is still alive because the bond didn't snap but it might as well have because it's never been so solidly closed to him.
Anakin was always leaking emotions and thoughts through the bond and now all that meets Obi-Wan is a durasteel wall.
Also, Anakin becoming a bounty hunter to make sure the kids get enough food
If he looks into the Mandalorian Jedi, as a way to teach the Fallen kids, he could become Mando and do the bounty hunting as a way to take care of them. Just an idea, though.
What if they all become bounty hunters and no one realises that they're Sith or Dark Side users? Until a fight ends in a helmet being knocked off.
I like the thought of the kids forming a new Order of nomadic Force Users, you could fit so much Force worldbuilding here as they figure things out away from Coruscant.
What if dar jettii Ani and his gaggle of kids has a run in with Jango Fett. Depends on canon or fanon interpretation really.
I would imagine that Jango would absolutely adopt this smol child (teenager) and his band of even more smol children.
Wouldn't that be hilarious? Jango with 8 new kids?
One sullen teenager that refuses to trust. And then he plops Boba in Anakin's arms and Anakin just freaking melts and it's all over from there.
So, this Jango has his hatred of Jedi balanced by his love of children?
Or is it part of his plan against the Jedi to encourage Force users to create an alternative that won't make the same mistakes the Jedi did that led to the slaughter of his people?
I don't know since Anakin & Co. here aren't exactly Jedi. Though I think this Jango would have his hatred of Jedi balanced by his love of his 8 foundlings.
Jango as the Mand'alor.
Anakin pitches a fit when he finds out about the clones and Jango doing right by them
And all eight new kids have lightsabers, but they're not Jedi, so..........Boba/Jango might get the Darksaber in this!!!
Anakin finds out that Vizla has a Jedi artifact and just gets it back.
Hands it to Jango: “Like what? You needed this, right?”
Jango is a tired new dad. So Anakin is just like running around doing whatever and causing his dad stress.
What if Jango adopted them and didn't tell them?
Like, he said the words and Anakin didn't understand. The others did too, because they had that class, but Anakin didn’t
I mean Anakin would jokingly call him "buir" or "dad" at one point or another and Anakin is like "why do you even care".
He gets it eventually.
When he sits the fuck down and stops running around trying to protect everyone and puts the time in to sort his shit.
Read: When Jango gets the kids to sit on him when he starts looking like complete shit.
Yeah, Jango absolutely enlists his siblings' fellow former-Jedi to get him to slow down and relax.
They have it out at some point that Jango adopted him probably when he's gotten himself injured and doesn't understand why Jango won't leave him
and Jango's like "You kriffing di'kut, you're my son" and Anakin's like "?!?!?!? What?!?!"
Anakin can speak several languages but not mandoa. Jango tries to teach him, but his accent is atrocious.
Anakin can understand Mando'a and he sometimes uses some words, but he can't speak it.
Plus, he sometimes crosses Mando'a with another language or several and it just becomes an incomprehensible mess unless you understand all the languages he's crossed Mando'a with.
how about Mando'a's too close to something else he knows.
He keeps getting it super confused with another language.
Like french and spanish, but there's no cross meanings, so it might sound the same, the meanings AREN'T.
At this point, everyone just goes "you need a translator droid if you want to speak with Anakin"
However, he will offhandedly speak in another language or start writing in one language and end in another no matter how fluent he is.
And his accent is still atrocious. The closest comparison is the bastard compromise between Texan and Yorkshire.
Anakin is that one person who will use words from whatever languages are the best to speak about any given subjects.
Or whichever language he associates with a given subject. That's why he learned how to speak binary in the first place.
Boba becomes fluent in binary before speaking fluently in Mando'a.
I wonder how the discovery of Kamino would pan out in this.
Anakin accidentally starts a clone rebellion, and oops, it looks like there might be a Revolution on Kamino.
Slave rebellions are always very very good.
Dex: Ah yes Kamino, or how the Mand’alor got his groove back. Outer Rim politics got wild a while back let’s just say. Long story short, the Mand'alor adopted eight new children, one of them pitched a fit about clones, and things devolved from there.”
The Clone Wars are going to be a wreck.
There’s an army missing!
Sheev running around his office like: “Now, where did I put that”
He is furious because there's an army missing, his future apprentice is missing, his future apprentice has a stable support system
basically, his plan just collapses.
Obi-Wan starts to cry because oh thank the fucking force they’re alive but Anakin and the kids misinterpret it.
Anakin's just like "I'm sorry, I wasn't going to let them be hurt anymore! I wasn't going to let anything else happen to them!" Obi-Wan: "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!"

New Rexsoka fanfic idea: Pocahontas/Star Wars AU
Tumblr media
OK so.. The basic principle is, this story will follow the plot of Disney's Pocahontas (yes I am aware that this movie is very controversial these days, what with the racial stereotypes and blatant disregard for historical accuracy. However I shall always have a place in my heart for this movie and the joy it gave me as a child, plos no need to go for historical accuracy with star wars 😁) but while using the characters from star wars the clone wars. In this AU the native Americans will be the Jedi living in peace on the planet/system Dagobah. And the English vagina company will be the clones, who are being "led" by empor Palpatine, in search or gold and a place for the clones to settle. So basically the jedi never joined the Republic and chose to live a life of peace on a planet that had yet to be decovered by others. There for leaving the said Republic now empire, to consider them to be nothing but primative "Savages" as they know nothing of the jedi exsept for what the Chancellor/emperor (secret sith Lord) has told them. The clones are slightly more indifferent. They just want to find a planet they can settle down on, as the war they were made for is now over. But at the same time they to only know what the emperor has told them.
Character list:
Ahsoka as pocahontas
Rex as John Smith
Palpatine as governor Radcliffe
Anakin as Chief Powhatan
Obiwan Kanobi as Kekata
Yoda as grandmother willow 😂
Barise Offee as Nakoma
Lux Bonteri as kocoum
Tup as Thomas
Fives and Echo as Ben and Lon
Tarkin as Wiggins (cus he's a suck up and I want to humiliat him)
So the clones of coruscant are on an expedition to find gold, crystals and other pressures metals, and create a new clone settlement on the new found planet in the Dagobah system. A planet inhabited by the mysterious jedi. They are being led by the greedy emperor Palpatine. (we're gonna protend Palps does more than just sits in his swivel chair drumming his fingers together, while cackling maniacally) though most of the leading is deing done by the clone Captain Rex, who is exsited to explore the new world.
The jedi, who are currently being led by the chosen one Anakin Skywalker. (who with the help of his old master and adviser Obiwan Kanobi, manged to abolish the old ban on attachments) who is grieving for the death of his late wife Padme who died a year prior. All he has left of her, is his children, Luke, Leia and padawan Ahsoka Tano, who Padme and he considered as their first child.
As an alliance plan for their nabouring temple, Anakin wants to marry Ahsoka to the non force sensative son of the grandmaster of the said temple, Lux Bonteri. Ahsoka, who is a free spirited young woman, isn't so sure of the match. Lux had once been a good childhood friend of hers but since the death of his mother (who had been great friends with Padme) they had both grown apart and he had become far more serious and stoic than he once was. (I know this is a bit out of character for Lux, but in all honesty the only character that seemed to fit Kocoum character was Mace Windu, and that just didn't scene right to even surgest that Ahsoka marry Windu...soooo.....Sorry Windu)
As a gift Anakin give Ahsoka the necklace he had carved Padme when they had meet, saying it was Padme's dream to see Ahsoka wear it at her own wedding.
Ahsoka, still in two minds about this arrangement, goes to visit her Great great (bout 3-4 greats) grandmaster Yoda who lives as a hermit in the hollow of a willow tree. Telling him of her troubles. Together they meditate on it, and the Forse tells them something is come. Opon hearing this, Ahsoka climbs Yoda's tree and looks up at the sky, only to see ships coming down from the sky (it had been generations since anyone had come to or left the planet, so ahsoka has never seen a battle ship before)
Opon arriving on the new planet, the clones are ordered to start digging for treasure strait away. Captain Rex on the other hand choses to (scout the terrain) explore the new land.
Whilst exploring, Rex then comes across Ahsoka. At first he hides behind a water fall, ready to Shoot at the "savage" jedi before they can attack him, but is shocked to see a beautiful young Togrutan woman, insted of the deadly force welding witch that he had been exsepting. After a while of just staring at each other, Rex puts away his DCs and slowly trys to make his way towards her. Ahsoka on the other hand is having non of it and choses to run away from the strange hardskinned (she's refusing to his armour) man. At which point he gives chase, wanting to know more about, the strange jedi woman.
After a breaf differculty with the language barrier (the force helps them understand one another. I know, I never got that bit of the movie eather) and an unfortunate chose of words on Rex's part, that courses Ahsoka great offence on behalf of herself and her people, Ahsoka goes one to showing Rex the ways of the galaxy though the jedi's point of view.
Meanwhile, the other jedi after a deadly encounter with the clone army, are now even more weary off their arrival. After meditating with the council on this, Anakin choses to forbid anyone from going near the new settlement until they know more about the visiters. Calls upon the other jedi temples to lend aid should, the worst come to the worst.
Ahsoka and Rex continue to meet up in secret graduly developing feelings for each other. Ahsoka eventually introduces Rex to Yoda, who fermly believes them to be the key to developing peace between the jedi and the rest of the galaxy.
They chose to go to Ahsoka's master to talk about a peace treaty. Unfortunately unbeknownst to them they are being watched, by both Lux and Tup. When seeing Rex and Ahsoka kiss, Lux flys into a jealous rage and attacks Rex. Tup seeing the "jedi savage" attack his big bother rases his blaster and shots Lux dead. Horrified Rex tells Tup to run as the jedi come down on them, having heird the blaster shot. Thinking it was Rex who killed Lux, they tear him away from Ahsoka and take him away to Aniken, who sentences rex to death at dawn the next day, declering war on the clones.
Ahsoka's friend Barise, when seeing how upset Ahsoka was, manges to get ahsoka and rex time to say goodbye. Where they admit their feelings for each other.
Tup meanwhile, runs back to the other clones and tells them about the attack and how Rex was going to be killed if they didn't do something. Overhearing this, Palpatine choses this moment to rally the men into, marching on the jedi. (just as he had been planing all along)
Ahsoka goes to Yoda in greaf. Not knowing what to do. With his help, she finds the strength to run and try and stop the fighting.
The jedi drag Rex up onto a stone atop of a cliff, preparing him for exicution. And the clones march towards them to attack. Anakin rases his lightsaber ready to bring it down on Rex's head, only to stop midway when Ahsoka charges forth and throws herself on Rex, shielding him from harm. Ahsoka tells her master if he wants to kill Rex, he'll have to kill her too. Gives a heartfelt speach about peace and understanding. When seeing the love she had for the clone in her eyes, love that he had once seen in Padme's eyes for him, this moves Aniken to release Rex, stating that if there was to be more killing it would not start with the jedi.
Palpatine trys to rally the clones to attack, but after see what the jedi girl did to protect their bother, they refuse. Outraged, the emperor force pushes the clones aside, leaps onto to cliff, pulls out his own blood red saber and goes to stab Anakin in the back with it. But Rex seeing this come, pushed Aniken out of the way, getting stabbed in the side him self.
With the combined force of both the clones and the jedi, they kill Palpatine, riding the galaxy of the last known sith lord. Rex now fatality injured now lying in the arms of his jedi, surrounded by brothers, he trys to say goodbye, but fall short when, darkens overtakes him.
Ahsoka refusing to exsept this, uses to the Forse to heal him. Aniken and Obiwan try talking her out of it, saying she would die if she didn't stop, but she refuses, saying she'd rather die than live without him. She falls unconscious as rex wakes up. Upon seeing what she had done for him, Rex holds Ahsoka, beging her not to leave him. Obiwan tells him he needs to take her to the temple to bask in the force for her to survive. He cares her all the way there, refusing to let anyone else take her form him. He lays with her in the temple, whilst the other jedi, pray to the force to revive her. And as they do this, the clone army, position themselves on guard outside the temple, ready to diffend it if need be.
Ahsoka eventually wakes up, much the the relief of her family and celebrations of the clones. Both she and Rex are married that same day, and the clones are all welcomed as family. This was now their home for as long as they wanted it.
So what do you guys think, would this be a fanfiction you'd want to read, or should I just leave it at this? Let me know. And if you have any ideas let me know xxxxxx

Anakin Everlasting
read on ao3 here
wowww look at me, posting writing two days in a row... here’s to being productive
again, blame discord. those amazing angst-lovers keep inspiring me to write and make everyone sad.
hope you enjoy!
p.s. pretty sure it's a thing that jedi live a lot longer than average people, usually over 100 years. so that's why that's in there.
***
Anakin wandered throughout the temple. Not the Coruscant one, as you might think- no, he was on Yavin IV now. Years ago, the Jedi had decided to expand and, seeing as there was an unused temple on a lush planet, a planet that was strong in the Force- it was perfect for a new branch of the Order.
He stared out at the greenery, so different from what he had been used to. Even though he came to this place almost 100 years ago, Anakin couldn't find himself getting fully adjusted to the new environment.
Anakin was now surrounded by greens, blues, and browns, so different from the golds and tans he was used to. Those colors represented everything he loved, everything he'd lost, and that which he could not bear to see taken from him. That was why, even if it was a bit uncomfortable, Anakin had moved to Yavin IV. He has lost so much- and Anakin had never been good with loss.
Yes, time heals all wounds, and of course he'd spent time meditating with Yoda, learning how to let go; Yoda was the only one who could even begin to understand Anakin's plight. Despite that, however, he still found his heart aching when he thought of his friends, his family, and how they had left him.
Padmé had been the first to go. She lived to be 97, and Anakin never stopped loving her. As she got older, Padmé had insisted on Anakin moving on, finding a younger person who could keep up with him, now that she was too frail to even leave the apartment most days. He knew she'd be gone soon, so he promised he'd try to find someone.
It was the only promise he'd ever broken.
"I don't want you to mourn the moment you spent with me for an eternity," She had told him.
Anakin, tears in his eyes, whispered back, "You are my eternity, Angel."
That, even 1000 years later, was still true. He loved her, as many others in the galaxy had loved someone; fiercely, eternally, even if she was dead. Anakin and Padmé had a love that would always be real, be true, as long as he kept her memory alive as he traveled across the stars.
Anakin cried for days when Ahsoka died.
His first and dearest Padawan lived to be 117, and she had been feisty until the very end (only Leia had been able to keep up with Ahsoka in that regard- oh, Force, Leia-)
When she left, laying in her bed with soft condolences and gentle teases and whispers of "Don't forget me, Skyguy," Anakin had thought that would break him, as he held her now-limp hand.
Obi-Wan was worse. Obi-Wan, the oldest family member he had left, had been gone for a long time. His brother had lived to be around 124 (or maybe not, Anakin seemed to be getting worse at keeping track of time the longer his life went on). Obi-Wan had lived a long life, a happy life; and when his time came, he learned enough of the Force that he could still visit Anakin, sometimes.
Every once and awhile, the two could talk (it used to be always, back when Obi lived- but Anakin would be the only one who would get an always). But it wasn't the same. Not even close.
He'd never admit it, but Anakin cried for over a week when Obi-Wan faded away. At that time, he was sure he would shatter; If Padmé hadn't broken him, if Ahsoka hadn't, surely his older brother would.
Obi's death had to be the worst, he was positive.
He was so, so wrong.
Nothing could compare to the pure heartbreak that came with the death of his children.
Luke, who was bright like sunshine and serene like water- and Leia, who was pure fire and somehow engulfed everyone she met. They were the brightest parts of Anakin's life, both in the Force and not. They were the best parts of him and Padmé, and he loved them so incredibly much. And, being twins, Luke and Leia spent almost every moment together since their birth. Throughout their lives, it was rare to see one without the other, for nobody was as closely intertwined as they; save for Anakin and Obi-Wan.
So, when Death came for his children, Anakin had to watch as they left together (there was no other way they could go). He'd had them for an amazing 156 years, years he would forever cherish.
Now he didn't have anyone. But somehow, he was still whole. He hadn't broken then, and he hadn't broken when his later Padawans had died (death was hard for Anakin to think about. Even though he somewhat feared it, he also wanted it, if it meant he could see his dearest ones again). But Anakin knew Death would never claim him, so he made the most out of his eternal life (but it was a half-life, for what is a life without love?)
He took other Padawans, trained other students and treated them as his own. Though he knew it was a bad idea, as nobody could stay forever, they became his family. Just as Ahsoka once had, when she'd stepped out of a shuttle on Christophsis.
Anakin also found he was good at storytelling. Every night, he made his way to the Crèche and regaled the younglings with his stories. The now-legends of a beautiful queen, a wise Jedi Master, a snarky Togruta (who had become a Master in her own right), an exasperated clone captain; and later the stories of a brave young man and his fiery twin sister, the smuggler she fell in love with, and how through it all were two droids who were the best of friends.
He told the next generations about their adventures, how they found joy while fighting a war, and he told them of how they had managed to discover and overthrow the Sith. He taught them how to find the Light, find love, even when hope seems lost.
The younglings loved the stories, ate them up until Anakin had no more, so he'd retell them again. He told them to the children, to the Padawans, to the Knights, and even the Masters (even if they were old, most had grown up hearing of Anakin's adventures). His only rule for those who heard the tales? Pass them on, so the memories stay alive.
He taught them a truth he had discovered: Nobody is ever really gone, as long as you keep on telling their stories.
Anakin forever would.
He made his way to a special room he had reserved for himself in the Temple, for as Grandmaster (now that Yoda was gone, Anakin had become the Grandmaster. Yoda's death, of all people... that had hit Anakin harder than he'd thought it would. When someone who seems to be forever dies, said death is shocking) he could do such things.
When he entered, he looked around the room. He surveyed the pictures and trinkets that lay there, waiting for him.
By Padmé's picture, there was the old Japor snippet necklace- along with a small flimsi paper flower he'd once made for her, onboard a Star Destroyer while thinking of how he missed her.
Beside Obi-Wan's, there was a lightsaber that hummed. It seemed to have a mind of its own now, and the buzzing got louder as Anakin approached- or rather, his own blade did. Just as their users were connected, these lightsabers were as well. There was also a small holo of Anakin and Obi-Wan on Cato Nemoidia, just after that "business" that Obi-Wan always said "didn't count". In the picture, Padawan Anakin is grinning widely, arm slung around a very disgruntled Obi-Wan's shoulders.
Next to Ahsoka's lay her two lightsabers and the golden headdress she'd worn since she was young. Anakin remembers how he'd gently lifted it off her head at the funeral, for if he couldn't keep his sister, his beloved Padawan, then he would keep this small part of her.
Alongside Luke and Leia's (their pictures were one and the same, since they almost never did something without the other) there were their own 'sabers and two drawings the twins made when they were toddlers. If Anakin remembered correctly (as time went on, he found it harder and harder to look at such things) the pictures depicted their family- which of course included Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, Rex, R2 and 3PO.
The two droids had been shut down long ago, finally going out of use just after Padmé's death.
The room housed other pictures, which showed the rest of Anakin's Padawans- including Ahsoka, there were six in total; But even though he kept all their lightsabers, he only had trinkets for two of them.
Uchani, who had been his second Padawan about 40 years after Ahsoka died, had been a quiet but strong Zeltron. She was a calm person, but there was spunk in her that rivaled Leia's. Uchani was amazing at calming Anakin down when he was angry, the gentle waves of her Force presence dousing out the embers in his. She had become his little sister as well.
Then there was Myn. A young Tholothian, Myn was brave and outspoken, and him and Anakin fit well together. He was the sixth student Anakin had taken, and though he loved all his students, Anakin remembered Myn vividly.
In all his eternal years, Anakin had not been prepared for seeing his Padawan die young. In battle, no less.
Myn was slain by a Darksider in the catacombs of Akiva. Anakin had been too late, moments too late; after cutting down the enemy, he watched as Myn's life dwindled.
Knowing Anakin well after ten years of training, Myn had wheezed, "Don't- Don't do anything- anything reckless, Master."
Anakin refused to look at the wound on his apprentice's stomach. "Myn, we need to get you to a healer-"
"Master- Anakin-" Myn coughed, and Anakin felt the tears in his eyes overflow and run down his face.
"No, please, not you too," Anakin said, but he already knew what the outcome would be.
"It'll be okay, Anakin," Myn murmered, and then he was gone, just like all the others.
Anakin shook off the memory of his last Padawan, and he sat down in the middle of the room. Rex's helmet (Rex, who had lived to be 105 once the accelerated aging was healed, had never stopped standing up for what was right. When his body failed him, he switched to words, fighting until the end. Anakin missed his twin so much), which Anakin had kept in as good condition as possible, stared back at him as he told his family of his day.
When he finished, he felt a presence behind him, and wasn't surprised to see the faint blue glow of Obi-Wan's ghost.
"It sounds like you had a good day, Anakin."
"I did," He said back happily. "But it's not over yet. I'm about to go see the younglings- care to join me, Master?"
Obi-Wan smiled softly. "I'd be delighted, Padawan mine."

What if....
Ahsoka decided to stay with the Order?
What if she looked at Anakin? Looked at her Master, the one who raised her and taught her, the one who told her what she needed to know and prepared her how he could. Looked at the one who she would die for in an instant, who she never wanted to leave. The one who battled tirelessly to save her, who she knew, despite the Jedi way, despite all the time he’d spent as a Knight, was attached to her.
What if she looked at him, as he held out his hand, hopeful, and decided she would do as he had done for her? She would be attached, but learn to be powerful enough to not fail. What if she took his hand, and stayed, not with the Order, but with Anakin?
Anakin is overjoyed, but also worried. He doesn’t know how being betrayed will affect her, how being hunted by clones will change her dynamic while fighting. So he decides to leave immediately to ‘scout’. A different yet familiar setting should help, and they’ll avoid actually battling for at least a little while.
They get on the ship, and Ahsoka sticks close to her Master. The clones are cautious. They all heard the stories and rumors, and also heard the accomplishments of the Commander. Wrongfully accused, wrongfully convicted, and still loyal, still strong. Her life, dedicated to helping others.
Ahsoka is fine, if a little quiet. She participates sparingly in the take-off briefings, and she’s absolutely silent when Anakin informs the Council of his entire plan.
Then Anakin sends her off to rest, so she can fully recover. He drops her off at her quarters, gives her the next day off. The night passes as it used to.
Then the clones comm Anakin in a panic. They say there’s something wrong with Ahsoka. “Come to the cafeteria! Quickly, general!” Rex’s voice is barely audible over the distressed shouts of his fellow soldiers. Anakin rushes over. He’s scared, scared that something has happened to the Padawan he only just got back.
He gets to the cafeteria to find all the clones outside a locked door. The key pad has lightsaber cuts on it, slashed the exact way he taught Ahsoka to do when she didn’t want anyone inside. Rex says that they were all heading to breakfast as scheduled, and Ahsoka was already inside. She seemed fine, but when she saw the clones, she freaked out. She started pushing the tables at them, blocking their way inside and forcing them out. She came closer only to slash the doors before jumping back.
Anakin tells them to go about their days as usual. They’ll have to skip breakfast for now, until Ahsoka is okay. All but Rex leave. Anakin accepts that. It takes a half hour to get inside, opening the door without the keypad and deciding against just cutting a hole through. Every table is piled haphazardly in the way, nearly falling on the duo.
Anakin moves them with the Force. Carefully but not gently. At this point, he can hear crying. He becomes less careful. It takes an extra ten minutes.
The moment he can, Anakin sprints into the cafeteria. It takes him two seconds to spot his Padawan.
She’s in the corner, curled as tight as can be, sobbing. She doesn’t react to the presence of her Master, but the moment she sees Rex, she wails, pressing further and further into the walls. Anakin motions for Rex to stand down, and the clone moves as far back as he can without losing sight of his friend.
Ahsoka lets Anakin walk over, eyes trained on the white behind him. She only looks away when hands start to gently pull her up, pull her in. She doesn’t fight, hiding in the safety of her Master.
“What’s wrong, Snips? What happened?’ She doesn’t respond right away, but there’s no rush here. When she answers, her words are broken, strained.
“I- I was- was back there, and I cou- couldn’t let them get me, but there were so- so many.” Anakin tugs her closer. His heart that had only begun healing from the recent events was breaking all over again.
“You aren’t, Snips, okay? I won’t let that happen again. As long as I’m around, you’ll be okay.”
Ahsoka takes a long time to calm down. It’s a good thing nothing was planned for this day. Rex stays back the entire time, thinking about the pain his sister-in-arms had been brought because he and his brothers refused to disobey orders. He wouldn’t do it again, he promised himself. He wouldn’t let anything like it happen again.
Anakin spends the day comforting Ahsoka. He asks her if she can stay in her quarters that night. She says she’ll be fine, but that’s their personal code for “I’ll push through it.” He lets her stay with him that night, taking the mattress from her room so she can have a bed.
Midnight comes, and Anakin wakes up suddenly. It isn’t a threat, so he stays still.
A smaller hand reaches up to grab his. It squeezes. He squeezes back.
The next day, Anakin never leaves Ahsoka’s side. Even when they have to, he waits for her, never letting her remain alone. The clones keep a bit back, the word having been spread about the Togruta’s fear. They don’t want her to be scared, not when she asks them for honest opinions, speaks to them like she does anyone else, knows each one of them by name and can tell them apart even when they’re wearing the same armor with no characterization.
The next night, Anakin learns about Ahsoka’s nightmares. She sits up, fast, and she’s crying again. He hugs her, whispering that he’s there, that she’s not in danger. They fall asleep like that, the Master and the Padawan, holding onto each other like they’d always done.
A month passes of the same routine. Ahsoka sticks close to her Master, and sleeps on the floor next to him at night. When the darkness gets too much, she grabs his hand, anchors herself with his presence. When the nightmares come, they wake up in the morning as if they hadn’t fallen asleep hugging. The clones gradually get closer, until it’s almost like normal. They’re lucky there haven’t been any battles.
Then the battle does come. They go up against an all-droid ship, and the droids manage to board. Ahsoka gets separated from Anakin, but they’re in the middle of a fight, there’s no time to find him, no time to panic. So Ahsoka goes to the next best comfort: the Force.
It takes all of two minutes to take down the remaining droids in that area. The clones are standing back in shock. In the moment she gave in to the Force’s power, she became a blur. Her mind was no longer filled with the memories of the very men she fought with turning on her. Instead, it was filled with thoughts of how each one had dedicated their lives to the cause, how every last one of the soldiers were literally born and raised for battle. So many had died thinking their sacrifice was worthless, unimportant. So many had died, period. Ahsoka would not let that number grow if she could help it.
With the Force guiding her every move, more powerful now that it was her second companion, she's ten times as strong. Without waiting for the clones to catch up, she rushes through the ship, taking down droids by the dozens.
Every last boarder is destroyed, with minimal casualties. The enemy ship blows up and they make it safely away. Anakin is glad when Ahsoka reaches him, perfectly fine. She’s still wary of the clones, but she can feel their good, their light.
The day after she tries again to let the Force guide her. She’s sitting near Anakin as he fixes a fighter ship. There are clones all around her. She feels the light once again.
Then she feels something else. A little switch in the minds of all the soldiers, one that will change that light to darkness in a heartbeat.
She tells her Master what she felt that night, just before they rest. He says they can tell the Chancellor tomorrow.
The holograph forms of Palpatine. Ahsoka slams her fist down to shut it off.
“What was that‽”
“He isn’t good.”
“What do you mean he isn’t good?”
“I.. don’t know. I saw him, and I just felt so much darkness. He isn’t good, Master.” Anakin accepts the answer for the moment. Then he calls Obi-Wan. The two relay their message about the clones. Obi-Wan promises to look into it. Ahsoka speaks up quickly, much more confidently than before.
“Don’t tell anyone but the Council. Please.”
Obi-Wan agrees.
The days keep passing. The nightmares are more frequent, if less painful. Ahsoka no longer sleeps on the ground. Anakin won’t let his little sister be in so much pain for nothing. The nightmares are better like that.
The clones get closer to their commander. They drop ‘hints’ about how they see her.
“Commander Tano is one of the best people I’ve worked under, hands down.”
“What about the general?”
“Listen, I’d die for either in a heartbeat, but if you forced me to choose, I’d pick Ahsoka every time.”
Ahsoka was sitting a table away in the cafeteria. Anakin smiled at her then, though it was more of a smirk.
“She’s basically one of us at this point.”
“I know. We might as well call her sister.”
Rex was walking into a briefing. Ahsoka hid her face in Anakin’s arm, blushing bright orange at the words.
She lets the Force guide her constantly. Anakin follows her lead, and they both find that their attachment to one another actually helps. They’re bonded through the Force, and they grow stronger as they grow attached to one another. There is no way they’ll separate anytime soon.
Ahsoka can temporarily leave her Master’s side. It takes a lot of courage, and Rex usually has to be nearby, but she pushes away her doubts.
One day, she’s walking with Rex, trying to see how long she can go before her fear grows too large. She still feels that switch, and she hates it. Hates that her friend could become evil in a second and she can’t even tell why. So she reaches towards it. Maybe she can get it stuck on the light side, or something of the sort.
Rex freezes when he feels it. The little voice in his head, the very reason he followed orders he hated, the reason he listened to Krell at all, suddenly disappeared.
Ahsoka didn’t mean to destroy the switch, but she was happy that it happened. The switch was meant for dark, and so the light destroyed it.
Rex looks at Ahsoka, who’s grinning that sharp-toothed grin at him. He’s glad the voice is gone, but he also wants to know what she did. He doesn’t want people messing with his mind unannounced.
“What did you do?”
“I got rid of the switch!” It doesn’t immediately occur to her that Rex doesn’t know about the switch. If every clone has it, then surely they know about it and simply didn’t know the use.
“What switch?”
“The one that was gonna turn you bad. Luckily I felt it after that big battle we had against those droids. Master Obi-Wan’s looking into it, but I wanted to see what I could do myself. I only meant to keep it from working. Apparently, I can get rid of it.”
Rex is still confused, but he’ll ask General Skywalker later. Instead, he grabs a passing soldier’s arm, pulling him into the conversation.
“Does he have one?”
“Yeah! Every clone has one!”
“Can you get rid of it?”
There’s a pause as Ahsoka’s eyes close, then the trooper stiffens. He was highly bemused, even more so now, but he can feel the difference. The constant need to follow orders now seems more like a choice.
Rex and Pint take Ahsoka throughout the entire ship, randomly dragging their brothers towards the Togruta and waiting for her to destroy their switches. Anakin finds them later, having gotten an update from Rex that the Padawan was fine. He’s happy for his men, and for Ahsoka. An hour into their crusade and the clones are coming to the trio, gathering to see what’s going on with only the assurance from their comrades that it’ll be worth it. It is.
Ahsoka doesn’t feel the need to find Anakin that day at any point. She’s ecstatic that she could help the troopers. Rex is glad his family is no longer faced with that voice compelling them. At least not on this ship. Not anymore. He tells her the thought running through each of their heads in replacement of that switch.
“Thank you, sister.”
Anakin almost completely panics on finding a crying Ahsoka, but she says they’re happy tears. Happy tears.
A quick visit from Master Windu is all it takes to undo so much work.
Ahsoka is silent as he visits. Windu asks how she’s recovering. She nods and moves behind Anakin just a little.
The clones notice the change in their sister. She tries to feel their light as she’s been doing for a while now, but the memories of that time, of when she thought no one cared anymore, no one but Anakin, they shove themselves into her heart, undoing the stitches that hold her together.
Windu only came for an update and a small resupply. He leaves within a day. It’s still too late.
Anakin starts thinking it all over that night, while he’s holding Ahsoka close and attempting to ward off her nightmares. Why would his Snips stay if she had so much pain associated with the Order?
He comes to the conclusion just before they have to get up. She stayed for him. If anyone else had asked, she would’ve left. She’d latched onto him for a reason, and they’d both helped each other recover.
If she was willing to stay for him, he’d leave for her.
He forms his plan mentally as he walks with Ahsoka to do their rounds. He’ll prepare a ship, stock it enough they can make it to a more neutral planet. He’ll leave a message for Rex to let him know what had happened. Then Anakin would breach the topic with Ahsoka and convince her that he was okay leaving. She probably wouldn’t mind never having to see the Council again.
It takes a week before Ahsoka can leave her Master’s side again. Rex is by her side as she leaves, but he glances back at his general in suspicion. The man had been acting weird.
Anakin records his message and leaves it on his desk. He goes to the hangar and starts prepping a ship. The clones ask what he’s doing and he brushes them off with a vague excuse. After all, he has a lot of work to do.
He goes to sleep knowing there’s very little work left to be done. Soon, he can help Ahsoka leave behind what has hurt her so much.
He doesn’t notice his message to Rex is gone.
Anakin sends his Padawan off with Pint and Fives before he goes to finish his preparations. None of the clones question him this time, but they seem to look at him in mild amusement. He wonders why...
... until he enters the ship to find it completely empty of the supplies he’d stocked.
He’s confused. It’s not like the clones to play a prank, at least not one like this. A throat is cleared behind him. He turns sharply to find Rex standing in the entrance.
“Uh, Rex. I thought you’d be on the bridge.” Rex doesn’t speak. He instead opens his palm to reveal a holodisk. Anakin’s message plays before their eyes. The Jedi says nothing, shocked that he hadn’t noticed the missing disk and nervous about his commander’s reaction. They both stand in silence for some time, until Rex finally breaks it.
“She’s our sister, and you’re our brother. She gave us freedom. We’ll use it to help you get yours.”
When the general and the commander walk off with smiles on their faces, the surrounding clones cheer. They’d all had to talk it over, and the agreement had been unanimous.
Ahsoka is briefed on what’s happening. She’s concerned, uncertain, and takes her time to think. She eventually agrees. With everything considered, it will be better.
They reprogram the ship, No one will be able to track them easily. Anakin, Ahsoka, and Rex plan. They’ll go to an uninhabited planet. They’ll land the ship and start building. If they can grow or craft things to sell, money won’t be a problem.
Ahsoka reminds them that the loss of the ship and its entire crew will lead to the Republic suffering in the war. Rex suggests helping discreetly. Anakin suggests something a bit more... radical.
They have skill on their side. If Ahsoka and Anakin can make their way to different Separatist planets, then maybe the duo can find evidence of the Separatists’ more nefarious deeds that were kept hidden. Seeing that they were lied to could cause some of the planets to turn to the Republic or neutrality, thus aiding in the war.
They begin their journey, taking the more obscure and isolated routes. All calls to the ship were blocked, and there was a team of clones assigned to making sure they weren’t tracked. Ahsoka declared she would teach some of her brothers the finer points of engineering and tech. Anakin declared that she would not, but he would. Instead, she could help them learn to craft some things, or study subjects outside of their war training.
They soon find that some clones are incredibly talented at art, and others at engineering. Rex understands physics better than any of his brothers, and Six-Piece ends up having to be dragged away from his agriculture books just to eat. The clones better at building make a forge out of the incinerator, and some of the others practice smithing. And when that goes wrong, a medical droid starts teaching a small group how to heal small wounds (and not-so-small wounds).
Some clones find that they really are made for fighting. So Ahsoka helps teach them to fight with swords and staffs and knives and every weapon they have onboard.
It takes two months to get to their final destination. A planet void of any sentient species, but with plenty of edible flora and fauna. They land the ship in a wide open space, and the real work begins.
They spend the first few days drawing up plans and unloading what they can. A few dozen clones begin to gather lumber and clear land for buildings. The next few days, those dozen are joined by more, and supplies are organized. They build a storehouse first, basically just a huge room. It will hold whatever they collect for now.
Six-Piece leads some of his brothers in clearing more land for farming. Pint starts collecting seeds. Fives draws blueprints for different tools and crafts. Ahsoka and Echo disappear for several hours one day and return with canine creatures of a scaly nature. Anakin nearly has a heart attack at the sight of the green and purple scaled animals following his Padawan. Rex almost entered a similar state, but managed to avoid it by scolding the two.
The canines were kept, and Echo and Ahsoka started training them to guard against threats and help out on the construction sites.
Within the first month, they have several rows of edible flora sown. The storehouse is built and filled with lumber. They begin reinforcing it. The ship is restructured and reorganized. The forge is upgraded the best they can, and the hangar is converted into an enormous workshop. Fighters are moved around to accommodate the new order, and several clones begin setting up work areas and tables.
They begin separating. Anakin realizes that they’ll need more rations if they want to last long on the planet. He sends some of the men to gather food and some to cultivate the land further. Then he finds the clones that seemed only meant for battle. He tells them to hunt.
They take the canines, begin training them for the trips. There’s plenty of animals to track, and plenty more that seem trainable, if only in the future. They report back with plenty of meat and a list of the more docile creatures. Who knows, maybe they can domesticate them like the canines.
The men start building more rooms to the storehouse, so that they can put the supplies in separate areas. Tools begin to be stored, the food as well. Fuel goes next, and Rex starts making cranes with his new knowledge of physics and Pint’s knowledge of engineering.
Ahsoka helps make the workshop, using the Force to lift the heavier items. Her and Anakin compile everything that isn’t necessary and doesn’t have much value to the group. They load what they can onto a transport and head for the nearest outpost. Out where they are, there are four near enough, and each is neutral.
They sell their wares. It seems what isn’t valuable to them fetches high prices at the market. They use the money to buy tools and rations, along with several books for the clones to read and some textiles. They leave quickly, not wanting to be noticed.
Clothes are made with the textiles, mostly for Ahsoka and Anakin since they’ll be going off-world the most. But some of the clones discard their armor for cloth, and some repurpose the armor for the canines.
Ahsoka names the canines Flurrians. She thinks it sounds cool. Anakin doesn’t bother arguing.
The crops grow faster than expected. The clones are ecstatic to have so much to do and it isn’t fighting.
A few find strange rocks. They crack easily with the new pickaxes their brothers fashioned from spare parts. The smiths melt them to make nuts and bolts and screws and tools and buttons and all sorts of small and large things to help. The builders finish making the storehouse, only to have to build more with all the new supplies coming in.
With the hunters bringing back animals (some simply captured so they can be domesticated), a few clones learn to clean and tan the hides. Some learn to cure the meat. Some begin teaching themselves to cook, and some to sew.
The smiths work together with their new metals to forge Anakin a mask. It looks like that of the notorious Boba Fett, but simpler and softer in the features, painted blue and grey and white. They make a little headpiece for Ahsoka, to wrap around her montrals.
Ahsoka discovers she can see around her with the Force. Anakin can as well, but he doesn’t find the need to use it often. His Padawan trains herself to connect with that sight constantly. She finds her montrals capture more sound, more waves that give her a clearer view of things nearby. Both the Force and her natural ability give her a boost.
A boost that leads to several complaints and near heart failures.
Apparently, being able to ‘see’ so well makes her entirely silent while moving around, unless she’s purposefully making noise. More than a dozen times, Rex screamed at the sudden ‘appearance’ of his sister. Anakin didn’t think much of it until he had his own minor heart attack one day. He tells her to find a way to announce her presence before she gets too close. She does.
It starts with Leo giving her a small stone he found on the ground.
“It’s pretty,” he justified. “I thought of you.” She attached it to the headpiece with help from Pip.
Then Pint handed her a shell, and Echo a feather. Beads and pebbles and scraps of metal, all handed to her because they were shiny or colorful. She slowly began to accumulate long chains of the items. The weight didn’t bother her as she gradually gained more and more prizes. Then one day, Ahsoka looked in the mirror and saw a young Togruta with a beautiful headpiece and montrals and head-tails covered in strings of trinkets. She looked eccentric, but also free.
She finds Six-Piece and he helps her make paint. She uses blue to highlight her face markings, brightening her appearance further. She’s happy.
Rex and some of the others make more paint. They decorate their buildings in colorful pictures and draw on each other’s faces. Ahsoka nearly cried when she saw Rex with paint matching her markings.
Anakin wears his helmet on trips or at night. He puts it on his belt otherwise. He makes retractable staffs that include his and Ahsoka’s lightsabers in the handles. Ahsoka’s can be separated, but is better as a staff when used as one. They would allow the blades to be carried with them, but not noticed.
As they expanded and learned how best to utilize the land, the large group gained a surplus.
“We’re going to have to sell these,” Anakin announced one day, standing in the storehouse that was packed.
“And we still have to go after some of the Separatists,” his little sister reminded.
“You’ll need new names, otherwise there’ll be bounty hunters and troops crawling everywhere,” Echo added, petting his favorite Flurrian, Sil.
“How about Socks?” Anakin smirked at the glare sent his way, but felt pure dread when the look mimicked his own.
“How about Sky?”
“Sky and Socks, sounds good to me,” Rex commented as he walked by.
The two former Jedi attempted to protest.
Sky and Socks begin a routine that becomes well-known to those who meet them. Each of the four outposts are visited at different times. The duo sells their crafts and supplies each time, and always use their money to buy more tools and more materials and more books.
And their wares are always incredibly valuable. Plants that can be used to make fuel, food that can’t be found anywhere else, metals that are so rare some don’t believe in their existence. It seems that the siblings (for that is what they are, as they assured their customers) didn’t know their items were worth so much. They start coming every month to at least one outpost, with the fact that they now know that one of the plants they grow is a highly efficient fuel and they won’t have to buy some for every trip.
Ahsoka often listens to the gossiping beings around her as her brother handles customers. She gains information on nearby planets and the frequent visitors. There are many criminals and bounty hunters around.
The first planet to turn is small. A mysterious pair of beings are said to have broken into the governor’s mansion and found evidence of his misdeeds. They sent it to the entire planet. The Separatists had been separating families and quietly getting rid of the governor’s opponents. The Republic gained a new ally.
Anakin and Ahsoka kept up their work. All planets they could reach quickly, they went and managed to convert to the Republic or to neutrality. Usually, it was to the Republic after the Separatists were proven to be traitorous. Some turned without evidence after hearing tales of what had happened elsewhere.
Sky and Socks always made it back home.
They made their own small civilization, with a farm and stables and workshops and storehouses and barracks.
Sometimes, Sky and Socks came across clones while traveling. The switches were destroyed, and the clones always agreed to go back with the two, even though they never offered, only explained what had happened to Rex Chief and his brothers.
Asajj Ventress came across them at an outpost while they headed back from a newly-aligned Republic planet.
Ahsoka hugs her, much more energetic with all the freedom and light she’s had. She gushes about the many good things that have happened to her since those dreadful days.
Ventress joins them. It takes less than a week before Ahsoka calls her sister. It takes a month before Witch joins Socks and Sky, dressed in a blue and black version of the Nightsisters garb.
Word gets around about the Clone Snatchers and Separatist Traitors.
The Clone Snatchers steal clones from battles, without any signs of struggle. The Separatist Traitors turn Separatist-aligned planets to the Republic.
There are bounties for both in both alliances. Both are wanted alive by the Republic, the Clone Snatchers so they can get their missing soldiers back and the Separatist Traitors so they can meet and possibly join forces. The Separatists want the Traitors dead or alive, preferably dead, and the Snatchers alive so that they can... ally themselves.
After only a month of radio silence from Anakin and his ship, before they established themselves so well, Padme heard the news. All that was known was that the Separatists had nothing to do with the disappearance. The senator was not pleased, and proceeded to call her husband as quickly as possible.
He picked up on the second ring, despite Obi-Wan never managing to get a call through.
“Padme, are you alright?” Anakin is calm, collected. Not at all troubled, it seems.
“Where are you?” the woman demands.
“Um... on our way to an uninhabited planet that we can land on and then live there.”
“Without me?”
“... Do you wanna know the coordinates? I kinda had to deal with changing alignment and reorganizing and reprogramming everything, and I sorta assumed you’d want to remain a senator?”
“Of course I’m going to remain a senator, but I’m still going to visit my husband.”
“HUSBAND‽ Rex, did you hear‽ Anakin and Padme are married! I’ve got a sister! Rex!”
“Is Ahsoka listening?”
“Yeah, she wanted to know why I would answer a call when we’re on radio silence.”
“So, why the change? I thought being a Jedi was everything to you.”
“No. The people I care about are everything to me. Ahsoka wasn’t going to be able to recover while constantly around the Order. Our marriage went against the code. The clones were always dying for what felt like no good reason. It makes sense to get away from what causes so much pain.”
“I understand. I’ll visit as soon as possible.”
“I call you when we land.”

Welcome Home - Anakin x fem Reader (smut)
Summary: As requested by anon, “Anakin coming home a Jedi Knight, so his braid is gone but his hair is still short, and then they both go all the way all night long.”
Masterlist
Read it on ao3
WC: 2.4k
Warning: um. sex. (and some voyeurism?)
Tumblr media
Anakin had been gone for months. While you were busy yourself with the Senate, you often lay awake at night wandering where in the big wide galaxy your Jedi lover was.
When he left, he had just cut his Padawan braid. He had joked about his head feeling off-balance now, but you could see the pride gleaming in his eyes. He was a Knight now, fast-tracked into the real world of the Jedi because of the war.
You worried about it. Transitioning from a Padawan to a General so fast… it must have been hard for Anakin, even though he never showed it over your occasional hologram calls. You remembered the first time you saw a holo-video of Anakin, a Jedi reporting back to the council on the affairs of the war. You just so happened to overhear his name and stopped in to listen.
He had an army. And you had watched him go charging headfirst into a battalion of droids, blaster shots shooting in every direction, leading thousands of clones into enemy fire. He was young, too young to be a soldier. But, so far, he had yet to come out with a loss.
“The Hero with No Fear,” they had been calling him. You had even seen his face spring up on a few posters, seen him advertised as propaganda on the holonet. He was quickly becoming famous across multiple star galaxies, not just as the Chosen One, but as a war hero. You wondered if he knew, and laughed to yourself when you imagined him boasting about it.
But months was far too long to sleep in a bed all alone. You had only just deepened your relationship with Anakin, and you yearned for his touch, dreamed about feeling his skin against yours once more--
There were rumors the 501st was coming back to Coruscant. You dismissed many rumors these days, as they were just people squeezing every drop of excitement they could out of the war. However, it couldn’t stop you from hoping as you made the bed up for yourself tonight, smoothing out the pillows and lingering a hand on Anakin’s side.
You wanted him home.
No matter how hard you wished, or how long you cried into your pillow, there was nothing you could do but wait and pray that Anakin was even alive to return to you. So here you were again, sniffling softly as your tears stained the sheets, shivering from the absence of the man you loved most.
You didn’t even hear the door open. Nor did you hear the call of your name the first time, or the second. You thought it was just your imagination, and you were going so out of your mind that you were even hallucinating his voice now. But no-- your bedroom door opened, and a tall silhouette stood in the frame, blocking the light. Tears dripped down your cheeks, the remnants of your sorrow, and they changed from disbelief to happiness.
“Y/n?” he spoke first. “What’s wrong?”
You ignored him, and instead launched yourself off the bed and into his chest. You slammed into him so hard the breath was knocked out of both of you, but you didn’t care. Your fingers grasped at the leather armor of his back, and you held on hard, fearing he wasn’t real.
“You’re here,” you cried.
“I’m here.”
He pet you hair for a while, allowing your heartbeat to settle and your tears to slow before gently maneuvering you over to the bed. You clung to him the entire way, refusing to even give him an inch to breathe.
When you felt like it was safe enough to let go without him disappearing, you pulled back and studied his face. There was that new scar he had told you about, the one from Ventress. It was newly healed, and slashed down his face in a reminder of how ugly war could get. But it was the same Anakin, the same blue eyes, the same sweet smile, the same broad shoulders. Except… one thing.
“Your hair is curly,” you remarked. Then laughed tearfully. “Your hair is curly.”
Anakin lifted an eyebrow and looked up at his bangs. “Yeah?”
“I didn’t know,” you toyed with the ringlets by the nape of his neck. Your gaze dropped to his lips, and that familiar yearning returned. You wanted so badly to feel them against yours, to coax that familiar spark back to life after having it lie dormant for so long.
“You can kiss me,” he said, and so you did. You closed that distance, pressing your lips firmly against his, tasting the salt of your tears on his pillowy softness. Even though you were not the one returning from a mission, it felt like coming home.
You enjoyed the longer hair he now had. It sifted through your fingers like silk, the curls tickling the back of your palms. Visions filled your mind, of his head between your legs, your fingers gripping his hair to keep him there; of him on top of you, sweaty bangs stuck to his forehead; of your back bowing off the bed in completion, fingers twisting into his curls as you came undone.
Anakin, of course, watched all of this play out in your mind.
“You like it that much?” he laughed against you, fingers sneaking down your sides.
You merely hummed against his lips, shutting him up with another hard kiss. It was hungry, frenzied. You needed him now as much as you needed to breathe.
“We can make that happen,” Anakin muttered again, lips sliding against yours wetly. He pulled at your nightdress, and you raised her arms so he could slip it off. The goosebumps left on your skin was chased away by Anakin’s wandering hands, one warm and one leather. You remembered a time when he had been too nervous to touch you with it, but now he was using it like he had been born with it. You bit his bottom lip approvingly, dragging it out between your teeth.
Anakin’s cheeks erupted in flame. He had never seen his soft, sweet lover to be so… feral. Every other time you’d made love, you had sat back and enjoyed the way he made you feel. Now, you seemed intent on dragging as much pleasure out of the both of you as you could, like wringing water out of a cloth, and he wasn’t used to seeing this filthy side of you.
But oh, was he about to indulge.
Pressing you back against the mattress, Anakin covered your breasts in his large hands, squeezing. His lips ventured downward, swollen and wet from your kissing. He wrapped them around your nubs, and you writhed underneath him. Every touch was golden, but you wanted more, you wanted everything. So you ripped your own panties off, and then got to work on Anakin’s belt.
He helped you remove the heavy thing, the lightsaber bouncing against the floor as he dropped it aside. Next came the armor, and the shirt underneath, and then he was left in just his pants and boots.
He pushed himself off of you for a moment in order to work on the clasps of his boots.
“Touch yourself for me,” he ordered, and you shivered at his commanding tone. It was new, and you imagined he used it while ordering his men around on the battlefield. The thought made slick pool between your thighs, and you reached a hand down like he had asked to spread it around.
His eyes darkened as he watched you, hastily ripping his boots off and then ridding himself of his pants. He palmed himself through his boxers as you dragged her fingers through your folds, circling your wetness around your clit. Wanting to put on a show for him, you closed your eyes and moaned softly, biting down on your lip. He released a low sound from his throat.
“Inside,” he nodded his head at you. His chest was moving up and down in rapid succession. It was clear he was enjoying this as much as you were.
You slowly trailed your fingers down, taking your time to feel yourself before you rubbed your fingertips over your entrance. Your hips bucked up on their own accord, catching the tips of your fingers and causing you to slide them in the rest of the way.
You moaned louder this time, and reached for Anakin’s hand.
“I want you,” you whined, moving his hand to your heat. “You touch me.”
He held himself over you with his mechanical arm by your head, and circled his flesh thumb over your clit as you fingered yourself. You sucked in a breath of air, the feeling of his hand on you so much better than anything your touch could bring yourself.
Before long, he was batting your hand out of the way and fully replacing it with his own. His fingers filled you up nicely, hitting just the right spots, making you twist and turn beneath him.
But you wanted more, wanted to see Anakin lose it just as much as you were. So you smoothed your hands down his torso-- much more defined, you were pleased to find, from the last time you had seen him-- and rubbed his stiff member through his boxers. He sighed, bowing his head so that his bangs were tickling your forehead.
“I just need you inside me already,” you decided, feeling that suffocating feeling from before, like if he wasn’t in you right now, you would drown.
Anakin rocked his fingers deep inside you, probing that spot that caused your legs to shake and vision to white out. Your momentum faltered, but you managed to quiet your sounds by biting your lip and pulled Anakin’s briefs down. His member stood upright, stiff and glistening with precum in the starlight. You gathered it in your palm, pumping him up and down as he did the same to you.
“Anakin,” you prompted again, wiggling your hips impatiently. He never was good at following orders. He gave you a punishing twist of his fingers, dragging a loud gasp out of you before he replaced his hand with the tip of his dick.
“For a Senator, you sure are short on patience,” Anakin teased. He rolled his hips forward, entering you in one fluid motion. You scraped your nails against the skin of his back and shifted your hips upward, seating him as far inside of you as possible.
Once he was all the way in, you breathed a sigh of relief. The ache from being stretched after so long felt heavenly. You swore that even if neither of you moved another inch the rest of the night, this would be enough for you. Just the feeling of him inside of you gave you all of the relief that you needed-- he was here, he was safe, and he was inside you.
“Y/n, can I move now?”
He was also impatient.
“For a Jedi, you sure have little restraint,” you threw his earlier words back at him, but smiled as you said this. You loved the blissed out look on his face, the pleasure hazing over his eyes. This was still a bit new to the both of you, and you thought you’d never tire of seeing him indulge himself so deeply, especially since he never was allowed to in every other aspect of his life.
With your permission, he began to rock in and out of you, setting a nice steady pace. Occasionally, you sent words of encouragement his way, smoothing the bangs out of his eyes and kissing his cheekbones as he surged forward. He decided that the fact that you still had the ability to speak meant that he wasn’t doing good enough.
“Turn around,” he pulled out of you suddenly.
“What?”
“Lay on your stomach.”
You and Anakin had only ever done it in one position before. Butterflies swarmed in your stomach at the thought of him taking you from behind, but you were more than happy to oblige. You settled onto your stomach, nestling your arms under a pillow and laying your head on them. You felt so lucky, so happy and warm and relaxed as Anakin nudged your thighs open a bit further, fitting your hips into the curves of his palms.
Then he slid into you, and immediately hit that spot, and you keened into the mattress.
“Oh,” you gasped, fists gripping hard onto the pillow. “That’s-- oh.”
Anakin stayed on that spot, aiming for it every time. He plunged into you over and over, rubbing up against that spot with each rock of his hips. Soon, you couldn’t tell the difference between the stars in the night sky outside, and the stars in your vision.
You convulsed around him in record time, walls clenching and muscles tensing up. You moaned long and low into the pillow, fingers going numb from holding onto it so tight. His hands tightened around your waist, fucking you through it, and chasing after his own high.
“Ani, I want to see you,” you pleaded once you could speak again, muscles still quivering with aftershocks. It seemed like it was extremely difficult for him to pull himself out of you when he needed you the most, but he managed, and you pushed him back onto the mattress. Your thighs fit around his hips, and you positioned him back inside your sensitive entrance, sinking down onto his length.
He exhaled shakily, eyes fluttering closed as you swirled your hips around, testing out yet another new position and loving how good of a view it gave you of Anakin. You smoothed your hands down his face, his neck, his chest, as you lifted herself up and then sat back down. His hands found your hips again, and he quickened the pace himself.
You leaned down again, and whispered more encouragement into his ear-- how much you loved him, how much you needed him, how good he made you feel. You tugged at the curls in his hair just as you had wished to do, sending sparks of ecstasy down Anakin’s spine. Soon, he was spilling inside of you, and you were kissing the vibrations his throat made as he voiced his pleasure.
Neither of you pulled away, and he stayed buried deep inside you even after he came down from his high. No, you were far from finished tonight. You hoped he had a day off from his duties tomorrow, as you were sure neither of you were going to get much sleep.

No Man Left Behind
Commander Cody x Reader (Star Wars)
A/N: Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, break is finally here and I’ve got some time on my hands to do some writing! (Also I suck at Star Wars lore and knowledge sorry!)
Masterlist
"I'm sorry, you want to leave?" (Y/n) practically yelled at General Kenobi. Shocked by his plan of retreat. The Republic was facing a heavy loss of soldiers and tech. (Y/n) knew retreating was the only way to stop more deaths from occurring, but the separatists had taken some clones alive as bait for the Jedi, Grievous was nothing if he wasn't cruel. He had taken Commander Cody and part of his squad, Boil, Waxer, and Trapper.
"If we stay any longer we risk losing more troops, we have to retreat. The council agrees." Obi-Wan attempted to reason with them. Except, while (Y/n) had a lightsaber and fought for the Republic, they did not consider themselves to be a Jedi, they didn't follow the Jedi Code and they also did not have to report to the Jedi Council.
"Leave me a ship." (Y/n) points at Kenobi and before he can attempt to reason with them anymore they've run out of the tent.
"Maker help me, they're going to get as all killed." He mumbled as he pinched the bridge of his nose. Taking a deep breath before complying with (Y/n)’s request.
*--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*
(Y/n) kept their lightsaber off and used the shadows to their advantage, they knew breaking in would be easier than getting out, but right now all they cared about was finding the boys. Their heart was pounding in their ears, thinking about what Grievous could be doing to Cody for information.
Quickly, (Y/n) pressed themselves to the back of a wall and listened to the droids for any clue on where they were being held.
"The Jedi are retreating, the General says to execute the prisoners as we finish fortifying the barrier, another victory for the Separatists." Their robotic voices filled the hallway. Taking a deep breath, (Y/n) stepped out in front of them, taking them by surprise. Before the droids could even react they held out their hand and through the force began to speak.
"There's an intruder on the third floor, go raise the alarm." The droids turned towards each other and started running the other way. They didn't have much time, hopefully the droids will cause enough chaos that they would have enough time to find Cody and the others and get out.
"General!" They heard a voice whisper, whipping around they saw Boil, Waxer, and Trapper in a cell.
"Boys!" They smiled, pulling out their lightsaber, the green light clashing with the red sparks from destroying the lock on the door. Quickly, (Y/n) looked each over and gave them a hug. "Listen, General Kenobi left behind a ship for us. Waxer, I'm sending you the coordinates you three get there quickly and I'll go find Cody."
"But sir-" Waxer started.
"If we're not there in half an hour, leave and regroup with Kenobi and Skywalker." (Y/n) clapped Waxer on the shoulder and gave him a confident smile as they continued to run down the hallway, expertly avoiding droids.
It didn't take long before (Y/n) could hear Cody deny his torturer any information about the Republic's plans. (Y/n) slowly peaked their head just far enough to see Grievous with two IG-100 Magna Guards. Cody had his eyes shut and his head hung low, he was breathing heavily. They had striped him of his armor leaving him in only his grays.
(Y/n) quickly moved their head and pressed themselves firmly to the wall. If they ran now there was no way they would get themselves and Cody out of here in time, but there was no way that (Y/n) could beat Grievous and two guards. For a moment they thought about distracting them long enough Cody could get away, but (Y/n) knew Cody would rather go down fighting then leaving them behind.
"Kriff." (Y/n) murmured, focusing they closed their eyes and felt their surroundings through the force. Cody was going in and out of consciousness, much to Grievous' displeasure. He needed medical attention stat and rushing in wasn't going to help the situation. Before (Y/n) could figure out anything else the whole base shook and an alarm went off. Through the comms they could hear a droid panicking.
"General, there's a ship outside that just hit our communication tower and-" Before the message could finish (Y/n) heard the sound of lightsabers crashing through the console. Remaining against the wall Grievous and his guards left Cody's cell and headed down the hallway, the alarms distracting them enough they didn't even bother looking their way.
Taking a deep breath, (Y/n) rushed into the room and immediately started working on the restraints. Knowing that the boys were buying them as much time as they could.
"(Y/n)?" Cody's voice sounded hoarse and confused. (Y/n) finished undoing the restraints and caught Cody before he collapsed on the ground.
"Come on Commander. Your team is waiting at the ship, we've got to go." (Y/n) threw his right arm around them and place their other arm around his waist, hoisting him up as much as possible.
"You…should go…" He murmured, (Y/n) ignored him and pulled him along towards where they had come in. "Leave me."
"Sorry, Commander. I'm a big believer in no man left behind." (Y/n) grunted, as they pulled both of them flush against the wall as a couple of droids ran by, no doubt heading to the control center. For a moment (Y/n) thanked the Maker that droids were idiots.
"(Y/n)…" He murmured trying to wrestle out of their grip.
"Cody, dammit! Stop making this more difficult than it has to be!" (Y/n) pulled him up, by leaning forward. He groaned. "Cody, listen to me. I am not leaving here. I stayed behind to get you and your team home. Now they're waiting for us and if we want them to get to safety too then we have to move." (Y/n) looked Cody directly into his eyes. He looked exhausted and so defeated. (Y/n) felt their heart break for a moment. "Come on, we make it out of here and I'll buy you some drinks from 79's, okay?" He let out a low chuckle that caused him to grimace in pain.
They both started moving, a little quicker now, but (Y/n) could tell he was struggling. (Y/n) could only hope that Waxer had the ship nearby and that the ship Kenobi left had enough medical supplies to hold Cody over.
*--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Once the two made it back to the ship, Trapper and (Y/n) had helped Cody into the medic area and started apply bacta patches. Cody remained unconscious the whole flight back to The Negotiator. (Y/n) refused to leave his side, wishing they had been quicker. How long had he been tortured? How had he stayed so strong?
(Y/n) sighed, running a hand through their hair as they paced the med bay. Kix was finishing up tests and wrapping Cody's wounds, but there was still apart of them terrified.
"(Y/n)." Obi-Wan's clear Coruscanti accent sounded behind them. (Y/n) turned around to face the General. He had his arms cross and a look of disapproval written all over his face.
"Look, I know I went against orders, but I am not apart of the Jedi council and I understand you're still my General. I just couldn't-"
"(Y/n), please." He calmly sighed and gave them a smile. "I have to deal with Anakin and Ahsoka breaking orders constantly, but you saved lives and even if you didn't listen," He sighed. "I'm happy you saved Cody and his men. However, I must request you reconsider joining the Jedi Council." (Y/n) laughed for the first time since this mission had started, Obi-Wan couldn't help but smile.
"I'm sorry General Kenobi. I'm just not one for the Jedi Code, there's just too much out there I want to do, but I will continue fighting along side you all during this war and helping anyway I can."
"I figured as much." He turned to leave, but stopped in the doorway. "(Y/n), please get some rest. I'm sure Commander Cody will wake up soon and be fine."
"Thank you, General." (Y/n) watched him leave and turned around towards where Kix had been examining Cody. Kix was nowhere to be seen and Cody was sitting up drinking some water. (Y/n) smiled gently and walked over to him. "I'm glad to see you awake, Commander." They smiled at him and sat down next to him, causing him to tense.
"Well, I owe that to you. Thank you for saving me, General." (Y/n) made a tsking noise.
"Not a general, Commander!" They reminded him with a smile and he let out a low chuckle.
"General Kenobi still hasn't convinced you?" It was (Y/n)’s turn to chuckle as they shook their head and looked around the med bay.
"I will never be able to agree with how the Jedi handle things, they'd kick me out before I could even do anything."
"I don't know about that, General Skywalker is still here."
"Yeah well, he's got that chosen one energy about him. Me? I'm a pest at best, but a pest that gets the job done." (Y/n) sighed and got up. "Get some rest, Cody. For real take some time and heal." (Y/n) put their hand on his shoulder and squeezed. Maybe it was the lack of sleep or the thought of almost losing Cody, but (Y/n) leaned in and gently pressed a kiss to Cody's cheek.
"I-" Cody started, but (Y/n) was already halfway out the door.
"Get some rest, so maybe you'll be the one saving me next time!" They shouted, causing Cody to chuckle as Kix came over.
"You both have it bad." Kix teased, causing Cody to roll his eyes and lay back down on the bed. Closing his eyes he could almost feel as if their lips were still pressed against his cheek.

anakin wishlist
Rebel anakin. Order 66 still happens but without him going dark. He hides out for a while with the twins and then helps out the rebels
Au where they stop palps before order 66 and they’re all just allowed to be a happy family!
Suitless vader cause why not
Vader finds one of the twins while they’re still children. Enter dad vader, he’s trying his best.
Emperor vader. He gets tired of palps shit and just kills him. Now he’s emperor, he quickly realizes that it sucks and he hates this job.
Double agent. After quickly realizing that palps lied to him and played him like a fool, vader decides to help out the rebels. He gives them information and occasionally will let them go, like ‘oops they got away.’. The only one that might know that he is their inside man is mon mothma
Time travel - this could go many ways. Pre vader anakin being sent to the future to met his evil older self; vader being sent back to the past either in his younger body where he can either try and play it cool while changing things secretly, or he just tells everyone about the shitty future, or he’s sent back as vader suit and everything and has to continuously fight off the jedi who just see a sith and attack while also trying to take down palps
Eldritch anakin. Give me super powerful actually terrifying not fully human anakin. He is the son of the force and it’s much more obvious. (i actually add a bit of this in my main verses but i’d love to explore it more)
Separatist sith anakin. he was found by palps before the jedi and raised as a sith. vader shows up when the clone wars start as one of the separatist leaders.
the sith are vampires. palps turns anakin, he’s able to heal from his fight on mustafar so he doesn’t need the suit, he might still wear it thought to hide is identity. maybe he bites luke during the fight on bespin, turning him.
modern serial killer au, aka - dexter vibes. he’s just a regular suburban guy with a wife and kids but oh yeah he’s also a serial killer.
trophy husband. maybe the jedi refuse to take him, padme makes sure he’s set up somewhere safe on naboo. probably joins her security team years later, they still get married, he’s just the husband of a senator who’s also a powerful untrained force sensitive

Whumpay 2021: Day 30 - Breaking Voice / Stoicism
Hide the Pain
read on ao3 1744 words star wars, the clone wars, post-zygerria arc, anakin skywalker, angst, ptsd, implied/referenced rape/non-con, slavery mention, alcohol use
“And that is all that happened on Zygerria and Kadavo?” Mace Windu asked.
Anakin did his best to keep his face completely plain, stoic. When he spoke, he tried to fill his voice with respect, “Yes, Master.” Though that word: master. It was like curdled milk on his tongue, going down to fester in his belly.
Thankfully he hadn’t had to use that word around the queen, but it had been everywhere. Nothing but slavery.
“Thank you, Skywalker. You’re free to go.”
He bowed, and then left the Council chambers, feeling sick enough to collapse, or to perhaps go back in there and tell them all off for sending him, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Rex into that mess.
It wasn’t fair! And why him? Their answer before sending him to Zygerria was that he was the one who had discovered the missing Togrutas, so he had insight on the mission. By insight they had probably also meant that he knew how the whole slave business worked.
So Anakin had tried to pretend that he was alright with playing the part of a slaver, had told himself that master was a good title for him. But really, being forced to make his Padawan dress like that, and presenting her to the slaver queen. It was one of the many heavy burdens he now carried with him.
Ahsoka had mentioned that she would be in the Room of a Thousand Fountains, meditating, trying to center herself after all they’d been through. So he decided to leave her in peace and quiet. Obi-Wan was in the Halls of Healing. Anakin decided that’s where he would go. He couldn’t go back to his cluttered room and pretend everything was fine, couldn’t go back to Padmé’s apartments or her office. She would touch him, expect him to touch her. And he wanted to. Blast, he wanted to, and yet… Queen Miraj Scintel was stuck in his head like some infection.
He couldn’t see his wife. Not yet.
Truthfully, Anakin wasn’t sure he wanted to see anyone, but he knew Obi-Wan had been tortured, so it was only right to visit him.
He was in a white tunic and pants when he entered the room he’d been given. He was surprised to see that Rex was there as well. Both looked weary, but most of their wounds were now light scars.
Anakin forced a smile onto his face, even while his blood boiled inside and his stomach churned.
Remain calm. Don’t let them see.
Obi-Wan started getting up to greet him, but Anakin waved it off.
“No, lay still. Rest.”
Rex saluted him. “General.”
Anakin saluted back. “Surprised to see you here, Rex.”
“Well, since I was so involved with the mission the Council thought I should stay close.”
“I’m glad. I hear the Halls of Healing have much better care than the military hospital.”
Rex leaned back, putting his arms behind his head. He shifted in his bed, and let out a sigh, eyes closing contentedly.
“That we can definitely agree on.”
Anakin went and patted his shoulder, and then went to Obi-Wan. He took a seat by his bed.
“How are you feeling?”
Obi-Wan grinned at him, though it was a thin, weary thing, nothing but a mask. “Seeing as I no longer feel like I got shot, whipped, and beaten, I think I’ll be fine.”
Anakin shook his head. “I’m sorry, Master. I was leading the mission, and—”
Obi-Wan held up his hand. “Stop. Don’t carry that guilt with yourself. I took risks I thought necessary, and well, I paid for them.”
“That’s not your fault either.”
“Perhaps you’re right,” Obi-Wan said in a somewhat bland, noncommittal tone as he leaned back against his pillows. “How’s Ahsoka?”
“Mostly unhurt. She was treated for dehydration, but she’ll be fine. She’s meditating.”
“Good, and you?”
Anakin paused. His heart beat wildly, and for a few moments he worried that his former master could hear it. Why were they even keeping up this charade? None of them were truly fine. Anakin could sense it, could feel Obi-Wan’s shame and guilt. He was sure that if he closed his eyes and focused he would be able to see Kadavo, see glimpses and brief flashes of the tortures he had gone through.
He tried to force a smile on his face, but he felt it was more like a grimace. So then he kept his features stone cold. His insides boiled, and burned.
“I’m fine.”
“Anakin—”
“I’m fine,” he growled.
“Mm hmm.” Obi-Wan peeked around Anakin, and asked, “Captain, do you perhaps feel well enough to give us some privacy?”
Rex peeped open an eye and then got up with only a little difficulty. “I was thinking of taking a walk anyway, General.”
“Very good. Enjoy your walk.”
After Rex left, Anakin sighed, lowering his head. He didn’t want to face his former master.
“Anakin, on Zygerria… what happened to you?”
“Nothing.”
“Nothing? I sense much anguish for nothing to have happened.”
Anakin swallowed roughly, and shook his head. “Just forget it.” His voice was gruff, not at all the hard phrik ore like he’d wished to display.
“Look at me,” Obi-Wan pleaded, voice gentle. “Please, Anakin.”
“I should go,” he said, getting up and making to leave.
“I want to help you!”
“You can’t.”
Anakin left, insides like a hot furnace, like fire and lava deep within a planet’s core. Darkness festered in it, and he wanted to rip his very skin off.
He wandered, blind to where he walked, until he found himself outside Yoda’s meditation room.
Before he could knock, he heard Yoda say, “Come in.”
Anakin entered.
“Troubled, you are,” Yoda said as Anakin went to take a seat across from him. The blinds were half-open, letting in some of Coruscant’s light.
“Yes,” he admitted.
“Questions, have you?”
“Why, Master?” he asked, all of the hardness he’d tried to build around him melting, liquid ore bursting forth. What he was left with was a broken voice, and tears building up in his eyes, the sensation pinching at his sinuses.
“The will of the Council, it was.”
“Yes, but why? Why send me? Why send any of us? You know my past. How could you do this to me! How could the Council—!”
Yoda held up a small green hand.
“Peace, young one.”
Anakin snarled at him, but quieted himself.
“Against this mission, I was. Hurt you it would, I feared. This pain you feel, from things you did not speak to the Council of, is it?”
Anakin nodded.
“What happened to me…” He clenched his jaw, and turned away. He couldn’t admit it. Not to anyone, not even to himself. “It shouldn’t have… I wish…”
“Know this, I do. Sorry, I am, as we all should be.”
“You think the rest of the Council is going to feel that!” Anakin shouted, getting to his feet, waving his arm about. “In the end, they agreed to send me there. Did they aim to hurt me? Is that what’s going on?”
“Young one—”
“Don’t call me that!” Anakin snarled. He knew he was young, yet he didn’t feel it. Not after all the horrors he’d been through, and not after his… his nights spent with the queen. “There is something wrong here,” he admitted. “With—with the Council, with all of it, if the leading vote was that I, a former... slave, should go on that kind of mission.”
“Insight, they thought you had.”
“Yeah, sure. Insight into all the pain and torture, and how humiliating and debasing it is! I had to expose my own Padawan to that! It—it dredged up things I wanted to forget.”
“But forget the past, we must not. Accept it, and move forward.”
“How am I supposed to accept it when it’s shoved in my face like that? When I’m forced to… When I’m…” Anakin trailed off, holding in a sob. Part of his voice came out as a whimper.
“Young Skywalker, these experiences you had, part of you they are now.”
“I don’t want them to be,” he ground out.
“For us to decide, that is not. To truly be a Jedi, accept who we are, accept the past, we must. Trust in the Force.”
Trust in the Force. Trust in the Force? Was that the only answer he was going to get? Anakin trusted in the Force, day after day, and yet hadn’t it betrayed him? Hadn’t the Jedi betrayed him?
“Forgive me, Master,” he said, bowing, needing to be alone. “I should not have troubled you.”
Despite Yoda’s admonitions, Anakin left.
Time slipped past him in agonizing moments, every noise setting him on edge, making him want to fight, freeze, or simply run and hide. He wanted to lash out at everyone, at the universe. He held it in, letting it rot in him with the blackness Miraj Scintel had put in him with her touches.
Hours later he found himself at a bar, not even sure where he was. He just knew he needed another drink.
Wobbling in his seat, he called over the bartender and ordered another shot of whatever it was he was putting in his body—spotchka, maybe. The bartender began to refuse, and Anakin just passed him more credits, hoping that would be enough to stay his worries.
A shot of blue liquid that glowed and twinkled in the dim light was passed to him, and Anakin drank it greedily. The alcohol was poison, but why not add to the poison already there? It was already going to kill him, surely.
His comlink beeped, someone wanting to speak with him. He ignored it, but a few minutes later, it went off again.
Anakin turned from the bar, and answered.
“Anakin, where are you?”
“Padmé?” he questioned, voice not wanting to come out, but it did so anyway.
“I heard you got back from your mission hours ago. Where are you? Why haven’t you visited?” Suddenly, a brawl started up in front of him, and there was cheering and yelling. “Are you—are you in a bar?” she asked.
“Does it matter?”
“Yes! I want to take care of you.”
“I don’t think anyone can.”
“Anakin, come home. Please. I want you to talk to me. What happened on that mission?”
“Nothing.”
“Anakin, I—”
He broke the connection, sneered at the bar fight, and went back to his drink. Yet it wasn’t enough to hide his pain.
